What is Freedom?
What most working class Americans possess is nothing like true freedom. They are kept just comfortable enough so that they will continue to serve as cogs in the machinery—but their productivity has been harnessed in the same way as has the productivity of those lower down in the pecking order who work 40 or more hours per week and yet still must apply for public assistance. Using data by the U.S. BLS, the average productivity per American worker has increased approximately 400% since 1950. The productivity of the labor force has increased dramatically, but wages have been uncoupled from that productivity—starting at around the Nixon era. From top to bottom—from the highest paid to the lowest paid wage earners (those who actually work)—we receive a meager fraction of the true fruits of our labor. Our wages, adjusted for inflation, are nothing like 400% higher than wages were in 1950. The number of hours we work per week also is not 400% lower. The American dream is predicated on the bedrock principle that hard work pays off. We have been taught to believe that a) the harder a person works, b) the more skill and talent a person possesses, and c) the more ability a person has to work well with others; the more success each such person ought to be able to enjoy. That’s what the concept of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness means to most Americans. Most people who “want to make American great again” probably would accept that definition.
The fat cats who own banks, corporations, governments, and so forth, have figured out how to keep us working their fields (so to speak) in an increasingly profitable manner from 1950 until now. They have figured out how to make our slice of the pie narrower and narrower, although we are the ones producing the pie and helping it to increase in size relative to the overall U.S. population. Even those of us who have figured out how to start our own businesses end up paying most of our profits to the fat cats at the top because smaller businesses must compete on price with publicly traded businesses who are unfairly favored by all three branches of the government. Therefore, small businesses are not able to afford to pay employees substantially more than big corporations pay employees because of the economy of scale created by the unlevel playing field that was becoming the new status quo as Nixon and his Supreme Court appointees began to work things out. They managed to fix things so that “our wealth circuit got plugged into our political circuit.” Government officials who work for the fat cats (pretty much all of them regardless of their political stripes) have continued to rig the game against the little guy. Because of high interest rates, low corporate tax rates, and exorbitant pay for top-level managers, we all end up working for the same few fat cats who exist at the very top of the pyramid.
To keep this system working and to keep us from revolting, all the fat cats need to do is make sure that, in the words of George Orwell, “some animals are more equal than others.” Even though we all get milked, shorn, and butchered, those of us who live in nicer houses in nicer neighborhoods are content to allow those at lower socioeconomic levels to suffer unfairly because their pain doesn’t touch us directly. We watch police brutality on the news but it doesn’t move us. We see public schools that are grossly underfunded and it doesn’t affect us. We have been taught to think of each other as different—depending on race, religion, and so forth. The fat cats have artificially divided us so that we will not work together to fight the oppression that touches all of us—as long as it doesn’t touch us equally: “Well, at least I’m better off than that guy over there.”
When we vote to preserve the status quo (voting for Joe Biden is a good example, but voting for Donald Trump, in a sneakier way, also is), we vote to keep ourselves at our current levels of freedom, which, as I’ve already explained, is not true freedom—because the quality and quantity of our labor has been uncoupled from our wages. The fat cats have figured out how to steal our productivity in the same way that Kings in wealthy kingdoms have stolen from the peasants who work “their” land. We still haven’t awoken to the fact that we all are yoked—that none of us are truly free.
The primary hindrance for all of us is a fear-based belief in scarcity. That’s why austerity is so devastating. “How you gonna pay for that?” We have failed to adjust our expectations higher as productivity has improved. This belief plays right into the hands of the fat cats. In this vastly wealthy country, there is enough for everyone to live well without exhausting the resources of the planet and without bullying other countries. We do not have to live in the world of Charles Dickens. But the fat cats have figured out how to keep the mid-level frogs on simmer so that they won’t align themselves with the increasingly desperate frogs who are being cooked at higher temperatures.
The way out of this dilemma is probably not going to be as simple as “Vote Blue No Matter Who.” As George Carlin points out: “Forget the politicians. They are irrelevant. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don't. You have no choice! You have OWNERS! They OWN YOU.” The only hope to fix this mess and get our productivity hooked back up to our wages is to reduce the influence of the fat cats who together control the planetary economic system. UNPOPULAR OPINION (at least to the fat cats): WHEREAS, money is the predominant way to control this planet; and WHEREAS, the fat cats possess most of the money; THEREFORE, we need to remove most of their money from them. Until we do, they will retain their influence and easily rig the next system—whether capitalism or communism. The real problem is how money flows and who controls that flow.
The people who are talented and industrious still deserve to be compensated in proportion to their talent and industry—particularly if their high ethical standards match their talent and industry. In a just system, those who would inevitably succeed at the highest levels should be able to live very well, as long as their high standard of living would not require others to live in squalor. Collectively, humanity would need to agree not to exploit and prey on each other and not to exploit the planet. We would need to agree that hard work and talent should pay off but that, at certain income levels, most of the surplus wealth of individuals and of corporations should be used to fund infrastructure and other items that can be clearly justified as beneficial for the common good. Banks and corporations should be limited in size and scope and occupations and industries that exist primarily to skim wealth from regular people should be abolished. The fat cats cannot hope to spend even a fraction of their wealth in ways that benefit them personally so we all should admit that, most of all, their wealth has been used to control the rest of us—their wars, their diseases, their “cures,” and their need for there to be so many of us all crowded together in utter dependence on them and on their systems.
Will the fat cats agree to all of this? Will their puppet politicians write and enforce the laws that would strip their masters of power? In short, can there be a solution that happens at the ballot box—or will the voter revolution that some envision end up with torches and pitchforks (or assault rifles and missiles) after all? If George Carlin was right, we must resign ourselves to our fate: “It’s never going to get any better, don’t look for it, be happy with what you’ve got.” He was referring to our educational system that now indoctrinates us in ways that make it easy for our masters to keep controlling us. If he was right, we need to educate ourselves in some other, better way so that we can stand up in unity with our fellow wage-earners and come to some agreements that will not allow for future predation. If Carlin is right, the fat cats will never agree with us. As Frederick Douglass stated: “Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will.” For the demand to be made in a way that foregoes bloodshed, everyone who works for a living will need to understand that we’re all in this together. We will need to come to an understanding that is based on the underlying principles of mutual abundance and justice. We will need to overcome our predatory instincts and allow our best motives to come to the front.
Carlin was right about our education system. Not only is education terrible at educating everyone from all walks of life, it is intentionally so. Those on the higher rungs of life have long been taught how to exploit others rather than being taught how to create a rising tide that could lift all ships. Our fat cat masters know where the weak place is in their vicious circle. If people could be truly educated instead of being indoctrinated, everything would change. If viable solutions are available and humanity continues down its predatory and mutually exploitative path, it is because we will be unable to discover the truths that are hidden in plain sight.

A Career in Big Data
Tumblr media
Every day, over 2.5 quintillion bytes of data are generated, and someone must gather, store, protect, and analyze it all. Big data is a term that has recently been thrown around a lot, but it has also turned into big business. Big Data Analytics is at the cutting edge of technology which has grown critical because it helps businesses improve their operations, make better decisions, and gain a competitive advantage. This is true for both firms and people working in the analytics field. There are a plethora of options available to professionals who have completed a Big Data Course.
As technology advances, this tendency is anticipated to accelerate even more during the next five years, resulting in a severe shortage of competent candidates. It’s now or never to break into this multibillion-dollar sector and land the job of your dreams.
The employment market for big data is wide open as a result of this rapid expansion. If you’re still not persuaded that Big Data Analytics is one of the most in-demand talents, let’s see the big picture:
ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES
Big data expertise is needed in practically every business. IT, banking, law enforcement, government, manufacturing, farming, retail, science, medical, and technical services are all possibilities. Depending on the business you select, you will be executing a wide range of tasks as a big data employee. If you work in law enforcement, for example, you may be building code to search through hundreds of criminal records or devise a better way to store fingerprints. If you choose a career in finance, you may be in charge of millions of bank accounts and statistical analysis. The possibilities are limitless. There is something to meet your abilities and career preferences, whether your interests are in security and software development or data management and storage.
SKILLS THAT ARE USEFUL IN BIG DATA WORLD
The majority of big data jobs need strong programming experience. C, Python, Java, and SQL are all languages you’ll need to be familiar with, if not proficient in. Other specialized talents, like analytics or statistics, may be required, although coding is not one of them.
Certifications in Hadoop, Apache Spark, and machine learning may also be necessary. You’ll require solid math abilities and familiarity with statistics and linear algebra, as well as some security and cryptography understanding.
TOP PRIORITY OF A LOT OF ORGANISATION
Organizations feel that Big Data Analytics is one of their top objectives since it helps them enhance their performance. Big data enables businesses to identify trends and patterns that may be used in the future. It may be used to discover which people are most likely to buy things, as well as to improve marketing campaigns by determining which ad methods have the best return on investment. It’s clear that companies that ‘know’ more than their competitors will outperform their counterparts over time.
With Big Data Analytics giving a competitive advantage, the use of essential Analytics technologies has expanded at an exponential rate.
WHAT A BIG DATA CAREER CAN OFFER YOU?
Big data jobs may be quite profitable depending on the role, as well as your skill and education level. Most people earn between $50,000 and $165,000 per year. Big data is not just a fascinating job that exposes you to cutting-edge technology, but it also pays well for you and your family. Pursuing a graduate education or a masters in data science or other such subjects of study is one of the best ways to gain this competence and demonstrate it to potential employers. Engineers, managers, and developers are the top-tier occupations in big data. Analysts, scientists, statisticians, and specialists are among the other high-paying big data occupations in demand. Engineers design the data storage and management architecture. Developers create software that collects, organizes, and monitors data.
HIGHEST PAID PROFESSIONS IN BIG DATA & DATA ANALYTICS
Big Data Engineer – Annual Salary Range: $130,000-$222,000
Data Architect- Annual Salary Range: $119,750-$193,500
Data Warehouse Manager- Annual Salary Range: $80,000-$160,250
Database Manager- Annual Salary Range: $111,250-$186,500
Business Intelligence Analyst- Annual Salary Range: $87,500-$185,500
Data Scientist- Annual Salary Range: $105,750-$180,250
Data Modeler Annual Salary Range: $80,750-$170,000
Database Developer- Annual Salary Range: $101,250-$172,750
Database Administrator- Annual Salary Range: $79,250-$160,500
Data Analyst- Annual Salary Range: $83,750-$142,500
Because the skills necessary for big data jobs are so complex, additional training and hands-on learning experience are typically required. The professional degrees in data science and big data offered by Britts Imperial University College are designed to give students a strong analytical and technical skillset as well as the opportunity to network with industry professionals and peers. These abilities are helpful and extremely practical on a day-to-day basis, even if you don’t want to pursue a career in Big Data. Data-driven judgments will always surpass intuition-based ones in the end but no amount of analytics, no matter how powerful, can replace the need for human understanding.

AI Weekly: Facial recognition, deepfakes, privacy, and jobs automation defined 2019
As the year draws to a close, it’s instructive to look back at the months preceding to see what the future has in store. History is cyclical in nature, and this is true of the field of AI. Consider that backpropagation, an algorithm widely used in the training of machine learning systems, appeared as a theory as early as 1980, but it wasn’t until the 2010s that it returned thanks in part to cheap, powerful graphics card-based machines.
This year, four key issues in AI and machine learning rose to the fore: facial recognition; deepfakes and self-censorship in academia; privacy; and automation. In anticipation of 2020, here’s a look back at some of the issues that defined the industry in 2019.
Facial recognition
Facial recognition found itself in the news this year perhaps more than any other application of AI.
In early January, a team of MIT scientists alleged that Amazon Web Services’ facial recognition and analysis platform — Rekognition — distinguished gender among certain ethnicities less accurately than did competing solutions. Specifically, it failed to determine the sex of female and darker-skinned faces in select scenarios, mistakenly identifying pictures of women as men and darker-skinned women as men 19% and 31% of the time, respectively.
Amazon’s disputations aside, the study presciently spotlighted the types of biases to which AI can easily become susceptible. Research published by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) just last week found that, when conducting a particular type of database search, a number of facial recognition algorithms falsely identified black and Asian faces 10-to-100 times more often than Caucasian faces.
Beyond the bias problem, facial recognition technology’s scalability makes it ripe for abuse. This year, the NYPD ran a picture of actor Woody Harrelson through a facial recognition system because officers thought the suspect seen in drug store camera footage resembled the actor. We learned how China employs facial recognition to track the movements of its Uighur Muslim population. And AnyVision, a startup based outside of Tel Aviv, has come under scrutiny following reports that its products are used to watch Palestinians living in the West Bank.
A growing number of activists, academics, and lawmakers have called for restrictions or outright bans on facial recognition technology. This fall, California imposed a three-year moratorium on facial recognition use in law enforcement body cameras, and in May, San Francisco banned facial recognition use by police or city departments. Oakland followed suit in June, after which Berkeley passed a ban of its own. And in two House Oversight and Reform committee hearings last summer, some of the most prominent Republicans and Democrats in the U.S. Congress joined together in proposals for legislative reform, following the introduction of the Commercial Facial Recognition Privacy Act of 2019, which would require businesses to receive consent before using facial recognition software.
Given the fierceness of the debate in Congress, academia, statehouses, and public forums like Capitol Hill, it’s fair to say that facial recognition was and will remain a hot-button topic.
Self-censorship and deepfakes
In a break from academic norms, OpenA in February opted not to make public the corpus used to train its state-of-the-art natural language processing model, known as GPT-2, nor the training code that accompanied it. In a blog post justifying its decision, OpenAI expressed concern that they might be used to generate synthetic financial news about specific companies, for instance, or screeds of racist or sexist text and fake reviews on sites like Amazon or Yelp.
OpenAI subsequently released several smaller and less complex versions of GPT-2 and studied their reception as well as the data sets on which they trained on. After concluding that there was “no strong evidence” of misuse, it published the full model — which was trained on eight million text documents scraped from the web — last month.
Critics of OpenAI’s decision argued that the firm exaggerated the danger posed by their work, and that it inadvertently stoked mass hysteria about AI and machine learning in the process. This aside, they assert that OpenAI disadvantaged researchers by depriving them of access to breakthrough AI techniques, and that it effectively prevented the research community from identifying faults in GPT-2 or coming up with potential countermeasures.
They have a point, but OpenAI’s fears weren’t entirely unfounded. Deepfakes, or media that takes a person in an existing image, audio recording, or video and replaces them with someone else’s likeness using AI, multiplied quickly in 2019. Deeptrace found 14,698 deepfake videos on the internet during its most recent tally in June and July, up 84% from last December. That’s troubling not only because deepfakes might be used to sway public opinion during an election or to implicate someone in a crime they didn’t commit, but because they’ve already been used to produce pornographic material and to swindle companies out of hundreds of millions of dollars.
Tech giants including Facebook, Microsoft, and Amazon have teamed up with academic partners including MIT and Cornell to help fight the spread of AI-originated misleading media, but OpenAI’s hesitancy to release its model is a bellwether of the challenges ahead. Indeed, Experian predicts that in 2020, cyber criminals will use AI technology to disrupt commercial enterprises’ operations and create geopolitical confusion among nations.
Privacy
For all the good they’ve done, AI and machine learning algorithms have a major privacy problem.
The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, a division of the U.K.’s National Health Service based in London, provided Alphabet’s DeepMind with data on 1.6 million patients without their consent. Google (whose health data-sharing partnership with Ascension became the subject of scrutiny in November) abandoned plans to publish scans of chest X-rays over concerns that they contained personally identifiable information. This past summer, Microsoft quietly removed a data set (MS Celeb) with more than 10 million images of people after it was revealed that some weren’t aware they had been included. And ImageNet, an open source library commonly used to train computer vision algorithms, was revealed to have at some point contained depictions of intimate acts scraped from Google, Flickr, and elsewhere.
Separately, tech giants including Apple and Google have been the subject of reports uncovering the potential misuse of recordings collected to improve assistants like Siri and Google Assistant. In April, Bloomberg revealed that Amazon employs contract workers to annotate thousands of hours of audio from Alexa-powered devices, prompting the company to roll out user-facing tools that quickly delete cloud-stored data.
That’s all problematic given that increasingly, privacy isn’t merely a question of philosophy but table stakes in the course of business. Laws at the state, local, and federal levels aim to make privacy a mandatory part of compliance management. Hundreds of bills that address privacy, cybersecurity, and data breaches are pending or have already been passed in 50 U.S. states, territories, and the District of Columbia. Arguably the most comprehensive of them all, the California Consumer Privacy Act was signed into law roughly two years ago. That’s not to mention the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which requires companies to seek authorization before disclosing individual health information.
In response, Google and others have released libraries such as TensorFlow Privacy and PySyft for machine learning frameworks including TensorFlow and PyTorch, which provide strong privacy guarantees with techniques like differential privacy. Simultaneously, they’ve pursued techniques including federated learning, which trains AI across decentralized devices or servers (i.e., nodes) holding data samples without exchanging those samples, and homomorphic encryption, a form of cryptography that enables computation on plaintext (file contents) encrypted using an algorithm (also known as ciphertexts). And on the fully managed services side of the equation, tech giants like Amazon have moved to make their offerings comply with regulations like HIPAA.
Automation
While fears of job-stealing AI might have been overblown, automation is eroding the need for human labor.
A McKinsey Global Institute report published earlier this year found that women predominate in occupations that will be adversely changed by AI and machine learning. About 40% of jobs where men make up the majority in the 10 economies contributing over 60% of GDP collectively could be displaced by automation by 2030, compared with the 52% of women-dominated jobs with high automation potential.
These sentiments jibe with a March 2019 report from the U.K. Office for National Statistics (ONS), which found that 10% of the U.K.’s workforce (about 1.5 million workers) occupy jobs that are at “high risk” of automation. ONS forecasted that service workers — chiefly waiters and waitresses, retail inventory restockers, and entry-level salespeople — would be disproportionately affected, as well as those in agricultural, automotive, and service industries. And the department predicted that women, who in 2017 held 70.2% of high-risk jobs, would bear the brunt of the coming labor market shifts.
Whether they take up new work or acquire new skills in their current fields, it’s anticipated that tens of millions of workers will have to make some sort of occupational transition by 2030. Forrester found that automation could eliminate 10% of U.S. jobs in the coming months. And the World Economic Forum, PricewaterhouseCoopers, McKinsey Global Institute, and Gartner have forecast that AI could make redundant as many as 75 million jobs by 2025.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, various forms of universal basic income, such as regular payments to citizens regardless of income, have the endorsements of luminaries such as Richard Branson and Elon Musk. U.S. presidential candidate Andrew Yang made it a central part of his campaign for the Democrats’ nomination — he asserts that payments furnished by a value-added tax could kick-start economic development in regions of the U.S. that haven’t benefited from a wellspring of venture capital. As for Bill Gates, he’s suggested imposing a “robot tax,” whereby the government would extract a fee every time a business replaces an employee with automated software or machines.
Looking ahead
The challenges with AI are formidable. Facial recognition remains a potent and largely unregulated application of machine learning that’s enhancing — and in some cases creating — surveillance states. Deepfakes weigh heavily on tech companies and academics, along with the general public. Definitive solutions to the privacy questions in AI are elusive. And no matter whether workers reskill, automation is predicted to impact the livelihoods of millions.
What answers might 2020 hold? Tough to say. But for all the dilemmas posed by AI, it’s effected enormous positive change. AI this year achieved the state of the art in protein folding, which could pave the way for new therapies and medications. Various implementations of machine learning are being used to tackle global climate change. And AI has allowed people with speech and hearing impediments to use products that were previously unavailable to them.
As with any paradigm shift, there’s invariably some bad with the good. The industry’s task — and indeed, our task — is doing all within its power to advance the latter at the former’s expense.

These 10 Occupations Could Face Labor Shortages as Older Workers Retire
Some jobs are showing their age.
Certain occupations are facing potential shortages in the next decade due to an aging workforce and lack of young workers entering the field.
Our data journalist Alex Mahadevan did an analysis of the U.S. Census Bureau’s Current Population Survey. He compared the number of workers age 45 and older against workers age 16 to 24 to determine which occupations have the largest ratio of old to young employees.
We picked out nine jobs that are dominated by an older workforce and broke down what it takes to land a job in that field. But why would you want to work in a career that no one is joining, you ask?
Well, because the labor market is pretty darn hot right now, with U.S. Labor Department numbers showing that the number of job openings now exceeds the workforce. And if an occupation is facing a potential labor shortage due to retirement-age employees exiting, that means employers are going to have to compete to fill the gaps.
Stiff competition can potentially lead to better working conditions, with employers boosting pay, offering benefits and handing out bonuses in an effort to attract employees. The tight labor market also puts employees in a better position to negotiate for higher pay or more benefits.
So whether you’re figuring out what career path to take or considering transitioning to a new field, here are some jobs that are hurting for young blood.
9 Jobs With a Large Aging Workforce
Animal Control Workers
Number of workers 45 and older: 9,000
Number of workers under 25: Less than 100
Median pay: $35,520
Typical education requirement: High school diploma or equivalent
Just in case you’ve never seen one of those heartbreaking commercials, animal control officers typically handle investigations of mistreatment, abandonment, dangerous or unattended animals. They are also in charge of enforcing local and regional animal treatment laws.
Along with an interest in working with animals, this profession requires knowledge of public safety, problem sensitivity and personal service skills. A lot of face-to-face time comes with the job, usually in volatile situations.
Most animal control officers receive on-the-job training, but there are other certifications and training programs available through institutions like the National Animal Care & Control Association.
Aircraft Pilots and Flight Engineers
Number of workers 45 and older: 74,000
Number of workers under 25: 2,000
Median pay: $137,330
Typical education requirement: Bachelor’s degree
The pilot shortage has been a hot topic in the news for the past year. Thousands of pilots are approaching retirement age but the number of young workers training for the occupation is low. Couple that with the increase in plane manufacturing and the growing demand for air travel, and you’ve got a shortage.
Obviously, this is a career that requires a lot of education, training and experience — you can’t just hop in the cockpit and start cruising the skies.
Applicants have to go through pilot school to obtain a pilot certification. And after that, there are more certifications, training and flight time to complete to work for an airline. Here’s some more info on how to become a pilot.
Librarians
Number of workers 45 and older: 104,000
Number of workers under 25: 10,000
Median pay: $58,520
Typical education requirement: Master’s degree
Considering the dominant aging workforce, maybe the “old librarian” trope isn’t too far off. This occupation can be found in academic, public, private and school libraries, as well as the federal government.
Aside from a passion for the written word, librarians typically have a master’s degree in library and information science. They can also hold a master’s in a specialty field. Librarians in public schools may be required to have an extra level of certification.
Morticians, Undertakers and Funeral Directors
Number of workers 45 and older: 28,000
Number of workers under 25: Less than 100
Median pay: $51,850
Typical education requirement: Associate’s degree
Tasks for morticians involve arranging and directing funeral services. This can include consulting families, preparing remains and contacting cemeteries.
This occupation can be taxing, considering the subject matter and the fact that it requires employees to be available long hours, including weekends. Death rarely sticks to a 9-to-5 schedule.
Along with an associate’s degree in mortuary science, this profession typically requires some apprenticeship experience and licensing. Accredited programs that offer mortuary studies can be found through the American Board of Funeral Service Education.
Compassion and strong personal skills are needed to work in this profession. On top of that, time management and organization play major roles, seeing as how morticians are overseeing an event. And bonus points if your last name is Addams.
Coin, Vending and Amusement Machine Servicers and Repairers
Number of workers 45 and older: 14,000
Number of workers under 25: 1,000
Median pay: $33,690
Typical education requirement: High school diploma or equivalent
This is one of those jobs that you don’t really think about until one day you see someone stocking a claw machine with stuffed animals.
Aside from restocking, the occupation includes inspecting and repairing machines as needed, so maintenance and mechanical skills are needed. More specific knowledge will depend on the type of machine that needs servicing but could include circuit boards, processors or computer hardware.
Private Detectives and Investigators
Number of workers 45 and older: 47,000
Number of workers under 25: 4,000
Median pay: $50,700
Typical education requirement: Bachelor’s degree
Private detective might conjure images of Nancy Drew or the Hardy Boys, but it’s actually a lot more modern than that. Aside from private eyes, this occupation can include loss prevention officers, asset protection detectives and field investigators. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills top the list of requirements for this gig.
Tasks in these positions might be pre-employment checks, investigating fraudulent insurance claims or obtaining information for criminal court cases. So, it’s a little less glamorous than “The Maltese Falcon” would lead you to believe.
Writers and Authors
Number of workers 45 and older: 123,000
Number of workers under 25: 10,000
Median pay: $61,820
Typical education requirement: Bachelor’s degree
Ah, an occupation close to my heart. This group includes copywriters, poets, lyricists, novelists, playwrights, biographers and screenwriters, to name a few. So, you don’t have to be the next Tolkien to get in on this career.
A bachelor’s degree is reported as the average education level, but experience will go a long way in this field as well. Obviously, the top skills include writing and reading comprehension, but others that one might not think of include sales, marketing and customer service. Basically, there are writing jobs found in more areas than you think.
Archivists, Curators and Museum Technicians
Number of workers 45 and older: 29,000
Number of workers under 25: 3,000
Median pay: $51,760
Typical education requirement: Master’s degree
Archivists, curators and museum techs actually have a bright outlook, with a 10% to 14% projected growth rate between 2016 and 2026. But the gap between the young and aging workforce is hard to ignore.
Along with a graduate degree, people in these roles typically have strong organizational, reading comprehension and research skills. Day-to-day activities could include transcribing, appraising and authenticating historical documents or permanent records. That, and protecting the Declaration of Independence from Nicolas Cage.
Chiropractors
Number of workers 45 and older: 34,000
Number of workers under 25: Less than 100
Median pay: $68,640
Typical education requirement: Doctoral or professional degree
This is another occupation that is projected to see growth over the next decade, but the current young workforce is extremely low.
The majority of respondents in this field listed a doctoral or professional degree as the typical education requirement, but chiropractors technically don’t have to go to medical school. They earn a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from an accredited chiropractic program and become licensed practitioners.
Bus Drivers
Number of workers 45 and older: 413,000
Number of workers under 25: 21,000
Median pay: $40,780
Typical education requirement: High school diploma or equivalent
Remember Dorothy Harris, the bus driver in “Forrest Gump?” We saw her drive Forrest to school and then do the same for his son some 30 years later. That little movie tidbit is oddly factual, considering that the median age of bus drivers is 53 and the ratio between young and old workers is 19.6%.
Obviously, bus drivers should be skilled at operating a motor vehicle — but they also must be willing to sit for long hours in an enclosed space and interact with customers frequently.
Government positions take up about half of the industry, such as school or city bus drivers, but there are other roles such as charter and warehouse bus operators.

Crawlers consistently actually could not communicate with aims of any sort, creating so many objectives effectively unplayable payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Pay day 2 was not essentially across the internal bleeding fringe of design tech when this first emerged to the picture across the previous age group of consoles, plus it undoubtedly indicates deterioration at this website, specifically within where by circumstances physical appearance flat and angular all through payday 2 cheats pc 2014. |Overkill is familiar with the condition, and possesses labored to resolve it, but for me, the ps4 type was the better over the web discover payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Then labored previously without requiring no reason and he has not labored from payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Theoretically, the responsibility was very simple payday 2 cheats pc 2014. I d hurry downstairs and begin presenting the lending company s patrons to mr wire tie payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Time for you to go high in volume payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Sometimes it s as a result of fuzzy laws, despite the fact that re consistently really conscientious, as was your situation with my silenced gunshot indeed being read on top of the uppermost payday 2 cheats pc 2014. |Pay day 2 needs that you totally stop working as it is not really a heist generator conversely a heist designed siege shooter payday 2 cheats pc 2014. The meth clinical vision requires a minumum of 1 teams user to lightly contribute foods in direction of the blend during the ultimate time, while you are absolutely everyone otherwise fights intensely armoured swat enforcers in the kitchen field downstairs payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Inevitably, things goes completely wrong at these experiences also the drill will jam, the meth organize models fireplace with regard to the highest flooring payday 2 cheats pc 2014. To start to be rational, i realize the vision the purpose of this really is that will help truly feel a smaller amount of much like a gamer dictating terminology and more much like a criminal taking occupation payday 2 cheats pc 2014. It really is simply just ill-fated that just about everything relevant skills and weaponry, face masks and tweaks unlocks slowly but surely, or much worse, arbitrarily payday 2 cheats pc 2014. You will need to simply just turned into that seasoned criminal first payday 2 cheats pc 2014. In offense, like with generator improvement, just about everything doesn t really go as arranged payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Goal aims are frequently evident, on the other hand there are lots of subtleties to face also payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Strange happenings with civilian and authorities personality products, wall surfaces you could drag stable stuff via, together with other specialised oddities turn up all through Cheat Code Payday 2 Pc payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Shifting your loot into a defensible place, closing the stainless steel shutters upon the place, or determining panels to board up a home window will aid you to carry on as soon as look for your drill or lock pick or laptop or computer hack to use its wonder payday 2 cheats pc 2014. |Suspend within prolonged good enough, while you ll inevitably be overrun, regardless of how skillfully you lag time and challenge the evolving waves payday 2 cheats pc 2014. (feel a design?) a few of these relevant skills just mean you can improve at whatever you could already do, so that you can do significantly more Wielding a observed mainly because the vital weapon allows you to slice via some doorways and split available atms payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Even if the personal computer is plainly the ideal software for Cheat Code Payday 2 Pc, you ll take a rollicking wonderful time it doesn t thing what machine you actually are while using payday 2 cheats pc 2014. As prolonged as it possibly can incorporate some felons to battle together with, Cheat Code Payday 2 Pc is definitely an obsessive and daunting criminal pursuit payday 2 cheats pc 2014. 2013 most useful personal computer generator payday 2 cheats pc 2014. The “point break” of generator titles has came back for all the 2nd A mysterious machine referred to as offense the net generates multiple arrangements which may be specified from plenty of heist categories this includes traditional designed robberies, buying at a distance during the cops and stealth depending thresholds that happen to be exceed a couple of days payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Your teams buddies are found that, your teams payday 2 cheats pc 2014. |You ve 4 highly specific skill level shrubs to conquer payday 2 cheats pc 2014. “so why would we take place robbing the banks” you will most certainly inquire? Your money can find obviously! The money could well be exhausted by means of the generator to order pistols, relevant skills, face masks and then finally the sport promotions picking model firearm turrets and getaway mines payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Overkill has undoubtedly upped the conventional from their very last getaway payday 2 cheats pc 2014. There isn’t any substantial “story” in each say payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Just about every heist consists of a major plot supporting why you are running, but there isn’t any overarching narrative that actually ties them completely payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Most objectives might possibly be stealthed via, which happens to be highly gratifying once your teams could collaborate to pull within the “perfect crime” without having cops buying taking part payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Pay day 2 are often very obsessive and a lot of pleasant, a lot of unique objectives indeed being about storing your floor along with a small amount of driving that you totally shove forward in intervals payday 2 cheats pc 2014. The sport has four skill level shrubs to put your areas into every “class” may bring invaluable options to objectives payday 2 cheats pc 2014. |With luck , the creators will commonly introduction dlc with new objectives to aid using this type of, but we might want to see what make they ve arranged for performing that payday 2 cheats pc 2014. One of the many highest quality to grind a very simple vision payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Equally, the fascinated out grind can be be extremely strenuous payday 2 cheats pc 2014. But that’s enough kvetching in this Subject of the great thing about Cheat Code Payday 2 Pc, that has been also the advantage of payday 1, is the reason that there’s smaller otherwise enjoy it payday 2 cheats pc 2014. You are unable to lower the significance of altering the site around the vault doorstep or the direction to the holiday car or truck, with plenty of alternatives for earning profits payday 2 cheats pc 2014. I have not started to suss out all the consequences of quite a lot of choices, knowning that i never believe that overkill has sometimes payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Handy |Time for you to go high in volume payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Pay day 2 is not a stealth generator, however it pretends to start to be, since the majority of heists commence with you housing the joint payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Likewise, it implies that the decision in the start of the vision anywhere between wearing humble civilian apparel or conspicuous overall body armour is not really a determination in anyway except if you are ready to restart before you can comprehend it nicely payday 2 cheats pc 2014. This means that having fun with arbitrary allies could well be much less pleasant payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Even though you may take a inclined family of accomplices, you simply must put up with the vision choose panel payday 2 cheats pc 2014. I had essential to retroactively forgive great deal hosts for booting me when you are done i would be a lowly range someone personality, for the reason that the reality is that a novice traditional bank thief This is actually irony at this website payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Unfortunately, Cheat Code Payday 2 Pc is just a followup within a loosest a sense the expression, recycling its precursor s formulation with unsuccessful renovations in direction of the generator perform together with plenty of undercooked, uninspired circumstances that tumble flat in comparison to the significantly more stressed originals payday 2 cheats pc 2014. |Someone most important modify is the introduction of stealth, where heists could well be done and finished in key for all the bigger payout payday 2 cheats pc 2014. The very first generator s opponents rarely gained close good enough to stop their unsophisticated ai regimens, consequently not great the false impression of certainty, in contrast to Cheat Code Payday 2 Pc s morons face bedrooms together with you and acquire got rid of payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Ponder “mall crasher,” a vision that invites the gamer to purchase knowledgable about the destruction around the looking shopping center what may have been a fantastic duty of inflicting mayhem in the inhabited field is minimized in direction of the terrifically boring, mundane behave of separately doing damage to materials in shops so that you can achieve a ridiculous destruction “value” ahead of the generator can move forward payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Lots of the gear you criticize Cheat Code Payday 2 Pc about are actually within a first generator also payday 2 cheats pc 2014. It is the bottom cause of the new generator decision machine payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Do you need to understand how the sport perform on your is effective in an effective way? Initially you re competent to the panel that implies you surpass the heist, purchase regardless of whether You said it was so difficult to find people to have fun with (besides the fact that there will be really people to have fun with when you are done i done) why do you wish to allow it to be difficult? I give this overview a from 5 payday 2 cheats pc 2014. The sad thing is, although this substantial pack goods a brimming dufflebag value of articles and other content, it does not deal with the issues which have plagued the base generator from launch payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Pay day 2 can be described as generator with stunning degree payday 2 cheats pc 2014. |I recall wondering the slowly you can start would be a disservice in direction of the generator three years previously, in fact it is ill-fated overkill But, it is improve payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Tools is available with moolah, but constantly offer range standards so the beginner can t just hurry just about the most effectual weaponry within the gate payday 2 cheats pc 2014. But, perfecting the garish stainless pinkish off of business cobra commander cover up you ve really imagined will consistently spend some time payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Teammates consistently just gaze at It s shameful that this sort of major attribute continues to be still left in this particular sorry disorder payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Overkill exhausted three years bolting on fancier spoilers, lamps, and hubcaps when what it really called for became a differ from the crammed up transmission payday 2 cheats pc 2014. Ultimately, on the other hand, not one person may find us use payday 2 cheats pc 2014. |I really believe many game enthusiasts take a very similar notice the generator is perhaps very difficult payday 2 cheats pc 2014. If a vision is decided, game enthusiasts are visit a reception payday 2 cheats pc 2014. I truly do not genuinely take a continual loadout, it absolutely will depend on which style of vision it s and easily what all of the other squad s form is payday 2 cheats pc 2014. denoting who what any time, with talking about loadouts payday 2 cheats pc 2014.

DS9 season 5 liveblog
[Season index: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 PS]
Apocalypse Rising
This is the worst device prototype... :D
Sisko makes a very handsome Klingon!
"But don't forget, this is still your fault." I knew they'd have to make a joke about this... :D
The Klingon practive! :D
Dukat does a Renegade interrupt... :D "It was either that or trust in Mister Worf's ability to lie. And frankly, I have more faith in my weapons"
How does nobody recognize Worf?!
Okay, so when Odo "got sick" he was actually poisoned by the Founders to bring him to them for judgement except it was to implant him with false information so that they would assassinate Gowron for them, except if they managed to kill Gowron it would have been obvious he was a Klingon, and if they caught Martok in the field his identity would have been exposed, so maybe they just intended them to be caught and be a reason for escalation, but none of this is addressed...
What was the official reason for invading Cardassia anyway, I don't remember after marathoning so fast?
The Ship
I like O'Brien and Muniz
of course a female Vorta wears a bright colored dress with giant cleavage, heavy makeup, and earrings
oh god, did the boy actually die? :O
I freaking knew it was a changeling aboard
god, so many people died because of miscommunication?!
(This trope is pretty much my worst nightmare aaa)
this is one of the most upsetting stories so far :( I don't think even Hard Time made me cry for so long...
Looking for par'Mach in All the Wrong Places
Julian...
Worf has good taste!
"What house is she from" Boy you have a surprise waiting for you! :D
grow up, Julian, seriously... :D
poor Worf, what an embarrasment
what a happy poly family!
someone's jealous, Odo!
aw everyone, stop making their lovely arrangement awkward
oh Worf, when will you see it :D
aww just accept that the three of you are married now
that's what you get for being nosy at the beginning of the episode, Julian :D
congrats on the sex, everyone! :D I didn't expect Quark to actually get lucky with Grilka... And I'm so happy that Worf finally got laid properly -- it was so sad to watch his human-like advances on Deanna and that one half-Romulan in TNG.
this episode watered my crops, cleared my skin etc. it's been an hour and I'm still in a great mood
...Nor the Battle to the Strong
Bashir's unstoppable monologue claims another victim
I really like this dynamic -- young Jake who didn't know what he was getting into and feels very out of place, and the mature and experienced Bashir seen from his perspective
oh god, Bashir is so happy and relieved to see Jake and even apologies while Jake is about to be crushed by his guilt, I'm going to cry :(
Bashir is such a kind person :(
The Assignment
Yikes, you two really messed up! "I have to be in surgery, operating." "On who?" "I'll find someone."
Wow, Rom's really a genius
I hope this was *the* O'Brien suffering episode of the season and he'll be free for the rest of it! It was pretty tame, especially compared to last year...
Trials and Tribble-ations
I've been looking forward to this episode for years! And I just rewatched The Trouble with Tribbles for preparation.
What did Bashir do to his hair?!
"I'm a doctor, not an historian"
omg Odo in the same frame as Uhura and Chekov!
damn, they're really good at pasting new characters into the archive footage :D
Dax repeating Spock's line :D
going back to the greyness of the DS9 ops after all these bright colors...
This is really a perfect example of an anniversary/tribute/crossover episode! All of those disappointing cameos in TNG look even weaker now. And the visuals are incredible. I expected them to just but back and forth between old and new footage, not to actually edit TOS scenes -- and so cleanly!
Let He Who is Without Sin...
Poor introverted Worf...
I still don't want to see Julian/Leeta but at least they came here to break up
Worf I'm pretty sure this is illegal not to mention tremendously stupid
welp this was bad
Things Past
yikes Garak, no the Bajorans don't appreciate you playing devil's advocate
poor Dax "ran out of speculation" trying to justify standard filming conventions :D
y i k e s @Dukat
Garak: "I never knew we were such messy conquerors. I remember the occupation being a little more tidy than this." Sisko: "Everything's tidy when someone else is doing the cleaning." Garak: "The Bajorans were much more suited for this sort of thing than we were. Servile work is in their nature." also yikes
Dax is hyper-competent this time. like we’ve seen in “Past Tense”, she has a talent for impersonating someone from the past
"When your people resort to terrorism and violence, they're fighting against order, against stability, against the rule of law, and this must be stopped" this is all about trying to convince Odo that the Founders are right, isn't it
A reversal of "Necessary Evil" -- this time it's Odo who didn't magically spend years enforcing order for the occupants and still remain innocent. Odo as a "former Cardassian oppressor" is a story that was waiting to be told (even if this episode is weaker than Necessary Evil). The further I go, the more I become convinced that Odo is the best character and the heart and thematical center of the entire story.
I... don't really understand Garak's part in this episode. Dax is better than him as a secret agent, Odo is better both at being a Cardassian oppressor and at reflecting on it. It's not like I expected Garak to go "omg I learned my lesson" at the end, but I was waiting for something. He comes off kind of naive and incompetent about the whole thing. And Odo of all people saying "Interesting that a simple tailor should just happen to have a high-level security code" is out of season or out of character and either way has no place here. Which kind of makes me lose faith that the rest of Garak’s behavior -- why is he so eager to parrot anti-Bajoran propaganda? -- is a part of some long pre-planned arc. By now I kinda have a feeling that the writers just throw out random lines and hope the actor’s skill will save them.
The Ascent
Odo is Cassandra Pentaghast :D
How did they survive in these conditions without food and water? Sometimes I don't know if I'm too weak & spoiled or the writers are exaggerating the hardships their characters go through...
Jake-Nog subplot got solved too fast
Rapture
What, they just change uniforms overnight in the middle of the season?!
"Those of you who were in the Resistance, you're all the same. You think you're the only ones who fought the Cardassians, that you saved Bajor singlehandedly. Perhaps you forget, Major, the Cardassians arrested any Bajoran they found teaching the word of the Prophets. I was in a Cardassian prison camp for five years and I can remember each and every beating I suffered. And while you had your weapons to protect you, all I had was my faith and my courage."
Look, I can understand why Sisko is choosing his visions over everything, and maybe I would have done the same, but this still squicks me and I don't want to watch it
Let me guess, all this religious propaganda will be justified because Sisko's vision will reveal something super important about the Dominion's moves
can we not go back to Bajoran spirituality any time soon please
(Why did the visions start, anyway? He was zapped by the holosuite computer, so what?)
Btw, if, judging from the uniforms, First Contact happened between the previous episode and this one, I'd like a reference to it? Worf, you were there! Sisko, that was the Borg! Hello?
The Darkness and the Light
ouch D:
if he was just a servant, how does he have the skills and knowledge for precize and difficult attacks like these?
"He wanted to protect the innocent and separate the darkness from the light. But he didn't realise the light only shines in the dark and sometimes innocence is just an excuse for the guilty" why is Kira talking like this... what kind of OOC bullshit...
maybe it's just because I caught Bryan Fuller's name in the credits, but this just felt like an episode of Hannibal... A string of brutal and overcomplicated murders, a grotesque villain with poetic speech, focus on misogynistic violence... I sure hope Discovery is nothing like this! I'm so angry Kira's friends died for this nonsense
the only good part was Kira’s unrepentant speech
The Begotten
Baby changeling! Odo gets "The Offspring" of his own! Let's hope this one has a happier ending...
is it just me or is Bashir prettier than usual in this episode?
Odo don't put the baby in a cup!!! what if someone drinks it?! D:
oh god, he's making Odo do these things himself D:
what a magical moment!!! aaaa
oh no Odo was so happy I just knew they'd kill his baby
he's holding it in his hands :((
I had a feeling they'd be able to link!! Even the conclusion is like "The Offspring" -- the father absorbs his child. I expected the story to end with Odo having to give it to the Founders because only they can save its life/raise it for some reason
Odo and Kira bonding over losing their babies :(
finally, a great episode again!
For the Uniform
Loving the manual departure scene! But how exactly is Nog relaying communications to the engine room?
I continue to understand nothing about the Maquis situation. What's a "Maquis colony"? I thought only the terrorists themselves used that name, not the civilians they protected?
Eddington's use of chemical weapons against civilians is presented as moral event horizon, but Sisko's retaliation in kind is postfactum approved by Starfleet? I thought he was bluffing, and I assume his crew thought he knew what he was doing which is why they didn't object, but Eddington expected him to act like a villain and he literally did?? He used weapons of mass destruction against an entire planet populated by humans who may or may not be Federation citizens (or, alternatively, Cardassian citizens, which might be even worse politically). But that's fine, because the entire population of that planet managed to evacuate before the poison killed them. I don't know how to go on watching the show after this.
In Purgatory's Shadow / By Inferno’s Light
Bashir is great :D
Aw, Bashir isn't going with him? :(
hate to agree with Dukat, but yeah, this is inappropriate
"The man is a heartless, cold-blooded killer" "Like I said, he's a Cardassian"
w h a t
damn, just as I thought Julian was being unusually cool at the beginning of the episode, he turned out to be a changeling
okay, I knew about Dukat and the Dominion and had been waiting for it. but I'm stuck on Changeling Bashir. How long? Since before the uniform change? I feel betrayed. I want to believe it was the real Bashir in The Begotten! Not only because I love that episode -- the presence of a Founder would have changed the plot completely!
I thought I could spend one episode without gushing about how Dukat is written, but apparently not, so here it goes. This plot twist makes perfect sense on so many levels! Sisko has commented before on how quick Dukat was to join the winning side after the fall of the Obsidian Order. Dukat himself made a big speech about missing the good old times when Cardassia was feared (and as a viewer, I kind of miss that too...). Cardassia is the main antagonist of the show's past and the Dominion -- of present/future, and their autoritarian nature is pretty similar. As far as I remember, Dukat hasn't met the Founders before and is probably unaware of their deep hatred of solids, plus his usual overconfidence makes him underestimate the Dominion’s power, so I can see how he would treat this like any other alliance. I hope this means we'll see more Cardassians again, not just Jem'Hadar exploiting their territory and resources.
I wish Ziyal were a bit more conflicted over the entire thing -- she spent her entire life idealizing her father and trying to justify his actions, and taking off the rose-tinted glasses should be more difficult and traumatic than "Oh I guess all of you were right and my dad is a bad guy after all".
Doctor Bashir, I Presume
Leeta, just ask him out yourself!
lol, Bashir should have told them about the hologram...
I knew the big spoiler, but assumed the genetic enhancement was prenatal, so the actual story about parental ableism still came as a surprise. I hope this will be discussed again in the following episodes!
The story about a son who has good reasons to resent the father but forgives him in the end is a bit to similar to The Begotten, but I don't mind that much.
Miles is such a good friend :')
All of the A-plot was great, but the B-plot slightly spoiled the impression.
The resolution of the problem is what should have happened in the first place. Julian is in no way responsible for what was done to him as a child!
So if we didn't take this perfect opportunity to talk about changeling!Bashir now, I guess that won't be discussed ever?
A Simple Investigation
"I've done things in my life I'm not proud of, too. You worked for Draim, I worked for the Cardassians. I never had the courage to walk away. You did. I admire that"
Bashir and O'Brien's larping :D
I thought Odo wasn't capable of enjoying this kind of thing?
"Once, on my homeworld, I had an experience that you might consider sexual" uh... did I miss something?
remember season 1 when Odo was adamantly aroace? good times...
wait what did he do with her hand?
the plot was so boring I had to force my self to focus on screen. and why make Odo fall in love (again) and have sex? that's stupid, leave him alone
Business as Usual
How come Quark is shunned by absolutely everyone? And the general disapproval is represented by Kira (who herself admits that weapon trade saved Bajor), Sisko (who used WMD only a few episodes ago) and Dax (a big fan of a certain culture built around violence).
Ties of Blood and Water
Just as I was thinking that this season has a lot stories with daddy issues, and that Kira doesn't have a father -- this guy shows up! Aww, Kira is so happy to see him"! I hope this doesn't mean he'll be dead by the end of the episode...
"I'm dying" of fucking course........
SHE JUST THREW A CUP RIGHT AT HIS FACE this is incredible
(Kira is literally too tired to deal with his shit. And it's beautiful. I don't think I've ever seen anything like her body language, expressions and voice in this scene. She doesn't even dignify his "sick little games" with a single shifting of pose before that one sharp movement to throw the cup.)
(at first I thought the cup broke as it hit his face, which was a completely delightful image, but sadly not what happened)
Kira, he was a member of the Central Command, what did you expect?
Weyoun is great :D
Kira, have you finished questioning him or not? If not, you shoud continue, regardless of your personal relationship.
I really enjoyed this episode, though there are some things that don't let me be truly impressed by it. It was pretty predictable; Kira's anger seemed naive and immature, and the revelation at the end did not completely disperse that impression.
From reactions of Odo and Bashir, who say nothing like "It's your duty to continue asking him questions" it seems like their interviews were over, but the montage and Dukat's poisoning attempt suggest the opposite. All of that is a shame, because this episode is my favourite kind of DS9 episode.
Ferengi Love Songs
Why is the Nagus of all people completely fine with her wearing clothes?
It's disappointing to go back to status quo. I thought the new life without a Ferengi business license would mean character development, but apparently not. And Ishka is weaker here than in Family Business.
Soldiers of the Empire
Always love a good Klingon episode! Honor! Fighting spirit! Jadzia and Worf being awesome!
Also I'm greatly amused that Julian was assigned to be an intelligence officer of all things.
Children of Time
O'Brien is the only one who reacts normally to this creepy situation...
The premise of the entire story doesn't work for me because apparently we're supposed to think that being stuck on an isolated planet with little technology is idyllic instead of horrifying??? I'd do a lot of things just to prevent that. Imagine all the inbreeding that must happen with only 48 ancestors, eww.
Oh boo fucking hoo, you won't have descendants on the planet, well you'll have about as many in the real world in 200 years, plus your absense at DS9 won't deal a strategic blow to the security of the Alpha Quadrant -- why isn't anyone talking about that?
And as usual with time loop stories, it's hard to take the entire thing seriously because -- what happened the first time? Did Jadzia fail to check the logs? Did they not meet their future descendants at all, sat for two days on the empty planet repairing the ship and just happened to stumble upon the anomaly on their way out? By interacting with the crew, the colonists are already changing the timeline, so there's no reason to believe that going back in time will preserve their history instead of making a new version of it.
Blaze of Glory
Eddington is like people who complain about products that have too many 'chemicals'
The writers didn't know what to do with the Maquis so they wiped them out offscreen and tried to wrap up the story with another team-up of rivals, but Eddington is no Dukat and the story itself is not strong enough. RIP Maquis storyline, you were a mess.
Empok Nor
Ouch, Garak, don't so casually bring up O'Brien's greatest traumas!
I have a bad feeling about all of these young nameless officers...
That doesn't look like a great environment for someone with claustrophobia
Cardassian faces always look so great in chiaroscuro! Since season 2 I've wanted to see Garak in this lighting, and the show finally delivers.
"You're right. I'm an engineer" :D
Very cheesy episode, but I enjoyed it more than any of the Mirror ones...
In the Cards
The scene with the crazy doctor and bargaining with Bashir are really hilarious...
"It is enough to know that you and I have found so many common interests. I feel that we are very much alike. :))))" "*grabs his ear* No. We are nothing alike. Nothing at all. :))))))"
What a wonderful episode!!! (But where was Dax?)
Call to Arms
"We're losing the peace, which means a war could be our only hope"
THIS IS SO EPIC!!! And finally, Sisko's prophecy in "Rapture" comes true.
General impressions:
Dax was reinvigorated! -- by the romance or not, but she seemed more vibrant than ever this season. Bashir got more character development! O'Brien suffered a little less than in the previous years! Dukat got to be openly antagonistic!
As usual, my favorite part is the main epic plot. There were three great comedy episodes this time: Par'Mach, Tribbles and Cards. Other favorites: Nor the Battle to the Strong; Things Past; The Begotten; Doctor Bashir, I Presume; Ties of Blood and Water.
Once again, Klingons are allies, Cardassians are enemies, and Quark is not an outcast. Must we cling so hard to the status quo?
