Poked my head into some of @mysticdragon3md3′s thoughts regarding popularity with DimiClaude fanon and am happy to say I’m here to Talk (tee em).

I also saw the post from the user saying why they were falling out of love for the ship, and... yeah. The people they’re talking about, the generalized group of people who do certain things, definitely bother me as well.

I love that you pointed out Claude is not flirty and is just playful. It’s not the DimiClaude fandom alone unfortunately with that though - it’s the entire fanbase that views him as a flirt. And, according to Twitter, a slut. Yeah. Yeah. I know what they... “mean”... but it is still not him.

Them being annoyed with each other is also fanon and a very strange one. Never in Houses did Dimitri come across as being annoyed or bothered by him. In fact, they have friendly banter! Dimitri doesn’t get specifically exasperated at Claude, but that’s just more so how he is as a person and he sometimes doesn’t understand playfulness. That said, he does not berate Claude the way he berates others. There’s one instance I can think of where he berated Claude and that was in the DLC when they were talking to Aelfric for the first time.

In Hopes, same deal in AG. In fact, he’s quite fond of Claude in AG. GW itself was a well discussed mess in a lot of ways, and even then as a ship they didn’t have a lot of negativity. If nothing else it was an odd opposite, because even as enemies when Claude admitted he couldn’t defeat Dimitri alone, Dimitri just basically laughed, smirked and walked away. That’s like... the worst of their relationship in GW and it’s extremely mellow.

I think part of the problem some dmcl fans are facing are the fanon version of the ship rather than what they’re like in canon. It is definitely true that part of the dmcl fandom has absolutely warped the ship into being something it really isn’t and never was in canon. There’s also this whole thing about Dimitri being the dominant, feisty one with Claude being the uwu blushy one and it’s just... not them. Not as a pair canonically, and not individually. When Dimitri gets “dominant”, he’s, uh, not in a good mental state. It’s a mental illness that makes him like that and personally I’ve never appreciated seeing people use it for a kink for a ship. Normally I’d say people can like what they want, but I get the feeling a lot of dmcl fans have absolutely pushed their views onto others and driven fans away.

I will also say have absolutely, 150% come across those kinds of fans. The ones who refuse to listen to anyone else, but if your headcanons don't vibe with them then you’re just completely “wrong”. Not only do they portray the canon characterization poorly if portraying it at all, but they tend to also bring it down a racist route, which is... beyond ironic considering they should be the last ship that deals with that based on their characters and stories.

Engage kinda went wonky with a good few things regarding the previous lords, so I don’t see Dimitri being like that as some kind of definite canon. Actually, even in Heroes their interactions are friendly and calm. The “worst” banter they had was their swim alts, while on the opposite end we have the brave alts who apparently hang out together outside of the castlegrounds, and for so long that they can’t be of any help in a search for someone (which like lol how long you gotta be gone to have no idea and can’t help at all lmao).

I think people see outside-Houses canon scenes like those and just... decide it’s their actual canon. Dimitri is not, in any way, actually mean to Claude in canon. That is unfortunately a very popular fanon. In Houses especially, when Dimitri doesn’t know Claude well in the mock battle he’s more like ummm hey Claude your defenses are open what are you even doing, more than being like ugh Claude you’re so annoying. In the real version of that mock battle though, a good few months had passed and their battle quotes are significantly more approachable and they clearly have respect for each other. Dimitri knows Claude likes to fuck around and be goofy sometimes, and he picked up on that and played along with it in the JP version (in the English version he simply picks up on it, but there’s no anger whatsoever and it’s just more oh okay I get it).

As far as Engage goes, ultimately I just see it more as an extremely condensed version of their mannerisms, and yes, they for some reason, especially in the localized versions, try to keep up the whole rival shtick when Dimitri never even felt that way about Claude, and he never gets truly annoyed at Claude. Ffs, in canon Dimitri literally drops everything after retaking his home from the Empire/TWS, and runs to go save Claude. Literally. The next day. While Claude is a little tsun about it (!), Dimitri is just “come on let’s go hurry hurry no slowing down pick up the pace we are saving Claude”, and that’s basically him the entire chapter except with the Arundel specific stuff. When he talks to Claude one on one, there is literally not a single shred whatsoever in any plausible way or in any damn universe any tension from Dimitri to Claude. He just wants to know he’s okay and relaxes once he knows Claude isn’t hurt. I mean literally, no, like... that’s them, in canon, in their Natural Habitat together and I have no fucking clue how the portrayal of them in fanon got so insanely warped beyond recognition.

Also, Engage kinda dropped the ball with a lot of stuff with the other lords. Hell, they’ve been unable to keep Ike’s character consistent throughout all of his non-canon appearances (Awakening didn’t seem too bad, but Fates was pretty awful for example. They can’t seem to really understand the character they’re writing anymore, and idk if it’s just because the writers have changed and such/aren’t the same as Tellius’ games had, or they just don’t care to keep him consistent).

They also try to make Sigurd sound wise and super helpful in every single solitary iteration of him outside of FE4 which is honestly just obnoxious as fuck lmao. Sigurd was naive, foolish, overly trusting, and far too kind and gentle for his own good. It ultimately was what led to him following orders blindly, having blind faith that his king was righteous and would give him the right orders (without realizing the court was very much in disarray during his absence and with several other prominent court figures away because of the war). Sigurd was too quick to believe in the good in humanity and that things would work out, and it led to him not realizing how wrong he was until it was way too late and he had to take shelter in a foreign country to avoid having to fight the same people’s armies who had the court’s ear.

Basically Sigurd is nothing like they write him to be in every. single. solitary. iteration. outside of FE4. 

(SPOILER here just in case you care lol. Or anyone who is reading this. Or if you’re someone who somehow does not know about the biggest known spoiler in the whole game) He has one little section of potential dialogue (i.e. it’s triggered by a very specific condition) that shows somehow ghosty Sigurd has grown more wise and understanding ??? while being dead ??? and somehow learned while being dead that the world do be full of grief and Stuff. (END SPOILER)

So they pretty much took like, two lines of dialogue from FE4 and made it Sigurd’s entire fucking character forever in every single game he’s been in since. If nothing else, let that be your insight on never to trust content you see outside of a character’s original game. At that point it’s simply fanservice because they don’t even know their own characters. If they wanted to write even a semblance of Actual In Game Sigurd’s Personality And Not Two Lines Of Dialogue That Are Completely Optional And Quite Honestly HIDDEN, it would be very easy and reasonable to do so. They choose not to, and then we get what they did with Houses’ lords.

Another portrayal I see too often is that Dimitri and Claude... argue??? I won’t lie, their Heroes summer alts was the very first time they even seemed to “argue”, and it was mostly just goofy nonsense that means nothing because they’re literally alts in swimsuits, and it wasn’t really them being vicious at each other. Meanwhile in canon, they’re always very calm and able to talk through their problems - even in fucking Hopes in the GW route. Even in the worst possible circumstances for them to be in, that is, as enemies, they were still able to talk it through. Barring Claude’s written in idiocy so he could be a mouthpiece for Edelgard and do her bidding by invading the Kingdom (which was literally nothing but plot convenience because Actual Claude would’ve reasoned his way out of doing that), even in the worst possible situation, they still called a truce and still worked things out verbally, calmly and peacefully.

Point being, this whole cat fight dmcl portrayal isn’t even remotely close to their canon selves, and normally I’d say, you know, like what you want and enjoy your ships how you want... but it’s pretty much almost entirely the people who view the ship that way that uh, attack people who don’t agree with them or insult them/laugh at them for seeing the ship differently. These are the people who make you feel bad, for enjoying a fictional ship of two pixelated characters kissing, because you don’t like the concepts in their head more than the way you’ve interpreted the canonical characters.

To be totally frank, I have a visceral hatred for the fanon portrayal of dmcl because it makes Dimitri out to be terrible and makes Claude some kind of punching bag for Dimitri in various forms. There comes a point where it’s like, you ship something and then there’s the point where you ship two characters you made up in your head, who aren’t the same characters you first started to ship, because you’ve warped them so extensively that they became nothing but a person’s OCs with their faces and some similar backstory elements at best.

So far I am really not feeling the antagonists in tmagp- I know we aren't very far in but so far I'm just kinda ehhh. The main characters/OIAR employees seem interesting and I'm excited to see where they go, but so far, antagonist-wise, we have Lena, sort of, but we don't have barely any info on her yet. We have ink5oul who again, not much info, they definitely have potential, but Needles?? Oh my goddd if I see one more post about uwu sad twink loser the new Michael needles? I will scream. Needles' statement/case did not stand out to me at all, it was kinda boring tbh. Then I come onto Tumblr and everyone loves him? Idk. Not a fan. And Mr Bonzo. To me, Mr Bonzo is not scary, relies wayyyyy too much on gore which ig is just something that isn't interesting or scary to me?? And idk is it bad that it feels a bit too derivative of Mr Blobby, who also isn't particularly scary, maybe a little unnerving? Also, I don't like to compare them tooooo much, but compared to early tma antagonists like Michael or Jane Prentiss, Idk. So far I'm a bit disappointed, I really hope my opinion will change tho!!

— One of my favorite canon facts about Bob is that he REALLY hates emoticons. He mentions it two times: one time in a question, where he refuses to read out loud the category name, that is just an emoticon, and instead just calls it "that. . . thing" or smth, and the other time is in the "Don't be afraid to express your emoticons" Headrush category, where he just straight up tells players to be cautious of people who use emoticons 😭

Either he had a terrible experience with someone who used emoticons. . . Or his old man brain just doesn't understand them. Or both idk.

— I don't know if it's just an Andy Poland thing or not (it's probably is, but still—), but I just really like the way he can change up his voices so quickly. My man can literally go from "uwu im so silly" type of voice to LITERALLY the most brutal and manliest voice imaginable in just a span of a few seconds, and I think that's INCREDIBLE.

If we talk about Bob specifically though, I really like how silly his voice sounds at the end of the round, when he says "bye-bye" or other similar to that lines. It just makes me giggle, okay,,

It's also pretty funny, since a few rounds later I got another Barney question ("Even Purple Dinosaurs Have to Die... Someday"), and Bob didn't sound really amused by it lol

— There are a lot of lines in the game, where Bob jokes/admits that he feels pretty lonely and/or isolated, which is very interesting, considering that he doesn't seem as a very introverted person or someone who doesn't go outside much.

I don't have any specific speculations on why he is like that, but I think (headcanon, I guess) that it's something that he grow up feeling like and, perhaps, still haven't grown out of it.

— In "None of the Smoke & All of the Cancer", Bob says that he finds smoking to be "sexy". It isn't very clear whether if he meant it as a joke or not, so. Eh.

— A lot of people said it way before me, but. . . This man has major dog vibes. Like, I can't pin down specific things that make me think like that. It's— It's just the overall vibe I get from him lol

— I'm pretty sure I've seen someone already make a post about it (I'm not sure though), buuuut it's pretty fascinating to me how little sexual interest Bob shows in women (compare to other hosts in the series, at least) and how little he cares for "mushy" stuff in general, valuing friendship/platonic bonds a lot more.

This probably could stem from what type of game Headrush is, since it's aimed for a younger audience - teens, who probably don't really care about love in that young age. But yeah, just an interesting thing to thinking about while in a shower.

— His relationship with Old Man is pretty weird, because he both shows extreme violence and, yet, somehow, some type of respect towards him? Like, there are moments were he shouts, yells and doesn't mind kicking Old Man for his annoying shenanigans, maybe even having a way easier time with it than other hosts. But then there are a few rare moments, where he actually doesn't mind Old Man at all and would even listen to his stories with a genuine interest.

Of course it's not something completely new to the series, but it is also makes me fairly curious, since I feel like this is the game where we get to see a lot of Old Man's personality and how he influences those around him (in the case of this game (99% of it) - Bob lol)

i know this is super late but if you're still open to asks for the fandom ask meme, 13 and 23?

Hmmm it's hard to say since I'm always focusing on grovyle/dusknoir/celebi stuff and I've already drawn Guildshipping as well. Actually, it's probably Darkrai/Cresselia. I always like the couple as a kid bc of their dynamic in the games and anime, about them not being evil/good, but counterparts that protect and need each other.

Inside the pmd universe, Darkrai is barely a character at all, I think he's the weakest narrative point in the entire game, and a good contender for most boring antagonist of the franchise (if only for how much of a downgrade he is compared to the rest of the Explorers games' plot), but there is a scene in Explorers of Spirit that shows a deeper bond between Darkrai and Cresselia, and a sort of betrayal between them, that catches my attention. Since there's nothing on the main game that contradicts that headcanon, I just run with it and adopt it for myself, we do love some friends to enemies dynamic here.

Basically, they could be so toxic yuri to me and i really hope i get to clean some sketches i did about them some time lol.

Also maybe revisit those Grovyle/Dusknoir/Darkrai toxic yaoi ideas bc they were really fun to work with lmao. Maybe even simply inserting darkrai into the future polycule and having them all want to kill him rfqegvqerq

My favourite character changes every day because I can never decide on whether I prefer Grovyle or Dusknoir lmao. They're both too good. But on the shipping side of things...

Funnily enough, I guess I went from being strictly a Dusknoir/Grovyle fan after se5 to becoming a fan of the polycule after some reflection. I didn't want to get frustrated by how much attention Grovyle/Celebi had despite Celebi's short time on-screen (and at first frustrating "tee hee im a girl,, im pink and have a crush on boy pokemon uwu" characterization) and become one of good ol' toxic 13 yo fujoshis who hated female characters for "being an obstacle" to the yaoi ship. So I tried to focus more on Celebi and I ended up liking her quite a lot once I tried to read more between lines and drew her more times! Especially since you can basically make her have any dynamic you want with Dusknoir. She can be very fun to write and draw! I just wish the writing in the game had given her more... well, writing.

And in the Adventure Time fandom ig i stopped liking Prismo/Scarab a lot after a while and just preferred Kheirosiphon/Scarab but i basically shipped Scarab wwith anyone so there''s not much difference xd

Anyway I asked my mom and apparently the house where my grandma grew up in had a very small kitchen so they didn’t have space for everything and had to prioritize other things over the oven which ig they didn’t use that much…I suppose my grandma continued doing that and my mom grew up seeing it and she continued doing it and now I’m the one seeing it so yeh! Tho I’ve lived in two latam countries so far and in both countries I’ve seen this so I assume it’s a cultural thing? Tbf the first apartment I move in when I moved to this country had a very small kitchen with only three cabinets so there wasn’t space at all so I think small kitchens are still a consistent thing? Now that I think about it idk if my dad does the same? He’s was raised in venezuela but his parents are spanish so he grew up with different customs idk if spanish people do the same…I never saw my dad touch the oven when I visited him and I never really opened it either so idk if he had soemthing in there either

I mean... tbh, I'm a little "why would you ask us, a Narnia blog, this" regarding this ask, since I'm not really a Riddlebat shipper :)) But the comparisons with Batjokes indeed seem to happen frequently, which doesn't really work if you look at it in detail. Joker and Riddler are distinctly different characters, especially in comics, and their dynamics with Bruce also heavily differ. But well, if you're a villain and obsessed with Batman... I guess the parallel is easy to draw.

When it comes to Riddlebat in The Batman (2022), I'm not really surprised by the uwu-ification of Bruce and Edward especially. This inevitably happens with this type of character; hell, it happens with most (white and even a little bit attractive) serial killers. For example, a Netflix show about Jeffrey Dahmer came out recently, and you can bet there's a fandom around it as well, despite everything. There's a segment of fandom that'll always find dark, obsessive characters attractive, and derive enjoyment from... well, not sanitizing them, but making them fluffy and cute and palatable, in a sense. Not sure if "I project on the other character in the ship and the thought of this horrible person being desperate and cute for me" is the draw, or if it's more "We're going to depict these two dark characters as what they lack in canon specifically"... or a combination, or something else entirely.

However, the latter is a phenomenon in most fandoms with darker ships, including Batjokes. It's not just Riddlebat. Fanwork tends to reflect what canon has the least of. That's how you get a lot of fluff or found family or happier fics in fandoms that have grim or tragic canon material (this is the case with Batfam-oriented works too). I personally don't begrudge fans who enjoy making or consuming lighter content for darker ships, since I understand what the draw is and the motivation behind it. I'm more of an enjoyer of the darker aspects of canon, and that's that-- I create that kind of content, and I know how to filter and navigate fandom to find what I like. There's only a problem if these fans don't make the distinction between "this is my personal headcanon and preference" and "this is canon characterization". If you unironically woobify the villain and argue they're misunderstood and actually they're so emotional and so hurt, etc. etc... then yeah, I get the frustration, Anon. At the end of the day, if you're going to ship villains who have canonically terrorized and killed people, you should be able to own it. If it makes you that uncomfortable to interact with a character this canonically dark, it's better to just move on to a different one, rather than justify their actions and rewrite the canon in your head to the point where that character isn't even recognizable anymore as themselves.

Yeah, the fish route is WEIRD but the rest of the game is fun!! I just love playing viddy games a lot, but I tend to go back to old ones I enjoyed. catching up on the side stories of Roses and Champagne, very slowly but surely.

one thing i hate that they do in R&C, and something i hate in these kinds of webtoons in general, is when they have the MC acknowledge how shitty & toxic their relationship with the ML is.

like it's less frustrating and mind-numbing for me of they just ignored it and acted stupidly in love, but it fr pisses me off when they have a character acknowledge it because i KNOW nothing is going to be done about it.

leewon acts all tough and huffy about his situationship with caesar, but not a damn thing is going to be done about it 💀 but i suppose in the case of R&C, leewon obviously can't leave this "relationship" as easily as he wants to—or maybe he could—idek if this counts as stockholm syndrome/typical behavior of trauma or if leewon is just annoying and stupid.

tbh, i don't even fully blame leewon. like obviously this wasn't mesnt to be a soft & uwu story, but damn, you can be toxic but less frustrating & more interesting. one of my "problematic/toxic" faves is Warehouse and that shit is an emotional rollercoaster that leaves you feeling empty and emotionally exhausted by the end, but it's so fucking good. i love it.

i feel kinda bad always being so harsh on leewon when i also lowkey feel so soft for caesar, who's the real asshole in all of this 😭 but ig that just goes to show how they successfully pulled off a "trgic backstory" on me even though i'm usually impervious to those kinds of things, specifically with characters like caesar.

every time i see caesar, i judt think of him as my baby boy. they really got me good 😔

anyways, i'm only on ep.57, so maybe–just maybe–by the time i catch up, i won't be bitching about this series anymore lmao

I saw someone on Twitter say that white trans women have a problem downplaying the struggles of trans men [which is true. While not all trans women do this BY FAR, I have seen plenty act like the only issues trans men face is... Maybe being misgendered & being treated like babies sometimes] & someone in the QRTs compared trans guys to TERFs... Like girl the call is coming from inside the house YOU'RE DOING WHAT OP SAID !!!

Like you could've easily been like "While this is an issue I don't think it's exclusive to white trans women, trans men/transmascs do the same to trans women/transfems of downplaying our respective issues & it really depends on who you're talking to. Yes some do downplay trans men, but there's also plenty who fight for our trans brothers too. Same for trans men, some downplay trans women, while plenty fight for us. Making a general statement like this only hurts everyone & doesn't really address either issue in the way it should be address" but no. Saying he's spouting terf rhetoric is the way to go ig ??

Maybe it's cause I'm not a trans girl so I can't see the transmisogyny the way they can, & I totally accept it if no the person replying is 100% right & OP was being hurtful, but as of now I genuinely don't see how anything they said was wrong.

Or maybe this is just me misreading what the second person said & they actually were either saying something different or were adding, which is possible. Verse drabbles: twin AU, part 1/?

Title: Enforced Ankle Care

Verse: Twin AU w/ @chibitantei (Naoto & Kazuki)

I was supposed to write a drabble for an icon thing but whoops, ig I wanted to write more for these gremlins. Here you go Liz uwu (the icon thing will appear today bc I am on a roll for Naoto toniiight)

“…I still cannot believe you just thought you’d be fine after you sprained your ankle.” The marginally older twin wasn’t fussing over the other in theory, in her eyes it was closer to making sure Kazuki wasn’t a dumbass and trying to walk right after the immediate pain on the ankle incident had faded away.

A reminder tor the future: never chase a criminal in a grassy path where there can be holes in the way and where you can trip if you can avoid that from happening. She sighed out of frustration and huffed on how at least the criminal was caught because they hadn’t assumed the other to throw them with a rock and cause them to trip. It had been really cathartic to see the bruise caused from him falling and arresting him right after from using physical force to an officer and suspicions of criminal actions.

Considering the current circumstances she’d probably get the question on her condition sooner or later, so she might just bite the bullet and ask a question neither of them wanted to really get.

“…Kazuki, are you sure you’re not needing more care on your leg? Basic First Aids is inevitable, but more than the fundamentals are likely to occur.”

“I’m positive on that. It isn’t that bad.” Naoto would’ve asked more on if it was wise to compare an ankle sprain to a worse injury like a bone fracture she had personally dealt with earlier that year but was interrupted by an officer from whichever PD had requested for the Shirogane-trademarked help. She didn’t even bother to remember that detail since in 24 hours they both would be back at the manor, trying to figure out how they’d micromanage a case while getting straight A’s from middle school exams.

“Hey, Shirogane – is everything OK there? The chase you had sounded and looked nasty.”

“We’re both fine. My brother merely needs an ice package for his leg and a possible health check-up if he thinks it is needed.” She looked at Kazuki and got the assumed answer of how it wasn’t a deadly injury.

“If you say so. Can you help him get to the station so the nurse at hand can check the ankle sprain you got? She can take a look at it while you’re double checking if we got all details right”. Naoto nodded and mused to Kazuki how those were the orders.

“Let’s get to it, Kazuki-san. Sooner we’re agreeing to their excessive documenting on events, the better chances are on us catching next train to Numazu Station.” With a resting bitch face, the other Shirogane leaned on the other’s shoulder and tried to limp towards the nearby building as quickly as possible. Naoto did her best to ignore the reluctance of her twin and how they both needed to play the part of professional male detective prodigies until this case was over.

Though, for now the biggest strike to both of their ego was that if not for the “cheap” tactics that guy would’ve gotten away and Kazuki would most likely complain how the ankle would be in the way of playing billiards to unwind from work against Yakushiji or her twin.

working on a comic since my goal this year is to get more experience doing them. I don't really get how people decide to divide pages for this kinda thing perhaps it's something you just figure out as you go. Regardless detective heizou will be on the case soon enough uwu I want to release the first chapter ideally early Feb but ig we'll see how it goes.
