a/n: this not an 'x reader' fic, however, i may write a separate one-shot where he does talk about this stuff with her, and actually gets some real comfort from a person he's grown to trust.
also, i don't know why i wrote this. i don't know why i'm posting it, either. but i do feel like writing and reading this kind of fiction has helped me with my own traumas, in some way. i don't understand it, but as long as it's recognized as fiction, i don't think it's wrong to engage with it. if it bothers anyone, i can take it down, or move the page break to the top, before the warnings.
On the night of his mother’s death, Kai had never felt so numb.
He was crowded in a room with his father and seven siblings, all of them sobbing and sneezing as they huddled around her body, willing her back from the hands of death, but he felt numb. Nothing. No sadness, no joy, no emotion at all. He stared at her, mind completely void, as he tried to think up a good memory of the woman, as prompted by his father to his siblings.
“Everyone share your favorite memory with her,” he said in between sobs. The children immediately started spilling out their hearts. Snot dribbled from their noses and dripped down to the carpet. The oldest two were dry heaving in an attempt to catch their breaths, and the youngest were crying. His twin sister held one, while his father held the other, but nothing helped. “Malachai?” His father turned to him, “your turn to share something.”
Kai had nothing. When he opened his mouth, his tongue tripped over the first word - the I, in ‘I don’t know’.
“Malachai?” He asked again, nostrils beginning to flare. If Kai didn’t say something soon, he knew what would happen. But when he tried to speak, nothing would come out. “Would you give us a moment?’” He addressed his children.
Joshua took his eldest son by the hand then, gripping tightly, and dragged him to the garage. There, he slapped him across the face, pushed him up against the wall, and hit him in the stomach. Everything he needed to say, he said in his actions, and that was enough. Kai had grown used to his father communicating with his fists.
“Twenty-four hours,” he spat, wetness hitting Kai’s cheek. The boy wasted no time getting up and heading to his room, where he’d be for the next day. Only this time, he wondered what it would be like without his mother.
---
Madeline never had the same relationship with her firstborn son as she did her first daughter. They were twins, and expected to be loved the same, though that quickly proved not the case as they grew older.
The change started around the time they turned four. At this time, his sister, Josette had begun to develop her magic, but Kai was never able. First impressions were that Kai was simply behind his sister in his development, but soon, whispers of something more sinister were born.
At age six, the coven’s deepest fear was confirmed as true: Kai was a siphon, and could not produce magic himself. Then, like a black sheep, he was casted out from his family. His sister could not play with him, his coven could not give him affection, his own mother was not allowed to touch him. They feared he’d steal their magic and hurt them in the process, and so contact became forbidden.
Madeline cried when told she could not reach for the child she bore. Her own flesh and blood, yet if she touched him, he could cause her harm. Her relationship with him became an obsession. She would cast him aside like the rest of the coven, but when given even a second alone, she’d return to him, coddling him with affection. She craved closeness she could not give, and her desires made her spiral out of control.
Malachai was eight when his mother’s attention became one of his greatest threats. What happened was something he didn’t understand until much later in life, a sinking feeling in the soul as the memory resurfaces. Buried deep to protect himself and only remembered when he came across an old story she used to tell him to lull him to sleep.
Joshua would sit beside her as she’d read the story of Peter Pan, and she wouldn’t dare to brush the hair from his face. She wouldn’t kiss him goodnight, nor would she tuck the blanket up to his chin. She put her son to bed, and then she and her husband would leave the room.
But on nights where Joshua had meetings with the coven leaders, and Madeline would stay home with her three children, she would visit him in the night. The woman would creak the door open very quietly and check to see if the boy was awake. Usually, he’d be fast asleep. Madeline would then crawl up next to him on the bed and trace her fingertips along his blanket. If Malachai did not stir, she’d slip a hand underneath the sheets and feel for his soft skin. First on his stomach, but her hand always traveled further than a mother’s should. One hand held his waist while the other felt his length, at the time, barely three inches. Her heart swelled with pride - three inches at eight years meant he’d grow much thicker by puberty. Girls would be tripping over their feet to sleep with him, she’d smile to herself.
Sometimes while she was rubbing him, Kai would wake up. He would be confused at her presence in his room, but he’d never question it the way she held a finger to her lips.
“I just missed you, baby boy,” she’d say, “mommy never gets to see her baby anymore.” And Kai, with a deep suspicion that something was wrong, yet never knowing what, didn’t ever ask. It was nice to receive attention from his mother, he had convinced himself.
But by age twelve, it wasn’t such a nice feeling anymore. Madeline snuck into his room whenever possible, her head immediately ducking underneath his blankets. Her wet mouth would wrap around his length, a whole inch larger now, and pleasure him in a way he didn’t understand. If he fought against her, or begged her to let him sleep, she’d shush him and continue without a care. She called these nights her Mommy Time, and if Malachai interrupted, she’d grow inpatient with him. Twice she slapped him across the face before putting her hands back on him. So, he eventually learned to let her have her way.
At fourteen, like most children his age, Kai was a tenacious kid. The more he acted out against his father, the more time he served in punishment. And every time he would be barred from being with his family, his mother would be his only visitor. Kai hated every aspect of his home life. He hated his siblings’ chatter, he hated his father’s hand, he hated his mother’s tongue. Most of his days were spent in his room, by choice or by rule, leaving him to rot through his teenage years.
Ten years had passed from the date he was banned from human contact. Eight had gone by since his mother took it upon herself to break that rule.
Madeline would have other children as the years went by. Year after year, his father would impregnate her, and she’d bear him another. It soon became more unusual to see her not pregnant than carrying. But whether she had just given birth or was still round, she would still come to see him in the night. Sometimes, her breasts would be full and leaking milk, and she would offer him a taste, but Kai would narrow his eyes and shake his head. The woman would shrug and continue her ministrations on his lower body. Kai would squeeze his eyes shut until the sinful pleasure lulled him to sleep.
A few times throughout his teenage years, Kai would ask questions about the rituals. Most of the time, she would refuse to answer, again, with a finger to her lips, but sometimes she’d give him something vague to chew on,
“This is common for boys your age, exploring your body. You’d be learning about this in school if you hadn’t gotten expelled. Since you can’t learn it there, I’m teaching you.”
Another common one would be, “you should be lucky to have someone touching you at all. Your father has forbidden it, and if you are to tell, we’d both be in trouble.”
So Kai never told. Because as much as he feared nights with his mother, he feared days with his father more. He knew, partly, that his mother was right. If she weren’t going to show him attention, he’d never get it again.
Nothing changed at sixteen. Nothing, except for the fact that he’s longer now and produces more. The feeling of his mother’s hand still feels wrong upon his body. Though with nothing to compare it to, nor anyone with whom he could discuss it, he doesn’t.
A couple of times, he’s felt a tension in his stomach not caused by her unlawful touches. Something needy from inside himself. He tries to ignore it, but ignoring it, he learns, only makes it worse. The few times he’s reached for himself, to follow some internal instinct he doesn’t understand, he’s retracted his hands immediately. The trashcan in his bathroom soon finds a new residency beside his bed.
Eighteen isn’t a healthy year for Malachai. He’s skin and bones, and face is a sickly pale color. Old clothes hang off his shoulders, barely fitting his frame. Bruises cover his body, both those visible in their purplish tint, and those invisible, known only in his mind.
His parents don’t seem to notice his decline. If they do, they don’t care. That is, until his little brother, Joey, pokes his arm one time, and looks up to his father. “Malachai doesn’t look so good, daddy.”
Joshua’s eyes go wide at the sight of his younger son touching his eldest. He sweeps him off his feet and scolds Kai, “do better.” Like Kai can control the way he looks when his father more often beats than feeds him.
After that, though, his parents give a little more attention to his appearance. His father makes sure he eats three meals, and his mother applies a salve to the bruises that his clothes don’t hide.
By twenty, he’s back to a normal weight. For the first time in years, he feels a strength accompany him, something he refuses to let slip through his fingers. His mind wants to fight; his body wants to escape. He’s been held down and tormented for twelve years. Twelve years too many, and won’t stand for a single one more.
Twenty, it seems, is a year of change for more than just Kai. The year prior, his mother fell pregnant again, but that time, with twins. When the ultrasound of the unborn fetuses was produced, the coven had a small celebration, as if this was something they’ve been waiting for. Kai, feeling confused, angry, humiliated, and anxious all in one, watched from the window. The longer he stared, the more numb he began to feel.
The twins’ arrival stole a lot of their mother’s attention. They were restless children, always seeming to need something from her. But despite their constant cries, she still made time to visit him in his bed. Fewer nights she’d come, though she demanded from him the same. So he let his mother do as she always had done, but now, instead of squeezing his eyes shut in the midst of the pain, he let his mind run wild. The pain turned to anger - red hot and eating him alive. Revenge carved itself a corner in his head, and hours were spent planning how he’d get it. The more space it took, the less he cared for other things, but Kai didn’t feel it necessary to occupy himself with anything else. In that moment, he chose to survive.
Later that year, his planning was cut short by his mothers death. She went in her sleep, in her own bed, and beside her husband. There was no warning, except for a mild flu she had earlier in the week. It was sudden, and unexplainable, but the doctor on call assured it was at least painless. Kai’s eye twitched at the news. Some dark part of him wanted her to suffer in her last moments. Just a little slice of what she made him feel would be enough retribution. Yet, she never paid. And now she was gone.
Twenty-four hours later, when Kai had served his punishment in silence, and was allowed to return to his mother’s bedside, the paramedics came to take her body. He didn’t care to see it, nor smell the rotting corpse his father had probably slept beside that night. The paramedics entered quietly and worked swiftly, as if spelled to not ask questions. A doctor spoke to Joshua in hushed silence, careful to not let children overhear. The children, herded in a corner by Josette, only stared at the scene of their mother being carried out. His twin sister had tears in her eyes, but none of them fell. She locked eyes with Kai. A face wet with rain met a desert. She looked away in disgust, while he looked down, feeling nothing.
“All due respect, Mr. Parker, if you had taken her to a doctor, we may have been able to catch if something was wrong earlier,” Kai heard the doctor say. His heartbeat quickens knowing there was a way to prevent this. Maybe she did suffer.
“Madeline hated doctors. I’d never make her do something she wouldn’t want to do.”
“It might have saved her life. You can’t have eight children without any medical intervention and expect no complications, sir.”
“I would never go against the will of my wife. She hated modern medicine. Speaking of, release her body to me after you find the cause of death. I would like to bury her in my family’s tradition.”
“Very well, Mr. Parker. And again, I’m sorry for your loss.”
Kai watched the body as it was wheeled out of the house, knowing in only a short time, it would be brought right back. His mother would be buried alongside the rest of the family, and the coven would gather to celebrate her life. Kai looked over to the small gravesite by the side of the house. Flowers had grown atop it, but they wouldn’t be there for much longer.
When paramedics finally began to drive away, Josette cracked. A whine escaped her lips, and it quickly became a sob. She fell to her knees. Her father and their siblings rushed to her side, offering comfort he’d never felt. Comfort, to mourn the loss of a woman who had only ever hurt him. Kai’s throat dries. His head hurts, and there’s a pang in his heart. But it’s not for love, nor mourning of the woman, but for rage. Rage that his childhood was so different from his twin’s. Jealousy, anger, resentment, towards all those in his family who didn’t share the same fate of his youth. Kai’s need for revenge didn’t dissipate after his mother’s death, though that’s what he had expected. In fact, it only grew.
It became his only comfort. Something he never felt from his family, but could find deep within himself. But to have it, he’d have to separate himself even more than he already was. A small price to pay: to sacrifice his sanity for survival. It was a price he was willing to pay.

Stereotypical Sociopath
kai parker works other tvd works main masterlist
Summary-> in attempts to avoid Kai, you go to the one place where he is least welcome, the Salvatore Boarding House. But nothing, even your own stubbornness is ever enough to keep him away from you. He always gets what he wants… (1.7k)
Warnings-> 18+ minors dni, smut, fwb, dirty talk, daddy kink, blowjob, degradation, fingering, unprotected sex
There were a lot of things that you could say about Kai Parker, he was selfish and homicidal and down right annoying. You couldn’t remember how Kai had first gotten you into his bed, it had all been a blur of haste insults that you had fired at the witch, you had pounded your fists against his chest until they were removing his shirt from his body. It was never meant to happen again after the first collision of your bodies, it was a one time thing you had told yourself.
But the sex continued to happen, time and time again, from the bathroom of the grill to against a tree in the woods, and many more places that you were too embarrassed to admit. Every time that you saw him there was a lustful shadow overbearing his eyes, you tried to avoid him in any social setting, and so instead of venturing somewhere public, you decided for somewhere that you visioned as a safe place. The Salvatore Boarding House. It was quiet by the entryway, or as far as you could hear, which surprised you. Often times than not, since Jeremy and Elena had moved into the residency, there was more life that had been brought into it. Having your childhood friends now live within the brothers’ domain inclined you to visit more regularly, even when there wasn’t a supernatural crisis.
Despite the lack of people in your peripheral, you continued to walk the hallway that was no doubt older than you were. It was eerie and suspiciously quiet, there was usually at least one person home. You treated lightly, holding in your breath, almost afraid of what could lie ahead. “Elena? Damon?” Just as you had expected, there was no response to your calling, you could only sigh and plop down on the couch, grabbing yourself a crystallised glass of Damon’s precious bourbon, swirling the contents around until you burned your throat with the distilled substance.
“Drinking alone I see…” the intruder’s voice made you jump as an electric swarm rose up your spine, the expensive glass slipping from your disturbed grasp and shattering into dozens of shards upon the wooden flooring. As your head snapped up to meet his cold eyes, you were figuratively compelled to flood with overbearing desire. Malachai goddamn Parker, it was impossible for him to leave you alone! It was infuriating, you were angry and horny at the same time, and it was all his fault. You groaned, none of your efforts to escape the curse that kept gravitating the two of you towards one another appeared to be working. “I didn’t mean to make you jump pretty girl, unless it was on top of me.” The bastard had the nerve to smirk, and upon reaction you flew to stand on your feet, standing before his smug self, his pleasure only radiating irritancy out of yourself. “Or you could be beneath me, I’m happy either way Y/N.”
“Will you please shut up for once in your life Kai?” He was really annoying you now, more so when he raised his brows, no doubt taking your words as an explicit suggestion. And so you raised your hand, swiftly bringing it towards his face to brandish him with a smack, however the witch caught your wrist, tutting disappointedly at your attempt of retaliation. “Naughty girl.” It was impossible to not melt from his degradation, feeling small as he dragged you closer towards him. “What would your little friends think if they knew that you were running around with the devil behind their backs? They would be so ashamed with all the things we have done, especially when they discover how much you crave the thrill. But is it really thrill that you can’t get enough of, or is it just my cock?” Kai was crude as he filled your head with these scenarios, you’d never admit it to him or anyone else, but you had a hunger for more. Perhaps if he wasn’t the sociopath that he had been forged into by his traditional coven, then things could have possibly turned out differently.
“Kai…” he faked a condescending pout as you spoke his name, his lips lingering just over yours, pinching your chin between his thumb and forefinger, his grey blue eyes sending a variation of emotions into your mortal soul. “That’s not my name sweet cheeks. Now why don’t you get down on your knees like a good little girl for daddy, and apologise to him in the way you do best?” He helped you sink down to be sat on your knees, submitted to him to appease his own pleasures. This was the confines of your friends’ home, it was more than wrong to be doing this here, but you were helplessly seduced as Kai released his belt from the grip around his waist, and undid his jeans, pulling them down so that his boxer covered hard on was mere inches from your awaiting lips. You hated yourself as you remembered that you had gone out of your way to keep your distance from the siphon, and you were stupid for doing so. This was exactly what you wanted, for the big of you to be entangled in a passionate mess, despite the terrible logic that scolded your brain for going on a forbidden adventure with your heart.
“Yes daddy,” It was too late for you, once again you were cradled by Kai’s trap, and you were willing to comply with everything that he said. He smiled at your obedience, finally giving into your needy expression and undressing his length, making you drool as you grew threateningly hungry for it. There was already precum oozed at his tip, he pushed it towards your mouth and you opened up wide for him, engulfing his cock past your lips, tearing a heavenly moan from the man who strewed his hands through the lengths of your hair, guiding your movements to pleasure himself.”i could spend all day with you like this.” He praised you, curing your locks around his knuckles so that he could force you to take him deeper. His tip abuse the back of your throat, gagging sounds emitting from you as tears dwelled in your eyes, planning to jump and run down your face.
Nevertheless it would be the worst thing imaginable if the whole charade the two of you were playing was to stop. The sex was mind blowing, but other than that you enjoyed being close to him, despite all the things he had done and proceeded to do. Without the bedding relations that you shared with Kai, he would be nothing more than your enemy. You felt as though he was just that as he pulled your head away from his lubricated cock, frowning menacingly up at him, though he silenced the argument that dared to spill with his lips, encompassing you in the moment as he smoothly laid you upon the ancient sofa, clambering atop of you as his fingers snuck under the shadow of your skirt, teasing you before plunging his digits into your cunt, breathing in your moans as he refused to disassociate his lips from your own. “Kai… fuck. I love you and your fingers.” Your eyes blew open widely as you realised that you had spoken your admission, and Kai paused, making you worry with every nerve in your body.
“Took your time to say it gorgeous.” He smiled, a genuine, toothy smile, and it felt like a weight had been lifted from your shoulders; he hadn’t even punished you for referring to him by his name, which was significantly unusual. Kai bowed down so that he could press a feather light kiss onto your forehead, a warmth of safety and acceptance washing over your body. “I love this pretty pussy of yours, but not as much as I think I love you.” He, after his long pause, continued to hammer his fingers into you, as though he hadn’t just made a large step into his progress of being a better man and feeling something that made him visibly human. He was experiencing a little thing called growth, and it made your heart swell from realising it. Though that clearly wasn’t on his mind once he removed his fingers from within your walls, sucking tour juices from around them as he situated himself, rubbing the head of his cock along your slit, plunging it in, causing you to euphorically cry out, having to bite his shoulder to muffle the pattern of noises that your brain arranged for you to release. “Oh my god.”
“Oh my god indeed. Seriously, what is wrong with you Y/N?” A new voice spoke, directed in the opposing direction as they had turned themself away to save their eyes from the sight. You were screwed, figuratively and physically as you ushered Kai off of you, knowing damn well that Damon, and who you could see from the back as Elena were repulsed by the choices that you had made. It was going to be a long explanation that would be worthy of some defence, but no matter what, you couldn’t disregard the love that you and Kai had uncovered. The witch sighed as he stood, having tucked himself away as Damon finally saw it for to turn around. “Come on Damon, our good little Y/N has to explore her deepest, darkest parts somehow. And on my part it’s from the inside out.” And that was no doubt through him, however the vampire shook his midnight locked head.
“I’m not on about you two screwing, we all realised that the two of you were fucking behind the scenes quite early on. But you broke my glass! How many am I expected to replace because of your slippery fingers? Don’t even get me started on when Lockwood was wolfing out on you and you smashed one in his face. Or…” he continued with his infinite examples, and you were aware whilst his present concern were his bourbon glasses, that he wasn’t pleased with the idea of you and Kai, it wasn’t his choice, and nothing he said could change the way you felt. And after all, you could always break another glass.

Favorite Sociopath
kai parker x reader
summary: damon and bonnie leave you in charge of babysitting kai. you accept willingly as time to get to know him.
tags: characters watching american horror story / ahs references, talking about trauma, past child abuse, childhood trauma, accidental cuddling / cuddling, bonding
word count: ~3.5k
“I’m almost finished, shut up,” Bonnie snaps at the brooding man beside her.
Damon puts his hands up, “jeez.”
“He’s in Georgia. At this location,” she points to the site on the map.
“What’s he doing there?”
“It’s your brother, you tell me.”
“It’s not like I control him!”
“Ah,” a voice interrupts their arguing, “the two of you, still bickering. Just like in the old days of 1994.”
“Shut up, Kai,” Damon orders the younger man.
“Harsh words! I’m hurt.” He grabs his chest as if he were stabbed.
“You’re fine.”
The siphon clicks his tongue, “so when are we leaving?”
“We? You’re not going anywhere.”
“Oh come on! I helped,” he gestures vaguely, “with the spell.”
“Suggesting a locator spell is not helping. But regardless, your help or lack thereof is not why you’re not coming. You’re dangerous; you can’t be trusted. You’re staying here. Y/N, you’re watching him.”
“What?” Bonnie whips to face Damon before you can even comment. “He cannot be alone with her, he’ll kill her! How do you think Elena will feel when she finds out you let the psychopath murder her cousin?”
“Please, she’ll be fine! She can handle her own.”
“Kai is a psychopath! Whether or not she can handle her own means nothing when you have a psychotic witch against a mere human!”
“Only slightly offended,” you mutter. Then louder, “I’ll be fine, trust me. Kai’s a sociopath, not a psychopath.”
“And that means what exactly? That he’s not capable of killing you?”
“No, I’m just saying… I don’t know… I trust him. Sociopaths at least have the capability to feel emotions, they’re just buried, or reserved for certain people. Psychopaths are the ones that scare me.”
Both are obviously baffled from your statement. Though as soon as Bonnie gets over it, she yells, “you trust him?! Are you crazy?”
Kai borrows your words, “only slightly offended.” It makes you chuckle. “Just a reminder - I’m right here.”
“And?”
“And, Bonnie, no. She’s not crazy. She can think for herself, y’know? And she’s right - I’m not going to hurt her.”
“I don’t believe you.”
“Then don’t. You’re not the one being told to babysit me.”
“Damon, we cannot leave her with him!” She turns back to the man.
“Well we’re running out of options. We could go with my original plan and leave these two here, go retrieve Stefan, and return. Or, we could bring them with us. Listen to Kai talk non-stop all the way to Georgia, grab Stefan, squeeze all three in the back of my camaro, and drive all the way back, with Kai still yammering. Does that sound fun to you?”
“Better than letting Y/N die at the jam-covered hands of him.”
You roll your eyes, “Bonnie, I’ll be fine. I promise. You two need to go get Stefan before he attacks someone else, and Georgia’s a long drive. Kai and I will be fine, and if not, there’s plenty of people I can call for help. Not only that, plenty of places I can hide in this massive house.”
“Just not under the bed,” Kai smirks, “I’ll find you there.”
You stifle a laugh as you meet Bonnie’s eyes.
Kai notices her expression, too, and coughs, “just a joke. Very bad joke.”
“No more jokes.”
Seeing the fire in his friend’s eyes, Damon chooses the next moment to interrupt. “You’re right, Georgia’s a long drive. Kai, no leaving the house. Y/N, watch him carefully. No killing, no threatening, no nothing. Call Rick if you need anything-”
“Ew,” you cut him off.
“Alright. Call, I don’t know, Jeremy then. What’s wrong with Rick?”
“Weird, just weird. Might be the beard. Might be the…”
“Spit it out, Y/N.”
“Nah.”
Bonnie gives you a glare.
“Fine, I’ll call him. But I’ll be fine. We’ll be fine. Right, Kai?”
“Mhm.”
“See?”
“Whatever. Just be careful.”
◇◇◇◇
Twenty minutes later, they’re finally out the door.
“Finally!” You collapse on the couch, “peace and quiet!”
Kai takes the chair across from you, then watches as you get comfortable.
“Want to watch something?”
“I am.”
“No, you goof. I mean on the TV,” you roll your eyes playfully at his comment.
“Like what?”
“I don’t know? Let’s see if there’s Netflix on here.”
“What’s a Netflix?”
“You’ll see.”
After a bit of scrolling - the brothers did, in fact, have Netflix downloaded - your eyes light up at one show in particular.
“Oh this is a fun one.”
“American Horror Story?”
“Mhm! Murder. Mayhem. It’s a masterpiece.”
“You’re into that sorta thing?”
You look at him, “why? Do I not look like it to you?”
“I don’t know, you just seem so sweet and innocent.”
“Oh, Kai Parker,” you coo at him, “that’s the thing about girls. Even the sweetest ones have a dark streak in there somewhere.”
His eyes stay focused on you, nearly black and unblinking, but it’s hard to miss the lump in his throat.
“So you want to watch it?”
“You’ve got me intrigued. Now I’ve got to see it.”
You can’t help but giggle in excitement as you press start on the first episode. “They don’t have to be watched in order, but season one is a classic. Wait til you meet the love of my life, Tate Langdon.”
“Who’s Tate?”
“Oh, just my favorite sociopath,” you wink at him. “Aside from you, of course.”
His cheeks flush, but he tries to hide it with a cough.
“It’s starting. Meet,” you spread your hands out as an introduction, “the twins, that I honestly forgot opened the show. And I don’t know their names.”
Kai chuckles, smiling at you before turning his eyes to the TV.
Only half of your attention is on the show, as the other half watches for the witch’s reactions. You notice a small grin when the twin - Brad? - gets sucked into the basement’s abyss. The expression should scare you, but you find yourself more entertained than anything else. His face changes, however, when Ben’s caught cheating on his wife. Kai’s eyes darken and jaw tenses. The smile returns when Vivian cuts the man’s arm in a fury, making you giggle.
“He deserved that,” Kai justifies.
“Oh definitely.”
“I don’t know that much about… like, love, and all that, but you should never cheat on someone you love.”
Ignoring the butterflies in your stomach, you smile, “okay, Tate.”
He cocks his head at you.
“You just nearly quoted him verbatim. Couldn’t help it. You’re right, though.”
You guys continue to watch.
Eventually, the scene fades into the introduction. You can’t help but stick your tongue out at it, and don’t miss Kai muttering, “ew. That’s a little creepy, all those dolls and jars.” He grimaces.
“Sometimes the intros are scarier than the actual show.”
“How many seasons are there?”
“Four, but I bet there’ll be more.”
“Good. Ten minutes in and I’m hooked.”
“Season 3 is called Coven. But I really want you to meet Tate.”
“Coven? Is it anything like mine?”
“Well, let’s see from what you told me about yours... Shitty leaders - check. Awful parents - check. Stupid traditions - check. Yeah, similar.”
“Wait… you believe me? About my parents?”
“Of course,” you say without hesitation, “I mean, they locked you away for god’s sake. Of course I believe how they treated you. Why it made you snap.” Your tone quiets at the end, afraid to hit a nerve. Kai, however, doesn’t seem bothered by the mention of his crimes. He’s too focused on someone actually believing him; someone listening.
The two of you stare at each other for a moment before he remembers to respond. “Thank you. For believing me.”
“All the evidence is stacked against your father. And if we’re being honest, dads are usually the cause of trauma, in my personal opinion. I mean, just look at my childhood. Hey, look at Ben Harmon,” you gesture to the TV, “every shitty thing is his fault. Or, maybe I’m projecting. Either way, he sucks.”
Kai laughs.
“Regardless, yes, I believe you, Kai. You’re not alone in your feelings. And like I told Bonnie, I do trust you.”
He’s quiet for a second, “it means a lot.”
You nod.
“Back to the show now?”
“Sure.”
You push the back button a few times to where you guys were before your mini conversation. For a second as it starts to play, you keep your eyes on him. His lips form a small smile. Fingers are still, resting on the armchair. His posture, though…
“Hey, Kai?”
“Hm?”
“Are you comfy?”
“Enough, yeah, why?”
“Come here, sit with me.” You sit up to pat the pillow where your head had just been. “Don’t hurt your neck looking up like that.”
“Are you sure?”
“‘Course. I don’t bite.”
The witch chuckles as you move the pillow for him to sit beside you. He sinks into the couch and gives you a smile that reawakens the butterflies in your stomach.
“Better?”
“Mhm, thank you.”
“Is it okay if I touch you?”
“What, why?” The question catches him off guard.
“It’s okay to say no, I just wanted to ask in case I lean into you by accident. Don’t want to startle you, or cross a line.”
“No, um, wait. It’s okay.”
“You sure?”
“Yeah, you’re okay.”
Sensing his hesitation, you take slow movements to get back into your comfortable position. Soon, your shoulders touch gently, causing him to flinch a little.
“I’m okay still. I wasn’t… expecting it. I mean, I know you told me, but I wasn’t allowed to… I, uh, I’ve been isolated a lot of my life.” He debated his words carefully before settling on the explanation. “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t apologize, sweet. It’s not your fault. I’m guessing your father’s responsible for that, too?”
Kai nods slowly. “As a siphon, who didn’t know how to control their power, any form of contact would harm the other person. If I was allowed out of my room, I had to wear gloves, but even then, wasn’t allowed to touch anyone. Then I was in the prison world for eighteen years, alone.”
Hearing another bit of his past makes your heart break. Neither Damon nor Bonnie have told you much about him, except for a few antics from the prison world. They call him dangerous, but haven’t even told you his side of the story. As you learn more about him, everything in you wants to reach out and give him a tight hug, but you refrain from doing that to not startle him.
He acknowledges your silence, “is this the part where you run?”
You snap out of your thoughts, “no, Kai. No, I’m not going to run. I’m sorry, I was just thinking. How awful of a man to treat his son that way.” Suddenly, you turn your body so you can look him in the eye. “You’re safe with me, Kai. Okay? Ever need to talk, ever need a hug. I’m here.”
“Okay. Um, thank you.”
“So… you okay if I…” you slowly get closer to him until your shoulders are touching again. “This too much?”
“No, you’re okay. Feels nice, actually.”
“Tell me if you need me to move.”
He nods, then pushes play on the remote.
A deep focus takes over to the both of you as the show continues. At some point, Kai’s hand begins to absentmindedly trail along your arm - a gesture you don’t notice until you feel a chill throughout your body. He feels it too, and immediately retracts his hand.
“It’s okay. I like it.”
Kai doesn’t say anything, but to your delight, puts his hand back on your arm. You stay like that throughout the episode, too relaxed to recognize the heaviness in your eyes as sleep soon consumes your body.
◇◇◇◇
Sometime later, your eyes flutter open, making you confused. There’s no sound, not even the TV, but it’s a comfortable silence, not one that feels threatening. Slowly, you wake up more fully and are able to better take in your senses. You’re still on the couch, but laying on your back. Your head is on something soft, but not pillow-soft. A hand runs along your arm - just as it was before you fell asleep… Kai. Where’s Kai?
You try to ask for his name, but in your state, all that comes out is a whine.
Nonetheless, he answers. “Hey, are you awake?”
“Kai?”
“Yeah, it’s me. Did you sleep well?”
“Yeah, but when did I fall asleep? Where are you?”
Eventually you’re able to pull your body up so that you’re sitting, not laying, on the couch.
“I’m right here,” he waves to you as you reposition.
“Did I fall asleep on your lap?” The realization hits you, “I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to-”
“Hey, hey, it’s okay. No worries, I, uh, kinda liked the contact. Like I said, I kinda lacked that for a while.”
“I know, but I would’ve asked first.”
“Technically, you did. And you can’t control being tired, it’s fine. Trust me, I don’t mind being your pillow.”
A blush creeps onto your cheeks.
“In fact, I wouldn’t argue if you wanted to lay back down, because now I’m missing it.”
That’s all the convincing you need to reassume your position in his lap. Though this time, you move your head so you’re looking up at him. “Hey, Kai?”
“Mhm?”
“I’m happy you trust me enough to be this close. I like it, too. And I like being someone you are comfortable around.”
“Me too, Y/N. Oh, and hey, I paused the tv about an hour ago because I wanted to watch it with you but you were asleep. But we’re some way through episode two.”
“I slept that long?”
“Yeah, but it’s okay. I’ve been on Twitter, so I haven’t been completely bored.”
“Not Tweeting pictures of me sleeping, right?” You joke with a snort.
He snaps his fingers, “aw, I should’ve! Quick, go back to sleep!”
“Hell no! The whole Twitter-World doesn’t need to see my sleeping face! Bad enough you already did!”
“Awh, what are you talking about? You have a cute sleeping face. Twitter would thank you for being able to see it.”
The blush and the butterflies return with that comment. “I-uh-thanks.”
“I’m serious!”
“I, um, uh… do you want to keep watching, or are you bored?”
“I’m down to keep watching if you are.”
“Okay, press the play button.”
“Oh, wait, wait, wait, before we do - I met Tate!”
“Oh, yes! How’d you like him?”
“He’s fun! Highly relatable all the way down to the music taste. I see why you like him.”
“See?! My friends think I’m crazy for it, but he’s such a good character. And the way he absolutely loves Violet - he’d do anything for her! I mean, yeah, he killed a bunch of kids, but I don’t know, maybe if his mother didn’t fucking abuse him, he wouldn’t have snapped the way he did.”
You see Kai’s jaw set out of the corner of your eye. “Sorry, uh, spoiler alert.”
“It’s okay. Do you really blame his mom for that?”
“I mean, yeah. Yes, he was the one to carry out the crimes, but you can only take so much hurt and abuse before you snap. Emotions fizzle out until there’s just a numb feeling, and then… well, I imagine it’s hard to make rational decisions when you feel that way for so long.” A second later, you realize you’ve been ranting. “I’m sorry, I’ve just really studied his character. Done a lot of research, including research on sociopathy, and the long-term effects of childhood abuse. Helps me understand him, and what he felt, and what caused him to snap. Sorry, I’m ranting again, oh jeez!”
“It’s okay,” Kai swallows hard, “I, uh, feels nice to be understood. For Tate, I mean.”
You stiffen. “Kai?”
“Mhm?”
“Did your parents hurt you?”
“I mean, I was isolated for a long time.”
“I know that, but…” you don’t want to say it. Don’t want to open a wound; don’t want to push him past his limits of comfort. But, you need to know. “Did they hurt you?”
A visible lump forms in his throat. “What counts as that? Cause I mean, some parents just toss their hands in the air. Some others hit with shoes, I’ve heard. Jo’s friend actually mentioned one time that they had a wooden spoon reserved for punishments.” He’s deflecting. You can’t blame him; he’s obviously been through a lot.
He rambles on like this until he meets your eyes. Tears welling, threatening to spill. A trembling lip. You know. He knows you know.
“Yeah, sometimes, Dad would. Most of the time he’d use magic, probably just to make a point about me being the abomination that can’t do magic.”
“For what reasons? Like, what did he see as a reason to hurt you?”
“Hmm, like if I talked back, or left my room without permission, or spoke to someone outside of the coven, like a sibling’s friend or neighbor. If he were really angry, like if I siphoned a sibling, he’d get more physical. Let’s just say, there’s probably a reason everyone wore long-sleeves with band tees in the nineties. Cover up those bruises with some devil band your parents hate,” cocking his head, he adds, “which then leads to more bruises but for different reasons.” He then pauses to clear his throat. “Eventually, I learned how to siphon the magic he’d throw at me. For three days, I felt so powerful. He’d hit me with a spell, and I could absorb some of it to fire back at him. But while I got a few good licks in, it mostly just made him angrier. He started getting even more physical, and later, would only include magic once I was down and unable to think up a spell.”
“Kai-”
“And then Mom died, and he only got worse. I mean, Mom and I never had a relationship so I wasn’t particularly affected by her passing. He was, though, and he got more violent towards me. I mean, he was now single-handedly raising eight kids - he had to take his anger out on one of them. Who better than the one you already hate? Anyway, life continued. Dad got more secretive, more dangerous.” Kai actually laughs, “I even feared him a little. I didn’t know if I’d ever escape that stupid bedroom, and even if I did, he’d make my life hell. Not only that, but it felt like he was planning something. And what do you know?! He was. Right before Jo and I’s birthday, the stupid fucking coven planned their monthly meeting in our house. Directly under my bedroom. I heard them through the vent, how they weren’t going to let us merge, and how they were going to wait until Liv and Luke were twenty-two instead. I had my suspicions about this - I knew something was off about the way he was acting - but for him to break coven tradition just to prevent me from merging? Fuck him. Coven always came before family with him, but he’d break the rules because he hated me so much.” Fire dances in his eyes, but he calms down a second later. “And that night is when I snapped. Something took over and I did to my family what my Dad probably wishes he did to me the night I was born. When he came back after whatever the hell the coven had left to do, he found Jo. And from that point on, I think you know how it went.”
Some time through his story, you had sat up to face him, leaving you now right in front of him as tears roll off your cheeks. “Kai…” There’s no words for what he’s just told you. Instead, you reach forward and hug him. Your arms wrap around his waist and you bury your face into his chest. Tears continue to fall, soaking his shirt, making you cry harder. A few moments later, you feel his arms on your back and he pulls you close.
You two stay like that for a couple minutes. It’s nice.
“I don’t want to pull away, but I want to tell you…” he lets you lift your head to face him again. “It feels good to have told someone. Thank you for listening to me, Y/N.”
“I’m glad you told me. I’m so sorry you had to go through that.”
He responds by pulling you back into the hug, “so, yeah… pretty relatable, your favorite sociopath.”
“Mmmm, actually, that title belongs to you,” you lean back so he can catch your wink.
“Honored, Miss Y/N. Should we get back to watching your, ahem, second favorite sociopath?”
“Let’s do it.”
“Pressing playyyy, now,” he drags out the ‘y’. “Oh, and don’t you dare think of letting go.”
You look at your position. Sitting on his lap, your arms around him, his around you. Your head on his chest, and his fingers tracing your back. “Wouldn’t dream of it.”

omg peter and reader taking a walk on some little trail and they push one another into leaf piles and being love sick idiots <3
this is so cute!!! tysm for the request <3 i went the pining best friends route rather than established relationship, hope that’s okay! | 0.6k of fluff!
You and Peter have been friends for what feels like forever. He’s in almost every memory you have, as far back as they go. Your childhood best friend, your now best friend, the only boy you’ve ever loved.
Growing up across the hall from each other had its perks. A mother figure in aunt May, someone to walk to school with, a door that was always open for you.
You’ve spent so much time with him that it’s sort of impossible to imagine things any other way. Not that you’d need to.
Late September has a chill seeping into the city. Leaves changing color, hands hidden in jacket pockets, cheeks and noses bitten by cold wind. Fall surrounds you and you don’t mind one bit. Not when Peter’s beside you, too.
He’d come knocking on your door earlier (even though he doesn’t need to knock, as you’ve told him countless times) and asked you to go for a walk with him. Easy, like breathing or blinking, you’d said yes.
It’s nice to have someone to do these things with, to be mundane and quiet without a trace of awkwardness. All of this comfort and you’ve yet to tell him how you feel, how in love you are.
Peter walks close enough to you that your arms brush with every step, jacket against jacket, warmth seeping into your skin every time. When he walks alone, he’s quicker, strides full, earbuds in. With you, he’s learned to match your pace, to slow himself to stay next to you.
“You cold?” Peter asks, even when he’s the one with his cheeks pink from the breeze.
“Mmm, just my hands.” You tilt your head up to the sky, then towards him. “It’s a nice day.”
And it is. Despite the chill, the sun’s shining, the trail you and Peter are taking tucked away enough from the city that it doesn’t feel like you’re in it. Rustling leaves in the wind, fallen ones littering your path, the smell of fall in the air. Your favorite boy as company.
“Yeah, it is,” he says, eyes catching yours. Then, he reaches for the hand closest to him, his fingers curling around yours, and tucks your joined hands into his coat pocket. “There.”
You feel warmer already, his palm against yours, but you try to play it off. “How’s your pocket any warmer than mine?”
“‘Cause your coat’s a joke. I’ve got fleece-lined pockets, ‘kay? Way warmer, honey.”
“Leave it to you to be a nerd, even about a jacket.”
He shrugs innocently, shoulder to a rosy cheek.
Peter takes any excuse he can to be close to you, to touch you, and he knows what that means. He knows he loves you, and he’s not really hiding it. It sinks into everything he does. Walking closer to the road, letting you have the last sip of your shared milkshakes, going to see the latest horror movie with you when he hates the genre.
As much as Peter wants to tell you, he also wants this to work, to fall into place the way he thinks things will. You’ve had your whole lives with each other so far, and there’s the rest of a lifetime to go.
“Did you just call me a nerd?”
“You heard me, Parker.”
“Well, in that case…”
One second you’d been walking beside him, the next, Peter’s pushed you over into a pile of leaves beside the trail. It’s probably the most gentle push ever, but it’s enough to make you trip over your feet.
“Peter,” you groan, dragging out his name. “At least help me up.”
You hold out your hand, laying on your back, leaves probably stuck to your clothes and in your hair. Peter takes it—of course, he does—and with a tug, you’ve got him laying next to you.
“I always fall for that one,” he says, his hand still in yours, shoulders shaking a little with his laughter.
You turn your head to look at him, and he does the same, your noses an inch apart, twin smiles on your faces.
A lifetime to go, Peter thinks.

Burning candles lined each side of the table where Rose and Kai sat across from each other with a map between them. He suggested they use Portland, Oregon as a starting point to locate the ascendant. He told her it was the hometown of the Gemini leader. He lifted the dagger and dragged the jagged edge across his palm to draw blood before dripping it on the map. In turn, Rose started the incantation: “Phasmatos Tribum, Nas Ex Veras, Sequitas Sanguinem…”
He watched, waiting for the location to reveal itself but nothing happened. Even the flames kept a consistent burn, failing to rise as they should in reaction to magical energy. She continued the chant, her voice wavering until he stopped her. “What are you thinking about right now?” he asked.
“I don’t know… I just don’t want to mess this up.”
“That’s your problem. If you keep imagining yourself failing, then that’s what will manifest in your spells. Magic draws on your energy and emotions.” She nodded and took a deep breath to settle her nerves before beginning again. The crimson droplets twitched before they conjoined into one surging arrow as the candle fire erupted into a light roar. Rose peaked down at the map. “Keep going. You’re almost there.”
She continued until the blood gathered in one spot, the candle flames dying out in unison. “Oh. my. god. It worked…” she whispered as soon as her eyes opened.
“Don’t sound so shocked. You’re a Bennett witch. You know, my coven has a long history with Bennetts. Your magic has to be one of the most powerful of any coven, that’s why they seal prison worlds with it.” He searched her eyes, detecting insecurity, “you doubt yourself too much.”
Her face warmed, but she didn’t avert her eyes from his. “Thank you.. for the advice.”
“Don’t mention it.”
Without wasting time, they got on the road to Oregon, with Kai taking the first turn behind the wheel. After only half an hour on the road the silence unnerved him, prompting him to strike up a conversation.
“You never told me how you ended up here.” He glanced at her.
“The truth is, my sister Bonnie was supposed to, not me. Her life was bound to the Other Side but it was falling apart and I couldn’t sit back and let her die... again.”
“So, you sacrificed yourself for her?”
“Yeah.. I guess I did. I was looking for any way to help, then this spell practically fell into my lap. It let me switch places with her and time was running out so… I just did it.”
Confusion contorted his face “But why?”
She turned sharply, “Because she’s my sister and she always puts everyone before herself, especially me. But more than that, she’s the smartest and most beautiful person I know. If anyone deserves life, it's her,” she frowned, “if I had more time, I would have told her that.”
He wanted to ask more questions because truthfully, the idea of loving someone, let alone a sibling that much was.. odd, but he saw how emotional it made her, so he went the reassuring route. "You can tell her everything you need to when we get you back home."
She nodded.
After a day and a half, it neared midnight when they arrived in Portland. Rose snored softly beside him having been asleep for the better part of an hour. Kai took over the last stretch of driving, glad that she was sleeping so he wouldn’t have to pretend to follow the map. He didn’t need the locator spell in the first place. The ascendant was exactly where he left it. The spell was a test that showed him she had the ability to do magic. Her low confidence and inconsistency could be an obstacle but he hoped that wouldn't be an issue come the eclipse.
They pulled up to a large white house at the end of a gravel road surrounded by a modest expanse of field and woodland. He nudged her awake before they got out and approached the house.
“The ascendant is here?” she asked, staring back at the facade.
“The spell led us to this address,” he confirmed.
An odd feeling took hold of her. Maybe it was dread, but she couldn’t quite place it. Whatever it was left her feet stationary at the cobblestone just before the porch steps. “Rose… Roseee, are you.. coming?”
She nodded and followed him, pushing down the indiscernible feeling.
Little did she know, this place had unpleasant memories for many, especially those familiar with its bloody history. Having grew to befriend his demons, Kai found a twisted comfort with the place that nurtured them through a childhood of abuse and depravation.
They searched the house together, starting with the ground floor and moving deeper until they reached the study. Her eyes locked onto the brown trunk against the far wall. She removed the heavy grimoires stacked on top and fumbled with the lock.
“I have a feeling it’s in here but the trunk is locked,” she stated. Kai searched the desk, opening drawers until he found a small key. He crouched down beside her and put the key in the lock, turning until the subtle click sounded. She reached inside, pulling out a circular piece of metal with a small reflective crystal in the center.
Before the night ended, Kai brought her down to the nearby caverns which he said would be an ideal location to access direct moonlight for the spell. Rose followed in silent awe, tracing her fingers along the granite walls that glistened in hues of blue. They stopped below the skylight which granted direct access to the moon above. “It’s beautiful,” she remarked breathlessly. He turned to her, immediately noticing the way her eyes sparkled, taking on a silvery color in place of their usual hazel hue. Her gaze met his just before he could look away and pretend he wasn’t staring.
“We should head back and get some rest. It’s been a long day,” he finished with a stretch and a yawn.
Bubbles rose to the surface as he topped her glass with Pinot Grigio. Kai insisted she relax while he made dinner in exchange for the meal she made him the other night. She complied despite her desire to help, not only because she knew her way around a kitchen but also just to be close to him. His energy, his scent, the slightest physical contact gave her full body goosebumps.
Sip after sip had her inhibitions waning until her eyes shamelessly traced his body, the contour of his back, the ever moving muscles that bulged along his arms as he worked with his hands. He was saying something, but it all faded into the background. His broad shoulders were strained by his tight t-shirt, sleeves clinging to his biceps. She silently thanked him for taking off that hoodie before cooking. He poured some wine into the hot pan before bringing the bottle to his lips and taking a generous sip.
She watched with baited breath.
He swallowed then turned to her suddenly, “Do you like shellfish?”
“Yes!” She blurted out loud. If her face could get any hotter it would have, “I mean, yeah… shellfish is fine,” she murmured quietly. Kai turned back to the stove, stifling a chuckle.
They ate a shrimp pasta with a white wine reduction and finished off the bottle of Pinot. Perhaps it was the wine or the way he looked at her like she was the most interesting person alive but she felt open enough to tell him all about her life back in Mystic Falls.
Although he liked to talk, Kai was attentive to her stories, vampires, love-triangles, originals and travelers. He took particular interest when she mentioned a pair of twins, Liv and Luke Parker. “Bonnie met Liv in her occult studies class. She’s really powerful. She gave me a few lessons in channeling.”
Kai looked up from his wine glass, “what about the guy... Luke?”
Rose thought for a second, “Oh, I only met him once. He was nice and I heard he was even more powerful than Liv.”
As the meal wrapped up, he asked if she enjoyed it. “It was delicious. Where did you learn to cook like this?”
He chuckled. “I’ve had to cook for myself for almost 20 years now, so I’ve picked up a few things along the way.”
“How did you do it? Spending so many years alone without anyone to talk to must have been difficult,” she inquired.
Kai offered a strained smile, “Loneliness isn’t new to me. I've always been by myself for as long as I can remember.”
“Why?” she asked.
“My dad kept me away from my family. He said I was an abomination. In his defense, I’m not like other witches in my coven.. I can’t make my own magic. I can only siphon it from others. Ever since I was little, he forced me to stay away from everyone else or face whatever punishment he felt like doling out. Early on, I wanted to be around them, but I quickly realized it was safer to just stay to myself.”
“Kai, that’s horrible. He couldn't be more wrong about you.”
He raised his hand, “If I touched you right now, I could siphon your magic right out of your body. Doesn’t that scare you?”
Rose stared back unwavering, “I’m not afraid of you.” She closed the distance between their hands brushing her fingers against his. “I trust you and I’d let you have some if you asked, I'm not that good with magic anyway.”
For the first time, she did something he didn't expect. He could almost get lost in her soft touch and genuine eyes but couldn’t afford to. Reminding himself of his plan in which her purpose did not include making him vulnerable. His hand slid away and he rose from the table.
“I should get started on the dishes.”
“I’ll help you,” she chirped after him.
“No-no, I got it,” he insisted.
She frowned, suddenly noticing his mood change. Whether she had crossed a boundary she wasn't supposed to or the topic of his childhood made him uncomfortable (or both), she didn't push it any further, hoping that by giving him space, he would feel more at ease and open up to her about his past but clearly, that wouldn't happen tonight. Rose stood up and said goodnight before heading upstairs.

Hi! I just like binge read all of your tvd post and I adore them, I feel like you talk about the Mikaelson the way I feel about them, like I love the characters but they ARE awful and it causes this very push and pull with the way I view them and I'm ngl the fandom doesn't help when I'm trying to acknowledge the pit falls of the characters. that and I can't articulate the way I view characters well and I just really appreciate how multi dimensionally you view them because it really refreshing to see some one put it into words in a way I can't.
I don't know if this is the kind of thing you do or anything but I was wondering if I could ask you your opinion on Kai Parker? I feel like I view him the way I do Klaus and kol in sense. Like obviously he's a bad person but I feel like the level of fucked up he is and why hes that level of fucked up makes him a really interesting and enjoyable character for me, and it's kinda hard for me to say this because I Adore Bonnie Bennett. I personally don't believe liking one character cancels out the liking another but seeing how the fandom acts about it especially how many people will stand by Kia entirely and make Bonnie out to be this monster (because they're racist weirdos point blank.) makes it harder for me to feel comfortable voicing my intrestest in him as a character. Now I do think a lot of factors played into Kai becoming who he is and I can understand why people would empathize with him but I don't think it justifys how weird they are to Bonnie, yk? Idk this wasn't about Bonnie I got carried away but yeah I'd love your option about Kia Parker if you have one. I also understand entirely if you don't like him obviously everyone's entitled to there opinion and he did kill his siblings and stuff, but I'd love to hear your opinion on him regardless if your interested, that is. have a good day/night :)
Hello, love! I'm really glad you do, and I definitely agree. This fandom is very, very strict in which characters you can like and which ones you cannot. It's exhausting, to be honest.
I definitely like Kai, he was the only thing that kept my attention glued to the screen after the Originals left and he made the plot more entertaining. He was funny, downright evil and enjoyable to watch, but he was, at least for me, a very obvious mix between all the main villains/antagonists (Klaus, Damon, Kol, Katherine), and the writers clearly intended for their audience to see him as irredeemable, and this is of course tied to the fact there were no available white women to beacon him into "becoming a better person". Bonnie was around, but for obvious reasons she could never be that woman, though the writers certainly played around bonkai, having Kai have a clear interest in her even after she wasn't the key to make him escape his prison world.
I definitely think Kai had a rough childhood and did not deserve to be isolated, though that obviously doesn't excuse what he did to his siblings, but that's what makes him a good character in my eyes. He was a good antagonist but an awful evil person, the circumstances surrounding why he became that person are tragic and sad, and that's okay, because that's in my opinion exactly what a character like Kai should be. And no, that doesn't excuse what he did to his family either, before anyone thinks that's what I was implying.
Though I do not understand why Kai gets so much hate over the whole "killing children" as if the Mikaelson or the Salvatore had gone through centuries of their lives without harming a single child (Klaus ordered to have his unborn daughter killed, for god's sake), and it's really funny how bonkai is portrayed as this top awful abusive couple when every single ship in tvd is. I definitely get the appeal of Bonnie and Kai, the only thing that prevents me from shipping them is the fact she nearly killed herself because of him, there are a few lines I won't cross when it comes to shipping, sa/rape and suicide are on that list, but people need to stop acting like they're worse than the other more popular couples.
To summarize it, I like Kai a lot, I understand why some other people don't (I do, really!), but nothing justifies what he put his family and Bonnie through.
Thanks for the ask, darling. You have a good day/night too!

The character: the reference and
inspiration :
OMG?! IS THAT ZHENYA FROM CODE NAME ANASTASIA'S?!!
I'm trying to draw men more often because i always draw women
Kai Parker William, brother of deily wilson William. Cousin to enji and Marco. He is the first oc I drew that's a men (I have undertale oc that I would consider as he them but that doesn't count) he is also the first gay oc I have. The lore he's in is called "last Change".
Last Change was supposed to be "last chance" but my dumboo couldn't spell it right back then, so that's the canon name. Anyway in his original story, he was supposed to be the second lover of Mila and a childhood friend of her. The reason why I changed his role is because he looked like a twink in his old design like DANM💀💀

a/n: anon, i apologize once more for the amount of time this took! i hope you like it, and i hope i did taylor swift justice. 🩷 i also hope it makes sense bc sometimes i feel like my thoughts are just all over the place 😅
You were staring daggers into the back of his head, three days after a drastic turning point in their lives. And he, feeling your eyes upon him, turned to face you and smiled. That enraged you like nothing else; no man had ever had such an audacity with you, to raise the hell that he had and still offer a smile. You looked back down at your drink, still fuming, and still aware of him watching you, and texted your friends about it. One replied with an equal disgust, another sent a funny-to-her joke, and there was no response from the third.
“Maybe he’s got a sweet spot for you,” she had said.
“Ha.”
A sweet spot that’d make him kill you last, maybe.
You rolled your eyes exhaustedly, but by the time you looked back down, someone had slunk into the booth across from you. You jumped, then rolled your eyes a second time at the realization of who it was.
“Hey cutie.”
“Don’t call me that.”
Kai shrugged, unbothered. He kept eye contact with you in a way that made it hard to look away; his blue eyes seemed to pierce right into your soul. They weren’t bright, like Damon’s, but instead had a touch of darkness in them. Like storm clouds rolling in on a bright, sunny day. They threaten rain, but you’re not sure if the downpour will come today or tomorrow.
Kinda like how he came into Mystic Falls.
“What do you want?” You bit, after about thirty seconds of staring.
“Are you scared of me?”
“Excuse me?”
“Are you afraid of me?” He repeated, eerily softly.
“Why would you think that?” Forced bravery is better than none, especially when faced with Kai Parker.
“There’s a slight tremor in your voice. Only one finger touches the table, as if you’re unable to settle. You struggle to meet my eyes.”
“What are you, a psychologist?”
“I’m a sociopath.”
Shocker.
“So?”
“I notice things.” He took a sip of your coffee. Reached out across the table, met your eyes, and sipped your drink. Again, the audacity. “I spent a lot of my childhood isolated. I had a lot of little brothers and sisters, and they were all taught to be afraid of me. I know how to read the signs.”
“I’m not afraid of you.”
“That’s what they’d say, too.”
“Well I’m not your siblings, and I’m not putting up an act. I don’t trust you, and I think you’re an ass, but I’m not afraid of you.” Your statement’s bold, but he had struck something fierce in you. A nerve, maybe on purpose, that wasn’t going to let him win this time.
Kai smiled at that. His gaze dropped to the table, surveying your hands once more. His own pointer finger dragged along the wood. “I like you, Y/N. You’re plucky.”
The words took a moment to register - Kai saying he liked you. Kai didn’t like anyone.
He got up to leave, causing you to turn towards him, prepared to jump out of the booth if you had to. “Well don’t.”
He cocked his head. “What?”
“I don’t want you to like me. I want nothing to do with you; you said it yourself, you’re a sociopath, and I don’t need that kind of bad energy in my life.”
That seemed to be funny to him, judging by the way he chuckled. “Okay, Y/N.” He put his hands up in surrender. “I won’t like you then.”
And with that, he was gone.
Of course, he wasn’t gone - gone. Kai was never gone - gone from anything, even when people yelled at him to leave. He would disappear for a couple days, but he always came back.
And somehow, after your interaction, you’d see him more frequently at the grill, too. He’d never talk to you, but you could feel his gaze. His stone cold blues would linger on you, almost like an animal stalking prey.
It made you anxious, jittery. But somewhere, secretly, also a bit excited.
He was dangerous in a way that drew you in. He had this aura about him that intrigued you as much as it scared you. You knew what he had done, and what he was capable of, and yet he still occupied the curious corners of your mind.
And somehow, he seemed to know that.
♫
How it happened from there is something you still question. Death glares became stolen glances, became blushing smiles, and by the next time he joined you at your booth, you didn’t try to fight him off. Kai ordered an uncharacteristically pink cocktail to match your own tropical choice. Neither said much as you both drank the rum mixtures down to the ice. You communicated in eye contact, mostly, as if daring the other to speak. Your stubborn personalities that should’ve clashed seemed to meld together instead. An intense staring contest was born. You found yourself entertained in the game, and quickly, enjoying it, too.
The booze soaked your brain as you continued to drink; your thoughts were fuzzy, and whenever you tried to catch them, they’d dissipate like cotton candy dropped in water. When Liv closed the restaurant around midnight, she unknowingly crashed the floodgates that weakly stood between you two. Ten feet out onto the street, you fell into him and he held you up. You laughed in his arms, partly due to your own drunken state, but partly that it’s Kai keeping you on your toes. He held you tight until you found your footing, just for you to crash your lips onto his unsuspecting own. The witch, taken aback but not opposed to it, let you taste him for a moment before kissing back. He pushed you up to the nearest wall, feeling and exploring, before hailing a ride back to your place.
It had been forever for both of you. The uber driver with a ‘no touching’ rule sobered you up a little, but not enough to make you think twice about it. By the time he laid you down on your sheets, any doubt in your mind had fizzled out. He was a gentle lover, much to your surprise, likely because it was such an unfamiliar feeling to be so intimate with another. The little control you tried to take was met with a laugh, and you understood the signal. You didn’t mind being underneath him, though, nor did you mind him staying the night.
Guilt struck you when you first woke up in his arms, but not enough to barr yourselves from meeting again. The first few times you had to be drinking to convince yourself it was okay, but the more morning-afters you spent together, the less ashamed you started to feel. With time, nights started to feel less like hookups and more like something else. He became something you adored when you had, and craved when you did not. The feelings were mutual, though harder to pull out from the siphon, until you asked him directly, putting both your hearts out for the other to grab.
“What are we?” You asked, head leaning on the vending machine as he fetched himself a post-high gatorade. A bag of cookies were held in your own hand from the exchange you made one minute prior.
“Having fun,” Kai replied.
“Kai…”
“Or so I think,” he followed his words, questioning the look on your face.
“Are we anything more? Will we ever be?”
A loud voice down the hall that vaguely resembled his sister made a sharp remark to another person. His response sounded closer, as if they were heading in your direction. Kai grabbed your arm and muttered a simple cloaking spell until they both passed. Liv and Tyler both disappeared into her room, then Kai removed his hand. His touch lingered on your skin for a moment. You’ve grown to quite like the feeling.
“I don’t know,” he confessed, “I’m not exactly the person for relationships, if you aren’t aware. I’m a sociopath that was locked in complete isolation for eighteen years.”
“I don’t care.” You grabbed his hand and laced your fingers together. “I like you. I don’t want this to stop. I want it to be more.”
“I’m not built for this.”
“But do you want it?”
His mouth went dry as he already knew the truth. He did. He wanted you so much, but fear held him back like a dog on a leash. He didn’t have much slack. “I want you,” he finally said. “I want this to work.”
“I’m not good at relationships, either. We’re figuring this out together.”
Kai seemed to accept that better, and two minutes later, he climbed back under the sheets with you, turning on a movie and sharing snacks until you fell asleep.
♫
As your relationship progressed, it was tested, like all relationships ever are. You grew closer, more comfortable, as summer went on. Much of your time spent together was at night; you hadn’t told your friends, not ready for their questions nor their judgment, nor did you want the word out to his coven yet, afraid of whatever wrath his father could bring if he were to disapprove. You were still figuring things out, still learning about each other, and testing yourselves through time, and that was okay. Life isn’t something to be learned in a day, it’s something in which to be present to see where it takes you.
So, you let yourselves live, to do just that. On top of rooftops and beside small creeks, you snuck out to enjoy each other’s company. Mystic Falls has a lot of places to hide if you know where to look.
A couple times, you’ve almost ran into others. More than anyone being Liv and Tyler, also avoiding her father. Once, you’ve ducked under bushes to hide from Bonnie. Kai kissed your neck while his hand was clamped over your mouth, daring you to give away your position, while playfully inhibiting your chance to do so.
Sometimes, you were drunk when you found yourselves venturing the town together. The bar in which neither Matt nor Liv worked became a hotspot for you. But instead of ending the night short, you opted to explore the late hours in each other’s company. The alcohol wore off quickly, but the drunkenness brought on by your unconfessed love never did.
Kai, as it turns out, was easy to fall in love with. He was charming when you first met, but you were tickled to learn that underneath his manipulation tactics, he could be just as endearing authentically. He was a jokester and a flirt, whether across a room when you’d spot each other in public, or when you were hanging out together alone. You were never afraid to be alone with him. If your friends knew you were out with him, alone, at night, they would’ve freaked, but he always made you feel safe. And, once he felt comfortable being vulnerable with you, he revealed a side that could be sweet, too.
Even after arguments, you were able to patch things up as if they hadn’t happened. Sometimes, he’d be bristling and volatile, but you knew that a lot of his anger came from a place of fear. You learned what to say that would calm him down; you told him what he needed to hear to feel safe again. You’d provide him with the comfort he’d always desired, and when he settled, he’d melt into your touch and softly request forgiveness.
You complimented each other perfectly. And while it took you a moment to name the emotion, the feeling had been there all along. It was love.
♫
You were only slightly drunk the first time you realized the truth. Kai was painted in perfect, purple lighting, and his eyes seemed to sparkle when they met yours. You stumbled towards him and put your arms around his neck. He caught you, hands finding your waist. The music seemed to fade out as you swayed with him to the beat. It was as if a bubble captured you both, drowning out the rest of the world, making him your world, and in that moment, nothing else existed. You kissed him quickly, desperately, like an addict gone too long without a hit. He met you halfway, equally addicted.
And then, because you were young, and stupid, and courageously in love, you blurted out the words swimming restlessly in your mind,
“I love you.”
You looked up at him, not expecting an answer just yet, but to offer an encouraging smile. Before your gaze even reached his, his body tensed. His hands felt like ice upon your nervously warmed skin, and his once-strong grip on your waist loosened. Kai wore an expression of confusion, different from the emotion that you tasted on his lips. You opened your mouth to retract the words, but nothing came out. The bubble that consumed you seemed to crack; the music previously blocked filled your eardrums once again.
A fraction of a second later, you were guided to a hallway by your fingertips. The narrow path reduced some of the music, but most of the traffic. The man of your affection took to one wall, leaving you in the middle. You tried for his hand after he let it go, but dropped it at the discomfort he seemed to feel in having you hold it.
You racked your brain for the right words, but nothing seemed perfect. You stared at the ground beneath your feet for a half second longer until he spoke,
“You can’t do that.”
“What?”
“You know what I mean.”
“I’m sorry? I don’t. What did I do wrong?” He only shook his head, prompting you further. “Was it what I said or when I said it? Because I don’t think it’s wrong of me to confess what I feel for you when I know that it’s true.”
“It can’t be true. You can’t feel that for me.”
“Why not?”
“Because…”
“Provide me with a reason,” you interrupted, “or let me do as I please. I want to love you. I do, and I won’t apologize for it.”
“Y/N-”
“We’ve had some tough times together, I know we have, but we’ve gotten through them. We - us, together - have worked through so much to get here. Of course I love you, there’s so much effort and, and, love, that connects us.” You paused, letting your thoughts catch up to your mouth. “You don’t have to say it back. You don’t even have to acknowledge it, if you’re not ready. I know it’s a big step.”
“You can’t go there, Y/N.”
“I know, okay, maybe it was too much, too soon. I’m sor-”
“No, you can’t ever go there. You can’t love me and you shouldn’t. I’m not designed for relationships, they’re not meant for me. Do you not remember the things I’ve done?”
“We’ve talked about this, Kai. You confided in me about your fears, but we handled them, I thought. Do you not remember what I said?”
“I do, but-”
“‘Tell me every terrible thing you ever did, and let me love you anyway’.”
“By Poe,” Kai finished.
“And it’s true. I don’t care about the things you’ve done. I want to love you, and I do.”
“But you shouldn’t. You shouldn’t excuse the things I’ve done just because you want to see me for someone who I am not. You shouldn’t be so desperate to see a difference in me that you convince yourself you love me.”
“What?! Kai, I’m not excusing nor am I desperate. I know you’re different from the you that wrought pain upon the town. That guy’s gone, buried, with this you in his place. And I quite like this you, and I’ve learned to love him, because his progress is worth loving. He is worth loving. You are.”
“The old Y/N would never say such things about her sworn enemy. You’d never dare hold his hand, nor kiss his lips, nor say such things, because you’d know better, and if you did, it’d be because of some horrible nightmare, or some instance where I spelled you to get what I needed, because Y/N, we’re living in a fantasy, and none of this is real.”
“I don’t understand! This is real! We’re here, together, and we were dancing, and we were happy, and now we’re in this hallway. Still together, but now questioning if the summer we’ve spent together has all been a hoax, or if that’s the booze talking.”
“I’m not drunk.”
“You have to be, to think what you’re saying is true.” You paused, heartbroken, and afraid to show it, but pretty sure the choke in your words already had. “So are you saying you’ve never meant it? All the times you’ve kissed me were just folly? Or the nights we stayed up until the sun rose again were only dreams I made up?”
“That’s not what I meant, Y/N. I know what we’ve done, and I know we’ve shared moments, but a fantasy is all this is for us. Something we want, but cannot have. We have to wake up some day.”
“I disagree, I think we can make it work.”
“That’s where you’re wrong. This was never supposed to be a long-term thing.”
“But we said it could be! We said it could make it work!”
“And that’s what makes it a fantasy! We both know that’s a lie.”
“Kai, I don’t understand. Ten minutes ago, we were fine. Yesterday, you gave me a kiss that swept me off my feet; that replaced all my organs with butterflies; that made me feel like full-bloomed roses on the nicest day of the year. You made me feel cherished, and happy, and beautiful, but now, I feel like I’m on the end of a well-thought out joke, and everyone’s finally allowed to laugh.”
“I’m not saying this to break your heart. I’m just trying to be realistic.” He reached out to wipe a tear from your cheek, but you smacked his thumb away.
You couldn’t stop the tears from falling, but you still tried to talk through them. “I thought we were being realistic when we stayed up talking, all those nights, about how we knew each other’s flaws but were willing to work through them anyway. I would think, if we weren’t, we wouldn’t have spent a whole week together and considered getting an apartment to share, because we work just that well.”
“That only proves my point further. We haven’t been together long enough to make big decisions like that.”
“Then we’ll put it on pause and address it later.”
“Y/N-”
“Why are you doing this? Why does it seem like you’re giving up on us? Why are your words sounding like a preface to a break up?”
“Because they are,” he confessed, “because they have to be.”
“What do you mean, ‘they have to be?’”
“We can’t work. You can’t love me.”
“But I do, and I want to, and we do! We’ve managed to make it work, despite our-”
“But how long do you think we can keep this up? When will our differences outweigh our desires to stay together? When will we tell your friends about us? My family? We are too different for us to work, and I’m too damaged to be loved by you. We have to stop living in this fantasy.”
“I can’t believe you’re saying this. Do you even know what you’re saying?”
“I’m not drunk, Y/N.”
“So what, have you been planning this? Have you been waiting for the perfect time? Funny, that the perfect time seems to be when I tell you I l-”
“Don’t,” he interrupted, “don’t say it again.”
“What?”
“The less you say it, the less you’ll believe it.”
“That’s bullshit. I believe it in the deepest corners of my heart. You’re etched into my bones. You’re the shimmer of light in the darkest parts of my mind. I love you, Kai Parker. I love you, and I don’t want to apologize for it, and I won’t believe that I’ve made this all up in my mind. It’s okay that you don’t love me, but don’t you dare try to say you feel nothing.”
“Y/N-”
“‘Tell me all the terrible things you’ve done, and let me love you anyway’.”
“You can’t. I won’t let you.”
“You don’t have a choice. I don’t. I can’t control my heart nor its desires. It wants you; you have it. Tell me you don’t crave it. I know you crave love, Kai. I know it in the way you kiss me, and in the way you hold me. I know it from the time you confessed, at two in the morning when you were too tired to hold back, and I know it from when you told me, clear as day, on that Wednesday afternoon. I love you, and I’m not afraid to love you. Why don’t you give in to what I know you want?!”
Because your love isn’t mine to take.
Because I don’t deserve it.
Because you’re a gemstone, perfect and pure, and I’m the dirt from which it was pulled.
“Because I don’t feel the same for you,” he said instead, “I’m not capable of love. I’m a sociopath, and anything I’ve ever said was for my own fleeting pleasure. It’s over now. I’m done. I’m bored with us.”
“What? No. Something’s wrong. This is not the same Kai I spent the summer falling in love with. Are you Damon in disguise? Pulling some sick prank?”
“I’m not, Y/N. It’s me, being realistic, and telling you I don’t love you, and I never will. It’s time to go home, Y/N, and to your own bed, in your own sheets.”
The tears streaming down your face run your make-up, but you can’t find it in yourself to care. “But my sheets smell like you.”
“Then wash them.”
The harshness in his tone was unlike anything you’ve ever heard before. When you finally brought yourself to meet his eyes, there was no light inside them, no humanity. His jaw was tensely set, and for the first time in months, you saw the Kai that everyone feared when he had broken himself free of his eighteen-year punishment. Scared and sorrowful, you backed away from him. He didn’t follow. You backed further and further away until you were stumbling out of the bar. The wicked August heat kissed your neck like he used to - passionately. You grabbed your hair, fumbling it up into a bun to get it off your skin, then searched for your phone to call a ride.
As the white sedan approached your meeting spot, you trained your blurry vision on the door, but Kai never came out. He never shouted your name, hurried down the steps, nor caught you in an apologetic embrace, blaming his temporary ignorance on too much to drink. He never peered through a fingerprint-stained window, watching you from the glass, wondering if it's too late to take back what was said. It was just silent, as car engines roared and drunk couples chattered around you.
When your ride finally came, you cried harder than you ever had in your life. Your driver glanced to the backseat, but didn't know a good time to interrupt, so he didn't. He offered a polite smile as you got out, thanked you for the five-star rating, and made sure you got in your apartment safely before pulling back onto the road.
You barely made it through the door before crashing on the couch. Exhaustion settled in your bones halfway through the drive, and you couldn’t even think about climbing the stairs. The worst headache of your life pounded in your skull. Water was too far of a walk, so you let it throb.
You tried your best not to think about Kai. His words rang in your head on repeat like an old antique bell - loud, heavy, constant. It almost felt like the whole night was a fluke. A nightmare. A spell, perhaps done by his father, or one of your disappointed friends. When you wake up, he’d be there, kissing your fingertips as the smell of coffee fills the air. You let this thought comfort you, and let it soften your heart. Although, deep down, you knew the truth.
He wouldn’t be there. He didn’t want you.
You’ve never known pain like this before.
♫
You can only ignore your friends for so long. Blaming a long to-do list can only give you so many excuses, and when Caroline messages you mid-afternoon on a Friday if you’d meet them at the Scull Bar, you realize you don’t have any more excuses left. So, cautiously, you pull yourself from your bed and drag your feet to your closet. You still haven’t washed your sheets, despite wanting to be rid of his once-comforting smell. It’s more stubbornness than anything, refusing to do the chore. If he thinks throwing a piece of fabric in the wash will rid you of him, he’s a damn fool.
You hadn’t been lying. He owns a part of your heart, and that can’t be simply washed away with some eco-friendly detergent.
Truthfully, you think, ignoring the heaviness in your bones as you enter the Scull Bar, the only way to remove him would be to carve out your heart entirely; to separate it from its lifeline and from all that’s familiar. But, you can’t, so you choose to let it bleed instead, and hope it doesn’t seep through your clothes.
A vague sadness hangs above your heads, but none of your friends know the cause. You told them you were tired before joining them. You must not have gotten a good night’s sleep.
After all, it’s the first time in Mystic Falls where something tragic isn’t happening. Damon and Elena are planning out their lives, Stefan and Caroline are newly together, and Bonnie and Enzo, a quite unexpected pair, seem to be happy. Jo is five months pregnant, and Kai has left her alone. The girls wonder if that’s of his own volition, or if someone or something is distracting him, but you don’t offer any suggestions. When they then ask you about your own dating life, you only shrug. They tease playfully, having no idea about the wreckage your heart is still trying to piece back together. The cause seems hopeless. You don’t even have the energy to confide in them.
The topic finally changes, but only because the one who dropped your glass heart enters. You turn when you catch a bit of his familiar cologne, but remind yourself he’s no longer yours and turn again just as fast. The girls let their gazes linger on him as if daring him to bother them, and for a moment, Kai wonders if you told them. But then, as they shrug and go back to their conversation, he knows you didn’t. Otherwise, they’d be hurling bitter words and sharp tools at him for breaking their best friend’s heart.
And honestly, he wishes they were.
It’s what he deserves, after all.
♫
“I love you,” you had said, only a couple weeks ago.
His heart stopped. His throat went dry.
The words seemed to have been shouted at him, despite the booming bass around them. You weren’t yelling, though, you were simply telling the truth.
A truth he wasn’t ready to hear. A confession he didn’t know how to process.
How could you, a perfect person, love him, someone so tainted and dark?
How could he ever love you the way you deserved?
He did love you, of course. He knew it long before you ever confessed, but it was never something he felt okay to share.
You always made him feel safe. Comfortable. Dare he say it, loved.
But love was something he had never felt before, and to have something means that it can be lost. And to not lose it tragically, he must be the one to take it away.
Hearing the words fall from your lips was both the best and the worst thing he could ever hear. He craves love, he knows he’s admitted it. He craves it more than anything else in the world. But wanting it and having it are two very different things, and now that he has it, he regrets asking for it.
He had to hurt you then, before your soul could be completely shattered later. He had to stop it. Right then. Before he let you in too much and you got too attached.
So, he lied.
He broke his own heart with every word, but it was nothing compared to the damage he knew it was doing to your own. He wanted nothing more than to sweep you into his arms, hold you tightly, and say it was all just a spell - an outside force trying to drive you apart - but he couldn’t. His fear of hurting you triumphed over his love for you. His mouth spoke before his mind could process the words he professed. He became unrecognizable to himself by the time he delivered his final blow. Your tears stained your perfect face and your posture was defeated, but he was no longer the one that could offer any solace. He was now the one that ruined you, and there was no coming back from what he had done.
How terrifying it is, that three little words can make or break you.
How terrifying it was, to wake up the next morning and realize the damage caused. To have to come to terms with the fact that he had broken the only good thing in his life. To imagine the love of his life sitting on the couch, stirring coffee, with a head full of questions neither will ever be able to answer.
“I love you, Kai Parker. I love you, and I don’t want to apologize for it…”
“I love you,” ain’t that the worst thing you’ve ever heard?

Do you like the character of Kai Parker?
My feelings for Kai are similar to my feelings for Lucien. I love/hate him. Honestly, they are basically the same character.
I love them as a villain but hate when people try to defend them or make them into something they just aren't. They are just uncomplicated serial killers who take joy in the pain and suffering of others. And that can be entertaining in fictional worlds.
Kai does not get a shred of redemption. His only slight redeeming qualities are his somewhat emotions he begins to feel after he kills his brother. And even these emotions aren't enough to stop him from being a terror to everyone. He kills his sister while she is pregnant at her wedding. He is a terrible person who abused everyone he came in contact with.
Yes, he's funny and yes, he's attractive. But he is a villain through and through. It doesn't matter that he has a sad childhood. It doesn't excuse everything he did after that. His anger wasn't just towards those who hurt him as a child, but everyone he came in contact with.
Again, I liked his character for what it was. I liked that they never tried to redeem him and he just died. And even when he came back, he was still awful. I've seen he comes back in Legacies, and I cheated and googled that he does die again, which I love. I know most of my favorite characters are villains and I love to deal with that complexity, but I also love a good, simple villain. Especially in a show with so many "morally grey" or "complex villains." Sometimes we just need someone to be uncomplicatedly bad. I also think they needed a character like Kai in TVD after the Mikaelsons left. I know they had Silas but I was a little disappointed in Silas, he almost felt too juvenile. Whereas Kai was over here actually making me worried for my favs while at the same time being entertaining.
Basically I love the character, he doesn't rank high for me in favorites, but I enjoy the seasons he is in.
Thanks for the ask!

Early History
Bonnie Sheila Bennett was born on February 5, 1993, to Rudy Hopkins and Abigail "Abby" Bennett in Mystic Falls, Virginia. She is the youngest and last known member of the Bennett family. Sometime when Bonnie was a young child, her mother had abandoned her, after taking down the Original Vampire, Mikael and losing all of her powers, to protect her best friend Miranda Sommers-Gilbert's adoptive daughter Elena, who is a Petrova doppelgänger needed to break Klaus' Hybrid curse. It could be assumed that since her mother abandoned her, that it was her Grams that had raised Bonnie for most of her life. Even though it isn't implied, it appears that her father, Rudy, gave Bonnie Abby's maiden name "Bennett". During Bonnie's early childhood, Bonnie became best friends with both Caroline Forbes and Elena.
During the weeks approaching December 22, 2008, Bonnie is a sophomore at Mystic Falls High School.
Her maternal grandmother Sheila Bennett at one point tried to explain to Bonnie about her witch heritage, although Bonnie dismissed this because she thought that her grandmother was drunk.
Bonnie is repeatedly ready to sacrifice herself for her family and friends without any hesitation. As her powers grew, she's stepped up at every opportunity to protect her friends, even if it meant trading her life in the process. Her spell-casting abilities most definitely came in handy when the Originals came to Mystic Falls. Gaining the power of Expression, she was able to take down two Original vampires, as well as the very first immortal, Silas. Despite the warnings from her Grams, she combined spirit, Expression, and dark magic to resurrect Jeremy back from the dead. While successful, it was too much for her and the spell killed her in the process.
Existing on the Other Side as a ghost, her very ancient and powerful ancestor, Qetsiyah, transferred the status of Anchor to the Other Side from Amara to Bonnie, allowing her to exist on both sides of the living and the dead. However, Bonnie was forced to feel the pain of every supernatural death and no longer had access to the powerful magic she once had.
After Markos violently tore his way out of the Other Side with the help of the Travelers, it began falling apart. His unnatural resurrection unbalanced the Other Side which threatened Bonnie with permanent death. Despite great effort on both her and her friend's part to save the Other Side, it eventually imploded on itself as Bonnie and Damon spent their last moments together. However, Shiela's last act made sure that Bonnie would be fine. Before it's destruction, they were engulfed by a white light.
Bonnie and Damon found themselves back in Mystic Falls. However, they were forced to repeat the same day, May 10, 1994, over and over. Though Damon retained his vampiric abilities, Bonnie was unable to perform magic. Eventually, they learn that this world is inhabited by another, Malachai Parker. When Kai attempts to kill Damon, Bonnie arrived just in time and regained her magic at the prospect of losing the only friend. Bonnie learns that she, rather her blood, is the key to free themselves from the prison world, using a Gemini artifact, called the Ascendant. Sacrificing herself, she sends Damon back to the mortal plane and is forced to endure Kai's torturous pursuit until she's left alone in the prison world without her magic. Reminded by her friends, she travels to Novia Scotia and retrieves Qetsiyah's calcified blood and reclaimed her own magic, freeing herself from the prison world. Her experience with Kai and her time in the prison world, however, drastically changes her. She decides to puts herself first but continues to suffer signs of PTSD, such as being unable to adjust to other people. With time, Bonnie falls back into her old life, but not before imprisoning Kai in the 1903 Prison World. However, he escapes as had Bonnie did, an links her life to Elena's. As long as Bonnie was alive, Elena would be forced to slumber in a magical coma.
With the return of the Heretics, a coven of siphoner-witch, vampire hybrids, Bonnie and her friends eventually turn to the Armory for help. However, in exchange, they want Bonnie to unseal the Armory's vault that was magically sealed by Lucy. Refusing to unleash a monster, Bonnie went into hiding with Lorenzo St. John. Over the course of three years, they developed a romantic relationship. Enzo eventually learned that Armory's anti-magic pills that were helping Bonnie hide from them were also poisoning her, an illness that could not be cured and would eventually kill her. Rayna agreed to transfer her last life to Bonnie. As the spell is completed, Rayna revealed that Bonnie became the new shamanic huntress in her place. After Damon destroyed the corpse of the last shaman, Bonnie's connection to it also broke, freeing her from her duties and abilities as the huntress.
However, her magic did not return, leaving her devastated over the loss of her powers as well as Enzo and Damon being taken by the Armory's monster, Sybil. Bonnie was eventually reunited with Enzo after he was freed from Sybil's mind control. However, upon his tragic death at Stefan's hands, Bonnie unleashed a psychic blast, preserving Enzo's spirit in a newly created dimension. Eventually, she and Stefan fight Arcadius, the Devil himself, which led to Stefan killing him, though Hell was not destroyed — Katherine was its new ruler. Letting go of Enzo, Bonnie can regain her magic. With her magic restored and with the support of her many ancestors across the centuries, they managed to destroy Hell itself and Katherine along with it. Bonnie's eventually able to free Elena from her magical coma, sparing both of their lives. Determined to keep her promise to Enzo, she decided to live her life to the fullest and wanted to see the world and enjoy her life.
At some point after her travels, Bonnie returned to Mystic Falls and opened Nightingale's Gift Shop & Apothecary, a new-age shop that acts as a cover to get rare herbs and information from places she's traveled to.
Sometime after she came home, Damon and Elena approached her because they had fertility issues and wanted her help. She agreed, but her spells yield no results time and time again. This resulted in a fight between them and spoken words that permanently strained their relationship, leading Caroline, Alaric, Matt, and Jeremy - the only ones she speaks to.
In 2024, Bonnie meets a young girl named Harmony when she walks into her shop looking for herbs for a spell. After an insightful conversation (that ended up being spoken in French), Bonnie's had a vision of a younger version of the girl surrounded by angry figures when they shook hands. Upon delivering herbs and donated blood to Salvatore, she ran into Harmony and her sister, Hope - and quickly realized she was Klaus's daughter. Considering her history with the Original Family, Bonnie kept her distance, which soon proved to be a challenge when Harmony came back to her store and asked to be mentored by her. Initially declining, Harmony persisted and did whatever she could to get Bonnie to accept her.
On February 14th, the 6th anniversary of Enzo's death, already having a bad day, Bonnie blew up on Harmony in frustration and stated she'd never take her on because she's selfish like her father. Realizing what she said, Bonnie instantly regretted it but Harmony teleported before she could apologize. Over drinks, Caroline - having heard about what happened - explained to Bonnie that Harmony was different and sought her out because she wanted to be strong. The next day, Bonnie saw Harmony outside her house. Bonnie tried to apologize, but Harmony easily said she understood, rationalizing she realized pursuing Bonnie without explaining herself was selfish. Harmony explained how she hated her family outside her mom, Hope, and her adoptive brother. Having been put through indescribable pain because of their selfish actions and her father's pursuit of power - it only makes sense Bonnie would see her the same way and believe she was threatening her. So to prove to Bonnie otherwise, Harmony used an Incendia spell and lit her hand on fire. Horrified, Bonnie rushed towards her to put out the fire, however, she noted that way Harmony seemed to want to be in pain before extinguishing her hand. Using healing oil coupled with Harmony's healing, Bonnie told her what she did was reckless. Harmony points out that now that Bonnie knows she would rather hurt herself than hurt her, she can teach her. Bonnie describes what she did as a form of emotional manipulation, which Harmony disagrees with as she's an empath and knew she had no intention of using Bonnie's personality to get what she wanted. Hearing this, Bonnie asks why she wanted to be mentored by her and not her Aunt Freya. From there, Harmony explains her life since was 6 from living on the road, being tortured, and discovering she was a reborn soul previously victimized by her family, and her desires to be nothing like them. She also proceeds to explain the situation of her why she hates Freya. When Harmony was learning the information taught by the Mikaelsons, she got curious as to how Esther created vampires. Her intuition allowed her to connect vampirism to Silas and Qetsiyah. After that, it snowballed until she came to learn Bonnie's story. Sick of how pursuing power has led to pain, she chose to not seek it. Learning Bonnie's story and the history of the Bennett and how they shaped Mystic Falls prompted Harmony to want strength...and admitting anyone who tried (and succeeded) to kill her family and fought off hellfire was someone she aspired to be. However, she also stated she wanted to know Bonnie as someone who wields power and strength and might help her stay the worst of the "Mikaelson attributes". While conflicted with the possibility of being dragged back into the Mikaelson family, Harmony's honesty coupled with her obvious self-harming prompted Bonnie to agree to being her mentor with intention of keeping an eye on her. Sometime after this, she had video calls with Vincent Griffith and Ivy Rashid (her witchcraft teacher and Seer mentor) and was paid a visit by Harmony's adopted brother/father figure, Marcel Gerard.
In the following months, Bonnie came to enjoy Harmony's presence, even stating she recognized pieces of the "Old Bonnie" in her. She always answered her questions and gave her the truth, as much as she could. However, this did not come without its challenges - such as the death of her Uncle Finn and the legitimacy of Josette Saltzman, which led to the discussion of Kai Parker and how Harmony believed Jo wasn't telling the full truth on the buildup of the night he killed his siblings. This discussion led to an argument in which she defended Jo and condemned Kai, leading to Harmony spilling some surprising revelations about her goddaughters, Lizzie, and Josie Saltzman. The argument only settled with Bonnie admitting being traumatized by Kai and her actions around it possibly being the difference between everything cultivated at Jo and Alaric's wedding. She had also found herself caught in the middle when Harmony was asking about Klaus's misdeeds in Mystic Falls and Tyler Lockwood, learning how the young girl's Seer Sight had introduced her to the late werewolf and realizing Hayley & the Mikaelsons were actively keeping their connection a secret from her.
In 2023, Bonnie noticed Harmony was distancing herself from her. She later learned of Anastacia, a spirit raped by Kol Mikaelson, and how she periodically ensures her student endures a psychic-mimicry of the attack as a result of her rapist-muderer's family choosing to spare him despite learning the truth. Learning how Harmony deals with the monthly attacks by going to the Old Lockwood Cellar to deal with her attacks, Bonnie begins to become protective of her and helps block the attacks. However, Harmony didn't want her attacks blocked off, explaining that by doing so, Anastacia would be forced to relive her trauma over and over again - and despite it all, Harmony would rather endure it than let her soul carry that pain. While she didn't agree, Bonnie found immense respect for it and tried to help minimize the worst of the physical aspects of the assault. At some point, Bonnie woke up one night to a surge of magic coming through her and knew something was wrong with Harmony. She began calling her, then Hope, and then anyone at the school until she got dressed in a hurry and astral projected to Salvatore - only to find it in disarray and chaos as students were evacuated from the building and all the windows had been shattered. She eventually found Dorian, who led her to Emma, who explained a high-pitched scream erupted out of nowhere and sent a soundwave that shattered the windows. When asked how it happened, Emma directed her to the nurse's office and found a few teachers burning herbal incense over Harmony while she was unconscious. It was revealed Harmony was the one who screamed and Hayley was already on her way to get the twins while the students were being sent to the Lockwood Mansion until repairs were finished. When Harmony and Hope returned, she noticed that the former was having issues staying awake. It didn't take Bonnie long to realize Harmony was dealing with insomnia and forcing herself to stay awake, and immediately took action after Harmony set a teacher assistant on fire after she'd fallen asleep and he tried to wake her up. While remorseful, Harmony refused to say what was happening. But then, she felt a surge of fear and panic one day, and went to Salvatore only to find out something shocking: Harmony had developed a period. Hayley had to come and take her back to New Orleans for a whole week, from which a phone call from Ivy revealed that Harmony was basically holed up in a shack in the bayou because of her unstable emotions until it was over. After she returned, Bonnie wanted to know what happened but didn't press her due to the drastic change she was going through.
During Witch Week at Salvatore, Harmony begged Bonnie to come as she wrote a paper based on a "witch from history she admired". She attended and ended up meeting Hayley Marshall and Freya Mikaleson for the first time - and while she had heard of the former but never met her when she first came to Mystic Falls, she instantly disliked both of them. When Harmony's speech came up, she was touched (but expected) that she chose her. However, she noticed Harmony started bleeding down her leg and gripping her neck before passing out. Rushing up to her and taking her to the infirmary, she, alongside Hayley, Caroline, and the guidance counselor - Emma Tig - watched in horror as Harmony reluctantly revealed in tears bite marks all over her back, another forming right before their eyes. Recognizing them as vampire bites, Bonnie was furious, as well as Hayley, not hesitating in trying to convince Harmony to tell her who was doing this. However, Harmony wasn't saying who did it, with only answering a series of questions that ultimately revealed that a vampire in Mystic Falls was responsible. Bonnie was able to ascertain that it wasn't someone at Salvatore feeding off her.
Eventually, Bonnie and Emma put together that the vampire bites are part of a psychic attack, similar to Anastacia's. With Hayley's input about Ana, Emma theorizes that Harmony was "uniquely sensitive" to victims of sexual assaults, going as far as to say her Empathic senses subconsciously zero in on the victim and she only becomes consciously aware when she meets them or maybe their attacker - making Bonnie quickly realize Harmony came across someone who was victimized by a vampire. After that, she put two-and-two together and realized this vampire attack was likely responsible for Harmony's glass-shattering scream, her insomnia, and the cause of her period. On a day out to lunch at the Mystic Grill, she noticed Harmony stiffen and glance around nervously. Picking up that the vampire had been there, she had taken Harmony out of the building and talked to her. However, she realized Harmony's mannerisms and rambling reminded her of someone ringing a hint, she later visited Emma, who gave her a drawing Harmony made to "show" what happened. She realized the victim was Caroline. Confronting her best friend, she was appalled to hear Caroline confirm the truth and she realized only one person at the time could have done it: Damon Salvatore. Demanding an explanation, she became furious when she realized Elena knew about this and hadn't told her for years. Afterward, she visited the rebuilt Gilbert House and attacked Damon before Elena could do everything. She was stopped by Caroline and Alaric, who suspected she would be there. Enraged, she demanded to know why Caroline didn't even tell her or even get Mom at the time, as they would've done everything to protect her. Caroline admitted it was her choice not to tell her (which conveniently kept her mom on their side) and as a vampire, Damon couldn't hurt her anymore or presently as she keeps his enemies from coming after him and he wants to live his human life in peace with Elena. Following Caroline saying that it was also her choice to forgive him, Bonnie tells her it's not her choice anymore, as her silence made another victim out of Harmony - who already can't get justice from Kol.
Later on, Harmony confides in Bonnie about the truth. She thinks her Seer Sight subconsciously gleaned that Caroline was a rape victim. However, it didn't register until she first met Damon. She explained how she dreamt of being in Caroline's place and woke up in the middle of the assault, however, a hallucination of the Damon of that time followed - leading to her supernaturally, terror-charged scream. Unlike Kol, who eventually appeared a week into her "routine attacks", Damon's hallucination followed her everywhere and taunted her when she was asleep, leading to insomnia. With that, Bonnie pieces together that the Spector of Damon must've been taunting her when she burned that teacher's assistant, triggered by the fact he was a vampire (and once his touch registered as "vampire", she attacked thinking it was Damon). Realizing that Damon's hallucination must've attacked her during her speech at Witch Week, Bonnie comforted the girl who she realized has now been traumatized by two vampires (or former vampires in Damon's case). and told her while Caroline made her choices, it was her own decision to speak out about what happened. Bonnie eventually learned that Damon was banned from the Salvatore school and had a spell cast on him to keep away from Harmony unless she approaches him first. But soon after, she learned Harmony recanted her statement and Bonnie suspected Caroline had something to do with it - a sentiment she shared with Hayley (who she heavily dislikes, and knows wouldn't let the blonde vampire off the hook if she suspected as much). Because of these revelations, Bonnie renounces her friendship with Caroline and tells her that as a consequence of what she did to Harmony, her daughters would not be welcomed in her home. She even tried to stop donating her blood to the school as a result, but Dorian and Emma managed to convince her not to. While it had hurt to distance herself from her twins, Bonnie didn't want to do anything that condoned Caroline's actions and what Harmony experienced.
In 2024, Bonnie took in Harmony's friends, Penelope Park and Alyssa Chang, as her unofficial students when Harmony formed the Midnight Falls Coven. She initially labeled Penelope and Alyssa as "witches up to no good", but quickly understood the foundation of their friendship with Harmony as "witches too smart for their good". Bonnie also agreed with Harmony that the circumstances surrounding the death of Alyssa's parents were suspicious as well as how that information got out before she arrived at Salvatore. Harmony asked for her advice because she wanted to tell Penelope and Alyssa she was a Mikaelson. Bonnie told her to only tell them if she truly trusted them and if they could be trusted back, only to discover they took it in stride and Penelope had already figured it out before being sworn to secrecy. This eventually leads Bonnie to be introduced to Gia, a vampire whose soul was bound to Harmony's violin. Unsurprised to hear of the circumstances of her violent death by Klaus, Bonnie easily helped Harmony improve her boundary spell that allows Gia to be a visible, tangible spirit using crystals. Sometime after this, Harmony started asking if she knew anything about three students who disappeared a year before she enrolled in Salvatore. Identifying them "Diego Garcia", "Jade Wellington", and "Wendy Estrada", a werewolf-vampire-witch trio likely a part of the first graduating class but never graduated - as if they vanished. Considering Bonnie was still traveling at the time, she didn't recall anything. But then, Harmony tells her about the February 19th Massacre where a bunch of Mystic Falls students were killed in the woods, followed by a vision Harmony had in her first year of the three students appeared to have been in detention via barrier spell and - even more shockingly - Josie was the one that freed them. Bonnie asks her what she's implying, to which she thinks the trio might've been responsible for the massacre and Alaric might've done something to them, maybe even killed them. Recalling how she knew that Salvatore was literally on probation that first year by the Town Council, it didn't take much to imagine those deaths would've called for the school to be shut down indefinitely if Alaric and Caroline couldn't control their students. Realizing Harmony was onto something, she asks Harmony to keep this to herself. She doubts Alaric killed them and maybe sent them home if they had families. However, Harmony doubts that and reluctantly admits she, Alyssa and Penelope broke into the school office and found records that with the exception of Wendy, Diego and Jade were orphans. Exasperated, Bonnie tells her that given everything that happened between her and Caroline, while she could believe Harmony definitely stumbled into something, she ends up giving her "blessing" to covertly investigate what happened.
In 2025, with Lizzie and Josie's upcoming 11th birthday coming up, Bonnie helped Harmony find gifts for them since she wasn't attending but was annoyed to hear they excluded Hope from their party. Harmony tells her she's worried because she doesn't trust Alaric to not do something that'll set them off as his one-on-one sessions with Hope already make her a target for their bullying. Acknowledging this, Bonnie tells her that if Alaric was aware of the situation, he'll put a stop to it. However, Bonnie came to regret that as she got a call from Emma on the twins' birthday that Lizzie, Josie, and Hope fought with Harmony. Rushing to the school, she got the whole story of the twins attacking Hope because Alaric brought her there against their wishes and Harmony tried (and got injured) to break up the fight. Hearing that both sets of twins got punished, Bonnie argued that Alaric's extra attention on Hope led to this, dishing everything she's been told. Alaric argues that Bonnie's no better by mentoring Harmony, saying at least he acknowledged both Harmony while she hasn't reached out to Hope. However, she emphasizes that her and Alaric's methods work differently for the Mikaelson twins with opposing views of their family.
After this, she's told of Lizzie's recent diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder but isn't surprised considering the Gemini family history and her experience of sociopathy with Kai. However, Bonnie hears from Harmony and her coven about the contents of Lizzie's (supposedly secret) therapy diary and is appalled, as that shouldn't be public knowledge but became so because Josie was behind it. She warns the trio to not start anything as it became painfully clear to her that Lizzie might not know her diary was outed. While she was proud to hear Harmony put a stop to it, the scenario reminded Bonnie of the last time that sensitive information was leaked (Alyssa's parents), and can't help but think it's no coincidence despite happening twice. She was surprised to learn of Harmony's quotebook she made for Lizzie and the effort she put into it only to hear Lizzie didn't seem to appreciate it but let her know there was nothing wrong with trying.
Before Spring Break of 2025, Bonnie was alerted to a fire breaking out in Harmony and Hope's dorm. After bringing clothes she had for overnight visits, she and Hayley (via astral projection) confronted Alaric and Emma over how the fire started. With the origins of the fire unknown, she - along with Penelope and Alyssa - helped the twins salvage anything from their dorm. She noticed Harmony crying over a pair of destroyed Chinese lanterns and discovered Alyssa made them for her, which Harmony took as a memento of the start of their friendship. Bonnie noticed Hope had a matching pair, to which Alyssa admitted that she thought the twins were behind gifts being left in front of her door during her first months at Salvatore, so she made two pairs of lanterns before finding out it was Harmony as no one would do that for someone who killed her own parents. Later on that week, Bonnie was called by Emma, who alarmingly told her that a video she made with Harmony over Anastacia was seen by the whole school. Trying to figure out how, Emma revealed that the file cabinet it was in had a spell on it that worked to react specifically to her magic. Realizing the only way to bypass that spell was to either lower it or take away the magic completely, it dawned on Bonnie that it was either Lizzie or Josie that broke into it. She arrived at Salvatore, only to find Lizzie was put into a sleep-like state. Bonnie initially thought it was Hope in retaliation for her sister, only to find out she had an alibi. After Lizzie had an episode in her sleep, Bonnie found Harmony in the Old Mill and scolds her for doing that to Lizzie. However, she sees Harmony already regretted it and admits she reacted in anger as she never thought Lizzie would do such a thing to her. Bonnie asks why she even did it, only to be shocked at learning Josie was behind the dorm fire and in Lizzie's irrational reaction - believing Hope did it to ruin her Spring Break - she ended up hurting Harmony instead. Harmony asks her to help her undo the spell, and Bonnie agrees under the condition she apologizes. With no hesitation, she agrees and lifts the spell off of Lizzie. Bonnie confronts Alaric with the truth while having Caroline on speaker, asking how Lizzie and Josie were going to be punished. Angry that Alaric response was to hide the truth, she responds by telling Alaric that Salvatore would not be getting blood donations from her anymore if his daughters were getting protected while Harmony was hurt in the process. She also states that from now on, their relationship is strictly professional in terms of needing her for anything. The incident ends with Harmony breaking off her friendship with Lizzie and Josie, to which Bonnie comforts her. It also prompted Harmony to question Bonnie if Josette Laughlin, the twins' biological mother, was a good person, as this behavior couldn't be all Alaric or Kai Parker - as easy as it would be. Harmony knew sociopaths were made and for all Kai's choices, Josette couldn't have been oblivious to stop him. Understanding what she's thinking, Bonnie assures her that Josette was a good person but honestly replies that even the best people have dark sides they aren't proud of. She even uses Harmony's retaliation as an example, as she knows she tries to be good yet she chose revenge against Lizzie so easily. So Bonnie tells her that everyone makes their bed in the end while living with their consequences, and forgiving these deeds is their choice.
During the summer of 2025, Bonnie kept in touch with Harmony while she dodged Alaric's attempts at reconciliation. She also reconnected with Valerie Tulle, who was currently in London working as a museum curator. Surprised to hear how much has gone on, Valerie commended her for her devotion to putting up with a trio of witches that reminded her of her sisters when they were alive and doesn't judge her for putting Harmony first even at the loss of Lizzie and Josie's relationship. Regaling how her students had a lot of questions about the Gemini Coven and her family, she set up a meeting between Valerie and them - from which the witch-vampire enjoyed immensely and found that Harmony raised some surprising questions that she never thought to ask, warning Bonnie she had her hand full with her. However, she was still worried, and rightfully so, when she learned of what happened to Harmony regarding the Crescent Pack and the Nguyen triplets. In contrast, she didn't have much with Alyssa spending the summer working in her store & having a fling with a new werewolf named Jed while Penelope was exploring Europe with her mom.
When Summer ended in September, the start of the year seemed calm until she learned Harmony fell into a fountain in the Town Square and nearly drowned at the annual End of Summer Party. Once Bonnie learned from her that she felt Klaus's presence as the one holding "her" down and drowning her, she realized Harmony was officially on the path to discovering her mother's time in Mystic Falls. Against her better judgment, Bonnie found herself talking to Matt about this - who while knowing what happened to Tyler in New Orleans, was not happy that his late best friend was Hayley's big ugly secret. Over the next few months, Bonnie watched as Harmony learned about the late Carol Lockwood and grew obsessed with Tyler Lockwood even more. She confided in her worries with Emma, who always suspected this would happen considering the young man was Klaus's tragic yet better counterpart. Harmony was the type to grasp onto anything "good" and "real" in her eyes and most of the men in her life don't fit that ideal. But then, she learned Harmony did a spell on Tyler's tomb that allowed her to see his past pending where he's been. Bonnie tried to warn her of this, but Harmony demanded that she needed to know what happened. In her eyes, Tyler was everything Klaus never was and couldn't be - why exactly did Klaus end up killing his mother? Bonnie ended up calling Marcel, Vincent, and Ivy - warning them that Harmony was on the verge of finding out and knew it was gonna be ugly. But for the most part, as much as they knew how Harmony was going to react, they also knew Hayley was warned this was going to come out and nothing stops Harmony when she's on a trail. Towards the end of November, Harmony disappeared for 24 hours, and surprisingly, so was Matt. Bonnie, Alyssa, and Penelope did locator spells while the others tried to contact Matt, but Harmony was cloaking herself and Matt so they wouldn't be found. That night, Matt called her in a frantic and caught her up to speed: Harmony had found out the truth of the 12 Hybrids and Hayley's involvement. Starting from how she approached him at his home, Matt ended up telling her what he knew about the past, especially when Hayley came onto the scene. Following this, Matt took her to places like the Lockwood Mansion, and the Cellar, and out of town to Whitmore University where Atticus Shane's office used to be. From there, Harmony used her Seer Sight to watch everything play out, even lingering because openly admitted to lying about Hayley's parents being dead - they were in hindsight, but he used another couple and posed them as her parents - after she left his office. As it got late, Harmony thanked him and teleported away. Bonnie realized Harmony might have gone to the sight where the hybrids were killed. When she got there, Harmony wasn't there but Bonnie felt that she had been and smelt fresh blood on the ground. Bonnie had Matt take her to the Cellar, where there was more blood but no Harmony. With one last ditch effort, they traveled to the Town Square which was empty except for Harmony and a fountain that was brought out for the Winter Wonderland fundraiser. Seeing that she was drowning herself, she and Matt pulled her out as the young girl screamed in despair. The next few days were horrible, Bonnie having Harmony stay in her house while forbidding anyone from seeing her. Hayley called, but Bonnie made quick work of telling her that unless she was calling to grovel and say she regretted what she'd done - Harmony wouldn't be taking any calls from her. Hope and her other students couldn't see her either. The entire time, she was consoling Harmony - who had developed a sense of self-hatred and depressed.
After Hayley and Klaus's deaths, Harmony moved in with Bonnie as her legal guardian and changed her name "Harmony Eve Kenner".
Personality
Bonnie was a good-hearted, bubbly, sweet, fun-loving, spirited, and optimistic individual. About other people, Bonnie is described to be kind, warm, sympathetic, caring, compassionate, empathetic, selfless, and self-sacrificing. Bonnie has shown that she makes a very loving, devoted, loyal, and caring friend. Bonnie could be considered to be a very spiritual person and she briefly believed herself as a psychic before discovering her true identity as a witch as well as learning of her witch heritage. However, Bonnie begins to suffer immense grief, loss, pain, and tragedy as well as the losses of people close to her, most notably, her Grams and Jeremy. She begins to become a much more serious and even depressive person. Although she has shown that she is generally an optimistic person, she has also shown that she is capable of being depressive, withdrawn, martyring, and apathetic. After her Grams dies, she distanced herself from Elena and her friends in Mystic Falls.
After years in Mystic Falls and traveling the world, Bonnie grew to become a strong, empathetic, caring women who commands respect and is unafraid to show what she's capable of. These aspects come to point when she became the mentor to Harmony Kenner, the secondborn daughter of Klaus Mikaelson. Rocky at first, Bonnie was quickly able to understand the young tribrid and even acknowledge the parallels the two share.
Powers and Abilities
Bonnie is a very powerful witch, as well as one of the most powerful witches of her family lineage seen. Having discovered her heritage in a relatively short time prior, her powers have developed exponentially throughout the years. Within at least two years, she transformed from a simple novice in the art of witchcraft to a nearly unstoppable force capable of taking down the oldest and most powerful supernatural creatures as well as controlling nature to a great extent. This could be attributed to the fact that she descended from a line of powerful Bennett witches that began with Qetsiyah, an extremely powerful witch responsible for creating the Immortality Spell.
Bonnie has great experiences in Traditional Magic, Spirit Magic, Dark Magic, and its subset, Expression Magic. She is also well-versed in the consequences of breaking Nature's rules and has lost her magic more than once and also regained it just as many times.
Bonnie is the only witch on the to have participated in the creation of two different dimensions, having created a psychic afterlife dimension through her latent psychic abilities and a magical Prison World rooted in Gemini magic by empowering the siphoner witches Lizzie and Josie Saltzman and aiding them in their spell.
• The Anchor
After returning from the Other Side with Qetsiyah's help, Bonnie could interact with those in the mortal plane and the supernatural purgatory. However, she was stuck with having to deal with the recently deceased supernatural creatures that have to pass through her to get to the Other Side. Through a powerful and complex spell, she was capable of bringing the denizens of the Other Side back into the mortal plane through physical contact.
• The Huntress
Upon receiving Rayna Cruz's last life, and becoming the supernatural Huntress, Bonnie gained new abilities. The most prominent ability Bonnie gained was enhanced strength, even more so than that of Rayna before her and any vampire, including the Originals.
Although Bonnie lost the ability to practice magic before becoming the Huntress, her ability to do so did not return. With the Eight Everlastings all deceased, Bonnie lost the abilities afforded to her through her status as the Huntress.
Physical Appearance
Physically, Bonnie is a very beautiful and attractive young woman. Bonnie has a heart-shaped face, with full cheeks and a pointed chin. Bonnie has very soulful and beautiful eyes; She has clear and soft light brown skin with long, luxurious dark brown or soft black wavy hair. Having been a cheerleader, Bonnie has a slim yet athletic figure. Bonnie is also rather petite at about 5'2". Bonnie regularly changes her hairstyle, regularly styled in very tight curls and sometimes soft waves. Her fashion sense or style is described as being gypsy chic with a bit of a hippie trend and she dresses casually in nice tops and jeans, but on special occasions, she will dress up in trendier and fancier clothing.

dreams masterlist
You were standing in the middle of the deserted valley, grey and yellow at the same time, burnt and humid at the same time. Ugly thin saplings were crooked in the shapes that made you understand they were literally screaming in their tree language, and you could not bear to look at them any longer. You were about to scream yourself. The air was thick, almost coarse, and with every breath, you could feel ulcers open inside of you due to the poison crawling down your throat. The sky reminded you of your lonely childhood and the pale hospital lamps, the earth was squirming below your foot, hollow, because it was empty. You felt lonely, intimately lonely and abandoned. You couldn't figure out what this place was, but you hated it. There was distant rattle rocking somewhere to the west, echoing through the plain. You didn't want to know what that was. Maybe a giant, rocky monster, stepping slowly, crashing everything his foot comes to. Maybe something worse.
You didn't know where to go; everywhere was the same, so you went ahead, knowing that your right foot will eventually bring you back where you started. The memories, the most unpleasant ones, the painful ones, were swarming just behind an almost see-through curtain, inside your brain. You remembered morose Irish tales about the lost kingdoms of faeries, where even the land is tricky, the legends soaked in melancholy for the lost relatives that suddenly disappeared behind the church. It also made you think of burning alive, because some saplings, no matter how much you tried not to look, eerily resembled churned scarecrows.
When you noticed three black shadows standing thirty steps from you, you started coughing, swallowing the poisonous air. They were immovable, like Dark Watchers, and almost as tall; on their heads, they were big hats and on their bodies, shapeless cloacks; no matter where you turned, they seemed to follow you and always face you, although you couldn't see their faces, if they had ones.
Someone startled you so badly you almost fell; the shriek from your mouth jumped into the air strem and flew away notifying everything of your presence.
It was a relatively normal looking human, in these circumstances.
He even looked comfortable? He wore normal clothes, although they looked like he went to a private school: dark trousers, dark jacket with vertical silver seams where the buttons were supposed to be. He looked a bit agitated.
"What is this place?" you yelped, afraid to touch him and wanting to do it at the same time. He stood two steps from you, and just a moment ago you thought you were completely lonely. Is it not suspicious, anyway, if here, some people just appear out of thin air?
"This is... where I live now", he shrugged, like it was all an everyday business.
"Who the hell are you?"
He looked puzzled. His hand, outstretched to touch you, froze in the air. You noticed a silver ring on his left thumb. And some scars on the back of his hand.
"What do you... oh, you don't remember me again", he rolled his eyes and sighed nosily. "Why can't I figure out this thing?" He started mumbling to himself. He cartoonishly scratched the back of his head, and then, as if remembering their existence, waved his hand towards the dark shadows. Your head snapped. They were gone.
"What were those things?"
"A lot of questions", he summarized, "you know they make me nervous. Let's go".
He grabbed your elbow. Your feet started moving since there was nothing better to do anyway. Suddenly, a tremendously loud thunder shattered the sky, and you completely lost it. Jumping up and to the side, you hid in the stranger's clutch.
"Yeah, it's about to get nasty", he nodded.
"How nasty?" you panted.
"Acid rain".
"Oh".
"Let's run".
You looked up again, and now the clouds in the greenish-yellow sky were perfect vortexex, pulsating, like insect wombs. They looked like they were about to burst, and that was probably truth.
He took your hand, and suddenly you were not in 'hell'. Just for a minute. For some time, you two were runners across the dead valley in an 80s movie. The wind whistled in your ears, together with the uneven wheezing which, you realized later, was your lungs struggling. The two runners, in the no man's land, racing the acid rain. Ahead of you, painfully far away still, stood a black mass of the woods, barely better than being vaporized alive. But he pulled you after him, and so, surprised at your jogging ability, followed. A couple more deafening thunder strikes nearly made you trip, but he caught you; he looked almost amused;
you remembered his name. As the first drops of acid started shooting, piercing the skin on your hands and face, the pain, perhaps, pushed the name into your head.
"Kai", you shrieked, trying to get as close to him as possible, like a child, "it hurts!"
His eyes were wide like tea cups.
"You remembered! Nice! My magic doesn't work here, so you'll have to run faster".
The rain was injuring him, too. One drop already fell on his temple and slid down to his cheek, leaving a wide, pink line of burnt skin. It was getting deeper as acid started to penetrate. He didn't seem to feel the pain. You ruffled your hair as much as possible, as his hand laid on your head.
Together, you made it to the forest, all the while contemplating the strange feeling of melting and burning. While you were still on foot, you didn't pay much attention to the burning, but as you finally stopped, panting, Kai comically holding on to a dead tree, you realized how much it hurts, almost everywhere. The rain burned through the hoodie and the shirt and got to your shoulders, your back. Your thighs were burning, your hands, fingers, your head. The pain was almost excrutiating, and you fell on the ground, rubbing yourself, and only worsening the sensations.
Kai squatted next to you, trying to comfort you.
"It'll stop eventually. Don't scratch yourself. Hey, are you crying? It'll go away. There's nothing here to help you. You'll have to wait".
Minutes, maybe hours, passed. Suddenly, Kai said,
"Hey, you're sleeping anyway. Turn the pain off".
"I am - what?"
You were looking at him from the ground. The face, familiar, with the name, but you still didn't know how you know him. The realization creeped: right, you're sleeping.
Suddenly, the burning stopped. You sat and tried to comb back your hair, embarrassed.
"What the fuck is this place", you groaned, forgetting you'd already asked.
Kai ignored your question.
"I now live in a cave, you know. But soon... well, I'll show you. We're very close to one of the lakes".
You didn't like the sound of that.
"Why do I keep seeing you in my dreams?" you questioned, looking him in the eye. That killer glint. The all-american face. He seemed softer now, more homely, even. Like he humbled down.
"Because I miss you".
As he leaned to you, to help you stand up, you could see a white shirt under his jacket. It was stained with blood.
"Not mine", he noted with a smile. And then he looked dangerous, like a spider bite.
He put his hands on the sides of your head.
"Whatever you hear", he whispered through his fingers, "ignore it. It's just the trees".
Then he pushed you gently with his body, and you walked deeper. Outside, the acid rain made the dry valley foam with yellow, but here, the black thickets and crows were so solid no light came through. First couple of minutes, you couldn't see anything but dark-grey shadows of things you didn't recognize. Through his hands, you heard voices but at first, you couldn't make out the words. They seemed familiar though. Kai walked right behind you, making a weird sound. This whole ten minute walk, slow as hell, strange and scary, felt like physical madness. When the first glinting patches of bright orange started dancing on the trees, the voices got louder, and so did Kai. You wanted to ask if he was okay, but then you heard your dad.
"Come to my room", he called. Your body froze, horror cementing you in place, like you were just another tree. Kai's hands squeezed your head more tightly.
There was howling.
"I said you were going there!"
You bit your lip really hard, moving your legs, putting your hands on top of Kai's. You shivered with animal horror. There was a short, sharp yell from somewhere.
"I thought of going to the bathroom", your mother said in a thin voice.
"What is it?"
The chaos of voices jumped at you like a wild dog, aiming for the throat. You realized Kai was holding you but was distant. The light was now bright enough to see where you're going, and his face, and as you turned, you realized his eyes were transfixed on something in front of him, and the sound he was making was giggle.
Somebody started screaming right into your ear, and you snapped. You ran, shaking your head, doubling the shouting. You ran, as the light of the flames got brighter and hotter. Suddenly, you found one of the lakes, and the voices stopped, but you didn't notice. Falling on the ground, you were now screaming alone. All around the lake, the devils were throwing wiggling bodies in huge sacks into the fire.
Kai ran after you and pulled you up in one motion.
"Don't let them hear you".
Everything was blurry. Your face was hot from the nearby flames, and noice in your ears made you turn on the pain again. All your body hurt, and the soul hurt, too. The faces of the devils, with seven eyes criss-crossed, and horns where humans had brows, almost drove you to awakening. You held on to Kai as he dragged you back into the thickets, but not too far away.
"Get down", he pushed you again, looking behind his back, and there was an opening in the ground.
"I don't want to go there", you moaned, panicking.
"Hey, listen", Kai took your shoulders, "I know it's scary here, but I get to spend every day in this place, and I can vouch for it, it's not as terrible once you get used to it and make connections. Come on, nothing will happen to you".
You fell through the hole in the ground, and as you were falling, you watched the layers of the soil. You could see skeletons pressed together and constituting the whole layers. Then you were in a tunnel. Then, under the ground, and then, in the forest again. Your eyes burned from the air and exhaustion. How much time has it been? Days? Months? You forgot you were yourself and thought you were in that book, about hell. And started counting circles. But here, they were not circles, but rather, floors. Finally, as Kai's hand guided you, you found yourself in a cave, or rather, a crypt. It looked strangely like ones in Mystic Falls, those hidden in the ground with gates among the dry bushes. The flames had been tamed here, and the chains and iron gates were more of a decoration.
Kai entered that place, without a chair, a table, or even a resemblance of a dwelling, like he was at home.
The crypt was full of people.
You leaned on the wall, completely drained.
"Meet my coven", Kai said, proudly. Only obscenities left your mouth. That did not kill his ceremonial excitement.
"Coven, meet the love of my life".
The coven bowed to you, as your face got into a state of distortion.
You didn't even have energy to argue or ask questions.
"I found a way to get out of here", Kai gestured around. The coven was ghostly silent. "But that's not even the best part".
He wanted you to share his gladness so bad, and yet, you were paralyzed and annoyed beyond belief. Your skin felt like it was sizzling.
"Kai..."
"It's not much worse than the prison world. In fact, it's way more fun here", he nodded, "and I also got a little upgrade. You're in danger now", Kai grinned, and there was the bite in his eye again. You held your breath. You couldn't believe this was who you were trapped with. Your brain was functioning still out of spite.
"I'm a vampire now".
Your left ankle gave in, and you collapsed in the most dishonorable way, scratching the palm on the way, as you slid down the wall.
Kai was about to say something else, but the fall continued, you fell through the floor, through the ground, and finally, you jumped up in your bed.
Your skin was burning, and there were people around you as you yelled all the curses you knew. As the nightmare slowly drained out of you, you looked out the window, one word just pulsating in your head.
Vampire. Who?

Hummingbird ~ Colors, Chapter 11 (Kai Parker Fanfiction)
Hello, my dear readers! I'm just about two weeks away from graduating, and writing is keeping me sane while I study for finals and writing my last few papers. Welcome to Chapter 11 of Colors, my Kai Parker Soulmate AU Fanfiction.
This is NOT meant to be read as a standalone piece. Events of the story and even the universe it is set in vary greatly from the original show. If you haven’t yet, please read the Details post and previous chapters linked on this masterlist.
*not my gif
Word Count: 1,948
I don’t like writing with Y/N in the place of character names, but this IS a reader insert fanfiction. I use Rosalie Wilson as a placeholder. Use Rose/Rosalie as a substitution for Y/N.
Warnings: scattered mature language, implied smut
Malachai wanted to fall to his knees, take back the words that cut her like a knife. He couldn’t. She’d vanished, and he had no idea where he could even begin to look for her. Kai’s palms were still bleeding, and the blind rage from seconds ago turned into deep regret.
Wiping his hands on the front of his jeans, staining the denim red, Kai forced himself to take a breath and get back into the car. The engine was still running. With a forceful hit against the steering wheel, he let out a heavy snarl of frustration. “What the fuck am I doing?”
Kai knew he’d been an absolute moron; she vanished and took all of his frenzied wrath away. He had been stupidly jealous of someone who had no importance. He slapped his own face a few times, hoping the sensation would wake him up.
Kai maneuvered the car back onto the road, continuing on the path toward their home. As he pulled into the driveway and saw all the lights were off, Kai knew Rosalie wasn’t there. He had no clue where she was. His head fell into his hands, the base of his palms slamming against his forehead over and over and over.
It took him fifteen minutes to get himself together: fifteen minutes of complete silence before Kai’s mind pulled all his emotions together and shut his heart up for a little while. This wasn’t the time to wallow in self-pity.
Nothing else mattered right now. He had to find her.
~
Malachai drove around for hours, and it was still early in the night. He called her a million times with no answer. He was on the way to the Mystic Grill. Their friends were going after the bonfire, and maybe she’d told someone where she was. Just as he parked, his phone rang. A picture of him and Rosalie lit up the screen, and he rushed to answer.
“Rosalie! Before you say anything, I’m so, so sorry. Please just come back. I didn’t mean it. You know that. I was just being stupid and–” Rose cut him off, and even then, the only thing he felt was relief from hearing her voice.
“I know, Kai. I know. I just need a little while, okay? I’ll come home soon. I’ll be home in an hour or two. Don’t worry about me. We’ll talk then.” Kai let out a shaky breath, closing his eyes and leaning back against his seat. “Okay. Stay safe.”
“I will. I love you.”
The dial tone rang out before Kai could return the sentiment. The phone fell from his hand to the passenger seat, and no one heard his next words. “I love you too.”
~
Rosalie hung up the phone, shutting the power off. She needed some time to herself, to remember what life was like without Malachai for a little while.
There wasn’t much worth remembering. Unlike Kai, her childhood had been the most peaceful part of her life. Then, she unraveled it all by killing her family in a fire she couldn’t control. Rose hadn’t felt much of anything in the last few years. Nothing but guilt mixed with an eternal numbness.
Kai brought emotions back into her life. He made her remember all of it, made her feel all of it again. Without his humanity, Kai had reveled in his murderous past. She remembered resenting him for it – as much as one could resent their soulmate, anyhow.
Leaning against a boulder, Rose watched the rushing waters of the Falls. She let them send her into a trance as she took stock of her life.
Rose could never resent Malachai, no matter what he said or did. She would always forgive him; one can only survive so long without forgiving themselves or the one they love.
~
Damon slid over a basket of waffle fries in Kai’s direction, gesturing for him to eat. He poked around them with no desire to eat any. “Oh, stop pouting. This was your first fight. You’ve got plenty ahead of you.” Malachai gave Damon a withering stare, unamused. “Thank you, Damon. Really comforting.”
He left the group, heading over to the bar. Adding alcohol to his mood would be a bad idea, so he just ordered a club soda with lime. Stefan followed Kai, taking a seat next to him. “Let me guess. Damon is an ass, and Stefan comes to apologize on his behalf.”
Stefan pressed his lips together, nodding sheepishly. “Mhmm. That’s how our world goes ‘round.” Kai just shook his head, taking a sip of his drink. “It’s been, what, over sixteen decades by now? Don’t you get tired of it?”
“It’s just what we do for people we love.”
What we do for the people we love. The words weighed heavily on Malachai. There was only one person he’d ever loved, and he hurt her beyond measure. He’d given up what he spent his lifetime desiring, and he would do it again. Kai would give up the Coven leadership – all that power – without a second thought for Rosalie.
The words came out of this self-loathing, insecure, envious side of him: something Kai thought he’d left behind long ago. Maybe it never left. Maybe the darkness would forever be a part of him. The darkness may not ever leave, but he needed her. Malachai needed Rosalie to light up the darkness that threatened to consume him. Forever.
~
An hour later, Malachai parked their car in the garage. Sighing deeply, he made his way inside, not knowing if Rosalie was home or not. The second he stepped through the door, he saw Rose asleep on the couch. The lamps were on, and a blanket covered her halfway.
Walking over to her quickly, he hovered over her, not sure if he should wake her. The trails of tears on her cheeks caused sharp pangs of pain in his heart. He did this, all with his mindless words, words he wished he could take back. Deciding it was best not to wake her after all, Kai tucked a lock of hair behind her cheek.
As gingerly as possible, Malachai placed one arm under her knees and the other under her neck, lifting her gently. She stayed asleep, thankfully, and he carried her upstairs to their bed. He laid her down gently, pressing his lips to her tear-stained skin. “I’m so sorry. I will never hurt you like that again.”
Just as he started to pull away, Kai felt Rosalie’s fingers grasp his wrist. “Malachai…” Her voice was quiet but not broken or hurt. He was eternally grateful for that. He looked back at her, his eyes swimming with remorse. “Rosalie, I am so sorry. I didn’t mean any of that. I’m just an idiot. A stupid, jealous, emotionally immature idiot who loves y–”
His words were cut off by her finger pressing against his lips. Rose shushed him, shifting so he’d come to lay beside her. “I know you didn’t mean it. That’s not the part that concerns me.” Though confused, Kai listened and clambered into the bed with her after kicking his shoes off.
“I know you didn’t mean what you said, you were hurt and angry. But Kai, you cannot react that way. Soulmate or not, in order for us to survive, you have to trust me just like I trust you. When I say it was nothing, you have to listen to me.
“Logan was someone I tried to distract myself with years ago. He was human, and I knew he wasn’t my soulmate. But I was hurt and lonely and… once I realized that my feelings for him weren’t genuine, I broke up with him. It was wrong to use him like that.”
True to what Rosalie said, Logan did not have any importance in her life; Malachai felt like she’d been hiding something. No matter if it was irrelevant, she needed to tell Kai for the sake of getting rid of his hurt and confusion.
“Kai, you know me. You know me more than anyone. You understand me in a way that no one else can. Please trust me.”
Malachai swallowed nervously, wrapping his arms around her. He lifted her up, laying Rosalie on top of him. “I do trust you. I trust you more than I trust myself.”
His arms enveloped her, squeezing her tenderly. “I promise, I won’t ever behave like a little boy throwing a tantrum again.”
Rose laughed once, raising her head. Her hair formed a curtain around them. Their lips met, and the candles scattered around the room all sparked to life at once.
After the emotional rollercoaster today, they needed this. In eager yearning, Rosalie’s lips danced with Kai’s. With a swift but tender movement, Malachai turned them, now on top of Rose. Her fingers tangled into his soft brown hair, keeping him close to her.
With a strong, decisive grip, Kai grabbed her left calf, hooking it around his hip. Their limbs meshed together, and Malachai sat up for just a second, tugging off her shirt and his own desperately…
~
When Rosalie’s eyes opened, still under the cover of darkness, they met Kai’s. He was awake, just looking upon her silently with a gentle smile on his face. She returned the smile sleepily, nuzzling into his embrace. “Why are you staring at me?”
He chuckled a little, perfectly at peace. His lips pressed to her temple. “Because you’re pretty. And I love looking at you. And I love you.” Kai’s left hand came up, stroking her hair soothingly. “It’s still really early. Go back to sleep, baby.”
“What about you?”
“I’ll sleep soon. Sometimes…” Kai’s cheek nestled against the crown of her head, his eyes fluttering closed. “Sometimes I just need to look at you for a little while and remember that you’re here. Remember that you’re real.”
Rose paused, pulling away just a bit to meet his eyes. She remembered the days when she, too, questioned if what they’d found in each other was real.
It had to be. There was proof of it everywhere.
Electricity flowed with every brush of their skin. Life didn’t feel whole without the other by their side. Most of all, they were blessed with seeing colors.
“I’m here, Malachai. I’m here, and so are you.” Kai cupped Rosalie’s face lovingly, kissing her lips. “I know.”
With the sheet wrapped around her, Rose slipped out of bed. She opened the drawer to their dresser, getting two of Kai’s shirts. Tossing him one, she put on the other while Malachai slid on his shorts. He didn’t exactly know why they were getting dressed and not going back to sleep, but he didn’t question it.
“Come with me.” With a gentle voice, Rose held her hand out to him. Kai took it, following behind her obediently. They went down the stairs and through the back door, standing in front of a big willow tree. Malachai watched as she knelt on the ground, using a garden tool to dig into some pile at the base of the tree.
“Rose, what are you–” His voice stopped abruptly. Malachai was no longer a siphon, but he had been one long enough to feel the unimaginable power emanating from the ground. Rosalie lifted this dirty, half-burnt hummingbird toy from the ground.
In complete silence, she stood again, placing it into his hand. With tears in her eyes, Rosalie gave him the greatest gift of all. One drop slid down her cheek. Malachai brushed it away as the sun’s first rays of the day washed over them.
“You shouldn’t have to lose anything.”

OC Story: Old Friend
(Meet Parker! Seems like they’re familiar with one of the main 12. In a similar vain to Kai and Dylan’s first story, this also serves as their backstory)
[CW: Mentions of Death]
It’s been… a long couple of years for Parker.
Their childhood village was destroyed by entities.
Their mother died right in front of them in the aftermath.
They had to witness their father slowly but surely fall into a sad depression with the absence of their mother
…But it’s fine! They’re totally fine! They’ve moved on from most of that. They’ve been focusing on more up and coming things ever since they’ve enrolled into Arcana Academy. Then again, as the leader of their assigned Academy group, that explains all the things that kept them busy.
It was just another day for Parker and their group in the campus of Arcana Academy. Half of Parker’s group if were being technical, some were busy with other stuff while Parker alongside the younger members of their group were with them.
Parker was given time to tour Nova, Ro, Dylan, and Kai throughout the Academy since the four of them were frequently getting lost even though they’ve all been in the Academy for around a month at that point.
It was mostly just talk about how they’ve been enjoying the Academy, their respective relationships, and all that other stuff.
(Parker never really was interested in relationships if their being honest with themselves)
———
D: There’s a word for that?
R: Yeah! There’s a whole spectrum for people with little to no interest for sex and/or romance.
K: Really? Interesting!
N: So how are you two adjusting to the surface world? It’s feels kind of… what’s the word… otherworldly! Right?
D: It’s harrowing to say the least. We’ve been here beforehand, but those times were much shorter compared to now. Me and Kai actually first met above water and we’ve basically been together ever since-
K: But then again, our first kiss was technically underwater. I still remember it like yesterday!
P: I think that’s lovely-
K: Oh yeah! I just remembered something!
R: Spill the tea, dude.
D: What?
R: Nothing.
K: … There’s this boy in my Animal Element class that was frequently napping during lectures, and they still managed to perform good during magic exercises.
D: Oh yeah, that student with the grey goggles with turquoise lenses right?
K: Yeah! I think his name was… C? Wonder how they got that name.
N: I think I’ve seen that kid in my Technology class too. Ro and I keep running into his other friends somehow.
P: That’s C for you. They’ve always wanted to learn every element in the Academy curriculum since they were young.
N, R, D & K: You know them?!
P: Yeah, we were friends before I moved away. I thought I already told you guys about this.
