Aw, thank you so much for sending me this! <3 I've written a lot of fics, but my favorites have definitely changed over time... some I still adore, some I have a hard time looking at for a variety of reasons. These are in no particular order, but I'm especially fond of:

Calcium Carbonate, and Other Things That Run Bone Deep - Genshin Impact, Kaeya/Albedo, Rated M for Gore

Fondly nicknamed "vivisection makeouts fic" while I was writing it, this one was a very gratuitous "Albedo's (in)humanity clashes with Kaeya's desire to save Mondstadt" meet-ugly fic that I still really enjoy as a way that I got to wring both of their brains out like sponges. I was a little nervous when posting it due to the, y'know, vivisection makeouts, but it was received with overwhelming positivity that still makes me happy to think about.

How To Lose 800 Years of Cultivation - Heaven Official's Blessing, Feng Xin/Mu Qing, Rated E for Sexual Content

At one point I discovered how good of a method intimacy is for digging around in characters' brains, and this is the fic where I truly went ham with that. Like, there's a lot of sex in this fic, but there's also a lot of picking apart Mu Qing's issues with intimacy and sexuality, class inequality, and his perception of Feng Xin, who has his own shit to deal with but still fields it all like a champ. I've reread this like five times after publishing it and will definitely reread it again.

Dish Duty - Avatar: the Last Airbender, Zuko & Katara, Rated G

This is constantly threatening The Sword of Damocles is Swinging for being my most popular SFW fic (it has fewer hits but more kudos), and I like it because I think I did a really good job with capturing the canon tone of ATLA, as well as digging into the parts of Zuko's character that I was interested in excavating in it. Plus it had a fun little plot and adventure! It just turned into a really nice, self-contained fic that did everything I wanted it to.

Meng Yao's Guide to Sex and Love - MDZS, Lan Xichen/Meng Yao, Rated E for Sexual Content

I literally just finished writing this so obviously it's fresh in my mind, and I do actually have some things I find unsatisfying about it (the chapter arrangement, mostly), but I REALLY loved writing Meng Yao's modern AU version bag of cats brain and using this fic to learn more about both his and LXC's characterizations. Also, I just really like packing in canon-parallel worldbuilding into modern AUs for xianxia danmei series, and writing JGY & WWX friendship in general. Plainly, this was fun to write. My only #ragret is that now I'm really sick of writing cis smut and want to write trans!Meng Yao.

Smolder - Genshin Impact, Zhongli/Xiao, rated E for Sexual Content

I loved this when I wrote it, but now it's been forever since I've reread it and it's one of my favorites not so much for the fic itself but for how ridiculously popular it got. Very legitimately, I was wary of writing this ship at all in a way that was explicitly Not The Healthiest, and furthermore did not expect fandom to be so positive about trans characters (especially in smut). So it's just pleasing and also hilarious to me that my self-indulgent power imbalance smut ended up

And, as an aside: I think that a lot of my favorite fics have ended up comfortably in that 20-30k word range, which is interesting. I don't really write novel-length fics anymore (and only really did so one time, though it got very popular), and I think it's partly because I really just like to concentrate on the bits I'm interested in and write around everything else, letting people fill in the blanks based on what characters think and say.

Honorable mentions:

Both of the Xue Yang fics for having pretty few hits but extremely enthusiastic comments because the SXX community is baller like that.

The Beast of Pont Vanis, the only Witcher fic I've ever written, based on a song I've enjoyed and wanted to make a story out of since literally high school.

The Shinsou's Bad Days series, may I one day have the motivation to finish you.

The fic where I buried Albedo in an avalanche and let people do the math for how many days he was stuck there based on how many heartbeats he counted and how panic-tachycardic he was.

true story: almost a decade ago (9 years now, if I remember correctly, which, wow) I got into KHR. almost exactly at the same time I had discovered writers sometimes had blogs where they shared wips or story ideas

@kyogre-blue was writing khr fic back then and posted some really interesting ideas for khr fics and said we, the general fic-enjoying public, could write them out if we wanted to

so i did and that's how i got into writing fic lmao

1. What fic of yours would you recommend to someone who had never read any of your work? (In other words, what do you think is the best introduction to your fics?)

OH BOY HMMM.... i think my general fic style tends to lean toward character study with ship undertones? so for recent works, where the tear stain dries (blue lock) would be probs a good primer. (for reference as to how frequently i approach this way, similar vein works for different fandoms would be: coffee is fine (danganronpa), promise me you will keep your eyes closed (bnha), all the ghosts (rwby), and the modern domestic obikin two-fic series (star wars))

14. Are there any tropes you would only read if written by a trusted friend or writer?

pretty much any angst or MCD, as i tend to avoid super sad/tragic fics, so it would take a friend writing it or a trusted author to get me to willingly break my own heart like that LMAO

49. What are you currently working on? Share a few lines if you’re up for it!

I HAVE AN ABSURD NUMBER OF WIPS RN because for some reason bllk has me writing more than almost any fandom since i was in high school istg. i'd say my biggest focus is the pacific rim au, which is, in its endgame, an isagi/kurona fic, but starts with ryusae (+ shidou&kurona friendship), hiorin, and has past bachisagi (...it's a pacrim au. you can guess maybe why they're past tense. sorry, bachira) i just recently finished piecing together the ryusae part, so have some lines from that >:3

"I already have a copilot," Sae tells Loki, barely even sweating from his sparring match against Rin. "Shidou and I work perfectly well together. There's no point in doing this." "Wait," Rin pleads. Ryuu almost wants to stick his tongue out at him; Sae chose him. Sae chose him! "I'm not risking my life on a rookie entering the field," Sae says with finality, barely even glancing back. "Find someone else to drift with. I don't need you."

A fanbinding of this hilarious & heartwarming Blue Lock Mall AU: thanks again to kae-karo for agreeing to let me make this! After I'd finished, I took my copy to an Auntie Anne's to mark the occasion 🥨 only recently learned that she sells pretzels across the Atlantic!

The bind includes an illustration of Hot Topic Employee Rin by nanabee ✨

This was my first time making two copies of a fic, and I ended up refining the typeset and design elements midway. The bindings are siblings rather than twins as a result, but I'm very pleased with them both. Went for a Hot Topic/2000s grunge vibe.

The cover title is a collage of lettering from the stores that the characters work at in the fic + a few others that would be familiar to American mall goers. I used printable vinyl sticker paper for the author copy, covered it with transparent film then layered metallic red HTV on top.

The personal copy has regular sticker paper for the title while the HTV is unbacked. It's hard to read on the stripy bookcloth, hence the adjustment.

This is the most thought I've put into a typeset so far. The chapters have unique character POV headings based on their employer's branding or their personal vibes (e.g. since Kaiser makes me think "expensive & European", he has a Chanel-inspired POV font). The fonts have their own credit section at the end.

Technical details:

A5 binding with rounded spine.

13 signatures of 8 sheets, for an overall page count of 416.

Glitter card stock endpaper for the author copy, regular cardstock for the personal copy.

Handsewn headbands with a ribbon bookmark.

Homemade bookcloth (heat 'n' bond method) made from a fat quarter for emo/Beetlejuice flair.

Edge painted with red metallic gouache. This stained the interior in places but, y'know, 𝖆𝖊𝖘𝖙𝖍𝖊𝖙𝖎𝖈.

One final difference between the two copies is that the author copy benefitted from the arrival of my 20-sheet guillotine. While not perfect, the edges look much more even on the author copy. This will be my main method of edge trimming going forward.

3) What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)

unfortunate for my blue lock besties, but it's a naruto fic lmao. I really enjoyed writing quartz arenite, which is one of my only serious fics. It's a Gaara character study with some background world-building I feel like the show doesn't actually give us about Suna. It also has GaaLee, obviously, because it had to.

6) Favorite title you used

oh geez. I'm gonna have to pick two. for naruto, Bombing Sex-Ed because I think it's so silly. for blue lock, propbably Hotel, Motel, Holiday Inn. I mean, c'mon, Pitbull.

12) How many WIPs do you have in your docs for next year?

oh DOUBLE geez, I currently have 25 drafts in my folder for blue lock alone. I'm hoping to have at least one Christmas fic for Loser Gate out before the end of the year hehehe.

18) The character that gave you the most trouble writing this year?

hmmm, probably a tie between Rin and Ness. I really like BachiRin, but their dynamic has been tough for me to write because I feel like Rin is difficult for me to write in character lol. Ness is just OOC, and I have a hard time capturing his, how do you say, crazy-insane Isagi-flavored hate. I just want him to be silly, and the way he simps for kaiser in canon makes me say ness bb girl get off your knees. i write him how i want to (which is correct, i know him better than the author).

19) What's one pairing you want to explore next year?

RAHHHH THIS QUESTION!!!! I really want to dip into Otoya/Karasu/Yukimiya tbh. My roots are haikyuu poly-flavored, and I loooove a throuple. I love their dynamic, and I want to write more Karasu tbfh lol. I also want to write some bachisagi and ness/kurona! I have so many ideas swimming around :)

28) Favorite work you wrote this year?

for naruto, still quartz arenite. super proud of that one <3. For Blue Lock, tbh I really enjoyed writing both Monster Mash and Smash or Pass. smash or pass came to me so fast lol. i loved that chapter, and i knew that i wanted to make it a part of loser gate. i had a blast reading kaisagi authors interpret what they'd do about it in general. big win for kaisagi nation. Monster Mash was super hard to write bc.I suck at world-building, but it was really fun to write and I got to write SaeShidou, which is always a win for me.

currently reading?

Just a bunch of fic as I clear it out of my inbox, honestly! I do need to get back in the habit of reading regular books again as well but the brain doesn't focus like it used to and fanfic is a lower executive dysfunction barrier to jump over since I already know the characters and setting.

2. favorite color?

Purple, my beloved! Also a big fan of blues and greens and anime/JRPG-villain-hair platinum.

3. last song?

Klee's character demo song! I was talking to @bittermachine about marching band stuff and thought about how Klee's character demo song has a very big band feel to it, and would probably make a good song to march to, so I went and listened to it again. Extremely catchy, 10/10, will listen at sporadic intervals again.

4. last movie?

I don't do a lot of movies so it was probably the Way of the Househusband live action movie I watched with a friend a few weeks ago. Show-wise I'm working my way through Buddy Daddies and Chainsaw Man (mostly so I have context for all the AkiAngel on my dash/timeline) with the same friend, one of each per week.

5. sweet/spicy/savory?

sweet sweet sweet sweet sweet! I am a very picky eater in general but if it's sweet I am much more likely to enjoy it.

6. currently working on?

Foul Eggacy 3 but it's been rough going. I've written some of the middle scenes but the opening scene is fighting me hard. (Poor Childe has been ready to lay these eggs for weeks as I slowly open the document and add a few lines every few days.)

I'm still going to try to post it before Baizhu's release, but I can't promise it'll happen because I don't want to compromise on quality. The series is near and dear to my heart and I don't want to shrug and say 'good enough' just because canon Baizhu may contradict things! If he does, then I will at the very least deliver on 3, though I might not write some of the supplementary bonus scenes I'd considered depending on how far off the mark I was.

I wanted to complete the next if in Devour You Whole before I updated so I'd have a good sized buffer, but it's 8k so far and only about halfway done, and finals are not helping me write faster, so... Maybe I'll meet in the middle and ABS update over the weekend, regardless of where I am with Ghoulies at that point.

I also need to work on At The End Of The River. The next few chapters are going to be interesting. >:D

scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave) - would it be Controversial to say Diluc???? bc like. listen i know we just had that event a few months ago and he got a new skin and everything but like. my boy is a standard banner 5* and NO ONE APPRECIATES HIM!!!

glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week) is ABSOLUTELY KUKI SHINOBU!!! i love her so much she's my darling my angel my queen!!! i feel like she's not appreciated as much compared to the big-hitter inazuma characters, compared to the other electro characters, or compared to the other fan-favorite female characters - esp overshadowed by itto BUT THAT'S THE POINT ISN'T IT!!! SHE RUNS THINGS IN THE SHADOWS!!!! U DON'T SEE HER AND YET SHE'S VITAL!!!! seeing her in the background of anything makes it worthwhile to me!!! (...maybe she's my scrimblo bimblo and diluc is the glup shitto here.... LMAO)

february: cold devotion, aka chilly chili, mostly cause i hand-wrote the majority of this during a power outage :)

march: approaching dawn, a soft (and a tiny bit angsty) kaeluc windblume festival getting together fic

april: feet don't touch the ground, soft wholesome xiaoven college au ft some background kaeluc

may: kissaphobic, a canon divergent au and my first chiluc fic, as well as finally fulfilling my desire to name a fic after that song

june: chosen, a zhongchi au about sacrifice and worship. by far my most popular fic and honestly one i'm massively proud of, smutty as hell and very fun to write

runner up: our hearts are heavy burdens we shouldn't have to bear alone, which is one of my favorite pieces i've written - canon divergence chaeya who are still in love with diluc (kaeya) and zhongli (childe) but find comfort and solace in each other (friends with benefits but one of the benefits is therapy)

july: to love (and be loved in return), my royalty kaeluc arranged marriage/fake relationship fic with a boatload of mutual pining and some background (meddling) zhongchi

august: knights of favonius, always so ine-fish-ent, my humorous not-quite-crack merfolk!kaeya canon-divergence kaeluc fic featuring a very fishy kaeya and a very begrudgingly helpful diluc

september: the days are so short, and you are so lovely, the time-traveling childe x (nearly) immortal zhongli fic about love across time. u will cry. i cried. a lot. they're happy tears mostly tho

october: monster mash, the halloween crack-adjacent kaeluc smut fic about some very...interesting halloween costumes

november: perfect stars and broken parts, the chiluc dubcon smut fic that i'm shocked i even wrote, but really adored writing tbh (and have plans to write more of this au)

december: here's our own hands against our hearts, an ongoing chaeyaluc (with heavy chiluc) canon divergent au featuring childe with memory loss, grumpy diluc that just returned from his fatui murder spree, and manipulative (but surprisingly caring) kaeya

make me melt again, a soft, midsummer island kaeluc post-fallout getting back together piece

a shattered heart of ice, a story about kaeya coping with crepus' death in diluc's absence (and a bit of post-fallout reconciliation)

and when it rains (you get stuck), a little pre&post fallout piece about the rain as well as my excuse to use a country song for a title

not if it's you, a worried kaeya patching up an irritated diluc after a night out as the darknight hero

something just like this, a very wholesome pre-wedding kaeluc conversation

nocturnal serenade, vampire diluc x vampire hunter kaeya with smut and a spicy little twist

tiny, quiet hours of the night, soft established kaeluc where diluc helps kaeya deal with his nightmares

reviens-moi, a near-death experience for kaeya leaves diluc admitting...something that kaeya doesn't believe. ft. some angst but they figure it out eventually

fated to be doomed together, my demon!kaeya x witch!diluc modern magic au that deserves the world. soft bois who deeply care about each other

this means war, a lighthearted 'competition' in canon-divergent au with the premise of 'unrequited rivalry'

i think that i'm learning to hope (oh no), a fluffy little past and present reconciliation fic centered around the snow

zhongchi/chili:

Lovesick Fool which deserves my attention again...a modern teyvat au with professor tartaglia and professor zhongli :)

i'm all yours, pure 21k of smut with some mild angst to set the mood, a canon-divergence fic with dragon!zhongli and some quality time in the serenetea pot

xiaoven:

fragile soul, a soft canon-divergence piece about xiao meeting venti (again)

college au 2: electric boogaloo, a fun little piece with xiaoven meeting at a college party

do i look like a cat to you? wherein xiao becomes a catboy

chiluc:

watch me as the ashes fall, aka it's diluc's birthday and he wants to forget (and wants childe's help)

zhongluc:

unrequested interference, which barely counts as zhongluc because it's only vaguely hinted at the end lmao

i know a place, the (true) beginning of my descent into zhongluc hell, which is actually a lovely place. canon divergence lantern rite soft getting together content

lay down your weapon, a fun fake-relationship start to the contrast between zhongli and a fatui-murder-spree diluc

love in real time, my 'ayato=tomo' theory melded with ayatomo x kazuha x thoma story about the time since ayato ('tomo') nearly died at the hands of the raiden shogun

kings and gods and nonbelievers, the evil crepus fic (it would eventually have kaeluc but i haven't gotten there yet lmao)

human enough, an albedo x imposter albedo (or platonic tbh) story about what happened during the shadows amidst snowstorms event

bnha fics, cause i did post a few of those this year!

part 2 of into the dark, a bakudeku afterlife fic

make it spicy, a multiship combo of todobaku, dabihawks, and shiggynatsu based in a bakery that moonlights as a nightclub

the final chapters of awaken, part 3 of the king of disaster series, a fantasy + war au with a heavy emphasis on dabihawks, followed shortly by todobaku, shinkami, and a hint of kirideku

three additional one-shots set in the king of disaster universe: slow grenade and more than that which tell todobaku's stories pre and post main story as well as finding mellix, izuku's story about...finding mellix lmao
