I love maxine as well. I was wondering if in an alternate universe, maxine, K (from Golden) and E (from beyond the game) would ever collaborate on a song together, like the three of them just having like a small collab on a song I think would be pretty cool. 👀👀

Okayyy, *cracks knuckles* because as you can see, Maxine/upsahl is my new obsession and I am unwell (<- in the best way, I promise).

I regularly scream about Max and E in Nikka’s (@sohmiya) inbox, like there’s probably a whole series on her blog about them at this point. In a pre-Beyond The Game world, they’ve collaborated already, had a whole fwb relationship, and (at least) have a single out that was nominated for an award (pictures or it didn’t happen woo):

Soo, yeah, I imagine Max and E would’ve collabed on more stuff individually, but E loves Second Coming too so, as a band, if they ever wanted to collab on something E happily would. Or like even aid Max with writing songs for the band—so yeah, very much love Max and E together <3

See, the difference with Max, E and K—Max and E are confident individuals. K is confident, but half the time its façade to keep them safe. I feel like when K’s cleaning their apartment or just doing errands or something, they’d listen to Max’s and E’s music and sing along.

But, K’s a shy babe and if anyone asked them to sing out loud they’d laugh in their face and say “fuck no”, especially in front of musicians that they love. K would say something like “the most I’m doing is playing the guitar for you and that’s it.”

Howeverrr, I do imagine K inviting Max and E to their apartment one day and whilst K’s there, they’re doing their own thing and they’ve lost track of time and then Max and E walk in on them singing. And then K turns around and finds them smirking at them, and then K’s all like “omg, shut the fuck up and never mention this to anyone or I will kill you”

Tldr: if K ever gets an ounce of musical confidence, a collab with Max and E would work <3

Do you have any if recommendation?

Ooh! I have really, really bad memory(!!) but these are current faves that I have played/replayed recently that I can think of. A lot of the authors are also THE BEST HUMAN BEINGS EVER. So, double recommendation.

I probably missed a bunch out, so take this as a non-exhaustive list! In no particular order:

WIPs with demos

Citadel, @bouncyballcitadel (I think of all the IFs on this list, this one makes me sweat the most. And I've said it once and I'll say it again: the dialogue is so snappy and well-written, and characters are SO DAMNED LOVEABLE.)

Infamous, @infamous-if (I've been manifesting Band/Musician IFs for the longest time, and then this popped up! I've even played Choice of a Rockstar, that's how desperate I was... Anyway, this is legions better than that. Angsty ex routes are my kryptonite, and Seven is just. Inevitable.)

Defiled Hearts: The Barbarian, @defiledheartsblog (I went into this wanting something juicy and fun/historical—and it's all of those things, but I didn't expect it to be so damned funny, too. The ROs are all impeccable.)

Raiders of the Caravan and Apartment 3-3, @leftski-if (A'ight listen, fantasy slice-of-life is my fave genre, and these are IT. Like, everything I never knew I needed in my life, and SO cozy/wholesome, with a cast of characters that I want to befriend in real life.)

The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes: An Affair of the Heart @doriana-gray-games (First off, the customization in this game is INSANE, and the branching too. I've replayed a couple of times and the little variations I discover each time just blows my mind. Secondly, it's so funny and written so well. Ngl I'm not a Sherlock fan but that's just testament to how amazing this IF is.)

When Life Gives You Lemons, @when-life-gives-you-lemonssss (Modern slice-of-life with an adorable kid, a bunch of hot ROs, CC. Hill's humor, what can I say?)

Golden @milaswriting (Really interesting world-building, one of the coolest fictional cities I've read in an IF, AND I'm obsessed with the ROs, in particular K de la Renta. Also Mila is such an awesome writer, I'm beyond excited for @beyondthegame.)

A Tale of Crowns @ataleofcrowns (This game is beautiful, polished, and SO exciting. Honestly, it looks like the kind of game created by a whole-ass game studio and would cost $50 to buy, it's that good. I really got swept up by this IF—probably played it all in one go.)

Rougi @rougi-if (Again, another game with scrumptious visuals/UI and also is just so well-crafted. I love the premise too, it's so original and fresh.)

Scout: An Apocalypse Story @anya-dev (Unfortunately this one might be on hiatus but I am/was really, really obsessed.)

Wayfarer @idrellegames (Love the game mechanics of this one, and the visuals. Probably controversial, but I like the D&D / random dice effect. And I also like the fact that it feels like an old-school RPG.)

Chop shop @losergames (The premise is all I needed to be sold, really—I'd always wanted to buy GTA as a kid but my parents were like NO WAY. Anyway, this IF did not disappoint, and let me live all my childhood dreams.)

Edit: AHH! How could I forget, one of my recent faves, Folksaga @folksaga-if (Lush atmospheric writing, super unique premise—norse mythology, plus I'm head over heels for Katla).

Okay, here’s the ask I messed up posting last night lol! This took way longer than I wanted it to because it was really hard to decide!

Florian: I think I’ve said this before (?) but Arthur from @the-kingshound because he’s very loving and supportive and Florian definitely needs that. He’s also an example of nobility that isn’t toxic, which Flor also desperately needs (that and a hug).

Marcella: K de la Renta from Golden by @milaswriting because she’d want to find out what was beneath the surface and proceed to fall ass over feet in love (as she does).

E: Kallias from @greatprotector-if because they might actually be a good influence. E is so repressed and would be hella flustered so it’d be hilarious. Then again, E is also used to being a babysitter so it fits.

Ari: Jun Hyuga from @mata-aetara-if because she loves a challenge. She could beat his ass and then proceed to heal him when he’s being an idiot, so obviously it’s a match made in heaven.

Dimitri: Gotta be Xander from @unwilling-souls-if because he’d want to know why he’s like that and he’d be intrigued by him and then trip and fall into love lmfao.

Orion: He would totally romance someone like Sebastian from @infamous-if because at his core he’s a sucker for sweet and slow romances with lots of longing. Honorable mention to Orion also from Infamous because that would be funny and very confusing.

Rowan: Noah from Novaturient by @kalorphic because, let’s be real, Rowan is moronsexual. They’d also totally help with the taking over the world thing; that’s definitely a Rowan thing to do.

Kira: Hannie Blackthorne from @thrill-seeker-if because she loves a good rivalry and would also make them hand made knitted goods with fae magic. Would protect them with her life.

Cier: I think Grayson Donohue by @if-mirrormine because he longs for that kind of devotion and loyalty. Would be just as loyal in return and also would love the cuddling.

Ilaria: This one was especially hard but I landed on Marco from Blood Moon by @barbwritesstuff because he might actually be able to make her smile. She’d fall pretty hard and fast after that.

Sumado a estos programas, la Presidenta de la República reiteró la puesta en marcha de tres programas nuevos: apoyo a mujeres de 60 a 64 años, becas para estudiantes de preescolar a secundaria en escuelas públicas; y las consultas médicas a domicilio para personas de la tercera edad. Piénsenlo, solo por un momento, si el objetivo hubiera sido que la presidenta controlara la Suprema Corte, hubiéramos hecho una reforma al estilo Zedillo. Pressing their face into the other’s neck, hiding from the world.

There's something about the element of a late night with one someone you've grown to adore. The silences that are far from awkward, the presence of that certain someone curled up next to you, the slow yet comfortable breathing that happens to fall into sync—to name a few.

And, right now, you get to experience all those with K. If you had asked yourself months ago whether you thought that'd be the case, you would've let out a humourless laugh and given a wry smile. If you had been asked weeks ago, you'd tell yourself that it's something you'd hope would happen.

Despite feeling a strong, protective arm over your middle, you still turn to one side to catch a glimpse of the vampire. K's wide awake, fully alert, eyeing you with an arched brow as the light from your bedside lamp illuminates their features.

"I thought you said you were tired," they murmur, brow raising higher. A few of K's curls lay on their forehead, somewhat neat yet unkempt in a way that would only look breathtaking on them.

You hum. "I am."

There's no lies to your words, your body is definitely fighting against your judgement to stay awake—but something's holding you back. Well, K de la Renta is.

"You're distracting," you eventually admit in a whisper. You don't need the lamp's light to see the smug grin on K's lips, a beautiful sight, even more so if it wasn't at your expense.

"I'm taking that as a compliment," they chuckle.

If possible, their grip around you tightens, even when K moves to lay on their back. A rush of thoughts flood their mind: that something as simple as being with someone like you; in a capacity like this...it was impossible to them. Actually being able to sleep through nights soundly, having someone love them—fangs and all...

And that's when the thought of it all being ripped away plagues K's mind.

The sudden worry. The instant fear. The jolt in their chest.

K's next action is quick. Almost uncharacteristic. At the movement, there's a vampire joke on the tip of your tongue but you swallow it down as you spot the deep frown on K's lips.

Their head is buried into your neck, K's lips pressed to the spot between where your ear and jaw connect. Their shallow breathing begins to steady. Instinctively, your hand goes upwards to run your fingers through K's hair, and soon enough, you feel them relax against you.

"Hey," you murmur softly. "Are you alright?"

K pauses for a moment. A long moment. So long that worry begins to make your heart rate increase. They sense it. K feels it.

K keeps their head where it is, allowing the smooth motion of your fingers in their hair to calm them down. "'Was just overthinking, that's all."

It's a bittersweet feeling. The bitterness comes from the fact that K's worried this will all fall apart in a split second, in the flash of an eye. Yet, the sweetness comes from their ability to want to hide from the world and to do that, they seek their comfort and control within you.

C DeLuca (from Before Dusk Sets In)

I genuinely never realised that I literally created myself in interactive fiction ro form… like, I just had the idea of creating a soft, black ro because I don’t regularly see characters like that in if or just media representation as a whole, so it was nice to create C. So, now I have to give them more characteristics or C literally will be a whole version of me.

B Holden (from Golden)

My first interactive fiction child!! Literally, my whole process of creating B was: ‘I have to create a black character who’s a werewolf, but they’re completely the opposite of the angry stereotype and they have a heart of gold.’ Like, I knew B would be a character that would be in my writing in some capacity — they’re my literal comfort character, and it warms my heart seeing other people like them because they were my least popular ro. Plus, they give amazing hugs and they’d hype you up at every opportunity.

Fun fact: when I was creating B, I was like ‘okay, I love the name Blaise so let’s use that for the male version’. Then I saw another if had a Blaise so I was like ‘let’s use a Blaze’ instead — and my reasoning for not using the first spelling was stupid, but I feel like the Blaze spelling fits their personality more? Something like that anyway.

K de la Renta (from Golden)

As you can see there is a pattern where I’ve been starved of black characters in fiction, howeverrr, K feels more like a complete character to me. If I wasn’t the person who created them and I met them, I would be intimidated, 100%, but they’re so complete in the terms that they have dreams, and fears, and desires, and though the future scares the hell out of them (partly due to their immortality), I think they’re always trying to clutch for good things and good people in life — and they’re so much more than their confident persona, and then just having some belief in themselves to show their complete authentic self to others would be perfect, so I can’t wait to write and show that. Plus… fucking dimples.

L Corrales (from Before Dusk Sets In)

L’s mind is very fun because I think it’s just pure chaos! Like, I genuinely think there’s so much that they think about that it’s enough to keep them excited and just keep them going. I feel like they’re someone that romanticises life, and in general, I think people need more of that. Despite their fears, they joined a gang. Despite their fears, they’re going to fall deeply and madly in love, and despite so much that may go wrong, you miss out on all the chances that you don’t take, so I love their mindset.

P Martens (from Golden)

P may be the ro I think about the most, I think… the main reason being is that I think about Maya Quimby a lot (like, seriously, I’m on my knees for her and I’d take her out so we could be best friends and bond even though I think our personalities are somewhat opposites), but also because I find P to be this soft, ethereal person who just glides through life, and soaks up all their experiences like a sponge and learns from them (apart from the emotional ones, but maybe they’ll work on that…). And they just have this thirst for knowledge, out of the other four, they genuinely would like to attend Lehsa University just so they could learn about stuff from a human aspect.

I think P is a person who’s an ambivert, they love plants, and soft animals, and they’re a hopeless romantic, but they’re suave and confident and they’ll tease you about shit — like, they don’t fit into one box, and I think years ago, there was always this perception that you need to fit into a neat box and have a label — but P is far from that.

Sinto-me um pouco boba quando digo que não tenho tempo para postar regularmente, estando apenas no 6º ano e todos os outros estão na faculdade, ou pelo menos mais velhos do que eu. De qualquer forma, vi que a K-Line fez um post há algum tempo sobre o que ela usaria "em um mundo perfeito" e me marcou para fazer também! O dela foi fabuloso, eu usaria os mesmos materiais se pudesse! Mas isso parece divertido, então aqui vamos nós.

Dia:

Um lindo vestido floral da Oscar de la Renta para a coleção Primavera/Verão 2007. Escolhi porque é simples, mas divertido; as cores e o padrão combinam muito bem, e as linhas do pescoço e da cintura me lembram a moda dos anos 50. É simplesmente fofo!

Noite:

Este é da coleção Primavera 2008 RTW de Christian Lacroix. Escolhi porque o vestido é muito elegante e o padrão é simplesmente lindo; o conjunto está muito bem equilibrado com as pulseiras. Além disso, tenho adorado todas essas peças extravagantes para a cabeça ultimamente.

Uau, tudo o que escolhi foi um vestido… de qualquer forma, este é da coleção Outono 2008 RTW de Erin Fetherston. É muito básico, mas eu simplesmente adoro a cor e o material. Um vestido para se divertir, mas ainda parecer elegante.

After looking through the codebook for the GAPMINDER, I have decided that I am particularly interested in income per person. I will use variables in association like alcohol consumption per adult and suicide.

STEP 2, 3, 4 and 5. Identify a specific topic of interest - Prepare a codebook of your own - Identify a second topic that you would like to explore in terms of its association with your original topic - Add questions/items/variables documenting this second topic to your personal codebook.

STEP 6. Perform a literature review to see what research has been previously done on this topic.

El interés de este proyecto en los países de renta baja radica en que la investigación sobre el alcohol, sus alcances y sus perjuicios se ha limitado a un grupo de países de renta alta (Holmes, A., & Anderson, K., 2017; Walls H, Cook S, Matzopoulos R, et al, 2020)). También, se ha evidenciado un aumento de consumo de alcohol en los países de renta baja y media (Walls H, Cook S, Matzopoulos R, et al, 2020).

La revisión bibliográfica permitió relacionar diferentes estudios con la hipótesis del presente proyecto de investigación: Los países con menor renta per cápita presentan mayores tasas de consumo de alcohol y un mayor riesgo de suicidio.

En relación, Katherine J. Karriker-Jaffe, Sarah C. M. Roberts, and Jason Bond (2013) en su estudio Income Inequality, Alcohol Use, and Alcohol-Related Problems proponen que los índices de pobreza se asocian positivamente con el consumo ligero y excesivo, y los problemas relacionados con el alcohol.

También, en el estudio Lifetime income patterns and alcohol consumption: Investigating the association between long- and short-term income trajectories and drinking, Cerdá, M, Johnson-Lawrence, V.D. and Galea, S (2011) encontraron que los ingresos más bajos se asociaron con mayores probabilidades de abstinencia y de consumo excesivo de alcohol, en relación con el consumo ligero/moderado.

Además, el estudio Convergence in National Alcohol Consumption Patterns: New Global Indicators (2017) comparó el consumo per cápita con la renta real per cápita. Lo resultados sugieren que “la convergencia de la renta por sí sola (la aproximación gradual de los países en desarrollo a la renta per cápita de los países de renta alta) no conduce necesariamente a la convergencia de las pautas de consumo de alcohol basadas en los volúmenes per cápita”.

En relación con el riesgo de suicidio y el ingreso per cápita, el estudio Impact of Income Inequality and Other Social Determinants on Suicide Rate in Brazil (2015) evidenció que, entre otros, la desigualdad de ingresos es un factor de riesgo para las tasas de suicidio en dicho país. Además, subraya que, por ejemplo, la disminución de la desigualdad de renta y el aumento de la renta per cápita pueden contrarrestar el aumento de los suicidios en Brasil.

También relacionado, Zhang, J., Ma, J., Jia, C., Sun, J., Guo, X., Xu, A., & Li, W. (2010) con la investigación Economic growth and suicide rate changes: A case in China from 1982 to 2005, demostraron que el desarrollo económico está asociado a la disminución de las tasas de suicidio en China.
