you'd have to be a bit obvious for him to notice your crush, honestly. someone wouldve probbaly had to point it out to him, telling him that your crush was obvious to everyone but himself. this would change everything for him, instant imaginary lightbulb lighting up in his head. he'd somehow think itd be a great idea to fluster you on purpose to test out your crush, but would grow immediately addicted to his effect on you, amping it up more and more as time passed.

your distancing from him would be noticed almost immediately, with you avoiding him when he'd seek you out. he would feel so dejected (and even a bit hurt) by your sudden dismissal. he'd give you a bit of time alone before confronting you, apologizing if he ever made you feel bad. he had just been so excited at your feelings that his own feelings took over, not leaving him room to consider anything else. you'd make up pretty quickly, with him promising that he'd be the flustered one in the relationship from now on to make up for his actions.

would feel extremely dejected if you pulled away from him at his flirting. did he read it wrong? did you not actually like him? fuck, did he ruin a friendship over some stupid jokes? eventually he would approach you, pout adorning his face as he asked you why you didnt like him like that. he liked you like that. why was the concept of him liking you so bad that you had to keep away from him? would be shocked but happy at you returning his feelings, explaining that maybe you had misunderstood his reciprocation for teasing.

he can be a bit of a smartass at times, so it wouldnt be surprising if be felt a bit elevated at the thought of you having a crush on him. itd start with him chuckling whenever you were flustered at him, eventually evolving into straight up throwing sassy comments at you that would have your face heating up. he just found your reactions so cute, he couldnt help himself.

he'd immediately notice you begin to distance yourself from him at his teasing, deciding to open a line of communication with you right at that moment. would not want to risk having hurt your feelings over something he considered to be some lighthearted fun. it'd be a bit awkward for you, but he would talk to you about your feelings, letting you know that he hadnt meant to make you feel bad, but had found you so endearing he couldnt help his teasing. this would likely be the start of something between the two of you.

the moment he noticed your crush, he would instantly make jokes about it any time the two of your bantered or joked around each other. wouldnt think too much of it, although it would bring him a bit of an extra confidence boost knowing that you held a torch for him. he was already a pretty charming guy (damn anything his elder brothers had to say about it!) so it wouldnt be hard for him to fall in the habit to subtly flirt with you in the middle of banter.

if he ever noticed that maybe his flirting or his jokes went a bit too far, causing you to drift away from him, he would feel instant regret. feeling like a fucking dumbass, he would immediately go to his brothers for advice, who would all scold him and tell him to apologize. would probably still feel too awkward to do it, choosing instead to give you some space. this would only last so long as his own resolve broke, missing you too much and seeking you out to apologize, maybe even confessing his own recently discovered feelings for you.

Romance in MXTX, Priest, and SHL

MXTX: Flower, Wine and Dreamworld

The romance in MXTX's works is like flower that grows in ice and snow; colorful, bright and hopelessly romantic, blossoms in misery and hardships.

It features a distinct "us against the world" mindset, depicting love as the only constant in the world. It's an eternal "dreamworld" detached from worldly matters, the perfect escapism as well as a source of strengths in the face of cruel reality.

Both MDZS and TGCF are a critique of mob mentality.

The contrast between CQL and MDZS is very interesting. While the former ends with LWJ taking charge, and therefore changing the world for the better, the novel ends with wangxian isolating themselves from grand politics and focusing more on helping individuals as recluse. It has an essentially pessimistic attitude towards the morality & intelligence of the collective. 

TGCF takes a slightly more optimistic approach, featuring the crowd being courageous under the right circumstances. However, both works share a similar undertone: putting one’s absolute faith in the collective is dangerous, whereas unconditional trust and devotion can be only found in one-to-one connection

MXTX herself compares MDZS and TGCF to 花间一壶酒 (A cup of wine among flowers), MDZS being the wine and TGCF being flower. She also compares MDZS to 风雪夜归人, the person returning home from snow and wind, and TGCF to 红泥小火炉, a small red furnace.

Priest: Breezing Wind and Burning Iron

The romance in priest's works is more complicated. It's the most gentle in its normal state, when it is rational and collected, in which case it's like the breezing wind, soothing, sweet and light-hearted. It gives the individuals more incentive to achieve their individual and/or societal vision, as well as more reason to value their own lives & well-being.

In Faraway Wanderers, the most distinct feature of WenZhou relationship is how in naturally sync they are, and how comfortable & smooth their dynamic is. They both have past burden, but it doesn’t matter, because they bring simple joy, understanding and happiness in each other’s lives.

In Sha Po Lang and The Guardian, the ML’s lingering love for the MC motivates them to become better version of themselves, to care about others, and to form a holistic vision about bettering society. 

In The Defective, Lin Jingheng(MC) explicitly said that Lu Bixing(ML) is the only meaning in his life. He had little incentive to care about his own life after his revenge plan fell apart. LBX helped him reconnect with his inner idealism, and gave him a reason value his life.

When the passion and fiery energy manifests itself, however, the romance is like burning iron, blood and fire. It isn’t actually toxic or unhealthy, but it's not pure and innocent either; in this case, it strives for something deeper and more intense, never content with the past or the present. The sheer intensity of relationship is like a double-edged sword, walking the fine line between unconditional devotion and dangerous obsession. 

SHL: Spring Water and Healing Open Wounds

The romance in SHL is like "spring water"; it's warm, gentle, nurturing. It breaks through the boundary between individuals to bring the couple closer to each other, taking them back to a utopia of their childhood dream, away from social pressure and responsibility. The theme central to their relationship is “salvation”: how love is able to bring people back to integrity.

Both drama wkx and drama zzs have lots of regret about their past sins and wrongdoings. Four Seasons Manor is essentially a metaphor for purity, acceptance and the safety of childhood home. How to make drama wkx open up and accept this safe harbor as his home is one of the most significant plot-lines of the show.

SHL couple is way more emotionally vulnerable and expressive. A significant part of SHL arc is healing the wounds in an open and honest way. They cuddle and confide in each other way more often, talk about their shameful past and even cry about their regrets in front of one another, which is very rare among MXTX/Priest works.

The heat of the relationship sometimes gets too hot and even burns; in other words, there are constant miscommunications, conflicts and misunderstandings in the relationship. However, they can never let each other go, because it's the only source of warmth left for them in their hopeless lives filled with regrets and guilt.

Similarities and Differences

*Note that this is not a SHL/TYK comparison. TYK is kind of an “unorthodox” priest novel; you will know what I mean if you have read 3+ of her works. 

Relationship Dynamic & Narrative:  

In MXTX’s works, the concept of “romance” itself is divined; and the characters are illustration of the ideal of “undying love”. People are made for one another, to complete one another. Her works use colorful symbolism (silver butterflies, the emperor’s smile, the 3 thousand lanterns, etc.) to depict this romanticized ideal of love. 

For MXTX, the romanticization of “destined love” is one of the most recurring themes of her novels. Therefore, the readers look at their relationship through rose-color glasses. Obsession is usually framed in a jolly & romantic light, and doesn’t feature much tension or stress, and has less negative or unhealthy undertone. 

In most of priest’s works and SHL, soulmates are not born but made, so they have to figure out how their relationship works step by step. Therefore the narrative is less of a “rosy picture”. 

Priest has a habit of using derogatory terms to describe relationships that are mostly healthy, but somewhat “bloody” and edgy, full of excessive passion and obsession. The most common phrase is “爱生忧怖”, a Buddhist term meaning “love results in worry and fear”. 

SHL obviously has to be more subtle in expressing love. That said, drama WenZhou are way more emotionally vulnerable and expressive than their novel counterparts, as well as most Priest & MXTX characters. They have a dramatic falling out once in a while, even towards the end. They barely fit the Chinese definition of Zhiji (to know me/to understand one another), but are “lovers” who are buried deep in their passion instead. 

Past, Future and Evolvement: 

In SHL, characters are encouraged to treasure past impressions that are thrown in figurative “wrappings”, whose luster is derived from age-old experiences (Psychological Types, Carl Jung). In other words, they are encouraged to root their love in a shared past, a Utopia of innocence. 

The contrast between The Defective and Word of Honor is very interesting to observe. Both involve long separation, and the suffering and personality changes hat comes from it.   SHL narrative frames their innocent childhood as something to cling to and return to. Drama WKX is encouraged to accept his identity as Four Seasons Manor disciple because it was part of his childhood past. This is a significant part of drama WenZhou relationship.

In The Defective, the narrative doesn't encourage the couple to dwell on the past that much. On the contrary, the all-knowing AI explicitly discouraged the MC from “comparing past to present”. They are advised to accept changes, however painful it might be, and build a better, more equal dynamic out of it, evolving from one-sided pandering to fighting side-by-side.  

In Priest’s novels, the characters rarely return to something in the past, but look into the future. Change is usually framed as inherently beneficial, albeit usually painful and rocky, the implication being that you need to constantly strive for something better.  

Sha Po Lang is a good example of this, with Gu Yun’s changing attitude towards Chang Geng after he as he matures, gradually showing his intelligence in politics. CG starts referring to GY as Zixi instead of YiFu is also a sign of this change---to see him as equal rather than a parental figure & protector.

The Defective is even more obvious in this regard, with both parties uncomfortable with the change initially, but gradually adjusting to the changes during their 16-year separation. The ML also stops calling MC by his surname “Lin”, as a sign of viewing him as equal. 

In MXTX’s works, change in personality or relationship dynamic is neither framed as painful or good. It just happens. It’s a natural flow that take place when it does. Their relationships are rarely challenged by change. They are objectively at a better place compared to their past, but it’s merely the result of a series of events rather than a deliberate choice or struggle.  

WangXian’s relationship naturally changes over time after WWX’s rebirth, but neither of them really struggles with the change. 

Xie Lian doesn’t even recognize Hua Cheng as the someone from his past, so they start out as friends getting to know each other. 

Salvation and Changing one another: 

Priest herself stated in an interview that she doesn’t believe in the concept of salvation, since people have the inner capacity to be their own savior. Therefore, priest characters usually don’t actively try to change their partner’s morals or personality. Some might be willingly influenced by their partner, but there’s rarely an element of moral condemnation. Even when there is a conflict between different values, the options are 1) to reconcile them by choosing the middle ground 2) to maintain their independence and tackle it with nuance 3) to break up.

On surface level, Mo Du/Silent Reading is about Luo Wenzhou being Fei Du’s salvation. However, as LWZ pointed out himself, Fei Du would’ve been a good person at heart with or without his influence. 

In The Defective, when Lu Bixing mistakenly thought Lin Jingheng stayed in the Eighth Galaxy against his own wishes because of their relationship, and that their priorities are irreconcilable, he even thought about breaking up. Of course he was not serious about it, but this showcased that he would never try to change LJH’s convictions. 

In SHL, however, the concept of salvation is central to the theme. Some find it strange that SHL make drama zzs the more “moral” one of the two, despite his action being more objectively questionable. In fact, the only reason he get framed as more “moral” is that he admitted his fault sooner, and therefore could guide drama wkx’s path back to salvation: to recognize the goodness in people, make peace with external world, to clear his name in Jianghu, and to follow due process with his revenge plan to avoid collateral damages. 

“I tried to change you, but you end up changing me”, said drama ZZS. This relationship dynamic is never present in any of priest’s works I’ve read. Priest characters don’t *try* to change one another. 

Does MXTX believe in salvation? Hard to tell. One could argue that Hua Cheng would have be way more amoral and even immoral if it hadn’t been for XL. This is complicated and is a topic for another time.

However, it is certain that MXTX MCs don’t condemn each other morally. “The orthodox one defending their unorthodox partner in front of the world” is a common wuxia trope, but the way MXTX novels approach it is very different from SHL. 

HuaLian never had a serious falling out about being on different sides. Even when they disagree, they respect each other and love each other exactly the way they are. Hua Cheng didn’t approve of Xie Lian saving Mu Qing, but he didn’t interfere with Xie Lian’s decision. Xie Lian feels responsible for helping Shi Qingxuan in Blackwater arc, but he is perfectly fine with HC helping He Xuan keep secrets. In several cases where they have different values, they are able to make it work with ease.

LWJ never *morally* condemned WWX for his action, and never once objected to WWX practicing demonic cultivation after his rebirth. In fact, LWJ never objected to WWX’s morals; in their previous life he was worried about his safety, and struggled with what to do about certain situations due to his family background, but difference in morality is not an issue for them. 

The “righteous” one does not feel the need to guide their unorthodox partner or to be their salvation with regards to integrity. 

*The similarity & differences part is a bit messy and some points are not fleshed-out. Sorry about that.

"Everyone is out here trying explain that Earth isn’t hell. I beg to differ. If there is a God (I don’t believe that there is or isn’t, but if there is) and He/She/They are as benevolent and gracious as the religions of the world claim, then would the Supreme Being be too kind to make hell a place of complete torture? If God loves us so much and is so perfect, he wouldn’t even be able to bear sending those of us who deserve torture to a place where that would truly happen. He would send us to a place where we could try to learn from our actions and grow. A place we could stay forever if we never grew at all.

What if instead of fire and brimstone, he sends us here, to a place where we are constantly surrounded by amazing things that we can attain if we overcome our “flaws”, which very few people manage to actually achieve. I like to think of Earth as a prison with an exceptional reform program. Once we learn to overcome our souls ugliest aspects and ascend to a level in which we are able to lead respectable lives that make us truly happy (this doesn’t always mean riches), then we will be free to move on.

Think about it. Some believe that we are reincarnated. That would make total sense for a hell or prison. Until your soul reaches a higher level, you’re doomed to repeat your existence on a plane in which you have no control of when you are born or when you die (to an extent), who you will love, where you’ll live or even if you will be healthy. All of these inconveniences could be considered manifestations of our own personal punishment in this hell.

We are all given faults that seem tailored to make our specific personality type miserable. Think about it. The child who doesn’t receive enough attention may become a narcissist and overly confident. The child who was constantly praised may become self critical and feels like a fraud. Even the child with a perfect upbringing could start to loathe themselves for feeling any negative emotions when they had a great childhood, deeming their feelings invalid.

We are all fundamentally broken with no full proof guide on how to fix ourselves, and that is why this is hell. This is why it’s so hard to become one of those few people who truly change the world for the better on a global scale. I mean, what better way to punish us than to put us on a planet where we have little to no control over anything, and then tell us we should be able to control everything in our lives? It’s basically set up to make us feel bad about ourselves.

I mean, on this planet there’s the idea that there is no one to blame but ourselves for our own suffering, so we wind up punishing ourselves and each other, and that seems like the most sophisticated version of hell a truly mighty God could create, a real mastermind. God doesn’t even have to get involved because we do all the work for Him/Her/Them.

It’s only been getting worse as time goes on now with social media and the ability to perceive everyone else as being more in control of their lives than we are. This only solidifies the idea that we are incompetent and stunts our will to continue trying to get better because a lot of us feel like we’ll never be as good as those other people online. Instead of focusing on our own growth, we focus on trying to be like the people we perceive as better than us, and as a result nothing truly novel has been produced from this Earth in a long, long time.

That is hell to me. The idea that it would be obvious torture and hell-flames is actually a bit insulting to the complexity of whatever Creator there may be. In fact, this planet was once hot and full of lava and fire. Perhaps it started out as the traditional hell we read about in books, but has evolved over time just like everything else in this realm. I honestly don’t care. If it is hell, then obviously I belong here for some reason and I’m here to learn.

This is what the Bad Place in The Good Place evolves to in the end(spoiler bit there. Sorry!). A place where you can improve yourself rather than the obvious torture. It makes a lot of sense to me.

A Fungus Dangerclaw Masterpost

Filbo

•definitely stumbled upon Fungus while looking for Liz

•was initially friendly toward Fungus, until Fungus took it personally and chased Filbo out of the woods, growling and claws beared

•when Fungus inevitably stays in town with the others, Filbo is rightfully so still apprehensive, but as Fungus warms up to him, he warms up to Fungus

•Fungus never learns his name, but knows the word Mayor, so calls him that (it is a constant Filbo Confidence Boost [tm])

Wambus

•would meet Fungus when they'd have come to town

•Fungus has absolutely attacked Wambus, he's the biggest man in town and Fungus believes in fighting for dominance, so he attacks him to become the Alpha of town lol

•Wambus doesnt like to make eye contact with Fungus due to this very event

•Fungus does eventually calm down when Wambus lets them rummage in the farm sometimes; it turns out Fungus is handy for digging holes to plant more crops

•after a while of Fungus trusting Wambus, she starts bringing sticks to the farm and burying them in hopes of growing crops too

•Wambus eventually decides he's adopting them. No arguments.

Beffica

•is morbidly curious of Fungus (that feeling is mutual)

•Beffica has absolutely kept Fungus in her cave out of storms, and so is probably the closest thing to a friend at first to Fungus

•she likes to paint his claws, and he loves to watch her do it, he also loves picking out the colours (pink is his favourite)

•Beffica will sit Fungus down and gossip to them while she paints their nails and brushes their fur, Fungus has no idea what she's saying, but likes to feel included and picks up on some words

•the few words he's learnt from Beff are "Squeeb", "Like", and "OMGee"

•Beffica does understand that Fungus can be dangerous, and she knows when to stop pushing their buttons

Gramble

•Gramble met Fungus in the middle of the night, when they broke into town to steal supplies

•Fungus DIDN'T attack Gramble, only because he's smaller than Fungus and therefore not deemed a threat

•when Fungus stays in town, they become enamored by the barn, and the Bugsnax there (because Fungus refuses to eat them too) and hangs out in the outdoor pen with them

•Fungus inevitably imprints on Gramble and begins following him around and bringing him Bugsnax that are very hard to catch (cheepoofs, grapesketos, lollives, scoopy banoopys) and Gramble is Confused.jpeg

•Gramble learns to trust Fungus when the first fight breaks out at the party (The "that's why your wife left you" Scene) and Fungus defends Gramble, literally standing between him and Wambus

•now Gramble accepts Fungus as family, and is just mildly frightened of them

Wiggle

•with Fungus constantly following Gramble around, it was only a matter of time until they met Wiggle

•Fungus took one look at her and was prepared to fight a bitch, but when Gramble stopped them from attacking her, they stopped being aggressive

•Fungus definitely wants that pink fluffy scarf around Wiggle's neck, but hasn't devised a plan to steal it yet

•Fungus doesnt understand how instruments work, so when Wiggle starts playing her banjo, Fungus is simultaneously frightened and interested

•Fungus begins loving listening to Wiggle's music and starts hitting the ground in percussion with the music

•Wiggle will never pass up on an adoring fan of course, and starts teaching Fungus how to make music, Fungus learns nothing, but is happy to have attention

Triffany

•Triffany would find Fungus in one of the ruins, probably lost

•Triffany would be confused, but curious

•Fungus trusts Triffany quickly, as she's sensible and knows a feral creature when she sees one, so takes her time

•Fungus likes to try and help piece history together with Triffany, but obviously he has no idea what he's ever doing, so he isn't really much help

•Triffany's accent is completely foreign to Fungus, so they can have problems understanding some of her pronunciations, however, they absolutely adore her accent and loves listening to her talk

•Triffany is most likely the Grumpus who brought Fungus to town, probably to show Wambus the creature she adopted, and ask Floofty if any of this makes sense

•Fungus likes to chew on bones Triffany gives him, it helps sharpen his teeth and subdue his pure, feral rage

Cromdo

•Fungus would take a VERY long time to trust Cromdo, due to his sleezy nature

•Fungus absolutely wants whatever Cromdo is selling (because they're a hoarder) but doesn't know of the economy, only knows stick. Fungus will buy material objects with sticks and leaves or Cromdo will die

•a sick part of Cromdo wants to sell Fungus to Floofty for science, but knows that would be the second most illegal thing he's ever done (Grumpus Trafficking is no joke-)

•Fungus would probably want a tie, let's be honest

•Eggabell, being a doctor, just wants to get her hands on Fungus to take care of him

•but Fungus isn't having it, and is actually a little scared of Eggabell, as they don't know why she wants them to stay still

•Fungus will learn to trust her, and let her take care of the fleas and rabies and mange

•and when he does, he will never leave her side afterwards. He'll recognise she made him feel better and constantly want her attention

The Journalist

This would be in terms of if Fungus was a character you'd meet;

•You would meet Fungus in Sugarpine Woods, but somewhere far away from Chandlo and Snorpy.

•Fungus would flee from you once spotted (sorta like the Snaxsquach, but not at certain times).

•You would then have a quest to ask around to see if anyone knew what this Grumpus was (and you would receive a resounding "no").

•The puzzle would then be figuring out how to cohearse Fungus into trusting you, which would be with sticks and rocks, making a pile of them to bait Fungus from hiding.

•Once you would have their trust, you would still have quests to complete before they move from their spot and follow you to town, this would include collecting more sticks and rocks, and finding Bugsnax so Fungus can have friends.

•They'd communicate these quests very poorly, you would probably have to rely on the quest descriptions to figure out what the objective is.

•After enough errands, Fungus would make a happy noise and start following you around. Then, if you walk into town, you approach Filbo and he takes Fungus off your hands.

•When you return to Snaxburg, it's in anarchy as Fungus has gotten out of control. Your next objective is "survive". Eventually, through sticks, rocks and leaves, you calm Fungus down enough for them to live in Snaxburg without killing anyone.

•However, some side-quests would involve Fungus, and the other residents having to deal with them now.

I had this neat idea that all this is optional, you don't have to even do the main quest for Fungus because they weren't supposed to be part of the expedition and know no one. So why interview them, not like you can anyway. You can escape Snaktooth with all the normal residents and leave Fungus on the island, then their fate would be left unknown (but man I'd feel guilty for it 😟).

Before I begin I want to make sure to clarify that both Crayon and Cindy were created by the wonderful @thebluescreen so credit for the characters go to them. (we share 3 ship kids universes)

And once again I wanna say : Disclaimer, This Celest and Luna are the children of Cross and Dream. NOT Cross and Shattered Dream. They are a alternate universe version of the Dark cream twins. They should not be confused as being the same.

I'm gonna start with Celest and her husband Crayon.

These two first met when Celest was 11 and Crayon was 12. For them it was basicly love at first sight. Celest and Luna both grew up travelling around the multiverse and that's how the met.

Crayon is a half human half monster who originally came from a dust tale time line. But more about him will come from @thebluescreen

It was an awkward, inconvenient first encounter. Luna had just broken her leg trying to do a back flip off a table (she was a dumb kid) and Celest (who had been learning first aid from a book) attempted to set it. And she made it a whole lot worse. (cross and dream weren't there at the time, they had left them alone for 10 minutes)

Crayon and his friend went over to help luna. The stress of the situation caused celest to throw up a large amount of gloop and then loose her strength in her legs and fall over. Crayon was close enough to her to catch her as she fell and gently lowered her to the ground. They locked eyes and well, they had basically been crushing on eachother since then.

It took Luna locking them in a room together and refusing to let them out till they confessed to do the trick.

They got together when Celest was 15 and Crayon was 16.

The two were very much in love. The slightly over the top, sugary sweet, child hood sweethearts. Used a bunch of cheesey names.

"I love you my sugar sweet snuggle muffin"

"not as much as I love you my cookie cream cuddle bear"

And luna is just the awkward 3rd wheel.

OK so Luna was in a relationship with this monster called Daisy from the age of 16 to 20. Daisy was a bitch, but more on that below.

It was all good till Celest turned 18, she started to get soul pain. Up until this point her sickness had been bothersome, but not to serious.

But after seeing a soul doctor, she was informed that the curruption was starting to attack her soul, and there was a possibility that it would kill her. Of course her and her family were heart broken, crayon included.

Celest went through a stage of being unhappy. The idea that she could die terrorised her. She had nightmares and got stressed to the point of alot of puking fits.

Her main conforts where her sister and boyfriend.

"I just can't help thinking of everything I'll miss out on. Marriage, children...... Travelling the multiverse...... But at least I have you right?"

So crayon responded with.

"then let's get married"

Of course Celest was shocked and was sure she'd misheard him. But then he said.

"you said that you were afraid of missing out on it, but this way we won't! I want to marry you, if you'll have me."

Celest said.

"but we are both so young, you shouldn't have to carry my burden. You have a life to live"

He said

"I want to spend it with you"

And she said yes.

Yay.

They were married just under a year later and where very happy. Cross was alittle sad to see his princess grow up so fast. But in the end they were all happy.

Crayon is truly Celest's rock. He's very sweet and good to her. To him, she is the bright light in his life, with her kindness and smarts.

They normally spend there time curled up watching movies. Or taking trips to aus like outertale to look at stars. Its all very lovey dovey.

For Luna, love was never all that easy. As I said above her first girlfriend Daisy was a bitch.

Daisy was a emotionally horrible person to Luna. Constantly telling her things like, how she needs to summon ecto or she looks like a man. Or how bones just aren't that attractive. How that fact that she was so close to her sister was creepy. In the end it was revealed that she'd been cheating on Luna while Luna had been helping her sister in the hospital. Luna finally dumbed her.

Years passed and Luna would tell people that she was ok and over it. But in truth it left huge emotional scars. She started avoiding committed relationships like the plague.

Over the years she has had a few casual girlfriends, flings and hook ups. But she told people that long term wasn't her thing, Celest knew that wasn't true, but she couldn't force her sister to date someone. It all changed when she ment Cindy.

She meets Cindy when she's 27. Basically, she met Cindy through Crayon. Since Cindy was the best friend of Crayon's sister's boyfriend.

Cinder is a underlust Sansby child and is a girl who knows what she's got and flaunts it slightly. When Luna first saw her, she went into 'oh no she's hot' mode.

Infact this was there first interaction.

Cindy "hi, I'm Cinder. It's nice to meet you"

Luna *gay panic*

Luna "wanna see me do a back flip?"

Cindy "wa-

Luna trys to back flip and falls on her face.

Cindys "you ok there?" *offers hand to help her up*

Luna *takes her hand and is helped to her feet*

So yeah, Luna is very gay.

The attraction was physical to start with. Luna was smitten to the strong, confident, sexy fire girl. Que Luna repeatedly doing stupid things to try and impress her.

The best way to sum it up would be.

Luckily for Luna though, Cindy starts to fall for the goofy cluts. Not only is Luna just a loveable idiot, but she is also quite attractive.

Cindy comes in one day while she's training and watches her spar with Cross and do a back flip successfully. She's a skilled fighter and is just as Good At Yoga as her dad is. So yeah, Luna is quite attractive to Cinder in her own right.

Cindy starts using alot of pet names for her, calling her Moony and Princess. This embarrasses Luna to no end.

So what happens? Well.

After Luna has once again fallen to the ground while trying inpress Cindy and is kind of laying there defeated. The following conversation happens.

Cindy "you need some help there Moony?"

Luna *blushes* "you know I'm gonna come up with an embarrassing nickname to call you, you know!"

Cindy "really Princess?"

Luna "yes! Uhhhhh Cinderella! Ha!"

Cindy "Cinderella? You think I've not been called that before"

Luna "dam it uh... I've got it! Toffee"

Cindy "Toffee"

Luna "yes, like Cinder toffee, and because you really like sweet foods and-

Cindy "and you could totally eat me?" *smirks*

Luna *without thinking* "yes absolutely"

Silence.

And my friend if you don't get the joke.... Its probably to mature for you. This basically causes Cinder to turn up the flirt on Luna, who is very embarrassed about saying that. To Cindy it has basically been confirmed that Luna wants her, and she's into that.

Luna freaks out *thank you gay panic* and yells "I'M STRAIGHT!" and runs away.

Luna then spends the next two days being consoled by her sister. Meanwhile Cindy asks around to find out if Luna is really straight. It is very quickly confirmed to her that Luna is very much gay and very much into her.

She conforts Luna about this and after Luna attmits that she is gay and is about to confess her crush, Cindy pins her to the wall and kisses her.

Long story short Luna gets to eat her and they go to bed together. And after that they become 'causal' girlfriends. It doesn't take to long for there feelings for eachother to evolve from a physical attraction into real love. But they would never confront their feelings.

Texting eachother till the early hours of the morning? just causal.

Inviting Cindy to family Christmas? just causal.

Laying in eachothers arms in bed, not wanting to get up. Just causal.

Who knows if they will ever confront how they really feel? Maybe some unfortunate life events will force them to.

Fun facts about the couples.

Cindy has a whole bunch of pet names for Luna, after they start dating she most commonly calls her Starlight. But has a whole list more

Crayon loves to buy his wife flowers. He's quite a soft man and I like to think he takes great care in picking out a bunch of flowers. He'll most commonly buy her roses. He also likes to prepare picnics so that they can go out to aus together.

Cindy has a huge sweet tooth. Luna has often tried to bake for her. Lu Lu isn't a very skilled Baker though. But if she presents Cindy with a plate of slightly burnt cupcakes splattered with icing, it will make Cinder's heart melt.

Crayon often has to help Celest get dressed in the mornings. Since the marks commonly appear on her arms and legs. Crayon has taken a very long time to practice how to help her dress without causing pain.

Some mornings, especially after they've had a busy night, Cinder will often steal Luna's shirt. She will wear it around the house. "but babe... That's my shirt"........... "I've got no idea what you're talking about Moony".

Celestial star would be the type to call her husband at work out of nowhere just to remind him that she loves him.

The first time they kissed, Celest got so nervous and excited that she threw up gloop all over him.

Cindy loves to roller skate and would attempt to teach Luna how to. After a long time of Luna falling over into many comprising positions, Cinder simply wraps her arms around her waist and they skate together.

Crayon is a half human-half monster, so he can practice some magic. One thing he likes to do is make little figures of butterflys fly around his wife's hospital room when she has to stay at the hospital. It always makes her day.

ceres is all about food, nurturing, family relationships, animals, time-sharing, grief, and transitions/growth experiences in a woman’s life. 

taurus-

dahyun;

growth for dahyun appears when she has built a steady foundation. comfort and security are essential for her, but because of the synastry between her aries sun and taurus ceres, it can be hard for her to feel comfortable achieving it. she may unconsciously sabotage herself because she feels like she has to be strong and impulsive. her personality is fast-paced and energetic, but it tends to wear her out. reassurance is needed to be feel safe letting others take care of her.

physical affection is an important way of relaxation for dahyun. hugs are much appreciated. comfort food is a great way to calm her down. sustenance in general is needed, dahyun can not function if she doesn’t have a high enough blood sugar level. nerves begin to take over if she feels hungry. needs to feel completely secure to fully relax. can’t have anything hanging over her or she won’t be able to slow down. might keep working and working until she drops if she feels she doesn’t have financial stability.

nurturing others comes naturally however. dahyun is a solid presence and can calm people down with just a small touch. her hugs are the softest. seems reliable no matter what she’s going through. because of taurus’s ruling planet, venus, dahyun seems extra loving when she comforts others. people might take her physical touch in a romantic way sometimes.

calming down for chaeyoung means having fun. letting go of all her nerves and fears is like a spa treatment for her. friends are important. she somehow feels extremely relaxed while taking in masses of information. is constantly on the move. her preferred aesthetic is tied to her comfort. she likes the idea of being free to do whatever she wants and have whatever moods she wants.

however, like dahyun, her taurus sun can restrict this vibe. she feels as if the free-spirited persona that she feels most relaxed in clashes with her true self. it can seem time-consuming and exhausting to let go of nerves and fears, yet that’s what her taurus self is constantly trying to do. can sometimes let her fears control her because that seems like the easier option, the one with less drama.

mom material at its finest. tzuyu is a natural at making people feel safe and happy. is always there as a shoulder to cry on and people feel safe relying on her. she does protect herself from relying on others however, and prefers to be the nurturer rather than the on being nurtured. loves the idea of taking care of others and being of service comes naturally. loves kids and wants to help them grow and become the best versions of themselves.

growth happens when tzuyu utilizes her divine feminine energy. being aggressive and impulsive does not help her. growth comes from learning from quick decisions that didn’t end well and learning to slow down and think before acting. however, she doesn’t seem to struggle much with this; she seems to be pretty evolved.

in tzuyu’s opinion, being nurtured by someone means letting out her emotions to the person and them validating her feelings and empathizing with her. she wants to be around people that understand her without her having to explicitly tell them her feelings. observing tzuyu and learning her coping mechanisms is the best way to make her feel loved. prefers to deal with issues on her own or talk to very close loved ones.

nayeon;

nayeon feels comforted by connecting with others and creating partnerships. having people by her side makes her feel safe. ice cream and other confections are therapy for nayeon. friends are important for her mental and emotional health. having a significant other is beneficial as well. not becoming lost in her inner self and staying on the surface is one of her coping mechanisms. doesn’t like to take deep, messy dives into her emotions.

she is incredibly nurturing (such a great unnie) by nature and her way of comforting others is lovely; lots of people are attracted by her motherly qualities. uses her words as a way to help others. possible issues could be that her help and nurturing is romanticized and can be made shallow. people could take advantage of her caring nature easily, as she finds it hard to say no to people in need.

nayeon improves the most when she is “aesthetic.” anything that is pleasing to feel/do is the right path for nayeon. helping out others and being of service in a strong way is going to keep her on the right track. righting injustices is part of her destiny. perfection is always an ideal that’s in mind for nayeon.

sagittarius- 

jeongyeon and momo;

these two release stress by sweating it out. activity clears their mind and stops negative thoughts. they tend to run from their problems at times or procrastinate doing hard work because it can seem overwhelming. not having an escape is what bothers them. however, since they’re both scorpios, this aspect of a sagittarius ceres is restricted and not as apparent. 

having ceres in the same sign as pluto can cause some karma. momo and jeongyeon might have serious issues slowing down and growing boundlessly at the same time. can keep pushing to achieve something they don’t truly find appealing, especially with the aspect between scorpio sun and sagittarius ceres.

good for sana, her ceres sign conjuncts her sun sign, a favorable combination due to the similarities and connection between herself and her relationship with the material world and emotional growth. she needs relaxation and comfort for her well-being and for her personality to shine through accurately. however, this isn’t too hard for her, as the life that she wants to lead is in line with the life that energizes her the most.

sana feels comforted by constructive criticism or a healthy pushing and motivation that keeps her on track but is also sensitive to her moods. her leo moon and virgo mars can make her irritated by others being overly critical or disinterested in her struggles, but loved ones that know her well and can give her support is appreciated. it’s hard to explain, but sana just wants someone who will leave her alone to fix problems herself, but who can give her advice (only if she wants it!) and can empathize without pitying her.

jihyo and mina are destined to experience epiphanies related to self-discovery and individuality consistently throughout their life. they’re perpetually living in a state of learning. working in groups is the best way for them to improve upon themselves. helping others and being of service to the community inspires them. looking into topics that aren’t mainstream are a good way to attract growth too. they might mature backwards or have an up-and-down process of experiencing emotions. 

jihyo may feel misunderstood at times. her way of relaxing is different than others and she may feel as if her moods vary too much from the moods of others. as i said in the first paragraph for this section, jihyo matures at a weird consistency. comfort comes from feeling like she belongs, but is still her own person. needs to be “noticed” but still feel like the underdog? confusing i know. wants to feel needed. being the leader of twice is incredibly beneficial to her health:)

mina can feel lost in terms of comfort. she may not need as much alone time as others, and feels more energized around groups of people, but finds it also wears her out because of the way her energy levels and moods fluctuate. so i take back what i said, she does need alone time. like a balance. but she struggles to maintain that balance. like jihyo, mina needs to feel needed. humanitarian activities and helping the community is good for her emotional stability.

both comfort others by making them feel important. tends to do well in teaching positions and as a mentor. extremely good leaders! they are comforting and know the people around them incredibly well without even realizing it. sympathizing is not exactly their strong point most of the time, they might seem too cold because they don’t want to pity the person, but they do know how to collectively energize a bunch of people and make them feel safe and relaxed.

Max fell asleep I think but I'm just like emotional and crying I feel like I've spent my entire life so chronically lonely begging and pleading for help in the sense that I want someone to see me for what I really feel like i am and genuinely love it and not reject it, like through my art through my fake ego through my obsession with followers and recognition through throwing myself in the arms of awful people who would take advantage of my vulnerability and even when I thought they loved me whether it was romantic or platonic or anything I still felt incomplete like they just werent understanding me and I would just keep trying and trying and trying to make myself tangible to anyone, like, in the way I see myself?? It's really hard to put into words

For the first time in my entire life I feel like .. I dont need to do that anymore. Max is the first person ever to give me a real sense of security (I remember when I first .. felt that emotion genuinely with them I was like shook I was like ,, this is what I'm feeling?????) I dont feel like I'm putting on masks, shaping myself into something for someone else, I dont feel still empty an in need of consuming more and more empty attention from others, I don't need to cry out the way I used to all the time.

Just like that my two decades worth of loneliness just...... over. It's gone. I dont feel lonely anymore. I never thought it was possible

Of course other than..the pandemic keeping me from them physically, I am very lonely physically still......

I feel like.. the ongoing pandemic situation has got me feeling very disconnected socially from everyone in the sense that I'm so tired and hurting all the time.. I havent been doing much art.. I havent had the energy to host fun things.. I want to though, really bad. I dont feel like I just wanna shut down the rest of my social life in favor of my partner or anything like that! I'm just ... I'm a kind of in limbo right now .. I'm kinda.. rediscovering myself, I've never been this person before. This person who doesnt feel like an empty hole, isnt constantly ravaged by the aforementioned agony of loneliness and exhausting pleas for love. This is all so new ...

I think back to trying to cope with my loneliness by telling myself I dont need anyone, and that's a good thing, I shouldnt need anyone .... but well, some people just do. Someone like me does... sure my life would go on without my partner, but I'd like it if it would go on with them, because someone like me just, does need extra special love. I dont think theres anything wrong with being a person who needs a deep, fulfilling connection with someone after all. I dont have to convince myself that I'll never be happy unless I can learn to love myself enough in an empty bed every night..

Anyway...I feel .. after this all ends, the pandemic, the physical isolation from not only max but my friends and family at large, my isolation from social stimulation in the outside world I barely got to taste in a brand new state.. after I get to breathe again I think I'll be ready to evolve from my limbo-esque state and start anew in a kind of way , as this version of myself that feels.. secure and not lonely, cutting back on the amount of hurt I shovel into my social media experience, obvious or disguised, that's just me saying love me love me love me please someone love me

I dont need that anymore. I'm going to be okay even if there is only one person on earth who I feel truly gets me.

hiii bbies it’s me (gabby) finally here again to post this finalized, messy version of isa’s intro! she’s a brand new never-been-played muse of mine so it’s def bound to be a bit more scattered & less developed than ezra’s, but also much shorter? so i mean there’s a bonus lmao alright here we go:

so isadora (also known by many nicknames such as isa, izzy, iz, & dora the explora if ur trying to piss her off vgbjhksjs) was definitely not brought up in a world of prestige and recognition like the one she’s become so accustomed to in attending holloway university

growing up in the small town of lisbon, maine the only reality isa knew during her childhood was that of living as the only child of a woman who was (TW) both a compulsive liar & and compulsive hoarder. their house was floor to ceiling with things her mom collected as well as garbage built up over time- her condition had already driven isa’s father out of the house when she was just three years old, and she never had a relationship with him as a result

she was still fairly young when she realized the true severity of her own situation, just how abnormal it was compared to that of her friends. she missed out on so many rights of passage during her upbringing like birthday parties, sleepovers, etc. for much of her life her own living space / bedroom were just as bad off as the rest of the house, given her mom’s inability to keep from passing her hoarding tendencies onto her daughter. isa simply didn’t know any better at the time. to her, that was normal.

not only was her mom a compulsive liar & hoarder but she was also extremely neglectful, often leaving isa to her own devices in the dangerous environment they called home. as a result of this she (TW ED) developed harmful coping mechanisms surrounding food, regularly overeating to combat negative feelings of loneliness, and this went on from the time she was just a little girl all the way until she was in high school

high school was rough in many ways- she suffered depression, anxiety, experienced bullying at the hands of the more popular kids for her weight & her mother’s financial situation, and was all around extremely isolated from her peers- the only person she really had to depend on was her cousin (WC) . she had so much respect and envy for her cousin, they had more of a sisterly dynamic than anything, she was just so gorgeous and everything she did just seemed so effortless, to the point isa couldn’t help but idolize her and consider her a best friend. 

like, remember when spongebob said he hoped that by being in squidward’s presence some of his artistic ability would rub off onto him? that was deadass isa & (WC) in high school jhbksnjs my girl was so sure if she just spent enough time with her she’d inherit some of her pretty & cool

high school was also where she reached a turning point when it came to her home environment, able to put a name to her mom’s condition after years of struggling with her strained and toxic relationship with her mom, and ultimately changed the rest of her life. she stayed the night at (WC’s) one night and after she fell asleep, isa stayed up watching TLC- it was there that she first discovered the TV show ‘hoarding: buried alive’ and realized there was a name for her mother’s infliction- but more importantly, learned that there was help available for her condition

Isabella:

she is a bisexual trans woman and has been working for years to maintain her pretty high femme image and to learn english! when isabella was evolved, she spoke very little english but very fluent italian, possibly because of the DNA cortex used.  while the doctors were busy trying to make her into a weapon, megumi had to take extra time to teach her english isabella hated the dark and gloom of the castle, and was scared of cortex.  but the other bandicoots were like a light at the end of the tunnel for her, with how kind they were to her and each other.  especially the girls. with isabella associating happiness and purity with the women in her life, she realized she wanted to be a girl instead, so she could be happier.  cortex wasn't a big fan though, since isabella going soft meant she wouldn't make a very good weapon she also met tawna at some point before she left, and tawna was a big role model for her during her early transition.  it's the main reason why isabella and tawna look so similar, because isabella's greatest example of womanhood was tawna in the ps1verse, isabella cheers on the bandicoot team in ctr because they remind her of tawna.  but because she's been brainwashed she doesn't have clear memories of her, just a vague fondness towards bandicoots. in the HDverse, isabella gets to thank tawna for her guidance in traversing her gender, and she becomes more calm yet confident, very self-assured.  she's very meticulous in terms of doing her makeup/managing her appearance, but it makes her feel whole isabella also likes the high life and anything classy.  at some point she dates pinstripe because he seems classy and cool, and pinstripe just wants a trophy girl to have fawning over him

Ami:

ami is a butch lesbian who loves to work out, but she's also dumb as bricks.  she learned to be strong from cortex's other minions (like tiny, koala kong, etc.) but specifically uses her strength to protect her friends and to Respect Women she was created some time after megumi and experimented on to make her strong, like how tiny had been made previously.  it worked partially, making her buffer and more nimble, and especially easily persuaded by power the downside was that it made her horrendously stupid.  like "what animal is the pink panther" levels of stupid.  that worked for cortex though, considering the last time he tried to make an intelligent super mutant, he made ripper roo.  anything was better than roo. she wasn't very susceptible to hypnotism, as megumi found out.  but she was very easily impressed by displays of strength and power, so she soon became friends with tiny and the other buff mutants.  their collective lack of intelligence was great for cortex. in the ps1 timeline, after the trophy girls escape, ami still cheers on most of the villain characters because she admires their strength and thinks they're super cool.  plus she still remembers her friendship with tiny and any friend of tiny's is a friend of hers but in the HD timeline, ami is more friendly with the other bandicoots, and appreciates their friendship.  after megumi helps them escape, ami gets inspired to use her strength to protect her friends instead of just showing off. she's also madly in love with them for being so nice and so pretty, especially after tawna helps her realize she's lesbian

Liz:

headcanon that liz is kinda smart, enough to trick cortex and the other scientists into thinking she was already evil. liz is a bit smarter than both isabella and ami, although she's still of pretty average intelligence at best.  she's very self serving, which keeps her intelligence and character from shining fully. upon her evolution, liz realized that the other mutants were being put through the cortex vortex to become slaves to cortex, and she wasn't really a big fan of losing her autonomy like that.  so instead, she decided to pretend to be a brainwashed mutant and be obedient to cortex cortex was easily fooled by liz's act, as she did a pretty good job of acting evil.  if anything, she already had a bit of a propensity towards the dark side, since she actually liked the doom and gloom of cortex castle  upon the squad's escape, while she did avoid going through the cortex vortex, PS1 liz was still brainwashed by megumi and did lose her memories of cortex castle, greatly changing her personality. she still loved attention, since she did various photoshoots for bandiboy magazine, but she had more of a propensity for the light side now, loving cute animals like pura and polar.  they remind her of creatures shes seen before, but cant remember where from. HD liz however retained her gothic edge.  she loves the lights and glamour of fame and fortune, racing solely for a chance in the spotlight.  but beyond that, she loves to spend her time in the shadows...

Megumi:

Evil Megumi headcanon time!  since megumi hands out trophies to the scientists in the original CTR, it makes sense she would secretly be evil.  so I imagine her as a pseudoscientist named Dr M. - MC was probably never as stupid as she was this time. On one hand she was as brave as one can be in this situation but on the other hand she did constantly run stupidly into danger without even so much as preparing for a worst-case-scenario

- At some point I was wondering if MC existed in this world and just everyone forgot how she looked and how her voice sounded and stuff. That at least would explain Victors reaction upon their “first meeting” and the fact that Gavin and Helios couldn’t help but protect her and that Lucien was seeing colors again for a moment when his eyes were following her… but that would be simply too easy I guess

- Overall I was a bit… bored, to be honest. It was not like the plot was boring… its just… we didn’t get anywhere with it, if you know what I mean.

- Chapter 19 was supposed to be a happy dreamworld that MC made up, but while it worked like that for Victor (I can’t shake the feeling that this man always gets the special treatment – no complaining tho, I love him) it was a total failure when it came to Kiro who ended up doing what he also did in the real world, leaving MC behind and then acting like a jerk towards her as Helios (BTW… did you notice his magic still works on her? When she tried to ask him if he was Kiro she couldn’t even get the words out) which certainly wasn’t what she would have wished for. So what was chapter 19 even for?

- Chapter 20 established that MC has been forgotten by anyone but the guy she once met in a bus. A guy who, at the moment, raises more questions instead of answering some. We’ve seen Helios, Gavin and Lucien at their worst and Victor… being so much like Victor that it is a mix of comforting and confusing. (And also screaming “Danger” because it gives you a fals sense of security when it comes to him.)

- Chapter 21 gives us the boys coming to MCs aid despite not remembering her, while we figure out that Evolvers are now hated and that there are people who want to see them dead at all costs. And while Lucien was the only on in this chapter who did not try to save Mc, as he almost kill her instead of helping her, he at least did show us that apparently, Black Swan currently kills the Anti-Evolver-Guys… which… if you think about it, is not so bad. Anyway, the chapter ends with giving us some false sense of security by MC gaining some confidence and Victor calling her “Dummy” like in the god old days… before all hell breaks lose.

- So… what did we gain from the chapters? Did we get any answers? Any conclusions? Honestly… I am really unhappy knowing that we are very likely stuck in this setting until at least the end of chapter 24, because as far a I am concerned right now, those chapters were the least interesting ones for me so far.

With current events being what they are, we are all in need of some serious distraction. In the interest of something to do, I’ve come up with some weekly headcanon challenges that people can participate in as actively or casually as they please.

The dates themselves are more like guidelines than rules - this is not meant to add pressure or stress to anyone’s day but provide a fun exercise to keep the dash busy and alive throughout the course of a tough time.

There are no rules to how many challenges you need to complete per week and nothing stopping you from completing week one during week four or, if you’re just not feeling a week’s theme, doing another week entirely. It’s all up to you to have fun at your pace!

For multimuses, you can answer with a different character each day, or run a death march round and try and do something each week for each character! I would not recommend trying to do everything for every character, since there’s no trophy for it but hey - you do you!

[ April 07  -  April 18 ]

This week will be longer than the others in order to compensate for time spent spreading this around and for the fact the idea didn’t come to me on a Sunday. This week’s theme is origins and first experiences. 

April 07 - Describe your character’s earliest memory. 

April 08 - How was your character raised, and by whom? How did these early influences impact them?

April 09 - What was the first skillset your character picked up? ( Reading, cooking, running around like a sheer hooligan --- )

April 10 - How did your character get educated? Are they self taught, home schooled, tutored, private or publicly schooled? What were their best and worst subjects? 

April 11 - What were the things your character most wanted to learn, and were those topics covered or did they have to research them independently? 

April 12 - Describe your character’s first encounter with injustice and how it impacted or changed their worldview. If it wasn’t the first encounter that caused a significant paradigm shift, detail one that did. ( And maybe cover why the first one didn’t cause any shifts! )

April 13 - The first time your character performed a selfless act - did it come naturally, or under a sense of internal or external pressure? Was it the start of a trend in consistent selflessness, or avid avoidance of needing to be selfless? 

April 14 - The first time your character broke a rule - what were the consequences and how did this shape their view of responsibility?  

April 15 - The first time your character lost someone important to them, how did they cope and who did they turn to? How did the aftermath shape their view of loss and recovery? 

April 16 - The first time your character displayed proficiency at something naturally, indicating their potential to be great, were they proud or nervous? How did the response of others impact their view of the budding skill? Did they become great? If so, how do they feel about it now, after those earlier experiences of expectation? 

April 17 - The first time that your character encountered something they couldn’t explain, how did they handle it? Did they investigate, pretend they hadn’t seen it, ask someone for help? Is this normally how they handle situations that confuse them now, or have they evolved to display other responses over time? 

April 18 - What was your characters first fear? Are they still afraid of it?

[ April 19  -  April 25 ]

This week’s theme is seemingly insignificant details that other characters might pick up on and maybe use in threads as a way of demonstrating how well they know your character!  

April 19 - What are their go to foods? Their go to drinks? What small things do they do to modify things ( lemon with their tea? just honey on their toast? won’t eat berries without a small sprinkle of sugar? ) that other people might pick up on, and learn to prepare for them. 

April 20 - What scents are most associated to your character? Are they always chewing peppermint gum? Do they carry a satchel full of fragrant herbs? Is there a perfume profile they cultivate? Do they smoke? Wear a lot of leather? Work with oils ( masseuse, mechanic, boatswain, all very different smells there ) Drink a ton of coffee or alcohol? Have pets? Ride horses? All thoughts to consider ( and tons more ) to develop what your character smells like. 

April 21 - When your character dresses in the morning, do they have any signature items that might be notable? Always a gun holster or sword sheathe on the left side, forever finding a way to incorporate a particular color into an ensemble, notoriously missing the top button on their shirt, a family ring? If there isn’t a specific thing, what about your character’s style is memorable - how would you describe what they wear? Are they always formal, buttoned up and prim, or do they prefer a casual, even rumpled look? If someone were to see a Certain Profile on the street to immediately think of your muse, what would the profile be?

April 22 - Let’s talk signs of stress - what are your character’s tells? Do they move their hands more or less? Do they become physically agitated or seemingly lethargic? Talk faster, talk less? How would their friends and colleagues know something isn’t right?

April 23 - Personal passion or hyperfocus your character has that they know a lot about and are always happy to talk about that someone could bring up as a means of distracting your character in a stressful or emotional situation?

April 24 - Something your character never has enough of or is constantly misplacing ( pens, hair ties, etc ) that a Good Buddy™ should keep spares of to offer up in times of need?

April 25 - Secret Santa time! What gifts are always sure to please your character, or at least show that Santa has some observational skills.

Week 3

[ April 26  -  May 02 ]

For this week, lets explore the psychological profile of your character by digging into all the things that really make them tick. 

April 26 - Is your character ruled by their heart or by their mind? Do they respond emotionally to situations or do they take time to think things through analytically before taking action? 

April 27 - What are their pressure points? ( Things that set them off ) What techniques do they use to cope with stress and trauma?

April 28 - Three moments that they would alter if they could. ( A great way to invite AU opportunities through threading those moments differently later! )

April 29 - What are your characters core values? The things that guide their behavior and decisions. 

April 30 - What books, authors, quotes, films, plays or other influential mediums hold a significant impact on them? Why do they enjoy those things, what is their overall significance on their lives? Are these the things they turn to in order to cope, nostalgic pieces they hold on to, or things that helped shape a world view? 

May 01 - When making risks assessments, what to they weigh in? When do they throw in the towel and go all in, what to them is a safe gamble verses what is low risk for high gain and vice versa?

May 02 - Do they have any idols or heroes that they look up to and aspire to be like?  What does their best self look like?

Week 4

[ May 03  -  May 09 ]

Jumping into lighter topics, for this week we’re going to look at happy memories to remind ourselves that no matter what hell canon ( or lets face it, we writers! ) has put our character through, they have had good times too. 

May 03 - What is your character’s happiest memory?

May 04 - When thinking of happy memories, who features most often in them? Is there a particular place or person that recurs most often when your character thinks on the good times?

May 05 - If someone else were to think of your character at their happiest, how old was your character and why was that time so joyful?

May 06 - Happiest memory involving an animal? Be it their pet, someone else’s pet, a zoo moment - something that sparked joy and had animals involved.

May 07 - Talk about the best prank they ever took part in, or remember observing.

May 08 - Describe a time when your character went out of their way to make someone else happy, and how it worked out. 

May 09 - When they are feeling down, what things do they do to cheer up? Are any of these things related to happy memories or nostalgia?

[ May 10  -  May 16 ]

Bouncing off our happy memory high, characters who may be more withdrawn, depressed, grumpy or just plain unsociable might be feeling confident enough to give us a look into their accomplishments, goals, and insecurities - so let’s dig in while they’re still malleable!

May 10 - What would your character claim as their greatest accomplishment? Would others agree, or say something different?

May 11 - Detail a time your character was undermined and how that impacted them. Do they no longer try, or do they just try harder?

May 12 - If they could choose what they were known for in the world, what would they want their legacy to be?

May 13 - What motivates them to keep going when things get difficult? 

May 14 -  Talk about a time when your character let their insecurities get the best of them. Did they learn anything, or did it only exacerbate the problem?

May 15 - Are they proud of where they are today or are they still fighting toward a goal?

May 16 -  Everyone has weaker subjects - does your character experience ridicule for their struggles, internally or externally? What areas do they struggle most in?

For this week, we’re going to take a look at the relationships that impacted and molded our character into who they are today!

May 17 -  Who comes to mind first when your character is asked who is most important to them? Why does that person stand out so much?

May 18 -  Discuss someone who brought out the darkest sides of your character and how those feelings impact your character now.

May 19 -  Discuss someone who changed, influenced, or significantly impacted your characters views on religion, karma & luck.

May 20 -  Discuss someone who changed, influenced, or significantly impacted your character’s views on justice & vigilantism.

May 21 - Who comes to mind first when asked who shaped your character? This person doesn’t have to be the most important to them, so much as someone who molded their perspectives in some way - be it a teacher, a family member, a lover or even an enemy. 

May 22 - Who does your character rely on the most? Are there others they could rely on? If so, why is that the person ( or people ) they go to? 

May 23 - Who challenges your character the most? Who makes them take on difficulties and forces them to grow most often? Are they friends or rivals - a bit of both, or neither? 

Week 7

[ May 24  -  May 31 ]

This week’s theme is wishes and dreams, which is an opportunity for muns to stick bait on a hook and fling it onto the dash for some more fun interactions! 

May 24 - A character you would most like to have yours interact with, and three ideas for start up interactions.

May 25 - 3 to 5 songs that you would love to build a thread around in some way, be it inspired by the vibes or the lyrics.

May 26 - Due to a series of unfortunate events, your character is stuck on an island with (1) other person. Who do you think would be the most challenging and entertaining for your character to be stuck with? Feel free to list multiple options!

May 27 - Make a list of 5 - 10 sentences guaranteed to get a visceral response from your character and invite your followers to send them in.  

May 28 - That very particular idea that you don’t know if anyone is interested in? Today’s the day you’re going to post it. Yes, that idea. Even if you’re not sure how to formulate it into something concrete - post it as a poem, a drabble, a stream of consciousness - do it for the catharsis of breathing life into it, however brief. Who knows, maybe you’ll get a bite! 

May 29 - 3 to 5 obscure / rare characters you would like to see and maybe a bit on why you think they would be interesting - a little blurb that might inspire another to pick them up!

May 30 - 3 to 5 genres, aesthetics or concepts that you would love to explore with your character. Make them as big or as contained as you like - remember, this is bait, so make it juicy! 

May 31 - Tag 5 people — I’m kidding. Take today off for self care, or post how your character self cares and pat yourself on the back for even reading this far! And absolutely treat yourself if you did even one of these <3 I hope this was at least a little fun for folks!

first of all: the fact that Green canonically has a rivals to best friends arc with Red fills me with so much joy and YES they are on their alolan honeymoon you cannot convince me otherwise

okay like. gen 1 Green just perfectly encompasses what it’s like to be a ten year old in a way? like ofc he’s written like a kid bc he is a kid, but i feel like the writing on him just feels so genuine as compared to some of the other 10 yr old rivals you get in other regions. even though he’s kinda a brat at the start, he kinda eases up a bit as you go along your journey and starts giving you progressively nicer/more praise-y end lines when you beat him (going from “i picked the wrong pokémon!” to “so, you are ready for boss rocket!”) but still retains this childlike rivalry and competitiveness and i love that about him

and like. fucking beating him at the Indigo League still completely breaks my heart because even after he did become the champion at age 10 the first thing that happens is you beat him and Prof Oak just yells at him for being bad at things and like. ow. 

this is why i headcanon that Red actually took awhile longer to get to Green like please. please give my boy a chance to be happy and proud

also Red was caught up with Team Rocket anyway so i imagine he must’ve fallen a little behind at some point? anyway

the development on him across regions is so choice!!! he’s so much more mellow and even kinda melancholic when you find him in gsc/hgss, like he’s calmed down over a few years and he obviously misses Red so much but like, it’s clear that Red is kinda the reason Green does settle down and he seems to have worked on his character and become a nicer person - and he still has that sassy flair to him! he’s just got that gradual slope from asshole rival to kinda aloof gym leader to friendly/sassy battle legend and aaaaa i love my boy so MUCH

also huge point: he’s so fucking driven??? he’s got the most drive and the most passion for battles/pokémon in general out of all the rivals i feel. he’s only closely matched by Silver, but Silver seems to be more aggressive than passionate, and somewhat out of necessity too (like, Giovanni abandoned him what was he to do), whereas Green just really like. he genuinely just cares so much about battles and about pokémon in general! he literally calls you in hgss and just rants about how many different kinds of pokémon there are in the world!!!

also in Alola he’s like???? just so sweet?????? he congratulates you and is like hey you’re really strong lets battle like!!!!!!!!! supportive boy!!!!! he has come so far over so many generations and i cry

also on Four Island when you play frlg he legitimately says “Be smelling ya!” when he leaves and how do you not love this idiot

i mean. while i get that you beat Green right after he becomes the champion in the kanto games i feel like there should’ve been more pomp and circumstance for him and i’ll never forgive gamefreak for giving this boy his dream, then making you rip it away from him, and then watching his own gramps yell at him for fucking up like. again it’s that drive, i get why Red keeps such good pace w Green but i just feel like he worked so hard and he deserved so much better than that

while Red is still living on Mount Silver, Green is not coping well with having him so far away, and so Green massively overworks himself to the point that he keeps just not being in his gym sometimes bc he’s bouncing between the gym, training multiple teams, pokémon research, and ofc going to visit Red whenever he can. this leads him to be kinda temperamental after he’s been working on 2 hours of sleep a day for like a week until he just has an emotional meltdown and crashes, and then he gets right back into it because he has no self preservation

…….. nicer headcanon; Red can only cook two (2) foods, so Green cooks all the food for them when they move in together. he has attempted to teach Red how to cook, but Red pretends not to understand so Green will keep making him food. Green knows Red is faking it and doesn’t call him out bc he thinks it’s cute

look i’ve played through classic red version a few times and when i say he wasn’t that much of a jerk, i do genuinely mean he was not that much of a jerk. he’s like ten. ten year olds are just Like That. i guess this isn’t too unpopular anymore but it was Back In The Day and in some parts of the fandom he’s still seen as a jerk and like Bro He Is Ten In RGB/FRLG cut him some slack

favorite thing about them

by now i guess you know im a sucker for character development, but i think they did a really good job with her!! i feel like her turn is a bit more in moments than it is with Green, who gradually evolves (lol) over the course of Kanto/all the gens overall. you see more discrete moments where Lillie starts to shift and gain confidence in herself and i am so proud of her ???? like the way she gets excited when she sees Olivia doin’ her z-move stuff, she starts buying her own clothes and getting ahead of you, etc etc

and like, she still has moments where she’s scared, there’s still some fundamental Lillie in there yknow? you don’t lose any of that softness that characterizes Lillie, she just like… she gets better, she develops without losing her Lillie vibe and i love that abt her. she overcomes a lot of the shit she had to deal with when she was stuck with Lusamine, she stands up to Lusamine eventually, and ghfdkjsg gah she’s a sweet gorl i love and appreciate her

also like. the writing on her backstory is so subtle in-universe. like yeah she literally looks like Lusamine’s daughter and you see her in the opening cutscene leaving Aether, but as the protagonist - like as Selene lets say, there’s little hints about where Lillie came from, and if you suspend your disbelief and put yourself in the pc’s shoes, there’s subtly to her character arc that i like 

also like. when she changes her outfit and starts being more protagonist-y, like more confident and kinda bubbly instead of shy??? love that shit it’s so cute can i have custody of this child pls

i like. sometimes feel like she’s too soft of a character for me to really get into? like i love her and Hau, they’re sweet good friends, but i tend to personally gravitate towards characters that create a little more tension (ie Green and N)

(though on that note, Hau can be kinda savage. he just calls Faba out and sarcastically calls Gladion “a ray of sunshine” at some point i think?? Lillie is just very tender and i will support her forever, but i think that also makes her almost too soft to keep me fixated on her yknow. it’s not even a flaw in her character but just not something i fawn over as much)

like that ending kills me but that line almost feels like. I Feel That So Much like i feel so happy to have met all these new characters and to have played these games, and i feel like some of the player’s energy and enjoyment of the game is channeled into this last line of hers

pt iii. points of improvement

i’ve been having some trouble figuring out how exactly to go about this next chapter of growth in my life. i’m attempting to let loose a little more, take things as they come and take them constructively, but easy. there’s definitely advantages in formulaically guiding your growth, knowing specifically what you want and trying to create a way to get it. this is what i’m used to; this is what i know how to do. but somehow, i feel intuitively that i’m currently in for growth that’s spontaneous.

i’m 18 now and it’s 2020. i’m starting my second semester of college. i didn’t expect to be where i am, mentally, physically, emotionally, or spiritually. i love being in control, but i am oddly finding comfort at the moment in letting go of that control and floating. i want to be shown realms i’ve never seen before and meet people i didn’t know could exist. i want to be challenged to think outside of what i know and grow in ways i don’t expect to. it’s really important to me to know what i want. but instead of solidifying my goals and paving my path right in this moment, i want this period to uncover to me what i really want. i don’t have a tangible outline of my future, but i’m excited for the journey of creating one. and i know through it, i’ll learn things i never even thought i needed to know.

everyday, i continue finding my truth. i constantly question the things i think, say, and do, in order to grasp a deeper understanding of why i am the way i am. i have trouble compromising absolute authenticity; i always need to be true to me. sometimes, i have to think twice and revise impulsive comments or thoughts, or make changes to my behavior, because i don’t feel like i’m upholding myself genuinely. it matters a lot to me that i am honest, real, and sincere. those are the things i value the most.

and so, despite being excited to free-spiritedly discover, roam, live, and grow, i have to keep in mind that there are things i have learned and noticed in the past couple of months that do still matter and do hold true to me. living with my head in the clouds, running around my new universe that’s doubled in size, and letting myself go instead of holding on tightly, i realized that i can get caught up in a multitude of convoluted things that don’t necessarily represent me and aren’t necessarily important to me. the theme of my life right now is to be free and feel okay being free, discovering and uncovering things instead of looking for them. but remembering to bring myself back down to earth is the only way not to lose myself in the process, or become somebody i’m not. i have to stay grounded and committed to who i am, because that is so important to me (and because i know i can). i am capable of simply evolving into a more refined version of my core self, even if, at the same time, i flip my world upside down, change how i live and interact with society, and reorient my aspirations and dreams.

that being said, i haven’t been completely myself in the past couple of months. and i didn’t hold myself to my usual standards of being myself because it had been first semester freshman year of college. this was a transition period that i needed to give myself. but needless to say, i could’ve done better. maybe i didn’t do as much mental preparation as i should’ve, because it was a fucking rollercoaster. i fluctuated from having some of my highest highs to lows that i forgot could exist and back. and for the first time in a long while, i didn’t feel in control, like i had no grasp at all on my mental instability. one minute i’d feel on top of the world and the next i’d be falling apart. i was so unsure of what was good for me and what was bad. i just took things as they came and let them hit me like a truck.

my hopes for winter break were to truly process and regain my ability to be in control. my time at home was meant to be therapeutic, to remember who i was before i left and all the things that i ran away from. now that i feel like i’ve done that, it’s clear that lots of things have to change for me to do better. these are parts of me that are points of improvement, crucial pieces that make me up that i’ve let loose these past couple of months. this is me regaining me.

i. self

personality reform is hard. most of the time, you know who you are and you’re sure about it. so, when you try to revert to staying true to you, it feels like mere readjusting. other times, you hope you haven’t already lost bits of yourself in flux.

i’ve been primarily working on my patience and teamwork abilities in the past year, as well as how i deal with setbacks and results that i don’t expect to receive. these things have only gotten better and better, which i am happy about. i’ve been able to continuously push my threshold for tolerance and navigate the dynamics of the different teams i’ve become a part of.

the main thing i’ve noticed first semester is that i’ve lost a little bit of my down to earth-ness - and it’s weird to say that because being down to earth is something i value so much. the person i project to others, especially to people that don’t already know me like the back of their hands, is more intimidating and intense than ever before. maybe this is a product of my found confidence, or maybe a continuation of my ability to have a conversation. i’m no longer shy and that’s apparent now. i stopped being hyper self-conscious and stopped caring so much about what people thought of me. on one hand, i’d categorize that as a strength of mine. on the other, it’s led to more oversharing than i’d like, a lot less consciousness of what i appear to be like.

social media is also once again playing a role in this. being in la has definitely made me more aware of who i am materially (which i’ve come to appreciate as a good thing, even though it’s simply a lifestyle i don’t really understand). aside from trying to create a pretty instagram feed, i’ve also gotten into the habit of oversharing on my finstas. not that i mind keeping those close to me updated. i just find difficulty constructively solving my own problems when i externalize them instead of internalize them - and that’s something i have to keep in mind.

i guess what i’m saying is that i need to relearn how to project the person i want to project. people only need to see so much. and that much for me, is not a lot.

ii. professional life + extracurriculars

academically, i’m impressed by how well i managed to do. i got a 3.9 gpa, which entails straight As and one A-. i didn’t even know you couldn’t get A+s. the point of improvement, however, is that i didn’t throw myself 100% into my work. i wasn’t doing the most i could do. i hadn’t paid attention every time i should’ve. even though it doesn’t seem to matter much grade-report-wise, it matters to me that i wasn’t giving it my all.

the other thing is my health. my physical and mental health are tied, and i seemed to let that slide. fencing practice hurt so badly, but i knew how rewarding it’d be. creating reasons to skip practice made me feel unworthy of taking on the sport in the first place. in addition, i went to the gym maybe once in the very beginning of the semester. my body doesn’t look all that different per se, but it definitely doesn’t feel good perpetuating the inactivity. now that i’m back on my game, i remember just how much a little activity could do to clear my head.

the last thing is that i need to do more things that help me grapple with my future career paths. how do i integrate my interests to ultimately do something that i truly love? i guess i’m still seeking out extracurriculars that help me find this meaning; i guess i’m still learning.

iii. society

i have never felt as introverted as i have in college (and you’d really expect the opposite). what i’ve learned is you really can’t escape people on campus. you’re living with other college students, constantly surrounded by other college students, and inclined to interact with other college students. having complete alone time is almost impossible, unless you make the effort to leave campus.

in all honesty, i quite like the social aspect of college. this environment is an aspect of college i was really looking forward to. but i’ve also had to reevaluate how much time to myself i really need, what i say to invitations to excursions, and if i’m recharged enough to engage in interpersonal interaction. this has been a challenge, and i hope to get better at it this semester. i need to remember it’s a balance between my need for me-time and healthy portions of social interaction.

another part of this is who do i want to surround myself with. my intuition and my ability to read people give me good advantages in filtering the population, but it’s also proven to me that making friends that i really do vibe with is pretty difficult. it’s strange because even though you’re surrounded by people 24/7, finding the ones you’re really in tune with is still incredibly hard. i know it’s a matter of being patient, though. i forget that it took me a few years to meet some of my greatest friends from high school. i suppose it is fate.

Hey! I've noticed that you do these "actor interpretations" for the actors of Dear Evan Hansen. They are all really good interpretations and I wanted to ask if you could possibly do one for all of the Evan actors that you have seen up to this point. I know that I am asking a lot out of you, but I would be very appreciative! Your reviews are so in-depth and I love reading them all!

Just want to say, this ask absolutely made my day! Thank you! I’d be more than happy to do more of these. They’re a lot of fun for me :D This one is going to be more specifically about the different actors’ techniques to convey Evan’s personality, but if you want one that’s more about Evan as a character, feel free to ask! 

Michael Lee Brown - So MLB was the first Evan I ever saw, and he will probably always be my favorite. The biggest thing that stands out with his interpretation vs most of the others is that MLB’s Evan is unquestionably autistic. All the Evans seem to have a nervous tic, but with him, it very clearly crosses into stimming. Constantly moving his hands, toying with his backpack strings or his tie or the cast. Seeking sensory input all the time. Very obviously making his worst decisions when people are yelling, ie. sensory overload. Those are just a few examples out of many, but I think you get the point. I’ve made lots of posts before breaking down why Evan is a better character if he’s on the spectrum, and I truly believe making that canon is the best way to go. What’s also really nice about MLB is that he has faith in people liking him. Some other actors try way too hard to be likable, in fear that Evan’s choices will make the audience hate him. MLB knows that if he clearly establishes Evan as a good but flawed person early on, then by Act 2, he can kind of be a jerk and not lose the audience’s support. And he is a jerk, especially towards Jared, and that makes for a very interesting show. If Evan is always a victim, then it’s just two and a half hours of the world beating up on a kid with anxiety. If Evan is clearly the cause of most of his own problems, especially in Act 2, it becomes so much more compelling, because there’s suddenly much more depth to both Evan and the people around him. Also, his chemistry with Mallory Bechtel is beyond anything I’ve ever witnessed in an onstage pair. I actually think the Evan/Zoe romance is pretty badly written, but they make it work. They look at each other with this powerful, innocent adoration. It’s the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen.

Colton Ryan - I was lucky enough to see the show almost exactly a week after the first time I saw it. Ben Platt was out for those two weeks, and MLB and Colton went on alternating days. So, the second time, I got Colton, and he made for an entirely different show. Much like Michael, a lot of his Evan comes from the physicality, but in a very different way. MLB’s Evan, up until the orchard scene, always looks like he’s not quite sure how to hold himself, and he usually takes up a lot of space. Colton starts out very intentionally making himself as small as possible. Hunched over, eyes on the floor, arms pulled in or wrapped around himself. He also speaks more timidly and quickly, like he wants to get talking to people over with. Sometimes, he even stutters. His Evan is definitely not on the spectrum, but is the best representation of crippling social anxiety I’ve seen. As the show goes on, he grows more confident and his posture gets better, he becomes more expressive, and he radiates this energy that always comes with newfound confidence. When the truth comes out, though, you physically see him wither, right back to how he was in the beginning, and it’s only then that you realize just how much he’d changed. Another interesting element to his Evan that is entirely out of his control is his appearance. An argument could be made pretty easily that Colton is the most “conventionally attractive” of the Evans. He looks like the kind of kid who’d be really popular in high school, and the fact that he’s not gives a pretty clear indication of just how scared and withdrawn he is. And, it makes his sudden popularity and relationship with Zoe feel a little more empty, but (unfortunately) much more realistic.

Taylor Trensch - Poor Taylor was wildly miscast in this role. It’s not his fault, at all. He just wasn’t a good choice. His voice didn’t fit the music style, and it’s painful listening to the vocal damage between his first and last show. He’s also been out of high school for a long time. Where the others were recent college graduates, Taylor has been out of college and living adult life for so long that he seemed to struggle to convey what it’s like to be a teenager. He always acted either too young or too old, and like I mentioned with MLB, he tried way too hard to make the audience like him. Even if it made the other characters’ reactions make no sense, he constantly made Evan the oblivious good guy who smiled his way through every poor decision and genuinely adored his mom and saw Jared as his best friend and put all his energy into the Connor Project. Everyone’s sudden anger at him in Good For You seems out of left field, and there is no satisfaction when his mom apologizes, because it feels like it doesn’t fit. He clearly tried his best, and he seems like an incredibly kind person, but Evan Hansen just wasn’t the right role for him.

Roman Banks - God, I love Roman, and I love everything that comes with his Evan. There’s something so powerful about the Connor Project being entirely made up of black kids, after the original version of the show was so overpoweringly white. As for his performance, he seems to have taken a lot of cues from Ben and MLB, in his physicality and his line delivery, but he did definitely add his own spin on things. His Evan is so sweet and you just want to hug him, always. He’s quiet and shy, but super friendly. That’s the biggest change between MLB and him. He’s a lot nicer and has far less of an edge. But why does it work with him, but not with Taylor?  Well, instead of being cheerful and friendly because that’s just how he is, Roman’s Evan is clearly terrified of not being perceived as nice. It’s essentially a coping mechanism. If he’s nice to everyone, he won’t get hurt. So he feels like he has to be sweet all the time, and when it becomes impossible, he gets frustrated. When he fights with his mom, he’s upset because she’s not getting it, but he’s also not trying to help her get it. I think he works very hard to be so kind to people and feels put-out when it seems like others aren’t putting that effort in. He’s naïve and definitely doesn’t understand others as well as he thinks he does. Something about him, more than any of the others I’ve seen, genuinely feels like a teenager. And this was his debut performance. I would love to see him become the full-time Evan or the alternate after MLB is gone, so he could have a chance to really grow and evolve, because if he was already that good, I can’t even imagine how amazing he could become.
