The city was unlike anything that Joshua had ever seen before, but that was par for the course when it came to traveling with Sora. The brunet went to places that he could have never even imagined, traveling through space and to the stars, and after awhile it just became easier to accept things as they went instead of trying rationalize every experience.

What was different this time, though, was that he was Joshua and not the Phoenix.

He wasn't with Sora all the time. At least, not before this City (and not before Origin, but Joshua refused to dwell much on that). Before it had only been in brief snippets of time that always seemed to be in the heat of battle, in moments that felt like surreal glimpses of another's dreams, but he didn't mind that. It had always been a pleasant break from the realities of his day to day life.

This City was different. For one, Joshua found he couldn't actually find Sora. For another, no one else here seemed able to see him. He also looked different, dressed in a pair of dark pants with black... shoes? along with a dark-red long-sleeved shirt with another black shirt atop of that (he had questioned why he seemed to be wearing so many layers, but accepted it without too much concern). None of the vials or weaponry he had carried on his person before was with him, but he had found a strange rectangular object in his pocket.

The first while had been spent confirming that yes, no one could actually see him (but they could bump into him, and always seemed confused by that). The Phoenix huffed after that, and finally turned his attention to the object. Tapping the screen had it suddenly lighting up, and he squinted blue eyes as he tried to make out what was written. It was in a language he had never seen before and it made his vision swim and his head hurt, but after a moment everything seemed to just... click into place.

He blinked and tapped again. Joshua didn't understand what a list of contacts was (not in this context), but he recognized the lone name listed there. Sora.

A tap. The letters on the screen seemed to swim again and he grimaced, blinking his eyes tightly shut before opening to stare.

Letters... and he could... write by tapping on them?

It took far longer than it should have to get out a simple message.

Where are you?

Joshua wasn't sure if that was really the most appropriate thing to say; after all, it wasn't like they had ever spoken while Joshua was in this form. But what else what he to do?

Assuming that this things would even send messages in the first place.

He tapped the arrow and the message blipped away before reappearing higher on the screen. Joshua stared for a moment before shaking his head.

"I'm sorry, Sora. If it wasn't for me, you probably never would have got caught up in all of this."

Sora had grown into a capable keyblade wielder, and Ventus had had a front row seat. He was proud of him, but at the same time, he felt like he'd robbed him of a normal childhood. If their hearts had never connected...if Sora's light hadn't reached out to save him...

But maybe that wouldn't have made any difference. Destiny was a powerful force, after all.

"We should have finished things back then. The burden shouldn't have fallen to you and your friends."

The lady tended to her garden in the front yard, lightly humming away. A watering can in hand, she passed though her flower beds, giving each one some much needed water in this weather.

It wasn’t a blistering heat, but Calista had skipped out on watering her plants these past few days. Her lips curled at the thought as she remembered as to why.

A mother couldn’t help but worry about her child after all..

⋆˖⁺‧₊☽◯☾₊‧⁺˖⋆ This boy's eyes remind me of someone else. They remind him of the ocean and... and the others. Does he know them? Perhaps but he can find that out another time. For now he needs to get to the bottom of this monster business he heard the very obviously new-here newcomer asking around town about.

Anyone who's been in Wonderland long enough knew better than to ask around about monsters. There were monsters every where you looked and it just depended on who one asked. Some would tell the boy they were in the space outside this small little run down town and others ? Other would tell the boy that the swordsman standing in front of him was the greatest demon he may ever face. The devil himself but while they were justified in their opinions due to past action that doesn't mean he's a threat now.

He's only a threat to those that require it from him.

His lips fall to a frown behind the thin metal mask that covers the lower half of his face as white clothed arms cross over his chest. The man sighs.

"There are monsters everywhere in Wonderland, child. You're going to need to be more specific. Traveling this place alone isn't wise. You're not here by yourself, are you?"

"He-ey." Sora called out irately. His spikey black head glistened from the sea water, blue eyes sharp in frustration. He was shoulders up, popped out of the sea water. "HE-EY!" A pout of irritation, before he chucked a shell, right for the head of his best friend. "HEY! Pay attention to me!"

"Sora?" Aqua echoed, trying to get his attention. He seemed distracted from training. She wasn't sure if it was something more serious or if he simply need water and something to eat. "I haven't been pushing you too hard, have I?"

"Sometimes it really amazes me how many worlds are out there."

Through her friend, she'd seen so much scenery she'd have never had the opportunity to see otherwise, and for that, she'd always be thankful. Every night, she could daydream in her room about the sheer amazement of the surface.

"Can you make me a promise?"

From her satchel, the mermaid takes out a bracelet, homemade. It was a seaweed that would never rot, with a shell charm carved out of a real seashell, which is offered to Sora. A special piece of jewelry, something to remember her by when they couldn't be together.

"That we'll always be friends, no matter where we go."

"Don't worry about me sora I'm used to getting hit on the head" the canine reassured his friend while rubbing his nose

"Macky! Macky!" His voice echoed out in the otherwise quiet of the night, and Riku sighed as he scanned the space behind his apartment. It opened up into a small deck and normally his cats were completely well behaved and knew better than to run. Cheese certainly never would try; the feline was far too chubby to ever want to run, and Riku couldn't seem to get her to shake off the excess pounds no matter how much he encouraged her. Macaroni on the other hand...

He had just been planning to head to bed after allowing them some time outside. Considering it was barely two in the morning it was fairly early for him. It was why he was only wearing a t-shirt and some light sleeping pants, but with a sigh he grabbed a pair of sneakers to pull on before heading out in the direction he had seen the furry feline run off.

At least she isn't a black cat. She was a tortoiseshell, so not really light, but easy enough to spot against the dark. She had headed toward the street, which would have worried him if there had been traffic this late at night.

A sudden burst of searing pain radiated through his chest, causing Riku to freeze in place as one hand instinctively reached up to clutch tightly at his shirt, right over his heart.

It took just a moment for the pain to start to fizzle away which was when he noticed him, the brunet that hadn't been there moments ago. Or-- had he? It wasn't like Riku had been looking for other people. He found himself taking a step, feeling suddenly very exposed.

"Oh, uh-- hey have you-- have you seen... a cat?"

"I dunno," Roxas admits initially, before thinking better of himself and amending, "it wasn't long ago, though. I like... I take naps instead of sleeping. It works out better for me that way."

He does not say, that he can't sleep for very long because the nightmares will come, and when they do he can do nothing but dread the idea of falling asleep again, only to return to the personal hell his mind conjures up for him. He does not say that he has been awake for nearly eighteen hours, and that's only with four hours of sleep between his stunt of staying up for twenty-seven hours the other day. He says none of these things.

"It's alright, really. I'm fine." He forces a smile, hoping that it is believable. "I'm just busy. You don't need to worry about me."

Held onto this one for a bit bc I was having trouble thinking of anything specific, hope that's ok!

I think I could point to almost anything in the Smash / wider Nintendo RPC as being a fun memory though. @dreamycollective's server is genuinely a really fun and chill place to be and I've gotten to do a lot of fun RP events and things through there! Of course the Halloween event is our bread and butter over there but others like Spring Smash Seminar and @skyfcx's summer thing he did that one time also are great ones!
