WELL ha ha prepare for a rant fellas. ok so the guitar ive wanted the most for the longest would be a Danelectro 59X:
ok at first it's cause i wanted to play kashmir and white summer n stuff on it and then i got into pink floyd and was OVERJOYED because syd plays one as well! so you see i have been pining for one for like 2 years and saving up but man they are expensive and hard to get BUT i mean LOOK AT THOSE LIPSTICK PICKUPS, such a jingly bluesy chiming sound, you don't get that from other guitars, but man such RANGE and such a cool looking guitar i mean wow!!! i sound like an advertisement for one i think but it would certainly be a worthy purchase it's just i'm pretty sure americas the only place to get one, so that's why it's a dream guitar lol
#yep certified rant#but i am still pining especially for one with a tremolo#godddd When the Levee Breaks slide would go so hard with those pickups#just to be clear this is not because of pink floyd n led zeppelin (well partially) but i really am fascinated by the sounds of these pickups#i'm thinking if i can just get a cheap tele i can replace the pickups or something which would still sound and look awesome#anyways#guitar#asks#danelectro

London - 11 Nov 2022
This is a very late post but I had a lovely trip to London last month on 11-13 Nov! I procrastinated sorting through the photos but now I'm finally getting to some of them before I go again in two days.
These will be for the Queen memorabilia I got to from the three Hard Rock Cafes in London (location links attached)! You can click on each picture to see them in full. Please do not repost these photos!
1. Hard Rock Hotel London (Marble Arch)
My first impression of the hotel - it's fancy! It was lively and there were a lot of security guards standing by. But the ground floor area is pretty much open for public, because it's a hotel, so it was accessible for photos.
This lovely piano sits in the center of the hotel's front lobby and impossible to miss.
Freddie Mercury This humble Kirkwood piano is a true piece of history. It was in Freddie Mercury's Middlesex home in the mid '60s - shortly after his family arrived in England from Zanzibar. A teenaged Freddie played this piano while dreaming of the superstardom he'd achieve in just a few short years.
The back of the case which the piano sits in has a lovely photo of Freddie, which sadly I didn't get a picture of, so this one above is courtesy of Bianca Dodeanu who posted on Google Maps.
While the piano was the most famous Queen memorabilia there, I went to the restaurant to see if there were any more and I found this! As it was peak dinner-night-out hour, there were people sitting below it and I couldn't take a very clear picture - this was my best (left).
The description photo on the right is courtesy of Tina Vogelzang who posted it on Google Maps.
Queen In 1963, legendary Queen guitarist Brian May built his famous "Red Special" guitar with his father. It has been his main instrument throughout his illustrious career. In fact, Brian is the only notable rock musician who has forged a style with a completely homemade instrument. This Guild BHM1 model is one of the few officially-authorized, commercially available versions. It was manufactured in the '80s and signed by Brian May himself.
2. Hard Rock Cafe (Old Park Lane)
Next I went to the Hard Rock Cafe in Old Park Lane. This location consists of two separate places - the restaurant and the Rock Shop. I went to the restaurant first - it was significantly smaller and cozier than the other two I visited. But it was the best one for me, because this wall alone has three Queen memorabilia!
This one I think is my favorite among everything else!
Brian May - Queen Worn by Brian May while he was in a band called "1984" (C. 1966 to 1967)
This guitar is pretty amazing but I was wondering why on Earth it was put on display without any protection whatsoever. It was hung quite low on the wall, it would be so easy to get damaged. It's a shame that the signatures have all pretty much faded as well.
Queen Incorporating layered guitar and vocal effects as well as possessing one of the most dynamic frontmen in rock history, Queen was widely accepted by fans who were previously loyal to such bands as Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. This Fender Stratocaster was signed by all the members of Queen, including the late Freddie Mercury.
Lastly, this is a RIAA Gold Certification for Jazz.
Presented to: Radio One to commemorate the sale of more than 500,000 copies of the Elektra Records long-playing record album Jazz
After the pictures and dinner at the restaurant I made my way to the Rock Shop. It's in a separate building, and the basement level houses The Vault, which is a small museum of rock 'n roll memorabilia. There were a lot of high profile items in there but only one was Queen-related.
The Vault experience was apparently a guided tour. I barely made it like 20 mins before closing time and there was no other visitor, so I got myself a personal tour lol. My guide was very knowledgeable with a great sense of humor, I had a really great time!
Freddie Mercury - Queen Embracing the exaggerated pomp of progressive rock, heavy metal, as well as vaudevillian music hall, Queen created a huge, mock-operatic sound with layered guitars and overdubbed vocals. Apart from being one of the most flamboyant and entertaining frontmen in music, Freddie Mercury was also a keen collector of oriental antiques! This magnificent chair was owned by Freddie Mercury.
If anyone can translate what's written on the chair please let me know!
3. Hard Rock Cafe (Piccadilly)
My last stop! This place is quite big - I asked if I could go in to just take photos and I was let in lol. There was only one Queen-related item here but I love the screen display of Freddie, a very nice showcase.
Freddie Mercury - Queen The one and only Freddie Mercury used this Shure 565 microphone on stage. This model was Freddie's preferred mic for live use.
And that's all for my Hard Rock Cafe visits in London! I did all these in one go so it was a really fun night. I will also post the rest of my London photos where I visited Queen-related places very soon (hopefully)!

Top 25 Albums of All Time
Scott Welsch
Criteria:
Every song on the album must be attractive for listening. No “skippers” on the album. No, “Eh, that song kinda sucks” on the album. *Greatest Hits albums ARE NOT acceptable for this list. (This rule devastates me, as it disqualifies Foo Fighters)
2. The album/music/lyrics should still be relevant (and listenable) today.
3. The artist can’t just be for a specific crowd or followers (e.g. Jimmy Buffet, Grateful Dead, Moody Blues, etc.).
4. There is no need for the album to have won any awards or previous recognition.
5. I could have easily made this a “Top 100”, but I have a life.
TOP TWENTY FIVE ALBUMS OF ALL TIME:
#25 Billy Joel — Glass Houses
I played this album at bedtime growing up. I listened to side one, flipped the album, then listened to side two until the needle lulled me to sleep by making the “click click” noise at the end of the record. The album features Billy Joel’s first song to reach #1 status on Billboard (Still Rock and Roll To Me).
#24 Guns n Roses — Appetite For Destruction
My best friend in the 80s said to me, “Have you heard of this new band?” and handed me a cassette tape (in 1987). I listened to the entire cassette from start to finish the first time, and thought to myself, “Oh, man. These guys are gonna be huge.” Sure enough, Guns n Roses became one of the best-known names in modern rock. Their debut album (Appetite) has a buffet of glorious songs to listen to. Repeatedly.
#23 Elton John — Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
Elton John released this album as a two-disc set because he ended up writing and recording more songs than required by his recording company for the release. His creativity had kicked in full force (and then some). He recorded it in Jamaica (the country, not the neighborhood in Queens, NY).
#22 Red Hot Chili Peppers — Blood Sugar Sex Magik
The Chili Peppers’ fifth studio album, BSSM pushed them into mainstream. Prior to this album, the closest they had gotten was with a Stevie Wonder cover of Higher Ground on the Mother’s Milk album. No one has ever duplicated the variety of melodic undertones created by the combination of acid-rock, soul-funk, early alt-rock, and blues style on BSSM.
#21 Billy Idol — Billy Idol
Billy Idol’s debut album, released in 1982, was an absolute success after his breakup with the band Generation X. The song Dancing With Myself (track 11 on the 1983 reissue of the album) was actually a song originally recorded BY Generation X (with Billy Idol on lead vocals). It was a retail failure when released with Generation X, but when Billy Idol re-recorded and re-released it as a solo artist, it went mainstream.
#20 The Police — Zenyatta Mondotta
This was the last album The Police recorded by combining their reggae and punk music style before they switched to a more “popular” music style. Songs like Canary In A Coal Mine and Bombs Away had innuendos of political undertones, while Don’t Stand So Close To Me and De Do Do Do De Da Da Da were more lackadaisical and humorous.
#19 Van Halen — Van Halen
This album is an anomaly. Van Halen is a very well known band. They produced twelve albums. Yet, this is their debut album and has their legacy songs. The album has reached Diamond status by selling over ten million copies. It has one of the best-known guitar instrumental songs in history (eruption).
#18 Nirvana — Nevermind
This is my nod to the Foo Fighters, since they are not eligible for the list. Nevermind was the cork that popped and brought alternative rock (as a whole) into the mainstream. It basically created a whole new genre of both musicians and fans.
#17 Lynyrd Skynyrd — (Pronounced Lĕh-’nérd ‘Skin-’nérd)
Well…Free Bird, of course. I don’t need to write any about this album more than that.
#16 Pink Floyd — The Wall
I used to just listen to this album and watch the movie because it was the cool thing to do. Then, once I picked apart the meaning behind both (the music and the screenplay), it was totally eye opening. Pink Floyd was successful at concept before concept was cool.
#15 The Doors — The Doors
The Doors recorded this album in less than a month, yet it will inspire musicians for centuries. Critics often rate it the best album of all time.
#14 Rainmakers — Rainmakers
The Rainmakers self-titled album epitomizes my “100%” criterion. Every well written song tells a story, either historically or humorously. Also, The Rainmakers made rockabilly cool when no one knew what rockabilly was.
#13 Rush — Moving Pictures
With so many amazing Rush albums to choose from, it was difficult to pick just one. However, the rules of my list narrowed it down to Moving Pictures. I have spent countless nights in my life listening to this album from start to finish. Although Side B has no songs that ever received radio play, they are still AMAZING songs.
#12 Linkin Park — Hybrid Theory
This debut album launched Linkin Park into their river of greatness. Linkin Park was initially rejected by 42 recording agents before recording Hybrid Theory and becoming one of the all-time greatest alt rock bands.
#11 Beastie Boys — Licensed To Ill
Licensed To Ill is one of the fastest selling debut albums in history. It gained Diamond status (over 10 million copies). Some claim that Licensed To Ill is the best punk rap album ever released.
#10 Van Halen–5150
5150 was Van Halen’s debut album with Sammy Hagar as lead singer. Each song has crisp, clear instrumentals and incredibly well written music. Although the album received negative reviews from critics, each song creates different feelings and scenarios with the tempos and feelings. I know, I know. Van Halen is already on this list. However, as stated: this album is with Sammy Hagar as lead singer. The previous one was David Lee Roth.
#9 Violent Femmes — Violent Femmes
This was Violent Femmes debut album. It was the party album of the eighties. Every partygoer knew every lyric to every song. The Femmes had one of the most distinctive sounds of the times and remains an enduring classic. The minimalism and simplicity of their music created the attractiveness, and their lyrics are a drug.
#8 New Order — Substance
This is a compilation (2 disc) album. NOT a greatest hits album. It contains a ton of great New Order music. The only reason I made the exception (of “Greatest Hits”) is because it has a “B” sides disc included with many unreleased, 12-inch, and dub versions of the original songs. For New Order fans, this is a gold mine.
#7 The Who — Who’s Next
There are so many great tracks on here. The primary reason this one made the list is Baba O’Riley. This song (often mislabeled as Teenage Wasteland) was originally 30 minutes long. I would have had no problem with the song being that long.
#6 Prince — Purple Rain
Purple Rain had innovation that was unheard of in the early ’80s. For example, When Doves Cry does not have a bass line. The consolidation of R&B with rock was a new concept. Lastly, Prince’s guitar playing on this album was out of this world.
#5 U2 — Joshua Tree
Bono’s “great romance” and fascination with the United States served as the inspirations for The Joshua Tree. I wonder if Bono would have found today’s United States as inspirational? One of the BEST songs on this album- Running To Stand Still.
#4 AC/DC — Back In Black
This is one of the best-selling albums in history. It is AC/DC’s leanest, meanest album of all-time. It will always sound timeless and simple, yet savagely crafted.
#3 Led Zeppelin — IV
This album defined not only Led Zeppelin but the sound and style of 70s hard rock. It encompassed heavy metal, folk, pure rock-and-roll, and blues. This album not only served as a cornerstone but also a turning point for the future of music. Just don’t ask a guitar player to play Stairway (or Freebird).
#2 Nine Inch Nails — Downward Spiral
It’s no surprise that Trent Reznor collaborated with Jane’s Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins on this album. The instrumentation throughout the album is amazing. Every song leads into the next (it should, as it’s a concept album). Just don’t listen to the lyrics too closely. It could prove very, very depressing!
#1 Pearl Jam — Ten
Ten was the debut album from Pearl Jam in August 1991. Although most consider Pearl Jam a “Grunge” band, the album is more classic rock music. Most of the songs on the album began as simple instrumental band jam sessions that Eddie Vedder then wrote lyrics to go along with. The songs on Ten, despite their deep, dark lyrics, will remain on playlists for generations to come. Ten is powerful, insightful, deep, dark, thought provoking, and brilliant. “Why is the album named ‘Ten’?” you ask, when there are eleven tracks on it? Jeff Ament’s (the band’s bass player) love for NBA point guard Mookie Blaylock provided the inspiration. Blaylock’s involvement in a tragic car accident hit Pearl Jam like an injury to a family member. Blaylock’s jersey number was — you guessed it — Ten.
HONORABLE MENTION:
Steve Miller Band — Book of Dreams
This album has a few legendary songs on it: Jet Airliner, Swingtown, Jungle Love, and True Fine Love. The only reason it did not meet the cut is because it has some “eh” songs on it. However, a host can play this album straight through at a party or a get together, and no one will complain.
The Cars — The Cars
This is an amazing album. Clean, crisp guitar. Ric Ocasek’s vocals and lyrics are powerful. However, two songs (I’m In Touch With Your World and Dontcha Stop) prevent this album from meeting the “100%” criterion.

Hey, how you been? For the unusual(ish) asks: 3, 18, 20, 23 Sending loveee🧡🧡🧡
I've been good, thank you!! Sending love baaaccckkk!!!💕💕💕💕💖💖💖
3. Rant. Just do it.
So I was planning to rant about the state of everything, but no one wants to hear about that including me...
So I'm going to rant about personal stuff that also no one wants to hear about!
1. I am a very white chick in case you hadn't noticed.
2. I have very thick and coarse hair for a white chick with wavy-ish hair.
3. It grows very fast
Sounds like a dream come true right? No. Because it knots to high heaven and I have a scalp condition! So I have Seborrheic dermatitis which makes my scalp extremely sensitive, itchy and dry. So I have dandruff, BUT it also makes my hair greasy a lot faster. So, dry scalp that hurts to brush out giant knots or scratch the itch and my hair looks gross. Unfortunately, the kind I have is hereditary, so I can't fully get rid of it, but once I was diagnosed I have special shampoo that helps a lot and a spot treatment for when it flares up worse.
Remember that thick hair I mentioned? So the shampoo that I use doesn't lather very well making it hard to get right to my scalp. It's even harder to lather if my hair isn't 50% water. So to make sure my hair is wet enough for the special stuff to lather I wash my hair with normal shampoo first, then rinse out, then I rub special stuff untill my fingers are sore to get it through to my scalp. Then I leave it in while I body wash and shave (that thick coarse hair is all over my body which SUCKS I go through razers like no body's business. Luckily it's blond though). Then wash that out to condition (remember the knots). After all of this it takes my hair 8+ hours to just air dry completely. Lately I've been in a towel turban for a couple hours which helps, but yeah. My dad says one day my hair is just going to mold, and I honestly wouldn't be surprised.
The hole that my knee caps sit in are very shallow, so I've dislocated one of them twice leading to surgery to get it fixed, but it could still pop out which makes me nervous. It hurts when I run sometimes, and I'm still playing soccer which is how it got dislocated twice to begin with, so that doesn't really help.
My skin scars very easily. My mom has had the same type of surgery on both her knees (a scope instead of cut all the way open) (totally different problem than me though) and you can hardly see her scars. I had my surgery a couple of years before one of her knees and you can still see my scars clear as day (they are raised and still a bit purple) and you really have to search for hers.
Also: I got so burned yesterday. My skin is almost purple in some spots it's so red. And for some reason no one can figure out, I have a circle of white that didn't get burned on my leg that's surrounded by burned skin... So that's interesting.
18. Rant about your favorite musician
Uh, most of my favorite musicians are extremely old or dead unfortunately and I never really got into their lives.
I don't know if I can really rant, but shhdakcduejenskajs... I love their music so much. You should listen to these people. They are all so unique, they all bring their own skill and style to the world, and I really connect to their lyrics and music more than what's being made today. To be honest, most of the popular things sound the same to me...
So, artist recs: White Lion, Simon and Garfunkel, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Guns 'n' Roses, Styx, Rush, Journey, Toto, Asia, Metallica, Kansas, Foreigner, Ace of Base, Evanescence, Led Zeppelin, Def Leppard, Boston, Bon Jovi, Eagles, Duran Duran, Billy Joel, Queen, The Who. There are a lot more, but that's a really good (long) list.
20. Describe your blog on 3-5 words.
Marvel, fics, friends, me!
23. If you could choose one bad habit to break, what would it be?
So the one I would really like to break is super embarrassing and I should have broke it as a child, so I would rather not share that one. But the next one is picking at the skin around my nails. If anything looks out of place or dead I pick at it to fix it... I make myself bleed more often then not😅
Thanks for the ask!!

Castiel’s music taste + Crowstorm’s sound: a headcanon by moi
alt title: i was bored
ok so this is my first time doing something like this, and english is not my first language so pls bear with me
the other day @mycandylavynder asked what Crowstorm would sound like, and then @principalshermansky made a post with examples of what type of music they think the characters listen to (check it out! it’s great), which got me wanting to compile everything i can find regarding castiel’s music taste and crowstorm, to see what the game points to as castiel’s music
disclaimer: this is not to say that one headcanon is more valid than other, because at the end of the day everyone can think whatever they please, specially about a fictional character in a fictional band. i just thought it would be fun to do this.
let’s take a look at Castiel’s room as seen in episode 40 of high school life:
there are three bands that can be easily identified:
Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side Of The Moon poster on the wall
Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols album by Sex Pistols among the cd’s on the shelf
The Rolling Stones logo on the pillow
according to the My Candy Love wiki page, Castiel’s favorite music genre is grunge. tha trivia also says that his favorite band is Winged Skull, but since it’s a fictional band there’s no way to know which kind of music they play, although i’d guess it’s a heavy metal band due to the name and logo.
let’s break the four bands we know he likes (and the albums that appear on the picture) down to the basics:
PINK FLOYD (UK, 1965-1995) album rock, progressive rock, art rock, hard rock, british psychedelia, psychedelic garage. - The Dark Side Of The Moon (1973) hard rock, progressive rock, psychedelic garage.
SEX PISTOLS (UK, 1975-1978) punk, new wave punk, british punk. - Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols (1977) punk, new wave punk, british punk.
THE ROLLING STONES (UK, 1962-present) album rock, british invasion, contemporary pop/rock, hard rock, regional blues, rock & roll, british psychedelia, psychedelic garage, blues-rock, british blues, dance-rock, early pop/rock, am pop.
based on the information so far, we can assume a few things about Castiel’s taste
he seems to like rock music from the 70s
there’s a prevalence of british bands, but that might just be a coincidence
his taste might be summed up in the following genres, since they seem to be the most relevant ones: - punk, new wave punk - hard rock - blues-rock - rock & roll - psychedelic garage, british psychedelia - dance-rock - album rock - grunge
but what do all these genres mean? good question:
the 70s & rock music
aside from disco, funk, smooth jazz, jazz fusion, and soul, which remained popular throughout the decade, rock music played an important part in the Western musical scene, with punk rock thriving throughout the mid to late 1970s. other subgenres of rock, particularly glam rock, hard rock, progressive, art rock and heavy metal achieved various amounts of success.
highlights: (aside from the four bands already mentioned) Led Zeppelin, Queen, Kiss, David Bowie, Aerosmith, Joy Division, Fleetwood Mac, Black Sabbath, The Velvet Underground, Alice Cooper, The Ramones.
punk
a simple melody with three chords, but louder, faster and more abrasive than any other rock genre at the time. although bands like The Velvet Underground and The Stooged had a similar sound in the mid 60s, punk didn’t become its own genre until the mid 70s.
highlights: The New York Dolls, The Misfits, Generation X, Blondie, Talking -Heads, The Ramones, The Jam, Buzzcocks
new wave punk
where post-punk was artsy and difficult, new wave was, simply put, pop music that retained the vigor and irreverence of punk music.
highlights: The Police, The Cars, Blondie, Talking Heads
hard rock
hard rock is loud, aggressive guitar rock, but it isn't as dark and menacing as heavy metal, and it's rarely influenced by punk. it is (for the most part) exuberant, party music.
highlights: Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Janis Joplin, Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Guns N’ Roses, Queen, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Queens of The Stone Age
blues-rock
blues-rock didn't fully develop into a subgenre until the late 60s. it emphasized two specific things: the traditional, three-chord blues song and instrumental improvisation.
highlights: Fleetwood Mac, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, ZZ Top
rock & roll
in its purest form, Rock & Roll has three chords, a strong back beat, and a catchy melody. it drew from a variety of sources, primarily blues, R&B, and country, but also gospel, traditional pop, jazz, and folk.
highlights: Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, The Who, The Beatles
psychedelic garage
instead of the concise verse-chorus-verse patterns of rock & roll, artists used free-form, fluid song structures. they also incorporated elements of Indian and Eastern music and free-form jazz to their sound, and experimented with electronically altering instruments and voices.
highlights: Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Jefferson Airplanes, Grateful Dead
british psychedelia
british psychedelia was more whimsical and experimental than its American counterpart, and it tended to work within the pop song structure.
highlights: Pink Floyd, Cream, The Beatles
dance-rock
dance-rock was born in the mid 70s, when bands experimented with the simpler rhythms and heavy groove of funk and disco. they relied on keyboards and drum machines or used the standard guitar-bass-drums format of most rock bands, but they were performed many songs in a way that made them apt for the dancefloor, with simple, heavily repetitive choruses or hooks.
highlights: Queen, David Bowie, INXS, Duran Duran, Eurythmics, Talking Heads
album rock
the one thing that tied all album rock artists together was their dedication to the album as the vehicle for their music, as well as certain artistic aesthetic and constant exposure on FM radios. this broad criteria made it a fairly diverse genre.
highlights: Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, The Who, Queen, Janis Joplin
grunge
hybrid of heavy metal and punk, grunge music adopted the lyrical approach and musical attack of punk. it had three waves: the first one was heavier, drawing from early 70s metal; the second one began with Nirvana and it’s more melodic sound, as well as distorted guitar sound that became a genre convention; and the third wave that came with Nirvana’s mainstream status, when grunge lost many of its independent, punk connections and became the most popular style of hard rock in the 90s
highlights: Green River, Soundgarden, Mudhoney, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains
to be clear, dividing music into genres is a complicated matter, and even more so is trying to reduce someone’s music taste in genres, since it is entirely possible to like wildly different music as well as dislike certain bands that fit the same category or certain songs from the same band. this is all just meant to show an inclination that Castiel seems to have in order to see what kind of music Crowstorm might be influenced by.
that said, let’s get down to businees. what do we know about crowstorm?
popular and well-liked
has music videos that sometimes feature actors
at least one of their songs involves a piano (according to candy on ep3)
people dance to their music
the members (or Castiel, at least) have given interviews on radio
based on that, we can say that Crowstorm:
has mainstream appeal
has at least some danceable songs
taking into account the info about Crowstorm & Castiel’s inclinations that might influence his music, here are a few examples of what i think some of Crowstorm’s songs could sound like
(danceable songs, “mainstream” radio music)
Head Staggered - That Petrol Emotion // Blue To Black - That Petrol Emotion (this band is influenced by The Beatles, Buzzcocks and Public Image Ltd., all of them from the 70s/80s and within the genres Castiel seems to like)
Some Like It Hot - The Power Station // Murderess - The Power Station (influenced by Led Zeppelin, similar to INXS and associated to Duran Duran)
Never Let You Go - INXS // Mystify - INXS (popular dance-rock band)
Are You Gonna Be My Girl - Jet // Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is - Jet (influenced by AC/DC and The Beatles)
(hard rock/blues rock songs)
Young Lust - Pink Floyd
Voodoo Child - Jimi Hendrix
Whole Lotta Love - Led Zeppelin
this is just my headcanon based on what the game says tho, but i am someone who personally believes that canon and canon “evidence” don’t really matter in the end, so although Crowstorm’s music seems to fit the dance-rock criteria, i ultimately prefer to think of them as a hard-rock/blues-rock band with a bit of punk and psychedelic garage influence.
so why did i even do all of this if i don’t really care in the end? i don’t know, but it was really fun and it kept me busy.
anyway, if you got to this point you might as well tell me your own personal headcanons regarding Crowstorm’s music! feel free to reply, reblog, tag me in your own post or hit me up via inbox
TL;DR: based on what seems to be Castiel’s music taste and what we know of Crowstorm, the band might make dance-rock/hard-rock music and might be heavily influenced by bands from the 70s. but at the end of the day canon doesn’t matter as long as you are having fun, so if you want Crowstorm to be a goth-rock, nu metal band it might as well be!

Fanfic: Did You Notice Me?
Pairing: Brian May x Reader
Set: London, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day
Warnings: Just some inappropriate comments here and there and an innuendo.
I believe this will take you half an hour to read, please enjoy...
It was the last night of December of 1974, a chilly one. You and your three girl best friends, Katie, Penelope and Anna, have been roaming the streets of London in high heels, short dresses, faces of light make-up and -at least- warm winter coats for and hour or so, when you finally decided you should get in a club. It was 22:30 after all, and very soon the next year would dawn. You picked one that wasn’t so popular between the masses, but it was well known between the musicians and fans of the British music scene of the time…
Just as you entered the club, you noticed a group of four young men who had just published their third studio album and were cornered by many other girls, fans that is, because the only thing the boys seemed to be interested in, was talking to them politely so they wouldn’t offend their very own fans. Apart from that, they seemed uninterested in those girls.
You quickly averted your attention elsewhere because you didn’t want them to notice you, especially the lanky guitarist, whom you had longed, for quite some time now. So, you and your friends headed to the bar to order some alcohol.
About an hour had passed, the atmosphere was constantly getting better, and the music was more electrifying with each passing second. The four of you were moving around, slightly dancing to the music, when all of a sudden the song playing is changed, and you recognize it being one of your favourites. So you hurry to the center of the dance floor, while still on the short intro. Just as the singer starts singing, the lyrics match your state of being and serve your purpose. “Here I stand, look around around around…” And you really hope that Brian will notice you dancing in synch to one of their newest hits, and he might get the message as well…
After the song fades out you quickly return to your friends with a flushed face. Anna scans the crowd, locating Queen, and informs you, the four of them are chatting with each other, while looking towards your direction, seeming quite interested this time.
You managed to calm down in the following minutes, let the excitement subside and the four of you have returned to light chatting and dancing when the music slowly fades and finally stops completely. Then it is time for the countdown. 1974 will soon be upon you.
“10… 9…”
For some seconds you lock eyes with Brian May, but quickly resume counting with the rest of the crowd.
“4… 3… 2… 1… Happy New Year!!!!”
Everyone is on the dancefloor celebrating 1975 while electrifying music returns, this time with The Rolling Stones’ Can’t You Hear Me Knocking. You head outside for a little bit to get some fresh air and unwind from the tension a little, leaving behind your friends and everyone else dancing. Or well, not everyone, someone is closely following you without you taking notice of them.
You leant on the club’s brick wall, cool wind blowing in your face and hair. You observed your surroundings, but then averted your attention to that night’s clear sky full of shining stars.
You continued observing the outer space from your spot down on the earth when you jumped scared in the sudden hearing of an unfamiliar voice. “Happy New Year!” You hadn’t noticed the presence of the other person out there. Still, when you turned to face him, you knew exactly who he was. A light blush crept up your face, but it was hardly noticeable due to your make-up and the minimum amount of light the moon provided.
“Oh, Brian, you scared the hell out of me. Happy New Year!” you replied first nervous then smiling.
“So you know who I am,” he flashed you one of those smiles that are able to melt your heart “but I don’t even know your name. Care to introduce yourself ??”
You wished you could tease him a little, not telling him your name, but you couldn’t resist him. “My name is (Y/N), nice to meet you in person !!” you winked.
“Nice to meet you too, (Y/N)… How did you end up out here ??” he inquired you.
Well, I needed some fresh air and ended up here looking at the stars. Ain’t a great night for stargazing ??”
“Hmmm, that is true… But since it’s a bit chilly out here…” the guitarist started by averting his brown eyes to gaze at his original workfield before Queen occurred, but then his voice trailled off awkwardly.
But you were more than interested in what he had to say… “Yes..??”
“ Well, (Y/N) I thought I should suggest since you clearly already know some things about me, but I just know your name and that you are a great dancer, if you would be interested in going inside, getting a table and chatting a bit more ??” he proposed.
Your response was a simple “I would love to !!” So you headed back inside the club.
Brian led the way and found a quiet spot where you could sit down and talk, this time with background music, you paid attention for a few seconds and recognized Led Zeppelin’s Black Dog.
But the tall musician interrupted your thoughts when he spoke up again… “So, (Y/N), do you work somewhere ?? Or are you still studying ?? I’m sorry, I can’t guess your exact age.” he stared right into your eyes with a shameful expression, although you thought there was no reason for him to be ashamed, you had to admit to yourself, it was cute.
A grin appeared in your lips and you answered his question “I’m 24, and I am in my last year studying History. How about you Brian ??”
“Well, I am 27 and I was studying Astrophysics, but the band is doing good at the moment, so I halted my studies…” his voice trailed off in that last part of the sentence and the curly guitarist seemed a little concerned about your reaction to the fact that if Queen fell apart soon, he wouldn’t have anything to do and should return to college, but you weren’t thinking about that.
“I see, speaking of Queen, I think you guys are doing a great job !! I love your songs !!” you exclaimed. This time was Brian’s turn to blush at that comment.
“Thank you, I am very glad to hear you do, what other artists or genres do you listen to (Y/N) ??”
“I like The Beatles” Brian’s face lit up in excitement in the hearing of these words “The Rolling Stones, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, actually almost every today’s and yesterday’s artist” you added with a playful wink. “But I also like Jazz and Blues artists and songs.”
“You seem to be up to date with what is going on in the music industry then !! Do you have a favourite (Y/N) ??” asked a fully engaged in the conversation Brian.
“To be honest, yes, I do. And it is the truth… Queen. You guys are my favourite band.” you replied without colouring your voice, just telling the sincere truth. Nevertheless, that simple comment made Brian’s cheeks turn crimson red, and him both extremely happy and terribly shy at the same time, not able to utter another word.
A few moments passed by with Brian fiddling around, wondering what he should say, but you started laughing erratically so he just stared at you confused and now wondering whether you had been playing a game all along.
“Oh Brian…” you managed, but you continued laughing, not able to speak.
This time, however, Brian managed to regain his composure and you had to, too.
“(Y/N), I don’t like people playing with me… I liked you and I wanted to get to know you, but I won’t keep this up if this is a joke.” Brian stated with that authoritian voice only he could manage, quite angry this time, and you knew you had to calm him down again and set the record straight.
“I can imagine, and I am sorry I started laughing, I just found hilarious the fact that you couldn’t believe your band is someone’s favourite. I am not playing with you, in fact I hate being played on so I would never do that. On the contrary, I believe I must confess something…” you added, hesitation audible in your voice.
“I am listening (Y/N) !!” Now Brian was very interested in what you had to say, still very careful though and even if you wanted to, you couldn’t get away with not telling him.
However, before you could continue, Katie appeared out of the blue and exclaimed “(Y/N) !!! Here you are at last !! It’s been more than an hour since you left us and we were worried. Hi Brian, I’m Katie, (Y/N)’s friend.” she introduced herself.
Before you could respond and although Brian was a little taken aback by Katie’s sudden invasion he replied with that oh so calm and polite attitude and voice of his, nothing to remind you of the way he was previously using when he spoke to you, a way that made you feel somewhat guilty, a little like a small child being scolded at. “Nice to meet you Katie !! Your whole group of friends seems to know me. Do you need (Y/N) ??”
Katie dismissed the offer with a wave of her hand but also said “No, we were just wondering what happened to her. And of course we know you. Like she ever shuts up about Queen !!” she added an eye-roll to emphasize. “Okay, so I’m going back to Penelope and Anna. Later guys !!” and with that she left.
Meanwhile, your face couldn’t have been redder with shame, you wouldn’t dare look Brian in the eyes and wished the earth would open then and there so you could vanish for ever.
Brian was really amused with this turn of the tables. He was also convinced you weren’t lying or playing with him, and that relaxed him and made him happier. Now he had the upper hand, and since you wouldn’t dare to speak yet, he started a little monologue.
“Okay, (Y/N)…” he started, and your eyes, without you being able to control them, like they were experiencing some sort of strange gravity, fixated on Brian’s brown ones. “You have to thank Katie, because now I believe you really like Queen and the only reason you were laughing was because you did found funny my reaction, and not because you were playing with me.” The only thing you managed, was a sigh of relief. “Still, this feels insincere. I feel like every reaction of yours is well thought out and perfectly calculated. I must admit I felt something for you when I saw you dancing to Now I’m Here that is why I tried to get to know you but it feels like a trap. I want to hear what you have to say about this, but please tell me the truth. Not just a part of it, all of it.” He clarified, and now you had to defend yourself and be honest or you could lose him. This put a great burden on you and you were close to crying, still you had to be strong.
You both looked into each other’s eyes as you spoke, and Brian noticed you were on the verge of tears, without saying a word about it nevertheless.
You took a deep dreath and started telling Brian your side of the story. Your voice was a whisper, barely audible. “In that case I have to start from the beginning of my story. Moreover, I want to thank you for allowing me to tell you everything before you make up your mind…. Well, I listened to your first album, Queen, and I was amazed. The sound was so originally, different than what I had ever heard before and your songs spoke to my soul. So, I wanted to see you live. I once came to a gig of yours and you, Brian, caught my attention. I kept an eye and an ear on your work ever since, and I’ve been to a couple of your shows as well. I was thinking about you day in, day out. I fell in love with you, in fact, I still am. As for today, I didn’t know you would be here. We just chose this club for the night. As we entered, I saw you were here. When Now I’m Here played, I did what I would have done even if you weren’t present, but I also saw it as my chance to catch your attention. And, boy, I did, apparently. When I went out, I just needed some fresh air, I hadn’t noticed you followed me, but I was happy you did. I do know a lot of things about you, yes, and I guess that was what made it insincere, but Brian I am infatuated.” You finished that off and a tear you had been holding for too long fell out of your eye. You were anticipating the reply, you were really nervous, afraid it wouldn’t be what you wanted to hear. Every second passing, felt like an hour. You didn’t even dare look at Brian anymore, you had just put your head down, hoping for an answer.
Brian was processing what you had told him for a couple of minutes. When he finally came up with what he thought was an appropriate response, he spoke these exact words.
“(Y/N), look at me. There’s no reason to be like this now. No matter what I am gonna say, you said everything, so the matter isn’t in your hands anymore.” In the hearing of those words, you looked the guitarist straight in the eyes again. His words were soothing, even though this could mean that he would reject you. “I want to believe what you just said, is true. And I do, I believe you, because I had noticed you all three times you came to our gigs, even though you always stayed in the shadows, you always sang along, knew every word to every song and you did caught my attention back there, so I knew some things about you, too. I just didn’t know your name or anything else, really. I want to get to know you better, but since we are both equally attracted to each other, would you like to be my girlfriend (Y/N) ??” he did speak some words you had fantasized of hearing, but never thought you actually would.
A stream of tears ran down your face, when all the tension that had built-up during this short time-span vanished. “Oh my, of course I do Brian !! Yesss !!” you exclaimed happily.
You fell into his warm embrace, and the both of you stayed like that for some minutes. Brian carefully dried your tears, in order to save your make-up.
Brian was the one that finally broke apart that embrace, and suggested you went to meet his bandmates. John, Roger and Freddie. You agreed withought a second thought, it was your favourite band after all, and added you should go to your friends as well. So you headed to them first.
You made your way through the crowd hand in hand. You had to admit it was less crowded now, but it was half past three already.
“Brian !! Do you know what time is it ?? We have been talking for so long we didn’t notice the time that passed. It is half past three already !!” you repeated, this time out loud, since you couldn’t quite believe it. You finally found Anna, Penelope and Katie chatting without stopping, even for a breath.
“GIRLS!!!” you shouted in order to be heard. All three turned around to face you and were genuinely surprised to find you side by side and holding hands with Brian, even though they knew you had longed him for over a year now, and Katie had seen you talking some time ago.
Penelope was the first one to overcome the shock so, she spoke first “Guys, (Y/N), Brian tell me you are together now !!”
“Yes Penelope, we are. Can you believe it ??” You confirmed her suspicion, still trying to process the fact yourself yourself. “Oh and Brian, this is Penelope, and that is Anna. You already met Katie.”
“Nice to meet you girls” he said, flashing them a smile. “Shall we go the boys now ??”
“Fred, Rog, Deaky, what did I miss ??” Brian asked when you had found them.
“Ah, nothing special, dear. Just some hook-ups” he added, flashing a naughty wink, and although Roger didn’t seem to care at all, John blushed heavily. “How about you Bri ?? You’ve been missing for hours. I was just starting to worry and I would come searching for you, unless another hook-up occurred…” Brian rolled his eyes at that somewhat inappropriate comment of Freddie’s, and Roger chuckled.
Meanwhile you just stood there, by Brian’s side, smiling. You were a bit taken aback, meeting your favourite band in person, while being in a relationship with one of its members was surreal.
Before Brian could introduce you, Roger jumped up from where he was sat and introduced himself. “Hi, I’m Roger. So, who are you pretty girl ?? You were the one dancing to Now I’m Here, weren’t you ??”
The band was even more quick to respond to each other, before you could even utter a word. “Rog dear, you are right, she was the one.” Freddie added before he turned to face you, “Darling you have amazing moves, rhythm, you were completely in synch with Rogιe’s drumming and, I must add, a great taste in music !!”
This time it was Brian who spoke up “Fred, I don’t know about that last comment about the great taste in music. Her favourite band is ours !!” He teased the arrogant frontman. “And, well, this is (Y/N), my girlfriend !! Do you remember I had told you that in three of our gigs there was a girl that remained in the shadows but shone even from there ?? This was her !!” There were some exclamations from the guys, but this time all of them fell silent for you to talk.
“I am standing in front of my favourite band, okay, so…. All of you seem to know about me, too, Brian !!” you teased your new boyfriend, poking his side. “Well, Freddie thanks for the compliments, and, I must say, I have a soft spot for the drums, so it was unthinkable of me to not be in synch with them. Nice to finally meet you Freddie, Roger and John.” You left the boys behind too.
“Bri ?? Shall we dance ??” you suggested.
Brian seemed hesitant “I am not a really good dancer (Y/N)…” the guitarist replied, biting his lip.
“Ah, Brian !!!” you pouted. “Look around you… Nobody is going to judge you or really care about your abilities !! You should be dancing for fun, this isn’t a competition.” you smiled sweetly.
“In that case, let’s go dance !!” Brian seemed more happy and relieved now.
You two headed to the dancefloor. Now the DJ had slowed the pace, playing more romantinc songs. You started moving around slowly, embracing each other, while Something, the quiet Beatle’s song played. You stayed like that till the end of that song and then broke apart that embrace but continued dancing, facing each other to Touch Me by the Dooors
When you stopped dancing you decided you would like to return to Brian's home so before you broke apart you decided you would meet outside the club. Then you separated ways and the guitarist headed to his band while you went to your group of friends to grab your purse and coat. Before you headed out, you gave your girl friends some insight of your conversation with Brian, and then headed out to meet him again.
The two of you left the club, leaving behind your friends. You were walking the, usually crowded and noisy, but now so quiet and calm, streets of London. It was so peaceful, the festive atmosphere made your walk back to the curly guitarist’s home, so romantic. Brian had his hand draped around your back and resting on your shoulder. You were chatting, informing each other about your lives, everything you could think of. The stars were shining brighter than you had ever seen them shine. Both of you were blissful, just enjoying the moments, taking in as much as you could.
After walking for about 20 minutes, you tuned right once more and got in the second house of that block. It was a small but beautiful little house, with a garden. Brian fumbled with the keys and the lock, and once he managed to open the door he let you in. After he closed the door, he leant in and kissed you. It was a quick, sloppy kiss, but it was your first one.
First thing you did when in the house was preparing some tea, then you sat on the sofa draped in a blanket each, chatting, laughing, getting to know each other. When it finally dawned you were tired but very happy.
You got up, still draped in your blankets and headed to Brian’s bedroom, closed the curtains, discarded the blankets and your clothes. Brian whispered in your ear “You’ve been starring in my dreams...” You and Brian fell on the bed, but no matter how tired you were, sleeping isn't what you were planning on doing...
I hope this didn’t have any spelling or grammatical errors, but I’m sure it has. Anyway...
