i feel like you're trying to avoid talking about what happened to trump this week and how this will no doubt unite the right
Is this about the ask game? Because I really was just bored at work lol
It's true that when something bad happens, I generally don't post about it, seeing as this is a good news blog. In that case, though, I just...don't post anything besides my normal daily good news post. I don't like start answering a bunch of unrelated asks to distract from it; trust me when I say I'm not that dedicated.
I did consider reblogging some "Shooter was white" and "Shooter was Republican" memes since those parts are good news lol, but decided it might be a little too gauche
Besides that, though....I will honestly be kind of surprised if the shooting makes a significant difference once election day rolls around. That's four whole months away, in our current news cycle goldfish memory environment.
The right was always going to fall in line behind Trump for the election anyway, aside from Never Trumpers, who presumably won't be swayed be this.
If the shooter had been someone on the left or a person of color, I'd be significantly more worried. That would lead to some really dangerous weaponized rhetoric.
But since the shooting, I haven't seen the kind of fever-pitch change in national mood that would make me particularly worry.
No doubt he'll get some really annoying campaign T-shirts out of this, and some really annoying campaign donations, most of which will immediately be funneled to his lawyers instead of his campaign. But I'm not convinced he'll get many more votes out of this, especially because the undecided people are mostly moderates and independents, and the right was going to vote for him anyway
