Lay Me to Rest- DCxDP Prompt
Warning: Blood and gore
There has been a series of murders across the country. Each death was varied and self-inflicted. At first, they all seemed like suicide but each had a strange range of symptoms before death.
Sudden paranoia, incoherent mumbling, screaming or yelling, going in and out of their homes sporadically, random fixations, and finally self-harm.
The victims were teachers, parents, businessmen, truckers, and even a crime novelist. All unrelated and in different states.
Each victim didn't seem to have a connection until an investigation discovered that each one had been an active serial killer. The body counts ranged from as little as 5 to as much as 23. The killer was named the Serial Serial Killer which wasn't creative but it was catchy. Some called them the Angel of Vengeance but most thought it was cringy and overdramatic. Many people didn't want them to be caught but others hotly debated letting a killer dispense justice when their crusade could easily turn into them killing people for innocuous things.
The police were still questioning whether this killer even existed. One thing was clear, there was a trail and it led straight to Gotham. A goldmine for them. Naturally, Batman had gotten a hold on the case and began an investigation.
The biggest question was how the killer found their victims and how they knew that they were killers.
The answer was obvious. They didn't need to figure it out. They just needed to wait. Why just in the effort to investigate when a serial killer tries to convince you to leave with them? So bars are the obvious place. But that's shaky at best since there is a period of torment that takes place that allows the victims to return home. The killer doesn't care if the victims could call the police, perhaps because they know their victim won't.
Bruce started to build a profile. He saw a pattern here. Each of the victims had a preference for their victims as well. They targeted young people, mainly boys. Odds are the Serial Serial Killer matched that description or age range. So bars weren't the hunting ground. So parks were more likely to go unnoticed and boys tended to hang out there longer after dark.
The killer was more than likely a victim himself so he may have a few scars but probably not noticeable enough that his would-be assailants would be turned off. There is no ignoring the predatory nature of the victims. Each killed children for gratification in some form. It's not that the boy is attractive but he probably has traits that the victims found attractive in children. So babyfaced, short, native, and polite.
There was much else Bruce could get. There was nothing concrete and he still didn't understand the method that was used. So far this was guesswork.
It wasn't until a few weeks later while he tracking another killer that he found his answer.
Dr.Kinder a Biologist by day and a killer who experiments on his victims at night had picked up a promising new lab rat a week ago. He had intended to slowly dissect the boy. He had gotten so used to the screams he stopped using anesthetics besides he wanted to see how the fear response caused the organs to shift.
To his surprise the boy didn't fight, in fact he seemed to jump to the table and say he didn't need restraints. Disturbing. But he was restrained anyways.
As the doctor cut him open the boy didn't react, only humming to himself as he watched the doctor.
"What are you hoping to find?" He asked. "I'm getting bored and this bearly hurts."
The boy annoyingly never stopped talking and never missed a chance to ruin the moment. There were never any screams or cries but incessant talking.
Dr.Kinder found the boy disturbing so he simply took an axe and chopped the boy into pieces. Not once did he make a sound. The doctor thought it was over but the next day the boy was back. He sat on the autopsy table kicking his feet in nothing but his bare skin.
"What the hell are you?" The doctor gasped in horror.
"I'm bored. Play with me again." The boy purred.
Bile crawled up his throat as the doctor restained this...thing again.
This time the boy spoke differently.
"You cut me up last time. Did you do that to the last boy. After you...you know." A sick grin spread across his cheeks.
The doctor cut open his neck this time and let him bleed out.
Everyday he came back and every day the doctor killed him until the time between his death got shorter and shorter. The days began to blur and he had no idea how long he had been doing this. But that thing kept talkimg to him.
Dr.Kinder stared down at his desk at the papers trying to think of anything but-
"I wonder what people would think about what you've done. You're a disgusting and depraved man doctor. Look at what you've done to me." The sing-song voice of that demon called out.
He could feel those blood-soaked arms wrapped around his neck.
He flinch as he pushed the thing away.
"Oh, are you going to beat me or stab me this time? Ooo, or are you going to put me through the woodchipper again?" The demon asked as the doctor wrapped his hands around his throat.
He just kept squeezing until the boy went limp. It never ends. The blood never goes away. It covered every surface of the room. Dripping, conjugating, and spreading into every corner. Whenever he turned his head he could see body parts spread across the room in the pools of blood he could they the faces of the others that he had killed. Each face wretched in agony.
"You hold on better than the others. I've been eaten, torched, and disemboweled before but after coming back a few times they usually end it after a few words. But every time they don't feel guilt. They just don't want to face consequences." The boy said. "Do you even remember my name? The one I told you when you picked me up on the side of the road or was I just another body to use and discard? I used the name of your first victim. I hoped you'd notice."
The doctor knew he couldn't kill the boy but he could end himself. He had tried it once but just like the kid he came back without a scratch.
"Not yet. This is your life now. Come on, let's taste death together. Again and again and again and again and-" he repeated over and over.
This was hell. This was his hell.
But it came to an end eventually. Dr.Kinder put an end to himself in a gruesome display.
Batman had only caught the tail end as he faced a young boy standing an a pool of blood.
****
"Yeah, that thing is like a worse version of a revenant. Doesn't really have a name yet to describe it. It's undead for sure. You kill it and it just comes back." Constantine said "Why did you bring it here?"
After a long bath and some new clothes, the kid looked normal as played on a phone given to him.
"Look, I didn't know what else to do." Bruce explained.
"You leave it alone!" Constantine said exasperated "Look they are harmless to anything they don't bear a grudge towards. Think of it as a force of nature." Constantine said.
"I just want to know how to stop him." Bruce said.
"Well you can't kill it but you can't bring him back entirely. You can just soothe it 'till it stops targeting its victims. It must have died pretty gruesomely to go to these lengths. You need to find where it died and lay it to rest. Properly." Constantine sighed knowing that appeasing this soul would be more than just difficult.
"Danny, come on. Let's go." Bruced said putting a hand on the boy's head as Danny stood up to leave.
"Okay. Bye!" Danny waved to Constantine.

My World
Day 1: Cool quiet.
Summary: Y/n's in labour. Azriel needs to stay calm.
â˘âââŚâââ˘
Word Count: 805
Warnings: labour ig? azzie being scared and sad cus yn is in pain :(
A/n: HAPPY DAY 1 OF @azrielappreciationweek YALL WOOHOOOO đĽł
all fics in the week will be like a series cus theyre all revolving around azzie and his daughter hehe but it isnt a series ig?
ANYWAY ENJOYYYY đĽł
°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘âđââ˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°
Rhysand did not see the shift in his spymaster. Did not see the way he stiffened, the way his eyes went distant before focusing again, fist clenched.
He said no words, nothing to indicate he knew his mate was going into labour. And if the meeting with Keir had not ended when it had and Azriel hadnât immediately winnowed away without preamble, Rhys wouldnât have even known.
Even when Rhysand and Cassian followed their brother to his house on the outskirts of Velaris, welcomed by agonising screams of Azrielâs mate, Rhysand saw him stand quietly in the hallway.
Rhysand could not fathom being that cool, that quiet if he knew Feyre was in labour.
He had to give it to Azriel, the male was great at hiding his weaknesses. And Rhysand would have been convinced he was still composed had he not seen that in the dark corridor, light glinted off of the tears rolling down his cheeks.
Azriel still did not move, standing still against the wall with his hands folded behind his back.
It shook Rhys more than him pacing and losing his mind would have.
°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘âđââ˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°
Azrielâs pov.
He wanted to scream, he wanted to curse himself out loud. After all, he was the reason his darling mate was going through the pain of birth.
Shouldâve resisted when she said she wanted kids.
But alas, it was now too late to do anything but stand here helpless as he heard her loud cries of pain from their bedroom.
"I- Azriel! Az-"
It took all Azriel had in him to stand outside while his mate, his wife went through unbearable pain he knew he could not even fathom of. Having your privates stretched while you had to push out a literal being was something he knew his worst wounds would look like paper cuts in comparison.
It made him respect females more at the moment.
Through the bond, he felt flashes of hot agony and cold pain, but he was aware it was nothing, nothing compared to what his mate was going through.
The door opened the slightest bit, the worried eyes of an apprentice healer peeking out. "Spymaster? Madja said you can come in to soothe your mate."
Instantly, Azriel was hurrying inside the room, his eyes finding his mate lying on the bed.
Keep calm. Keep calm. Keep calm.
But how could he, seeing as the one person he could ruin the world for, was sobbing, tears running down her face in constant streams, aided by the sweat gathering on her skin?
He hurried over to her side, her palm instantly finding his.
"My love, Iâm here."
She gasped in pain, nails digging into his palm.
Cool. Stay cool. It will be fine.
"Just one more push dear, then you can rest."
Azriel turned his head to Madja when she said that, relief spreading through his veins. At least the torture Y/n was going through would be over soon.
Y/n nodded, meeting Azrielâs eyes. Even while she was pushing out their baby, she found it in herself to offer him a weak smile.
Be calm.
Not even a moment after Y/n dropped back down on the bed with an exhausted sigh, loud cries filled the room. Azriel leaned down, placing his forehead against his mateâs. She smiled up at him, her eyes tired.
"No more babies. Y/n, Iâm telling you, I cannot see you in pain."
Y/n had the audacity to pout. "But what if our baby gets lonely?"
He shook his head, kissing Y/nâs cheek. "I wonât let them get lonely."
He straightened when he heard footsteps approaching, lifting his head to look at Madja, who grinned at them over the babyâs head. "Itâs a daughter."
Tears gathered in Azrielâs eyes as Madja leaned down, his daughterâs face coming into view for the first time. Azriel could not look away.
Sheâs beautiful.
Her eyes are so pretty.
She stared back at him with wide eyes.
Donât cry. Stay calm. Stay quiet.
Fuck calm. Fuck quiet.
He let the tears fall as Y/n placed a hand on his arm, telling him to take his daughter. And even though he did not want to taint the pure soul made of him and his beloved, he extended his arms. Y/n had had the time of months to scold and train Azriel to not be scared of his own child.
The moment Madja stepped out of their room, Azriel let out an involuntary sob, accompanied by a look in his mateâs direction, who was crying too.
"I love her so much."
She nodded, giggling. "Me too." After a pause, she continued. "Hazel. Thatâs what we decided."
He nodded, unable to look away as he leaned down to press his lips to her tiny forehead.
"My world."

Bound by Secrets
Pairing: Azriel x Beronâs daughter!reader
Summary: When you get caught sneaking around the Hewn City, you end up in one of the dungeon cells to be interrogated by the infamous Spymaster. But things don't go exactly the way the General and the High Lord thought.
Warnings: mentions of sex, allusions to torture and scars
Word count: 6.4k
A/N: Okay sooo, I got a bit carried away with the first part and it came out longer than anticipated, with Az coming in at around word 1.7k. I know itâs a lot without him since it's his appreciation week, but the build-up is worth it (hopefully) and seeing how long the whole fic turned out to be, I hope you don't mind too much. There's still a lot of Azriel, I swear! (and I might have gone a little bit off-topic but shh it's fine). Anyway, happy @azrielappreciationweek everyone!
You knew being here was dangerous.
The Hewn City was not a place you could simply sneak into, and yet here you were, lurking in a corner of the throne room, waiting for the right moment to slip out and search for the treasury.
You had been sent there with a mission: find the Veritas Orb. How your father knew where it was, or what he needed it for, was not information you had been made privy to. But the High Lord of the Autumn Court had been clear: you were to steal the Orb as soon as possible. Knowing the kind of punishment he dealt when disappointed, you always did your best to comply. That left you with little time to prepare and, apparently, a huge number of problems.
Because just as you were about to make an unseen exit through the hallway you had previously selected, every single person in the crowd stiffened, and the chattering stopped abruptly, plunging the room into a silence so deep you could hear a pin drop.
As you turned to see what had happened, you realized everyone was staring at the entrance doors, just as they swung open. One look at the two tall figures slowly stalking in, and you knew you needed to get out before it was too late.
You blended into the shadows against the wall as the Spymaster and the General of the Army made their way to the dais on the other side of the hall. A smudge of red and gold was all you caught out of the corner of your eye when the Morrigan entered, just as you bolted down the hallway.
The High Lord and High Lady would be next. And if they caught you not only in their Court, but in their underground city as well, you'd be in serious trouble. You couldn't risk it. You needed to get out.
Yet you couldn't leave. Not without the Orb. Fear seized you for a split second at the mere thought of the pain you would suffer at your father's hands if you were to fail, and then you broke into a sprintâor as close to a sprint as you could manage with the high heels you had worn to blend in with the Hewn City inhabitants.
A thrum of power reached you despite the distance you had already put between yourself and the throne room, a clear sign of the High Lord and Ladyâs arrival. You needed to hurry.
âDamn heels,â you muttered under your breath. You stopped long enough to take them off, gather them in your hands, and resume your run. At least your night-black dress was loose enough around the legs to allow you to move freely.
You had no idea where the treasury was. Your father didn't know, merely telling you the Orb was likely kept thereâas if that helped. But you wouldn't consider where else it could be, instead choosing to focus on one thing at a time.
You wandered through the hallways, peering into every room you could find. Most of them were studies, sitting rooms, or smaller chambers for holding court. None of them what you were looking for.
Pushing a heavy wooden door open, you discovered a staircase that spiraled down. The basement. Or dungeons, you guessed, summoning a flame in your hand to light the steps as you began the descent. It made sense for the treasury to be on a lower levelâharder to reach and easier to hide. That was where your father kept his most treasured possessions as well.
The stairs ended in a long hallway with many other tunnels branching off. You chose one out of instinct and kept going like that for a while, trying to remember every turn you took. The place was like a maze and there was nothing to, with nothing to distinguish the different paths. But eventually, your seemingly random choices paid off, and/because you found yourself in front of large, unguarded double doors. Upon closer inspection, you realized they were warded, hence the lack of actual guards.
With a smirk, you placed your palm on the knob and summoned more of your power. Your hand became a bright shade of orange, and a thin circle of fire spread from it, growing over the surface of the doors until it burned the spell protecting them. A little trick your oldest brother had taught you years ago.
Pulling your hand away, it returned to its normal color as you shoved the door open and walked inside.
Piles of gold lined the walls, jewels and weapons displayed in glass cabinets, and everywhere you turned, something shiny caught your eye. You delved deeper into the room, discovering beautiful pieces of artwork scattered around, but you couldnât let them distract you from your task. You began searching the place instead, opening boxes and trunks, anything you could find, but there were no signs of the Veritas. The more you looked, the clearer it became.
The Orb wasn't there.
A frustrated sigh escaped you, and you stifled a groan as you made your way back to the tunnels, picking up the heels you had left by the door.
There had to be another room where more treasure was kept. You just had to find it. You were so sure it would be somewhere nearby that you made a stupid mistake: you didnât count your turns, didnât memorize when and where you had gone left or right or straight.
Maybe you should have asked for help before coming here. You had considered it, but you didn't want to endanger more people than necessaryâor, even worse, have the truth discoveredâand you honestly had thought you could do this alone.
You were wrong, and now you were lost. Like a damn fool.
Too caught up in your worries and rising anxiety, you did not hear the approaching steps. As you turned around the corner, you bumped into a tall, muscular body. A strong hand gripped your arm to keep you from losing balance, and the flame still flickering around your hand went out.
Now only the low gloom of the torches several feet down the tunnel illuminated the darkness.
âThere you are.â
You didnât recognize that deep, almost rough voice, but your heart jumped in your throat at sight of the leathery wings and the black scaled armor adorned with seven crimson Siphons.
You already knew who you were facing when you looked up and met the wary gaze of the General of the Night Court armies, his face half-hidden in the dark.
âThere I am?â you repeated, putting on a sweet smile that didnât reflect your internal turmoil. âWere you looking for me, General?â
His eyes narrowed as he took in your bare feet and the heels you still held in your hand. âWhat are you doing down here?â
You couldnât tell if he meant down here in the Hewn City or in the tunnels below the palace. What if he knew the truth? What if he knew who you were? It could have given you a way out, it could haveâ
But Cassianâs grip on your arm tightened at your silence. âAnswer me,â he growled. âWe know someone broke into the treasury. And I know it was you.â
You shivered at his tone, at the fear that began to settle inside you, knowing you had been caught. As you tried to find a way out, you heard the words coming out of your mouth as if they were someone elseâs: feigned shock at the news, deep confusion at the accusation, refined politeness when you addressed him. Hopefully, it was enough to let you off the hook.
âWhy, if I may ask, would you think that was me, General?â
He didnât seem impressed by your display of innocence. âThere are very few redheads in the Hewn City, and none with fire powers. Youâre from Autumn.â
Well, shit. You were so used to seeing red-haired Fae in the Autumn Court that you hadn't considered how recognizable your hairâor your powers, for that matterâcould be outside of your home.
âIâŚâ
You didnât know what to say. You had red hair. You were suspiciously wandering in the tunnels. You had broken into the treasury using your fire. How could you find an excuse for all of that?
Your hesitation was confirmation enough for the General. His grip on your arm became almost painful. âWho are you? What were you looking for in the treasury?â
Maybe telling him the truth would help. If you revealed that you were in the Hewn City because you had no other choice, that you were not only Beronâs secret daughter but also his spy, his undercover agent, would he believe you? And if he did, would that make things better or worse for you?
Again, you thought about it for too long.
Cassianâs eyes narrowed even more. âYouâre coming with me,â he ordered, nudging you along. âAnd you will talk, one way or another.â
You didnât like where this was going. You didnât like it one bit.
You could burn him, you supposed. Use your fire on him to create a distraction and run away. But you knew what kind of pain it caused, and you couldnât bring yourself to hurt someone that way, not even him. And even if you did, where could you run? You didnât know the place, didn't know where the hallways led or where the hiding spots were. But Cassian did. You wouldnât get far before he found you.
You let the General lead you even deeper into the dungeons, following him without a struggle, even as the cold air bit at your skin and your gut churned in fear.
After a few minutes, you were escorted inside a small cell. There was nothing but a wooden chair in the middle of the space, right next to a grate on the floor from which hisses and growls rose up. You decided you didnât want to know what was on the other side.
Cassian took your shoes, placing them next to the door as he gestured for you to sit. You obeyed silently and took a seat, waiting for the handcuffs, for the restraint, for the questions to start.
None of it came.
You just sat there, the General watching you intently from his spot against the wall, his stance relaxed yet alert in case you tried something. He said not a word.
You werenât sure how much time passed before the door opened again and another male walked in. He was Illyrian too, a sword similar to Cassianâs was strapped to his back, and he wore the same armor. But his Siphons were a shade of cobalt blue, his black hair cut short, and he was surrounded by swirling shadows.
Your breath caught at the sight of the Spymaster.
Azrielâs eyes widened ever so slightly as they settled on you, his shadows frozen around his shoulders. He stood there, wings tucked tightly in, staring at you as if he could see right through your façade.
âWhere is Rhys?â
The Spymaster didnât tear his gaze away from you even as he answered. âHe couldnât leave.â His voice, cold as ice, sent a shiver down your spine. âThis is the intruder?â
You held your head up high, reigning in your emotions. You wouldnât let him intimidate you. You refused to. No matter the stories you had heard about the feared Shadowsinger of the Night Court, you wouldnât cower. Not before him. You had suffered enough at the hands of your father to know how to deal with fear and pain.
âI found her wandering in the tunnels,â Cassian answered. âNot far from the treasury, hand wreathed in flames. She refused to say anything.â
The Spymaster assessed you, hazel eyes scanning you from head to toe. âWell, thatâs about to change.â His hand lingered dangerously close to the black-hilted knife strapped to his muscular thigh.
Your brother's words echoed in your mind. âTell him what he wants to hear.â âIf you fight him, you'll only make it worse.â âThink of something nice, hold on to it, and it'll be over soon enough.â âBehave like the pliant little female he expects you to be.â
If Eris's precious advice had always worked with your father and his particular inclination for painful punishments, then maybe it would work now as well.
Azriel's gaze didn't falter as he stalked toward you, the dagger now clutched in his scarred fingers. You could have sworn his hand trembled for just a split second as he unsheathed it, but you were already looking down at your bare feet, letting your shoulders slump forward and your stiff back relax into a more submissive position.
A pair of black boots stopped right in front of you. Your heart pounded in your chest, your hands holding the armrests so tightly that your knuckles went white. The scent of night-chilled mist and cedar filled your nose as cold metal pressed just under your chin, urging you to lift your head.
You didn't fight it, meeting a pair of honeyed eyes that stared at you coolly. So close, you could see the tiny speck of green in them, even with his dilated pupils.
Cauldron, this male was beautiful. Painfully so. Bigger issues begged for your attention, but you couldn't help but admire himâthe sharp features of his face, the perfect lines of his jaw, the plush lips, the way a few black curls hung over his forehead.
You didn't dare shift your position, but the urge to clench your thighs was almost overwhelming. The most inappropriate time ever.
Azriel seemed to somehow sense it, because his nostrils flared and the tip of the knife pressed a bit more under your chin, though still not enough to draw blood.
âWhat are you doing here?â
That voice, like silk and shadows and ice. Now you could understand why everyone feared the Shadowsinger of the Night Court.
âWhy were you in the treasury?â he pressed, more demanding than before.
When you didn't answer his questions, he removed the dagger and took a step back. You glanced at the General, still standing by the door, but your focus quickly returned to the Spymaster, who had begun to circle around your chair.
Like a beast about to strike, toying with its prey before the killing blow.
âYou know, this would be easier if you talked willingly.â
Shadows wrapped around both your ankles and wrists to prevent any possible movement. He was behind you now, his dagger trailing down your arm, sending all your senses on high alert.
âOr I'll have to resort to more⌠unpleasant methods.â
Your bindings tightened as if to prove his point and a small gasp escaped your lips. You had to say something, come up with some kind of excuse before it was too late.
âTell him what he wants to hear.â
What did he want to hear? You couldn't very well give up the truth, could you? But maybe if you did, maybe if you triedâŚ
Your eyes shot to the General. He was studying you with his arms crossed, nothing but distaste etched on his features.
Azriel, now on your left, noticed the direction of your gaze. He watched the other Illyrian for a few heartbeats before speaking in that low, quiet voice of his. âYou know I work better when I'm alone.â
You stilled at the words. You, alone in a dungeon cell with the Spymaster? This changed everythingâreshuffling all the cards, altering the odds of how this interrogation might end.
Cassian blinked, turning to face him. The two males stared at each other for what felt like ages, a silent conversation passing between them. Eventually, the General sighed.
âFine,â he grumbled, fingers raking through his dark hair. âBut alert Rhys immediately if something happens.â
The Shadowsinger seemed to hold back a scoff. âI know what I'm doing, Cassian,â he replied coolly. âI always get the information I want.â
You swallowed harshly, but Cassian gave a sharp nod and sauntered out of the cell.
As soon as the door closed behind him and his footsteps faded down the hallways, Azriel crouched in front of you, the dagger sheathed at his thigh once more. The shadows restraining you vanished.
âWhat the hell are you doing here, my love?â
~~~~~~
You and Azriel had met four years prior.
When you were bornâthe youngest and only female in a clutch of seven brothersâyour father decided to keep you in the shadows. He never publicly acknowledged having a daughter, believing that no one would suspect a girl, thus raising you to serve as his undercover agent. Only your family knew of your existence, and if you hadn't gone mad over the years of confinement, it was only thanks to your sweet mother and Eris.
Beron had spent almost a century training you, molding you into his perfect little spy, and then sent you out into the world for just as long to do exactly what he had taught you.
You were attending a ball in the Day Court the first time you saw Azriel. You had already gathered the intel your father wanted about the honored guests from the Dawn Court, but you had no intention of going home earlier than scheduled. You still had until morning. And when the most beautiful male you had ever seen walked into the room as part of the Night Court delegation, you knew exactly how you wanted to spend your remaining time.
You watched him, taking in his muscular body, the massive wings, and the swirling shadows, until his eyes finally found yours through the crowd. You offered him a gentle yet unwavering smile, and your core clenched at the way he studied you as you approached him. Like he was already imagining pinning you beneath him.
It didn't take long for him to do just that. Within minutes, you found yourself in the room he was staying in, your dress discarded on the floor and his head between your thighs.
You had never felt so good as you did in those few hours.
It was almost dawn by the time you were both spent and sweaty, but you fought against exhaustion. You waited for Azriel to fall asleep, and then you slipped out of the room.
He woke up to an empty bed.
The next time you met him was a few months later. The High Lords and High Lady were all meeting in the Winter Court to discuss Prythianâs situation after the war with Hybern, but your father was paranoid. He ordered you to ensure the other courts werenât plotting a coup against him.
You had just sneaked out of the suite reserved for the High Lord of the Summer Court and his entourage when shadows pooled at your feet, and your back was slammed against the wall. The air was snatched from your lungs at the impact, leaving you little time to take another breath before a dark dagger pressed against your throat.
Despite having spent just one night together, you immediately recognized your assailant by his scent alone.
âDidn't know you were into this kind of thing,â you drawled, looking up to meet Azriel's gaze. âKinky. I like it.â
His eyes widened slightly as recognition dawned on him, the blade moving an inch away from your neck but no more. âIt's you.â
You knew you should be bothered by the dagger, that this was a powerful male not to be trifled with, but you couldnât bring yourself to care. Not when you could still remember how his lips tasted and how good he felt inside you.
âStrange way to meet again, uh?â
Azriel didn't return your smirk, nor did he step away. Instead, his voice was cold as death now that his surprise had faded. âWhy are you sneaking into the suites?â
You had mastered the art of weaving lies so long ago that the answer flowed effortlessly from your lips.Â
âCresseida was wearing a beautiful necklace at lunch,â you replied with a shrug. âI wanted to see if she left it in her room.â
His eyes narrowed. âSo, you're a petty thief?â
Better than the truth, you thought, though a small part of you longed to confide in him, to tell him everything. A deep, innate feeling of trust had somehow bloomed in your chest. You ignored it.
âI'm a simple girl.â You offered him your most charming smile. âI see a shining jewel, and I want it for myself.â
Azriel hummed, knife still at your throat. His eyes scanned your face and you felt like he could see everything you were trying to conceal, all the secrets you'd kept locked away for years.
âYou went through the suites of every Court except Autumn,â he mused, the tip of the blade tracing your jaw. You went utterly still. âWhy?â
You didn't know how to answer. You didn't even know how he knew that. You'd been caught red-handed, and you had a feeling that any new lie you concocted would be pointless. So you decided to trust your gut.
âAlright.â You took a deep breathâor as deep as you dared with a sharp dagger pressed against your neck. âI work for Beron. He thinks someone might stage a coup, so he sent me to gather information.â
His eyes, which had been roaming over your features and perhaps lingered a second too long on your lipsâthough that could just be your imaginationâsnapped up to meet yours. The blade pressed a fraction harder against your skin, a clear sign of his distrust.
âFor Beron?â he repeated. Not a hint of surprise or disdain marked his tone, just that icy coldness, so different from the warm voice he'd used to talk you through it in the Summer Court. âAnd he fears a coup?â
You wanted to sigh but didn't dare. If only he would sheath that damn daggerâŚ
âYes, that's what I said. And honestly, if someone does, I'm not surprised. I hope it works out for them.â
Azriel's brow arched.
âI mean, the male's horrible. He deserves it.â
You were aware of the dangerous line you were crossing, speaking of your fatherâyour High Lordâlike that to an important member of a rival court. You'd never voiced those thoughts aloud to anyone but Eris, and yet here you were. Beron would punish you if he found out. You were first his subject, then his spy, and only then his daughter.
A scarred hand cupped your jaw, Azriel's face now only inches from yours. You could feel his warm breath on your cheeks. âWhy do you work for him, then?â he snarled.
His grip on your chin made it impossible to look away, forcing you to meet his golden eyes. In that moment, you let him see your truth, the honesty and vulnerability you never revealed.
âBecause I don't have a choice.â
A heartbeat passed, and then his expression softened. You stilled as his hand moved from your jaw to your cheek.
You had seen his scars months ago and immediately recognized what had caused them. Cauldron knew you always kept yours hidden with a glamor, allowing it to dissipate only in the privacy of your bedroom.
Thinking about all your father had put you through made the reality of the situation slam into you. What if Azriel told your father what you had just said? The Night Court and the Autumn Court were not on good terms, but who knew what political machinations were at play behind closed doors. Beron would consider your words a betrayal and punish you accordingly.
Your worry must have shown on your face because Azriel's thumb brushed over your cheekbone, gentle and reassuring. âYour secret's safe with me,â he said softly. He studied you for a moment, and whatever he saw in your expression seemed to convince him to finally put his dagger back into its scabbard at his thigh.
You took a deep, shaky breath, unsure whether it stemmed from believing him or simply from relief at no longer being threatened.
Now free, his fingers brushed over your throat where his blade had been. There probably was a thin pink line there. His featherlight touch sent shivers down your spine.
âI'm sorry,â he murmured.
Your voice was barely a whisper. âYou have nothing to be sorry for.â
You stared at each other, time seeming to slow down. His shadows peeked from behind his broad shoulders, a few tendrils swirling forward and weaving through your red locks, but your gaze locked on his, your heartbeat quickening. His other hand still cradled your cheek.
âI'm sorry,â you murmured.
âWhat for?â
âFor lying to you.â
âFor sneaking into your Courtâs suite.â
âBecause I can't tell you the whole truth.â
So many easy replies, and all of them true. But one in particular pushed at the corner of your mind, one you hadn't been able to shake for months.
âFor walking away right after you fell asleep.â
Something flashed in his eyes, there and gone in an instant, but you didn't recognize what it was. You didn't know him well enough to read every subtle change in his expression. Part of you wished you could.
You waited for him to say somethingâeither to tell you he didn't care or that it wasn't a big dealâbut as his silence stretched on, you debated whether you should change the subject or perhaps apologize for bringing it up.
Just as you opened your mouth, Azriel spoke again, but his words were not what you had expected.
âI looked for you the day after,â he whispered, his thumb brushing over your bottom lip. âBut you were gone.â
You couldn't help but stare, so caught off guard that you were completely speechless. You had thought about him often since that night, but you never imagined he might have looked for you in the morning. You were torn between feeling even worse about leaving him and the rapid beat of your heart.
A grin curled your lips as you rested your hands on his chest. Even with his armor on, you could recall the lines of the tattoos swirling across his golden skin, a sliver of black ink peeking from his collar. âI was that good?â you teased.
Azriel chuckled under his breath, the sound like a song to your ears. âYou were that good.â He leaned in, his mouth brushing against your ear, teeth grazing your earlobe. âYou felt that good wrapped around me.â
Your breath hitched at his words, and you could feel his hard length pressing against your thigh, igniting a desire that made you want to moan.
âDo you want to do it again?â
He barely gave you time to finish that sentence before his lips claimed yours, eliciting a surprised whimper. Your fingers tangled in his curls, his hands cupped your face, and there was nothing sweet or gentle about the kiss as his body pressed yours against the wall and you began to grind on him.
You parted only to catch your breath, but Azriel was already nipping at your neck, and you tilted your head to grant him more access.
When distant footsteps echoed from a nearby hallway, he didnât even pull away as shadows wrapped around you both. In an instant, they winnowed you into a bedroom you didn't bother to register, too busy pushing Azriel on the large bed and climbing on top of him.
After that time, you began to plan your meetings. It was often a real challenge to find a moment when both of you could slip away from your duties without raising suspicions, but you couldn't risk your families discovering that you were regularly sleeping with a spy from a rival court.
Then, somewhere along the way, it happened. Sex slowly transformed into making love as you both developed feelings for one another, and around one year later, the mating bond snapped into place. You wanted to accept it, but you couldn't shake the dark cloud looming over your head. It was then that you decided to tell Azriel the truth about who you were, who your father was. He was gone for twenty days after your revelation, and you were left wondering whether it was because you had kept it hidden from him for so long or if he truly had a tight schedule and couldn't make time for a secret rendezvous. But when he finally returned, he assured you that whoever your father was wouldn't change or diminish his love for you. That very night, you offered him food, relief washing over you like a balm.
~~~~~~
And here you were, three years and countless secret meetings later.
âWhat are you doing here?â Azriel repeated, his voice carrying the usual softness he used when speaking to you, but with an edge of nervousness and impatience.
âMy father sent me to retrieve the Veritas Orb,â you explained with a sigh. âI'm sorry I didn't tell you. I didn't want you to have to lie to your family even more. And⌠I thought I could do this alone.â
Azriel fell silent, his back stiff, his posture rigid. The shadows had retreated behind his wings. Finally, he asked, âWhat does he need it for?â
You gave him an apologetic look. âHe didn't bother to share that information.â
He nodded, as if he had expected that answer. Rising to his feet, he offered you a hand to help you up from your seat. You took it, his skin cold against your palm, and stood with a frown.
âWhat do we do now?â you whispered, anxious despite Cassianâs absence. âI didn't mean to bring you into this mess, love.â
Azriel let go of your hand to cup your face, forcing you to meet his gaze. âDon't apologize. I know he didn't give you a choice.â He pressed his soft lips to your forehead. âBut I can't let you walk out, angel. We need some excuse.â
Right, because letting you leave unscathed and without any information would only get him in trouble with his High Lord. But leaving without the Orb would get you in trouble. And yet, you would rather endure whatever punishment your father would concoct than let your mate deal with the consequences of your reckless actions.
You stepped back, out of the warmth provided by his body. You had a plan, one you knew he wouldnât like, but it seemed like the only solution to get you both out of this mess with minimal repercussions. Well, for him at least. You doubted Beron would take pity and turn a blind eye to your failure, but it was worth a shot.
âI need you to hurt me.â
His eyes widened, but you went on before he could object. âYou can tell Rhysand I was acting alone, that you made sure I won't be a problem anymore, and Iâll go back to Autumn and tell my father I was caught and tortured. But I need you to hurt me and I need you to make it look believable.â
Azriel was gaping. You had never seen him like this before. You knew how your idea sounded, but you needed him to understand the criticality of the situation and agree to it.
âAz, Iââ
âNo.â
You blinked. âNo?â
Something ticked in his jaw, a subtle clench of his muscle. âNo,â he repeated, voice firm and unyielding. âI'm not hurting you, love. You can't just ask me to do that. I won't. I can't.â
You studied him for a moment, but you knew he wasn't going to change his mind.
âFine,â you sighed, extending a hand toward him, palm up. âThen give me Truth-Teller.â
He frowned, and the shadows swirled around him nervously, as if sensing the direction this conversation was taking. âAnd why would I do that?â
âYou won't hurt me, so I'll do it myself,â you replied, as if the answer was obvious.
His eyes widened. âY/Nââ
âJust a few cuts here and there,â you assured him. âNothing too bad. But my father has to believe it's real.â
Once again, Azriel stared at you, pale as if he had just seen a ghost. âYou can't be serious.â
âYou have a better idea?â you retorted. Without waiting for his answer, you reached for the dagger at his thigh. The sooner you could get this over with, the better.
Azriel easily sidestepped you, grabbing both your wrists to prevent you from trying to take his knife again. âI'm not letting you hurt yourself either,â he stated. His grip on you was gentle, but his tone was cold. It was the kind of tone that told you he wouldn't take no for an answer.
But neither would you.
âWe don't have a choice, Az,â you countered, your voice steady despite the rising tension. Yet you didn't try to free your hands.
Something shifted in his eyes, in his expression. His thumbs brushed over your wrists in soothing motions, and a pleading note entered his voice when he spoke again. âI can't stand to see you hurt, my love. I don't care about the reason.â
For a few seconds, you just stared into each other's eyes. You were still tense and rigid, and fear coiled in your gut at the thought of going back and facing your father. But Azriel's gaze was soft, scarred fingers never ceasing their gentle caresses. In that moment, you realized that he would rather tell his family the truth than let you go back home battered.
And then it hit you. Though you loved the Autumn Court, it wasn't your home. No, your home was Azriel. He had been for years now. Your safe place, the person you could always count on, the one who knew you better than anyone else. Your mate.
âHe won't let me leave,â you whispered, and you hated how weak and vulnerable you sounded.
âYou're already here.â Azriel lifted your hands to his mouth and pressed a warm kiss on each palm. âYou don't need to leave. You just need to stay.â
You shook your head, tears rising to your eyes. âHe sent me here. He knows where I am, and he'll come looking or send someone to find me, orââ
âWe'll deal with him,â he interrupted you. âBut you'll be safe here. I promise.â
You couldn't hold back the tears, then. He sounded so sure, as if it could ever be that simple. As if you could just make the choice to stay and never go back. You wished you could. With all your heart, you wished it could be as simple as that.
âAz, I⌠I can't,â you murmured, voice trembling.
He let go of your wrists to cup your cheeks, wiping away your tears. âI will protect you,â he reassured softly. âMy whole family will, once they know the truth. You will be safe in the Night Court. And if not, then⌠then we'll go somewhere else, somewhere far away where Beron won't find us.â
We. Us.
For how long had you wished to hear those words? Even after you two had met, you had never truly been a couple. You had stolen moments whenever you could, but it was always you and himâyour duties and his. Never a âweâ, never an âusâ.
âStay.â
You closed your eyes, unable to hold his pleading gaze any longer.
âStay in the Night Court.â
You swallowed, the weight of the decision heavy on your shoulders as if it were a physical burden. âAzâŚâ
âStay with me.â His voice broke, vulnerability spilling into every word. âPlease.â
What if it were that easy? What if you could make the decision and simply not go back to the Autumn Court? What if you could spend every day and every night with the person you loved with all your heart, with your mate, and not having to hide, to carefully plan every meeting, to weave lie after lie to everyone around you?
When you opened your eyes, Azriel was staring at you. He was still brushing away your tears, but even through their veil, you could see how beautiful he was. How desperate. How broken.
And you nodded.
âOkay,â you whispered.
His eyes immediately lit up. âOkay?â
âYes,â you confirmed despite the quiver in your voice. âYes, I'm⌠Iâm staying. With you.â
You barely had time to finish the sentence before he pulled you into his arms, your face pressed against his chest as he held you tight. You let yourself go, surrendering to the tears and the sobs shaking your body, clutching his leathers to keep your hands from trembling.
âThank you,â he murmured against your hair, over and over. âThank you, my love. Thank you.â
You didn't know how long you just stood there. Minutes, hours, daysâit didn't matter. You were together now, and you would always be from this moment on. You were home, and never again would you suffer at the hands of your father.
His shadows swarmed around you, caressing your back and arms, twisting in your hair as if they, too, were excited about what would happen next. You didn't know. For the first time in your life, the future was bright, and happiness was within your grasp.
You pulled back only when your tears ran dry. Azriel pressed a gentle kiss on your forehead, and you both smiled, brightly and lovingly, knowing you would not leave each other again.
âLet's get you out of here,â he said eventually, taking your hand and intertwining your fingers. âThere's so much to do.â
Like meeting his family. Revealing your identity, who you were and what you did, and hoping they would understand and not hold it against you.
As Azriel stepped back to turn toward the door, you hesitated.
âCan you promise me something?â you asked, your voice quiet and still a bit hoarse from crying.
He stopped, worried eyes immediately searching your face for any sign of discomfort or concern. âOf course, love. Anything you want.â
âIt's nothing too big, justâŚâ You offered a small smile and squeezed his fingers. âNo more secrets, Az.â
His hazel eyes softened, and his lips curled into a beautiful smile. He nodded, tugging gently on your hand to lead you out of the cell and into your new life. âNo more secrets.â
2nd a/n: if the lines "Stay / Stay in the Night Court / Stay with me" reminded you of another very similar quote, you are correct. I had originally written "Stay in the Night Court. Just... stay with me" and it made me think of that quote, which is one of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite books and said by one of my favorite characters ever, so I decided to include it (a little easter egg, if you will). complicate me || leah williamson x reader ||
Coming back to Arsenal was a mistake, but you and Leah manage to make an even bigger one together.
18+
You had always known that you wouldn't be at Manchester forever. A three year loan was a pretty long time, and for a moment, you had hoped that it would become permanent. Arsenal had let you stay the couple years, but with Jonas out, management ended your loan early. They wanted you back in red, not that you could blame them. There were a lot of important games coming up, and even if you technically couldn't play in a couple of them, you were still an important piece for practices.
It felt weird for you to walk the training grounds at Arsenal by yourself. Jen was gone, and she had always been the person you could count on to still be your mate after everything. Leah had kept most of your friends after the breakup, and then you hadn't exactly helped your case when you just up and left after everything.
You could still remember the way that Caitlin had practically begged for you to stay with the team. If it wasn't for Jen, you probably would have been convinced to stay. A part of you regretted leaving, but you knew that you hadn't been in your right mind with Leah so close after everything. At the time, it all seemed like too much to be reconciled, but now you were hopeful that things could be fixed.
You'd never in a million years get back together with Leah, no matter how good she looked. It didn't matter how many drinks you had on a team night out. After the first couple to celebrate wins, however, you promptly decided that you'd be a loner at Arsenal. With Jen in California, you had lost your personal voice of reason, the only person who could truly keep you away from Leah for your own wellbeing.
"Come on, you have to come over. You never do anything with the team, everybody's gonna think that you hate them," Caitlin pleaded with you. The two of you had been going back and forth for the past week about you coming to the party she was throwing with Katie at their place. It was a bye week, so everybody was free to enjoy the weekend. You knew there would be a lot of drinking, and that was what scared you. You had always been able to hold your liquor pretty well physically, but you made absolutely terrible decisions sometimes.
"Cait, nobody wants me there. Let's face it, they barely even want me playing here again," you reasoned. Caitlin could see you start to move to get up and rushed to grab onto your wrist. "Caitlin, I don't want to argue about this."
"Then don't argue and just come over for a bit. You don't have to talk to anybody but me. Just please, I miss you. I've missed you since you moved and iced everybody out," Caitlin said. She gave you her best puppy dog eyes, and if it was anybody else, you probably would have just said no. But because it was Caitlin, you gave in despite your better judgement.
That afternoon when you got out of training, you went straight home and immediately called Jen. You had hoped that she would convince you not to go, but instead, she had fully agreed with Caitlin. You hated hearing how it was a good idea to bond with the women you'd be spending the next two seasons of your career with. Once your contract was over, you could go somewhere else, but for now, you were stuck at Arsenal.
A lot of things had changed since you left. The changes may not have seemed like much to people who had been around, but they had definitely taken you by surprise. The big one had been Caitlin and Lia. Caitlin had been clinging to Katie's side when you arrived, and Lia was stuck by Lia.
Years before, you had been close with Lia, even closer than Lia and Leah were. Now, you just had Caitlin, who you had only befriended because of Lia. It hurt for the Swiss woman not to even look your way, but you couldn't imagine how it looked to her. You were sure that everybody had gotten Leah's side of the story, which you weren't calling bullshit, but you knew had to be biased.
"You look good. Leah's staring," Caitlin said as she nudged you.
"Whatever." You brushed off Caitlin's comment, but only to force yourself not to glance over at the blonde. You couldn't let yourself get sucked over there, not when you knew where it would end up. Leah had an uncanny ability to complicate everything in your life, and she had been doing it for years now. Your relationship had been far from perfect, but you were happier then. Now, you were miserable while she was getting a chance to live her best life.
"(Y/n), I didn't think you'd come." Katie looked just as surprised as she sounded. Caitlin swatted at the Irish woman's chest, but Katie seemed unphased. "I'm glad you came. It's been boring without my favorite drinking buddy."
"Do you really want me to drink you under the table this early into the night?" you asked teasingly. Katie scoffed at that, but didn't deny that you usually did win the little competitions. You watched as Katie sent Caitlin a pleading look before Caitlin just nodded. Before you could react, Katie grabbed your hand and led you into the kitchen where the alcohol was.
You let Katie pick the alcohol, and thus, your competition began. You should have known better than to start drinking like this so early into the night, but you wanted to have fun. It had been so long that you believed that you deserved to have a good night out. Several shots later, and you found yourself having to help Katie stumble out of the kitchen.
"Katie, you promised you'd stop at 5," Caitlin huffed as she took her girlfriend from you.
"Hey, it's not my fault that she did doubles," Katie slurred. Caitlin glanced over at you, who just barely had a rosy tint to your cheeks. You didn't seem too out of it, so Caitlin left you there to make Katie sit down and eat something with the hope of sobering her up a bit. It couldn't have been more than maybe 30 seconds of you being alone for Leah to find her way over to you.
"I see that you're enjoying yourself," Leah teased. Your eyes narrowed at her, but your anger was fleeting. You couldn't hold onto any one emotion for too long before forgetting what exactly it was that you were feeling. "You're gonna be feeling that tomorrow."
"That's not your concern," you told her. Leah seemed a bit shocked by the snark in your tone. She shouldn't have been surprised by it, you had spoken to her in worse tones constantly by the end of your relationship. "Why are you over here? You told everybody that I ruined you. Nobody wants to talk to the woman who ruined them."
"(Y/n), I was hurt. You know that I lash out when I'm hurt, besides, I am much more mature than I was before," Leah said. She placed her hand on the small of your back, and it ignited something inside of you. Without an ounce of hesitation, you turned and tried to kiss Leah. "Hey, no, not like this. I want you, but I want you to want me back."
"Leah, it's complicated. I'm complicated now," you told her. Leah bit her lip and glanced at the bottle of alcohol just sitting on the table behind you. You followed her gaze and immediately knew what she was getting onto. "You want to be on my level?"
"I don't think I'd feel so bad if I was," Leah reasoned. You didn't like the thought of her needing to be drunk to want you, but the notion was gone as quickly as it popped into your head. Everything was fleeting, except for your desire to have Leah. You didn't necessarily want her sexually; you just wanted her close. If you had to crawl into bed and open your legs for that, then you were more than willing to do so.
The trip back to Leah's was a bit of a blur. Leah's place wasn't too far from Katie and Caitlin's, close enough for the two of you to walk there. The two of you had left fairly early into the night, but it was nearly 11:30 by the time that you had gotten inside. Neither of you seemed to care as you had both been guilty of stopping to kiss and feel the other up.
Your lipstick was smeared on Leah's mouth and neck by the time that you got back to her place. She paused as she caught a glimpse of herself, a little more disheleved than normal. Leah promptly turned her atttention over to you. You looked just as far gone as she did, pupils blown wide as you watched and waited for her to make another move on you.
"Come on," Leah said as she tugged you along with her. Leah tried to move quickly with you, not giving you a chance to take in the state of her home now that you were gone. She was scared that if the two of you stopped for too long, you would notice all of the little pieces of you that Leah had refused to give up.
The truth was that she had tried, and for a while, they had been gone. However, Leah had always kept the few boxes of trinkets and little things you left behind in her closet. Lia had begged Leah to throw it all away, but the blonde couldn't bring herself to do it. Eventually, she began hating the way that her house felt, so she slowly put all of your things back in their rightful places.
Leah kept the light in her room off, guiding you to the bed herself. She didn't think about you waking up in the morning and seeing anything, but Leah doubted that the two of you would be on speaking terms for a while after tonight. Any time that you let yourself get remotely close to Leah for a little, you always blanked everybody for about a week or two.
"Lee, it's dark," you said. Leah just hummed, neither of you stopping in your attempts to undress each other. You wanted to see Leah's body, but you weren't willing to pull yourself away from her to turn on the lights. You didn't need the lights on to know the look of concentration on Leah's face as the two of you ground against each other.
You could vividly imagine everything happening around you. This was far from the first time that you had closed your eyes and just tried to imagine all of the things you remembered about Leah. Now, it was much more real than before with Leah panting and moaning in your ear.
"I want to feel you. I want to be inside of you," Leah told you. You had never been glad to be laying down before in your life. There was no way that Leah wouldn't have known how her words would affect you. You were sure that Leah could feel the surge of arousal as it coursed through your body.
"Fuck me, Leah, please," you begged her. You pushed a needier tone than usual, letting Leah really hear every ounce of desperation inside of you. Leah groaned as she sat back on her knees. One of her hands slipped between your legs while the other went between her own.
Leah could just barely make out the twisting of your body in the moonlight. She was so much closer than you were, but Leah wanted to make you cum. She wanted to feel you clench around her fingers at least one more time. She didn't know whether or not she'd get another chance to touch you like this again, and so she tried her best to savor the moment.
âŚ
The hangover from hell was the least of your problems whenever you had woken up the next morning. With Leah fast asleep next to you, you quickly snuck out of her home. It had once been your home too, but once again, you were running from it. A few quick phone calls to Arsenal's management staff about taking some time off for your mental health and a hasty plane ticket purchase later, and you were dead set on leaving the country.
Leah would be mad at you, as would Caitlin and everyone else, but you had to go. You watched as a text was sent out from management about you taking the next month off. Text after text began flooding in as you packed a bag. You didn't know how long you'd really be away for, but you just had to get the fuck away from London for a while.
"Jen? I know it's early for you, but I fucked up. I'm not over her, and I just need to clear my head for a couple of days. I swear that I won't be long, they're giving me the month, so I'll probably go back to Glasgow for a bit too. I just, I'll see you later." You had always hated leaving voicemails, but the words just poured from your mouth. You knew that your best friend was going to kill you when she saw you, but she'd also take care of you too.

DUDE I JUST PLAYED THROUGH THE GAME, WHY IS IT SO SADDDDđđđ
and why is he hot
Starling went through quite a few redesigns through the entire development process so let me talk about it a bit :3
It all started with this notes app drawing I made with my finger
Right from the start we knew his tail would be made out of tongues but figuring out how many and placed how was quite hard, I really had to girlmath my way thru
This was the first actual drawing I made of him. The story wasn't complete yet but I went ahead and designed something anyway. Here he was definitely "scarier" and his scar was also placed differently. He had gills on his neck but as you will see I changed their location to under his arms later on. We were actually considering not giving him a tongue of his own so I wanted to make his mouth terrifyingly big and empty.
Here I tried giving him bigger eyes like a fish. This was when his playful and childlike personality had started shaping as you can see from the expressions. I definitely liked this direction better but it also wasn't perfect just yet so I went ahead and did a few more changes
I slowed down on trying to figure out his design a bit after that and instead focused on how his sprite would look. He is a merman after all, he can't just stand straight like a lot of the other visual novel characters. This stage was PAINFUL.
These were the first ones I sketched, we ended up deciding we liked the 3rd one the best.
I carried that 3rd one over to another canvas and started playing around with how we could place his tail, we started entertaining the idea of having him sit on a big rock
This is when his pose really shaped up. The animated Little Mermaid movie was actually a big inspiration, I sat and rewatched the entire movie and studied how they animated her tail
And after that I finally finalized his design. We decided to change the end of his tail to be more eel like for aesthetic purposes (normal tail shape looked weird with tongues)
And for anyone wondering this is what Maelyn looked like at first. Since the story wasn't complete yet I thought it'd take place in a more modern setting and designed her with that in mind but we decided to have the story take place in 1800s so I changed the design based on that. I did a lot of research on glasses and corsets to make the design as accurate as I could.
Yes glasses! We didn't use the sprites in the main story but Maelyn does wear glasses and looks very pretty in them if you ask me. You will be seeing more of it in the bonus episodes!

Your turn to be a cat (x Zayne, Rafayel, Sylus, Xavier)
Warnings: Suggestive, might have minor spoilers for cat companion memories, kinda cringe ngl
Tags: Fluff (literally), MC/Reader, no gendered pronouns for you
Synopsis: This time, youâre the one who gets a cat tail and a second set of ears.
Zayne
âWhen you said medical emergency, this isnât what I had in mind.â Zayne looked at your ears, a first aid kid in his hand. It hadnât even been ten minutes since you texted him, telling him it was something dire and you couldnât go to the hospital, and there he was, at your door, stifling a smile.
âDonât laugh!â You scolded him, turning red, the tail you tried to hide inside your hoodie peeking out. You grabbed it immediately, forcing it back in. You pulled him inside, shutting the door to your apartment.
âDonât fold your tail, itâll be bad for your back.â Zayne spoke, taking off his shoes and keeping the first aid kit near the entrance. âAnd besides, itâs very cute.â
The tail made its way back out, and listening to your doctorâs advice, you let it be. âHelp me out my hoodie.â You demanded, and Zayne couldnât help but laugh at your tone, carefully helping you out your hoodie so as to not bother your sensitive ears, one of his hands holding down your t-shirt from riding up.
âThanks.â You mumbled, curling up on the couch, your tail swaying against its will. Zayne made his way next to you, unable to stop himself from touching it. âItâs really soft.â He observed, his large hand stroking it lightly.
âQuit playing around!â You whined, not really wanting him to stop, but being the gentleman he was, he did, not taking revenge for how you treated him when he was a cat. âHow do I make it go away?â
âCan I have a closer look at your tail?â Zayne asked, and you hissed, earning a laugh out of him. âAlright, I wonât look, but you shouldnât be shy around your doctor, especially when youâre the one who called me here.â
âYouâre not just my doctorâŚâ You looked up at him a little hopefully, tail swaying again.
Zayne smiled. âYouâre right, I suppose Iâm your vet now.â
You pouted, walking away from him in feline elegance, taking your place on the adjacent arm chair, lying on it with your tail in the air. âHow did you feel when you were a cat?â
âNeedy.â Zayne admitted, after some thought.
Like a cat, you wanted something, but you were too proud to admit it. âThenâŚâ You sat up on the chair, gazing at him, tail swaying behind you. âHow do you, how do you⌠how do you think I must be feeling right now?â You shied away immediately, cat ears perking up.
Zayne would take care of you, no matter what, so before you knew it, you were on his lap, his large hands stroking your ears. âIf you wanted me, you shouldâve just said so.â
You purred, nuzzling on his chest, holding on to him tightly, as his hands worked on your ears and tail. âYou knew.â
âMaybe.â Zayne spoke into your ear. Your heightened senses could listen to his racing heart, and his gushing blood. âBut I really wanted to hear you ask.â
Rafayel
Honestly, heâd be EMPATHETHIC loool
You were supposed to accompany him for an event, but as you put on your dress, you felt cold from behind. Looking in the mirror, you saw a tail pulling your dress up, and a pair of ears on your head. You yelped, turning the lights off, and hiding in a corner. This couldnât be happening.
âCutie, what was that?â Rafayel called from outside the door. You had the misfortune of being at his house when it happened too. You quietly opened the window, to make it seem like maybe you ran away. You would, too, but you couldnât be seen in public like that.
âIâm coming in!â Rafayel called upon hearing the sound of the window opening. You quietly hid under his bed.
Rafayel was already in his suit and tie, giving off a certain scent which made him seem oddly delectable.
âWhere did you goâŚâ He mumbled, looking at the open window. You could only see his feet now, so you couldnât tell what he was doing, until your phone buzzed. You scrambled to turn it silent, when Rafayel crouched down, peeking under the bed.
Before you knew it, you scratched him with a hiss.
âOw!â He stood back up, and you could smell his blood. You didnât expect yourself to do that, or for the scratch to draw blood.
You crawled out, standing up to look at his hand. âIâm so sorry!â As you realised what you did, you took your hands away from his wounded hand, trying to hide your tail.
âI, uhâŚâ You couldnât meet Rafayelâs eyes, scared of what he was thinking.
âOh, itâs just you.â Rafayel sighed. âI thought a cat sneaked in.â
He saw your tail lifting up your dress, and wrapped his coat around your waist. You still turned away from him, looking guilty. âCutie, look at me.â He called gently. âIt was just a scratch, and you didnât mean it.â
You looked up at him, and his face was gentle, nothing like you expected. âWhy did you hide from me?â He asked, his hands on your cheeks.
âI thought youâd be disgusted of me. Iâm a cat, after all.â
âHey, hey, hey.â He coaxed you, pulling you into a hug. âI could never be disgusted by you. I told you before, right? Iâd love you even if you were a worm.â
You let out a laugh, hugging him back, pulling him down on the bed behind you. He kept holding you, surprised by the sudden affection. âAnd youâre also the only cute cat in the world.â
Sylus
SUGGESTIVE
This was bad. Sylus would never let you live it down, but you also had no choice but to tell him. Your first thought after being turned into half a cat was volunteering at the cat cafĂŠ, so youâd get to spend time around the kitties, but that isnât what the OTTO had in mind when giving you that outfit. Now you needed someone to help you out there.
âAre you done?â The OTTO asked, its tone irritated.
You remained dead silent, texting Sylus to âsmash that devilish robot into piecesâ.
You heard commotion outside, then some banging, thinking maybe, finally, Sylus had arrived, leaning your ear against the door.
âLoving the new look, sweetie.â Sylus was somehow behind you, hand already on your tail. You immediately turned around to see him gaze fondly at you, who was sat leaning against the door. âGuess youâve been affected by the cat evol too.â
You looked away from his strong gaze, suddenly very aware of what OTTO made you wear. A short maid dress, with an opening at the back for your tail, and chiffon gloves with a cat paw stitched on them. Before you could change back, the sinister robot stole your clothes.
âIâm pleased you decided to call me in such a situation.â
âShut upâŚâ You mumbled.
âThatâs no way to speak to the person who saved you, kitten.â This time, that word held a whole new meaning.
âIâm⌠sorry.â You forced, ears drooping down. You looked up at him with a pout, and he pet you behind the ears. You rubbed your head against his head, until you realised what you were doing, forcing yourself to stop. You cleared your throat.
âThatâs rare coming from you.â He teased, fingers dancing around your jaw. There was a certain scent to them, so you bit him, though not hard enough to draw blood. Sylus winced, pulling back. âThereâs the kitten I know.â
âDid you bring a change of clothes like I asked?â
Sylus hummed in response, not really focusing on anything other than playing with your hair and ears, hands trickling down to where your tail was, pulling at the ribbons of the dress, acting more like a cat than you. You leaned in to him, and he placed a gentle kiss on the back of your neck.
Understanding where this was going, you reluctantly held his arm. âMm, letâs not, Iâm super hairy right now.â You said, referring to all the cat fuzz.
âThatâs fine.â Sylus whispered into your ear. âI prefer it like that.â
Xavier
âUghâŚâ You groaned, still sleepy. You had work pending, but for some reason, you couldnât keep your eyes open despite having a lot of sleep and a cup of coffee, Knowing Xavier was often in the same predicament, you went to his floor, hoping he had some insanely potent energy drinks on him.
He opened the door, also groggy, but straightening up when he saw you. âHey.â You greeted, intending to yawn but letting out a âmeowâ instead.
âThat was strange.â You tried to laugh it off. Xavier let you inside, and you explained that you were uncharacteristically sleepy the whole day.
âHow do you manage to stay up?â You were sat on his fuzzy carpet, pulling at it.
Xavier smiled, sitting down next to you. âI think there might be another reason youâre so sleepy today.â He opened his phoneâs front camera, facing it towards you.
âW-whatâs that?â You cried, hands going towards the ears on your head and tail behind you.
âCats might need up to 16 hours of sleep a day.â Xavier put his phone down, leaning his elbow on the coffee table, his other hand gently touching your ear. âIf you have work, Iâll do it for you.â
âReally?â Your tail moved in excitement.
Xavier nodded, as he went downstairs to get your laptop. You prowled around his house, trying to fall asleep on his bed, then looking in his fridge for something to eat, restless and impatient, irritated that you were unable to fall asleep despite being sleepy. You looked for several spots, but nothing was snug enough.
That was until you saw Xavier typing your mission reports on his laptop. You crawled over to him on all fours, setting your head down on his lap. He gave your head a few scratches, helping you fall asleep.
Despite not being a cat anymore, Xavier couldnât help feel sleepy seeing you safely under him. Perhaps cats could sense peopleâs feelings, because you spoke, half asleep âPut that aside Xavi, come cuddle with me.â
Eventually, the work was discarded, and Xavier held you on his couch, legs intertwined, head buried in his chest, his arms around you protectively, pretty dreams and soft feelings warm enough for you to get through whatever your supervisors would have to say.

Back when I moved to Memphis for a new job, many of my relatives back in Kansas advised me to watch out for "those people" because "you know what they say". I wasn't taking that especially from people that I used to worship next to in church, mouthing the same Gospel that I believe in and, of which to them, it's just lip service. I played along with it by playing ignorant. "Why, NO... what do THEY say about THOSE people?" "You know... THOSE people!" "Which people?" "*THOSE* PEOPLE!" "Shady riverboat captains?" "NO! THOSE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!" "Ice cream van drivers who zoom through downtown areas?" "NO! YOU KNOW! THOSE PEOPLE!" "Marching bands who don't take direction?" "OH, FORGET IT!!!!!!!!!!" I have Add to that, there was a restaurant owner back in Memphis that I knew that texted out a completely racist "joke". I stopped going to his restaurant. After about half a year, he texted me to ask where I had been. Told him I couldn't frequent his establishment any more thanks to his joke. Because, after all, you are known (even though a lot of people don't realize this any more) by the company you keep. Told him that I couldn't be seen with him or at his place if he was going to make cruel racist garbage jokes and think it was funny. Surprisingly, and thankfully, he was shocked that anyone would stand up to it, and also completely and totally apologized, texted everyone that he texted with the joke in the first place and promised that he would never do or say anything like that again. Standing up to fear, racism, hatred... leading a rebellion against, as it were ... does work. I lost contact with my family members after challenging their stance. I have lost a lot of friends not participating in their Wink Wink Nudge Nudge fest against Name Particular Group That's Not Like US Here / Oh You Just Don't Have A Sense of Humor You Stick In The Mud. I don't care. Having been bullied myself before, I will not stand for it in anyone else. It takes courage to stand up, but it is worth it in the end.

could you write us more vampires !!!
also u the baddestt â¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸
"Your kind don't look so perfect in the sun," the human said. "It feels like shining a light through a counterfeit. Seeing all the flaws. I love it. Hi~"
The vampire stared at them, eyes wide and viciously frightened and simultaneously filled with a sort of bewildered wonder at the gentle warmth washing over them. It would have been adorable if they weren't a complete and utter monster, devoid of whatever humanity they'd once had. Poor mite. They were so new, weren't they?
"Gosh, really, though." The human leaned down, pressing a kiss to the vampire's forehead. "Just look at you," they murmured. "I could just eat you up, pumpkin. Who were you when you still had a beating heart?"
The vampire's skin was so cold that it almost felt blistering. Sharp. When they were a kid, they'd once made the stupid mistake of licking a metal lamppost in winter, because they'd heard it was so cold that your tongue could get stuck. It had seemed absurd. Impossible. They'd been so sure it couldn't be true. It had taken hours for them to finally be able to move away again.
Kissing a vampire always reminded them of those hours. No matter how many times they did it, they still half expected to end up with a frozen lips, unable to pull away, except with the vampire the scant hours by a lamppost would tick over for forever until all that was left was the dark.
Infernal, gorgeous creatures. How could they not be obsessed? Of course, the other hunters didn't approve, but then. Their track record spoke for itself.
The vampire was still staring when the human moved back. Of course they were.
It was an old myth that vampires burned in the sun, but an even older misconception. Exposing a vampire to the sun only got closer to revealing the truth of them; a dead thing in a box, guttingly vulnerable. They could not move, could not speak, could use none of their devastating array of night-time gifts. In the dark, the vampire was nigh unstoppable, uncageable, unbeatable, certainly too beautiful to deny.
But oh, in the daylight...
It was why every hunter who had been there since the start knew to find the vampire's lair before the moon began to rise. To follow the butterflies to an undead grave, or to whatever more modern alternative the creatures found in the many centuries of increasing refinement that followed. Same thing, though. A vampire in a guarded mansion, hunkered down behind thick walls of sun-blocking glass, was still just a pretty dead thing in a much bigger box. The human had found them all. Seen them all. This one had curled up in the first place that felt instinctively safe like a stray cat, hadn't they? They hadn't even thought to lock themselves in from the inside.
"I know, I know." the human said ruefully. "You thought you were safe. They all do. You were oh so careful! You only ate one of the locals and it was an accident, honest, you just woke up so hungry. You couldn't help it."
They picked the knife up from where they'd set it down and traced the tip along the deceptively soft line of the vampire's mouth.
The vampire's pupils turned to pinpricks of terror.
"Still," the human said, "one local is enough for them to call me around these parts. Bad luck for you, my friend, isn't it? If you'd got turned in a city, you might have had a chance! Sorry."
The vampire, predictably, said nothing. It was the only thing the human found themselves wishing for. To be able to talk with a vampire, not just at them, because certainly it would be foolish of them to risk getting near one at any other time.
The human sighed. They trailed the knife down, dug it into the vampire's neck, where the two distinctive fang marks rested.
"The lucky thing for you, is that I need to find your maker," they said. "Can't just kill you. Or maybe that's unlucky? I suppose that depends on you. As said, most people wouldn't make something like you round these parts. They know better. So how did we get here? I'm rambling. Anyway." They watched, idly, as blood trickled down the vampire's throat. "I know you can't tell me anything, killer, but you're going to try. Flick those pretty eyes up for me twice for yes. Down for no. Okay?"
The vampire was unblinkingly still for a moment, still staring at them, face involuntarily smooth. Then their eyes flicked up twice.
The human beamed. "Good! What a good leech. Now. About the last things you remember when you were still alive...do you remember meeting a tall, dark haired man, by any chance? Voice to die for. Body to kill for. Soul made for sin, etc. etc."
The vampire's eyes flicked up twice.
"Mm, thought so, thought so. Did they give you a name?" They tried a few of the aliases the vampire had used the last few times. No dice. "Okay, moving on..."
By the time evening came dangerously close, they had everything they needed. They plunged the blade into the vampire, regretfully, and rose. They cast a glance up at the sky, calculating the minutes and the seconds, before heading home to do some research.
They were back. The bastard was back.
Less than two days later, they got a call about another fledgling vampire that needed hunting. Could they help? The curious thing was that this one had a note in its pocket when it died.
Honey, I'm home.

Iâm Not Brainwashed.
A blizzard hit Fawcett. It was a pretty harsh one too. His apartment doesnât have heating too. So, Billy went on a journey to find a warm place to sleep.
First, he tried the corner owned by a nice old man. The man said he could bask in the storeâs warmth until the storeâs closing time.
Old Man: âIâm sorry, itâs just I donât feel comfortable leaving you here overnight.â
Billy: âThereâs no need to apologize, Mister. Itâs fine.â
Old Man: âBut it isnât. I wish I could keep you longer but I canât. Here.â *gives Billy some wrapped sandwiches* âCome back tomorrow. Iâll let you stay again.â
Billy: *small smile* âIâll try. Thanks, Mister.â
Billy would definitely come back tomorrow, but for now he had to find a place to sleep for the night. This was when Billy made the unfortunate mistake of going to the Rock of Eternity to get out of the cold for a moment.
Billy: *plops down in front of the throne eating one of the sandwiches given to him* âHmm⌠Where am I gonna go now?â
Billy didnât know that those would be his last words as he dozed off at the rock.
A full rest laterâŚ
Billy: *stirs awake* âWhere am IâŚ? The rock? Geez did I fall asleep?â *feels a buzz from his pocket dimension and pulls out his JL comm and sees like 95 notifications* â-Oh my GODS.â
Thatâs how Billy found out the hard way never to sleep at the Rock. Turns out, to everyone else, he disappeared. For a WEEK. Damn (he feels like he deserves to curse in this situation) the Rock of Eternity and the weird way it makes time go by. Letâs see⌠Heâd missed an emergency meeting, several messages from his friends, and an either concerned or subtlety threatening text from Batman. Okay. Thatâs concerning. Uh⌠You know what? Before he goes and talks to his friends, why doesnât he go check on Fawcett first?
So, he left the rock, and guess what? The blizzard is still going. Heâd be lying if he said this didnât peeve him. Thankfully, it was daytime, so that means the Old Man would probably let him in the store again.
Old Man: âThere you are! You had me worried.â
Billy: âSorry.â *sounds ashamed*
Old Man: âThereâs no need to apologize. Itâs just, you said you would be back the next day, and you never came. I thought something had happened to you! Iâve been stress cooking ever since.â *puts a large bag of food into Billyâs hands*
Billy: âI didnât mean to stress you. You donât have to give me this.â
Old Man: âYes I do.â *points to the spot Billy sat the day he had come in* âNow go sit and eat.â
Billy: âYes, Mister.â *trudges over me eats, feeling bad for making the man worry*
Soon though, Billy had to leave again. He said goodbye to the Old Man and started walking to the blistering cold. He had to find another place to sleep. He looked up the now night sky. He had an idea. It was a stupid one, but it was an idea nonetheless.
The intercom over head announced Captain Marvelâs presence in the watchtower. Wally paused in eating the quadruple double triple quintuple sandwich he made himself. Wasnât it like 10 pm in Fawcett or something? Cap almost never came to the Watchtower after seven unless it was for monitor duty. The speedster quickly finished his sandwich and decided to go see if something was wrong.
Eventually, he found the Captain near the sleeping quarters. Most members of the JL had one. That included Cap, but as far as Wally knew, Marvel hadnât so much as stepped foot in that room.
âCap, buddy! Whatâre you doing here so late?â Flash asked, causing Marvel to startle.
âOh uh⌠I thought Iâd get some sleep.â The Captain said, anxiousness rolling off him in waves.
âI thought you didnât need to sleep?â
âWell, I donât, but I still like to, yâknow?â Marvel said, scratching the back of his neck.
Flash shook his head. âNot really.â
A small, out of place, awkward silence filled the hallway where they stood for a moment before Flash spoke up again, âWhere have you been all week-â
âNight!â Cap cut him off, quickly entering the room and letting the door shut behind him, abruptly ending the conversation.
Wally stood there for a few moments. Okay⌠Something was definitely wrong with his buddy. Had the speedster done something to upset him? He turned to start walking away. Heâd talk to his buddy later.
Wally got maybe seven feet away before he heard a loud crash that sounded like lighting and then loud alarms that started ringing throughout the Watchtower. Something about an intruder? Batman walked over to him. Where he came from, only god knows.
âFlash.â Bruce greeted him as he passed, stopping in front of the door Marvel disappeared into just a few moments before.
âSpooky, whatâs going on?â Flash sped over to stand next to him.
âThereâs an intruder in this room.â Batman replied, as soon as he finished speaking, another large crash of lightning could be heard. The alarm then stopped blaring. This made the Dark Knight pause and start tapping something on the tablet Wally just realized the other man was holding.
âDid something happen?â Wally asked, leaning over to try and see the tablet.
âThe intruder is gone. The Watchtowerâs also sustained two major electrical strikes that traveled through the tower, temporarily shut down anything in its way. They traveled to this room.â Bruce said.
It was at that moment, Marvel decided to make an appearance. He looked panicked, and when he registered Batman was standing in front of him, the panic seemed to increase. âMister Batman Sir! HeeeeeeeyâŚâ
âCaptain, thereâs an intru-â Batman didnât get to finish that sentence before Marvel interrupted him.
âSorry Mister Batman Sir, but I really gotta be going.â Marvel said hurriedly before speed walking to the zetas. Wally and Bruce watched him go.
Billy shouldâve known it was too stupid of an idea to work! He wanted to see if he could detransform and sleep in the bed of the room, but nooooooooo it just had to trigger the alarm. Billy wasnât proud about interrupting so many (two) people today, but he really, really needed to go because as soon as Flash and Batman step into his room, theyâre gonna see two dark lightning marks on the floor. Then theyâre gonna try and ask questions. Then thatâs gonna lead to Billy having to explain that he can summon lightning to change into a little kid. Then theyâre gonna get mad Billy lied to them about being an adult. Then, theyâre gonna try stopping him from being a hero, and from there his life as a hero and as Billy Batson will crumble to literal dust.
Around fifteen minutes after Marvel left⌠Flash was pacing, practically making trails in the ground, âSpooky, he was gone for a week! Not only that but he was acting weird and we got a notification of a security breach. This might sound crazy, but I think it might be that worm thing he mentioned.â
âWorm thing?â Batman asked, sounding incredulous. Wally was wondering why he found that of all the things theyâve seen and heard unbelievable.
âYeah! He said one of his villains is this little worm that crawls into your ear and takes control your brain.â Flash said, one of his fingers doing a weird wiggling motion as if to resemble a worm.
âSo you think heâs being mind controlled?â Supes asked, sounding super concerned. Oh right, heâs here too. Heâd just gotten off monitor duty with Jâonn. At the moment, the Martian was in the kitchen getting some snacks.
âYes!â Flash exclaimed. âIt could explain why he up and disappeared.â
âFlash, for all we know, he couldâve been gone due to a family emergency or something along those lines.â Batman spoke.
âWell⌠just to be safeâŚ?â Supes started, sounding cautious as he trailed off and nodded to a nearby cabinet the three, or at least Clark and Bruce, knew housed bug spray.
That was how they ended up cornering Marvel in Fawcett, Superman restraining the man while Batman sprayed bug spray in his face and ears. Meanwhile Flash was standing to the side nervously, holding a jar in case a certain green worm actually crawls out of Marvelâs ear.
So yeah, today was not Billyâs day, let alone week. Also, it turned out that there was a magical creature that was causing the blizzards. He proceeded to promptly beat it up for all the trouble and embarrassment it inadvertently caused him.
Donât ask why I stopped formatting the dialogue the way I normally do for a couple seconds. I donât even know. Thatâs actually why I didnât post around eleven like I normally do. It was taking a while.

If the fire, sulfur, black iron, and devils every which way didn't give it away, both of us aren't in a place you want to be after you die. I'd offer you a drink but the only things they offer you usually came out of... Well. You. My own blood has a pretty good palete.
You don't have to panic. Not yet. You aren't dead, again, not yet. You're only here because everyone gets a fair warning. So change your ways, yadda yadda, find Christ, yadda yadda... Can you tell my heart isn't in it? Good. At least they'll vary up the torture for it. You get sick of eating hunks off of yourself and still being able to feel it the whole time.
Oh... You want to know what I did for that punishment? Well. It started when I was alive. I killed a man in self defense. Robber broke in, I shot him. And it was all down hill from there. I moved out to the woods after the third guy... Mostly because the best I could do there was plead manslaughter.
Anyway. I bought a plot of land not too far from a hiking trail, built a little shack. Turned it into quite the operation. I was a one-man Sawyer family. I had butcher knives, cleavers, cutting boards, sausage stuffers... I remember the first time I ate a man in those woods. The first woman was alright. I screwed up the spices for her liver, though. Live and learn. All in all? I musta got about twelve or thirteen hapless hikers where they needed to be. And I ate like a king for six years.
Why only six? Throw another skull on the fire and I'll tell you... Thank you. See. One night, another guy came traipsing up the path. Another lost and weary traveler. Two in one day, would you believe it? But winter was coming. So a quick stock up in the event of being snowed in was necessary. Problem was I was outside having a smoke and I was still draining the latest one. If he saw that there'd be no mistake what I was up to.
So here comes a seven foot slab of man. Treating the cold around him like it wasn't much of an issue. One thin hoodie over a thin T-shirt and some overalls. I took to a short conversation with him as I sized him up. He had about a foot of height on me and he was built. Big country, cornfed son of a bitch.
"Who're you?" "Who are you?" "Why are you on my property?" "You can own property this close to a hiking trail?" So on and so on... And then I asked if he knew how to get back to the trail. It was getting dark, you see. I offered to help him back if He'd just let me nab my hiking boots. He agreed and I tried to circle around him. I figured he would still be looking at my front door. Waiting like a big old dog.
But when I exited the side, butcher knife in hand, he was holding a woodcutter's axe. Still looking at the door though. I could tell his tool wasn't mine. Crazy bastard must have had it strapped to his back... I took the chance and leapt at him from the side. He shook me off but the fight forced the door to my cabin open and he got a good look at the woman on the hook. I had left the TV on and was listening to it as I smoked, lit her up enough to see.
I'll remember until eternity, when else is there to remember to down here? But I'll remember until eternity what he said after I got to my feet. "Well... This is awkward," and I think it was a joke. I don't know. But I couldn't help but laugh. "I suppose it is."
But we looked at each other... And we kept sizing each other up. I knew my chances of surviving a face-to-face fight with a bigger man with more reach were minimal... If I recall correctly, he didn't want to fight. "We don't have to do this. I could help you butcher if you want..." But I tell you no lie when I tell you meeting a kindred spirit. One so forceful. One so... Comparatively Jovial. I was in love. And love makes us all do crazy things.
The next few minutes for both of us was a game of hack-and-seek. And we were both it. I don't know if he felt the same, but I think we were both having fun slinking around my house and yard. It was a hell of a way to spend my last hour or so on Earth.
But he caught me. I rounded just the wrong corner and he had me by the scruff of my neck. His weapon, unwieldy as it was with a single hand gave me just the time I needed. I stabbed him in the throat just in time to feel the axe crack though my rib cage and split my heart. I died on top of him... I remember trying to kiss him but I don't think I got close enough to his chin.
And now I feel it is another punishment for me. To never see my darling Francis again... I take some solice knowing he hasn't seen me, either... Maybe it means he felt the same. Who can say?
... Your presence in this realm is fading... Well, your arm is translucent, that's usually a dead give away, no pun intended... Just remember. Change your ways. Or you might end up with a good view of what's happening to everyone else while what happens to you, whatever it is, goes on and on. And on. And on. And on. And on.
After successfully leading your next target to your murder-shed in the woods, they pull out an axe from themself and proclaim "oh, this is awkward."

Right Where I Want You.
Terry Richmond x BLACK!FEM!Reader
WARNINGS: Rough sex (Nothing too serious, she just chokes him a lil), Dirty talk, DOM!reader, SUB!Terry, Mommy kink (yeah you heard me, we get real nasty over here..), PWP, Short!, Not completely proof read.
SUMMARY: nah. lol
âŽâŽâŽâŽ
the sound of clapping could be heard from the next room over even with the door closed. They both made no moves to quiet down either, the squeaky springs of the bed only applauded her on her bouncing, giving her the praises she needed for taking a dick this size. The stretch was delicious, the girth making her feel stuffed, and the length reaching places so deep that she could barely sit down all the way.
But how she rode was already enough for Terry, she didnât have to sit all the way. He was already so gone. The way Terry was moaning her name with curses following, youâd think that was the only english he knew.
Her heels dug into the bed beneath them, the sensation of the soft silks against his bare skin heightening his pleasure. He had begged her just minutes before to use him, fuck him into his own bed and leave him wondering why you hadnât come along sooner, why he didnât come find you instead. He didnât care if it was pathetic, there was some things he could live with happily without embarrassment. There was just something about you that could make a man kneel at your feet, cry, even.
âEnjoying yourself?â
She asks before moaning, her head lulling back for a second as she felt the tip of him brush over exactly where she wanted him the most. Her voice was so tantalizing, laced with a sweetheart tone and dominance as she knew she could take away what he needed the most in this moment; a tight pussy gripping his dick and a nut that would send him to another dimension. She knew damn well he was doing more than enjoying himself.
His abs tightened under his brown skin and he cried out, opting to hold onto the headboard instead of her hips to avoid her stopping like she did last time he touched her without permission.
âFuck, baby!â
His hips bucked wildly as the sensitivity of him became almost unbearable. He hadnât even came yet, multiple orgasms purposely ruined being the reason for the constant tightness in his balls and stomach. She, on the other hand, had already came three times. On his fingers, on his face, on that dick. Her cream stuck to his shaft and balls, making wet, sticky sounds every time her fat ass bounced back down on him, making him release another spurt of precum into her walls.
Her cream was still warm, used as lube to help her ride that thick dick efficiently enough to have him seeing stars.
And stars he did indeed see, the glasses perched on his nose providing no help with vision as he clenched his eyes closed.
âYou boutta cum for me, baby? You know better to ask mommy firstâ
She runs her pierced tongue over her lips and begins rubbing her poor little clit with her dominant hand, ignoring the indescribable pain from sensitivity that also somehow brought her pleasure. She used her other hand to slowly wrap itself around Terryâs throat, squeezing slightly to bring him out his euphoric daze.
Once he had opened his eyes, he got to admire her again, eyes flickering from her pretty face to the urging hand between her thighs.
She went even harder on him, staring into his piercing eyes with a clear desire to break him just in case any other bitch thought she could do what she does to him. No one else could have him, a grown man, begging to be fucked, on his knees with his face in her lap.
âYou like when I fuck you like this. You like when I use youâ She guides him into a nod, a satisfied smile on her face as he agrees.
âYes- fuck!â
âMhmm. You love this pussy donât you?â
âYes, yes, yes! I love this pussy, mommyâ
His words sent her into overdrive. That was the first time he had ever compiled and called her the self given pet name. She knew he was right where she wanted him now. There was nothing he wouldnât say or do for her.
âCum inside me, baby. Fill mommy upâ

All the time we wish for.
Cregan Stark x wife!reader
SMUT SMUT SMUT SMUT just smut dude
Summary: Cregan is eager to show his wife the Northern hot springs.
A/n: Based on an ask from forever ago- I think from @princessvelaryon before we became friends but I can't remember đđ queen if it was you, you're a real one
Masterlist
...........................................
"Cregan, where are w-"
"-Just trust me, sweet girl. Trust me."
She eyes him, not able to stay angry at the happiness that radiates from him. "I doâŚ" she trailed off.
"Almost there. Should be rightâŚ" his head turned back and forth in search of something. "Ah." He pulled her in the direction his eyes were set on.Â
He pulls her into a cave, immediately moving to take off her cloak. She pulls away in concern at first- taking off a cloak in the dead of winter here feels like a death sentence. But his head tilted just slightly and he moved forward to do it again, to which she let him.Â
The fur dropped onto the ground of the cave. She looked over her shoulder at it.Â
At the sight of her neck exposed, Cregan leaned to her and nipped at the skin.Â
She jumped, a breath escaping her. "Cregan, my cloak-"
"The cold won't seep into your bones here," he muttered against her neck.Â
"What?"
"You're not cold, are you?" He asked.
She looked down to the goosebumps on her arms, but she knew it wasn't from the cold.Â
He lips pulled into a small smile. "My father showed me my first hot spring when I was a boy of six. Warmed us when snow fell a moon before it was supposed to. I've been hunting these spots out for years now. But this one is by far my favorite."
She took in the sight, walking further into the cave. Exactly as he said, the further she moved in, the less the cold could bother her. She looked back to him, to which he waved out, encouraging her to explore it more.Â
A light waterfall poured into a small pool of water, steam waving around it.Â
He moved behind her, now without his own cloak. His fingers brushed against her arm. "Do you want to try it?"
"You can⌠get in?"
"You can. If you want."
"I do," she breathed as she stared out at the water.
Cregan's fingers moved to her dress, pulling at the laces. His scarred and calloused fingers became gentle with her, as if handling thin glass. The laces were pulled with a gentleness she didn't even feel, but she knew from the way his arms moved from her peripheral vision and the loosening of her dress.Â
Eventually, she had to hold the dress up as he finished. It would have been hard to tell when he was finished if not for the sudden kisses he began to place on her shoulder. The rough pads of his fingers pushed away the material.Â
She let go, letting it fall to the ground. Cregan took on the next challenge of her thin layers of underskirt, but he was quick to pull the ribbons apart. Piece by piece, her clothing fell onto the dirt covered floor of the cave, but neither really cared.
She was growing impatient, and by the time Cregan had untied the last bit of her skirt, she was all but tearing at her shift. Her fingers fumbled with the buttons, the adrenaline doing nothing to help her coordination. He pushed her up against his chest, reaching his arms around to help her.Â
She watched his large fingers unbutton each one at a pace too slow for her. "Cregan-"
"-We have all the time we wish for," He murmured.
She forced herself to take a small breath, though it was shaky.Â
Cregan's hand ran down her stomach once he finished, admiring the woman against him.Â
She whined lightly and leaned her head back against his shoulder, to which she earned a chuckle from him. His hand moved down her shift, grabbing the fabric and beginning to pull it up at an agonizingly slow pace.Â
She felt the air move up her legs as the shift came up until it paused at her upper thigh. "Don't stop now."
"Should I?" He asked as his nose pressed to the side of her head, his voice in her ear. "I do love to watch you beg, my love."
"You either continue the Stark line with me in this hot spring-"
"Or what?" He asked with a smirk, pulling away from her and turning her to face him. Her shift fell back down.
Her confidence faltered for a second, then turned to teasing. "Or the line ends with you."
A low growl sounded from his throat. His eyes raked over her slowly as a new light came to his eyes. "Take it off."
She did so, dropping it quickly as Cregan focused on the strings of his doublet.Â
As soon as she was bare, she moved to help Cregan but he held a hand out as his eyes took her in. He spoke, but his voice trailed off a bit as if distracted by the sight. "I've⌠I've got it."
She tilted her head in amusement and ran a hand down his chest, accepting his decision. She moved down to the spring, sitting at the edge, and dipped her leg in. She let out an instinctive groan at the feeling.
Cregan's lips parted as he watched her. He truly did mean to undress himself, but he was distracted.Â
"Cregan," she chided at him lightly.Â
He gave a heavy blink and snapped out of his daze, "Sorry, I-"
She gave him a knowing look.Â
He made quick work of pulling off his doublet, yanking at the strings of the next layer until he stood in only his trousers and boots.Â
He stepped down to her side, standing behind her with a hesitation.
She peered up at him from under her lashes.Â
He felt the tent in his pants at the sight, one he was more familiar with than he cared to admit. It reminded him of all the nights he had returned to their chambers in a rage from planning for this war. She had always sat on that sofa with a knowing smile, asking if he was stressed.Â
She had a way of taking away his stress before he even remembered how it got there.Â
"Changing your mind now?" She asked him softly.
He shook his head, sitting down next to her and beginning to unlace his boots. "I'd like to believe I'm a man that follows through."
She kicked at the water lightly. "Follow through then."
Cregan's breath hitched as he looked to her. "I will."
He pulled his boots off, throwing them aside and pulling at his pants. He quickly got into the small pool, letting out a sinful groan as the warmth enveloped him.Â
She watched the man with pure adoration in her eyes. The way his broad shoulders flexed as he lowered himself made her brush her thighs together.Â
He turned in the water, now facing her with a broad smile. He pulled himself to her and kissed her leg lightly. He nuzzled at her knee, silently asking her to spread her legs. She hesitated, knowing his smile would only turn cocky if she did so.Â
He brought a hand up, the water dripping down his wrist. His fingers brushed up her calf to her knee, pushing that leg to the side. His eyes moved slowly to her core, his eyes lighting up.Â
She felt her entire body heat up as her husband admired her. Though she wanted to close her legs, she'd never felt safer.Â
He kissed her leg lightly, holding her leg out to give him room. He began to kiss up her leg.Â
She reached out quickly behind his head to pull his hair up before it dipped in the water. He grinned up at her and continued his movements.Â
She watched in agony as his lips moved closer and closer to the very place she wanted them. When his lips ghosted over her clit, his breath brushing over it became antagonizing. She tugged at his hair in instinct, earning a playful glare of lust from the man. His light eyes had a dark intent behind them, a sin neither of them were ashamed of.Â
Cregan laid a soft kiss to her slit, purposefully bumping his nose against her bundle of nerves. A small squeak sounded from her, spurring something deep inside of him.Â
He stood in the pool, grabbing her hips firmly and lowering her into the water against him. She held his shoulders, relaxing in the warm water.Â
He shifted her lightly, now completely wrapping his arm around her so their bodies were as close as possible, his face tucking into her neck and kissing at the skin.Â
Her head fell back, her mouth opening in bliss. As she had done earlier with him, Cregan grabbed her hair, clumping it in one large hand while pulling at the roots as well. It was a mission to him to keep her hair dry, for if it didn't, she'd surely freeze once out of the cave.Â
"Cregan, please."
The hand around her waist fell, moving down between her thighs. He rubbed at her slit through the water, slipping a finger in.Â
She gasped.Â
âŚ
It's an unspoken fact that most Starks were created in the Northern hot springs, and there's no doubt that one was created that cold day.Â
Cregan had never been more thankful for the sudden snow.

She hummed, looking over your recent arrangement with a proud gaze. âI can understand that. Itâs been a bit since youâve been in a relationship,â she said, giving your arm a small squeeze. âBut donât be too apprehensive, dear. Itâs okay to let someone in.â You bit your tongue when you wanted to blurt out that Bucky didnât just let himself in. He tore through your life and made a home for himself in the ashes. But Mrs. Crandle meant well and didnât know what was going on.
Mrs. Cradle probably means well but let's calm down a bit đĽ´
âI can work through it. There are still a few orders to finish,â you protested, which was a reasonable excuse. âIâm not making you work through lunch.â She looked offended by the very idea. And of course, she wouldnât give you an out. Like most of your small circle of friends and loved ones, they wanted you to find a partner. âAnd donât worry about the orders, dear. You two lovebirds go and take as long as you want.â
She truly is too nice đŹ
Much like walking into the club, you felt out of place as you walked through the cafe. Not because it wasnât your scene, but because of the special sort of treatment. You didnât want it. Though the ambience of the fairy lights and privacy wouldâve been sweet and romantic otherwise.
That's so eerie đŤŁ
Buckyâs hand lingered until she was out of sight. âI donât appreciate that she didnât look your way,â he said, shrugging his jacket off before he took a seat. You could see the tension in his shoulders, his gloved left hand flexing slightly. âItâs clear that weâre here together on a lunch date.â âNo, itâs not. Itâs disrespectful. Iâm here with you. Iâm not interested in her or anyone else.â His eyes were as cold as ice when he pushed the menu away, making you shiver. âIâm not like my dad.â âI know Iâm the only one you see,â you said, reaching over to touch his hand. He took it the second it was within reach. You didnât think heâd do anything to hurt or damage the hostess in any way over something harmless in your eyes, but maybe offering a bit of assurance would distract him. âI donât know your dad, but I can sense that you arenât him.â
Ohhh this is something that truly gets his gears turning
He observed you, almost in morbid curiosity as you waited for him to respond. You knew what the answer was going to be, but you wanted to believe your paranoia was getting to you. âFirst, your apartment isnât your home. The penthouse is going to be our home together and maybe thatâll finally sink in once youâre living there,â he answered, your eyes wide. âAnd second, of course I have bugs around your place. Visual, audio, you name it. Iâm not exactly trying to hide that Iâm watching you as much as possible.â
The way he says it so nonchalantly is truly mind boggling đĽ´
âYouâre not exactly trying to hide it? You hid it by not telling me!â You accused him, the gaslighting bastard. âHow could you do that?â He shrugged, which only upset you more. âMentioning the collar was a pretty big hint. Do you really think Iâd bring it up if I didnât want you to know I was watching or listening in?â âYouâŚâ You let out a breath and swallowed back tears. He really did want you to know. âYou want me to feel scared, don't you, like when you broke in. Because when you scare me or make me feel uneasy, you can control me more and get me to do what you want. Youâre sick.â
What she said âđť
You swallowed thickly. He was never going to budge. âYou sit there and act like youâre a decent guy because you havenât forced yourself on me and you wonât raise a hand to me, but youâre still a monster,â you said, your gaze vulnerable and open. He had to see how upset you were, how he caused you to feel. His expression didnât change, except for his eyes. They looked as sad as you felt. âMaybe I am,â he whispered.
This is heavy...
âIâŚâ You went silent when he slid a hand up your torso and rested it on your chest. Could you play along to calm him down? âI guess we can go shopping. Nothing too fancy, right?â âWhatever makes you happy. I just want my girl to be happy.â He groaned when you willingly ran your fingers through his hair. âAnd youâll love me like I love you. I know you will.â
This just makes my skin crawl đĽ´

You busied yourself with orders after Clark left, but it didnât stop you from looking toward the door every few minutes. You werenât sure if you were expecting him to return or if you were anticipating Bucky arriving. Why were you allowing him to consume your thoughts again? You needed to concentrate on your job, the thing you loved and helped pay your bills.
Mrs. Crandle gave you a smile when you checked the time, too. âIf I didnât know any better, Iâd say you were excited to see this young man who thinks heâs your boyfriend,â she commented.
âI donât know if excited is the word Iâd use,â you said, trying to smile through your nerves. âApprehensive, maybe?â
She hummed, looking over your recent arrangement with a proud gaze. âI can understand that. Itâs been a bit since youâve been in a relationship,â she said, giving your arm a small squeeze. âBut donât be too apprehensive, dear. Itâs okay to let someone in.â
You bit your tongue when you wanted to blurt out that Bucky didnât just let himself in. He tore through your life and made a home for himself in the ashes. But Mrs. Crandle meant well and didnât know what was going on. âWell, he offered to be my date to Addisonâs wedding and she was very happy to hear that.â
âOh, Iâll bet sheâs thrilled for you,â she said. Addison stopped by the shop a few times and your boss adored her and the friendship you two had. âAnd if Iâm not mistaken, thatâs your date walking in,â she smiled, nodding toward the door.
Your stomach dropped when Bucky entered the shop with a tender smile on his face. âHi, doll,â he said, heading right to you and pressing a kiss to your forehead. âI hope Iâm not too early to take you to lunch, but I donât mind waiting if youâre busy.â
âOh, itâs not too early at all,â Mrs. Crandle said before you could protest. âItâs nice to see such a fine young man take one of my best workers to lunch.â
Bucky put his right hand to his chest. âA fine young man? You flatter me, Mrs. Crandle. It is Mrs. Crandle, right?â He held the same hand out after she nodded. Of course, he knew her name. You almost smacked his arm away, not wanting the man who disrupted your life to touch your boss. âEveryone calls me Bucky. Itâs nice to meet you.â
âItâs very nice to meet you, too,â she said, giving you a wink. One smile from the man and she was under his spell. âI hear the two of you may be attending Addisonâs wedding together.â
You gave her a pointed look when Bucky smiled your way, wishing she hadnât brought it up. She either ignored your stare or didnât notice. âThatâs the plan. I know the day will be all about Addison and Brady, as it should be, but my eyes will be on my girl,â Bucky smiled, giving the shop an appreciative look as your stomach flipped. âAnd itâs easy to see why she loves working here. You have a beautiful place.â
âThank you. It really is a group effort to keep this place alive,â she said, turning her attention to you. âWell, what are you waiting for? Get your bag and go enjoy your lunch.â
âI can work through it.
Lovebirds?
âIâll try not to keep her too long,â Bucky said as you went to get your purse. âSo, how long have you owned your shop?â
You blocked out the chatter between them, taking a breath to steady yourself. How many times had you imagined a boyfriend surprising you at work just because they wanted to take you to lunch? Or even just because they wanted to see you? You got your wish, didnât you?
âIâll be back soon,â you smiled as Bucky wrapped an arm around your lower back, crowding your space like always. Mrs. Crandle looked over the moon and you made sure the smile stayed on your face until Bucky led you out of the shop. âSucking up to my boss? Really?â
Bucky chuckled. âI wasnât sucking up. Just making conversation,â he said. The small conversation won her over. âAnd didn't you try to get Ray on your side this morning?â
He had a point, but you ignored it. âWhere are we eating?â You asked, though you didnât have much of an appetite.
âI got us a table at a cafe close by,â he said, tightening his arm around you. âI figured you wouldnât want to go far in case you had to get back to work.â
âThatâs thoughtful,â you said, though it was actually nice that he didnât want you to venture far.
âIâm a thoughtful guy,â he teased. Making sure it was safe to go, he helped you cross the street. Ray stayed in the car, but you sensed him watching and wondered if heâd join you. âAnd I got us a private table on the back patio. No one should bother us.â
âThey do private tables at this cafe?â You asked as he held the door open with a smirk. He probably threw a bit of money their way to make it happen and you almost wished there would be others around so youâd feel a bit more comfortable.
âWelcome, Mr. Barnes,â a woman smiled, not bothering to look your way as she grabbed a couple of menus. âWe have your table set up if youâll follow me,â she said, gesturing for you to head to the back.
Much like walking into the club, you felt out of place as you walked through the cafe. Not because it wasnât your scene, but because of the special sort of treatment. You didnât want it. Though the ambience of the fairy lights and privacy wouldâve been sweet and romantic otherwise.
âThe server should be here in a moment, but please let me know if you need anything,â the hostess smiled, her gaze lingering on Bucky as he pulled out your chair. âAnything at all, Mr. Barnes.â
You felt a bit small as you sat down and eyed the hostess. It was her job to be friendly, but she hadnât exactly acknowledged you and made it obvious that she specifically wanted Buckyâs attention. You wouldnât say you were jealous and part of you understood why sheâd want him to look her way. Still, wouldnât the general assumption be that you two were a couple?
We are not a couple.
You looked up at Bucky when he rested a hand on your shoulder, but there was nothing flirtatious or warm about the smile on his face. âIf my girl or I need anything, weâll say so,â he said in a cool and courteous tone.
âOf course.â The hostess faltered slightly as she set the menus down, but recovered quickly. âEnjoy,â she added, scurrying off.
Buckyâs hand lingered until she was out of sight. âI donât appreciate that she didnât look your way,â he said, shrugging his jacket off before he took a seat. You could see the tension in his shoulders, his gloved left hand flexing slightly. âItâs clear that weâre here together on a lunch date.â
Your eyes flickered to him as he looked over the menu, his jaw clenched. The hostess giving him attention bothered him much more than it bothered you. âItâs okay, Bucky,â you said.
âNo, itâs not. Itâs disrespectful. Iâm here with you. Iâm not interested in her or anyone else.â His eyes were as cold as ice when he pushed the menu away, making you shiver. âIâm not like my dad.â
âI know Iâm the only one you see,â you said, reaching over to touch his hand. He took it the second it was within reach. You didnât think heâd do anything to hurt or damage the hostess in any way over something harmless in your eyes, but maybe offering a bit of assurance would distract him. âI donât know your dad, but I can sense that you arenât him.â
At least, he wasnât entirely like him. His ruthlessness came from something or someone. His dad may fit the bill.
âHe cheated on my mom when she was nothing but good to him. She was good to everyone and he threw it back in her face,â he sneered. You could practically taste the bitterness from his words and it broke your heart. It was no wonder he wanted you to believe so badly that heâd be faithful to you. âAnd Iâm glad that piece of shit will never lay eyes on you or anyone else.â
âIâm so sorry,â you said, aching for the pain his mom likely experienced and him by extension. Regardless of the man he was, he held his mom in high regard and she didnât deserve an unfaithful partner. âI know that doesnât change anything, but I am.â
Buckyâs gaze softened considerably. âI know you are and I appreciate that more than you know.â He rubbed a thumb over your skin, his shoulders starting to relax. âThe cheating wasnât even the worst of it,â he muttered before the server walked in with a pitcher of water.
What else did his dad do?
âHi. Iâll be taking care of you today,â the server smiled, sweeping a look over both of you as he poured each of you a glass. Bucky barely smiled back. He didnât want people ignoring you, but he didnât want gazes lingering for too long either. âHave you had a chance to look over the menu or would you like something else to drink?â
âIâm fine with water and I think weâre ready,â you said, pointing out one of the entrees. You didnât want to draw out lunch longer than it had to be. âThank you.â
âIâll have the same. And take your time,â Bucky said, handing the menus back. His smile didnât brighten again until the server left. âTalking about my dad is dampening the mood. Howâs work going today?â
The subject change was jarring, but you imagined he didnât want to dwell on the unpleasant topic. It also wasnât a good time to ask about his mom and the flowers. âWork is fine.â
âJust fine?â
You debated if you should say anything about Clark. You didnât want him on Buckyâs radar, but what if Bucky somehow found out and you didnât say anything? Telling him was the better option. âWell, thereâs a regular customer who stopped in. Heâs going through a break-up and actually tried to give me a couple of roses since I was kind to him, but I didnât take them,â you explained, trying not to make a big deal of it.
The glint in Buckyâs eyes made you nervous, but you knew any malice wasn't aimed your way. âHe tried to give you roses and you didnât take them?â He asked evenly.
âNo, I didnât. I told him to give them to someone else as Iâm very much not interested in getting flowers. Except maybe from you,â you assured him, his lips twitching up. That was a good sign. âWhat about you? Howâs work?â You added, hoping to shift the topic back to him.
A moment of silence passed before he nodded. âIf he persists or bothers you, let me know first thing and Iâll take care of it,â he said. You had a feeling the topic of Clark was far from done and you didnât want to know how heâd take care of it. âI do have to go to the club late tonight, but I was thinking we could go shopping after your shift.â
âShopping?â You raised an eyebrow. âShopping for what?â
âI did offer to get you a new outfit for your girls day,â he said, rubbing circles on your hand. âAnd a collar.â
The nagging feeling in the back of your mind went off. That was the second time he brought that up. One would think he was doing it on purpose. âYou know, I mentioned you getting me a collar, but that was something I said when I was alone this morning. Along with a couple of other things you've mentioned, itâs too much of a coincidence to me that youâre suggesting it,â you said carefully, sitting up straighter. âDo you have cameras or something in my home? Be honest, please.â
You felt sick at the admission, thankful that you hadnât eaten anything. How much did he see and hear? Did he listen to your talk with Addison? Watch you shower? Sleep? He continued to violate your privacy and had no shame at all in doing so. Enough was enough.
âYouâre not exactly trying to hide it? You hid it by not telling me!â You accused him, the gaslighting bastard. âHow could you do that?â
He shrugged, which only upset you more. âMentioning the collar was a pretty big hint. Do you really think Iâd bring it up if I didnât want you to know I was watching or listening in?â
âYouâŚâ You let out a breath and swallowed back tears. He really did want you to know. âYou want me to feel scared, don't you, like when you broke in. Because when you scare me or make me feel uneasy, you can control me more and get me to do what you want. Youâre sick.â
He reached out and gripped your hand again before you could push yourself away from the table. âI thought we established that Iâm not trying to control you. How many times do I have to say it?â
âAnd yet everything you do says otherwise,â you said. It was all a tactic to him. A game. âWhen will your actions back up your words?â
âI told you this morning my place is safer than yours. The security measures in your building are a joke. Do you realize how easy it was for me to get in and to break into your place? I hardly broke a sweat and that means anyone could get in and get to you. So, yes, there are devices in place so I can make sure youâre safe when Iâm not there.â He shook his head at your glare. His reasoning didnât excuse his actions. âI understand if youâre mad at me, but I did say I wonât give you a choice when it comes to your safety and I wonât apologize for that either.â
You stared at each other, his gaze as firm as his stance. As much as you wanted to throw something, the dishes werenât yours and you didnât want to create a mess for the staff to clean up. âYouâre really telling yourself youâre watching me for my protection? Who the hell is going to protect me from you, Bucky?â You took a breath when his eyes widened, as if your words hurt him. âNo one, with the exception of you, is going to break into my place for any reason. I have nothing of value there, except for the necklace you gave me.â
âYou are valuable,â he said, squeezing your hand and resolute in that belief. âHow can you not see that?â
âBecause Iâm just a regular person and thereâs nothing wrong with that.â Your voice shook, but you couldn't stop. âWith the exception of you, no one will look twice at me, let alone break into my place.â
He shook his head. âYou donât know that.â
âNo, I donât because life is unpredictable and watching me doesnât guarantee that nothing will happen to me,â you said, narrowing your eyes in thought. âIs this really about protecting me or are you projecting what your dad did to your mom on me? Do you think I wonât be faithful to you in this ârelationshipâ you think we have, so you have to watch me at all times to prove Iâm yours?â
Bucky made a sound like you hit him and asking was a bit of a low blow, but it was a possibility. âKotyonok, youâre one of the most loyal and faithful people I know. Youâd never do anything to make me question that.â
âYou trust me?â You asked softly. He nodded without hesitation. âThen help me trust you. Get the devices out of my place for starters since you had no right to put them there to begin with. Please, get rid of them.â
Youâd never feel completely safe or comfortable there again, you hadn't since he broke in, but he had to give you that.
âI'll get rid of them,â he said after a moment.
That felt too easy, but you felt relief all the same. âThank you. That's-â
âAfter you move into the penthouse because I'm not going to give a shit about the people who move into your apartment after you,â he clarified.
The server chose the perfect time to show up with your meals. âHere we are!â he announced, setting the food down and taking no notice of the heavy tension between you and Bucky. âEnjoy.â
Neither of you spoke as you ate, but he watched you expectantly. He wasnât going to change his mind about the bugs in your apartment or anything else and he didnât deserve your fire. So you had nothing to say. Nothing at all. You were exactly what he called you: a doll.
âDonât you dare,â he finally spoke when you took money out of your wallet and set it on the table. âThis is a date and Iâm paying.â
âThis isnât a date, Bucky, no matter how much you want it to be,â you said quietly, his eyes flashing. âAnd I need to go back to work.â
You gasped when he bent the fork he held in his left hand, your heart pounding in fear as you looked around. The server hadnât been back to check on you and the two of you were all alone. What was he going to do? âWhat? You think Iâm going to hurt you after I promised I wouldnât?â He asked, setting the destroyed utensil down. âBecause Iâm a monster, right?â
âI didnâtâŚâ You couldnât say you didnât mean it because you did, but deep down it wasnât your intention to make him angry. You shouldâve known better, but your emotions were getting the better of you when you had to play it smart.
âA monster who hurts people?â He asked in a deep voice you didnât recognize. âKills people?â
You gripped the sides of your chair, fear creeping in more. âBucky, what are you talking about?â You whispered. Why was he saying that?
He blinked and shook his head. âWhy wonât you just let me love you?â He asked, suddenly getting up to round the table. He pulled your chair out before you could get up and dropped to his knees, uncaring of ruining his pants. âAll I want is you,â he whispered, resting his head in your lap.
Your body went taut when his hands moved up your thighs. Did he remember or care that you were at a cafe? âI-I know you want me.â
âI know the bugs in your place are upsetting and I know Iâm being stubborn about it, so let me make it up to you a little bit, please?â He asked, lifting his head to gaze at you. âLet me take you shopping tonight. Let me spoil you.â
âIâŚâ You went silent when he slid a hand up your torso and rested it on your chest. Could you play along to calm him down? âI guess we can go shopping. Nothing too fancy, right?â
âWhatever makes you happy. I just want my girl to be happy.â He groaned when you willingly ran your fingers through his hair. âAnd youâll love me like I love you. I know you will.â
You waved off the server when he tried to check on you and gave Bucky a shaky smile. Youâd go shopping with him, keep him happy, and pray he wouldnât continue to suffocate you with his version of love. It was too late though. The very oxygen you breathed now was what he fed into your lungs. And the monster that lurked beneath the surface, the one who needed you, was eventually going to break through and get what he wanted.
Maybe heâd get a taste tonight.
So, I wanted a bit of action in this part, but the muse refused. I swear the conversations are happening for a reason and we may see some action during the shopping trip. What are we going to do knowing your place really is bugged? And is he going to look into Clark more? Love and thanks for reading! â¤ď¸

pairing: Spencer Reid x fem!reader summary: You and Spencer come back to his apartment, and your boyfriendâs drunken state brings old wounds to the surface. words: 2,3k warnings: angst, panic attack, drunk Spencer, mentions reader's ex-bf who was an alcoholic, no y/n a/n: I'm imagining later seasons Spence but I am not gonna yuck anybody's yam!
You smoothly place the keys in the lock of his apartment and quickly turn them twice to unlock the door. The dark room abruptly brightens when you flick the light switch on.
Spencer, who has been leaning against the wall near you, stumbles into the room right behind you.
The door slams shut behind him, the thud reverberating through the room.
You flinch, spinning around at the jarring sound.
âSorry,â Spencer mumbles, a bit unsteady.
He throws himself onto the armchair with a heavy sigh, his head lolling back as he closes his eyes.
You murmur under your breath, âIâll get you some water,â and head toward the kitchen, your heels clacking against the floor.Â
In the quiet, you take a few deep breaths to steady yourself before filling two glasses of water.Â
When you bring them back, you hand one to Spencer, urging him to drink. He gulps it down immediately, nearly draining the glass in one go.
Youâve never really seen him like this.
Spencer rarelyâalmost neverâdrinks. But tonight, itâs obvious just how far gone he is. Heâs coherent enough to hold himself up, and his words still make sense, but you can tell he isnât fully present.Â
He was already fading hours ago, just an hour into dinner at Rossi's when his team had convinced him to relax and celebrate Garciaâs birthday with a few drinks.
Now, heâs staring off into space, eyes glassy, a faint smile still lingering from whatever joke had last drifted through his mind. You swallow, feeling the anxiety tug at you.
You felt it early on. But you tried to ignore it.
Spencer was different.Â
He was responsible and careful. He liked being sober and in control. He was someone who avoided excess.
He was not a drunk.Â
You knew all this and tried to stay rational.Â
After his third drink, though, all that rationality flew out the window. With the last gulp of his third drink, you decided to excuse yourself, claiming you weren't feeling well, and spent most of the evening outside. The poker game was so intense that no one really questioned you or bothered to check on you.
You had thought, knowing Spencerâs sharp observation skills, that he would come find you shortly and ask what was wrong. He always did. He could always tell when something was off and always wanted to know. But tonight, he didnât.
You waited, each minute stretching longer than the last, hoping heâd realize and come find you, that heâd be his usual self. But as the laughter and clinking glasses carried on from inside, you realized he was somewhere you couldnât reach him tonight.
As you watched him now, slouched in the armchair with you far away from him sitting on the edge of the couch, your heart ached.Â
This wasnât the Spencer you knew. He was lost in his thoughts, barely acknowledging your presence. You handed him your glass of water, and he took it with a mumbled "thanks", sipping it more slowly this time.
âSpencer, are you okay?â you finally asked, unable to keep the concern out of your voice.
He looked up at you, his eyes a bit clearer but still distant. âYeah, just... tired,â he replied, his voice heavy with exhaustion.
You nodded, but the anxiety still sat inside you.
Stop!
Spencer is not him!Â
He is nothing like him!
You keep staring at him, fidgeting with your fingers and the hem of your black velvet dress, feeling helpless as you try to guess what he wants.Â
Is he going to stay here for a while? Does he need more water? Is he going to shower, or maybe just head to bed?
Finally, Spencer glances up, his gaze focusing on you as if for the first time tonight. His brows knit together as he notices the anxious look in your eyes.Â
"Whatâs wrong?" he asks, his voice soft but tinged with confusion.
You swallow, feeling a rush of emotions youâve been holding back all evening. Heâs looking at you now, really looking, like he usually does, but something about his unsteady, drunken state makes you hesitate.Â
Heâs here, yet somehow not fully here, and youâre not sure how to answer.
You force a smile, shrugging as if itâs nothing, but your heart pounds. "Just⌠tired, I guess."
Spencerâs gaze doesnât waver, and you know he sees through your answer, even in his state.Â
Now he sees.Â
Heâs silent, watching you with a slight frown like heâs trying to piece together a puzzle. The quiet stretches between you, heavy and thick.
You glance away, twisting the hem of your dress tighter.Â
"Maybe you should get some rest," you say, your voice barely more than a whisper. You try to keep the tremor out, but itâs there. A lot of it.
Heâs never seen you like thisânot this vulnerable, this close to tears. Youâve not been dating that long. A lot of things are still unknown, unsaid, unshared and the toxic, drunk but highly functioning, unpredictable boyfriends have not yet come out in any conversation.
"Iâll be fine," Spencer mutters, rubbing his face with one hand as he sinks further into the chair.
His words are gentle, but theyâre not the reassurance youâre aching for.Â
You wish heâd tell you heâd never do this again, that he understands why this is hard for you. But he doesnât. He just looks at you, distant and hazy.
A lump forms in your throat as the silence presses down on you. You stand up, needing some distance, and force a tight smile. "Iâll let you get some sleep. Iâll go⌠take a walk or something."
As you turn to leave, Spencer reaches out, his fingers brushing your arm. "Hey," he murmurs, his voice soft but unsteady. "Itâs like 2 AM. Youâre not going anywhere alone."
You stop, frozen, a tightness forming in your chest. You want to say itâs fine, that you just need space, but the words feel like theyâre stuck in your throat. Instead, he continues, unaware of how badly his presence is affecting you right now.
âLetâs take a walk together. Itâll help,â he offers, his voice tinged with concern, though still a little slurred.
You turn sharply, frustration and something darker bubbling up in your chest. âNo!â you snap, louder than you intended, the word echoing in the quiet room. You instantly regret it, but the hurt is too raw, too overwhelming. You try to swallow the sudden surge of emotion, but itâs too much.
You finally realize that his hand in on your arm, and the realization hits like a cold wave. You feel an intense rush of discomfort. You donât want him near you right now.Â
The feeling of his fingers on your skin, even though theyâre meant to comfort, feels wrong.
You canât breathe. You canât handle his touch, not like this, not after everything thatâs happened. You jerk away, backing up, your heart hammering.
Without a word, you turn and storm toward the bathroom. You lock the door behind you and lean against it for a second, trying to steady your breath.Â
The walls feel like theyâre closing in, the anger and fear swirling inside you until you can hardly tell the difference between the two.
Itâs not his fault, you think, taking a deep breath, trying to calm the storm inside your chest.
Heâs just drunk, heâll be sober soon, but... why does it still feel so wrong?
You press your hands to your face, feeling the tears already starting to form.
Iâm not that person anymore. Iâm not going to let this take me back. I canât let it.
Your thoughts race, but you force yourself to focus, turning the shower on. The sound of the water helps.Â
You quickly but clumsily step out of the dress and underwear, leaving them in a heap on the tiles.Â
You step under the hot spray, closing your eyes, letting the warmth soothe the tension in your muscles.
Just wash it off, just wash it off, you tell yourself as if the water could cleanse more than just your skin.
Youâre lost in the sensation of the water for long minutes when thereâs a gentle knock on the bathroom door.Â
You freeze. Your heart skipping a beat.
âHey⌠uh⌠I really need to pee,â Spencer calls out, his voice even softer than before.
You swallow, fighting the panic rising in your throat, and quickly shut off the water. You wrap a towel around your body and open the door just enough for you to slip past him. Without a word, you go into the bedroom and gracelessly put on one of the shirts you left in his drawer.
Tomorrow. Tomorrow everything will be fine, you think, climbing into bed, curling up under the covers.Â
You just want this day to end. You need it to end.
Then it hits youâyouâre in his bed.
You stand up and then sit again on the edge.
You should go home. You should be in your own bed. You want to get up, gather your things, get dressed, and leave, but you're paralyzed. You're overwhelmed. You canât breathe. You canât move.
Then Spencer walks into the room, his gaze landing on you. As if he can read the turmoil in your mind, he says softly, "It's late. Stay here tonight. Take the bed. Iâll take the couch."
You donât say anything, unable to find the words.
He pauses, watching you for a moment, before quietly pulling his pajamas from the closet and heading into the bathroom.
You just need to sleep. Youâll sleep it off, and when you wake up, things will make sense again. Maybe Spencer will apologize.Â
Apologize for what?
He didnât do anything wrong.
Heâll be sober. Everything will go back to normal.
But sleep doesnât come. The bed feels cold, and the silence in the room is suffocating. You canât shake the thoughts in your head.
What if he doesnât remember?
What if he wonât leave it and youâll have to explain and heâll be angry?
Why are you angry?
Why are you upset?
Just as you're about to give up on sleep altogether, you hear the soft creak of the door opening. Spencer slips into the room quietly, his footsteps hesitant. He walks to the bed, sitting down beside you without saying anything at first.
"Are you asleep?" he asks quietly, his voice gentle, almost too careful. You feel his gaze on you, even though youâre facing the window, your back to him.
You donât answer at first. You donât want to talk to him right now. You donât want to explain why everything feels broken. You donât want him to ask.
But you can feel him there, his presence.Â
Finally, he speaks again, his voice low but steady. âPlease... can we talk? I don't wanna go to bed with you upset and angry.â
You donât move, staring into the dark. You wish you could say the right thing. You wish you could fix it, but all you feel is a dull ache in your chest, and the thought that maybe nothing will ever be the same again.
Spencerâs hand reaches out, his fingers trembling slightly as he hesitates for a moment before gently moving toward you. "Hey, Iâ" His voice cracks, and you can hear the sorrow in it, the regret, the helplessness.
But as his arms come closer, something inside you recoils. You canât have him near you right now. Not like this. Not when everything feels so wrong.
You flinch, turning away from him instinctively, the words coming out before you even have a chance to stop them. âPlease donât touch me.â
The words hang between you like a heavyweight.Â
Spencer freezes, his hand hovering in mid-air, and for a second, everything is still. You can hear his breathing â shallow, uneven â as if heâs trying to understand, trying to process what just happened.
You donât want him to feel hurt, but you canât help it. You feel exposed, vulnerable, like a raw nerve, and his touch, even if it's meant to comfort, feels suffocating.
âOkay,â Spencer finally says, his voice small, resigned. He pulls his hand back slowly, as though giving you space to breathe.Â
You donât look at him. You canât.Â
âIâm sorry,â he adds, his voice distant now, like heâs trying to find his footing again. âI just... Iâm not sure what happened. I know hurt you. I donât know how but Iâm sorry.â
The silence lingers, thick and uncomfortable, wrapping itself around both of you. Spencer hesitates for a long moment, unsure of what to do or say next. You can feel his eyes on you, but you donât lift yours.Â
Finally, he clears his throat softly.
âIâll... Iâll sleep on the couch tonight,â he says, his voice gentle and careful like heâs trying not to disturb the fragile air between you.
âItâs okay. If you want to talk... or anything... just come and tell me. Iâll be here.â
You donât say anything. You still donât look at him. But you can hear the sincerity in his voice, the aching honesty of it.
If only his words, his willingness to be there even when youâve pushed him away could make things better.
But you donât answer him, because you donât have the strength to. You donât know what to say.
Spencer sighs quietly, almost like a final surrender, and then you hear his footsteps moving away from you.
The door opens and closes softly behind him, and youâre left alone in the silence of the room once more.
Spencerâs words echo in your mind, but they donât bring comfort. Not yet.Â

maneater
summary: Harry feels inspired by the woman who is holding his heart in her hands. Harryâs true feelings come out during a recording session, and his heart is on the line.
warning: angst & fluff
wc: 2.4k
I havenât written in so long, and I was feeling inspired. Please let me know how you like it. I own no rights to this song (just in case lol). I hope you enjoy!!
Harry looked at his Rolex for the fifth time in an hour. He checked the time, awaiting the arrival of hisâŚwell, he was not sure what to call her. His girl? Well, no, thatâs not the correct title. His lover? Thatâs not even close to what he was to her. Harry didnât know the correct title to give her, but he did know that she wasnât his, yet he was all hers. Luna Gray was her name, it was her stage name. Her birthname was for him only; regardless, her name was on the tip of everyoneâs tongue.
Harry and Luna were signed to Columbia Records, and both were some of the biggest stars in the world. Harry met Luna when she signed to the label in 1981, and the first time they met, Harry was electrified to his core. All she had to do was look at him, and Harry mentally fell to his knees. To Harry, she was perfection; the only problem was that he wasnât the only person who thought this. Letâs just say that Luna was loved by many, and for Harry, it started out not being a problem but slowly developed into one a year later. Luna would explain to all the men she got involved with that she is not someone who could be tied down. She had one goal, which was to be a star. No one or nothing could get in the way of that dream. Harry understood this the first time they slept together, yet as their sexual relationship began to grow, it was somewhat difficult for Harry to hear about the endless men she was caught up with.Â
Harry could admit he fell in love with her, yet Luna had no idea about Harryâs feelings towards her. Luna continued with her life as normal, while Harry continued to suffer in silence. He knew how Luna was and that her motto was to cut off men once they fell in love. She told the world she enjoyed her life as a single lady in Hollywood. So, as Harry spent the time drowning in his feelings, he caught inspiration to write a song when a picture in the tabloids was released of her with a star athlete. He couldnât control his jealousy, which was feasting inside him. He was angry, saddened, and felt like an idiot for being in love with someone who told him she wasnât going to be tied down. Harry continued to pour his emotions on paper, letting go of everything he felt. What he forgot about, though, is that Luna was coming to listen in on his studio session, and this was the only song he was going to record today. This is Luna and Harryâs thing. They were both artists, so it wasnât out of the norm for them to listen in on their studio sessions and provide notes.Â
Harry genuinely didnât want to record this infront of her, but he couldnât waste paid studio time either. Instead of consistently checking the time, he decided to leave the studio for a smoke break. With each inhale, he felt the stress leave his body until he watched her sleek red Mercedes Convertible pull into the parking lot. Her curly hair was all over the place as she pulled in; her eyes were on Harryâs immediately as she parked. She stepped out of the car with a smile, hoping Harry would forgive her for running a little late. Harry watched as the Los Angeles sunset dipping below the valley illuminated her skin. Harry kept his eyes on her, continuing to smoke and soak in the sound of her heels hitting the pavement. She looked beautiful as she approached Harry; without a word, she grabbed the cigarette from his hands, taking a hit of it.
âYou mad at me?â Luna said, exhaling the smoke as it brushed across Harryâs face.Â
He shook his head ânoâ because he truly wasnât mad. Even if he were, she would never know it. âYou were supposed to be here an hour ago.â He said, eying her up and down. Lust and anxiety coursing through his veins.
âI got caught up in something. Forgive me, sweetheart,â she said with puppy eyes. Her eyes still held this twinkle in them as if she was playing a game with him.
âSomething or someone,â Harry said, letting the jealousy slip. He hated when his mouth would speak before his brain could. Luna smiled at his words, throwing the finished cigarette on the ground and crushing it under her heel.
âAre you sure you want to know?â she smirked, moving past him to enter the studio. Harry felt a slight pang in his chest as he followed her inside. As Luna entered, she sat on the couch and said hello to the sound engineer. Harry nervously picked up the paper and headed to the booth. Just before he got in, Luna called out to him.
âIâm excited to hear the song, Harry.â Her eyes were glowing, and Harry could tell that she was being genuine. Harry and Luna shared a deep connection when it came to music. They both had the utmost respect for each other as artists. Harry smiled at her, briefly looking at her before entering the booth. Harry put on his headphones and signaled that he was ready. Once the beat of the song kicked in, Harry watched as Luna bobbed her head to the music and waited for Harry to start singing. Harry felt his throat swell up in trepidation. Instead of focusing on Luna, he closes his eyes and sings from his heart.Â
Oh-oh, here she comes
Watch out, boy, she'll chew you up
Oh-oh, here she comes
She's a man-eater
Harry finally opened his eyes when he got to the middle of the song. He looked through the glass as he watched Luna on the couch with an unreadable expression. Her legs were crossed as he watched her hanging leg bounce. As the song faded out, they kept eye contact with each other. The song engineer cleared Harry to remove his headphones, and He watched as Luna stood on her feet, waiting for him to come out. Harry apprehensively stepped out of the booth, feeling the immediate tension filling the room. Harry could see her facial expression had morphed into clear anger, so he decided to have the room for himself for a while. When they were both alone, Harry chose to speak up.Â
âHow did you like the song,â
âHow did I like it?â She asked, irritation coursing through her body. âLet me think of how I feel,â she laughed mockingly.Â
âListen, I know how it sounds, but hear what I have to say first.â
âWhy should I listen to you right now? You brought me here to shame me. All because your feelings are a little hurt, suddenly I should come with a warning label. Well, newsflash, Harry, I told you everything upfront from the beginning.âÂ
âI know that, but trust me when I say none of what you said matters now. Not when I feel like this, not when you know I feel like this about you.â
âDonât do that. Youâve never told me anything, Harry you-â
âCut the shit, just because I havenât verbally mentioned it, I know you know. You know it in the way I kiss you, in the way I touch you, and when I make love to you. Thatâs on me that I never said anything, and I hate that it had to come out in this way, but donât act oblivious. I never told you because I know youâll run away like you have with others.â
âThen why are you telling me now?â
âBecause if thatâs the risk I must take, then so be it. I canât live with this inside me anymore. If you decide to run off, thatâs on you. Yes, I will admit my feelings were upset seeing you with someone else. I wrote a song about it. Thatâs what I do. When I canât speak my feelings, I sing them. This is the only song I was going to record today. I promise it wasnât to hurt you in any way.â
âYeah, it doesnât hurt getting called a maneater.â She rolled her eyes and folded her arms around each other as she turned her back to Harry.
Harry watched her and decided to step closer to her, âI apologize if I hurt you; thatâs never what I want. You have to believe me on that. Iâm saying it now: I want you to be mine, and I want to be yours,â Harry pleaded with her. Luna soaked in his words, hearing the sincerity in his voice. She couldnât face him. Yes, Luna believed him and knew that Harry wasnât lying at all when he said she secretly knew. She did. She enjoyed feeling like Harry would always be there. It was this feeling of security she didnât have with any of the other men she would casually date. This sense of security was something that she was scared to have pulled away. She didnât want to commit out of fear of relationships, yet she knew she didnât want Harry to be gone forever. Even though she knew Harry loved her, she thought she had a longer time to decide whether to commit. It felt like she was now faced with an ultimatum. Instead of answering him, she deflected. âHarry, youâve seen girls to-.â She was once again cut off with Harryâs words.
âNo, donât do that. You know, every single girl is PR. I stopped doing that altogether once I felt more serious about you. Donât divert this back to me. Do you want me at all? Or is this where this ends.â Harry said with a deep breath, finally asking the question. He would be lying if he didnât feel like 100 pounds were sitting on his heart, waiting to be lifted off. All it would take for this anxiety to lift is her uttering the word, âYes, Harry, I want you.â Yet, what he heard come out of her mouth next left him shocked where he stood. Luna turned to face him with a stone-cold expression, âI canât do this, Harry.â Luna walked past him to exit the studio, brushing his shoulder as she passed. As her hand touched the cold door handle to leave, Harry muttered what he thought would be his last word to her.Â
âThis is what you do, Luna. You run away, and I donât know why I thought it would be any different for me.â Harry said, feeling himself getting more emotional that he wanted to be infront of her. Without another word, Luna slammed the door behind her.
As she walked down the long hallway, her heart and mind raced. âWhat did I do?â She thought to herself. She knows she has a connection with Harry. Without a doubt, she knows that. Yet, she was still scared to commit. Past relationships had driven her to live this bachelorette lifestyle. Luna stopped in her tracks, leaning against a wall. âFuck,â she muttered to herself. Luna had a real decision to make right now. She could either run off to her car and avoid Harry forever. Or go back into that studio to be with the only man who has ever treated her right. Luna finally knew she could listen to her heart, saying just to trust. She had spent years listening to her brain and severed many lovers because of her mind. Her heart was saying to her donât let this one go, Luna turned on her heels and headed back in the same direction she left. Harry was sitting on the couch with his head in his hands, soaking in everything that had just happened. He heard the door open and, without looking, thought it was the sound engineer returning.
âHey man, I need a few more minutes.â
âI love you, Harry Styles. Iâm sorry it took this long for me to admit it.â Harryâs head shot up in shock, looking at the door. He watched Luna close the door behind her as he rose.
âSay it again,â he said breathlessly as she approached him. As she reached him, her hands went on opposite sides of his face, and she looked him in the eyes.Â
âI love you, and I want you. I want this. There are no promises for how fast we will go, though. I havenât been in a relationship in a long time.â
âI donât care if we take one inch a day. Thatâs all I needed you to say.â Harry towered over her, pressing his lips on her. Luna leaned in the kiss, soaking up all of Harryâs love. Her heart felt something it hadn't in a while, true peace. It felt as if all the walls she had spent so hard creating came crumbling down all at once. Harry picked her up, sitting on the couch with her in his arms. Harry deepened the kiss, tangling his hands in her hair. Luna relaxed in his lap as her body felt like it was on fire. Harry broke the kiss as they both panted against each other's lips. Both of their mouths curved up into a smile.
âSloane, I love you. I think I always have. Itâs impossible not to be. I promise I want this.â Lunaâs cheeks beamed at her real name slipping from his lips. She couldnât begin to explain this feeling in her body.Â
âIâm excited about this, Harry. And youâre doing a real civil duty keeping me from eating more men.â She said, teasing him about the song.
âBaby, If the song upset you, Iâll scrap it.â Her index finger lightly brushed over his lips to shush him.Â
âTo say it upset me is an understatement. I would be a complete fool if I watched you let go of that song. Itâs a great song and can be our little secret that itâs about me.â
âDeal, baby.â Harry smiled at her, happy that she was okay with him putting the song out.
âNow you have to make it up to me, though,â she said seductively. Thatâs all it took for Harry to feel that similar yearning.Â
âIâm going to spend all night making it up to you, I promise.â Luna kissed Harry again, and she let Harry express his love for her. Both of them decided to use the studio for the night so that Harryâs promise could be kept. Luna and Harry couldnât be more in love than they already felt. It made the wait that Harry had to endure all worth it.Â

5 Times You Made Coffee and 1 Time You Didn't

Tara knew she should have been more careful, she knew she should have been cautions of every stranger. First Amber and Richie, then Quinn and Ethan, and she shivered at the very thought if how many times Sidney got betrayed and targeted.
But you were so cute. With that smile, standing out from all the polite smiles of the other barista. And you made perfect coffee, so perfect she now made it her mission to bring as many people, which admittedly and given her social circle wasn't all that many, to your coffee shop when it was your shift.
This time she was here with Mindy, after a long day of classes. "Good afternoon," you smiled at Mindy and then turned toward Tara. "Tara," your already warm smile widened and she almost thought she didn't even need coffee after the burst of energy she got just from seeing you.
"Hey, Y/N," she smiled back at you, hoping her crush wasn't that obvious.
âThe usual?â you asked her and she nodded, youâve been making a cappuccino for her for weeks now and it didnât take you long to figure out that was her coffee of choice. âAnd for you?â you turned to Mindy.
âCould I get an espresso?â Mindy asked and you nodded.
âRight away,â you backed away and Tara looked down, blushing at Mindyâs questioning look.
âSpill it, T,â Mindy demanded and pointed at you in the most obvious way. âYou have a crush on them and itâs visible from a plane.â
She didnât have to put it like that. âI just think they are cute,â she didnât deny her crush. âI just have a good feeling about them, you know?â and she knew a good feeling wasnât enough anymore, but she had to believe it would be enough this time.
Mindy opened her mouth but then changed her mind and instead just hummed. âLetâs judge their coffee making skills first, youâll be needing someone who can get your coffee just right,â Mindy grinned and Tara was happy Mindy was the first to find out about you. She knew Chad had a bit of a crush on her, and Sam was⌠well, Sam, she was protective.
âItâs better than just right,â she assured her of your skills, that was the one thing she couldnât deny no matter what. You got it just right when she first tried it, and she just asked for a pinch of cocoa powder the second time and since then the cappuccino you made her was flawless.
Before her and Mindy could even start talking you came with their coffees and Tara reached for her wallet. âItâs taken care of,â you winked at her and walked over to the other table before she could say anything. Tara watched you, speechless, as she always was when you just told her the coffee was on the house.
Somehow, she was sure it had nothing to do with your parents owning the place. You would have treated her even if you just worked there.
âYou werenât kidding, they know how to make coffee,â Mindy commented as she took a sip of her espresso.
âMhm,â she agreed absentmindedly, still paying attention to you.
âClasses werenât really all that bad today,â Mindy commented, prompting yet another âmhmâ from Tara. You were preparing a coffee with utmost care, and there was definitely a reason why Tara kept sitting at this exact spot. It was easy to sneak glances your way from her seat.
âThe Babadook sucks,â Mindy said and she once more agreed before Mindy snapped her fingers right in front of Taraâs face.
âEarth to Lover Girl, can you at least pretend weâre not here so you can make googly eyes at your crush?â Mindy was stuck between being amused and annoyed.
âFine, fine, what did you just say?â she asked but Mindy just stuck her tongue out and Tara rolled her eyes. From the corner of her eyes she caught you smiling at her as you dried a glass you just washed.
About an hour later Tara approached you with the coffee cups. âThank you, they were amazing, as always,â she told you as you reached over the counter to take them.
âCould I interest you in trying some other coffees? Only drinking cappuccino will make it taste bland over time,â you suggested and gestured at the chair near the bar. âMight be a good way to get to know each other, assuming Iâm not misinterpreting things, of course,â you looked confident, but there was a small hint of shyness in your gaze. As if youâve been trying to ask her this for some time now.
âSure, Iâll leave my coffee order in your hands,â she accepted a bit too eagerly and you grinned together.
~X~
The next time she came to the coffee shop she sat down close to you, alone and eager to see what you had in mind for the first coffee testing, as Tara dubbed it.
âIâm all yours, barista,â she winked at you, not entirely catching on to what she just said.
You took it like a champ though, not even flinching at the potential double meaning as you prepared her coffee and Tara would love to say she could follow what you were doing but there was a reason she was desperately reliant on a coffee machine or shops like this one. Eventually you placed a small glass in front of her.
âRistretto, comes from Italy, basically a stronger espresso. Same amount of coffee, in half the water,â it was early in the morning and she did have a long day ahead of her.
She nodded and brought the glass closer to her.
âSo, how come you are a barista? I mean, besides your parents owning the place?â Tara asked, not yet ready to drink the coffee and be on her way.
You leaned over the counter. âCoffee is a bit of a passion for me, I love making it, and trying different variations,â you replied and she could see the honesty in your eyes.
Being passionate about coffee wasnât what she expected but somehow, given how good you were at making it, she immediately believed it.
âIâm happy you can pursue your passion,â when was the last time she could pursue her own passions without looking behind her shoulder?
âIt helps that I get to meet beautiful girls, like your friend last week,â you smirked, teasing her slightly.
She tried the coffee, and it was definitely strong, but there was some sweetness to it. âAnd what am I?â she chose to be bold, leaning slightly closer to you as she asked that.
You moved your hand until it was right next to her and offered it to her, and she accepted, putting her hand on top of your own. âYou, Tara, are more than just beautiful.â
âReal smooth, Y/N,â she snickered but she would be lying if she said the compliment didnât feel nice.
~X~
âSomething lighter this time,â the moment Tara stepped into the coffee shop you placed a coffee cup at her newfound place at the bar.
âAm I that predictable?â Tara asked, actually slightly concerned about it. If you could time making the coffee for her after only knowing her for a short period of time. Could someone intending to hurt her learn her patterns this easily?
âEvery single morning at 9:27 you walk through those doors,â you shrugged and she figured she unconsciously did start doing that.
She still rolled her eyes and sat down at her seat. She looked at her coffee.
âCafĂŠ au lait, French this time. Coffee with warm milk,â you explained, correcting her assumption that it was just regular white coffee.
âYouâre the expert,â she smiled and tried the coffee, and the only thing that crossed her mind was that she should have gotten you to experiment with her coffee taste sooner. âI swear I only tolerated coffee, but youâll make me love it,â she sighed, almost dreamily at the light taste.
âThatâs the idea,â you grinned but unlike last time when you could stay and chat with her, this time the coffee shop was busy, and you had to do your job. You still had the time to ask her about how her day went yesterday and how she did on the exam she had.
And it made her feel like her heart would lean out of her chest.
~X~
It took some time before you offered her a new coffee. You liked surprising her with new coffees randomly and over that period of time you met both Chad and Sam, both meetings went surprisingly well.
Tara had a gut feeling she would be trying a new coffee today as she walked into the coffee shop and saw you heating up water in some thin and tall pot. âHey, Tara,â you said without turning to look at her and she leaned over the bar to watch you work. âCome over to this side,â you invited her and she happily rushed to your side. She just now realized this was the closest the two of you were, even closer than when you would bring her coffee to the table. So, instead of turning into a tomato, she focused on what you were doing. You added ground coffee to the boiling water and soon enough it began frothing.
âWatch out!â she exclaimed out of habit, but you just grinned and lifted it up, before lowering it back onto the stove and Tara watched as the coffee began frothing again.
âTrust the process,â you told her and lifted it again just as it reached the top of the pot and then did it again one last time before pouring it into two porcelain coffee cups. âTry it without sugar at first, then add it if you need to,â you said and placed cups in front of the chair next to your own. You patted the spot next to you and Tara hopped onto the chair, happy to be sharing coffee with you for the very first time.
âWhich one is this?â she asked, the strong scent immediately woke her up, and while it was bitter it had a taste just as strong as the scent. It was bitter enough that she needed to add a bit of sugar to it.
âTurkish, you saw the process, and that,â you pointed at the thin and tall pot. âIs most often called a cezve,â you explained and took a sip of the coffee, clearly enjoying yourself.
Tara smiled, leaning a bit closer to you, enjoying the warmth of the coffee and your presence.
~X~
âCaffè mocha!â she knew this one, she never really went out of her way to try it, but she knew it, and she was proud to show you she could name what you just made for her.
âMhm,â you were drinking with her behind the counter again, as it was a habit you seemed to develop ever since you made that Turkish coffee for her. âFigured you deserved something sweet for getting an A on that exam,â you nudged her lightly and she grinned, all happy and proud.
âYou know it,â she looked at you and felt ready to finally take that next step. In fact, sheâs been trying to get herself hyped up to say it since your meeting with Sam went well. âSay, Y/N,â she began and cleared her throat.
âYeah?â your full attention was on her, made possible by lack of customers at the moment and Tara thanked whatever higher being arranged for that to happen.
âI want to make coffee for you,â she said and you raised an eyebrow, clearly surprised by her offer. âCome and hang out at my place? I mean, Sam will be there because she is really protective, but uh, yeah, come to my place,â she stopped herself before she could start rambling.
âIâd love that,â you said and that was when her luck ran out, as a customer came into the coffee shop and you had to go and get his order. âIâd absolutely love that,â you leaned over and kissed her on the cheek and Tara pumped her fist and cheered quietly, much to your amusement.
~X~
You couldn't remember the last time you were this nervous; after all a beautiful girl just invited you to her apartment. Granted with her older sister present as well, but she did invite you. You looked up at the building in front of you, it was almost daunting with how many floor it had and as far as you knew there were no elevators and Tara lived on the top floor. You still had no idea why, or why Sam was as protective of Tara as she was.
You understood older sibling protectiveness, but Sam took it to the next level.
âI can do this,â you hyped yourself up and typed in the code Tara gave you. The heavy metal doors opened, and you stepped in, beginning the long journey up the stairs. Well, at least this was a good test to see if you were still in shape. And it turned out you were still in good shape! Which was great because otherwise you would have had a lot of troubles keeping your heart rate normal. Your heart was already beating faster than it should just because you were about to meet up with Tara but that was beside the point, at least you didnât have to worry about whether you were or werenât in shape. You reached the door of her apartment and took another deep breath. âI can do this,â you whispered to yourself, and you checked the flower bouquet and the box of chocolates you brought. Frankly speaking, you may have dressed to impress a bit too much, but knowing Tara she would find it endearing.
At least you hoped she would.
You were just about to knock when the door suddenly opened and you were met with the girl you had a crush on for the past several weeks. Could the ground beneath your feet just open and swallow you whole? This was too embarrassing! âOh, hi!â you stammered embarrassed as she caught you in front of her own doors like a dumbass who couldn't even get the courage to knock on the doors of the girl that invited them in herself.
âHi,â she blushed and looked down and you found yourself thinking she looked so adorable like this. And then you both just laughed because you were both ridiculously shy about this. All that confidence you had back at the coffee shop was seemingly gone, as it was blown away by the wind blowing around the building. âOh, shit, sorry, come on in!â Tara seemed to realize she was blocking your entrance and stepped aside letting you come in and join her inside.
âRight, thank you for having me,â you cleared your throat and gave her the flowers and the box of chocolates. âUh, this is for you. I didn't know what you liked so I just went with the cliche option,â you nervously rubbed the back of your neck as heat rushed to your cheeks. Tara smiled and took it from you, and her fingers brushed against your own.
âThanks, I love it,â and so you went inside followed her to the living room where Sam was already waiting.
âHello, Sam,â you nodded, greeting her and she nodded back.
âCome on sit down, I won't bite,â Sam smiled kindly at you and gestured towards the sofa âTara's been really nervous about impressing you, just so you know,â her words cause Tara to adorably blush once more.
âSam please,â the younger Carpenter sister groaned and seemed to make herself even smaller than she was and then she just pointed toward what you assumed was the kitchen. âIâm just going to go and make coffee.â
Unlike you, she had a way to flee.
But that meant you would be alone with Sam.
âWait! Do you need help? You know, since I am a professional and all that,â you were grasping at straws, pleading for mercy, because anything would be better than being along with Sam. Even all these weeks after you met her she still made you nervous. Tara seemed to relax at seeing you were just as nervous as she was, if not more and she laughed patting you on the back.
âI think I can handle myself,â well, as long as she felt better you figured you could take some teasing. Resigning to your fate you just sighed and sat down as Tara left you and Sam alone.
âSo, what are your intentions with my sister?â Sam asked without a hint of joking, she was completely serious, and you choked on air, only to then hear her chuckling. âRelax I'm just messing with you. Let's just wait for Tara to come back with coffee.â
Well, that was a relief. So, you sat there in silence, and you had a feeling this was only awkward for you, from the looks of it for Sam it was more amusing slash comfortable. Finally, after way too much time, Tara came back with three coffee mugs and she sat down next to you. You recognized the smell the moment she stepped into the living room and you couldnât describe how happy you were.
âI've been practicing,â she confessed and it showed because the coffee smelled wonderful.
âCortado,â you would recognize the scent anywhere and she, from the looks of it, did it perfectly.
Tara smacked her forehead in frustration âDamn, I was sure you wouldn't guess it. Guess thatâs a pro for you,â she, clearly still annoyed, handed a twenty dollar bill to a rather satisfied Sam.
âIt's one of my favorites actually,â you confessed and her eyes widened at that.
âSo how come you never made it for me?â she sounded offended as if something special between you just became a tiny bit less special.
âIt's not on the menu, and well I like to keep this one for special people. And in private, can't have customers smelling this and asking about it,â you shrugged and took the sip of the coffee. You were right, it really was perfect, even more so since Tara was the one who made it for you.
âFine, you goofball, but you're making it for me next time. At your own apartment,â you could work with that even if Sam nearly choked when Tara said that.
