Idk how unpopular this opinion might be, but am I the only one who thinks both Leona and Jamil's plans on their respective books were stupid and pointless??

Like Leona refuses Malleus' retirement from Magical Shift, but then tries to incapacitate him and his team? So why didn't he just let him retire in the first place?? What was the point in refusing then?

And then Jamil tries to get Kalim expelled? Honestly, did he really think that Kalim's parents wouldn't force him to leave as well so he could keep up his work as his servant? What makes him think they'll allow him to stay if Kalim gets sent back? In general I disagree with Jamil's angle for his plan, but this part in particular just doesn't make sense to me

In conclusion, I'm not outright saying this is bad writing (it could be, idk), but my in-universe explanation is that, since overblots happen due to a poor mental health state, this translated for Leona and Jamil, characters who are depicted as smart and with great critical-thinking abilities, into poor decision-making and an incapacity to look at the bigger picture. These two characters who have unhealthy coping mechanisms to avoid their problems and emotions suddenly get too emotional and are unable to think straight

A fun question popped into my head while I was watching old twisted wonderland gacha videos.

What would happen if other Twisted Wonderland characters overbloted ?

How difficult would it be to deal with them ?

How would their unique magic work in this state ?

So I have decided to make a list of headcanons for all of the non-overblot NRC students answering those questions.

Heartslabyul

Ace Trappola ❤️ :

-considering the fact that he doesn’t have his unique magic yet, he would be less difficult to deal with then others.

- But his wind magic could make things get out of hand so he still remains a threat.

- There’s not much I can say about him tbh.

Deuce Spade ♠️ :

- Already more of a problem than Ace !

- Not only is he more used to fighting without magic.

- But his Unique Magic [Bet the limit] would allow him to stock up all the damage dealt to him only to send it back to his attacker twofold.

- You would have to BET your life every time you attacked him, the only way to stop him would be to keep hitting him and hope you beat him before he releases your attacks back to you.

Cater Diamond ♦️ :

- 1 overblot is already bad.

- Now imagine that Overblot duplicating itself, all of its copies having the same abilities as the original.

- Cater’s [Split Card] boosted by the Phantom would make him an absolute nightmare.

- And he’s also pretty skilled in magic due to him being a third year.

- Let’s not forget that Cater canonically beat Floyd with his Unique Magic, He is not messing around !

Trey Clover 🍀 :

- ALSO A MASSIVE PROBLEM.

- Trey’ s [Doodle Suit] allows him to overwrite any element he chooses, including other people’s magic (As seen against Riddle’s overblot during Book 1).

- His Unique Magic is OP in this scenario especially when it is boosted by the Phantom.

- Imagine not being able to do anything at all against Trey, if it’s THAT boosted even Malleus could potentially be weakened.

- Also a 3rd year like Cater so he is definitely more adept at using magic than a regular 1st or 2nd year.

(- side tangent : In the English Manga of Twisted Wonderland, Trey’s Unique Magic is called [Doodle Suit] in the 2nd volume but it’s changed to [Paint the roses] in the 3rd volume. Like, make up your mind.)

Savanaclaw

Ruggie Bucchi 🍩 :

- Remember when he could control an entire crowd of people with his Unique Magic after drinking a potion from Azul ?

- Imagine how many people he could control now that he has a constant buff from his Phantom…

- That is terrifying.

- He could use your friends and family as a meat shield, he could force you to kill them.

- If he overblots at least one person is going to die or be severely wounded.

Jack Howl 🐺 :

- Physically speaking, Jack could do a lot of damage.

- And he can definitely maul someone by transforming into a wolf with [Unleash Beast].

- But other than those, he would be similar to Ace in the way that he is not that OP compared to others.

Octavinelle

Jade & Floyd Leech 🦈 :

- Hear me out, they would definitely overblot at the same time.

- And there would be hell to pay.

- Jade’s [Shock the heart] won’t be useful in battle, but Floyd’s [Bind the heart] would allow all attacks to miss both him and Jade.

- And while you could potentially make that magic fail by making Floyd demotivated. Something tells me that Jade might be able to make sure THAT doesn’t happen.

- They have been working together since they were born and have survived a brutal ocean. They can work together almost perfectly (as seen in the Octavinelle book)

- I also believe that they would revert back to their mer-form like Azul did and therefore be just as fast on land as they are in the sea.

(- also it’s implied that Jade chose Floyd out of all his siblings and both of them either killed/canibalized or let their siblings die. The Ocean is its own kind of unforgiving jungle.)

Scarabia

Kalim Al-Asim 🔱 :

-Kalim’s overblot would be sad not because of his backstory but because unlike the others overblots.

- He would (un)consciously use his Unique Magic [Oasis Maker] (a symbol of life) to drown both himself and everyone else.

- After all he can fill up an entire dried river while using very little magic, imagine that paired with the Phantom Boost.

- He would probably overblot because of guilt or pent up sadness and that would lead him to…

Flood the whole world with his tears.

Pomefiore

Rook Hunt 🪶:

- While not physically dangerous, Rook is an excellent hunter and manipulator.

- He knows almost everything about everyone.

- He knows how they look, how they act, who they cherish most and what their weaknesses are.

- His objective would probably be to capture every person that he finds ‘beautiful’ and to try and keep them by his side forever like precious art pieces.

- FULL ON YANDERE

- Worst part is his Unique Magic [I see you] allows him to know EXACTLY where you are. And you won’t know if you you have been targeted by him since it’s magical signature is extremely weak.

- It also works on objects !

- Even if you manage to hide somewhere he can’t reach, he could still use a family member or another loved one to lure you out.

- He’s not scary because he is super-powerful, he is scary because he knows exactly what you are going to do and how to exploit your weaknesses.

Epel Felmier 🍎 :

— While normally he wouldn’t too threatening due to him being a weaker magician than Vil.

- His Unique Magic [Sleep Kiss] allows him to trap people/robots into crystal coffins that make the victim fall asleep.

- They would be forever trapped inside a glass coffin making them unable to be hurt but also unable to stop Epel.

- The only saving grace is that Epel’s Unique Magic has a 75% hit rate. So there’s a 25% chance that he misses. It’s better than nothing !

Ignihyde

They technically both overbloted. So….next.

Diasomnia

Lilia Vanrouge 🦇 :

- Him overblotting would probably make all of his magic come back as if he was in his prime.

- And Lilia is scary powerful to begin with but he can potentially go toe to toe with Malleus if he has both his experience as well as his original magical and physical abilities (as seen in Book 7).

- His Unique Magic wouldn’t be very useful in this case but he is still a very big threat to everyone around him while he’s in Overblot.

Silver (Vanrouge) 🗡️ :

- Similar to Jack in the sense that…

- While he is physically powerful (swordsmanship and being taught by Lilia) and is probably extremely adept at using magic.

- I don’t think he is too much of a threat since his Unique Magic [Meet in a dream] only works if he’s asleep and won’t affect anyone who is awake.

- So unless his Unique Magic somehow becomes like Malleus (makes everyone fall asleep/ traps everyone in a dream) or he overblots while everyone is asleep.

- He won’t be too much of a threat unlike others.

Sebek Zigvolt 🐊 :

- While less powerful than Silver and less adept at magic (according to book 7 anyway).

- Sebek’s [ Living Bolt] would make him a bit more threatening due to his Unique Magic allowing him to turn his body into lightning allowing him to be faster and stronger.

- And while the boost will make it so he can use his magic for longer periods of time, I have no doubt that it would cause him so much pain that he would be weak enough to be defeated.

Here we are, my hand hurts and I spent two hours on this !

If Kalim was often subjected to poisoning attempts as a kid, wouldn't his family have thought of like... training him to develop resistances to common poisons* at least? Or would that have been one of the many other duties pushed onto Jamil's shoulders as taste tester?

What if they were both subjected to it?

*assuming that lethal poisons are difficult to acquire, but then again, some like to headcanon that Kalim's relatives are probably the ones behind some of his assassination attempts. Knowing how anything isn't impossible to procure if you're rich, this could go sideways very quickly (in an angsty/whumpy way 😇)

Saw a post years ago that pointed out that all the black characters they saw that were represented without racist caricatures were done with white hair (with few exceptions)

And they went on to say that there are too many brown/brown/otherwise POC characters like that (especially women) like Kida from Atlantis

And since reading that, every time I see a fire, badass, beautiful POC characters with white hair, all I can think about is that post

Like Kalim Al Asim from TWST or Kida from Atlantis, Storm from X-Men and Mirko from BNHA. Hell, even Asra from Arcana or Ekko from Arcane/League of Legends

And there are countless more that I've seen done in a similar fashion, too

All of these characters are awesome, beautiful, badass representations that are extremely well done!

But they're all done with white hair. It makes me, as a white person, wonder if artists do this simply because the white balances out beautifully against brown skin

Or the more likely answer, where perhaps they do it as a way to make them 'desirable' brown characters. It feels odd and off (even though I love seeing BIPOC with all sorts of cool hair colours, it's the way it's done that makes me feel strange about it bc it happens so often)

Like,,, let them have darker skin AND darker hair.

Hell, let black characters have darker hair, darker skin, AND ETHNIC HAIR. Give them locs, or braids, or actual coils, or textured hair of any kind. Give them bantu knots, twists, etc.

You can draw all these crazy clothes and spiky hairstyles, but not ethnic hair?

Bullshit.

Do you guys ever think about how much of a contradictory character Jamil is?

Like I don't have the energy rn to write a full essay with proof and all about it but?? The way we're told that Jamil is the kinda person to use someone else for the dirty work but when we look at his actions Jamil actually does a lot of the hard work himself and, specially when it comes to Kalim, refuses to take shortcuts for some goddamn reason???

Shipping aside, am I really supposed to believe Jamil when he says he hates Kalim when:

There's a voice line where Jamil says he actually isn't into cooking but does it for Kalim out of convenience, and yet explains (in his school uniform vignette I think?) that it's probably safe for Kalim to eat food from the cafeteria, which makes sense!!! After all, what kinda idiot would poison the whole school (full of elite students btw) just to get to Kalim?? And yet, Jamil still insists on cooking 3 meals a day every day for him...

Jamil does his hair with magic so he doesn't have to waste time on it, but does Kalim's headpiece and makeup by hand every morning (I know that kind of magic is hard and takes a lot of practice but hear me out, he had at least 5-10 years to practice on Kalim)

At the start of the Glorious Masquerade event, Jamil, despite quite literally having a mental breakdown over how much he doesn't want to take care of Kalim or be around him in book 4, seems very anxious and worried about leaving Kalim... FOR 3 FUCKING DAYS

Also how he thinks he's really good at masking his feelings and true intentions and yet Kalim is waaay better at him at masking. Like no one in-game nor most of the fandom ever seems to realize Kalim often masks his negative feelings with a positive and (intentionally) naive attitude. But when it comes to Jamil? Leona, Azul, Vil, Floyd and whoever else, all of them looked right through Jamil's act and some of them even said/implied Jamil is easy to read...

So yeah, Jamil often lies... mostly to himself

ugh, thinking of Silver and Kalim's parallels with Riku and sora from kingdom hearts.

Riku in kh 2 distances himself from the people who care about him because he knows himself as a bad person. thinking Kairi and sora hate him despite the fact sora was looking for him and Kairi didn't want him to leave them during that one part where sora finds Riku. and the way silver does the same thing, expect with his family, he almost falls into darkness because he's a 'monster' in his own opinion, because of what his ancestors did.

and kalim and sora with their 'happy-faces' facesade, In kh 1 sora is told 'no sad faces' by Donald when they first meet. and ever since then, sora has shown (almost no sad emotions, not because he doesn't experience them because but he doesn't feel like he can. He has be able to have others depend on him and never express his emotions. The only time he does really is when everyone is gone, when there is no hope. Kalim also suffer from this, despite the fact he's the 'happy-go-lucky sunshine and rainbows' character, this is not how Kalim really feels. He's just suppressing his emotions, and the only time we see him express his emotions is when Jamil overblots and their fight in book7

Heavy footsteps resounded against the cold floor, a light creaking noise echoing through the room as the door opened. Seeing your sleeping figure on the bed, the visitor quietly walked towards your unmoving body.

In your sleep, you clutched an old battered notebook in your arms. Your eyes were all puffed up, as if you'd cried yourself to sleep. Your visitor slowly sat on the bed, prying the notebook out of your hands. It had a lot of torn papers and splotches of ink, and they couldn't help but want to take a look inside.

"I know this might come off as an invasion of privacy... But excuse me."

January 21st.

I'm slowly starting to lose it again... I have no more desire to live...

January 22nd.

Today is no different. I hope I can die quickly and get out from his hellhole.

January 23rd.

I got a call from my mother.. I had no intention of listening to what she wanted, and she screamed into the phone that I should've killed myself... I'm beginning to think that I should.

"Oh... Sevens..." Riddle couldn't help but clutch the notebook in his hands. Behind all your cheery smiles and constant support for him and his dorm members, he never knew how much you suffered behind his back.

Tears almost threatened to fall from his eyes.

He sat himself beside your sleeping figure, gently waking you up while holding onto your hand tightly as if you'd disappear if he let go. "My dear (Y/n)... I'm here for you. I don't know what your mother has done to you, but... I know how it feels. And I don't want you to suffer alone anymore."

Leona Kingscholar

"..Hm?"

Leona sighed, putting the book on the bedside table. "I know people from this school come with some sort of baggage, but.."

He hopped onto your bed and scooped you up in his arms, hugging you close and enveloping you with his arms. You might even hear a faint growling hum from inside his chest that stirred you awake.

"Now, who said you can keep this a secret from me, hm? If you were struggling, you could have told me."

Azul Ashengrotto

He was shocked, to say the least. He's always recieved your help and support when it comes to his own endeavors, but he never thought you'd have such a deep scar within you.

"Oh, (Y/n)..."

You'd wake up with the book nearly placed on your table, while Azul comes into your room with a tray of hot tea and snacks in hand. He'd set them down on your bedside table as you sit up, pouring you a cup to wake you up.

"Rise and shine, (Y/n). Now, why don't we have some tea and relax today, yes?"

Floyd Leech

"Who *dares* hurt my shrimpy like this?"

He's furious. He's really furious. He might even track down whoever hurt them and give them hell. But no, Floyd won't.

Why? Because you're there in front of him, sleeping peacefully even though your cheeks are stained with tears, and Floyd's heart breaks from the sight. And so Floyd throws the book haphazardly behind him, letting the old papers flutter around.

You'd wake up in a bit of shock as he flops on top of your body, giving you the strongest but gentlest squeeze of a lifetime with him coiled around you, like an eel would. "Shrimpy, call me if anyone dares to hurt you. I'll give it back ten times worse for you, okay~?"

Kalim Al-Asim

"(Y/n).....!!"

He'd be in tears. Actually he'd start crying and bawling his eyes out while reading through your notes. He'd hold the book in his hand, weakly and shakily reading through it, before he launches himself towards you. He knows how powerless he could be when it comes to solving someone else's problems, but he still wants to try.

You'd be shocked to see Kalim running towards you and tackling you to the bed suddenly, of course, and you'd ask what's wrong when you realize he's trembling and gripping your shoulders.

"If... If your life is truly as hard as the book says, then run away with me! You can live with me, anything to make you no longer hurt! I'll show you a whole new world!!!"

Vil Schoenheit

"Oh my." Vil read through the book with eerie calmness, his hands elegantly flipping through the pages. He lets out a sigh, putting the book down beside you and watching your sleeping figure.

One thing is for sure, you didn't expect him to prepare an entire private spa day for the two of you once you woke up. He'd put on facemasks on you, giving you a manicure and just simply relaxing with you.

"I've noticed you're a bit tense, darling."

Vil cupped your cheeks softly, rubbing it with his thumb. "Being too stressed will ruin your beauty. Talk to me when you're feeling overwhelmed, I'll listen."

Idia Shroud

"Are you the MC for a game's bad route or something?"

Idia sat on the bed, holding the book in one hand and your hand in another. Idia's very familiar with the feeling of losing someone, so to think he might lose you too is upsetting.

He'd be angry, of course, but he's still very gentle with you. He'd check if you had done any prior self harm and make sure you're alright. It's a rare moment where he's off his games after all, and he doesn't want you to leave his sight. He'd even speak without his tablet!

"...W-What? Is it so weird for me to care? Well sike, I don't want to lose anyone ever again so good luck stopping me, lol."

Malleus Draconia

"Child of Man, your life is much shorter than that of Fae. Is it really worth it to throw your life away?"

Malleus looked into your eyes, soft worry filling his eyes. Malleus knows how short a human's life span is compared to fae, and he's afraid of losing you due to unnatural circumstances.

He never liked it if anyone left him behind. He didn't want his friends to leave him, he didn't want his dorm mates to leave him. He especially didn't want you to leave him.

Azul put so much effort into being skinny because of his past, he has an eating disorder, so on top of fat shaming just generally being a scummy thing to do, it's also very disgusting to treat an ed (eating disorder) like that. It genuinely can affect the way people perceive eds in real life.

The game really needs to stop treating Azul's ed like a cheap joke, especially considering it's displayed it can take eating disorders seriously like in Riddle's scenes. Tell me, what makes Riddle's orthorexia, Jade's implied immune disorder/low blood-sugar issues, and Kalim and Jamil's- well, their massive set of food-related issues in general, worth taking seriously, while Azul's anorexia is worth nothing more than a cheap joke?

Why do all the other characters in question get genuine closure at some point while Azul gets nothing more than Jade's mockery, and an off-handed remark from Floyd about how boring his 'diet' is?

I'm sorry, I know I'm getting worked up, but as someone who genuinely deals with a restrictive ed, it's just so- icky, how the game jokes about it.
