Yesterday, I jumped in the pool only to find out it was considerably cooler than I had expected (that's what I get for not dipping a toe in first), I soaked up some rays, and just generally enjoyed the day all while wearing my bathing suit. And for the first time in forever, I didn't even judge myself in the mirror, think of a million excuses not to put it on or instantly grab a cover up to hide all my imperfections. In fact, I didn’t even give it any thought at all. I'm not sure if it's because we have so often been reminded lately to #justwearthesuit or if I'm just at the point of my life that I can't be bothered to miss another moment of this short time we are given, but wondering how I looked in my bathing suit was pretty much the last thing on my mind yesterday. This is me at 50! I’ve struggled with my weight and body image for way too long! Believe it or not, even though I am overweight I’m very healthy. I take no prescriptions. My blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure have always been in the very good range. BUT I know that could change at anytime. There’s a history of #cancer in my family and that’s reason enough to strive to make my #midlife journey as healthy and active as possible. I try hard to get 60 minutes of physical activity 5 days a week, but I want to do more. I want to do it for ME! This extra weight isn’t good for me or my joints. This year of 50 is going to be all about being the best I can be for me! So for now I plan to find ways that I like to #movemore. Focus on how I feel not what others think. Find new ways to #eatbetter. Support other women in a #healthylifehappylife mindset.
