Cheeky Bastards.
Summary: Your sons, are even more cheekier than your husband (soshiro hoshina)
Word Count : 600
Cheeky Bastards.
That's what Soshiro Hoshina dubbed your two sons. It was hard to deny the resemblance—they were like miniature copies of your husband, complete with his mischievous smile and sharp wit.
But why "Cheeky Bastards"? Even at their tender age of five, they knew exactly how to rile up their father. Whenever Soshiro returned home weary from work, hoping for a moment with you, the boys would demand their mother's attention, leaving him sidelined. It frustrated him to no end.
What really got under his skin was their triumphant smirk whenever they got their way—those moments when they clearly thought, "I win again."
Cheeky Bastards.
One day, Soshiro decided to have a serious talk with them.
"Boys, listen here," he began, his tone firm as he knelt down to their eye level.
Your sons tilted their heads curiously.
"We need to learn to share, especially Mama's attention," he explained.
They snickered in response, shaking their heads defiantly.
"Why should we, old man?" the older one retorted cheekily.
In a daring move, both boys simultaneously nipped at his shoulder.
"You little shits!" he exclaimed, taken aback.
Their sudden tears caught your attention from the adjacent bedroom you shared with Soshiro.
"Are you alright?" you asked, picking them up, one in each arm.
The younger one whimpered, "Papa yelled..."
You scolded Soshiro, reminding him how much they disliked raised voices.
"Honey, they fucking bit my shoulder!" he defended himself.
"Watch your language," you chided gently.
As you lectured your husband, your sons' tear-streaked faces broke into identical mischievous grins.
"Cheeky Bastards," Soshiro muttered under his breath.
Days passed, and despite Soshiro's attempts to bond with them, the boys seemed to revel in their little games. They would steal his snacks, hide his belongings, and even mimic his gestures with uncanny accuracy. It was both infuriating and endearing.
One evening, after a particularly exhausting day at work, Soshiro returned home hoping for a quiet moment with you. As he approached you for a hug, the boys intervened, demanding a piggyback ride from their mother instead. Soshiro's heart sank as they giggled gleefully, clinging to you like little monkeys.
Defeated, he slumped onto the couch, resigned to watching a children's cartoon with them while you prepared dinner. But as the evening wore on, something unexpected happened. One of the boys tugged at his sleeve and offered him a half-eaten cookie with a mischievous grin.
"Sorry for being mean…Papa," the younger one said shyly.
"Yeah, sorry, Papa," echoed the older one, holding out his hand to shake.
Soshiro was taken aback. It was the first time they had acknowledged their antics without a trace of defiance.
He tousled their hair affectionately, feeling a surge of warmth despite his earlier frustration.
"It's alright, boys," he said softly. "Just remember, Mama and Papa both love you very much."
The boys exchanged a glance, their mischievous smiles returning for a brief moment before they hugged him tightly.
From then on, while they remained mischievous and full of energy, there was a newfound understanding between Soshiro and his sons. They learned to share Mama's attention more graciously, and Soshiro found himself cherishing those moments when they would climb onto his lap, fangs and all, with that familiar cheeky grin.
"Cheeky Bastards," he would chuckle, a hint of pride in his voice.
Bonus:
“Did you apologize to your father?” You said to both your boys
“Yes mama!” they said in unison, obediently.

I agree. It's some of the things he says. It's almost like he empathizes with wanderers the way he brings them up so often. Maybe empathize is the wrong word, but i'm definitely sensing some sort of connection. While reading through, I went "Yo is this guy part wanderer orrrr am I trippin?" 😂.
this is how i sit rn realizing that a lot of my predictions for the l&ds plot are coming true esp surrounding sylus + the future of the whole story altogether
#he gives kajiu no 8 vibes#glad i'm not the only one who believes this#I hope it's true LOL#sylus love and deepspace#love and deepspace#love & deepspace#lads#l&ds#lnds

"Make sure you eat, honey"
Note: I’M BACK!! Writer's block punched me so hard and depression literally grilled me alive. Sorry for leaving for so long yall.
Thanks for all the support and my 40+ followers! CRAZY how I started this only three weeks ago!
Anyways! I made a short drabble from my first request! AhhH! Thank you so much!
Summary: Your boyfriend, Soshiro Hoshina, caught you not eating.. Again
Word Count : 445
In the dimly lit office of the third division's weapon design lab, you were fully absorbed in your task—Your focus was on tweaking bullet designs for greater range and explosive impact, better for quicker kaiju elimination.
Soshiro Hoshina, your caring boyfriend, often dropped by your office to check on you, especially when he sensed you were neglecting your well-being. Today was no exception. As you busily tinkered with diagrams and prototypes, he leaned against the doorframe, concern etched on his face.
“Darlin’, have you eaten anything today?” Soshiro's voice was gentle yet insistent, knowing your tendency to skip meals when deeply immersed in work.
You glanced up briefly, nodding absentmindedly. "Yeah," you replied, feeling a pang of guilt for not being entirely truthful. In reality, you hadn’t had a proper meal in nearly two days, consumed by the urgency of your designs.
Soshiro crossed the room and surveyed your cluttered workspace with a sigh. "What did you eat?" he asked softly, knowing your evasiveness when it came to self-care.
You hesitated, avoiding his gaze. “ Uh… I forgot" you murmured, hoping he wouldn’t press further.
A flicker of frustration crossed his face, quickly replaced by concern. "I keep telling you to take care of yourself," he said gently, his worry evident in his voice.
"I know, I’m sorry. I just need to finish this," you apologized, trying to reassure him while staying focused on your task.
He left quietly, and you resumed your work, the weight of his concern lingering in the air. Twenty minutes later, a gentle knock on the door interrupted your concentration. Soshiro stood there with a takeout container in hand.
"It's okay," you started to protest, feeling a mix of gratitude and reluctance, but he cut you off. "Shut up," he said firmly, placing the food on your desk and grabbing a spoon.
Reluctantly, you allowed him to feed you as you continued working. Spoonful by spoonful, he made sure you ate, his actions speaking volumes about his care for you.
You finished the meal in silence, feeling a bit embarrassed but also thankful for his insistence on your well-being. As you swallowed the last bite, he kissed your forehead gently.
"Make sure you eat properly, honey," Soshiro said softly, his words a reminder of his unwavering support and concern for you amidst your dedication to your work.
Before leaving, he kissed your face multiple times, a tender gesture promising that no matter how absorbed you were in your job, he would always be there to ensure you took care of yourself.

Send me a “ 🔥 “ for an unpopular opinion.
~ Probably not an unpopular opinion for Tumblr but probably to a majority of anime lovers but I am getting a bit tired of how much shonen has the main protag being under the age of 18 and still being weird about them. Like not making allegations nor do I care about the culture reasons or whatever, but I would really like more shonens to have like adults, like One Punch Man and Kajiu no 8.
So tied of high school sophomores and junior age characters going on these epic adventures to fight villains to tired and exhausted adults begrudgingly going on epic adventures while still trying to be a functioning adult.
Like this is totally on me for not getting into other genres of anime, whenever I actually can manage to give enough a shit to watch anime, but sometimes I just want to see niggas get their shit wrecked with fancy animation and the occasion bouncy titties.

~んだろうが grammar
Yes, let's examine this quite complicated grammar in a different context. The screen is from Kajiu no. 8, episode 1.
隊員 (たいいん) = troop member (here: about the defense force)
になる = to become
んだろう = の/んです + だろう
が = but; though (the same one you place at the end of a sentence in English: “I like you, though”)
Context: Ichikawa and Kafka were attacked by a yoju. Kafka wants to save Ichikawa (who doesn’t really want to run away) and says the sentence from the picture.
んです
It is often explained as “it adds explanatory nuance.” Using んです adds an explanatory nuance to a sentence because it indicates that the statement being made is based on “background information or knowledge shared by the speaker and the listener.” (source: Tofugu)
What is Kafka explaining, though?
They both share the same background knowledge: Ichikawa wants to be a defense force member.
Kafka emphasizes this information. It’s not a typical explanation, as if Ichikawa didn’t know he wanted to be a troops' member. He’s sort of reminding him of that fact: Listen, kid, you want to join the defense force, remember that?
More examples here
だろう
It is a modal structure that means: the speaker’s opinion (I think, I guess, etc.) or the speaker’s presumption, guess, inference. It expresses a thought or guess about something, often based on some reasoning, but with a sense of uncertainty.
But what is Kafka inferring? It’s not like Ichikawa wasn’t upfront with his dream, and Kafka had to put two and two together.
In this context, he’s saying something like: You want to be a troops' member, right?
This “..., right?” is used to confirm or seek agreement about something the speaker believes to be true.
Ok, let’s put it together.
It’s important to analyze the whole context.
Ichikawa doesn’t want to run and wants to stay to help Kafka fight the yoju. Kafka keeps telling him to run. If he doesn’t, he will die, but he can’t die because Ichikawa’s dream is to become a member of the defense force. Kafka is an awesome senpai and is willing to sacrifice himself to help Ichikawa make that dream come true.
With this sentence, Kafka is convincing Ichikawa to run away by reminding him of his dream (んです) with a degree of uncertainty (だろう) because, in their current circumstances, Ichikawa might have changed his mind.
Kafka is not stating a 100% certain fact, he is guessing, but this guess is supported by some evidence - their shared background knowledge.
Without ん, this sentence would mean that Kafka is just guessing, but this guess would be based on Kafka’s knowledge only, as if Ichikawa kept his intention of joining the defense force secret. Upon hearing a statement without ん, Ichikawa most likely would be surprised: “How did you know that?”
The translation uses a negative question, which in English also implies "seeking confirmation/guessing."
んです obviously got lost in translation, but in English (and many other languages) we don’t need a verbal reminder/explanatory mark. We know from the context.

Kaiju Week in Review (December 11-17, 2022)
After the success of last year's Pacific Rim Ultimate Omnibus, Legendary Comics has launched a Kickstarter for a MonsterVerse Omnibus collecting Godzilla: Awakening, Skull Island: The Birth of Kong, Godzilla: Aftershock, Godzilla Dominion, and Kingdom Kong. It blasted past its funding goal on the first day. The Omnibus will eventually make it to retail, but naturally the Kickstarter rewards include some exclusives, like a slipcase and a different cover, as well as higher-tier bonuses like enamel pins and the ability to get drawn into the comics.
The biggest draw if you've already bought the five comics above is the debut of "Call to Action", written by Brian Buccellato and illustrated by Zid. Logline: "[S]et during the events of Godzilla vs. Kong, a Naval fighter pilot with a personal attachment to Godzilla is put to the test when his squadron is called upon to intercept the King of the Monsters." Well, I'm a sucker for mining drama out of incredibly minor characters, and Zid's the best artist these MonsterVerse comics have seen. If access to that story's all you care about, consider the $15 tier, which nets you a PDF of the Omnibus. K-D-M, who's proven to be a reliable source, is also saying that a number of the minor Titans (Na Kika, Amhuluk, Tiamat, and perhaps others) will receive Monarch bios as well. Those have been delightful sources of lore in the past.
Speaking of comics, @mekagojira3k published the first issue of his self-adaptation of All Your Ruins on WebToon. Read it immediately, it's gnarly as shit! There's a kaiju with crosses on its back taunting a mysterious masked figure and what I'm choosing to interpret as a nod to the Age of Giant Condor!
youtube
I couldn't wait for the Week in Review to post about this, but it merits repeating: The Asylum is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a Destroy All Monsters-style epic called 2025 Armageddon. (Insert scare quotes around "epic" if you wish.) Most exciting to me is the return of Mega Shark, whose series inexplicably ended in 2015 just as it and the Kaiju Renaissance were finding their stride. It's also playing in five fairly random theaters across the country until the 22nd (sorry, should've gotten this post out faster). The rest of us will have to hold off until the VOD release on the 23rd.
After it placed second in the last two Movie Monster Series fan polls, Bandai has thrown up its hands and given Super Mechagodzilla a vinyl, just in time for the 30th anniversary of Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II next year. January 31st is the release date for that one. They also announced a third poll, this time allowing fan submissions to determine the 10 nominees instead of making the shortlist in a smoke-filled room themselves. Yes, that means Zilla, Bagan, and the Giant Condor are theoretically on the table (but no Godzilla incarnations allowed). All's you need is a Godzilla Store account to nominate a kaiju and eventually vote.
Finally, for you Dagahra fans out there, his first figure in ages is coming soon from the Kaiju Out of the Laws line. Shame those are so expensive.
youtube
Here's the teaser for the Kaiju No. 8 anime—and yes, it's going to be part of the Toho kaiju canon. I got caught up with the manga earlier this year and found it pretty enjoyable. An older protagonist is unusual for this type of story, and I like how he's constantly drawing on his experience cleaning up kajiu corpses after taking on the more glamorous work of fighting them. You also gotta admire the boldness of calling a metamorphosing character Kafka.
SciFi Japan has a first look at a film due next year called Kaiju: Island of Fire. The production company is based in Japan, but there's a lot of Hollywood talent in this one, including writer/director Andrew L. Phillips, who has a background in stunt acting. Inspired by 3Y Films, they've also brought back some veteran kaiju actors: Kent Gilbert (the swishy ship commander in Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah), Chuck Wilson (the Futurian Wilson in same), Inge Murata (every Japanese kaiju movie that's needed a German since Monster X Strikes Back), and Tomoko Ai (Katsura Mafune in Terror of Mechagodzilla). No story details yet, although you can probably guess the setting. I like the suit design of what is presumably the anti-kaiju team too, at least from the back.
