This is one of the scenes that Mon El got a lot of criticism for by SC about “not respecting Kara” and it upsets me. He has obviously been around the scheming court on Daxam all his life and is legitimately suspicious. He is trying to protect her and not just telling her what she wants to hear. That is what a real partner does. So this to me is Mon El starting to show his hero within, putting the safety of Kara and Earth before his own self-interest which would be to placate Kara.

Okay, there are several moments that I cannot watch without breaking my heart for Mon-El.

2x10 Mon-El tells Kara that he cares about her but he was not speaking up to change her mind.

2x11 Kara tells Mon-El that she would never be with him because the way he is and he takes it like a champ.

2x13 Kara tells Mon-El that she is marrying Myxz and they will make a great team.

2x16 Kara breaks up with Mon-El.

2x17 Mon-El leaves Kara to save her.

2x20 Rhea lies to Mon-El and tells him his father's death was his fault.

3x18 Mon-El says goodbye to Kara, thinking it's forever.

But these three: I can't watch these three without tearing up.

3x15 Kara lashes to Mon-El under Mrynn mental anger, mentioning situations that happened before they were together.

2x22 Mon-El leaves to survive after Kara sends the lead to the atmosphere to save the world.

3x23 Mon-El has to leave Kara again to save the future.

Mon-El has suffered too much. I will forever love and admire him. He deserved better. #JusticeForMonEl

How are you holding up after the finale? I'm... not doing to good. Feel like I wasted 2 years of my life loving a ship I thought was endgame for nothing and knowing I don't have anything to look forward to right now.

Honestly, anon? I’m a bit discouraged, but I’m still holding onto hope, and there’s a few reasons why.

Mon El was not properly written offYes, that was super irritating and disrespectful, BUT it leaves room for the character to be brought back in later seasons

The reason he left has to do with BrainiacIf I know nothing else about the comics, it’s that Brainiac is a major villain to the Supers. And (I know this happens in Injustice but idk about the comics because on Krypton it was different) Brainiac collects Argo City, which would definitely affect Kara. My hope is that Mon and Winn will come back in a later season, asking for Kara’s help with him. It’d be a good story for Brainy too.

Klaroline and Roy HarperEven if things seem bad now, it doesn’t mean it’s permanent. Roy Harper was properly written off Arrow, and is returning as a series regular this year. And Caroline was given an endgame with Stefan on TVD, but after his death, it seems like she’ll now be endgame with Klaus to wrap up the Originals. Especially since they were written as endgame in s2, I think there’s hope that the stars will align for them again, and that they can still be endgame. 

I hope this gave you a bit of hope. This is obviously just my opinion on the topic, but either way, I don’t think you should feel like it was for nothing. If they brought you joy for these years then it wasn’t for nothing. I hope you have a great day and that this helped a bit.

Mon El Appreciation Week - Day 4

The problem with doing a post late after seeing a lot of great posts from others is that others have already mentioned most things and in a more artistic way then I am able to do.

I also love his smile, the sweet touches, his super suit, his (s)ass, his humor, his commitment to becoming a hero etc.

But the trait that I love the most was that Mon El was a very FLAWED character. That he owned it and worked hard to become the very best that he could be. That he made mistakes but never gave up. That he was perfectly imperfect.

Even as the fully fledged hero in season 3 the influence of the psychological damage done by his abusive mother was still evident. Low self-esteem and an almost desperate need to be seen as significant and worthy in order to deserve love and affection. Which makes the fact that he returned to the future out of duty only to be alone and miserable even more heartbreaking. I hope they have good therapists in the 31st century...
