Adding the “rum-running-tunnel” bit to chapter eight, and then have the characters deliberately not call it MOONSHINE is so so fun.

HUGE step forward for gender diversity and progress moving forward in our sport!
Skate Canada has officially announced a change in the rule book for Ice Dance and Pairs teams that will allow for teams of any gender composition to compete at local and National competitions, instead of limiting teams to (1) man and (1) woman.
This is such a marked achievement, and I really hope we see more National organizations and the ISU follow suit <3

It’s cool watching interviews with all the cast members of the quarry because they are all SO expressive when they talk that it makes perfect sense that they were cast because a casting director saw them perform and said “yeah we need that expressiveness for this project”

Your letters: Writer accuses left of 'hunting conservatives' after DOJ raid on Wausau mayor
"What was clearly just a political fight about implementing the ballot drop boxes ... has been escalated by the local left-wing partisans and our State AG Josh Kaul into something akin to 'crimes against the state.'" - Orlando Alfonso of Wausau
Dear editor, With political persecution conducted by activists in and out of city hall and the intimidating Nazi-like raids executed by our own State Department of Justice at the behest of these same activists, one need not visit Caracas, Venezuela or Washington, D.C., to witness “government gone wild.” It exists right here. Welcome to the ever tolerant “Community for All.” Welcome to Wausau,…

"Fun fact about that line. The line is supposed to imply I don't like either of them because I kind of like you" - Justice Smith about Ryan's "maybe neither" line when Laura asks if she likes Dylan or Kaitlyn more
As a rabid, hardcore Laura x Max shipper, this can't just be ignored. If anyone thinks that fan interpretation is somehow more canon than what the literal actors who studied and portrayed these characters and scenes say about them, then you have a bad case of shipper's delusion. The Quarry definitely did a lot of queer-baiting, both with Ryan and Dylan and Emma and Abi, and that's annoying and harmful, but we need to stop denying that Ryan was just not interested in Dylan. Or Kaitlyn, for that matter.
It's actually annoying to me that Ryan and Dylan have pretty much no fan content individually, especially Ryan, it's all just Rylan. I feel like Rylan overshadows Ryan as an individual character, his character development, and his involvement in the main story with Chris and the entire Hackett family and everything. You know, the Hacketts, the entire focus of this game. Ryan is basically the main character and all people pay attention to is the Rylan ship and it's exhausting and disappointing. I'm not a fan of this ship personally because Ryan is evidently uninterested in Dylan, and Dylan often seems put off or upset with that, so it just seems unhealthy/like it wouldn't work out. And same with Ryan and Kaitlyn. In fact, I didn't even know Kaitlyn liked Ryan for the first couple of playthroughs.
This is also only on Ryan's side, mind you. Although Laura is even more obvious with her flirting toward Ryan, I believe that's because of her infection, same like it was with Nick. I say this especially because there's still an ending you can get where Laura happily reunites with Max. Granted, Ryan is dead in this ending, but I kind of doubt Laura, who was immediately willing to kill both Travis and Chris just to save Max, would dump him for Ryan in a few hours. Laura and Max were already in a relationship, but Ryan and Dylan/Kaitlyn weren't as serious. (Also feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about Laura's feelings for Ryan, if the actors/developers said anything about it as well.)
I'm just tired of people saying stuff like "Laura and Ryan are so brother/sister, Laura and Ryan clearly weren't flirting," because obviously that's not true. Justice Smith said it himself. And by any of this do I mean to say that I like Lyan or think it should've been end game? No, like I said, I'm pro LauraMax, and I'm pretty sure Laura is pro Max herself. I honestly think it was pretty sloppy and rushed writing for Ryan to be so aggressive toward and suspicious of Laura basically up until her eye regenerates, then all of a sudden he seems to have a crush on her. I think the pacing could have been way better, and most of all, I just think they needed more time together for that to even be fleshed out, but they quite literally only had an hour.
Also, as someone who tends to be a fan of extremely hated, unpopular, or non-canon ships myself, this is not a post demanding anybody to not ship Rylan (or if there are Ryan x Kaitlyn shippers out there too). I really don't care what you ship, I only care when you start denying canon. I just don't get all the shipping wars, not just in The Quarry, but in general. I wish people would just acknowledge and accept canon, but still feel free to ship what they wanna ship anyway. No need to tear each other down.
EDIT: The Rylan shippers unfortunately wanted to get on my bad side and prove just how delusional and unnecessarily nasty they really are. In NO WAY does Justice saying "Looking back on that line now, I view it as Ryan is an asexual king" somehow miraculously manage to erase what Justice himself said was the original, canonical meaning given to him by the creators of that line. THAT is Justice's personal interpretation, but he literally said what the true meaning was, and that is that he's interested in Laura. Like it or not (I don't even like it because it's rushed and underdeveloped and I'm a LauraMax shipper to the grave), that's just what that line meant. The fact that Rylan shippers are so obsessed with that ship to the point where they must attack and be obnoxiously rude to anyone who ships Lyan or even MENTIONS it is just so unhealthy and bothersome. It really makes me not want to be a part of this community anymore because logic and canon apparently just gets ignored in favor of a ship that just doesn't and won't happen. I think people are just either misogynistic or have a fetish for gay men, especially seeing as it's literally the same way, only SLIGHTLY less aggressive, for Climbing Class in Until Dawn; most Climbing Class shippers vehemently deny the existence or even the idea of Jossam, and even Chrashley sometimes which is hilarious because it's ALSO literally canon, but whatever. I give up. Cue attacks on me in five...

Cartoonists for Palestine is a volunteer group of cartoonists, writers and editors. We are creating an archive of comics about Palestine to help create an international community of artists and to shape public understanding of the ongoing genocide. Since launching in March 2024, we have published over 100 comics on our online archive. We are now fundraising to publish a print anthology, which will be a 200-page, full-color book of comics created by over 50 artists from around the world. Pre-order it here, or through Gofundme.
Below the cut is information about the project, about preorders, finances, and wholesale orders.
About preorders:
Through this campaign, you can preorder copies of the book. We will be publishing the first edition of book in October 2024 through Crucial Comix. We will be taking preorders through October 30th, 2024. Books will be printed in November 2024 and ship by the end of the year. A PDF of the book will also be available on the Cartoonists for Palestine website in November as a free download for anyone.
About the project:
Comics have no walls nor borders. All around the world, in newspapers, magazines and on mobile phone screens, comics speak about the most important topics of the day and represent an opportunity to reject the boundaries that were assigned to us. We are not powerless. Through comics, we can shape the narratives told about ourselves and our world—and in that way, we hope to provoke change.
This archive seeks to center personal responses to Gaza within the cartoonist community, regardless of nationality, ethnicity, state-identification, place of birth, or place of current existence. This archive rejects Islamophobia, antisemitism, chauvinism, and hate of any and all kinds. This anthology embraces social justice, solidarity, equality, and unity of any and all kinds.
You can preorder the book here at Crucial or by donating to the GoFundMe campaign.
Why a book?
A book can shape both public opinion and the historical record. Cartoonists have been publishing their work on Instagram and other social media, where it’s often censored and can be hard to find. This book collects dozens of comics and puts them into a format where they can reach places like schools, libraries, and bookstores, where they can be for years from now. It’s powerful to have the voices of all these artists in conversation with each other on the pages of a book, rather than everyone speaking just to their own audience.
Finances:
Artists have donated their comics to the online archive, and we have offered each artist in the book a $100 honorarium for licensing their work in this print anthology.
All proceeds from the book, beyond the cost of printing, shipping, and artist honorariums, will be donated to Palestinian aid organizations. The groups we are fundraising for with this first edition are Medical Aid for Palestinians, ANERA, and Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund. We have contacted these organizations, which are based in Palestine, and received their approval to donate proceeds from this book.
Our fundraising goal of $15,000 will cover a print run of 1000 copies. Anything over $15,000 we raise will be donated directly and also once we cover the costs of printing and shipping this book run, we will begin to donate the proceeds. We will donate the proceeds periodically and update the “financial details” section of our site with receipts.
The money from preorders will be handled by Crucial Comix, who will be arranging the printing and shipping of the finished book. If you have any questions or ideas about this project, please feel free to get in touch via our website.
Contributors include:
Among the 50 contributors are: Adam Whittier, Al Benbow, BeneDí, Cooper Lit, Dimitrea Tokunbo, Douglas Lambert, Eli Valley, Ethan Heitner, Holly Casio, Jen Camper, Jen Sorensen, Jess Peng, Julia Mata, Kaitlyn Quach, Layal Safieddine, Madeline Berger, Maia Kobabe, Matt Bors, Melissa Mendes, Mohammad Sabaaneh, Rachel Deutsch, Safdar Ahmed, Sam Nakahira, Sarah Firth, Solomon J. Brager, Soolagna Majumdar, Trinidad Escobar, Zhen, Kazimir Lee
About the cover:
The cover for this book features an illustration by artist Mohammad Saba’aneh, which is used with permission from his graphic narrative Power Born of Dreams: My Story is Palestine (Street Noise Books).
Wholesale copies:
If you would like to wholesale copies of the book (such as for a bookstore or institution), please contact us to determine how much you should donate to receive the copies you need. Email: [email protected]

I subscribed to a Russian dataminer for cut content from The Quarry. You’re not supposed to share and I understand why and support paying people for their work! Buuuut I also understand why people might be hesitant to pay someone in Russia on a poorly translated website to access this stuff, so I’m gonna take my chances with potentially being banned because a couple of these things the Quarry fandom at large needs to see! Screenshots and discussion under the cut.
[you can subscribe or send tips here if you’re interested, they do have more SMG stuff including cut DPA content]
Tumblr media
Thank you @insertlovelyperson for this!
These are somewhat Ryan and/or Dylan centric because I find them the most interesting, but they also had the most story-impacting cut content IMO.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
RYAN WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO WARN DYLAN ABOUT THE WEREWOLF OUTSIDE THE RADIO HUT.
I know I’ve talked to a bunch of people about this. I know @andromaqves was one and I can’t remember who else but omfg, justice for Ryan!! I think they cut this because they made the werewolf more obvious than Justice's performance indicated but THAT MAKES IT WORSE. DO YOU NOT SEE HOW THAT MAKES IT WORSE YOU GUYS?!
Ryan also could have had the chance to actually get a shot off against Silas in the version of the radio hut scene where Dylan isn't bitten, and he'd think he had killed the werewolf.
Tumblr media
Then as he's heading back to the radio hut, Dylan warns him that it's coming back and we get the rest of the scene as it plays out in the game.
Tumblr media
I get why they cut this, because if they established for certain that regular bullets can't actually harm the werewolves, there's no stakes to Abi potentially shooting Nick, but it's a cool sequence, it's always good to see the boys work together, and it would have been AWESOME if Ryan could have been infected here instead of Dylan!
This exchange just made me laugh:
Kaitlyn to Ryan: you really look up to Mr. Hackett.
Ryan: Yeah, he’s always been nice to me.
Kaitlyn: Well, so have I!
Ryan: A few days ago I slipped on wet grass and ate shit and you laughed and shouted ‘Nice Walkin Christopher Walken' and everyone called me that for the rest of the day.
Kaitlyn: See, you get my best bits! 😂😂😂
Tumblr media
Dylan reads Ryan the synopsis of a romance novel they find in Mr. H’s office that appears to be a thinly veiled reference to the bonfire love triangle. 😂
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ryan and Kaitlyn: actually showing care and concern for Dylan post-amputation instead of pretending it didn't happen.
Dylan, in shock but still an asshole: I'm fine, I’m doing better than Kaylee Hackett. 💀
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again, this is just funny and a great question from Emma.
Tumblr media
Abi can not be into the kiss with Nick, presumably due to the no-longer-in-place relationship system. I'm betting if you didn't get their relationship stats up you would get this result.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Laura claims to Ryan that Chris Hackett drunkenly admitted that his family was KILLING PEOPLE who were investigating them, but there's nothing else to back that up in the datamine that I've found so far (not that I think she made it up lol, just that it would have been interesting if the Chris scene was cut to remove that too).
Tumblr media
And the one my heart can't fucking take, Kaitlyn and Dylan on the way to the scrapyard variant where Ryan has kissed Kaitlyn at the bonfire and they actually talk about it because she asks Dylan if he's jealous of Laura getting to go off with Ryan. He says he's jealous but not of Laura...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"You're pretty awesome and I'm... just Dylan" 😭 😭 😭
And, "you guys seem like you've got a connection"?? Kaitlyn as Rylan shipper, confirmed. 💖

Actors talk about the writers' intentions with Ryan and Laura.
You know, I'm not one to look for what actors say about my ships. I usually don't care, I prefer to let the media (games, movies, TV shows) speak for itself and just ignore extra off screen stuff.
But a friend sent me these clips and I decided to post them here on my blog for archiving purposes and in case anyone who likes the ship needs some inspiration to keep going.
So here it is.
I mean, it's not really that surprising to me personally, because Dylan and Kaitlyn literally talk about the "sexy sparks" between Ryan and Laura.
So the writers were clearly hinting at something going on between them. There is no misinterpretation or miscommunication, it's just how the story is written.
And, by the end of the game, Ryan has 2 or 3 scenarios where he can sacrifice himself for her, and Laura really becomes overprotective of him even after the werewolf infection is cured.
They genuinely came to care about each other and it's so cool.
One thing I like about The Quarry is how every ship gets a moment to shine.
Of course, some ships are more popular than others, but that's okay because every ship has something, a scene, to be happy about.
It's quite refreshing.

if kaitlyn dever has no fans, it means im dead. i'm a kaitlyn dever defender till the day i die.
i wrote a post about her rumoured casting last month and i fucking stand by it. She’s never really played an antagonistic role so I’m excited to see her in this and no doubt that she will serve.
i understand fans hesitation about aspects of abby that aren't represented in kaitlyn (i.e. her physicality) and honestly for someone her size and also the timeframe that is probably a month or two till filming, and even if they pushed her scenes till later, she’ll never really get that size. people have been saying why they couldn’t have found someone who’s physicality is already there but the most important thing that casting and creators do is find someone with the ability to do the scenes FIRST and everything comes later. you want to feel something over someone who just looks the part. I’m sure many people who probably look the part auditioned but unfortunately they probably didn’t have chemistry with the other actors or they couldn’t do the scenes justice. I think there’s a level of trust that should be given to the powers that be that they know what they are doing.
there’s no doubt that bella ramsey and kaitlyn dever are going to act down and I think that’s the important bit to remember. and to all the haters, grow the fuck up. you can have hesitations about the casting without spreading hate.
