Kafka: I caught a lot more than I’d expected. I was thinking it might be a good idea to have it for dinner tonight. 

Nagi: How will you prep all these…?

Kafka: I can leave that up to the pro. Right, Ten?

Ten: Wow~ Totally saw that coming. 

Kafka: I knew I could count on you, being the son of a sushi chef~

Ten: No right to refuse, huh~ Well, it’s not like I mind. 

Nagi: …… 

Nagi: (I thought I could lend a hand, but I’ve never dealt with so many fish at once…)

Nagi: (I don’t have the chops for this… Not to mention, I’d probably just cause more trouble if I butt in. I should just sit this one out.)

Ten: …… 

Nagi: (What a beautiful cutting technique… The fish are being turned into sashimi so fast they probably don't even realize they're being filleted…) 

Kafka: Your handiwork is as impressive as always.

Ten: Well, I am the son of a sushi chef after all~

Kafka: I doubt you’d encounter any problems even if you somehow got washed up on a deserted island, so long as you’re able to catch fish there.

Ten: Ah, well, I guess? But I’d probably get sick of eating so much fish.

Nagi: (I think it’s more than enough if you can eat fish…)

Nagi: (But, a deserted island, huh… I’ve never washed up on one yet, but I can’t say it won’t happen in the future…) 

Nagi: Kafka, please teach me how to fish.

Kafka: Where did that come from?

Nagi: If I learn how to fish, then I won’t have to worry about starving to death on a deserted island, at least.

Nagi: And just like Ten-san said, I might get tired of– Well, not fish, in my case it’d be weeds. But anyways, I’d probably get sick of eating all those weeds, so it’d make a good alternative. Though honestly that’s more of a luxury to consider… 

Ten: That’s what you’re worried about?

Kafka: Ahaha! It’s a bit of a sudden request, but sounds like it could be fun, so sure! I’ll teach you. 

Kafka: I usually fish at Ooguro Hospital's pier, so how about we go there?

Nagi: Yes please. I humbly request your guidance. 

Ten: I’m done filleting them. Whatever comes next is not my problem~

Kafka: Thank you, Ten.

Nagi: And thank you for helping me come to a realization, Ten.

Ten: I don’t really get it, but good luck~

Notes:

The title has a pun hidden in it: 釣りあげたのは童心の想い出 where 童心 (doushin) means childhood/childlike innocence and 同心 (doushin) refers to people who are of the same mind (on a certain topic, etc) which could refer to them enjoying fishing together but also refer to Nagi fishing up a memory of Kafka's, literally.

Kafka: Great weather we’re having, perfect for fishing.

Nagi: Great weather… I hope the atmospheric pressure is alright… 

Kafka: You’re too tense, Nagi. You should enjoy your fishing debut! 

Kafka: Here you go. A fishing rod, hook, and a lure set. I picked ones that are easy for beginners to use. 

Nagi: Thank you.

Kafka: Alright, first and foremost, you need to stand in a way that lets you toss the hook as far as possible, in a straight line… Like so. 

Nagi: Ooh… I see.

Kafka: Now you give it a shot, Nagi.

Nagi: Okay.

Nagi: Like this… Uh?

*Nagi shakes*

Nagi: Kafka, are you holding onto my clothes? Don’t worry. I won’t fall into the ocean… Probably. 

Kafka: Nope, it’s not me. You managed to get the hook stuck on your back.

Kafka: Now, now, don’t worry about it. Let’s just take it easy.

Nagi: Got it. For the sake of my future self who might get stranded on a deserted island, here goes nothing…!

Nagi: Alright. I’ve successfully got it to land in the water, at least. 

Nagi: …Wait, huh? I’m feeling a heavy tug on it already!

Kafka: Already!? It might be a person, let’s reel them in quick!

Nagi: This is… a child’s rubber boots?

Nagi: I should’ve known I’d never actually fish up a fish…

Kafka: That’s…! 

Nagi: Hm?

Kafka: It’s the boots I lost here when I was a kid… 

Kafka: Thank you, Nagi! These are from a precious memory with the Chief that I really treasure.

Nagi: So that’s what it is.

Kafka: These boots were a matching pair with that of the Chief’s, but they flew off my feet while we were kicking around pinecones.

Kafka: This makes me so happy… Thank you, really!

Nagi: I know I said that what I wanted to do wasn’t worth getting help from anyone else, but I went ahead and roped you into it anyways. Sorry about that.

Nagi: But you were the coolest reindeer of them all. The one I drew on the cardboard was no match for you. The kids definitely appreciated it a lot too.

Liguang: I see. I’m glad it worked out, but you better make sure the photos taken back there don’t get spread around.

Nagi: Of course, I’ll get Miss Elisa’s help for that too. I can’t thank you enough for today, truly.

Sonia: I’d like to thank you for your time ash well, Liguang-shan!

Liguang: Kamina prepared a large quantity of gyoza and turkey in his excitement, considering it’s his last break before his next competition.

Chief: Right, he did! You must���ve seen the whole thing huh, Liguang-san…?

Chief: (Wait, why is he wearing a reindeer headband…?)

Liguang: ? What is it?

Chief: Nothing! Just, uh, looking forward to the Christmas party!

Raito: Everyone chipped in to decorate the living room splendidly. Come inside so you can see it yourself. You too, Sonia.

Sonia: I can’t wait!

Liguang: It’s not like we’re children anymore… I’ll head in after parking the car.

Nagi: In other words, I’m gonna be buried under a pile of happiness soon… A danger zone that’ll have my Yajirobe spazz out if I’m not careful… 

Chief: I’m fully prepared to accept as many flowers as you wanna give, so don’t worry too much, Nagi-kun!

Chief: (He really just forgot about it…!?)

Kafka: Huh? You didn’t just put it on because you were excited for the party?

Kafka: I mean, it looks so good on you~♪

Raito: Indeed. I was almost jealous of how prepared you were for tonight.

Yachiyo: I’d like to match with the big boss too! Just where did you get your hands on that?

Liguang: …Shut up.

Daniel: Prolly best to forget about the whole thing, for his sake. 

Chief: (Liguang-san, I’m so sorry I didn’t point it out to you earlier… But… It really did look good on you…!)

Nagi: …Chief. Do you think Santa can make it down the chimney safely?

Chief: Huh?

Chief: (His face is flushed… Looks like Nagi-kun is in drunk-mode again…)

Nagi: The chimneys of yore were always packed full of soot, so Santa was probably in danger all the time, huffing up all those ashes and staining his white beard black.

Nagi: But did you know, the chimneys on a ship aren’t called chimneys at all, they’re actually called funnels. I wonder if they could fly in the sky.

Sonia: N-Nagi-shan is going around and asking everyone what their plans for Chrishtmash Eve are!

Chief: Ahaha… So that’s it. Thank you for clearing that up, Sonia.

Chief: I’ll be going abroad to meet my family this year. I should be back by the 25th.

Chief: What about you, Nagi-kun?

Toi: Oh my…!

Chief: Hm?

Toi: …I read this exact same line recently in Prince Chariot’s route from the game “Maiden’s Lariat on this Holy Night”!!

Toi: Maybe, just maybe, this could lead to a date event…!?

Akuta: A d–d-date…!? You mean like when the rain turns to snow at midnight and the silent holy night is no longer holy!?

Chief: Ahaha, it’s not like that. I’m just curious about what Nagi-kun will be up to since he asked me first.

Chief: You must be busy with work, huh?

Nagi: Of course, I’ll be very busy. Being Santa is serious business.

Nagi: Getting to be Santa sounds like a dream job but in reality it’s not so glamorous and requires a lot of work to pull off. I’ve been meaning to take the qualification exam sometime but did you know that they require you to carry a huge bag filled with presents and run over 50 meters and climb a ladder and slide down the chimney and clean off six cookies and a glass of milk– all under two minutes? If it weren’t for the time limit I would’ve taken the exam already. But the more I wait, the harder it’ll get as I grow older. And, and, there’s even more hurdles. Like swearing an oath only using Ho Ho Ho—  

Sonia: I-I have to ashk! What about everyone elshe’s plans?

Toi: After we close our shops, Ani-sama and I will spend time together and exchange presents! Ohh, I can’t wait to see what he got me~♪

Akuta: I’mma enjoy the holidays right here at HAMA house!! The epic Project C is reaching peak SO!! Gotta recharge while I can!!

Nagi: Hohoho. Hoho. Hoho Hohoho.

Sonia: Nagi-shan, we should go get some fresh air so you can shober up. Now!

Ryui: Toi, you’re fine with 3 sugar cubes for your milk tea, right?

Toi: Yes! Thank you, Ani-sama!

Netaro: Ah! I am fairly certain I mixed in some of my special invention of “Wasabi Cubes that look Identical to Sugar Cubes” in that sugar pot there. 

Ryui: Pfghtt!!

Muneuji: Hm, a tea ceremony. Allow me to participate as a break from my studies.

Nanaki: …..

Nanaki: …*glance*

Chief: Yuki-nii, what did you want to talk about?

Kafka: It better be important enough for you to disturb my cozy tea time with the Chief.

Yukikaze: Indeed. This may lead to a new business opportunity for us. 

Nanaki: (...I wonder what it is…)

Yukikaze: The other day, my father was approached by the president of a cruise liner company for a discussion on reopening the Night Cruise, which had been out of operation for some time now.

Chief: A Night Cruise…! We do have a special tourist zone that’s facing the sea after all, it’d be great if we could make cruises more popular too!

Yukikaze: I thought that perhaps there was something we could do to help after hearing this from my father. Would it be difficult?

Kafka: Difficult? Who do you think you’re talking to? If we receive an official offer, HAMA Tours will promise to deliver. 

Yukikaze: Thank you. I’ll let him know.

Chief: It’s rare that we get a chance to help out on a cruise. Yuki-nii, did you get to hear any specifics about the discussion from Uncle?

Nanaki: (Chief’s eyes are sparkling…)

Yukikaze: The liner itself is ready to go, but since it hasn’t been in operation for a long time, they’re looking for advice on what they could offer as onboard services. 

Chief: I see… Then how about we have a soft opening with the members of HAMA Tours as guests?

Kafka: Good idea~♪ We can offer consulting after seeing how the soft opening goes.

Chief: Right, Yuki-nii, could you ask Liguang-san for his opinion as well? We could use the cruising sector from ward 4 as a reference. 

Yukikaze: Alright. Liguang himself probably won’t attend the soft opening, seeing as he’s been busy lately.

Nanaki: (Their conversation is progressing so smoothly… Kamina-san and Ooguro-san both know the Chief from childhood, huh…) 

Yukikaze: I’m excited to go on a cruise and see the night view of HAMA with you… 

Kafka: No one asked. 

Chief: We can discuss the specifics later in a meeting… Is there anyone here who’d be interested in participating? 

Muneuji: I would like to participate to broaden my horizons. It would also be beneficial if the swaying of the boat would help strengthen my core.

Chief: Um, I’m not sure about that… I’ve heard that they use AI to control large cruise ships such as these, so there shouldn’t be much swaying.

Sonia: Nagi-shan’s Mission Shanta must have begun by now— 

Location: HAMA House - Meeting Room

Nagi: First, I’d like to thank everyone gathered here, on the night of Christmas Eve, which most people would be spending with a special someone.

Nagi: You are now honored Santas of HAMA Tours, handpicked after careful screening by Liguang-san and yours truly.

Tao: S-Sure…

Tao: No, hold up, what’s with this line-up…?

Liguang: The selection criteria was, first, those who don’t believe in Santa. And more importantly, those who didn’t have any plans, or answered that they would be spending Christmas Eve “as usual.”

Tao: Th-That’s kinda sad…

Raito: I may not have kids, but I’m happy for the chance to act like a father.

Nagi: Right, leaving a present under someone’s pillow is very family-like…!

Raito: Yes, it is!

Liguang: Did you get all that, Domeki?

Tao: (…Man, I think Kuguri-san’s the type to scoff at stuff like this, are we sure about him being here?)

Kuguri: …Fufu… Kukuku…

Liguang & Nagi & Raito: ?

Tao: (Ugh, that’s what I thought…)

Kuguri: Santa Claus… Me? Kuku, what a joke. Hahaha…!

Tao: (H-He’s acting like this tickled his funny bone… Maybe it’ll be fine if he gets a kick out of this?)

Nagi: The presents have to be delivered over a large area. That’s why we’ll split the delivery job amongst us.

Liguang: We’ll split into three groups. Since Hachinoya and I are also in charge of directing this process, we’ll remain at HAMA House. Domeki, you and Kita–

Kuguri: You must be joking. One of my lambs can play reindeer just fine. I’ll go alone.

Liguang: …Hachinoya made these presents himself.

Nagi: Yeah. Maybe you find it gross but I put my heart and soul into making each and every one of them.

Kuguri: Well, that’s not very nice. Do you think I’d simply throw them into the ocean and claim that I handed them out instead?

Nagi: Huh, really? I guess it can’t be helped… Oh but, I’d be worried about polluting the ocean so at least throw it away in a flammable garbage bag… 

Liguang: What he means to say is that you need to handle the goods carefully… Kinouchi, you’ll go with Domeki.

Tao: U-Uhhh…

Kuguri: A holy night with maci, hm~♪ Make sure to keep your eyes on me so I don’t turn into a Black Santa.

Tao: (Yeesh, this mission’s gotten a lot harder all of a sudden…)

Raito: Haha, this is getting exciting! How about we all assign code names to make this feel even more like a mission? For when we speak on the walkie-talkies.

Liguang: I don’t mind. I’ll leave the naming up to Hachinoya.

Nagi: …I’ve arrived at the Tiger room.

Liguang: “I had confirmed Ooguro and that fool had gone to sleep two hours ago. I believe they should be in a state of deep sleep, but be careful not to make a sound regardless.”

Nagi: Roger.

Renga: Mmm… So pretty… Just look at those… golden shuumai… 

Kafka: ……

Nagi: ……

Nagi: …Successfully left the presents besides their pillows.

Nagi: (So this is what it feels like to leave presents for your family while they’re fast asleep… Even if some European power barged in right now and performed a 100 lariats on me or held me in a Scorpion Deathlock, I could probably deflect it all with a smile.)

Nagi: Oh, this is bad. My emergency happiness handler is away and yet I can’t help but feel the happiness overflow right now. 

Liguang: “What’s wrong?”

Nagi: I’ll head to the Monkey room right away.

Liguang: “Understood.”

Kafka: Good luck.

Nagi: …Must’ve imagined it.

Liguang: “Team Ginger, how is it going on your end?”

Raito: No problems here!

Raito: The floats for the Christmas parade are in perfect condition. I suppose in Chihiro’s terms, this would be “Flashy-Cute to the MAX Hypetown!” 

Raito: Right now, I’m lighting up Christmas Eve with the colors of the rainbow.

Passerby couple (the man): Woah, what’s this! Wonderful… Midnight… Parade…? I don’t really get it, but it’s so shiny!

Passerby couple (the woman): There’s mobile illuminations! I’ve got to take a pic! Now where did I put my phone…

Raito: The roads are clear since it’s so late, so it’s going smoothly. I’ll probably make it to Chihiro's house in no time.

Liguang: Try not to stand out too much.

Raito: Haha, I know.

Raito: I’ll head for Yodaka-san’s shop once I’m done with Chihiro. I’ll contact you then–

Liguang: “Hachinoya. What’s wrong?”

Kinari: Hachinoya-sama. It is currently 2:21 AM. What are you doing here at this hour?

Nagi: I-I came to borrow one of Raito-san’s bowls… 

Kinari: …If that is all you’re looking for, it is over there.

Tao: …We went to a hotel in Tokyo to give Kamina-san his gift, but for some reason we came back with a whole bunch of souvenirs.

Kuguri: He served us tea and sweets at our arrival, and handed scarves and gloves as we left… Along with heat packs, socks and rice balls to bring back.

Kuguri: Even more gifts may be coming Nagi’s way after the tournament, don’t you think?

Tao: Well, we delivered the gift with no problems, so we’re all good…

Tao: What do we do about Murakumo-san?

Tao: He told Hachinoya-san he’ll be partying all night with his college friends at his parents’ sushi restaurant, but that turned out to be a lie.

Kuguri: I was satisfied just seeing your face the moment we saw the sushi restaurant was dark and empty.

Kuguri: With that said, I suppose we can head back now.

Tao: Nope, we can’t.

Tao: *sigh*... Isn’t it gonna be, like, impossible to find Murakumo-san on Christmas Eve of all days when we’ve got no idea where he is…?

Kuguri: …Good grief. You leave me no choice.
