plagiarizing of tian guan ci fu

okay, so i just got back to my twitter timeline after binging new amsterdam for a while to find it entirely on fire because someone out there plagiarized the entirety of tian guan ci fu and claimed it as their own work. unfortunately i am not kidding and they seem to be profiting off of it as well so this is a serious issue.

i will try to make a post containing all the information i’ve gathered from my twitter timeline so far, and i will try my best to put it in chronological order.

someone is claiming they wrote a novel called “the third ascension” and is claiming it is their own work. i’ve included a screenshot of the synopsis of the novel which is very obviously just a copy paste from tian guan ci fu’s synopsis. the character names have been altered to xue yuan (xie lian) and zu cheng (hua cheng). as far as i know, no other character names in “the third ascension” have been altered.

apparently it all started with the account below (@/seowu.drawws on instagram), which has now been deactivated / privated. someone noticed they posted about a novel a friend of theirs wrote and that they drew the art for and found the undeniable similarities with tian guan ci fu.

here are two of their posts some of my mutuals screenshotted before the account was privated / deactivated;

as you can see in both these screenshots this person is stealing starember’s artworks and claiming them as their own. on both artworks starember’s weibo watermark has been cropped and the reposter put their own watermark on top of the image, which is just absurd.

below is a screenshot of their discord server, where the artist friend of the author yet again claims starember’s work as their own;

the author of “the third ascension” themself had an instagram account under the username @/nabzie but it has been deactivated, as well as their twitter account which was @/vinchenzoq. they had a wix site (nabihapriyoty) where they posted the chapters but as far as i know that link is broken as well. there was also a carrd under the url pipsnovels but it has been deleted as well. i am not aware of any other social media they might have. i am also not sure if the artist friend and the author are two different people, or the same person operating under two different names.

here is a screenshot of the author’s instagram (@/nabzie) before it was taken down. as you can see they claim to have written “the third ascension” in nineteen months and they extend their thanks to their artist friend sophie (@/seowu.drawws).

(as it appears they also wrote reviews for their own novel, giving it a constant of four to five star reviews. this is however just an assumption, but it seems unlikely to me that so many different people wrote these reviews and not one of them pointed out the similarities to tian guan ci fu.)

below is a screenshot from the author’s instagram story, in which they yet again claim to be the original author of their plagiarization of tian guan ci fu. as you can see the only names that have been changed are xie lian’s (xue yuan) and hua cheng’s (zu cheng), scanning through this will show the names pei ming, e’ming, ming’guang and fang xin, which are all names mo xiang tong xiu herself used in tian guan ci fu.

to make it even worse, not only did this person copy the entirety of tian guan ci fu and changed some character names (+ made hualian a heterosexual couple) but it also appears they have printed physical copies of “the third ascension” and are selling it online. in short, they are making profit off of a novel they did not write. proof in the screenshots below.

it is downright ridiculous that this person thought they could copy paste one of the fan translations of tian guan ci fu (as they most likely don’t speak chinese), edit some names here and there, and then publish it as their “own novel” without thinking anyone would notice.

that is all i have gathered from my twitter timeline so far. i’ll link the threads i saw on twitter down below as well. please please please spread this as much as you can because it’s just plain ridiculous. this person needs to know that they cannot get away with this.
