Almonihah commissioned me for a kaiju version of my dragon character Leaflet! This was sort of a flat colored commission, but I added a very very fast environment to help show her scale a little bit.

The gargantuan creature reaches a new landform by daybreak.

With a pitiable whine escaping from between its piercing fangs, it collapses onto its side in the fine grained, picturesque shores of an island paradise all but untouched by the humans who call this planet home. Blinking granules of sand away from mournful eyes, it slowly shifts its gaze, likely to take account of its new surroundings. Impressively large mineral formations jut out from fertile soil, rising above the palm trees and bushy foliage like crystalline mountains. They almost look like geodes, the way these crystals cluster and propagate across the concave surfaces of the various caves and cliffs scattered across the area. While it’s unlikely that this creature actually recognizes its surroundings, in truth, it has explored this island before. But that was years ago... back when it had a name. A family. A home, a purpose.

Now, the only notable stimuli that floods this being’s synapses beyond muscle exhaustion is hunger. Untamed, ravenous hunger, the sort that normally bows to no amount of logic or self-control. A great line of saliva— glistening and pink— slops from its mouth and into the sandy brush grass below. The patch of grass wilts upon contact, its blades turning a sickly grey.

Finally rising onto its hind feet, the digitigrade beast begins to explore. It strips away whole leafy branches with its wide, clawed hands as it goes, consuming them whole. Deeper and deeper into the dense jungle it stalks. No quantity of foliage seems to be an adequate match for the cravings of a creature who has just swam endless miles without rest, however. The desperate cries of its stomach have settled, but have not yet been fully satiated.

Soon enough, it finds itself emerging into a wide clearing resting under the morning shadows of a crystal encrusted cliff. Neat rows of identical bamboo houses with thatched roofs frame the edges of this valley, a sprawling garden of verdant vegetables, fruits, and ancient grains stretching far beyond those doorsteps. The locals— small sentient watermelon folk all wearing grassy skirts, necklaces, or headbands— peer at their unexpected visitor curiously. (Although some, recalling legends of sacrifice to their ocean gods, clutch their pitchforks and hoes ever closer to their striped chests.) The creature drools as it catches a strong whiff of sweetness emanating from this entire valley, from the cores of all those tiny living things. A grand solution to its fathomless hunger...  

It falls on its haunches, slowly creeping closer to the edge of this peaceful agrarian civilization. But as its massive paws scrape against a plot of tilled dirt just an arm’s length away from one of the terrified watermelons, a bizarre pang of restraint rises from within. Like a solitary sunbeam cutting through thick, black clouds amidst a troubling squall, a singular coherent thought manages to push its way through all the disorientation of this creature’s mind.

Stop, this weakened inner voice whispers. We can’t.

Sharpened claws scour thick lines through the soil, every waking instinct this creature has fighting against the iron will of that quiet voice. So sweet... so hungry...

Minutes later, the towering figure disappears from the village’s sky, every member of the community safe and accounted for. The coconuts and dragonfruits of this island, however, are not as lucky.

How do you deal with someone posting that one red tegu i forgot his name but hes really popular and the tegus name starts with a m i think because I keep seeing friends share videos on Facebook or other sites and I am not eloquent enough to explain why its bad because I know people dont respond well to anger

Ah yes, Macguyver. I have a whole tag, #Mac discourse, with resources and responses. Generally, I always assume that people are sharing him because they don’t know any better. Most people really have NO IDEA whatsoever what a healthy tegu looks like; they don’t mean to be sharing an unhealthy animal because they don’t know what proper tegu husbandry looks like, which is really the biggest beef I have with Mac’s owners/social media team. When that is your first exposure to what a tegu is and what tegu care looks like, you get ideas that are deeply harmful about what these lizards are. 

So, what to do when I see Mac in the larger world? For starters, I never comment on the original post. Waaaaaay too many comments, and feelings run super hot on the original posts. Instead, only engage with the instance posted on your timeline/profile/whatever. People are far more likely to respond well to something said by someone they know, not an internet stranger. I also find that framing your response as sad works out better than framing it as mad. Something along the lines of “Poor thing, I wish he wasn’t so obese. That’s not what a healthy tegu looks like,” or “He’s so sweet, I wish his owners took better care of him and gave him a proper diet. Tegus need whole prey and more leafy greens,” or “Wow, that’s so unfortunate he can’t even chew his grapes. Those big jowls are supposed to be muscle, and he can’t even get through a grape on his own.” (That last one I only break out in response to the video where the lady mushes the grape for him.) I also usually link to one of my own blog posts about tegu body condition so nobody’s able to say “but they’re SUPPOSED to look like that” without having a rebuttal right there on hand. You want to get out in front of that misguided opinion right away. 

When people share Mac with me, I usually say something along the lines of “Thanks for thinking of me! It’s a shame Mac’s owners don’t care for him properly- he’s not a healthy tegu at all.” I’ll then usually go into a little more detail based on what I see in the video, pulling from my blog or experiences with Kaiju.

ok, i’m kinda shy about posting this but here we go

Fairy tail S/I, Karfel Pietru

3rd gen Lacrima dragon slayer, Fairy Tail member and former member of Death’s Head Caucus

Karfel is a short lad being only 4″5′ and hasn’t provided any measure of weight. His hair is primarily blonde and curly save for two straight locks in front of his ears that hang straight and are a sky blue in colour, and reach to his jawline. His face is fairly rounded and his jawline isn’t sharp either, though chubby cheeks probably don’t help that. His build is the average for a fairy tail male member being lean yet muscular, and his guild mark has the gap surrounding his navel.

He doesn’t really have a sense of style, given that he wears a fur long coat, sweatpants, and heavy-duty boots. much like everyone else’s clothes these are subject to change save for the fur coat as it was a gift from his dragon-mum. The fur coat is enchanted to get dirty to one material (karfel’s blood), enable Karfel to fly, and take no damage (anything that would damage it just passes through it like it’s air).

His Magic has a few gimmicks that set it apart from even other dragon slayer magic: His body can’t be harmed like other people’s, instead just breaking into lacrima or scraping away skin to reveal lacrima and so on. He can Eat and Expel just about any magic (in the case of God Slayer magic it causes a transformation of his body and reduces him to primal instinct) but storing any more than 5 different Magic types causes a dramatic drop in durability.

Warframe S/I, Motorized Kaiju/MK (real name unknown)

A tenno mostly like any other, he is in the Unariu school.

He is sided with Cephalon Suda’s syndicate (rank: Genius) and does not think much about the fact he’s in a clan at all. He hatched a helminth cyst and loves the Charger named Tracey, especially after she saved his life. He has a large degree of empathy but pities animals much more than humans but still wants to target Nef Anyo for the sake of Fortuna (rank: Old Mate) which is where and how he became quick friends with The Business. It wasn’t until his reawakening that he found out why he understood Rell so much: a diagnosis from a Fortuna denizen told him he has autism

Elsword Self Insert, Cebb {Destroyer} [A guardian that believes himself a failure]

An internal turmoil and a force to be reckoned with.

Early in his life, the orphaned Caleb was much more suited to running away then he is now to head-on combat. He decived, stole, and crossed to get what he wanted which quite frequently was never more than a meal. One night however he decided to try out for a Guardian training course with stolen gear. Thegear was stock like most other trainee’s and he hid it away when not in lesson.

One night however, Prince Seiker followed him only to discover his povertous lifestyle and take him back to his father, Helputt who happily welcomed him into the family. Being outside blood he never received a guardian stone but was still able to keep toe-to-toe with his new brother despite this.

He eventually made his own armour and used a pure white material in an attempt to mirror his brother’s look, but still made it distinct so that they’d always be distinguishable. He also named his own cannon “Guardian” as that was his original goal.

Fist Class advancements are: Unrelenting Destroyer, Reaching Destroyer, Bawling Destroyer. (he is 1 year older than Chung)

Code Vein Self-Instert, Caleb/Freebird

Just like all other revenants he doesn’t remember just about anything about himself. He fights with a greatsword and alternates between blood veils, mostly using a custom red version of the winter mantle. He collects all sorts of trinkets but favors snap-fit model kits as he gets a great sense of satisfaction putting them together. He frequently chews on small sections of rebar as that helps him focus his mind. That little kiss mark has always been there.

Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans Self-Instert, Tanuki (real name unknown)

(no image avaliable) Tanuki has brown hair with a pattern of locks that are lighter than the rest. Despite being quite puffy and curly on it’s own two small and slightly triangular limps always manage to form above his ears. He has fair skin for the most part but his left eye has a massive black patch which is a chemical scar, he uses makeup to make it slightly symmetrical. His clothing is mostly the stuff you’d expect of a street biker (in terms of what the articles are) with natural colours ranging from sandy brows to leafy greens, likely to maintain a thematic palette to the idea of the wilds.

He’s a child born in space to parents who were also born in space. When young he staged a successful mutiny and re-established his space gang as a band of pirates called “The Wild Things.” while they’re not warmongers they do attack shipments of protein-ritch food (meats and such) as that’s the only thing they don’t grow on the ship/colony that has been dubbed “Territory” and it’s basically a multitude of ships combined together which is why they’re able to grow plants [that and because they also stole sufficient soil and water to establish a farm]. Speaking of territory basically everyone who’s a pirate knows to steer clear of theirs because despite merciful combat methods and humane treatment of human debris they do not have a gram of mercy for the people who utilize them.

A sigh escaped the mechanic as he returned to eating his burger. Unfortunately for him, the giant lizard had decided to take the one spot in his garage that he needed the most right now. His workbench.

Leaf and leafy shadow's back story:

It was a long time ago before the time when they humans when into fight and when the kaijus didn't exist yet.. Or cities just houses and a house lab... There's an chemical reaction when leaves turn against humans and turn into giant radioactive beasts. Not only they turn into it they can destroy everything and even eat people for the population.. They're still war after all those years.. A few years later a mother leaf name raven, gave birth of two leaf children. One name autumn the orange leaf and spring the generic leaf, sure you think that's not them but it is. There names are different when they was a baby leaf. There's still war and they also have to protect their children. Spring is a very generous leaf but he can get jealous easily and autumn is spring's older brother they like each other as siblings they meet friends and family and thier favorite cousin, maple, the red maple leaf. About 40 years later the war starts again and the humans got stronger and they let autumn and spring hide themselves in the war.. Then the explosion happen and killed all the humans and leaves but autumn, spring, and maple. Spring cried seeing thier family died and feels a ballistic inside him. They're all alone and no where to live. That's when they saw school as they turn into the regular kid's height and went inside and change thier names but maple. Spring is now generic leaf and autumn is now leafy shadow..
