Soup?-Kaguya X Reader
“Soup?” you asked as you slid down the side of the wall and next to an equally tired Kaguya.
Kaguya nodded before responding, “Soup.”
The two of you sat there for a while, letting the sun rise as the long night came to an end.
“Kaguya?”
“Yes?”
“Delivery?”
“Absolutely.”
The two of you groaned in tandem as you both stumbled to your feet.
A few moments later, the two of you were shuffling through the streets of the slowly waking city.
Out of the corner of your eye, you noticed others who spent the night out stumbling off into the sunrise just like the two of you.
Like usual, you didn’t pay any mind to them and in turn they didn’t pay any mind to you.
Soon, the two of you arrived at the place the two of you shared and as usual Kaguya grumbled about there being too many stairs as the two of you made the trek upwards.
A few moments later, you slumped onto the couch with Kaguya falling into the spot next to you.
Wordlessly, you reached for your phone on the side table, sending the request for soup to one of the businesses owned by the Licht Kreis.
“It’ll be here in an hour.” you stated through a deep yawn.
“What are we supposed to do until then?” Kaguya muttered, her eyes beginning to droop shut.
“The usual I guess. Clean up and get some sleep before eating.” you responded, your own tiredness making itself known now that you’ve stopped moving.
Kaguya let out a groan and in response you let out a hum of agreement.
After a few moments of moaning and groaning in complaint, the two of you stood once more and stumbled towards the bathroom.
The second the door closed behind you and her you both began to remove the dirty clothes that seemed to be suck to your bodies.
A long time ago, Kaguya would’ve been putting you through hell with teasing remarks and little pranks at a time like this.
Now however, the two of you knew each other inside and out.
Simply put, there was no need for modesty between the two of you.
Slipping past Kaguya as she slipped out of her leggings, you turned the knob on the shower, making scalding hot water fall from the shower head.
A few moments later, the both of you stood under the falling water, leaning on one another to make sure the both of you stood under the shower head and felt tense and overworked muscles begin to loosen.
Kaguya let out a sigh of satisfaction and pleasure.
You could not blame her.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Kaguya sat across from you, dressed in an old, too large T-Shirt and a pair of sweatpants, a bowl of soup in front of her and deep bags under her eyes.
As she lifted her spoon to her mouth, her eyes met yours and she asked the same question as always.
“Did something catch your eye?”
And as always, you responded truthfully.
“Only the most beautiful woman in the world.”
“Oh? And where might she be?” Kaguya asked, a cat-like smile on her face.
“Right in front of me.” You told her truthfully, just like you always did.

I'm not quite sure how to word this properly since I've been out of the writing game for a while but I'll try. So...hear me out.
I was letting my mind wander after seeing this picture and it's very foreboding. It's GREAT and it got the wheels in my head turning. (Now here's where I'm probably going to mess up something/everything because it's been YEARS since I've written anything Naruto related but...)
I've seen fics branch out and have Tobirama go forward in time since Flying Raijin is a space-time jutsu. So I'm thinking about it in a 'space and time' context and wondering if it's possible for him to jump forward while also moving to a different 'space,' so to speak. What if he takes or swaps out the place of a different reality's version of him? What if he lands in a universe where Madara won and succeeded in enacting the Eye of the Moon plan but without the whole Kaguya thing afterwards?
And then I got to thinking more on it, contemplating what other differences there could be. Which led to this universe's version of him and Madara meeting at the Naka River and became somewhat friends instead of how it turned out in Tobirama's timeline. At least getting friendly enough to the point to Madara, albeit subconsciously at the time, sees Tobirama as his even after the reveal of them being from opposing clans. Perhaps it was done by Hashirama because that's his little brother and the way Madara looks at him sometimes is unnerving. Whether or not it's the same as canon but with different players is up for debate because I'm only skimming the surface of this thought. Clearly, things didn't end well for them because, again, Infinite Tsukuyomi happened. But here's where things get interesting.
Madara, upon seeing him actually living instead of Edo Tensei'd, is all, "Oh, so you've finally decided to show up." And Tobirama is very confused because where is he? Why is there a giant tree with what looks like mummified bodies strung up? Why does Hashirama look like that when he saw him hale and hardy yesterday? On that note, why does Hashirama look absolutely terrified when he looks at Tobirama? And why does Madara sound so...pleased to see him when, ordinarily, he can't stand to be within ten feet of him? Madara, taking his moment of silence or a surprised, 'What?' as a means to continue, goes on to explain that he's seen this moment coming and has been waiting for it to happen for a very, very long time. And now that Tobirama's here with any type of resistance being futile at this point, as no one can stop Madara now, he makes it clear that Tobirama won't be escaping now and that Hashirama won't be able to stop him this time. He then tells Tobirama that he needn't worry as Madara doesn't plan on killing him. However, he needs him out of the way to finish what he's started before taking what's rightfully his.
And Tobirama makes the mistake of looking Madara in the face during this exchange and catches sight of the Rinnegan and starts to tip over like he going to fall because he's put in a Genjutsu/sleep-like state but Madara or Hashirama, I'm not sure at this point, catches him before he hits the ground but the last thing Tobirama sees is Hashirama looking so, so scared as he rushes towards him.
I know it's a jumbled mess of rambles but I want to emphasize the danger Tobirama's unknowingly gotten himself into and that Hashirama KNOWS the kind of danger it is. One that he'd managed to prevent years ago and had convinced his Tobirama that Madara was dangerous. Think Optimal Sibling Hashirama if we're going by AO3 tags. But it's not a noncon levels of danger but more like an Uchiha is OBSESSED with him and will burn the world down if he has to just to get to him.
#madatobi#I'm really just rambling a 'what if?' that I thought was neat#an au within an au if you will#putting under a read more because it's kind of long#I'm just gonna leave this here before I change my mind

The Flying Kipper theme and ‘Flying’ from Tale of Princess Kaguya (apart from both having flying in the title) both hit so hard and if you listen to them side by side, they feel like companions of one another despite being written for two vastly different pieces of media. The emotional beats are the same. The way one is engulfed by the feeling of being lifted off their feet, traveling through the air jubilantly at the peak of oneness and joy. Then dropped down to cold hard reality with a mixture of matter-of-fact finality and pity. The lovely orchestral and choir version of Flying Kipper especially really gets at ya.
#what I’m saying is#if you told Henry the Tale of Princess Kaguya he’d cry for days#ttte#they aren’t the same song but in a way they are and I’m lucky to get to know them both

Incidentally, a recent disappointment of mine (though it was pointed out by at least one other person) I post fanart of Konngara, a PC-98-era Touhou character. It's a fully rendered piece with a fully done background, the character is posed dynamically, I've done research on several elements. Not a work without flaw, but something I've put a lot of effort in. 31 notes, has had 31 notes for a few weeks now. I post fanart of Kaguya, a Windows-era Touhou character. It's a shitty little MS Paint doodle from five years ago when I was learning to use a pen tablet. I copied it from her th8 sprite, specifically because it didn't have any visible hands or feet. Not impossible to appreciate, but very much a silly practice drawing that I've never taken too seriously. 100 notes now and people are still sharing it.
It's just tumblr notes, really, but... You know. You know!

You knew this job was strange from the start.
You'd been told to make a delivery to Eientei, a simple task of bringing the head of the household a meal. It was a box of doughnuts, simple enough to carry them. Yet, despite the ease of the job, you'd been the only one to take up the easy paying job. Everyone else had some excuse to turn it down, leaving you the only one left to take it.
For some reason, you swore you felt pitying eyes on your back as you left.
The feeling of dread hadn't receded as you'd marched through the bamboo forest, the manor looming through the branches. It was getting late, the moon rising behind Eientei and casting you in it's shadow as you approached. Passing through the empty courtyard, you approached the doors.
The instructions had been clear. You do not need to wait to be greeted. Sliding the paper door open, you step inside. It's deathly quiet, not a single sound from the hall. Looking to your left and right, you glance around until the smallest noise reaches your ears. Too faint to recognize what it was, you nonetheless took it as a sign of habitation and started walking that way.
Drawing nearer, the sound becomes more clear. It's the creaking of wood, as if an enormous weight were pressing down on floorboards again and again. Rounding the corner, you blink, finally face to face with your employer.
To say she was big would be an understatement. You had never even imagined a person could be so hugely obese. Even clad in luxurious robes tailored to her enormity, nothing could hide the sheer volume of space she occupied. Flooding the hallway with her girth, hips grazing the walls either side of her, you watched as she took sleepy steps forward. The creaking wasn't just the slap of her fat feet against the floor, but her belly dragging along it as well, gut hanging so low and so far that it held her up as much as her limbs.
One hand resting on a breast that weighed as much as you did, the other rubbing at her eyes, she peered at you as you stood there dumbfounded. Looking to the box in your hand, she smiled.
"Oh, you must be my delivery."
Before you could gather your wits, the breath left your body as Kaguya stepped forward. Her stomach overwhelmed you immediately, your footing lost as she squashed into you. Covering you up to your chest in heavy flab, you struggled to do anything. Reaching out, she took the box of doughnuts from you. Flipping the lid, revealing at least fifty pastries glistening in the moonlight, she licked her lips.
And deftly fed you one. Cramming it into your mouth, you sputtered, trying to spit it out. Laying the box on her stomach, her free hand reached up to pinch your nose. Suffocating under the doughnut, your only choice was to swallow.
"I'm so glad you got here just in time, I was so bored."
You hack out a cough, and feel your eyes widen. It's impossible to see beneath the flab that Kaguya is pinning you with, but something feels different. Your body feels heavier, and as you glance down at your arms they grow thicker and rounder, wrists gaining new padding as your fingers puff up. Everything about you feels heavier, more plush, and in your shock Kaguya easily feeds you another doughnut.
"I knew they'd deliver me someone cute if I asked~ My usual playthings are indisposed, so I needed a new one to entertain me tonight." She giggles as you start to swell up again, feeding you more and more. "So don't disappoint me~"
You try to fight back, but it's hard. Maybe if you had responded immediately you could have lashed out, but now the lethargy of these strange pastries has settled in. Your arms muster no strength as they fight back, unable to pry Kaguya's hands away from your face. Every bite you take makes them look more and more like her own, and you feel your torso grow heavier. Beneath the landslide of the princess's stomach, your stance grows wider, thickening thighs blowing up and squishing together.
But that gives you a chance as well.
Swallowing down the last doughnut, growing just a bit heavier, you mange to shove Kaguya back with just your weight alone. As she stumbles away from you, her own blubbery body wobbling, you can see more clearly the damage she's done to you. Your stomach sits heavily against your legs, a mound of dough that reaches far enough to round you out, wobbling as you take ragged breaths. With hips reaching out as far as your arm span, the plush side rolls prop up your limbs, forcing your tubby arms to rest at awkward angles at your side. You lumber forward to feel your ass shake, as wide as a wagon as you fight to start moving. Thighs as wide around as trees slap against each other, rubbing harshly as you start to stumble away.
"Hmm~? Where are you going? You haven't even had half of them yet~"
You're slow, as would be expected of someone so outrageously fat, but the living mountain pursuing you is even slower. The gap between the two of you widens, and soon you can see it. The door to the outside. Huffing, tubby cheeks flushed red, you rip open the door and take a step forward. The cool night arm caresses your new blubber, tantalizingly promising safety-
WHUMP!
You blink, wondering why you aren't going anywhere, why you aren't escaping to freedom, when it dawns on you. Looking down, your hands reach to either side of you. Your thick, hanging love handles are wedged in the door, caught between the meat of your hips and the wooden frame. You slap the walls, struggling, huffing and panting as you fight to squeeze, but it's impossible. The amount of girth that stops you from leaving is more than just an inch or two, and no amount of struggle is cramming you past that.
You hear a giggle behind you and your blood runs cold. You feel her enormously soft belly squish into your back, the sensation of two marshmallows pressing on each other as she leans in and drapes herself over you. The frame creaks with the added weight, but to your dismay doesn't break. A tubby arm reaches around your shoulder, force feeding you yet another doughnut as you whimper.
"Dinner and a show~? You're too good at this~ I really want to have some fun with you now~"
You try to scream, to cry, to do anything to call for aid, but you only muffle out a response through a mouthful of pastries before Kaguya drags you back into the mansion, the door to Eientei slamming shut behind you.

animes 2023
i didn't watch a ton of seasonals but i watched more than usual so... looking back? very somewhat brief comments! obviously inspired by @kbnet doing the same.
Tengoku Daimakyou
fave anime this year was probably Tengoku Daimakyou. easily the one that stood out the most from an animation perspective, the wonky brain transplant gender thing was a lot of fun, and for better or worse i seem to have now trained a pretty high tolerance for an impactful but questionably necessary sexual assault subplot in the finale.
I kinda get it, it'd been telegraphing a fascination with what makes gender, with power and exploitation, and in general the difficult experience of sexuality from pretty early on. there's a lot of ways that Robin could turn out to have clay feet when we meet him. they went for about the nastiest possible; that episode becomes a bit of a rape-revenge plot. the real question will be how they handle the aftermath.
and honestly? I am really looking forward to where it goes. I'm intrigued by what will happen to the psychic kids, I'm enjoying the main pair's meandering journey. it can deliver an impactful episode plot that hits hard, but it also definitely feels like it has narrative momentum towards something.
technically it stayed insanely strong throughout: the characters are distinctive and expressive, the animation is super lively, the backgrounds gorgeous. love to see Production I.G. firing on all cylinders like this.
Oshi no Ko
Oshi no Ko from the same season was also very solid, like it definitely dangles a pretty wacky premise, but it turns into this very earnest thing about acting and the many tensions and violences of the entertainment industry. Since watching that I've read all the manga that's available in scanlation, and it's a pretty direct beat for beat adaptation, but it's interesting how pacing that felt kinda laboured in the anime felt a lot snappier in the manga.
Probably the most interesting challenge for the animators was how to take a story that really hinges on the question of what makes for good and bad acting and make it convincing in animation. In the end, they still rely a lot on framing and symbolic elements like the star eyes to get it across, but there's still some really key moments where the animated acting shines.
I was curious enough to start reading Kaguya-sama: Love Is War by the same author and it didn't do a lot. I wanna check out the anime though bc it seems to be really highly respected.
16-Bit Sensation: Another Layer
16Bit Sensation has a lot of endearing aspects. The mc is endearing for her big himejoshi energy even if they're blatantly angling to push her together with the guy. The wilder turns taken at the end are fun (a lot to be dug into with the 'what if moe evolved in the states' thing) although it kind of quickly falls into a pretty conventional hero-villain save the day thing. I liked the yuri-lite subplot with the girl who the protag helps to buy some eroge who then becomes a gamedev herself. The concept can be read as a fascinating kind of CCRU thing with the concept of moe reaching back in time to create itself. That could be fun if you delved into it more.
If there's one thing it's kind of lacking it's like... any actual details on PC98 game dev, which mostly happens in offscreen montages. I was watching it with a friend who's a real big nerd for old computers so it was fun to share that with her, but ultimately the most it has to say about the actual games is that the girls are cute (one of them says uguu) and also dithering is a thing. The finale involves this escalating gag about strapping PC98s together in parallel to make increasingly unlikely compute stacks, which is fun but also it's kind of just using the PC98 as a symbol at that point as you get further and further from the actual capabilities of the machine.
What is that symbol? There's an odd kind of quiet nationalism in it. The significance of the PC98 is that it was the last successful home computer to be made domestically in Japan; likewise the stakes of the finale are the culture of Akihabara as an otaku space, with the alternative being gentrified blocks of flats and American cultural domination. I haven't had a chance to see the finale yet so I'm wondering how they're gonna resolve it. I feel you could do a lot more with the ideas they raise in this alternate timeline, but it's playing pretty loose at this point with a very protagonist centric story, so it can't really get into them.
Trigun Stampede
Can't say too much about this one because I only saw half and I was watching it unsubbed for immersion practice, and it was a bit beyond my level. It's interesting from a character design trends perspective. Orange are undoubtedly the kings of 3DCG anime, but I didn't like the lighting style here as much as I did Houseki. Need to watch this again at some point subbed.
NieR Automata ver 1.1a
Hard to know what to say here. This was one of several big production collapses of 2023 - a two cour anime that went on a long hiatus before finishing even one. I kind of fell off at that point, so I still need to finish it.
I went in with a sense of trepidation. I didn't like what I'd seen of the designs and photography, and the first episode seemed to confirm my worst fears, with some incredibly shoddy CGI and weak action. Thankfully, the later episodes all improve on matters a great deal.
This would be a terrible substitute for the game, but as a companion piece, it's pretty cool - it jumps between the main beats and fleshes out some of the side characters, or focuses on some odd poignant little stories. I was honestly surprised how many notes it could hit. Of course, Keiichi Okabe's music does a lot of heavy lifting - the animation is sometimes strong (if a bit melty) but I don't love the designs and photography style in general. Still this anime grew on me a lot and I do mean to finish it - it's NieR after all, practically a religious obligation at this point.
Attack on Titan: The Final Season: The Final Chapters: Part 1: Dream Drop Distance
lol
So like a year ago I watched through Attack on Titan with mogs, came to a somewhat questionable redemptive reading of it as not being the fashiest anime ever but charting a rather muddled break from a nationalist worldview into more of a Gundam type story of enemies putting aside their differences, the futility of military sacrifice, etc etc. (we later watched Tanya the Evil, continually waiting for the other shoe to drop with it being straight up a nazi propaganda power fantasy - it never did, that anime is straight up irredeemable lmao). anyway I said at the time that the finale would confirm or deny my interpretation of what it's about, determined by the question of how it addresses Eren's ideological turn. I think I was maybe out waaaaay on a limb with all this shit lmao. ngl mostly I watched this cartoon because the story is so deranged and I want to see for myself what insane turns the guy will pull next.
Anyway MAPPA spent a lot of animators on this, bc they're MAPPA, so it naturally had some very impressive scenes. Any sort of thematic resolution was still deferred and I'm 99% sure it's gonna be some sort of pathetic copout... oh apparently they released the finale like two months ago lmao, guess I'll finally get to find out. What a weird franchise to have driven the 2010s anime boom honestly.
Magical Destroyers
I really wanted to like this one more than I did. A lot of anime these days feels very sanded down and predictable, and whatever it is, Magical Destroyers definitely isn't that. It has a great OP that writes a lot of cheques that the show itself sadly isn't really up to paying...
youtube
...and there's a lot that's interestingly odd about it; it's got this cheerfully enthusiastic attitude towards explicit sexuality, it's got a very online weeb sense of humour, it honestly kind of feels like of if the people who do 'Otaku Vs.' on youtube got to make a series.
Anyway at some point I saw a 20 minute summary of the rest:
youtube
The explanation behind all this turns out to be: the creator is a 24 year old Japanese-American guy who's spent half his life in California, skating and drawing for clothing brands and DJing and stuff like that after he didn't make it as a mangaka at first, and somehow his connections turned into an anime deal. Ostensibly Undertale was an inspiration although it's not entirely clear how. The result is something incredibly disjointed that doesn't go anywhere, with incomprehensible meta turns and barely existent characterisation, but it certainly stands as something different.
Zom100
I watched this because Sakugablog covered it. It's very nicely animated for sure, with great use of saturated colour, but I dropped it after three or four episodes because I couldn't connect to the power fantasy, the only girl was way too overdetermined by being the obvious love interest, and it really didn't seem to be going anywhere. Also the flight attendant episode just felt mean-spirited, especially how little impact it seems to leave on our protagonists. I get that the whole point is the MC's sunny attitude being completely at odds with the apocalyptic setting, but I ended up finding him grating.
There's also some unfortunate irony in the fact that after the pointed jabs at the animators' former studio OLM in the first ep, they apparently ended up crunching pretty hard by the end.
and...
Damn is that really all I watched this year? Still haven't seen a few much-hyped ones like the Scott Pilgrim anime or Frieren. I guess mostly I watch stuff through Animation Night still...
As far as movies: Boy and the Heron/How Do You Live only just came out in the UK, gonna see it in a week. Haven't seen Suzume yet, or the whiskey one, or The Concierge. I wrote my comments on Kaina of the Great Snow Sea (disappointing), Tunnel to Summer: The Exit of Goodbyes (decent summer movie), Lonely Castle in the Mirror (solid and affecting) and The First Slam Dunk (actually incredible, made me understand sports) during Annecy - technically most of those came out last year anyway lol. Apparently there's a new Psycho-Pass movie too! When Psycho-Pass is good it's great, so I'll give that a shot.
Outside of anime - been meaning to check out some TV donghua like Link Click; also very excited to dig into Scavenger's Reign. I'll certainly report back when I do.
Animation Night's kinda fallen apart in the last few months - it would happen sooner or later, the project has kinda run its course and achieved "social connection" and "speedrunning an education in animation history" lol. but I'm glad I've kept it going as long as I have. I'm gonna try and bring it back in the new year, it would be nice to reach that big 200 before I wrap it up for good.
Thanks for reading my blog, nerds!! Let's see if I can make 2024 the year I go from just talking about animation to making my own short films.

Dead Hearts New Beginnings
Pokemon: Alolan Rattata, Kantonian Rattata
Pronouns: (She/Her)
----------------------------------------------
Sitting in the main froirar The rain trickled down outside the mansion's walls. It was late into the afternoon an many of your fellow teammates were either chilling in their rooms, or hanging out in the froirar just as you were. The afternoon sun was starting to set, not that anyone could tell given the constant gloomy skys that plagued over Po town. Though checking your phones clock was a good indicator that it was getting late. But to Team Skull "late" was just the perfect time to catch up and talk amongst each other as Guzma's orders and tasks took up the majority of the day to complete.
You were a quiet grunt, soft spoken and not too involved with the others. You found companionship with Dominique, who just went by Dom. A grunt from the Kalos region. With you being from the Kanto region the two of you quickly bonded over being "Non-Alolan". But given the loud whops and cheering coming from down the hall, he was occupied by playing GTA 5 with some of the other grunts. And so you sat alone with your phone and two Rattatas, a Kantonian and Alolan, and quietly listened to the other grunts around you.
The murmering voices around were almost soothing in a way. The rain created the most perfect ambiance and the diming lights above you made for a perfect calm atmosphere the mansion was not used to having. Seems like your rattata's noticed too as the lept from your lap and raced up the stairs beconing for you to follow. You knew exactly what they were getting at. It was story time.
Dashing up the stairs and down the halls you found yourself in a very secluded part of the mansion. The library. Believe it or not, being a Team Skull grunt didn't mean you had ditched your appreciation for the old and classy. Hell that's how you and Dominique met in the first place. Both of you having a soft spot for literature the two of you kept this spot hidden from the rest of crew, knowing you'd be in for a hoard of teasing if they found you actually reading the books in here instead of using them as projectiles. Your rattata's found solice in the library too and now as a psedo-tradtion, when the air is perfect, you come here to sit, relax, and read. Horror, Sci-Fi, History, and Adventure. All in the palms of your hands, but the one genre that satisfied you the most was Romance.
It was almost comical how girly you were. On the outside you resembled all the other grunts. Booty shorts and that tight fit tank top, skull beanie, and bandana. Passerbys would flea the area the second the skull crew would step into town. You'd get down with the mischief with your fellow members and even steal and vandalise the cities. But here, in the library with all its dilapidated glory you were giddy and giggling when reading about lovers experiencing true loves kiss between words and lines in the pages of books. There wasn't a snowballs chance in a volcano that you would ever let this secret slip out beyond the librarys door. So you sat all alone dreaming about being swept off your feet with a lover to call your own. Though the lovers you'd read in these old books don't quite capture the ideal lover you have in mind, and you find it hard to believe they ever will.
Your thoughts were interrupted by the chirping of your rattata's as they start shoving any and all books they could hold up in their tiny paws. They learned your habits and picked up books they recall you smiling the most at. Eleanor & Park, The Fault in Our Stars, Pride and Prejudice, even manga and childrens stories flew in front of your eyes with Kaguya-sama: Love is War and Cinderella. However there was always one story that would make you smile the brightest while your heart reverberated in your chest. That story was Rapunzel.
A story about a triumphant prince finding his princess whose locked away in a tower. Rapunzel and her long flowing locks and beauty of old, who has a heart of gold waiting for the day her Prince sweeps her off her feat. Its a story you could read over and over again and still enjoy the ending even if you can see it from a mile away. Yes this was the perfect story for today's read.
Though such is the way of your mind, that outloud the story is spoken as it is written, a man and a woman. However, the inside your mind depicts a different image. A story of that between woman and woman. Princes that fought on pages were sword swinging women in your head. The husky male lover sweeping his sweetheart off her feet you only imagined the strength of a woman doing that to another that it made your heart swoon. So often did your mind turn these men into women that when reading absentmindedly aloud, instead of prince charming waking up snow white, it was princess darling instead. No Romeos just Rosalinas. No Princes turned to Politoads but beautiful maidens instead.
When the storm seemed to settle outside, and your pokemon snuggled comfortably entangled on your chest, your story time could start. But like clock work, without much thought at all your thoughts and speech mangled into one. Next thing you knew the lovely prince became your heorine, and her name was Plumeria.
You started where all good stories did with a "Once upon a time", and the story is as follows, a princess locked in her tower. The wicked mother who saw it right to shield her away from the world, controlling Rapunzel's every action. The poor woman who wept by the window hoping for the day her savior would come and find her, as her hair grew and grew until it was long enough to touch the earth below. Though no prince charming was coming to save this princess.
" .. . and so our herione climed and climed and climed all the way up to the top of Rapunzel's tower. Using only Rapunzel's long hair to do so. .. "
Your Rattatas snuggled up to you ever so slightly taking in all your warmth.
*. . .She lept into Rapunzel's window. . . romeved her long cloak and revealed herself to the princess. Not much needed to be spoken between the two, as the glow in each others eyes was enough to say a thousand words. . .*
*. . . yet . . . *
You leaned in closely to your rattatas building up suspense, the thunder lowly rumbling outside.
*. . . in a flash!!. . .*
The lightning cracked outside with the built tension.
*. . . our heroine was faced to face with the wicked mother. Holding her sweet Rapunzel in her bony grasp threatening to harm her if she dare step closer. Though, our heroine has come to far to give up now. And so she drew her sword and began fighting the wicked mother jumping and dodging and magic thrown her way. They hustled and jumped around the walls of the tower, with our heroine doing everything she could to protect Rapunzel. Our heorine was nearly defeated, her wounds became too much, her injuries caused her to nearly collapse. But when her eyes locked with Rapunzel's she knew she had to keep fighting. With one final charge she lept at the wicked mother and pushed her out the window, where she met her end at the bottom of the tower. . .*
and just as you were about to spout the ending and all to familiar voice sent sparks and shivers to your heart.
Plumeria: "and the two hold hands or somethin', fall in love, maybe kiss and hold hands and . . . ride off into the sunset."
Nearly leaping from your seat you yelped in surprise while a deep blush formed on your face.
(Y/N): "ACK! WHAT! . . Gurl don't do THAT!?! Where the HELL did you come from."
Plumeria: *She smirked lightly* . . "Wow . . guess I actually caught you in the act . . don't blane me but I didn't think anyone actually came in this dark ass room to actually do, you know "Reading""
It was kinda silly how you could dress in this skull uniform and call yourself a skull grunt. With all the thrashing and destroying, you were sitting here surrounded by books.
(Y/N): . . .*Blushing* . Sh. . Shut up .
Plumeria: "At least the attitude is still intact, but . . . What's with the switch in gender roles. . I don't read but even I know this story sure as shit doesn't have some women saving the day. . especially for another woman."
(Y/N): . . ."Well why . . .why does it matter to you.?!" you say flustered appearance and all. It's not like you were trying to yell at her but not only are you crushing on her hard, and have been for a while, you didn't need her teasing you for your weird habit of turning all media you consume to be wlw.
Plumeria: "God . . cool it. I am not trying to judge you."
Feeling the room grow cold you didn't have it in you to reply. Instead you silently put the book down and tried your best to distract your racing heart via cleaning up the area around you. Your rattata's were already making quick work of putting the books away when suddenly you felt a soft, warm hand graze against your own. Bright yellow eyes staired back into your own you almost hit your head against the bookshelf with how fast you turned away to keep her from seeing your flustered face.
Plumeria: " . .. Tsk . .it's not like I said you had to pack up and leave." With a heavy hand she wrapped her arm around your waist and pulled you back to the ground. Your body was rested up against hers. "So annoying. . ." she muttered out.
With your heart beating ever faster you hadn't noticed that she dropped a book right into your shaking hands.
(Y/N): ". . . what . . " Noticing the book in your hand your eyes only had to glance at the book for you to know which one it was. " . . . uh . . oh . okay . . 'the hunger games'?? ... *You let of a small snort* . .you do know that this book is like, about uh . . dystopian society, and political stuff, and . . yeah. Its good! No shame but . .is there a reason why you chose this?"
Now it was Plumeria's turn to blush.
Plumeria: ". . ack . .well Yeah of course I know that!! I've seen the movies. . .its cool . . and who cares what I picked . . . the cover looked interesting so . . just quit your yap sesh and get to it." She said trying to dismiss your questioning while bonking your head with her fist.
(Y/N): ". . . ow . . . *sighing and blushing* . you sure bout this? No ones gonna think of you aa some weirdo for staying?"
Plumeria: " . . hmm . . just shut up and read fast then if your that concerned about it." She said while blushing too.
Looking up to her one last time your heart had begin to slow down and follow the neat of her own rhythm. Each others breathing seemed to blend together and your body's felt as one. Her own salazzle had come out to chill with her trainer bringing a gentle heat to the room. Your Rattata's were just as happy too now that they no longer have to fight for space on your lap. Your kantonian Rattata took no time to hesitate to snuggle up against Plumeria, as you began to read allowed, while the thunder rolled on by beyond the mansions windows.

[ @sagemom ] 𝙱𝚄𝚁𝙸𝙴𝙳 𝚃𝙷𝙴𝙸𝚁 𝙳𝙴𝙰𝙳 > sender spits out a mouthful of blood at receiver's feet :D <
The sight of blood had never been something that bothered him. Born and raised in the prison cell of the Kaguya clan, Kimimaro had been intimately familiar with puddles upon puddles of blood, the metallic scent almost comforting to him. Not that time, however. The sight of Orochimaru’s blood was enough to terrify him, jade coloured eyes going wide as fear rushed through his veins.
❛ Orochimaru-sama! ❜ He exclaimed, hands aching to touch the older man, to try and steady him. To protect him. He knew his master’s body was decaying rapidly, that was why Kimimaro was there. His sole purpose in life to serve as the man’s ultimate vessel. And yet he wasn’t ready to host Orochimaru’s soul, or so he had been told. Still seeing his master in so much pain, coughing so much blood was devastating to him.
❛ Please, you shouldn’t strain yourself. Should I call Kabuto-san? I— ❜ slowly Kimimaro gazed upon Orochimaru’s golden eyes. ❛ Please tell me how I can help you, Orochimaru-sama. ❜ The question was asked like a plea, soft and meek like the voice of a frightened child. Despite his age, the sight of Orochimaru’s vulnerability made Kimimaro feel young and helpless again.

Never-Ending Betelgeuse
It’s a long story, so I want to take my time. (Chapter 425). | @kagumo-zine fic for The Man and The Moon Zine | AO3 |
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
When Sakumo wakes up, he is not alone in his house.
By instinct, his hand is on his tantō before his feet even hit the ground. His eyes are still adjusting to the morning light as he treads silently toward the kitchen. The scent is somehow woody, ambrosial, and medicinal all at once, but barely there, in the way a summons would be before they first travel to their contract. He might not have noticed it at all were it not for the humming.
There is a steady, low hum, drifting out from deeper in his home. It is neither meditative nor melodic. More so, it sounds to Sakumo like the buzzing of bees or the inexplicable plaints of the forest which set the deer on edge.
It is all the more perplexing when he sees the source of the noise. The mouth of the most lovely woman he has ever seen, standing barefoot and seemingly unarmed in the middle of his home, who pauses her strange song to bite one of the red onions he had harvested this season as if it were an apple.
She takes no note of Sakumo entering the kitchen. He is standing directly in front of her, his sword half-raised, still in his bedclothes, so she can’t possibly be ignorant of his presence. Still, her focus is on the onion. He gets the feeling he’s being ignored.
“Excuse me,” says Sakumo, clearing his throat. “But those are my onions.”
She finally looks at him. And with a smile that knocks the wind out of Sakumo, matter-of-factly informs him, “I ate them.”
“Er, why?”
His intruder considers the question. Glancing upward in reflection, she decides, “Hunger.”
Sakumo laughs, finally lowering his tantō. He supposes that’s as good an answer as any other. “If you’re hungry, I can make you something,” he offers.
She smiles more widely, and Sakumo thinks this must’ve been the correct answer. Her hair, both silver and purple, sways as instantaneously she moves from several metres away to right in front of his nose. By the speed of the movement, he’s not sure he would’ve been able to reach her with his tantō if he’d tried.
“I am Kaguya,” she says, so close he’s almost cross-eyed trying to meet her gaze. From this distance, it is clear that her eyes are not just glassy, as he’d thought, but lacking any pupils. Her height is also a surprise, unimposing as she’d seemed in his kitchen.
“Hatake Sakumo,” he replies, stepping back so that he has enough room to bow.
“Sakumo,” she repeats, like a song.
“So, what do you like to eat besides onions?”
--
The next time he sees Kaguya, his fingers are buried deep in the snow amongst his cabbages.
It is tedious work, moving through the layers of slush and straw that cover his vegetables. The other villagers of his skillset would be using their chakra and tools to complete this task. Yet Sakumo’s ancestors also grew their own crops, and while he’s not above breaking tradition, there is something to the value of what can be done by hand. So he digs.
When Sakumo collects his last cabbage a few hours later, he finds a pair of familiar white eyes looking at him intently through the bed of straw. Just like before, he can perceive what’s in front of him perfectly fine with his own eyes, but all of the instincts and extrasensory abilities he has honed since he was a child are suspiciously silent. It is as if the person in front of him is no different than the water and earth beneath him, or the trees on the far side of his field.
He brushes the straw away from a set of eyes and his fingers graze a warm cheek. “You’re not a scarecrow, are you?”
“Aino said I am a woman,” replies his companion. As she speaks, Sakumo feels the wind shift. It is the only warning he gets before all the snow covering his land melts. Kaguya glides upwards and lands seated on top of the straw bed, as if lying beneath half a metre of sleet is something she does every day.
“You look a little different than most women I know,” Sakumo admits, both artless and appreciative.
In the six months that have passed since she spent three days following him around his farmland, Kaguya has gained a pair of horns on either side of her head, and a third eye closed in what appears strikingly close to a wink.
“What do you think I am?”
Beautiful, Sakumo wants to say, but it feels terribly forward. So instead he says, pink-cheeked and smiling, “Tall.”
“Thank you.”
This time around, she stays longer. It is a full month that Kaguya spends with him. The weather is frigid enough that his skills are more needed in his village than outside of it, and he is grateful for the company.
Kaguya speaks of Aino again, and two people she describes only as “the young ones.” She never says what land or clan she belongs to, but among chakra users that is a common way to avoid bloodshed. Yet he knows she is something, be it samurai, shinobi or spirit. He can tell from the way she replies to thoughts he has not spoken aloud, how she sees the most minute changes in his posture, or how she dances around his sword as he practices his Iaidō. Though that third eye of hers never opens, Sakumo is certain if it did, he would have no way of stopping her.
As it is, Kaguya is only kind to him, curious and forthright in her behaviour. She has no qualms about leaning over Sakumo to grab his hair for his attention or prodding his cheeks when he grins. She calls him breathtakingly human once, and Sakumo blushes for the whole afternoon. He resolves himself to ask if she will stay with him for the spring.
However just as suddenly as she appears, when the first flowers emerge from the ground, Kaguya is gone.
--
Kaguya appears again at the other end of his sword mid-battle.
As with the winter having called upon him to tend to his crops to shore up the agricultural needs of his neighbours, the summer calls upon Sakumo to utilize his most innate skill: fighting.
While his village is not so entrenched in the framework of clans as other followers of ninshū, it is not above skirmishes of land, law and loyalty. The former is what has been troubling them these days. Naturally, Sakumo recognizes that collectives arise where there is free access to water, ore, and arable soil. His people are unfortunate enough to have all three. It is a driving force for desperation in the surrounding areas.
It is why each battle makes Sakumo’s tantō a little heavier in his hand. He wonders if this fight is easier for the shinobi, who have the privilege of only seeing as much of his comrades’ faces as are visible through their armoured masks.
Though his opponents’ usage of chakra is different than his, Sakumo is quick to adapt, and even quicker to cut them down. Shinobi techniques rely on having time to gather energy, and Sakumo’s blade is no different from his own hand to him. The fight is unbalanced. It is this thought that accompanies Sakumo as he strikes at a shinobi who set fire to a half-dozen fields yesterday, belonging to civilians and samurai alike.
His opponent cannot block him. He can feel it slipping between the plates of the other man’s armour. He knows where it will land.
His tantō stops right before it makes contact with his opponent’s heart.
Kaguya’s eyes are closed, but her fingers are gripping the edge of Sakumo’s weapon as if it were one of his wooden dummy swords. Her fingers dig into the neck of the shinobi, stealing his breath. Sakumo’s own breath stops.
“There will be no more fighting,” Kaguya says and opens all three of her eyes.
A flash of light blinds Sakumo temporarily, and he finds his head crashing into the dirt as the earth beneath them moves, more suddenly than he ever thought possible. Though his eyes are squeezed shut, he is certain that debris has filled the air, and he is once again grateful for his mask.
When the world stops again, Sakumo feels a hand brushing dust off his face. “I have solved it,” he hears, in that familiar lilting voice.
It becomes clear as Sakumo blinks and sits up, that the solution before him is the mountain range that has arisen in the middle of what was flatlands moments ago. In the height of summer, they are capped with snow and extend as far as his eyes can see. In fact, he would wager it borders his whole village. The shinobi is nowhere in sight.
“Thank you,” Sakumo says, finally looking back at Kaguya. “But there may still be battles to come.”
Kaguya moves suddenly, and for a moment he expects her to crouch down. Instead, he finds himself being floated upwards by an invisible force so that they are at eye level. “You do not want to fight,” she notes.
The smile on Kaguya’s face flips his stomach in time with the hovering of his body. Sakumo nods. She leans forward and holds his face in her hands. “Then we are the same. I am glad.”
--
They see each other more frequently from then on.
Though Kaguya’s actions have done enough to protect their village from immediate threats, ninshū has always meant more to Sakumo and his comrades than mere combat. So he trains himself, growing stronger and faster to make his naturally low reserves of energy more efficient in their use.
But this time, Kaguya stays and watches. More than that, she shares her techniques with him. He learns from watching her move that he could never hope to match her in speed or strength, even when he suspects she’s using a mere fraction of her power. However, while too skilled to be a match as a sparring partner, she is an eager teacher. She advises him on how to move beyond changing the shape of his chakra to transform its nature.
She beams at him when he first moulds his chakra into the shape of earth and makes a miniature version of her snow-covered mountains. She laughs when he tries to light a candle and blows off his left eyebrow. He kisses her the first time he uses chakra to close his own wound.
He is not bold enough to presume that it is him alone keeping her here, but regardless, he is grateful. He is thankful for the days they spend running him ragged on his fields, and for the days they spend laying underneath the shade of a tree, watching her converse with the nearby rabbits.
Today, Kaguya’s usual leporine conversation seems to have turned into a quarrel. Kaguya and the white-and-brown rabbit glower at each other for a few minutes before Sakumo asks, “What’s the matter?”
“She coddles her kit,” Kaguya says disapprovingly. Before Sakumo can ask what she means, the rabbit freezes abruptly, and a ball of fur with shining red eyes pops out from beneath the creature. “He is old enough to live on his own.”
“Maybe he’s helping her by staying nearby,” Sakumo suggests. “Sometimes it can be difficult for parents to let go.”
Kaguya flops down onto the grass beside him, and the mother rabbit relaxes and mimics her, staring at them with what Sakumo can only imagine is a haughty expression among rabbits. “Parents must ensure their offspring are strong enough to survive.”
“Do you want to have a child?” Sakumo asks thoughtfully. Unbidden, he sees himself chasing a child with his hair and Kaguya’s eyes around these fields. He imagines himself teaching them to hold a sword, and her teaching them to tap into their chakra.
Lost in those thoughts as he is, Kaguya’s clear voice startles him in her reply. “I had two.” She pauses as if reconsidering. “Three. One is me.”
“Three... children?” Sakumo repeats.
Kaguya purses her lips, and her third eye narrows. He knows by now that this expression means she is translating what he’s said into a language more familiar to her than the one they share. After a moment, her face relaxes and she replies, “They are adults.”
Sakumo has always had the sense that Kaguya is a little older than him. Though his eyes have more lines around them than hers do, and his hair is more gray than her silver, that is less a product of age than being his father’s son. Kaguya, for all that she looks unmarked by the passage of time, speaks as though she’s lived through more battles than anyone in his lifetime. By now, he has learned her clan name, Ōtsutsuki, and knows that history books claim that the name has died out. He decides it doesn’t matter.
“I’d like to meet them someday,” Sakumo says, taking hold of her hand. “Have you ever married?”
Kaguya sits up and covers his hands with her own. Her fingers are warm and gentle, but when she speaks, her tone is stern. “Explain,” she demands.
With a sheepish chuckle, Sakumo turns his palm over and strokes Kaguya’s hand soothingly. Certainly, there is no blame to be laid for the frustration. He has been struggling just as much with shinobi techniques as she has been with the customs of samurai. “Well, usually marriage involves two individuals promising to live together permanently. Sometimes it’s recorded in writing as well.”
Sanguinely, Kaguya observes, “You are married to your summons.”
“No, no!” Sakumo says, dropping their interlocked hands to wave his own fervently. In protest, one strand of Kaguya’s hair reaches towards him and tugs Sakumo’s neck so that they are closer together, and places his hand on her cheek. He laughs, settling his fingers at her jaw. “Different kind of contract. I’ve never been married. It’s... building a future with someone. I’ve always hoped if I married someone, we’d be together for a long time.”
Kaguya’s grip on his wrist and neck grows looser, and soon she is close enough that they are nose-to-nose. “We will marry,” declares Kaguya plainly.
“Oh!” Sakumo’s heart stutters in his chest, which is unsurprising given how much blood is flooding his cheeks. “Yes, I’d like that.”
Her white eyes constrict in a way that he knows means she is looking behind him. Enthusiastically, she adds, “We will make a child.”
Sakumo clears his throat. “I haven’t—Well, I know—Ah...”
Kaguya smiles widely. “I will show you.”
--
As it turns out, Kaguya’s definition of a child is a bit different than Sakumo’s.
Notwithstanding the variations in how exactly children are brought into the world in his knowledge versus Kaguya’s revelations—the butterfly and worm are certainly a surprise, but he supposes the birds and bees have been mentioned—the form the child takes, a shining purple egg that Kaguya ties into a sling for him to carry, is also a new discovery.
“The baby,” Kaguya explains that first day, tapping the shell fondly.
Like Kaguya’s earlier visits, Sakumo suspects that the baby will follow their own schedule, so the egg is his constant companion for the months that follow. It sits with him in the kitchen as he cooks. It lays against his chest as he reads. It rolls behind him in his fields and scares off the birds that approach his crops, and earns the egg the nickname, “Kakashi.”
Although Kaguya is never gone for more than a day at a time during these months, Sakumo can see the changes in his wife’s face whenever she steps away from their home. Each time she appears from beyond the mountain, her face grows more weary. Time etches itself into her expression. Still, her tenderness towards Sakumo and Kakashi does not diminish.
It is why there is not a shred of doubt in his Sakumo’s heart when Kaguya returns home one night doing something he’s never seen her do previously: Running on foot.
He rises from the engawa, making sure Kakashi is strapped securely to his body before he rushes across the grass, barefoot, to meet Kaguya halfway. “What happened?” he asks, pulling her into his arms.
“I put them all to sleep,” Kaguya tells him, pressing closer. “And now they will put me to sleep.”
“Why?” Sakumo asks. Even he is not sure what he is asking.
Her grip on the two of them grows stronger. “The nursery will not hold without my help. When I am done, I can restore peace.”
As if in response to these words, the egg pips and five of the tiniest fingers Sakumo has ever seen reach out over the sling to grab onto a lock of Kaguya’s hair. “I don’t think the baby’s ready for you to leave.”
“No one can stay,” Kaguya says, placing her hand over Kakashi’s. She leans down to press her lips to those fingers and then disentangles them. “You and Kakashi will go too.”
“Where?” he asks.
“When,” she corrects, and splits the world open.
Kaguya’s third eye is wide and glassy, and when he follows her line of sight, Sakumo does not see the fields in front of his home, but instead a heavily forested area, with carved stone faces in the distance. He has never known so many buildings to be so close together, let alone in the shapes and sizes of these. A new bright, shining sphere lights up the sky so that the stars pale in comparison. Kaguya has cut the fabric of the air into something entirely new.
“We will see each other again,” Kaguya promises, pushing him forward.
When Sakumo wakes up, he has a child in his arms and the moon smiling down upon him.

Naruto Rewrite:
Disclaimer this is my opinion NOT fact. I’m just throwing out ideas that I’ve been thinking about for a while. Naruto and Naruto Shippuden belongs to Masashi Kishimoto
With Kaguya and the twins “gone” the tail beast separated on different areas for guarding purposes
The tail beast were seen as angels sent from heaven for some, while to others they’re demons sent from hell.
Hashirama didn’t capture the tailed beast, but the villages themselves went out of their way to capture them. Each tail beast went to a major village and was used as a statues symbol and protection
Sadly the damage was done as Kaguya was seen as god. Her being sealed lead to two groups forming, those who believe in her and those who didn’t
This view points had started so many beefs that everyone where wearing against eachother
Skip forward and we get to Hashirama and Madara, the reincarnations were two villages that had Kaguya in a different view there village kept beefing and dying for the longest time
Eventually Hashirama’s village captured the nine tails and caused a peace since Madara’s village believed if they didn’t they would sick the 9 tails on them
During the first Great War Madara by chance found Kaguya old god tree and by extension black Zetsu
Sensing him Kaguya used her spirit and told him if he could release her, he could be king of the world. She need him locate her ten tails to gather all legendary tail beast and bring her back to life
the tree then made him a special fruit which he ate giving him the mangekyo sharingan temporarily since they need to scale the sharingan back like 50 feet
Since the villages came together many people wanted peace while others wanted to rage. Madara took the raging side with him and the rest stayed with Hashirama as refugees (Breaking up the Uchihas gives help us later)
This gives Hashirama an idea and he begins to bring in many villages to make todays Land Hidden in the Trees since they were strong separate but stronger together
Madara begins going to wars with his little military group and helps destroy people while also keeping a look out for the ten tailed beast statue
Many villages either left the tailed beast with no host or creating the first Jinchuriki to be used as status symbols and to keep them safe
Uzumaki’s were nearly wipped out, but instead it caused refugees. They got killed but a few hundred still remained and left to go live in the Land of waves and Land of Sound mostly but still you got some Trail Blazers
Eventually Madara found the ten tails husk and reported back to Kaguya. She in turn began her revenge and told him to bring her ten rings
Each ring once completed gave the wearer a special power up for their chakra or element of choice (deidara’s extra mouths, Kisame fish, Konan paper trick, etc.) the rings amplified they’re already given powers
We then introduce black and white Zetsu as “ying and yang” given by the tree to help build an army ( introducing the white Tetsu army early on might be interesting, foot soldiers if you will)
Hashirama cells need to be nerfed, they can’t explain everything. I’m sorry but he was a crutch to explain everything. Wood release should be normal in some shape or form, but hard to learn and master. (Almost like the reincarnated brother has some kind of special wood lease hint hint nudge nudge)

@mirroredranger (from ask):
Valerie gives the stranger a startled look. She blinks twice, trying to hold up her facade despite being called out. "Um, yeah?" From his ball in her bag, her ghosty zorua, Noe came out. He went to Kaguya to give her a sniff. He wanted to make this stranger was okay around his ranger. He let out a yip, confirming the stranger was fine, moving back to sit next to Valerie's feet. "Ah, sorry about him. Noe is wary about strangers."
"It's fine. I wouldn't begrudge him for being a bit protective." Certainly not after what Valerie must have experienced. Much as Kaguya would like to be gentle about this... Well, being as blunt as possible was going to be in Valerie's best interest.
"I'm going to be straightforward with you. Whatever you did while in the spirit world, you made a mistake. It wants you back." She crosses her arms, tone even and measured. Now is not a time for conversation. "You need to come to the shrine immediately and have a cleansing ritual performed."

Ok okie okay OK..... MANY questions for you if that's alright, because I've recently seen your blog and your view of Rin as a character is very intriguing to me. It reminds me of the depth tora-the-cat here on Tumblr gives to Sakura, and I mean that as a high compliment! So without further ado: 1. Do you have any idea what caused this gaping void in Rin and whether she was born that way or made? 2. How much of everything about her is artificial? Does she kinda view herself in the sense that she's like a character in a book-- that she always has an ever-present audience viewing her, even when alone ala Margaret Atwood, except instead of the voyeuristic gaze of a man in a woman viewing herself, it's the voyeuristic gaze of humankind in one she watches instead? 3. Why does she try so hard to play a person when so much of it seems like drudgery to her? Is it out of a fear of consequences, because it's a game everyone plays but she wants 1st place, or is it just that she has nothing better to do/no strong whims to propel her in a solid direction? 4. Do you think she and Kabuto, (my personal blorbo), would study each other like bacteria in a petri dish or repel each other like magnets, had they known the other existed? (They seem to have A LOT of similarities but their cores feel very different to me...) 5. Why does she get so angry when people remember her? Is it that she's remembered incorrectly or the idea she's remembered at all that upsets her? If it's the former, does she hope someone can see through her facade and find the "real" Rin? 6. What's her philosophy on life? 7. Does she have opinions on both White Zetsu(s)/Black Zetsu and vice versa? If yes, what are they? Depending on the AU Kaguya would likely keep both groups around the same time she keeps Rin, so what in god's name is going on there???? 8. Do Kaguya and Rin keep Toneri as a pet?
And I've got more but this thing's long enough so I'll save those for later; thank you for your time! :>
kicking my feet twirling my hair ect ect. oh anon i am SO glad you asked
1- rin's apathy is made of a lot of different things mixing together. some of it is innate; she genuinely doesn't care about a lot of things that most people would. she doesn't get the same fulfillment out of doing things that most people do. however, in a world where she wasn't forced to be child soldier, she probably wouldn't have fallen into quite as extreme a mindset. a lot of the apathy is a (bad) coping mechanism that builds on traits she is already predisposed to. so... both, i guess? rin is already kind of apathetic and empty, and then work as a ninja causes her to use the apathy as a shield.
2- rin doesn't really see herself as a character, per say- it's more that she views the *facade* she puts up as a character. "rin" as everyone else sees her is an artificial construction that rin is able to control, which is really important to her. she doesnt view herself as a character, but she does view the persona she puts up as a character, if that makes sense. she puts a distance between herself and the people she's acting for.
in regards to the sincerity of her actions; well, rin kind of thinks that if she chooses to do something, that negates the intent behind it. which... is arguable, to an extent, but also ultimately untrue. when he's teaching his own team 7, kakashi hides behind a mask of a lazy troll- but he also *is* a lazy troll. the fact that he's using those traits to divert attention away from other traits doesn't negate the honesty of them. to rin, though, even if she *would* do some of the things she does if she wasn't playing the role of "rin", the fact that she is choosing to do them to project a specific image invalidates them. there's a lot of things that she does that she doesn't mean at all, too, but to rin those aren't any different to the things she only sort of means. lmao. there is something so wrong with her <3
3- the facade started as a way to avoid judgement, yeah. rin's mannerisms when she's not masking are unnerving to a lot of people. as time went by, though, she got Weirder about it and started keeping up the persona because she doesn't know who she is without it, and is terrified that she doesn't know. this creates a really weird mindset where rin ends up stuck playing her facade because she's scared of putting it down, but also she hates it and wants an excuse to drop it, but also she hates everyone around her and doesn't want them to figure out that she's been deceiving them, but also she's mad that they're falling for her persona. truly she contains multitudes
4- never considered it before but. oh god. bro. you are on to something. im hardly a kabuto expert, but from what i understand, he is also a big 'putting on masks' person so. 👀 . i think that kabuto has a lot more internal drive than rin, and even if he hasn't exactly ironed out every kink in his plan, he knows that he wants SOMETHING!!! honestly now that you've brought it up i can't stop thinking about the parallels... kabuto disregarding the fact that he isn't sure exactly what he wants and focusing on acting because there is SOMETHING that he wants, and he can't have it unless he acts vs rin hyper-focusing on the fact that she isn't perfectly sure what exactly it is that she wants and letting her masks drag her down. autism to autism communication.
5- 👉👈 if i said "a little bit of both its kind of complicated" again would you be mad lol
so, yeah, the idea of people remembering her facade instead of her is absolutely sickening to her. rin really, really, really wants to be known, but she can't *let* people know her until she knows herself, and also she would rather die than take of her mask. people remembering her persona instead of her is basically proof that she failed, that she never understood who she was, and was therefore never able to share that understanding with others. yes that's what happened in canon lmao.
HOWEVER. even if someone did come around and understand rin beyond the mask she puts on, rin wouldn't want to be remembered after she dies. to rin, grief is... unnecessary? like, when faced with a problem, rin likes to Fix It. if there's no solution, or if the solution is more effort than it's really worth, she will simply choose to stop caring (oh yeah there's that emotional disassociation). anyways, that's a *very* unhealthy mindset to have, and also is the cause of a lot of resentment between rin and people who she might have otherwise come to befriend, even if it is kind of out of a place of care (she doesn't want people to keep hitting a wall they have no way of climbing).
tldr: she doesn't want people to remember her facade because she hates that thang. she doesn't want people to remember *her* because she doesn't want them to be sad when repressing their emotions is an option and its sooo easy too
6- big question,,, honestly, a lot of the way i characterize her revolves around the way she *can't* answer that question. i think that in canon, she never really develops any philosophy towards anything. in aus where she lives longer, i can definitely see her leaning towards a utilitarian viewpoint- being able to recognize that not feeling the "right" emotions behind an action doesn't negate the action would go a long way for her mental health lol.
7- rin doesn't really have strong feelings on either of the zestu. black zestu is... kaguya's will, right? which is not something that makes sense to me at all and it probably never will but you know. you know. i guess she'd probably view him as something similar to one of kaugya's shadow clones? the white zestu are mostly just old, chewed up corpses and if there is one thing about rin to remember it is that she does NOT want to be remembered after she dies. so of course she will be extending this same courtesy to others. they're just tools to her, because thinking of them any other way would be *disrespectful* (she has problems)
8- you know i've never really given much thought to toneri (i had to google him to remember who he was lol). he seems lonely. a bit of a silly little hypocrite which is admittedly a great kind of guy. apparently he shows up in boruto too but i haven't read it so idk if anything changes there. depending on his attitude towards them, i certainly think they could be convinced to let him hang around. if he's nice i think kaguya would treat him like an annoying little cousin more than a grandkid of anything, and if he's rude i think she beats him to death with hammers. i don't think rin would have very strong feelings on him? maybe she'd be a little pissed at the way he idolizes hinata on account of her knee-jerk reaction to anyone (besides her) failing to treat anyone as human and nothing more or less, but in any au where kagurin are just chilling hinata's probably dead lmao so im not sure how that'd affect things.
this got long but its fine aljfghsdajkgkjdkg. thank you so much for the questions, they were actually really compelling!!
#rin nohara#also if you have any other ideas on how she and kabuto would interact you should lmk :3#i dont understand him all that well yet. but i will begin my studies. because of the parallels o7#asks
