are there canon reasons for why Testament stayed under Justice’s control post-sealing even though they were resistant? Or for why Testament (post-first-death) is able to apparently just. Come back to life after dying.?

Most gears just went dormant after justice was sealed away since they cant function At All without commands. This doesnt apply to testament since theyre a semi-independent gear, so i guess they were left sort of acting on their own, but justice’s general influence still kinda Lingered until her death…? Thats how i feel about it with the info we have at least, i dont believe its ever especially touched on beyond just saying they didnt “regain their true self” until After her death.

And well as for the second death thing i hope youll be cheesed to know the only official explanation is they were revived “for reasons unknown”. Direct gg world quote. I think thats so awesome. Who even cares. But anyway Going back to kat’s personal vision i like to believe being converted as a corpse might have something to do with it. They seem particularly unkillable even for a gear. Maybe theyre already kinda dead in a way. They Are the skull. But idk im not daisuke :’)

…Tangent but i think its really funny that the pwab put gear cells in a corpse. Why did they do that. We dont really know that either. We just know they were a subject in experiments involving weapon development. Whether they were the weapon or like a guinea pig isnt like point blank stated but i do feel it leans towards the latter… and see now we circle back to them being seemingly unkillable possibly due to them being dead already thank you Post War Administration Bureau !!! something i love is making characters be other characters . like keith and tim. he grew up as tim but after his mom died and his dad was in a wheelchair, and steph was robin becus his dad found out, his dad sent him to his biological father (that tim disnt knkw about cus he didnt know he was adopted) only for that father to die a month after captain boomerang or whatever killed jack drake in a fire, then him meeting shiro and getting adopted by him for a lil bit and changing his name (apparently) back to keith (the drakes changed it because Keith didnt sound as rich as timothy did). Noe bruce has been looking for keith for ages, but since he changed his name back bruce hasnt found him. Then shiro gets captured in space, cannon voltron ensues, ‘n then sometime after they defeat zarkon but brfore they defeat lotor when keith is with the BOM he meets Hal Jourdan. And he wants to ask how batman is but it wiuld seem weird so he refrains and theres a bunch of scenes where you can see Hal talking to a blade member and Keith glancing at him every now and then, and then he’s sent to meet his mom.

while on the weblum, i think it was, maybe, he and krolia bond so he ends up telling her evrrything about robin, his young justicd team, what hapoened with the past robins, and vatman. of course krolia understands nothing because when she was on earth it was in the desert with no internet but she makes sure to rememver everything because it’s her baby boys life that she’s learning about because she wasnt able tk be there for him. when they get back on eartth, keiths only worry is looking up brice wayne and seeing if he’s okay, only to find iut that the entire family was captured regardless of their fighting skills, and that jason todd was actually alive, and that bruce had a bio kid. Pulling a proper keith move, he only tells his mom and they both disappear so that they can go save his family.

they do save them, eveyone lf them. And they’re all wondering who this random guy with a good galra is only for either steph or bruce to look into his eyes and recognize him and whisler “..Tim?” and him to go “its keith actually, i was adopted by the drakes and they changed my name.”

so to my understanding of the word, a vigilante is basically an illegal hero. So like, Batman is considered a vigilante, bht he isn't the best example because hes a founder of the damn justicd league. Phantom! Danny Phantom. That's a good example of a vigikante I think. Comparing all the da4 endings as I've just played through them all with my Shadow Dragon Rook

Trick

The one I picked first and I think is canon for my Rook. It's fun and dynamic (even if a bit short) and feels like a great pay back for all the psychological warfare Solas caused Rook with his smugness and constant manipulation. It's an ending that puts Rook in the spotlight, his theme playing in the background. Solas underestimates Rook all the time and he's in for the last surprise.

Solas: "Bested fairly by wits alone." (Chuckles bitterly) I thought you well.

Rook: Varric taught me well. And you killed him.

It allows Rook to get his justicd after all the blood magic and for Varric (in his head at least as Varric wanted Solas redeemed) and it makes Solas soooo mad too, to be outsmarted by a mortal and not even granted the props for teaching him.

Solas: You think yourself capable of judging me? I have faced things you could not possibly comprehend! You are a mortal! A mortal! And I am a--

Solas: (Chuckles bitterly) I am a fool... Who finally met his match.

There is something healing to hear his rant and acknowledgement of Rook after 80-90h of playing.

Fight

Solas: I do not wish to fight against you.

Rook: But I want to fight you

Just tried this ending today and I'm grateful for it. It's cool af. I expected a real fight but we got cutscene instead!

Obviously, Rook isn't a match for Solas and he's losing immediately. But whoever you picked to support people down the magic bean sprout, comes up to help you. In my case it's Taash who throws their axe at Solas. Neve and Davrin join to land blows on Solas and create enough distraction for Rook to punch Solas right in the face.

Solas: It is over. You could never stand against me alone.

Rook: I am standing against you, and I'm not alone. But you will be.

And Rook stabs Solas with the dagger just like Solas stabbed Varric. It's all about the parallels!

Just as Trick ending was all about Rook, this one is about the power of friendship. Now, the said friendship part fell flat for me during most of the game, Rook being left out from all the activities, walking on the bonding time awkwardly etc. But the poor boy believes these guys are his family so let him live his delusions, he doesn't have much else left.

Anyways, ending almost makes up for it because it shows what it preached the whole time: how valuable it is to have people you trust by your side. People moving towards the same goal. Even Solas admitted he can't defeat Elghanan on his own and needs Rook and his silly team. Shouldn't have gotten rid of your supporters then, sweety.

Just as Trick ending, it's rather short but dynamic.

Solas: You sneer at me as though you understand? You are mortal! Compared to you-to your infinitesimal existence... I AM A GOD.

And now you are a trapped god.

It ends with a nice shot of your party, Rook and 3 companions like in good old times. It's especially satisfying when Rook is super done with Solas after their toxic relationship. I replayed the endgame where romanced Davrin dies and Rook simply wouldn't have the drive to care about Solas at all, struck with grief for his hot boyfriend and his other daddy mentor.

Redeem

Why didn't anyone tell me Inquisitor shows up in this one?? I thought it's just Solavellan feature lol

I put off playing this one because it gave the impression like it's the one that game wants you to pick, despite yours or your Rook's feelings. And I was right.

After all you are going through, all the troubles to finish these regrets and mythal quests, which I think aren't even optional. And then Inquisitor hints at talking Solas down, no matter what your Inquisitor and Solas relationship was in DAI.

(Vax was friends with Solas but he decided to stop him in the end - a choice that doesn't really seems to matter in da4. Game just makes it sounds like Inquisitor, Varric and Harding were all besties with Solas, even due to lack of evidence** or your choices in DAI.

**don't come for me, there was no evidence that Varric and Solas are friends in my game as I barely took them out together lol that's why it takes me by surprise that Varric comes to such great lengths to stop him in peaceful way and wants to redeem Solas so much)

It's also the longest ending. Most budget went into it. We get to hear more manpain from Solas. Letting him be the hero that he always thought himself to be. But he needs lots of convincing to do the right thing.

I guess Inquisitor somehow managed to climb up the magic bean despite his wooden hand. We even got Morrigan back for a final confrontation.

The Inquisitor: You were my friend. We saved the world together once. Can't we save it one more time?

Aside from clearly being set up as a canon ending, it's also a bone thrown to everyone who wanted this story to be about the Inquisitor. Rook lost spotlight in his own game to make space for the returning characters. And somehow that feels like it's not enough. Because, this way Rook story doesn't feel as impactful, while Inquisitor and Morrigan had too little spotlight to stole it now - makes you wish it was their story instead. Make up your mind, Bioware.

(It's also clear the game dev team was full of solavellan fans. People who don't care much about the ship might feel like they are getting a shorter stick here, and rightfully. My experience is completely different than experience of my Solavellan's friends and I've been told that I was setting myself up for disappointment. But is it fair to expect everyone to play as solasmancer, when it's but a fraction of all players?)

Solas: My life force now sustains the Veil. With every breath I take, I will protect the innocent from my past failures. The Titan's dreams are mad from their imprisonment. I cannot kill the blight, but I can help to soothe its anger. I will go and seek atonement. Thanks to you, I now can see the way.

It's all good and pretty. It's the only ending where you get the dagger back too. So it's not only set to be the canon ending but also the only "good" ending. Solas will now help fix what he destroyed in the first time, thanks to the pep talk. We got an Inquisitor and Morrigan's scraps.

All while your current companions stand awkwardly in the background without nothing to do or say.

The DAI music in the background is such a nostalgia hit it makes me want to replay DAI immediately.

Unfortunately when my Inquisitor speaks of his first line, he speaks in mBrit voice, taking me out of narrative immediately. That ain't Jon Curry!!

Anyway, I have absolutely no point here, nor I want to convince anyone. Just writing my thoughts down. I think I prefer shorter and more dynamic because it ties up Rook story more nicely. I'd still prefer this to be Inquisitor's story though.
