Rest In Peace ~ Sushant Singh Rajput
Hey guys, I was going into a spiral thinking about SSR and everything he went through and I needed somewhere to write my feelings down. There’s so much noise about this on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, I didn’t want to add to the noise, bashing and overall negativity, so found this to be the best place. I’m sorry in advance if I offend anyone. This is going to be very long.
Sushant Singh Rajput the Actor and Human:
I’m not going to lie, I wasn’t his biggest fan, not by a long shot. I watched him in Pavitra Rishta every now and then because my mum was obsessed with that show and I used to be confused as to why everyone was obsessed with Manav and Archana - I was 12 years old when the show started and just felt it was another saas-bahu serial. However, to this day it amazes me how Manav and Archana were able to capture their audience for three consecutive years when their story was another saas-bahu serial. It was obviously the actors portraying them, and it takes a lot to grab someone’s attention and keep it on yourself. SSR had that energy. I remember then he came onto Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa, I watched that show quite religiously because of my love for dance, and was bowled over by how good of a dancer he was. He had perfect lines, and his posture was amazing, I was in awe every time he danced. I remember that in that show he proposed to his then-gf in the cutest way possible, a proposal that is etched into my mind till this day.
He then left his daily soap, for a career in Bollywood, it was a very risky, bold move because it is a well known fact - Tellywood actors, are rarely able to make good careers in Bollywood. Most of them become irrelevant after their first or second movie. But man was everyone wrong about Sushant. I didn’t watch Kai Po Che, but I remember the buzz around it at the time, everyone was talking about it, and it was one of the biggest movies of that year. He then did Shuddh Desi Romance - a movie I was inclined to watch because he was in it, I was slowly turning into a fan, but I didn’t get the chance to watch it. Then came PK. When PK’s trailer was launched, SSR’s cameo was kept a secret, I remember I was in the theatre and he came onto the screen and absolutely owned it. His performance as Sarfaraz won me over, and a smile still comes to my face when I remember him in the song “chaar kadam”. SSR had an amazing screen presence, he knew how to keep the audience’s attention on himself and a lot of the time you would forget this Sushant Singh Rajput, in fact you would only think of him as his character. The brilliance in his craft was the ability to become his characters completely, to the point you think of them as a real person. The next movie I watched of his was MS Dhoni - a movie that became a sensation. Everyone who went to the movie as Dhoni fans, came back as Sushant’s fan. He deserved that and more. You could see his hardwork, his passion and his dedication in everything he did. I remember when the trailer for Raabta dropped, I was super excited two of my favourite actors - Sushant and Kriti had come together. At that point I started watching more interviews of him and got to know him a little from what he portrayed as a person. Raabta flopped at the box office, however, personally I enjoyed it and I was amazed at the chemistry he had with Kriti Sanon. In Kedarnath, I was so excited that Sara Ali Khan was doing her debut with him, and man both did not disappoint. Kedarnath was an amazing movie and Sushant portrayed his character with utmost conviction. Chichore was the last movie I watched of his and I absolutely loved the movie and him in it. The themes and overall message of that movie hit deep, and it was intelligently made, with comedy mixed with the darker themes, but not taking away from the main message they were trying to convey. Overall, even though I wasn’t a fan of him at the start of his career, he had won me over.
I also started adoring him as a person. His love for physics and astronomy; his eyes full of curiosity and enthusiasm towards the great unknowns. He didn’t finish his engineering degree, but the childlike wonder he had towards science made me excited as a scientist myself. He showed everyone that he had a brilliant mind and I’ve said this before and I’ll said it again, actors who are educated and well-spoken make me respect them more, they have a different way of thinking, they are eloquent and they show how much education can do for a person. SSR had all of these qualities. I could hear him speak for hours at a time. His instagram posts were always so deep and meaningful, it would make me thing differently, and his 50 things bucket list inspired me to no end. Especially how much he wanted to do for other people and how much he wanted to grow as a person. He also had an infectious smile, his smile used to make his fans smile and it takes a big person to do that.
SSR’s Death:
I was doing an assignment when one of my friend’s had sent me the news. I thought it was a hoax at first, but then I googled him, and it was true - Sushant Singh Rajput had committed suicide. Honestly, I’ve been distraught since then, I cried multiple times, and I can’t stop thinking about him, the pain he must’ve felt in order to take this decision, and whenever I saw his sisters or dad I cried even more, the sadness and despair I felt would be nothing compared to theirs, especially because his death was preventable. I’ve never been depressed, I’ve had my fair share of panic attacks and anxiety but I don’t know what depression is. I only know what I’ve studied, that people who are depressed have physiologically different brains to people who are not, they have decreased levels of oxytocin and serotonin, and that they have less grey matter. I’ve also been told that this causes them to not be able to function, they sleep too much, become unable to socialise, and their brain starts to turn them against themselves. However, I believe that there is always an underlying cause of depression. There are triggers for depression, a person doesn’t become depressed over nothing. I know everyone wants to know the trigger; why did he take such a drastic step, but he didn’t leave a note. He left with silence. I know it is difficult, but I feel that we should respect that, however, we should not let him die in vain.
But I’m going to be real here IT IS NOT OUR PLACE AS THE GENERAL PUBLIC/AUDIENCE OR FANS TO GO ONTO OTHER CELEBRITIES TWITTERS/FB/IG AND CALL THEM MURDERERS. How dare we think that we can blame other people for someone’s death. I don’t care how these people treated him while he was alive, let them mourn him in peace. His death has taught me one thing, not one person is toxic, not one industry is toxic, all of us are. The person who is now checking up on every single person that they usually would not care for because of guilt, the girl shouting all over my timeline that Karan Johar, Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt murdered SSR, the boy screaming that x person didn’t post about his death they wouldn’t be affected by this or they don’t care. Every single person. Everyone needs to stop with raging on social media. They need to take a step back and breathe, and mourn and let others mourn.
My take on Nepotism and Bollywood:
Here’s the crux of the issue. Bollywood. I’m your average desi girl, I’ve grown up watching bollywood, being obsessed with it. To the point that at a certain time I only watched Bollywood. Then the whole nepotism scandal hit. I remember thinking to myself then, what’s the big deal? Also did people really not think about this until an actress had to come speak about it on national television? Did no one realise that Bollywood has been preferring starkids over other talents for decades? I used to think that yeah, Bollywood has nepotism, but where does nepotism not exist. The truth is nepotism exists everywhere. A doctor’s child becomes a doctor. A business man’s child becomes a businessman etc. But here’s the thing, the doctor’s child has to work towards becoming a doctor, he/she has to go through the same steps that other non-doctor children have to do. The only advantage they get is, that their parents might be able to help prepare them for what’s coming, and it’s not like every doctor has doctor parents, both people get equal opportunity. The child of a doctor just has more insight. However, in Bollywood, there is no equal ground, it isn’t as if a starkid only has it easy to get their first movie. Nope, they sign their second or third movie before their first one releases. Take Sara Ali Khan for example, she had already signed Simmba, before Kedarnath had released. Now take Anushka Sharma, she didn’t get her second movie two years after the release of her first one. Nepotism does exist, it will exist, but in other industries, the people who aren’t a product of it are still able to get promoted, to do good work and receive equal opportunity. However, in Bollywood this is not the case. It has never been the case. This needs to change. This needs to desperately change. Especially because nepotism didn’t use to be as bad, as the products of nepotism were still talented, but now, they are not, and SSR’s death can bring this change, because Bollywood is losing it’s credibility, and as I consider Bollywood my own, my home, I want it to do better. Actors who come from non-film backgrounds and television deserve to share space in mainstream cinema with those who do come from film backgrounds.
Where From Here
In the past couple of years, we’ve become a horrible society. We pretend to like people when we meet them, and then bitch about them behind their back. We also think that whatever comes to our heads we can say to whatever celebrity the way we want because them being public figures is an open invitation for us to say hurtful things to them which normally we would not say if we meet them in person. We are the people who cry about nepotism, and then when a movie doesn’t have a big star in it we go “we’ll watch it at home, if we have time, why waste money going to the cinema”. We are the same people who cry about mental health issues and to raise awareness, when we think its absolutely fine to give a celebrity death threats because of a comment they made. We are also those people who cry about how SSR was treated unfairly, when we had a chance to go see his movies but didn’t. Who gave us this authority to be able to judge? Who gave us the right? If we won’t talk to other people with such disrespect in real life, why can we over the internet? WE. NEED. TO. DO. BETTER. AS. A. SOCIETY.
We need to stop shaming people, we need to support artists that aren’t star kids, but also support star kids. They don’t deserve the hate they get either. It isn’t completely their fault that they are given more opportunity. It’s our fault too. We are the ones who make them successful. Directors know that they could sell more tickets with Ranbir Kapoor on the poster than Sushant Singh Rajput, even if Sushant Singh Rajput is a better artist. We need to support both talents. We need to show filmmakers as an audience, that both artists should be given equal opportunity. That the only thing nepotism should do for a starkid is just give them insight on what a life of an actor is like. That is all. They should also go to auditions, they should also be accepted or rejected based on talent. And for the love of god, we need to stop getting celebrities to judge other celebrities based on acting skills and sex appeal. it’s 2020, we can do better.
Also to anyone who’s having any sort of dark thoughts. Please, I beg of you talk to someone. There is someone who loves you; your parents, siblings, teachers, friends, family, that brown guy in your dms. And if you truly don’t know anyone that you can talk to, talk to a therapist on a free hotline. My inbox is also always open if you want to chat.
To Sushant Singh Rajput - I will miss seeing you at the movies, your smile and your interviews, and how much of an inspiration you were to me. I hope you are at peace now, and finally found happiness.
For anyone who read this - thank you for reading my absolute ramble and I hope I made sense
Here’s a dumb joke to make you hopefully smile a little, or at least roll your eyes: What do you call bacteria found in Agra? Agraculture - does this even make sense. IDK. All I want to say is, that I’ve been an absolute dukhi aatma for the past couple of days, and now its time to smile, and look at some positives.

Teaser Review - Kedarnath (2018)
Kedarnath teaser has dropped: this one took its time! The movie is Sara Ali Khan’s much-hyped debut vehicle and Abhishek Kapoor's comeback as a director after Fitoor.
The teaser looks good and quite epic. Sara Ali Khan is ... blinding. If her acting matches up to her screen presence she is going to be serious competition to Alia Bhatt. I hope she is. I love Alia to death but it is sort of boring how she has a monopoly over the “young and upcoming female superstar” category. Not to say other New Gen actresses are not talented but none have had the opportunity to show BO power a much as Alia has so far. Hopefully, Sara will shake that up a bit.
As usual, I will mention what I am not totally sold on. 2 words here: Abhishek Kapoor. Of one, Fitoor. Fitoor was a terrible experience and no, it is not about Katrina’s performance. Mainly because she was decent in that movie unlike Aditya Roy Kapoor who served a reheated version of his Aashiqui performance. Fitoor was mostly a really bad take on The Great Expectations (some might say an “insult”). Scenario aside the narration felt like a this grotesque over the top montage of scenes supposed to create drama. It felt forced and unnecessary where it should have been gut-wrenching and impactful. Worse, it ended up being downright boring.
While I liked Kai Po Che but always thought the directing was the weakest link of the movie even there. Have not seen anything else from Abhishek Kapoor but needless to say I am worried. The grandeur shown in Kedarnath’s trailer gives me major Fitoor flashbacks. For Sara’s sake let’s hope I am wrong.

Mukesh Chhabra is a well-known name when it comes to casting in films. He holds a kind of monopoly in the profession. Nearly every production house nowadays has hired his services.
Mukesh is a trained actor who now has progressed to being a director. His debut film, Dil Bechara, starring the late Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi is going to release soon at an OTT platform. He talks to Raghuvendra Singh about fulfilling a dream, of missing Sushant, and more...
As a director, your first film Dil Bechara is ready for release. What are you feeling right now? Every first step in life is difficult. Dil Bechara is my first film as a director, so I am certainly nervous about what the response will be. But I have made the film with all my heart, hence I am confident about the outcome as well. You landed in Mumbai in the year 2006. At that time you may not have dreamt of becoming a casting director… I used to work for NSD TIE in Delhi. When the directors from Mumbai used to come to Delhi for casting, they used to seek our help. That’s the way I got involved with films. Being associated with theatre, I knew many actors. I always wanted to make a name in films. You are a trained actor, then why did you become a casting director and now you’re turning a director? When I applied for a job in NSD TIE, the basic qualification was graduation and being trained in theatre. So I also did an acting course from Shri Ram Center in Delhi. I did not dream of becoming an actor.
If you are not from this industry, what kind of challenges do you have to overcome initially? If you are coming from theatre culture, then you have to mould yourself in film culture. You have to know people. Your work in this city is your only calling card. Along with your work, you have to build as many connections as possible. In my salad days, when I lived in Mhada, my morning started with whom I can meet today. What kind of advice will you give to new talent? They need to have complete confidence in themselves. There should always remain positive. Do not lose hope. Nothing can stop talented people from moving forward.
It is said that the film industry operates on relationships. If you have a good relationship with everyone, then you can be sure of a long inning... In this industry, relationships are based on your work. The day you stop working, all your relationships disappear. Be honest with your work, and everyone will respect you. The film industry is a purely commercial space. The value of relationships often diminishes when it comes to money. This happens everywhere, not just in the industry. Filmmaking is an art but business is also associated with it. Films are a unique combination of business and art. We cannot ignore the business side of it. Is it possible for a person to feel lonely in this industry despite immense successes and spotlight? During work, you are in a crowd but in the end, you are alone. It is common to feel lonely in Mumbai. I am lucky to live with my parents. I forget the industry after entering my home after work. Was it always your dream to be a director? I did not dream of becoming a director. It was a process. I developed this interest while casting for films. How did you land up directing Dil Bechara? The film chose me. Many people wanted to make this film but did not succeed. Rucha Pathak of Fox Star Studios sent me this script. After reading this I felt an attachment to it. I gave my consent towards directing it.
How did Sushant Singh Rajput come on board? Sushant promised me in 2017 that whenever you make your first film, I will work in it. Maybe he loved me for getting him Kai Po Che!. When I told him about The Fault in Our Stars, he immediately agreed to do it. Without reading the script. Hollywood has already made a successful film on John Green’s novel The Fault in Our Stars. Are you apprehensive about comparisons? I had not seen The Fault in Our Stars before. The book on which this film is based, I also read that book later. I watch Hollywood movies very rarely. I do not feel any pressure. I later watched the film fast-forward. Your plan was to bring Ansel Elgort (the lead actor of The Fault In Our Stars) and Sushant on one platform… It was my dream but as they say that not every dream gets fulfilled. I wanted to bring Ansel and Sushant together at the trailer launch of Dil Bechara. This was my promise to Sushant. I was happy when Sushant and Ansel both tweeted about the film a year and a half ago. Do you remember your first meeting with Sushant Singh Rajput? Shobha Sant first told me about Sushant and then introduced him later. And we had our first meeting in connection with the audition of Kai Po Che!. I met him in a cafe in Versova. We first became friends and then brothers.
What qualities of Sushant Singh Rajput made you realise that he will go a long way in films? The charm, dedication, performance, honesty, sincerity to become a hero ... he had it all ... it was his charm that helped him do a good job in such a short time. Had he been alive, he would have scaled greater heights...
When did you last have a conversation with Sushant Singh Rajput? My birthday falls on May 27. We had a long conversation that day. He was very happy. After that, we often had conversations about Dil Bechara. Was Sushant able to see the completed film? He had seen the entire film during dubbing. Sadly, he could not watch the finished product. I have realised my dream of making a film but I don’t understand whether to laugh or cry. Which song from the film was Sushant’s favourite? Taare Gin and Dil Bechara title track. Today, if you want to dedicate one song to Sushant Singh Rajput, which song will it be? Meri jeet, teri jeet, meri haar teri haar, sun le mere yaar.. Ye dosti...
Which of your films are you most proud of when it comes to casting? There are many -- Kai Po Che!, Gangs of Wasseypur, Super 30, Chillar Party, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Dangal, Shahid. I am currently excited about ’83, Brahmastra and Laal Singh Chaddha.

Revealed: How Saif Ali Khan And Amrita Singh Have Reacted On Being Offered The Movie Kedarnath
Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput starrer Kedarnath’s trailer has released at last. There is no doubt in the fact that we are really excited about this movie that is directed by Abhishek Kapoor. In the past, Abhishek Kapoor has given us movies like Rock On, Kai Po Che and Fitoor. During the trailer launch, both Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan have been present at the location. Saif Ali Khan’s daughter Sara Ali Khan will enter the Bollywood industry through this movie.
For the first time, Sara has been interacting with the media at the trailer launch of Kedarnath. On the occasion, Sara has made some interesting revelation. She has talked about her parents at length.
On being asked about her parent’s reaction on the movie offer, Sara has said “When I was offered to be a part of Kedarnath, my parents supported my decision. I was so impressed with the script, that I was not going to listen to anyone.”
Sara looks quite similar to her mother Amrita Singh who has been an actress in the past also. By looking at the trailer, we are sure about one thing that she will make her parents proud. However, final result will certainly come only after the movie Kedarnath releases at the theatres.
In addition to Kedarnath, Sara has already signed another movie which is Rohit Shetty’s Simmba. Sara will be acting opposite Ranveer Singh in Simmba. Interestingly, both the movie of Sara will release in the same month. Kedarnath is releasing on 7th December where Simmba is expected to hit the theatres on 28th December.

Bigflix Receives a Facelift, Now Starts offevolved at Rs. 50 according to Month
New Post has been published on https://worldupdatereviews.com/bigflix-receives-a-facelift-now-starts-offevolved-at-rs-50-according-to-month/
Bigflix Receives a Facelift, Now Starts offevolved at Rs. 50 according to Month
Reliance Enjoyment, the Anil Ambani-owned firm, has given a facelift to its subscription-primarily based movie streaming carrier, Bigflix. The new edition could be available in India and the world over at Rs. 50 / $1.ninety nine in line with month after a one-month unfastened trial. The plan offers 5 consumer profiles, and HD best streaming on up to five devices concurrently.
Bigflix Facelift
Bigflix’s made over version is meant to finish in India’s more and more crowded but nascent marketplace, which includes the likes of Netflix, Amazon Top Video, and Hotstar, amongst others. On the identical time, Reliance also wants to cater to “the latent demand of the Indian expatriates” world over.
In an announcement, Reliance Enjoyment’s COO Shibasish Sarkar stated: “Indians are transferring to digital Entertainment in a massive way with consumption developing on a daily basis. Drastically, Bigflix will fill the void created with the aid of the decline of the house video marketplace with the aid of digitally delivering films.”
The brand new Bigflix has over 2,000 titles across nine languages, which includes Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Punjabi, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi, Bhojpuri, and Bengali. It has tied up with the likes of Dharma, Disney, Viacom, Phantom, Telegu One and Rajshri.
Some of the featured films on Bigflix are PK, Wazir, Madurai, Kai Po Che, Phantom, Mohenjo Daro, Paan Singh Tomar, Baaghi, Vacation, Raghav 2.zero, Haider, Dev.D, and Floor. Even though it shares part of its name with Netflix, Bigflix is only centered on films – function, short and devotional – and trailers. Its India-centric content material technique puts it squarely in opposition to the likes of High Video, whose cognizance at launch become to serve the united states’ massive local pursuits. But not like Amazon, Reliance does not want to focus on its English-language catalog, so that you can be restricted in size.
In terms of pricing, Bigflix is extra pricey than its Amazon rival – Rs. six hundred for a yr vs Rs. 499 per yr. It is still less expensive than other competitors; Hotstar fees Rs. 199 per month and Eros Now gives HD content material at Rs. 99 according to month. For what It is well worth, Hotstar has a miles wider portfolio – with tie-united states with HBO, and rights for the likes of IPL, Premier League, and Wimbledon.
Bigflix already has three.nine million customers, claims Reliance. It truly is because Reliance turned into the primary ever video-on-demand platform in India, back in 2008. But a lack of Internet infrastructure averted it from ever developing in size. Now that the likes of Netflix, Amazon, and Megastar have tested that there is a marketplace – even Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio got into the sport with JioCinema – Reliance Entertainment has a visible match to re-launch Bigflix.
Are You a Victim of Impulsive Spending? Let’s start with defining the time period ‘Impulsive Spending’. Oh… No …Do not Near this tab, I am no longer going to present a two sentenced boring definition to this time period, a dictionary should try this activity.
Do you regularly discover yourself going to the wonderful marketplace with simply the aim of purchasing ingredients for the subsequent day’s meal and grow to be bringing domestic a brand new crockery set when you have already got one to your eating desk and a couple of them in your cabinet?
Bigflix Review
Because you sense a steady want to keep yourself up to date with the developing technology, as opposed to simply obtaining knowledge about it, do you end up converting your cellular telephones each 4-5 months to hold in par with The new trend?
Get the photograph now? This is what’s known as impulsive spending and this has were given to prevent right now if you want to shop sufficiently to make a down charge for a brand new house/automobile, make a cozy saving in your kids, installation an ’emergency fund’ and stay lifestyles in peace after retirement.
These items are essential in lifestyles due to the fact the sensation that you are saving sufficiently in your destiny is an awful lot nicer than receiving credit score card bills On the cease of every month and reading how you are ever going to pay them.
Bigflix Review
So if you are a shopaholic or a Victim to ‘impulsive’ spending, take an oath to start a brand new spending dependency right now to enhance the high-quality of your existence. All of a sudden you need no longer come to be stingy. However, you need to understand the significance to exercise frugality so as to experience long-term monetary blessings.
Right here are few suggestions to keep away from Impulsive Spending:
1) Always bring a list for shopping and stick to it (you are not allowed to add anything this is more than vital to this listing)
2) in case you find yourself going out for dinner or lunch extra than once a week gradually reduce it and produce it all the way down to simply twice a month. For all, you understand cooking at domestic with a circle of relatives may be greater fun.
3) Are you a movie buff? There’s sincerely nothing incorrect in being one. rather than strolling to theaters for every new launch, watch the DVDs, Join up for options like Netflix, bugfix or lease a film from a nearby shop.
4) I understand that you are an ardent reader. What is using piling up your bookshelf with all your preferred books when you aren’t going to touch them for years yet to come? turn out to be a member of a great library as a substitute.
You want no longer comply with all of the above and give up on easy pleasures of lifestyles. Decide which of those is critical to you. Be extremely frugal on things that depend little on you and spend part of stored cash on what pursuits you and the relaxation of it, make sure it is going to your savings or emergency fund. Facelift Surgical operation – Do you know the Process? There are many people in the international who suppose they know what a facelift is. The majority understand a facelift is a sort of a plastic Surgery which is meant to eradicate wrinkles. It is also used to dispose of other symptoms of growing older from the human face. This form of plastic Surgery works with the aid of getting rid of extra fat and tightening muscle tissues the face. This brings a greater younger-searching look to an individual. While human beings get aged, they have a tendency to have much less elastic skins, particularly in the face. This will result in sagging pores and skin across the neck location and the jaw line. In such instances, a facelift can help to tighten the pores and skin and make certain a higher look.

Reliance Entertainment, the Anil Ambani-owned firm, has given a facelift to its subscription-based movie streaming service, Bigflix. The new version will be available in India and across the world at Rs. 50 / $1.99 per month, after a one-month free trial. The plan offers five user profiles, and HD quality streaming on up to five devices simultaneously.
Bigflix's revamped version is meant to complete in India's increasingly crowded yet nascent market, which includes the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Hotstar, among others. At the same time, Reliance also wants to cater to "the latent demand of the Indian expatriates" world over.
In a statement, Reliance Entertainment's COO Shibasish Sarkar said: "Indians are moving to digital entertainment in a big way with consumption growing on a daily basis. Notably, Bigflix will fill in the void created by the decline of the home video market by digitally delivering movies."
The new Bigflix has over 2,000 titles across nine languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Punjabi, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi, Bhojpuri, and Bengali. It has tied up with the likes of Dharma, Disney, Viacom, Phantom, Telegu One and Rajshri.
Some of the featured movies on Bigflix are PK, Wazir, Madaari, Kai Po Che, Phantom, Mohenjo Daro, Paan Singh Tomar, Baaghi, Holiday, Raghav 2.0, Haider, Dev.D, and Fitoor. Though it shares part of its name with Netflix, Bigflix is only focused on films - feature, short and devotional - and trailers.
Its India-centric content approach puts it squarely against the likes of Prime Video, whose focus at launch was to serve the country's big regional interests. But unlike Amazon, Reliance doesn't want to focus on its English-language catalogue, which will be limited in size.
In terms of pricing, Bigflix is more expensive than its Amazon rival - Rs. 600 for a year vs Rs. 499 per year. It's still cheaper than other competitors; Hotstar costs Rs. 199 per month, and Eros Now offers HD content at Rs. 99 per month. For what it's worth, Hotstar has a much wider portfolio - with tie-ups with HBO, and rights for the likes of IPL, Premier League, and Wimbledon.
Bigflix already has 3.9 million users, claims Reliance. That's because Reliance was the first-ever video-on-demand platform in India, back in 2008. But a lack of Internet infrastructure prevented it from ever growing in size. Now that the likes of Netflix, Amazon and Star have proven that there's a market - even Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Jio got into the game with JioCinema - Reliance Entertainment has seen fit to re-launch Bigflix.
You can download or stream movies on Bigflix from your Android and iOS devices, smart TVs, PCs, and game consoles.

Margaret of Don’t Call It Bollywood let me know that I HAD to go see Running Shaadi which I don’t remember hearing anything about before. I went in barely glancing at the poster, and not even seeing a trailer. I haven’t yet seen Pink, so this was my first Hindi film with Taapsee Pannu. (Just looking her up, I forgot she was in the wonderful Telugu film Mr. Perfect with Prabhas, as that movie is all Kajal to me.) But you can’t imagine my delight that the lead male actor in Running Shaadi is Amit Sadh.
When I saw Sultan last summer, I was really taken with Amit Sadh, who plays the MMA promoter who convinces Salman to come out of retirement. I remember thinking to myself, Who is that? I want to see a movie with him as the lead! Wish granted! Evidently, he was also in Sonakshi’s Akira, which I will be seeking out directly, and I had forgotten he was in Kai Po Che.
Running Shaadi reminded me in some ways of Vicky Donor, in that it’s an under the radar movie that deals with some serious topics in an amusing and ultimately very sweet way.
I was completely blown away by what happens in the very first 5 minutes or so of the movie. I have never seen a rom com start this way, but I won’t spoil it for you. Just know that the film begins with Amit working for Taapsee’s father in the family sari shop. Taapsee is in pigtails and her high school uniform and goes to Amit with an impossible situation. He is the only one she trusts to get her out of this jam.
Taapsee gives Amit a sweet kiss on the cheek afterwards, and you can just see how dumbstruck he is. They start dating at that point, but once she goes to college, he feels a gulf coming between them as she gains new sophisticated friends. He constantly thinks that he is not worthy of her, as he is an orphan that her father took a chance on and gave a job long ago. It’s a familiar filmi trope, poor orphan boy in love with the rich girl, but I love where this movie takes it.
They break up and he impulsively calls his uncle and finally agrees to the arranged marriage his uncle has wanted with a young Bihari girl. He quits his job and has an idea to start a business helping couples run away and marry the person they want, when their families are against it. He and his pal, played by debut actor Arsh Bajwa, start RunningShaadi.com (the .com was censored out constantly!) and they have to ask Taapsee for help as she has a credit card to secure the domain name.
They help out all sorts of couples, inter-religious, intercaste and even a same-sex couple. There is a wonderful undercurrent social message to this whole film, that of course love marriage is best, and the young people should be able to marry whoever they want. The schemes to help the couples get quite elaborate and amusing, but their “disguises” are pretty ridiculous.
Taapsee comes to Amit asking for his help for her own running shaadi. Amit asks who, and rejects that she’s joking when she immediately answers with you. Then she tells him she wants to marry her college classmate Shunty, and he demands that they meet. He goes through with the plan, and while they drive all night to the rendezvous point, Amit can’t help but look longingly at the sleeping Taapsee. She then reveals that it was all an elaborate ruse to force him to marry her. Zing! I loved this twist that she just takes her fate in her own hands, and forces the issue.
Her family chases after them, and the three of them are on the run. Taapsee gets injured and Amit is driven almost mad that he might lose her. He is so caring with her while she heals that I was ready to swoon. She goes out to buy condoms, and my jaw was about on the floor that that scene was in the movie. Fist bump up in the air for that touch!
But oh noes! Her family finds them again, and they must escape to Amit’s uncle’s, and that leads to dealing with the fact that Amit is still set to have his arranged marriage.
They figure out quickly that his intended bride doesn’t want to marry him either, and there’s an elaborate plot to give Amit his own Running Shaadi. When Amit and Taapsee finally are able to show each other how they feel, it was perfectly sweet, sexy and meaningful.
I absolutely adored this Rom Com. It was one of the best Hindi romantic comedies I have seen in years. I loved that it tackled some meaningful issues, and has a strong female lead who goes after who and what she wants. Taapsee wasn’t the best actress ever, but Amit Sadh was just wonderful in this. I cannot wait to see more films from him. This is a debut directorial film for former cinematographer Amit Roy. He also wrote the script which I thought was simply fantastic. Running Shaadi may exit quickly from theaters, but if you don’t catch it there, it’s definitely one to seek out on Netflix or ErosNow. Hindi movies with fresh actors can struggle to make a splash, but I will guess this film will gather fans over time. There was just almost no marketing for it, and the songs weren’t anything special to give it that pre-release push either. The film was only two hours and has just a couple of montage songs, and that was the only thing I had wished for — that it had more and better music numbers. I will definitely be buying this film on DVD to watch again and again.
Running Shaadi -Fantastic Rom Com with some fresh faces Margaret of Don't Call It Bollywood let me know that I HAD to go see Running Shaadi…
