The og gang is together and are all above the age of 21. Leon being silly and not knowing about social cues. Chris plays matchmaker & Claire is a jokester. Jill likes margaritas and Rebecca is the mom of the group. They are all friends and live happily ever after cause I said so.

NOTES: I am back from the dead, and I come bearing gifts. This was just something I wanted to write for Valentine's Day, and I don't even know how the idea came along the entire way. Here’s some nice fluffy stuff with a bit of added corniness, something new from me. Hope you all enjoy and like it! Comments, likes, and reblogs are greatly appreciated!
✰ ── 《 Navigation ⟡ Main Masterlist ⟡ AO3 》
February, supposedly the month when red and pink mesh together to signify the one thing that couldn’t be explained. Love. Romance. Companionship.
It was a silly thing really, something that Leon didn’t understand, mostly because to him, it couldn’t be real. That didn’t mean he wasn’t curious, that he always wondered what it would be like to be so attached to another person it felt like being two parts of one whole.
It was another full week of the month, the days passing by as quickly as they started. Another day, another patrol, that was what he knew as part of his routine. Heading toward his locker to grab his gear, he was surprised to see a small heart-shaped lollipop wrapped in a red bow. He raised a brow at the strange object, curious fingers reaching out to inspect it closer.
“What do you have there?”
His head turned to the side at the sound of your voice, more so feeling your breath on his neck as you peered over his shoulder. Holding up the red lollipop for you to study, you took it from his grasp, the very tips of your fingers barely touching his before you held the wrapped candy.
“Leon, do you even know what this is?”, your eyes held that same mischievous gleam it always did when you were with him, and simply gave you a shrug. “It’s a candy gram silly”
“What? Someone just put a lollipop in my locker?”, Leon didn’t get why someone would even bother putting something like this for him to find.
“It’s for Valentine’s Day, something that the precinct wanted to do to celebrate. If you get one of these, it means someone is your secret admirer”, the way you described the entire ploy was almost comical to him, and he only chuckled.
“So it’s like a crush type of thing?”
“Sort of. Did you even read the note?”, and from the way he looked like a deer in headlights you knew he didn’t. You motioned over to the small red note that was hidden underneath the piece of candy. Carefully, he went to unfold it and read over the words that were written in cursive black ink.
I can’t turn water into wine, but I’m hoping to turn you into mine.
You watched as Leon quickly became flustered at the funny pick-up line, rolling his eyes and trying to hide the subtle blush he got from reading the words over and over again.
“I don’t like this game”, Leon grumbled under his breath, trying to shake off his embarrassment and scratching the back of his neck awkwardly.
“Oh cmon, it’s supposed to be funny. But listen, if you don’t want your lollipop I’ll gladly take it”, you smirked as his eyes met yours, pink lips curling up to match your grin.
“What? You didn’t get any candy grams of your own so you have to steal mine?”, he unwrapped the lollipop, popping it into his mouth and humming as he approved the taste. Cherry, his favorite.
“For your information, I got three. I just munched on all of the candies already I wanted another”, you placed your hands on your hips, the uniform only accentuating the curvature of your figure that Leon tried his hardest not to notice.
“Really? You got notes too or were you too busy eating your lollipops you forgot to notice”, he was teasing you now, going into his locker to put on his tactical belt and wrapping it around his hips. It fit snugly on his body, the leather belt he wore underneath to hold up his cargo pants seemed to add to his slim figure. Not that you were paying attention either.
“I did, but didn’t pay too much attention. I got a nice one though, said something like My candy heart is all yours. Real cute stuff”, you leaned against the wall as you waited for Leon before going on patrol. He was one of the only good things working at the R.P.D. had to offer, and coincidentally it just helped that he was also your friend. Having known each other for a while now, being like this came naturally, remembering how easy it was to be with him when you two first clicked.
“Sounds corny”, he said with a shake of his head, closing the metallic door and gesturing the both of you to start walking out of the room and into the main hall.
“Yeah, you’d know everything about being corny wouldn’t you?”, you taunted him back as you walked through the halls of the precinct, keeping track of all the patrols you had on the board today.
“Yeah yeah, whatever. Are you coming on this patrol with me or what?”, he already knew the answer, didn’t have to so much as second guess to know that you’d be riding along with him.
“Of course I am. Who else will bother you with their favorite pop songs?”, you walked ahead of him, and his gaze went down your back to look at the handcuffs that jingled every time you took a step.
He definitely wasn’t looking at anything else.
-
It was a long day of work patrolling the city before Leon finally had some time to himself to relax. Thankfully, he didn’t have to work the overnight shift and could lounge at home to watch some shitty reality TV or whatever tickled his fancy. Of course, that was before he got a text message from you, ever the pest constantly wondering what he was up to. Not that he complained.
There’s a whole theme night going on at the local bar. Free shots at 10:30 pm. Bring your ass over here, and wear red!
Drinks? With you? That wasn’t anything out of the ordinary considering how familiar it felt to be around you, but he still couldn’t think of anything else he wanted to do for the night. So, he pretended like he didn’t want to be dragged out of his small apartment as he trudged his feet toward the shower to get dressed. He shouldn’t have cared so much about being presentable, usually, he never did. But for you, he was willing to try new things.
For the first time in probably ever, he’s forgone his usual color palette and took out a red button-down, rolling the sleeves up towards his forearms. Leon was always more fond of shades that reminded him of the sky, blues, greens, and white. Red was out of his comfort zone, but going out on Valentine’s Day night was enough to make that ball of anxiety tighten in his gut. Topping it all off with a bomber jacket, he left the keys to his jeep behind and took a cab instead, playing it safe if he ended up drinking something that would surely knock him off his feet.
He seemed to be counting down the minutes to the moment he walked into the bar. Scanning the area, he looked for any sight of you amongst the crowd, walking past several pairs of people lip-locking and downing shots in groups. The energy was electric, the music was lively, and as he continued to trek further into the bar that’s when he spotted you.
There you were, sporting a red deep-cut blouse and leather pants that were tight along your thighs. He caught the glossy red lipstick you put on for the occasion that only brightened your teeth as you laughed with those around you. And when you turned your head to find him standing there, he gulped down the pang he felt in his chest.
Yeah. He’s screwed.
“Finally, I’ve been waiting for you for so damn long. Good to know you listened to me for once”, you walked up to him, grabbed a hold of his wrist, and pulled him toward a corner of the bar where your other friends were sitting. Unless you cared to look for it, his pulse spiked when your fingers wrapped around his wrist. Maybe you felt it, maybe you didn’t, but that brief touch was cut short when Leon was brought to the table.
Most of the newfound gang was there, Chris and his sister Claire were there sharing a beer, while Rebecca was forcing Jill to be a bit more social. It was supposedly a normal night even though you were out of your uniform, forcing Leon to find a point on the wall to avoid peeking over in your direction. Chris kept him occupied, offering him a drink that he sipped to ease the nerves he felt, all while Claire teased him about wearing red instead of his usual navy. This wasn’t so bad, I’ll make it through the night, he thought to himself.
It only took a few drinks for everything to spiral out of control. The blame is to be put on tequila. It was always tequila, but thank god it was the weekend.
Just like you warned him, 10:30 pm rolled around and the bar burst into cheers as servers carried shot glasses filled with red liquid. Everyone at the table had one, and Leon watched as you downed the shot with ease, a wild grin on your face as you did. With your encouragement, and Claire’s taunting, he drank the shot and winced at the stinging of the liquid going down his throat. He hated taking shots, that you knew, but he’d do it so long as it made you happy.
This is why you leave the clear liquor to me and you stick to your beer. He remembered hearing you say that to him one night when you made him drink vodka, the raging hangover he got in the morning only further proved your point.
He’s lost count of the number of shots you consumed, splitting them between Jill and Claire, and an extra you forced Chris to take despite him sticking to his beer. Rebecca remained as the group chaperone, making sure nobody did anything too embarrassing tonight. Hearing a particular song that brightened your mood, you brought Claire towards the middle aisle where others seemed to follow you to dance in the small space.
Propping his elbow up against the wooden table, Leon leaned back to simply watch you move to the music. His whole body felt warm at the sight, seeing how you swayed your hips to the beat of the song and Claire did the same. As much as he didn’t want to admit it, his eyes ran up the stitching of your leather pants, over the deep v-line cut of your blouse, and again towards your face. Sure, you were attractive, he wasn’t blind. But what he was the most fond of was your smile, all cheery and wide to the point where the corners of your eyes crinkled.
He could see that look all the time and never get sick of it. The only thing he’d change was that he was the reason why you beamed like that.
“You’re doing it again”, Chris said out loud with a smirk, knocking Leon out of his little fantasy before meeting eye to eye again.
“I’m not doing anything”, he challenged in denial, Chris only chortled and shook his head.
“Unless you’re watching Claire dance, you know exactly what you’re doing”, the brunette matched his sister in humor, Leon exasperating in disbelief and took another sip of his beer. “You like her. You should do something about it”
“Chris…”
“C’mon, man. How much longer are you going to stand on the sidelines and just watch? Even I’m getting tired of the tension, it’s killing me”, ever the dramatic man, he wrapped a thick arm around Leon’s shoulder, bringing him in closer as if he were telling him a secret.
“You had a chance with the candy grams you realize that right? Sure, free candy but why not make it special?”
“Who says I didn’t do just that?”, the blonde said before it could be filtered out properly, sighing and downing the rest of his bottle.
“You’re joking. Seriously? She got like three of those things”, Chris’s brown eyes widened the slightest bit, not wanting to believe the truth.
“Does it look like I’m laughing right now?”, Leon chuckled incredulously at the realization that these feelings he’d been harboring for so long were starting to pour out of him the more he drank. “I don’t know how to talk to her. Besides, it doesn’t matter anyway, she’s not into me”
“Leon, you must be an idiot or something because she is into you. Who do you think gave you the candy gram?”, Chris muttered, probably not meaning to say it the way he did but it sounded like a confession.
Leon didn’t have time to ask for more details when you came back to the table on his side, an energetic Claire going towards Jill who was down three margaritas and growing sleepy. He could practically smell the perfume off of you, jasmine and soft vanilla, things that he found comfort in and sought after through his day-to-day.
“I think that’s enough dancing for me, I got dizzy”, you said, finishing the last bit of your watered-down drink and slamming the glass down on the table. From the way you were standing, your body almost leaned against Leon’s, ever inching closer toward him.
“Do you want to leave?”, Leon asked you, ever the concerned friend and partner despite the fact the alcohol was starting to get to him too.
“Nah, I’ll stay a little bit. Do you want to go?”, the way your eyes were hazy when you spoke to him brought that same twitch in his chest he usually ignored when he was around you.
“If you’re good, then I’m good. I’m not leaving without you”, he didn’t mean to say it in a different context outside of friendly, or maybe he did, but when he avoided a visceral reaction from you he figured he was in the clear.
“You got it boss”, you joked with him, but your hand lightly skimmed against his by accident, a shock running through you from the light touch. You didn’t meet his eye, instead, you felt the way his pinkie came closer to your own, discreetly curling around the digit.
It was a shy touch as if to gently test the boundaries of what was other than a cordial relationship. Leon started to grow anxious, thinking maybe he messed up, his mind beginning to spiral until you squeezed his finger back in silence. He tried not to make it obvious, but he looked over at you to see you smiling, and for that second he thought his small dream had come true.
“Another drink and then we’ll call it quits”, Chris’ voice popped the bubble that you were both in, but your hands didn’t move from where they were.
Yeah, one more drink couldn’t hurt, so long as you two remained like this for the rest of the night.
-
Leon regrets having that one last drink. The world around him was spinning, and his feet were lugging across the floor as if he was going to sink into the Earth any minute now. He nearly forgot that he wasn’t going home alone, that you were beside him, doing your best to support his body as you brought him over to your place like you had done a few times before.
Unlocking the door to your apartment and walking inside, Leon was hit with the same scent of jasmine and soft vanilla that he recognized as your own, faint layers of cinnamon engulfing him when you brought him over to your couch in a slump.
“I’m never letting you drink that much again”, your voice sounded almost distant, but it was comforting nonetheless. You walked away from him, your footsteps growing faint until you came back with a glass of water he graciously chugged.
“Wasn’t so bad, I can handle my liquor”, he slouched further into your couch, his head beginning to whirl from everything he drank.
“Leon, I had to carry you inside. You’re drunk”, you glanced at him with that same mischievousness you always had reserved just for him. Even if you had a better alcohol tolerance than he did, your pupils being dilated told him that you were in the same predicament
“Not complaining”, he was damn near mumbling now, his head pivoting to look at you fully. You were right there next to him, all dolled up in a way he hadn’t seen before. In the back of his mind, he imagined you did it just for him.
So pretty.
“You think so?”, your voice brought him out of his current haze, watching as he blinked once or twice before realizing he said his inner thoughts out loud.
“I-I…huh?”, Leon was stuttering now, looking towards the floor and growing embarrassed at the slip-up. You couldn’t help but giggle under your breath, and he prayed to God it wasn’t at him.
“Leon…I don’t know if you can tell but I’ve been trying to send you signals that I like you for months now. You’re a tough nut to crack”, you were speaking, but your words stopped filtering through his brain the moment you said the words ‘I like you’.
You like me?
“Yes, you cornball, I do”, you answered him anyway, catching him off guard at the response. At this rate, he’ll spill his deepest darkest secrets because he can’t tell the difference between what he’s thinking and what he’s saying. “The candy gram, that was me. Thought it might register in your head but it didn’t”
Leon looked like he had uncovered the biggest truth known to man. It was astonishing to witness, how he couldn’t process the thought that you were actually interested in him. You could see the gears starting to turn in his head, and once the revelation settled in his mind his lips were formed in a gentle smile.
“That was a really bad pick-up line”, Leon said, making you laugh even harder. Your hand made contact with his chest, patting against his body with every sound that slipped past you.
“And yours was any better?”, your hand didn’t move from where it sat on his chest, mindlessly caressing the material of his red button-down.
“Yeah, I think ‘my candy heart is all yours’ is one of my best works”, he was almost cocky when he talked, but his facial expression was anything short of dorky. You both looked like a bunch of love-drunk idiots waiting for one to say what the other wanted to hear.
“Hmm, that sounded like you. Is this you admitting that you gave me that candy gram?”, you were leaning on him, shifting so your body was closer against his. The tequila still running through your system heightened your senses, the natural scent of Leon’s cologne was enough to make your heart flutter.
“Something like that”, he grinned bashfully, blue eyes looking at you intensely. He took in every detail of your features he could get, moving some of your hair out of your face and curling it behind your ear. His hand didn’t move too far, resting his palm against your cheek and running his thumb against the warmth of your skin.
“Would it be bad to kiss you?”, he whispered his words to you, as if his feelings would only be safe in the four walls of this room.
“No, I’ve been waiting for you to ask me”, you moved so your chest was pressed against his, hands moving up towards his neck and caressing the hair at his nape.
Leon didn’t have to wait too long to feel your lips meshing with his, sighing in what he could only describe as pure satisfaction. A shiver rushed down his spine and broke off into the rest of his body, blood pulsing through his veins at rapid speed the more his heart pumped in his chest. He pressed your body against him, wrapping an arm around your waist and keeping his other hand on your cheek.
Leon felt drunk, both literally and figuratively off of you and everything that you were. Things made sense for the first time, having you like this here with him. It was all he wanted, all he needed, and he doesn’t think he’ll ever get enough. Against his wishes, he pulled away for air, staying close by to rest his forehead against yours.
“About damn time Kennedy”, you teased him again, but your expression was tender. You noticed how your red lipstick stained his lips, no doubt leaving barely any left on your mouth. “Red looks good on you”, you put a thumb against his lips, rubbing at the plush skin you just felt for the first time.
“Does this mean I get to ask you to be my Valentine?”, he looked so cute when he asked you, rolling your eyes at his question, but you found it endearing.
“You’re two hours too late, but I’ll happily be your Valentine anyway”, you gave him one more smooch on the lips, and the happiness on his face was damn near palpable. “But you owe me a better one next time, you hear me?”
Next time.
“Loud and clear. I’ll have a better pick-up line to use on you”
“If you start getting corny, I will leave you on the couch”, the playful threat didn’t worry Leon in the slightest, his smile getting wider with every passing second he spent with you.
“Awe come on, I meant what I said. My candy heart is all yours”, his nose nuzzled into your neck, kissing your soft ticklish skin and breathing you in, marking your scent into his memory.
This time around, he thinks he’ll thank the tequila instead. Perhaps Cupid is real, a little overdue, but he still got the job done in the end.

Be Realistic ( Leon x reader)
Short blurb because I'm in a mood - Yes based off of that Britney broski audio lmao Warnings: low self esteem reader, body issues ALSO I LOVE ASHLEY GUYS SO DW DW SHES MY BBG SHE JUST SEEMED APPROPRIATE TO USE IN THIS SCENARIO LMAO
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
Rebecca and you sat at the edge of the backyard, both of you sprawled out on the lawn chairs. Claire had thrown a summer pool party, deciding it'd be a smart idea to invite people from work. Ada and Claire were chatting among themselves, sipping away at their colorful drinks, Luis urging everyone to put on sunscreen, and Carlos, Jill, and Chris having a competition to see who could do the best cannonball. Among the partygoers was Ashley Graham, the owner of the house in which Claire was throwing the party.
"She's so gorgeous," Rebecca comments, her sunglasses protecting her brown doe eyes.
"I know." You added, the two of you ogling at Ashley's beauty. She wore a cute brown-colored two-piece, with a metal ring in the front that held the top together, which accentuated her complexion and made her appear like a Victoria's Secret model.
"Hey guys, have any of you seen Leon?" Ashley called out, holding the deflated pink dolphin in her hands.
His name made your stomach twist, and you swear you could've felt your heart pang. The way his name rolled off her tongue was so natural, almost melodic.
"Right here." Leon came out from behind the glass sliding doors. He was the only one still in his normal clothes, deciding he was too cool or some shit for the pool party.
The man walked his way along the perimeter of the pool to Ashley. His muscles showing as he carried the air pump to the girl.
"Dumbass, why did you bring it all the way out here?" Chris commented.
"Easy access." Came Leon's response.
"Thanks, Leon!" Ashley beamed, her pouty pink lips curling into a smile that even made your heart flutter. Leon stood close to her, handing his hand out for her to give him the floaty. She complied, and handed it over, their exchange making your eyes lose their gleam.
"My hero." Ashley was excited, her floaty finally being of use.
Rebecca noticed you from the corner of her eyes. She knew about your little huge crush on Leon. The girl watched as your face crept with sadness- dare she say- disappointment.
"Kind of funny how he's still in his normal clothes." She tries to distract you. "Typical Leon."
You looked at her and smiled, "I know. I was hoping to see him shirtless." The two of you giggled, letting out cackles, Ada and Claire looking your way to see what the commotion was about.
"Why don't you go ask him to take it off?" She teased, turning her body to look at you.
"Hmm, maybe." You said boldly, even though you knew you'd rather fall in the pool and drown than do that.
"Bet. You won't." She smirked, challenging you.
"Pftt I totally would." You played yourself up.
"Then go." Rebecca eyes you.
After being riled up by Rebecca, a burst of confidence shot threw you. It couldn't be that hard right? You and Leon bantered and flirted on missions before, so what difference would this make? Plus it was totally appropriate for you to tell him off about his weird pool attire or rather lack of it.
"Watch me Chambers." You told your best friend as you got up from the lawn chair. You were wearing a (top of your choice) that you brought a size too small to make your figure pop. The shorts that you wore were Rebbeca's basketball shorts that she had let you borrow last minute after you changed your mind about wearing a one-piece.
Feeling confident in your tight outfit you began to strut toward Leon and Ashley, the sun's beams hitting the floor making the cement beneath your feet warm. As you approached you caught a glimpse of yourself in the glass sliding doors. Immediately your confidence shrank.
How could you have been so delusional to wear this out? It looked nothing like the way you pictured it in your head. Your model like posture returned to that of a hunchback as you shamefully scurried past Leon and Ashley, walking along the whole edge of the pool, stopping by the coolers to grab two waters, and heading back to a frowning Rebecca.
Leon and Ashley to focused on judging Chris and Carlos' Cannonballs to notice you.
"What happened?" She ask as she noticed the shift in your demeanor.
"Nothing." You sighed handing her a water.
"(Y/n) we already have water." She pushes her sunglasses up to her head as she stares at you. You take a seat on the same lawn chair.
You whined. "Why didn't you tell me I looked like shit?" It was only loud enough for her to hear.
"What you don't though.." She reassures you as she places a hand on your back. "(Y/n) you look hot!"
You didn't believe it. Surely she was only saying this because as your best friend she was obligated to. Your mind flashed back to the image of you in the glass doors. Your hair was flat yet awfully frizzy at the same time, you stood like a toddler who barely knew how to walk, and your legs looked like they were overflowing in Rebecca's tiny shorts. To make things worse you were sure the chlorine from your previous dip had made your skin look all dry.
You looked around for the oversized shirt you came here in. When you found it you shielded your body from the eyes of the partygoers.
"(Y/n).." Rebecca looked concerned.
"I don't know why I even tried talking to him. I probably look like an idiot." You leaned on Rebecca's shoulder as you two blankly watched the Beefy Brazillian splash into the pool.
"Because you like him. And I'm pretty sure he likes you too." She giggled.
"No- he likes Ashley." You said defeated, your emotions coming out now that you'd made yourself vulnerable. You saw the way those two looked at each other. They had something you wish you had with Leon.
"I don't think so." She wraps her arm around your waist. Smirking when she notices Leon glance over at you two.
"I think I'm just gonna accept my Leon-less life." You said leaning into your friend for comfort. Your eyes occasionally glancing over at an out of place Leon as he shouts at Chris.
"What? You're just not gonna try?"
You sighed. "There's really no point Becca."
She scoffed, "(Y/n)- you're totally out of his league. You can get him if you wanted to."
"Becca!" You groaned, your inner teen always came out when hanging out with her. "I can't. Have you seen the way she looks? She can get him!" You laughed, deciding to find the humor in your failed attempts at love.
"Oh (Y/n) you can too!" Her short hair bounced as she shaked you.
You turned around your hand practically digging into 's shoulder as you stared at her dead in the eye. "Be realistic. Be so fucking for real." You shook her back, your voice that of a goblins.
The two of you laughed as you spewed out nonsensical noises.
The conversation then shifted to celebrity crushes, "You think I have a chance with Josh Hutcherson?" Rebecca lays down on the lawn chair.
"Hundred percent yes." You replied, "What about me and Nick cage?"
"I see that." Rebecca smirks.
"Wait. What about me and Da-" Before you could finish your sentence Leon's shadow loomed over you, causing both you and Rebecca to jump.
"What about you and who?" He asked as he took a seat on the lawn chair you were previously on.
Your heart fell to your ass. "Oh my god you scared me." You and Rebecca giggled.
"You're not going in the pool?" Leon asked, leaning back in the chair.
"You know we were about to ask you the same thing. What's up with the clothes Kennedy?" Rebecca raised an eyebrow, she then nudged your shoulder.
"Yeah, lose the shirt, Leon." You said on cue. A fire growing in your stomach.
"I will if you do." He hooked his hands under his grey shirt as he began to pull it off.
Scratch that. The fire in your stomach was now a full-on Volcano.

Leon Kennedy:
After having cleared the hallways of the Racoon City Police Department and coming face to face with some disgusting freaks of nature named Lickers, Leon thought he had seen it all. Honestly, he didn’t imagine there was anything new that could surprise him in this goddamn place until he made eye contact with you.
Well.. if you can call staring at the dangling eye hanging out of your socket “eye contact”.
He instinctively raised his gun, expecting to see you rise to your feet, stumble over to him and try to nom his neck like all the other undead he’d seen so far- but to his (pleasant) surprise, that didn’t happen. In some odd groan you spit out, which he assumed was your attempt at speech, you backed away from him. Arms raised as if to show you didn’t mean to cause him harm.
It was odd to say at the very least. He kept his aim marked at the dead center of your head, though he hesitated pulling the trigger now. Your right hand (which Leon noted had a nasty looking chunk taken out of it) drifted down to a bloodied ID badge hanging from your breast pocket.
Though it was hard to read, Leon squinted out the words “Assistant Secretary” in bolded letters at the top of your ID.
He looked back up at you, slowly lowering his gun as he noticed the almost.. human-like quality of fear in your eyes. He could’ve sworn he even saw your shoulders sag slightly with relief as he tucked his gun into his holster.
“Hey.. can you.. understand me?” Leon’s words paused at times as he debated internally if he was really trying to communicate with a dead person. He could feel his stomach sink slightly as you slowly nodded back, cautious that he’d still shoot.
“What the hell.. How are you even- no wait- you’re infected and you can still?- What??”
You watched as Leon’s brows furrowed and his expressions cycled through confusion, disbelief, intrigue and right back to absolute bewilderment. It was almost funny and you almost tried to smile at him- before remembering the fact that your jaw had gotten unhinged a while ago and it’d likely confuse the poor guy more.
After a very long and arduous time of trying to explain to the baby-faced police officer how exactly you got bit and how you locked yourself in this room and how even you didn’t know how you kept your humanity- it just ended up in Leon sitting on the floor, scratching his head.
“I really don’t understand what you’re trying to tell me. I’m sorry.” You grumbled out a brief noise of annoyance before just accepting it and sitting on the ground across from him.
There was an awkward silence between the two of you for a while before Leon spoke up.
“Hey look. I know you’re already bit and all but maybe we can find you some help? There’s a hospital in the city- there has to be someone who can fix.. uh.. whatever you’ve got going on here, right?” He even sounded unsure of the words he was saying, yet the caring smile etched onto his nervous features was enough to convince you that you should come with him.
Not particularly like you believed you could be cured, but more as in “This poor kind boy will get killed if someone’s not looking out for him.”
So you gave a polite nod, rummaging through what little supplies you saved in here before heading out of your sanctuary with Leon- glad you’d met someone so nice in this mess.
Claire Redfield:
Despite having been caught in the middle of a zombie outbreak and getting turned yourself, undead life was surprisingly calm. You had shuffled your way down into the sewers after getting bit, accepting your fate as you felt your consciousness slowly slip away as blood drained out of the bite on your leg- only to wake up a few hours later a lot paler and surprisingly awake.
Part of you was frustrated you had somehow miraculously lived through transforming into a zombie because of course you would be the unlucky schmuck who would stay sentient throughout something like that. Only your level of sheer bad luck would allow that.
It turned out being down here wasn’t too bad if you ignored the weird mutated masses of flesh in the water, the massive hulking figure of a presumably mutated man that would scream in agony every hour or so and the other rotting corpses surrounding you. Otherwise, it was nice.
You had honestly thought that you were going to live the rest of your undead life here. It’s not like being on the surface is any better at the moment- though you had to admit, it got boring really quickly.
That’s why when you heard a small repetitive bang of a pistol fire off- you couldn’t help but let your curiosity win. You peaked around a corner, just dark enough so whoever was firing couldn’t see you, to take a glance at whatever unlucky person slipped down here.
She couldn’t have been past her early twenties, you thought, her younger features and nervous look spoke volumes. Her eyes had a certain steely resolve to them though, which would’ve impressed you if she didn’t stare directly at you. Previously fascinating eyes now had your stomach drop as she raised her gun at you preparing to fire.
You scrambled away down the hall you came from, legs slightly slipping from the slimy layer on the floor that you really didn’t want to think about at the moment.
Claire had started giving chase after you, worried you were possibly another survivor that she had scared off with her reckless gun waving.
“H-Hey! Wait up!” She yelled out, following your shadow throughout the gross sewers.
You had run yourself into a dead end- panicking and turning around to see her approaching rapidly. Without a way to defend yourself, you simply put your arms in front of your face to shield it as you shut your eyes tightly- preparing to get shot.
Clacking sounds of boots hitting the wet floor filled your ears as Claire stopped just a few feet away from you. She huffed out in exhaustion, leaned over to catch her breath.
“I’m.. I’m sorry- jeez hold on. About.. About scaring you. I didn’t know there were other survivors down here. You alright?” She looked up at you, briefly scanning over your body.
She noted how you looked worse for wear (but then again, so did she) and the large, infected looking wound on your leg. Her face shifted into one of pity as she looked back up at your face.
“Oh.. Is.. Is that why you ran from me?” You nodded, slowly lowering your arms to gauge her expression. It’s funny, she looked a lot more sweet up close. Your eyes met hers and you almost felt better. She looked at you with such.. compassion, even though you were infected.
Claire felt an immense sense of pity overwhelm her. She must’ve scared the living daylights out of you upon chasing you down like a rabid animal. As her gaze met yours though, she realized how glossy your eyes looked- how pale your skin was. You were probably already dead considering how familiar you looked compared to other zombies she had seen.
“I don’t want to hurt you, okay? You seem like a nice.. person? Zombie? I’m not fully sure what to call you.” Her tone was very soft, almost like a gentle elder sister, it was soothing to hear after all the harsh groans and grumbles you’d been hearing from the other undead around you.
“I think that it’ll be beneficial for us to work together. I have a friend who’s a police officer who I’m trying to meet up with. Maybe we can all find a way to escape together and you could get some help at a hospital out of this town. Is that okay?”
It wasn’t like you really had a reason to say no and the way she kept her voice so polite and calm definitely swayed your choice. With a nervous step forward, you precariously nodded.
“Perfect. My name’s Claire. Claire Redfield. It’s nice to meet you.”
Jill Valentine:
Jill was getting pretty damned tired of this zombie shit. First at Arklay, now in Racoon City the day before she was supposed to move out of this hellhole. It was just starting to get ridiculous and if she still believed in a God, she would’ve thought they had it out for her.
As she turned a hard left, narrowly avoiding a zombie grasping and hobbling towards her- Jill entered the subway company’s office. Thankfully it was empty, Jill thought to herself as she pushed the door leading into the traffic control system’s room only to have the door get pushed right back into her face.
…
What the fuck??
Jill grabbed her knife from the sheath on her side and rammed the door open- fully expecting to have to fight hand to hand, only to meet your terrified gaze as you fell onto the floor.
She honestly couldn’t tell if you were infected or not- you looked like you’d been drained dry of all your blood, yet your expressions were so human. Hands raised, slightly shaking (Jill wasn’t sure if that was due to fear or the fact your right hand was hanging on by a few tendons of muscle.)
You mumbled out a shrill and raspy yelp, trying to communicate as best you could that somehow you were still conscious, even in this form.
Jill wasn’t exactly sure what to do with you, knuckles tensing and untensing around the handle of her knife. She almost felt guilt thinking about stabbing you now. Her body went taut as she saw you stumble up and head to the subway panel. You waved your hands, pointing back and forth at the subway map and its controls.
“You.. know how to work that?” Jill hesitated with her words, almost embarrassed that she was trying to communicate with.. a zombie as far as she could tell.
Well that was until you nodded very rapidly, as if trying to prove you had some worth.
So with a frustrated sigh, Jill said “Okay, I need to go to Fox Park. Figure it out.”
Jill watched you with interest as you flipped through the switches expertly, going through the path so quickly she had to assume you worked here before.. whatever happened to you. You figured it out so quickly and turned back to her, as if expecting her to allow you to follow her to wherever she was headed.
Part of her really didn’t want to bring back an infected to the subway but you had the biggest eyes and were practically pleading.
“No- you can’t. God just..” Bigger puppy dog eyes.
“NO. You’ll cause too much commotion! I can’t-”
“Hey Jill- you got that subway route finished?”
Your eyes instantly went to the radio buzzing from her shoulder and she made a mental note to punch Carlos when she got back.
“Yes.. Thanks to the help of a.. oddly friendly zombie.”
You could hear him cackle over the other side of the radio. “You’re joking- right?”
“I wish I was.” Jill sighed out and explained to Carlos that she actually met a nice zombie and spent about 10 minutes convincing him and the other U.B.C.S members to let you follow and that she swears she’ll keep an eye on you and please please please please let her keep you-
Mikhail begrudgingly agrees after her arguing that she should be able to keep you around and that you’ve proven yourself to be helpful- but is told that you’ll be staying with Carlos when you both return to not endanger the civilians and to truly prove yourself.
Jill didn’t know why, but she felt the need to protect you. Maybe it was some lingering savior complex or survivor's guilt but she ignored that for now and walked alongside you back to the subway station.
Carlos Oliveira
As Jill arrived with you in tow, Carlos did notice how surprisingly calm and patient you were with everyone. You clung onto Jill for a little while- being careful to not go too far into the train- in the off chance someone would see you and freak out.
While Carlos trusted Jill’s choice in trusting you, most of the other U.B.C.S members were.. not as happy with the platoon leader’s choice in allowing you to stay. Tyrell was very obvious about his lack of faith in your unwillingness to cannibalize them and informally ordered you to stick near Carlos.
Carlos didn’t mind to be honest. Though, it was a little perturbing to see the way your flesh loosely hung on in some places. He tried his best to be polite and not stare as it’d be “ungentlemanly” of him.
You served to be pretty helpful in the RPD, keeping an eye out for anything he might’ve missed (zombies or items.) You even took a few solid hits for him which may have left you a little more gory in some places over before- but Carlos just appreciated the gesture.
“So, tell me, how’d you end up like that?”
“…”
“Oh right. Can’t talk. Sorry.”
A simple nod or shake of your head was enough to satisfy any base questions he had for you– plus his quips about certain events like the locked doors kept the mood light and cheery.
It was honestly a lot of easy communication between you two- Carlos read you very well and normally a simple tug on his arm or small grunt would do the trick if he truly missed something.
Carlos did ask some weird things though-
“Can you like.. see outta the hanging eyeball?”
You didn’t really think about it before but now that you focused on it- you really couldn’t. With an experimental prod, Carlos watched in horror as you pushed it back into its socket to see that’d change anything. It didn’t but it was worth a shot.
He (somewhat disturbed, somewhat politely) asked you never do anything like that in front of him again.
Fair enough.
Chris Redfield
This entire mansion situation was completely overwhelming for Chris- everything was so out of place and nothing made sense. Grappling with the concept of zombies being a real thing, Umbrella Corp actually being tied to this goddamn place somehow and the Bravo Team being completely wiped out along with his other colleagues being God knows where was just getting too much to handle.
Maybe that's why he didn't even take a second glance at you when you rolled a flashlight next to him as he sat on the ground of the grimy hallway.
It took him a second to fully process what just happened- his eyes running over the slimy flesh of your body that looked rotten and gross. You just simply stared back at him, hollow eyes in hollow sockets waiting for a response.
“.. Hello?”
You waved back in response, watching as Chris’ face cringed as your bones cracked and popped from the movement.
“That's new. Most of your friends seem to not be interested in conversation, eh?”
Chris was pretty sure he was losing it- he knew he should be grabbing his gun and getting rid of this thing in front of him before it attacked instead of making conversation. Yet something felt different about this one.
You nodded your head slowly and made trepidatious steps towards Chris. Testing his willingness to let you near- he did move his hand near his knife, which you took as a warning and stepped back.
He looked down at the flashlight you rolled towards his side and palmed it. It was essentially a gift- and you didn't seem to want to harm him.
“Listen. I need help finding my friends. They're somewhere in this mansion. This place is just so confusing to get through- will you help me out?”
You seemed to hesitate for a second, feet lingering in place as if trying to see if it was a trap. Chris almost found it funny, the both of you unsure of the other and still needing help to get out of here in one piece.
You gave a weary nod to him before stepping closer and offering your hand to help him up.
Chris shuddered a little as he felt the bone through your frail, decaying flesh and pulled himself up with your help.
An odd duo you two made, but certainly two is better than one in this situation.

EMPLOYEE QUARTERS – 3:02 AM.
Who knows since when, the front door entered by the last squad is bolted shut, windows on the first and second floor barred. Inspection around the perimeter reports none of the side doors can be budged. Except one, secretly veiled away through a narrow, overgrown path only accessible from the backstreet.
An inconspicuous door can be found at the end of the passage, made of the same stone brick wall attached onto the thick mahogany door, vines enshrouding the exterior.
Presumably, this is the employee’s entrance. Much less glorious than the fountain driveway view where an imaginary doorman invites you into the residence by the ten-feet-tall double doors. This entry desperately needs weeding; the door is worn, rusted metal handles and weak hinges signal negligence in maintenance for years.
Chris, leading in first with his impromptu rescue squad of six, pushes down the copper handle, and lets it swing out. Wood squeaks slowly until the hinges fully extend, thudding serenely to a stop.
From within, a hollow void. Not a sound, nor a creak to be heard from the blackness of the echo chamber besides the six footsteps. A cold chill like a woman’s breath blows onto their necks from the outside, slowly swallowed by the thick odour of mildew and mould.
Someone rummages for a light switch, clicks it, and clicks it the other way again. Power’s out, of course. Chris presses on his earpiece, and just as he thought, communication to the outside is already fizzing into distortions. There will be no one from the outside to rescue them once they venture into the thick of this freak house.
They turn on the flashlight attachment on their rifles for convenience. It’s going to be difficult navigating through the dark, and vital for the unit to err on the side of caution. Who knows what ambushes Arias had conjured for an unwelcomed surprise, knowing his guarded nature.
“Agent Chambers. Do we have location?” Chris asks.
“I can’t track our exact location until the GPS is fixed. But I can tell you that the unit should be around south-east of the mansion according to their last known coordinates, which is approximately… that way.” Rebecca draws out an old-school compass from her pouch and points towards the left side of the hallway according to her device.
“Thank you, Chambers.” Chris states blankly. Rebecca taps her head down to acknowledge once. The air is damp with bitterness, only felt between them.
The front of the entrance invites them to a mudroom with a wide nook sweeping along the broads of the wall. The inner wood panel is enveloped by speckles of mould; more than half of the hangers are still occupied. Chris traces a thin sheet of dust along a puffer jacket.
“Captain, take a look at this.” A thick Hispanic accent gravels out. The figure behind Chris is almost as tall as himself. His face concealed but his personality undeniable focused and direct. Chris vaguely remembers the man’s name through a rushed introduction, Gabriel, sent by B.S.A.A.’s South American branch as a gesture of goodwill.
Gabriel points to the vague darkness behind himself. Chris turns away from the racks, directed into the lounge room around the corner. It is adorned with modest furniture: a few couches, a television, openly connected to the kitchen, and long dining table.
Above the table, there lies a bitten sandwich with splotches of green mould, mugs drank only halfway and meals abandoned before they were done. Leaving the uncut vegetables, dairy, raw beef, as they were for the inhabitation of fungi.
Everyone in the room right now is grateful for Rebecca’s last-minute idea for the masks to give them some coverage for the stench.
“November 19. Tch, all the food had expired five months ago. What a waste, tch.” This voice is deeper in timbre than Gabriel’s with a tendency to click his tongue at any inconvenience. He must be the other assigned unit, Miguel.
“That week was the first A-Virus attack in the world.” Rebecca comments solemnly. Can there be such a coincidence?
“Whatever they had to do, they left in a hurry.” Chris glances around the room once more. What business could they have to evacuate so suddenly?
“A-Are they going to be o-okay?” Nerves are getting a hold of the rookie; the flashlight circle from Johnny’s rifle is visibly shuddering. “What if those m-m-monsters got to them?”
“Can’t be since there’s no struggle. Like they’d blipped in time.” Mike suggests the possibility by recreating the events with his free hand, even uttering a fainted pooof! drifting into the silence for sound effect.
“Nothing had been in and out of this place for a week. Whoever’s left might be starving.” Unless all the employees had left way earlier. But there is an aching dread in Chris’ gut that fears this may not be the case. Just like the other MIA agents who are somewhere in this lodging. There must be more to this story.
“Search for any survivors in the area and stay in line of sight. Don’t ever split up.” Chris orders, looking directly into the darkness of the narrow hallway beyond.
“Yes, Captain!” Five voices bark in response.
- - -
It feels like they had walked for an eternity, through a series of sharp turns, with no visual signs of the end, only mould growing thicker and thicker the further they venture. It was the same portrait, same console table, decorated by the same damned tablecloth over and over again.
On top of the white laced cloth, there is always a baby, barely three months old.
It shook Rebecca in the beginning until she notices the infant is completely still. It’s only a doll. A very realistic one at that, dressed from head to toe in pink and frills.
After what seems like the tenth doll, the discomfort in her brews whenever Rebecca passes by. She can’t help but notice how glassy their eyes, how those irises and pupils look too damn realistic. Like real human eyes, staring. Like it can cry. Every time light hits those pearly beads, whatever light the darkness can spare anyway, Rebecca swears the doll is looking directly at her each time. She wonders if she had gone crazy.
Perhaps it was one of Arias’ secret hobbies… like Arias’ pegging fetish she unfortunately discovered in the depths of a gossip forum. Hey, it’s not her place to say what a billionaire can or can’t do for recreation if it isn’t harming anyone… besides his own crack, maybe.
That took her mind off the creepy temporarily. Nobody else seem to mind, or if they did, they didn’t say a thing. Chris in particular—his mind never left the objective.
“Anyone home? This is B.S.A.A. We’re looking for survivors. Any survivors? Survivors, please show yourself.” Chris announces their presence at every door that meets him along the corridor, bellowing out to make survivors known of their rescue.
But only the echo of himself returns his call, corridor after corridor, room after room, in the humble living quarters that is nothing more than a bunk bed and two desks. Not a soul nor a zombie in sight. But they haven’t given up yet. There is still plenty of the mansion unexplored.
The next door they encounter is different, standing out prominently against the rest with its steel surface, while the rest mahogany wood. And despite this whole area already zoned off from general access, a sinister sign on top warns that this place is off limits to even most employees.
The six of them look at each other and decide silently in unison to investigate inside.
LABORATORY – 3:17 AM
Chris is the first to enter the laboratory, stepping inside the darkness without hesitation to encourage his subordinates to follow suit without fear. Some sticky sensation is caught between their soles, leaving their every footstep. Mike notices first, and he aims his flashlight onto the ground.
Blood red pools, splattered across the bleached tiles in trails like spider lilies, painted across white coats of motionless bodies only several feet away from them… fifty of them. Beyond that, a daring splash of struggle across the mighty propane tank hulking over the centre of the laboratory.
Rebecca winces at the sight; her first time witnessing such a bloodshed. Chris notices, bringing a step forward to shield her from the sight.
“What the fuck happened here…” Chris growls. Before he can take another bloodied step, he hears someone making a retched groan.
It was Johnny, tightening his vocals to hold back a scream, but instead, it erupts into a high pitch shriek of fear instead.
The bodies react to the sound, starting to move. At first, only slight like the trick of an eye. Then, the torsos rise in isolation, head turning slow almost 180 degrees, eyes affixed on the intruders. Their skin ashen grey, veins and arteries pop out freshly, where the stench is the most putrid here.
All six soldiers ready their rifles. Avoiding big movements, slowing their limbs backwards to the way out. The zombie hoard of many dozens in front of them matches their pace, unsure whether friend or enemy.
Something falls. Slipping away from Rebecca’s back pocket, a metallic cylinder case—long and thin, that a ballpoint pen will fit perfectly inside. It crashes onto the floor, a light thud. But in the quiet room with nothing but hostile hisses and crackling of bones, the zombies pounce at the same time at the sign of confirmation.
Gunshots fire, without restraint, bullets whizzing across the room, taking aim. Shots pierce into the desaturated skin, but no blood manifests from those wounds. The water source that pumps into their hearts had dried up a long time ago. Even bullets hitting directly into the skull merely stuns them temporarily, and they rise back onto their feet in no time.
The unit is very effective and spares little ammunition for the unnecessary—but they are solely six humans in an army of undead. They can’t hold them off forever. If they are cornered, that’s it.
Rebecca, however, has her eyes set on something else instead of the massacre in front of her.
My case…. Where is my case! She thinks as her eyes dart around the ground in desperation, between legs and fallen bodies. Something shiny under a chair peeks out in the corner of her eye.
There it is! Despite every fibre of her gut opposing her, Rebecca advances further inside to retrieve it at all costs. She doesn’t dare to stray her eyes away from the container, fearing it will escape her again. Someone kicks it; the metal leaps and rolls near the lab console next to the large cylinder tank.
She makes her way over and tries to lay her rifle on top of the console. It slides due to its slanted surface, so she leans her rifle against the tank for support.
Some of Rebecca’s right palm brushes the metal sheet, and immediately, a stinging heat like a million thorns set her hand ablaze. She flings her arm away, winces, and notes the parts of skin that contacted the tank is patched red with small cysts forming.
The propane tank can easily fit 200 gallons inside. With closer observation, she can hear the flow of water bubbling, churning in its mechanism, pushing out steaming sounds. Rebecca notes that the tank is connected by ductwork.
“What’re you doing, Rebecca!?” Chris explodes, and Rebecca jolts in place, bringing her consciousness back to the present where she remembers they are amid a zombie attack.
She plants her entire body flat onto the ground, detecting the cylinder stuck under the console through a thin gap. The console isn’t secured to the floor, so Rebecca tries budging it to no avail. It’s too heavy.
Rebecca shoves her arm into the gap; her fingers slid in successfully, but it’s stuck on the protruding bone of her wrist. She outstretches her fingers, the tip of it almost reaching the roundness she is seeking. She just needs a bit more distance.
“Rebecca! Out, now!” She can hear Chris warn from afar. “This is an order!”
“One second!” Rebecca thrusts in a bit harder, and a bit more of her wrist enters at the cost of rough friction scratching her wrist bone. Her nail catches it, and she rolls it underneath the pads of her fingers. Now she just needs to lea…
……Wait. Wait, wait, wait. She can’t leave. Her wrist is jammed. Rebecca can’t take it out even if she uses her entire body weight to lean against the pull. Her face is still planted and vulnerable.
Danger is advancing ever the closer. She can hear it even if she can’t see it. The irregular beats of staggering footsteps increase in volume, snarls getting curious. It won’t be long before she is discovered. But what other choice does Rebecca have now?
As if a sign from above, dim light starts to creep under the table as it lifts, freeing her wrist. Rebecca grabs the case securely into her hand and pulls it back.
Right behind her is Chris, forearm muscles pulsing in tension as he hoists the entire console, slamming it face first onto the two zombies eyeing at them both. They tumble backwards and groans.
Chris’ face darkens with rage, grabbing Rebecca’s shoulder around his arm as if to caution her reckless behaviours, and commands: “You. With me. Now.”
Rebecca, simply glad that she is still alive, nods and lets Chris pull her up in one forceful motion. As soon as Rebecca’s weight is back on her feet, he pushes her along with both arms, propping the rifle under his right arm, tunnelling his vision to the exit. But zombies are visible from all four corners. They are surrounded.
Abruptly, a cold arm wraps Chris from behind, ensnaring the captain in place to serve him on a platter to its zombie friends. Chris squeezes the rifle closer to his sides, and with the strength of his entire triceps, thrust the blunt edge of his bump stock into his assaulter’s torso. He can hear bones cracking, weakening, enough to free Chris of its tight grasp.
With practised ease, Chris adjusts his finger swiftly to the trigger; other hand over the handle in under a full second and fires at the next target leaping his way.
Rebecca wants to help Chris too. She presses down an empty space on her back. She had left her rifle next to the tank still. And now, the HK416 is idly resting behind five limping enemies with no intentions of letting her pass by.
That rifle is practically gone as far as she knows, so she unholsters her back-up pistol, her trusty Samurai’s Edge, tailored to her own needs and got her through thick and thin.
Rebecca knows she isn’t as much of a good shot as Chris is, lacking in almost a decade of combat experience behind Chris, but she kept up a fair deal of gun training and hand to hand combat during her research years for emergency purposes. And now, those skills are coming in handy.
Her shots are careful, only decisive ones of enemies that come between her way to the exit. Always looking over her blind spots in wariness because Rebecca knows one bite from a zombie is all it needs to take her out. She can’t be messing around here.
A zombie leaps directly into Rebecca as she heads checks, baring its fangs and curling its squirming fingers. Too close for a shot, she raises her arms to a block, tossing them aside when the pale hands advance closer to her neck. The nails are sharp, clawing into Rebecca’s skin as she shoves them away. Rebecca front kicks the thing away, and while it stumbles, gave her the perfect opportunity to take out its head in a burst shot.
But no matter how many enemies the two fended off, the path becomes more and more obscured by zombie heads and limbs, leaving no room for breath besides defending their own.
Gunshots other than their own starts firing around them. The other four comrades are clearing the way while guarding the exits.
“Captain! Rebecca!” Mike cries out.
For a brief second, a window of opportunity surfaces, and their eyes catch sight of the clear line of exit between them and the zombies.
“Run! Just run!” Chris’ voice thunders over the gnarly crew of zombies.
But Rebecca didn’t need instructions for this one. They dash straight for the door, and when they passed, they didn’t stop either.
The others did a head start, already racing away; Chris and Rebecca eventually joining them at the end of the line, with Chris slamming the steel door in their enemies’ faces before he leaves. It will slow them briefly, but that won’t last forever.
The six of them sprint along the corridor, and a loud clang penetrates the air. Zombies had destroyed the entire metal door itself, following right behind, trying to overtake each other, despite the narrow width of the hallway that fits only two people side by side.
The hoard collides and tramples on each other, but their chase is relentless, showing no mercy until each and every one of their prey is devoured. Closing in distance, an inch at a time, but slowly and surely catching up to inevitable fatigued limbs of humans.
“W-We’re not going to make it, Ca-” Johnny, coming first in the sprint, sobs, but he isn’t allowed to slow down no matter even if his heavy backpack weighs him down, no matter how deep his leg sores. The sudden brake will trip everyone behind him, toppling his captain and colleagues together. And it will be all because of him. He can’t stop.
Chris can hear the stomping footsteps grow louder; he can feel it on the floor too, the wooden boards quaking in fury from withholding such strength and speed in the tight path. He turns his head, and the outreached arms of the zombies are within a few feet away from his own neck.
Chris had to think fast—no, don’t think. More time thinking means less action. They’re quickly approaching the end of the hallway several yards away, and beyond that darkness. It can be a dead end too, what then?
Till he hears a chime.
Tick, tick, tick.
He sees it. A grandfather clock propping up on the side of the wall, right before the cloud of darkness. Chris can use that.
First, it was Johnny who made it to the other side of the clock. Then Miguel, Gabriel. Then Rebecca. Then Mike. And when it was Chris turn, he spins his body 180 degrees, meeting the hoard eye to eye.
He claws all ten of his fingernails onto the intricate engravings into the heavy wood. With a heavy shove, pulls the entire seven feet tall clock sideways to barricade the corridor.
All can hear the break of the bell when it crashes and the mechanism within fails. The hourly melody starts playing abruptly in malfunction, failing its fundamental ability to read the current time. Only the crooked and solemn tone resonates throughout the hollow vicinity.
That won’t be enough. They can still crawl underneath, between and over the gaps of the wood. Chris readies aim between the gaps, waiting for the zombies to peek through.
But Chris can’t see any heads. Or any movement, matter of fact. They freeze at the call of the chimes, and after a few seconds, their bodies retreat. Over the gap, Chris can see zombies with their backs turned, returning into the darkness of the hallway once more like they were never there in the first place.
There is a moment of silence, first. A moment to catch their breath. But this moment doesn’t last when Chris storms towards Rebecca, grabbing her forearm, forcing her to take a backwards a step.
“What the fuck were you thinking? You coulda died!” Chris seethes with a face of pure rage; everyone clenches their fists in fear.
“C’mon now, Capt. Go easy on her.” Mike tries to stand between Chris and Rebecca, a valiant attempt to diffuse Chris’ temper, but is unsuccessful.
“No. There’s no need.” Rebecca assures him. This is something between her and her captain. Her own accountability she had decided to take on herself.
“Would you like to explain yourself?” Chris asks, his tone abrasive.
“It was important.” She tries to brush aside the issue. Rebecca can’t tell her about the metal case, not yet. He will be too protective about it.
Chris takes one big step to close the gap, she can feel the heat from his eyes scorching her.
“Chris! I need you to trust me on this!” Rebecca pleads, though it doesn’t provide the clarification Chris wanted at all.
“That’s Captain Redfield to you!” Chris roars, and all sounds turn still.
He pauses, immediately regretting his words and tone. Once again, Chris gazes directly into her eyes that displayed only sincerity. This isn’t like the open book personality Chris knows of her. Something is up. Something Rebecca doesn’t want to share. He can’t push her—what kind of person will that make him?
Only his final thought reaches her ears. “More important than your own life?”
The room turns silent. Rebecca’s answer says a lot without saying anything at all.
The grip tightens on her arm, and Rebecca flinches. This is when Chris sees the state of the arm he is grabbing—secondary burns, bruised wrist, and strips of fresh blood free-flowing from both arms.
“…Get her fixed up.” Chris releases the arm gently, so it doesn’t fall too hard, releasing out a heavy sigh that sounds older than his years.
“Roger, Captain.” Johnny lets down the backpack of supplies with relief.
“Anyone else injured?” Chris queries the group, significantly calmer since his reflection. He casts his eyes over everyone, deliberately avoiding Rebecca’s.
“I think I broke my foot.” Gabriel was running fine before, but after the adrenaline had died down, he begins to feel every pain on his leg. He now staggers and the injured foot is hovered slightly.
“Let me have a look.” Rebecca gets down onto her knees to examine the foot. She advises him to roll up his pant leg. The spot is swollen red and soft, and it flinches when touched. Rebecca asks him to move his ankle: he can’t.
“It’s a fracture. You might not be able to move your leg for a while.” Rebecca pats herself up. “Ice would be ideal here but nothing we can do now. There are some bandages in the first aid. That should help with the swelling.”
“Alrighty, I needa resupply anyway! Those zombies took quite a few mags.” Mike is already three magazines down in his front pouch.
Rebecca needs a resupply too; there should be spare rifle in there for emergencies. Her Samurai’s Edge is reliable, but she needs something stronger if she wants to survive the rest of this journey. She can’t risk turning back and aggravating the zombie hoard once more.
The fresh face unzips the backpack, reaching in. Initially, puzzled, then slowly morphs into the face of horror. His calm searching turns into frustrated shuffling, emptying out the contents of the bag one by one.
Lying on the ground are bags after bags of military rations, counting to fifty bags. After a while, he gives up. Everyone is fully aware now of his royal fuck up. Johnny had picked up the wrong backpack on his way in.
“Come on, rookie! You had one job!” Gabriel starts yelling, losing whatever composure he had just a moment ago.
“I’m sorry- I’m so sorry! I’m so sorry, sir!” repeats Johnny’s brittle apologies, fists trembling.
“Qué pinche pendejo eres… tch.” Miguel grumbles to himself, and as an act of self-comfort, massages his hand with each other and feeling the wedding ring on his hand.
“You motherfucker!” Gabriel tries to rise, and almost trips over his broken ankle when he finds it unsteady. Johnny rushes in to support him.
“Mind ya business!” Gabriel flails his arms at the poor child, before lowering himself down slowly through a strained grunt. “I’ve got a fucking broken leg here ‘cause of you! You shoulda be glad I can’t whoop your ass right now! Once this foot is working again, you’ll be sorry!”
“It’s not that bad, really…” Mike tries to console, but this time, it’s more a desperate attempt for self-reassurance.
“Stay out of this, American.” Gabriel snaps back.
“Enough. Both of you. We’ll find a way out of this.” Chris interrupts before things escalate too far.
“Tch. And what do you suggest, Captain?” Miguel scoffs.
There’s no point in changing what can’t be changed. They can only adapt to what they have not. Be it without supplies or ammo. There is always a way around, if it means taking things slow or conserving ammo for their future fights. However…
Chris peeks at Rebecca’s arm. Her skin is turning white from blood loss. She needs first aid, ASAP.
“Let’s look around. Maybe there are supplies.” Chris says.
“There better be. This leg’s not gonna fix itself.”
KITCHEN / LAUNDRY – 3:39 AM.
Johnny had offered to carry Gabriel, but he refused without sparing a glance at the rookie’s face. But he didn’t complain when Miguel haul him instead, all whilst announcing their passive aggression about incompetent American soldiers and how they can only trust each other.
Meanwhile, Chris is focused on getting problems solved than whining about them. There must be a weaponry, maybe medical supplies somewhere in this damn fancy house. If only he can figure out how this foreign layout works.
The end of the corridor spreads out into a large open space, giving them much needed room to explore and not bump into each other shoulder to shoulder. There is a kitchen if they continue straight, enough to fit an army of private chefs with a glass room of wine display proudly to the side.
And towards the right, there is a laundry room. Beside it, a door that hangs a sign: [STORAGE AREA]
Hopefully they will find what they need here.
STORAGE ROOM – 3:41 AM.
For a storage room, it is quite spacious. Cardboard boxes stack high to the ceiling around the room, labelled with its contained items: [CLEANING], [MEDICAL], [AMMUNITION]. They look around potential hiding spots for zombies: there is none. It seems like they are safe for now. And for that, the unit is relieved.
“Alright. Let’s get you fixed up.” Rebecca immediately starts rummaging through the medical drawer. Miguel carries and rests the injured onto a large cardboard box for his treatment, then finds himself in the ammunition box.
This detour is much welcomed by everyone. After restocking what they need, hope has returned—whatever they can afford in the present state of things—uncoiling the tension brewing inside each of the soldiers. Chris can even hear Mike’s good-humoured banter ripples a warm laugh through Gabriel and Miguel. And Johnny is chattering next to them.
Chris relaxes his guard too, finally, for the first time today. As captain, he is always expected to be one to straighten his subordinates. And he does. Sometimes even at the cost of having his emotions get to him. Like just now, with Rebecca.
Sometimes, what the team needs is not just a guy yelling at their faces, but rather someone with Mike’s charm, or Rebecca’s friendliness to light up the room and boost squad morale.
Which Chris appreciated them for—doing the things he can’t do as captain. As captain, he must always remain a respectful distance from his team. He is the most senior member of the squad and must act that way even when situations are dire.
That got him thinking about his old team, still nowhere to be found, where their long history of acquaintance allows the lines of authority to blur. Many of those missions with them are often exchanged with laughs…
Chris bumps his arm onto a table beside him. Atop lays a vintage typewriter, a piece of paper is stuck to it.
It has been an unspoken protocol between S.T.A.R.S to document their adventures on the go, in case an accident occurs, so their stories are remembered and not forgotten. That ritual followed Chris and his team into B.S.A.A. He picks up the note; the ink is still very faintly lukewarm.
To whoever is reading this,
There is something really creepy about this mansion. It’s just too dang quiet. Where on earth is everyone? I know that Arias should be on a plane to a different continent now, so nobody’s home but—
“…Ch-.” A voice can be heard in the air while he reads; he pushes the sound out to focus.
…But I feel a chill down my back. If you’re in this room now, ge—
A heavy hand slams onto the table, winces, then goes back on the table again. The entire forearm is bandaged, and the palm is wrapped in some translucent cling film.
“Chris! I’m talking to you.” Rebecca taps her foot impatiently.
“And I heard you. You don’t have to say my name twice.” Chris looks at her for a second and brings his eyes down back to paper, reading between the blurred lines. “I saw you were tending to Gabriel when you were in a much worse state. You should prioritise yourself first.”
“I actually called you three times!” Rebecca clicks her tongue, crossing her arms now.
Chris shrugs. Rebecca continues when she realises he isn’t going to say anything else.
“I can take care of myself, don’t worry, captain.” She utters the word captain with much disdain that it irks his eyebrow slightly.
“Suit yourself.” Chris pretends to read, but Rebecca is still staring intently, so he asks: “How can I help you, Chambers?”
She picks the paper out of his hands, and declares: “Maybe we should address the elephant in the room.”
“There is nothing to discuss.” Chrisfolds his arms to match hers.
“Clearly there is. Or you wouldn’t be ignoring me.” Rebecca’s voice comes out a little louder than it should, sounding throughout the room as everyone peeks at the duo. Chris doesn’t need an audience for their petty drama, lest appearing unprofessional to his own personnel.
“Let’s talk outside.”
The two promptly walk to the exit, with Rebecca behind Chris so he can’t escape. They leave the room, facing the wet laundry, as Chris closes the door behind him to avoid prying ears.
“Alright, talk then.” He begins, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. For a man like Chris, he can be cold when he is upset. Even among his close ones. But there is still a bit of warmth in his voice, a bit of unspoken openness to listen. But for Chris to be convinced, it is still highly dependent on what Rebecca says next.
“Hey- I just want to say.” All of a sudden not knowing where to start, or when. After trying to get Chris to make peace with her all day, she finally has his attention. But when the moment comes, Rebecca is lost for words. Stuck behind her throat and tongue ice frozen.
“I know you don’t want me here. Putting my life in danger.” says Rebecca quietly.
“Like I said, you are free to do what you want.” Chris deadpans. “…And you did. What’s done is done.”
“Hey, don’t give me that. C’mon, Chris. You know it would be better if I was here. I know this virus better than you do. I’ve been researching this for months, and- and- you know my radio won’t reach you in here with the signal jammed.”
“Everything beyond these doors are unknown territory. Did you forget five of our best agents went MIA here?” Chris releases one long, arduous breath.
Rebecca is silent. She hasn’t forgotten, will never forget if the agents are dead—but doing anything is better than doing nothing. She will rather put her life at risk than the waiting game just to be told her friends are dead. “Yes. I know that. But you need me here.”
“And what I need most, is for you to be safe.” Chris places both hands firmly on her shoulders, sighs, and lets go.
Chris admits; there is truth in her words. The virus is alive, a living subject. They must tread carefully. And who else knows about this virus better than Rebecca? She may be the means of life or death.
“We are still a team. We watch each other’s back. We trust each other.” Rebecca hesitates for a moment, then continues. “…Just like S.T.A.R.S, the good old days.”
Chris tries to push away the betrayal from the back of his mind and focus only on the good parts of the memories. But it didn’t work. The clockwork of life kept running, wondering if the same fate will happen to him once more.
Trust? How long has Chris trusted someone? Put his life on the line of other people’s desires, capabilities? How many people have died trying? When has that ever worked out for Chris? He knows that the only person he can rely on saving himself and others is his own self.
Abruptly, his thought process is interrupted by cheers cascading from the other side of the door. Chris opens the door, and Rebecca’s curiosity peeks inside.
The crowd is cheering at Miguel, passing around bottled water around the circle. In this house trapped with years’ worth of heat, rotted smell preserved in humidity, water is a found treasure to these men. Especially after the laborious sprint earlier, they can feel half of their bodies’ liquid lost, throat turning dry and lips crackling.
Rebecca recalls her discovery about the water supply. She remembers warning the crew about this. Yet through the corner of her eyes, she sees Gabriel cracking open the bottle seal, shimmying his mask out the way, his lips touching the lip of the plastic bottle.
“DON’T DRINK THAT!” She yelps, as loud as she can possibly muster.
And everything happened all at once.
STORAGE ROOM – 3:57 AM
Gas starts to sizzle into the room through tightened air pressure, escaping rapidly into the space. Engulfed in smoke, Rebecca clutches onto her mask, hoping that the cheap material will be sufficient. At the minimum providing a bit of resistance before they remove themselves from the smoke-filled room.
“Squad! Make your way to the exit!” Chris orders.
Chris and Rebecca guide the team out one by one. Individuals start shuffling out of the mist from within. Johnny comes through first, then Mike, Miguel, and Johnny.
“Captain!” Johnny cries, pointing a wobbly finger into the puffs of smoke. “He’s still…”
Faintly from the haze, a figure manifests, sprawling on the floor. It grunts in fear, choking and coughing with arms extended.
“I… I can’t move! My… my leg…” His facial features slowly uncover from the smoke, and there is Gabriel desperately dragging along his broken foot towards the door. The injured had completely slipped Chris’ mind. He needs to get him out of there, now.
Chris pushes himself inside, but Mike grabs him before his foot makes its way in. Mike utters in grave realisation: “He’s unmasked.”
“I swear to god I’m alright! I swear on my life!” Gabriel cries even louder, swallowing a lump of smoke into his chest, and he chokes. “I didn’t drink the water!”
“Captain… what do we do?” asks Miguel, voice softening in desperation. He knows the answer to that question, but Miguel refutes that option, denying it like a child in the face of loss. “Captain! What do I do?”
Chris does not say a thing, nor it is his place. This farewell is reserved between him and his friend. Then afterwards, Chris must do what must be done.
“Miguel… ¡No me dejes aquí!” They can barely hear Gabriel’s sobs over the continuous hissing, louder through time, breaking free of the closed room to contaminate the air outside too.
That is, until Rebecca cuts in: “It’s not too late. The gas is useless by itself, as long as he didn’t drink the water. He’s going to be fine. But we shouldn’t risk it… Just in case.”
“Fuck this, I’m not leaving him there.” Miguel sprints past Chris and Mike into the white without looking back. They try to grab hold of him before he does anything reckless, but Miguel flings them away. “I’m not leaving him behind. We grew up in the same town. Enlisted together. Same squad for years. I’m not letting him go now.”
Miguel searches inside the fog, and finding the lightly conscioused Gabriel quivering with his chest on the floor. Miguel hauls Gabriel’s body weight onto his own.
“We’re getting out of here alive, Gabito.” Miguel swings an arm around his friend’s shoulder, pulling Gabriel’s feeble foot upwards and lets his torso limp over himself.
“Tch c’mon, haven’t we been through everything already? I’ve seen you worse when you broke your arm and ribs.”
“I remember that. You carried me all the way back to camp just like this.” Gabriel speaks with a mellow voice in reminiscence. Miguel can hear something clicking its throat, sinisterly gargling the air. Miguel pauses to look around, there is no other presence. Right, he already checked the room. It’s safe. So, he continues forward.
“And we will get through this one too. Your abuelita will be heartbroken if you’re gone. I can’t do that to her.” They are approaching closer to the ray of light at the end of the door. Gabriel falls to his side.
“Hang on, man! I’ll get you out of here. You can trus—”
Rebecca hears a clack, the sound she recognises to be bones snapping in half. She can’t see where Gabriel and Miguel are, with the fog blurring her sight. The vague silhouettes that can be seen before are now gone.
She leans in, peeking into fuzziness, but Chris’ arm moves in front of her, blocking her from getting any closer. He, too, is cautious of the sound.
“What’s taking them so long?” Mike calls out their names but there is no response from the other end. “That’s it, I’m heading in.”
“Mike, wait!” cries Chris.
Mike steps inside, warily inspecting. When he lifts the other foot, he almost trips. “What the—?” He shifts his leg around some more.
“I can’t move my foot!!” Mike’s shrieks are like little girl squeals throwing a tantrum. He wiggles back and forth to readjust balance with all his might. “Eek! Some slimy shit’s holding me down!!”
“Get it off me, get it off me!” The three of them attempt to pull Mike out and the foot lifts into the air. As if noticing the traction, the mist yanks Mike’s leg backwards. “Fuck shit fuck fuck!! Lord have mercy!!”
What is this power? How can it be this strong? There shouldn’t be anyone else in the room, Chris had already done all the check spots. The only people still in the room are just Gabriel and Miguel. What happened to the two of them anyway?
Mike had enough; he pulls out his handgun and shoots at the general direction of the force. The strength loosens, and they can see the whole foot now and the mysterious force dragging him back.
A bloody hand fastens around Mike’s ankle, fingers tightening sturdily around the soft skin. Another hand appears abruptly and secures right above the other hand. It has a different complexion, a silver coated wedding band over its ring finger. This is Miguel’s ring.
Something can be heard from within the fog, distinctly Gabriel’s voice.
“Mike… we’re having a party in here. Come join us!” The cheerful tone sends goosebumps rushing down Mike’s back.
“Shit! It can talk!?” Chris tries to pull the leg again, but it’s planted to the floor.
“It’s okay, Mike. Let’s have a lot of fun!” This doesn’t even sound like Miguel, but it is his voice.
There’s a bullet hole through its palm from Mike’s shot. It bleeds all over the other hand, still able to grab persistently despite suffering from such a wound.
“No, no, no! This… This isn’t supposed to happen!!” It shouldn’t be possible for the virus to activate only on gas alone, Rebecca was confident about this. It was one of the key implementations of this virus for its remote activation.
Yet the impossible is right there in front of her, the evidence of the vein-popping, skin-crackling bloody hand lay bare contradicting her every hypothesis.
Mike’s foot stumble further backwards, his hamstring swallowed now. The shrieks are turning into despair, losing his childish tone, becoming more pleading, demanding.
Chris draws his dagger from his holster and stabs straight down into the mist, briefly missing Mike’s foot and directly into both palms, skewering the two hands together. Both hands let go simultaneously, withdrawing into the white once more.
“Now!” Chris orders, and the four of them backs away from the entrance, with Chris slamming the door shut behind. He secures the door with his entire back, feeling the full force of banging. He growls out: “Barricade!”
Rebecca, Mike and Johnny shuffle around, dragging a table, cabinets, chairs—anything heavy to prop in front of the door. Chris stuffs the tiny door gap with vintage draperies to confine the poisonous air, taken directly from the curtain racks itself.
Whatever that is left of Gabriel and Miguel can still be heard snarling, clicking their throats, gargling air beyond the closed door. Occasionally muttering to themselves, pleading the rest on the other side to open the door ever so slightly with their gentle persuasion.
LAUNDRY – 4:06 AM
“I thought I was dead meat for sure.” Mike leans against the other side of the wall, checking his own foot. There is a purple bruise on his skin, but his ankle moves freely. All his joints are fine; nothing is twisted. “Thanks, you guys.”
Rebecca and Chris nods.
“So we lost two, huh…” Mike dry laughs at the situation, even when there is nothing funny going on right now.
There is another moment of silence as each of them thinks about their own fate in this mansion. With their numbers dropped by a third, their chance of survival is looking rather slim.
“Hey, if it helps, I never like those two anyway.” Mike tries to break the suffocating atmosphere with some humour, before a voice that had been quiet for a while suddenly speaks up.
“Gabriel and Miguel wouldn’t have died if he didn’t get false info.” utters Johnny.
“You, rookie?” Mike stops to eye Johnny up and down, who is currently sitting right next to him, with his hands and definitely his ass clenched too. “Defending the guys who yelled at your face?”
“It was ‘cause of my own fuck-up.” Johnny clenches his own fist, guilt dripping through every word. “They shouldn’t have died regardless.”
“In this line of work, people die.” Chris states. It’s a matter of fact. They all knew what they signed up for. “Don’t take it personally.”
“Even so… If they did know about the gas, they would have been alive. At least, Miguel would have been!” Johnny stares directly at Rebecca for responsibility.
When confronted directly, Rebecca hesitates, she knows the blood is in her hands. “This… This is also news to me too… I have read the reports multiple times, there is no mention that A-Virus is capable of such transmission. It doesn’t match up to the research.”
“What if the report was a plant?” Johnny asks. “Arias sent fake data to your email.”
“It can’t be. Each transaction requires a single use security token to grant access to my private cloud storage. This token can only be authenticated via fingerprint recognition. So Leon must have sent the files himself.” Rebecca clarifies. In her mind, her system is impenetrable, mostly…
“And what if he’s dead? Or held hostage? Arias could force his thumb to send whatever he wants.”
Rebecca pauses, then she speaks: “That is a possibility.”
“Clearly, you have not thought of everything.” Johnny leans back.
If Johnny’s theories are right... Rebecca instinctually pats down her back pocket, feeling the cylinder case she tried so hard to save in the laboratory room... then this would have been a waste.
“You—” Chris grabs Johnny on the arm in an uncomfortable angle, squeezing it hard for a lesson. “Enough, kid. I don’t need you going around insulting the best B.O.W. tech I know. She’s doing everything she can. So zip it, focus on your own shit, and follow my orders as I tell you. And I’m ordering you to be quiet.”
“Fine, fine. I got it.” Johnny shrugs off Chris’ hand and rises. “Where’s that same energy to the doctor, huh?” He walks towards a pillar far from the three of them but still within sight.
Chris considered raising his voice, but he drops the idea. Instead, he plops down onto the ground next to Rebecca, patting on her head like he would to his own sister. “Never mind that guy. He’ll lose that attitude real soon. I remember I used to be the same rookie who would talk back to my captain too. Got my ass whooped. Never did that again. At least, not in front of their faces. Maybe I’m going too easy on these fresh ones, who knows…”
A rare moment of gratitude flashes across Rebecca’s eyes; Chris simply dismisses it with a wave. It’s his job to ensure they focus on the present of objective. Not their past, nor their failures. Moreover, B.O.W. techs are more valuable than brawny field soldiers like himself by the hundreds.
Rebecca reaches for something in her bag, and a paper floats to the floor, crumpled from action.
“It’s the letter I took from you.” She should give this back.
He refuses, instead says: “Let’s read it together.”
Trust is rebuilding again, brick by brick.
Chris whistles at the other two and Mike carries himself towards them. Johnny does not move, hand on cheek looking at everything but them even if he did hear the captain. Mike and Rebecca exchange a ‘just let him be’ glance with Chris.
So, Chris unfolds the paper, and reads it out loud, from the part he left off in the storage room.
Get out of there this instant. We think the storage room is booby trapped. I thought the gas was going to turn all of us, but I feel fine. Carlos and Jill though…are off. I accidentally brushed against them, and they felt… cold. When I try talking to them, they seem distracted for a split second. Far off.
Or it could be a false alarm. We don’t know yet. We decided to split into teams for efficiency: Jill and Ada to retrieve the sample while Leon, Carlos shall investigate the pipes. And for me… we’ll see. Once we’re done, we will meet up and get the fuck out of here. I trust Rebecca and the team; we would get through this. We always find a way.
If this is you reading, Arias, get shit on, sucker! The sample will be ours, good riddance to your little game! Justice prevails once more!
There is a hand drawn winky face next to it. Chris and Rebecca scoffs, that optimistic trusting behaviour. So typical of you. And oh, so wrong you were about everything.
“So, the lab, huh? That’s the one by the corridor?” asks Mike.
“Most likely. I know three people was last seen on the ground floor, the others on the top floor. And it’s likely Carlos and Jill to be turned first, according to Leon.” answers Rebecca.
“Could they have split up to divide numbers so they can infect them?” asks Chris.
“That explains why they went MIA. Either infected, or worse, dead.” Mike comments, but none of this is looking too favourable on their side right now.
Chris shakes his head. “I don’t think it’ll be so easy. I know these guys. They’re not the kind to give up without a fight. And these guys are some great fighters.”
Rebecca nods reluctantly. “True—That is, if they know a zombie is among them. These zombies can fucking talk. They wouldn’t have seen it coming. And from what we saw today, they can blend in and entice with their human speech. We have to be very careful.”
What’s to say one of them is not between them now? But she seals her tongue from making such bold statement. Rebecca eyes over a suspicious glance at everyone, including Johnny, checking for any irregularities. None she can notice from a fair distance away.
“But how does the infection work then? Was Gabriel bitten?” Mike asks.
“No, it was only a fracture. The bite marks would be distinct. He only made contact with the ga—” Rebecca pauses.
Her brain starts chugging, like a cogwheel in a complicated mechanism with fragments of facts. Neither of the boys dare to interrupt Rebecca from her thoughts. When she is in the zone, nothing anyone say will get into her head. And it clicks.
“Arias, you sneaky bastard…” She grins. She would kiss her brain right now if she could.
Chris and Mike look at each other in confusion.
“The poisoned water is all around us. It’s the air.” Rebecca elaborates, smiling wide the entire time after her newfound discovery.
“The air?” Chris and Mike gasps in unison.
“Don’t you think it’s strange that when you stepped inside the house, it’s musty?” She pauses to let the boys think. “But the outside, it’s cool.”
“Well, there must have been residual heat from the day still trapped in the house.” Mike comments. It seems abandoned for a long time after all.
“What residual heat during April? It should still be dry season in Querétaro. It’s the humidity! Arias had been pumping up the humidity in the house, that’s why mould is everywhere.”
“And how does that tie to—” Halfway through Mike’s sentence, he snaps his fingers. “Oh.”
“The water supply in the humidifier, of course.” Chris grins, nodding his head in approval.
“The bottled water in the storage is bait. It never had anything to do with the virus.” Rebecca points at Chris and does an a-ha! sound. “The tank in the laboratory is actually just a large-scale humidifier, sending the virus through water vapours in the air. All around us. That’s what those employees were guarding.”
“Gabriel was the only one who took off his mask.” Mike hits his palm with a fist. “And Miguel was infected by being bitten. Then why was Carlos and Jill the ones infected?”
“They had all been infected since the beginning.” Rebecca says, which is the scariest part about this whole operation. What would have happened if Rebecca never suggested the masks?
She continues: “How it activates, I have no clue. The speed of activation drastically varies from person to person so far. The A-Virus attacks always happen either immediately, or up to an hour. I wonder if it’s individual resistance to the virus.”
“Regardless! That’s a major discovery!” Mike launches himself up in joy. “My lord, you’re a genius, Rebecca!”
“As long as we keep our masks on, we should be fine.” Rebecca states, for real this time.
“I’ll let Johnny know the good news.” Mike scoots off. It’s just Rebecca and Chris alone now.
Rebecca takes in a nervous gulp now they are alone. She had forgotten to tell him the most important thing. Rebecca owes him that at least. “Hey, Chris… About the metal case…”
“It’s okay, Becca.” Chris shakes his head understandingly. “You don’t have to tell me anything. Only if you want to. Only when you’re ready. Because we’re going to see this to the end.”
“The both of us?” Rebecca suggests with much confidence.
“With everyone. I’ll make sure we all get back home.” Chris reassures, and this time, he can see clearly what lies at the end of the rainbow.
But what they didn’t know, is that during their heartfelt revelation, Johnny had let a tear fall in private, lifting his mask ever so slightly to wipe the wateriness from his cheek.

Haluuu kapwa noypi, I saw your fics about Leon and it's so dang good and amazing, enjoy reading.
I have a request, can you make a Leon x f! Fox girl reader? Were Leon is just pretty jealous when chris is giving y/n head pats and tail ruffling and Leon done the same but more clingy/cutely (〃゚3゚〃)
(BB Leon deserve a whulesum one tuuu)
Aww <3 This is so cute!! How could I not make this ?? and thank you for enjoying my works too ><
You were a lot different from humans and zombies... You have fluffy ears and a huge tail, but everyone seemed to enjoy your company. Despite your unique appearance, you were always kind and friendly towards others, which made people appreciate your presence even more. Your fluffy ears and huge tail only added to your charm and made you stand out in a good way. Leon may or may not have had the urge to pet you, but he didn't have the guts to do it.
And there he can see you getting head pats from none other than Chris Redfield. Leon watched from a distance, feeling a twinge of jealousy as Chris gave you head pats. He knew he had missed his chance to make a move. “I could do this forever, y/n,” he laughed, continuing to touch your head. You let out a small giggle. Chris started praising you after you healed him after his mission, and that's when he asked you if he could give you some head pats. You agreed because of how much you love receiving head pats—your tail starts to wag side to side. You felt his hand pull away from your head, making you pout and Chris laugh. “Ah, I need to go. Claire might be looking for me.” He smiled at you before walking away.
“You… Alright?”
Your ears standing up after hearing a voice, you turn around and see Leon standing in front of you. There was a big height difference between the both of you He looked down at you with a smile on his face and said, "Hey there, little one. How's it going?" he said, teasing you. You felt your cheeks become hot. Putting your face onto his chest, he then let out a laugh. You felt his hand now resting on top of your head and began to slowly pat it. You slowly start to purr. It was a comforting gesture that made you feel safe and loved. You closed your eyes and let out a contented sigh as you snuggled closer to him. There were sparkles in Leon's eyes; he held you close. He carefully removed his hand from your head, and his arms are now wrapped around you. He then snuggled his nose on top of your head. Your tail starts to wag side to side so rapidly that it almost knocks over the things behind you. You were about to pull away, but Leon's big, strong arms prevented you from doing it. “Uhm, Hey? You can let go now...” you mumbled, tapping his back. Leon only shook his head “Later” you let out a sigh, I guess Jill can wait a little bit to be treated.

14 for the writing prompt! IK Leon is your blorbo rn so it can be him or whatever characters you want :3
hi ryannnn :33 i did indeed go with leon, but i threw in some jill too because i <3 the potential for their dynamicccc, i know u don't go here but i hope you enjoy!
14. overgrown
Leon’s in dire need of a haircut.
He’s been meaning to get one for a while, but his hairdo isn’t exactly the first thing on his mind when he catches a breather between fieldwork and typing up reports. It wasn’t that big of a deal anyways; not until he’d had to play honeypot, and—
It’s not something he’s going to think about. His hair’s overgrown, and now it’s gotta go.
Leon just hadn’t expected his hairdresser to be one Jill Valentine.
Chris had gone out to grab some takeout, Claire in tow as she ran him through their orders again, as the remaining two shared a moment of silence from their respective end of the couch. And then Jill’s voice cut through the murmur of the television.
“Your hair’s gotten long.” An observation; an opener. Her eyes stayed fixed to the TV nonetheless. She was being careful with him.
“Yeah,” he responded. A beat. He glanced at her from the corner of his eye, and for a split second he caught the blue of her eyes studying him— waiting for him to continue. So he nodded a little (as if to seem like he’d been considering his next words) and added, “but I’ve been meaning to get it cut. Just don’t know when or where.”
Jill’s fingers drummed over her bicep, her head tilting to the side a little. A strand of hair fell across the bridge of her nose, and the shadow it cast almost resembled a long scar.
“I’ve been cutting mine for years now.”
There was something in her voice that Leon couldn’t quite place (but he knew it. Something that didn’t have to be named. Something they shared). Her eyelashes fluttered before she pulled the strand out of her face.
“I could do it for you. If you want.”
Another flash of blue, and this time Jill’s eyes remained fixed on him. Softer than he’d ever seen them. An invitation.
“Okay.”
Which is how Leon ends up in the dining room, Jill’s fingers in his hair as she meticulously snips away the excess. (Laughter floats in from the living room, and Claire playfully shouts that she should just buzz it all off, to which Chris muses might not be such a bad idea as Leon rolls his eyes, Jill chuckling softly into his ear.)
Jill’s handling him with an amount of care he didn’t quite expect. She’s sensitive to his every movement, vigilant about checking for his approval, his permission to continue. Gentle.
“So? What do you think?”
Leon glances at himself in the mirror, running a few fingers through his hair. Some of that weight he’d been carrying around is lifted.
He can finally look himself in the eye, and it’s blue.

Adding to the Masterlist
I'm gonna start trying to mostly do just character x character for Resident Evil because I haven't done much, in fact any third person pov stories and I really wanna try it because why not? Anyways, here are the ships I'll do (and yes, I do ship like all of these SHUTUP) (and yes, I realize how badly Leon gets thrown around in ships, that poor baby)
Straight ships
Aeon (Ada Wong x Leon Kennedy)
Cleon (Claire Redfield x Leon Kennedy)
Cleve (Claire Redfield x Steve Burnside)
Heleon (Helena Harper x Leon Kennedy)
Jilleon (Jill Valentine x Leon Kennedy)
Kennigan (Leon Kennedy x Ingrid Hunnigan)
Leshley (Leon Kennedy x Ashley Graham)
Luishley (Luis Serra x Ashley Graham)
Mithan (Mia Winters x Ethan Winters)
Pierry (Piers Nivans x Sherry Birkin) (shhhHHHHH)
Reilly (Rebecca Chambers x Billy Coen)
Shake (Sherry Birkin x Jake Muller) (I love them 🥲)
Valenfield (Jill Valentine x Chris Redfield)
Valeveira (Jill Valentine x Carlos Oliveira) (they are my attraction panic)
Gay ships (men)
Carleon (Carlos Oliveira x Leon Kennedy)
Chreon (Chris Redfield x Leon Kennedy)
Chrisker (Chris Redfield x Albert Wesker) (had to get a little problematic)
Jakiers (Jake Muller x Piers Nivans)
Lethan (Leon Kennedy x Ethan Winters)
Lilly (Leon Kennedy x Billy Coen) (don't even question me)
Metaltango (Leon Kennedy x Jack Krauser) (I love the name tbh)
Nivanfield (Piers Nivans x Chris Redfield)
Serennedy (Luis Serra x Leon Kennedy)
Willsker (William Birkin x Albert Wesker) (SHUT YOUR FACE)
Winterfield (Ethan Winters x Chris Redfield)
Wintersberg (Ethan Winters x Karl Heisenberg)
Lesbian ships (women)
Chamberfield (Rebecca Chambers x Claire Redfield)
Claida (Claire Redfield x Ada Wong)
Harperwong (Helena Harper x Ada Wong)
Red Valentine (Claire Redfield x Jill Valentine) (LOVE THE NAME OMG)
Anyways, yeah. I had to Google how many ships there were, what their names were, and if they even existed (peep Lilly back up there). Some of the ship names changed since last time I check (Leshley used to be something like Kennham or some shit like that) so clarification is always basically needed for me. Also, some of the ships I saw kinda traumatized me because WOW I hate when people do people things. And idk who tf created Boulderfield but I love you because it's beautiful.

Rookie weakness
(Based on Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City) The others laugh at Leon for his rookie status so Claire puts a smile back on his face
Lee! Leon, Ler! Claire
“Damn hippie” Chris mutters as he shoves past Leon “Get a hair cut!” Albert yells as Jill throws her lunch rubbish at him. Leon says nothing and just walks away, not bothering to turn back as they all laugh at him, this was middle school all over again.
Leon was now alone in the changing room, he looked down at the floor and sighed “I knew being a cop wasn’t going to be easy but it’s a lot harder when the whole S.T.A.R.S unit are a load of…” he paused, thinking of what to call them as he rambled to himself “Snobby high school jerks?” Claire said “They’re all college graduates but they sure as hell don’t act it”. Leon jumped, he hadn’t noticed her there “Sorry, who are you?” he asked “I’m Claire, my brother is one of the S.T.A.R.S members, I saw him shove you and laugh at you and, well, I came to check on you, I’ve never seen him act like that before” “You don’t need to apologise for him” Leon said “I wasn’t going to, I was going to drag him by the ear until he apologised” Claire said with a smile.
Leon chuckled at her statement and Claire smiled even wider “Hey, there’s a smile” she teased, brushing his hair away from his face “Your hair is so soft and fluffy” she added “Stop” Leon said, getting flustered by her compliments. Claire attempts to pull Leon into a small hug but the second her hand touched his side, he jumped “H-Hey!” Leon gasped “That tickled”.
Claire’s face lit up when she heard that and she gently poked his side again, causing light giggles to pour out of Leon “Stohohop it!” he whined as Claire gradually increased the speed of her fingers. She moved from his sides to his stomach and began wiggling her fingers against the sensitive skin “N-Nohoho, nohohot thehere!” Leon chuckled “Why? Did I get your spot?” Claire teased “Yehehes! Thahahahat’s my wohorst spohohot! Plehehease stohohohohop!” he begged.
Claire decided that he’d had enough and ceased tickling his stomach, Leon clutched his stomach as the laughter and ticklishness wore off “Thahat actually hehelped, thahanks” he said “No problem, at least I know how to cheer you up when my brother and his buddies are being jerks” she said with a sweet smile on her face.
“Claire, where were you?” asked Chris “With a friend” she responded “A boyfriend?” Jill asked “Well, he’s a boy but we’re not together, just friends” Claire said “Speaking of which, I told him I’d do this”. Claire dragged Chris by the ear to the door of the S.T.A.R.S office and opened it, everyone was certainly surprised to see the rookie on the other side with his arms crossed. “Apologies” Claire said “Claire, what the hELL-!?” Chris shrieked as his little sister pulled harder “Apologies!” she snapped “O-Okay! Okay, I’m sorry! I’m sorry rook- Leon! I’m sorry!” Chris yelped “Good” said Claire, letting go of his ear.
Claire took Leon by the hand “There’s a coffee shop I wanna show you” she said. The S.T.A.R.S team was dumbfounded, they had no clue that Claire could be so intimidating, they looked to Chris who had his head down in shame and was rubbing the pain from his ear. There were two new rules put in place from then on:
1. Don’t bully Leon
2. DON’T PISS OFF CLAIRE

RE7, RE8
A study of Ethan Winters cause I love him as a character and he's so fucking weird? definetely interesting.
I've taken a few liberties about his character
RE8 is so fucked up.
I hate it.
Okay, so Resident Evil games have this entire set up/scheme that they religously follow. If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it, right? RE7 was different because it was a FPS with a very intimate horror setting. It relied solely on horror and not just the adventure side of most Resident Evil games. RE8 was crafted exactly like a typical Resident Evil videogame which isn't bad but Ethan made the difference.
Ethan is "a regular dude" given the motive "save my daughter" with the added emotional turmoil of "my wife is dead". Kinda sounds familiar right? it's almost in parallel with RE7.
"My wife's been missing for 3 years" -> "i just my wife get murdered"
"I must find my wife" -> "i must find my daughter."
So now we have Ethan's entire emotional state and motive to go forth into dangerous scenario to base videogame off of. However...all too quickly everything gets way out of hand. In RE7, the presented story is something understanble and maybe even relateable to Ethan's understanding of the world. He went into the deep swamps of Louisiana and there's a crazy murder family who'd been snatching victims (this is without the explanation of mold which is later revealed to him). Now he walks into a european village and there suddenly werewolves? steampunk man with metal powers? marionette witchcraft? hunchback of putrid mutant? evil seraphim? this is way out of his league of understanding!
And yes, he had some form of military training and was in some form of witness protection program? However there's a BIG difference between "yeah I survived Louisiana madhouse that just happened to be a mold hot spot, afterwards getting military training" and then Leon Kennedy level of bullshit bumfuckery. speaking of Leon, RE8 was odd because it kept treating Ethan as if he was Leon!
I don't mean the "Ethan Winters your reputation proceeds you" or how RE8 was just a reordered version of RE4 with some diverse bossfights, it was the "let's treat Ethan like the heroic character" when...he isn't. RE8 would have been so much better if Miranda and the Lords weren't so concerned over Ethan's appearance. What if Miranda and the Lords were going about their business getting ready for the ceremony when suddenly there was "some guy" who starts culling their army reserve?
Ethan's character in RE8...is pretty bland in comparison to RE7. Again, it's probably because he's a "quiet" man who doesn't really talk to the camera about what he knows, what he's thinking or feeling. RE8 is so big and momentous that it sorta drowns him out as a character with agency. His dialogue isn't as rich, his choices are very guided towards an endpoint, and...even the shit we do see makes Ethan out to be more heroic than what we've seen in RE7.
It's...odd? and maybe this is just bais and opinion at this point but Ethan Winters is a character ill-fitted into the protagonist role of RE8. Whereas Chris Redfeild, Leon Kennedy, and Jill Valentine could all be fitted into heroic roles and imagery like King George and the Dragon, David and Goliath, and Joan of Arc, Ethan was never a character to lead an epic journey. He's more of a "silent hunter"? idk, keep having the image of a slow and steady persistence hunter, verses...whatever the hell the other heroes got going for them.
Really, the storyline of RE8 is ill-suited for Ethan. Can't say I don't understand, a videogame is often just a videogame so the story is compromised to better fit the gameplay. and because it's so bad, I'm really tempted to do a RE8 rewrite fanfic out of pure spite but lmao ain't got enough braincells to spread across two fandoms when i'm already invested in one.
So we go up against the 4 Lords before we have a face-off against Miranda. The segment in Lady D's castle...was awkward in a character development sense. Ethan heads into the castle over and over against cause it's the biggest building around and thus the most likely to have his daughter, except even with the Duke's hints and encouragement, Ethan's motive was really shaky. Why? Because was he in the castle to save his daughter or to kill vampire ladies? would've been better if that part of the game was more dedicated to "run, hide, and investigate" with the sisters trying to hunt for him just like later Lady D would do. Instead we have multiple mini-boss fight scenes before we see the cradle and remember why we're in the castle in the first place. then we fight+defeat Lady D. Which is weird? Okay, so game mechanics Lady D just happens to find you after you kill her 3 daughters and start tomb-robbing. However...story wise it's weird because your PRIME motive is "find my daughter" so why go on killing spree? why the heroics?
we go to Duke and finally get our mission to find/build master key and also collect daughter parts from the 4 Lords.
We go to Beneviento's house which was a WASTED OPPORTUNITY for some character exposition. CURSE YOU ETHAN FOR BEING A QUIET MAN!!! We got to hear Mia talking to herself throughout her pregnaucy and honestly without the added context of "Mia was confronting the truth about both Ethan and her baby being mold people" ...i would have thought all her dialogue was due to a hard pregnaucy. This could have been prime real estate to expose Ethan and Mia's relationship, how they healed after RE7, their thoughts about building back their marriage, their fears and even the doubts about having a child. but we get NOTHING from Ethan! Was the monster baby a representation of Mia's fear? Ethan's fear? or was it just a monster? IDK! this part was so good horror wise but storytelling it SUCKED!
the Monreau segment was so lackluster. It was just a RE4 reference except more gross with acid and boogers everywhere. Ethan is able to get ahold of his daughter piece and for some reason he found pity for Monreau's weeping? He definitely stopped to listen to whiny fish baby's tantrum which I find really odd because...why??? He never showed much sympathy so why now would he stop to listen to "Miranda wants her baby back" speech? unless it was only meant for a game mechanic which i'm getting sick and tired of because it's just shit writing at this point.
We go get to reunite with Chris and get some answers as to what's going on but really Chris? you're gonna look the same man who UNTRAINED and COMPLETELY IGNORANT managed to clear an entire bioweapon's mold infestation BY HIMSELF and try to say "stand down" and expect obediance? yeah, your brainwashing military training ain't that strong.
Then we get to Karl's segment and... honestly why? why was Karl even interested in Ethan? Ethan doesn't have extraordinary abilities other than "fuck you" levels of adrenaline and perseverance. So why did he want Ethan on his team as he reblled against Miranda? Heh, almost understanable why Karl/Ethan is a thing because i can't think or anything other than pure lust probing Karl to make his offer. Karl is a bioweapon engineer, having built an army of cyborgs and is probably the only person in the village who know how cellphones actually work. Oh, as he had magnet powers so why does he want/need Ethan? In order for Rose to be reliably handled and managed? she's a 6 month baby, not even potty trained, wtf?
then chris comes clean about everything and Ethan uses tank to defeat mutant Karl with some moves pretty sure Leon Kennedy would be proud of cause they were pure bullshit.
Ethan finds out about his own mold problem and ugh you can't convince me the whole "Ethan knew he was going to die so might as well sacrifice himself" was just add to trigger the fuck out of Chris who'd seen his friend in RE5 die in an incredibly simular way. Very dramatic, heroic scene. Very "i face god and walk backwards into hell"
All in all...RE8 was a videogame. Forgiveable? Yeah, cause it was never meant to be a story. the problem here is that whilst all Resident Evil games are literally video games and makes compromises about characters, their development arcs, their stories so that it's more about the game than an actual narrative, RE8...was just a game with a cobbled together story with no care to the actual characters.
And it wasn't just Ethan who got the short end of the stick. Chris Redfield was casted into an anti-hero role and Mia was a forgotten SUPER SKETCHY character throughout. Uuuuuuggggghhhh at this point i'm just raging against a video game instead of doing an indepth character study. sorry gang

Tough
Piers Nivans x Reader
Part 3
"I'll be back." With a heavy breath, Piers put her down on one of the pods in the rest quarters that he have found not far from the current area they're in but not near enough for him to not have some little breaks in between.
She groaned once she felt the soft touch of the foam, but for her, she felt like laying in a bed of sharp rocks. Her eyes stayed shut as Piers straightened his back while looking down at her in awe and worried.
"There must be a vaccine they've made." Piers whispered to himself and looked around the room until he stopped in front of the desk. He picked up a folder that contained a memo on it.
"B antigen serum and A serum" Piers read outloud the memo, his brows knitting together as he tried to understand the words printed in the memo.
"I have to make it myself?" Piers asked loudly that it echoes across the room. A groaned from the woman made Piers turn his head in her direction.
"Shit, sure... If that'll make her better." Piers folded the paper to fit it on his pocket before walking over to the pod, he brushes his fingers to her locks. Looking down at her, watching her face grimmace from the pain she's been experiencing for an hour now. He breathed in before letting it all out, pulling himself away from her as he ventured to the abyss of the laboratory of Umbrella.
"She's not answering." Leon grunted as he clicked his tongue in frustration. It's been hours since he has been separated from his partner.
"No respond from Piers, too." Chris added, also sharing their frustration, worried about their partners who left them with no response.
"They can handle themselves." Jill said, looking around the room where lab equipment is kept.
"Yeah. They work better together." Chris agreed with him, nodding his head. Leon hesitated but let out a sigh and shut his eyes tightly, to clear his head and focus on his goal.
Minutes of observing the place, the door of the room busted open. Guns raised in a fast point, pointed towards the door. They were dead quiet as their fingers locked on the trigger, ready to push it in a heartbeat.
"Piers?" Chris called out upon seeing a familiar figure standing in the door. Piers is there, holding the gun on his hand pointed inside the room.
"Chris?" Piers eyes landed on Chris, growing a frown on his brows. His eyes landed on Jill and then Leon.
"I knew you're alive." With a proud but concern voice, Chris spoked up again, walking towards Piers who now had entered the room.
"Where is she?" Leon, step in, lowering his gun. He looked behind Piers before locking his gaze to him as he waited for his answer.
"Long story. I need to cure her." Leon's heart drops upon the statement that Piers let go.
Are you in danger? What happened to her? What did he do? Didn't Piers protect her?
"What do you mean?" Leon asked, his voice fading into a low tone. He took another step forward towards Piers, Piers stood tall.
"She got infected." Leon's eyes shut tightly as he stepped back, hearing the news made him feel weak. He has known you for years. She's his great partner he could ever have. She's his friend he needed who stayed with him.
Visioning her gone is like a poison that kills him slowly. She were his friend, the greatest of them all. He had made many memories with her, a memories filled with mixed emotions.
"What?" Jill breathed out, worried about her as Jill had experienced the same thing she's going through right now.
"I can cure her, I just needed to create the vaccine." Piers voice is calmed, but there's the fear visible on his tone. He was scared as Leon was. He was more than scared than him, despite meeting the woman for only a span of hours. He had never felt a deep connection to someone.
"Then let's hurry." Jill said, looking at the three men in the room. Jill knows what danger she is in. She can't lose a friend.
Like Leon, she built a strong bond with the woman. She can't bare to lose another friend, she had lost many of them for the past years.
"Okay. Chris and I should take on with our mission. You should go with Piers and help her Jill." Leon decided. Despite his worriedness towards his partner, they also have to progress with their mission. Leon trusts Jill than Piers, so he's sending her off with him, but he has to trust Piers to save his partner.
"Let's go then."
"Are you okay?" She opened her eyes to the voice she heard, blinking not once to clear her vision and saw Piers with a hopeful orbs.
"Thank God." She heard another voice drawing her attention to that person upon hearing it. She saw her friend Jill, who was glad to see her alive.
"What happened?" She asks, gathering all her strength to sit up. Piers immediately reacted to it, helping her up as he held her arm.
"You got infected from BOW, we cured you." Piers answered, his eyes piercing down to her. With gratefulness, he looked at her in awe. Thankful that he had succeeded in curing her, happy to see her conscious as her eyes responded to his piercing gaze.
"He cured you." Jill emphasized, pointing at Piers with a proud smile tugging on her lips. Both eyes gazed back to Jill, Piers couldn't help but chuckled a bit and shook his head as her eyes found him. Looking over to him, her lips curved upwards into a smile.
Her hand found Piers arms, and Piers turned his head to her. Looking at her with a bright smile, she returned it with a thankful eyes. Her eyes filled with joy, and the only thing she saw in her beautiful eyes was him.
"Thank you, Piers." She muttered with her weak voice, Piers couldn't help his heart but to feel something warm in it. Her reflection filling his eyes, a bright light appearing with her as his hand found her hand above his arm.
"Don't meantion it." He whispered, she smiled softly as Jill from behind watched the scenario in awe.
"Is she awake now?" Leon rushes through the door, followed by Chris with a gun and a briefcase in his hand.
"God! You're awake!" Piers step back as Leon rushes to pull her tightly in a hug, her arms steady upon his back as Leon's arms curled around her.
"I'm alive." She whispered and pulled away to look directly at Leon. Leon looked at her with a teary eye. A scared expression became relieved upon looking at her eyes. She stiffled a laugh as this was the first time seeing Leon crying. She didn't even know that the man was capable of such emotion until now.
"Why are you laughing?" The man questioned as he sat beside the bed where she was lying down.
"I haven't seen you cry." She smiled towards him. He clicked his tongue and wiped the verging tears away.
"Leon Kennedy? Crying? That's new." Chris mocked as he stood beside Jill with a huge grin in his face, Jill chuckled and nudged him lightly.
"The virus?" She asked, looking back to Leon worriedly that she failed to do her job and their mission.
Leon tugged in his small smile, despite your life being in the line. She still thinks of her job and the mission. "We stopped it." Leon answered with a pat on her shoulder and softly squeezed it.
"And we got a sample, too." Chris raised the breifcase in his hand. She let out a sighed of relief.
"We should head back." Piers stated, look at the three figures inside the room. They all nodded as Leon helped her out of the bed, comforting her and guiding her along the way.
Piers eyes unconsciously slipping towards her along their way out of the laboratory. As he look out for enemies that might harm them, his eyes are also looking out for her condition. He wanted to replace Leon, who walks beside her. He wanted to help her and make her feel better. He wanted her in his arms to protect her and shower her with affection, but he had to erase all those thoughts away and continue on their way out.
"So this is a goodbye." Piers muttered as he walked towards her. They're back at the extraction point without taking any damage along the way.
"Maybe. If you refuse my invite, then it is." Piers lips parted as she looked back at him with a sweet smile plastered on her face. The sun rose, reflecting from her eyes as it glazed over Piers.
"What do you mean?" He stuttered a little, clearing his throat to smoothen his chords. She let out a small laugh and faced him, her arms crossing above her chest as the wild wind blows it out.
"You know, if you wanna hang out some other time." With a smile not fading in her lips, she shrugged her shoulders. His eyes linger around her figure, looking for signs that she might take it back. A small huff with a smile on his lips tugged out of him when he saw no signs of her pulling back her invite.
"You might want to have some over time later?" He asked, almost like a statement rather than a question. She let out a chuckle.
"I never knew I would love overtime."

i love that new bubble tea fic how did u know i was craving some - what do you think leon's and rebecca's bubble tea order would be?
-🍫
⦑ 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐄𝐯𝐢𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐁𝐨𝐛𝐚 𝐎𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 ⦒ [ part one ]
read part two here (ethan winters, jill valentine, jack krauser, claire redfield) read the 'boba tea date' fic here (leon kennedy x gn! reader) characters: leon kennedy, rebecca chambers, chris redfield, ashley graham, carlos oliveira & ada wong a/n: funny you asked, because i had a convo ab this with my friend hahha! also added some other characters too ;) what other characters should i do? content: SFW
LEON KENNEDY
Ever since that date, he sneaks off when you're not around to try all the flavours.
He would be a sweet tooth (despite how passionately he will deny this), and orders the limited edition seasaonal tea with extra foam on top! Always 100% ice and sugar.
He's a closet sweet-tooth (especially RE2 Leon, he looks like he pretends to like coffee, inspired by this)
When you find an empty cup in the bin, he will act nonchalant and say "Oh I happen to pass by for work".
But you already know he's lying when you found a membership card in the frontest pocket of his wallet - probably eligible for a few free drinks at this point.
REBECCA CHAMBERS
Caramel milk tea with pudding. Extra sugar and standard ice.
She likes sugar, and she's not afraid to admit it!
Always get the large size since she works long hours in the lab, so she sips away her drink throughout her shift.
Probably hyped up the shop to all her colleagues already, hoping to find a companion to join her.
Very close with the shop manager since she goes there daily - will chat and banter with them
CHRIS REDFIELD
He would just get plain black tea, no sugar and less ice.
To keep up with his physique and body fat percentage low, he doesn't usually drink unless you drag him there.
Raves on about the antioxidants in black tea and how it's good for you (such a health nerd)
Starts complaining 'it's too sweet' everytime he sips on any of your drinks - apparently even a hint of sugar is too much for this old man sometimes.
ASHLEY GRAHAM
Matcha with fresh milk, extra sugar, cream on top, and mini pearls!
I think she will start drinking mango fruit tea/fruity with popping pearls but eventually branches out to matcha.
She probably thought of doing a bottomless bubble tea stand for her dream wedding ceremony.
I think she would get along with Rebecca with their mutual love for bubble tea! I think they'll be such good friends if not their age differences!
CARLOS OLIVEIRA
Normally, Carlos orders a very normal coconut green tea with no modifications.
Until one day he decides to be really cheeky and order it with every topping the shop has to offer
Rainbow jelly, pearls, pudding, grass jelly, etc. (yes, even red beans)
So many toppings that only half of the cup is liquid and the other half is a concoction of chaos
Bobarista is terrified, but Carlos is grinning widely
Still inhales the whole drink in less than an hour anyway
ADA WONG
She will go for a warm brewed tea (thinking between oolong or earl grey), no toppings or sugar.
Don't think she enjoys iced drinks in general, rather have warm/hot drinks or just plain water.

Adding onto pre-REmake info and intentionality in the scripts... this is one thing that will irritate me to the grave. "I was told to stay away" tells us SO MUCH BUT SO FUCKIN LITTLE, in both story (though this has the potential to be called back to someday) and character (unlikely to be addressed).
Who called Leon? WHY? WHAT did they know? WHY did young Leon decide to ignore the advice? What happened in his life to drive him into a potentially dangerous situation (whether he knew the full scale is irrelevant.) He was 21, with zero mentioned conmections, no friends, relationships or family. I could ramble about it for hours but the fact we got a lil golden nugget of a ridiculously important throwaway line, that nobody who made this game probably remembers anyway... I just... *grieves enormously*.
the likeliest answer is honestly jill or barry (but probably jill). we only have OG to go off of, but at the time that leon got this call, chris was in europe taking the fight to umbrella and jill was planning to join him. barry was in the process of moving his family to canada, and then he was also going to join chris. they both would've known that leon was starting soon, and they both would've known that he'd be coming in from out of town (out of state?) to do so.
the reason why i say jill over barry, though, is because jill stayed behind specifically to keep an eye on the workings of the umbrella research lab in raccoon city, whereas barry was distracted with his own family. it would've been at the forefront of her mind.
if RE3make had been done with more care, this probably would've been addressed in it. but it wasn't, so that didn't happen.
and again, only having OG to go off of, leon took the job in raccoon city specifically because of the murders that led the STARS team to the arklay mountains in RE0/1 in the first place. for him to want to be involved in a case like that and then get a mysterious call "stay away from the city"? of course he'd want to know what the fuck that was about. of course he'd want to be involved even more. that's like some classic noir shit right there. he had no way of knowing it was less noir and more romero, so it makes sense that he'd never expect a goddamn zombie apocalypse to be the reason behind that call.
RE2 leon (even in RE2make) is a 21 year old with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove. he's the kind of young person who would get this call and then continue to go to the city just out of sheer spite (in addition to his overwhelming curiosity), because he thinks he can handle whatever it is that he's being warned against. he even says to marvin "i wish i'd come sooner."
maybe this will be addressed in a later remake, if it really WAS jill. but for now, it's still a pretty safe assumption.
and always bet on RE2 leon being a dumbass.

Lately, you’ve been really embracing your sadistic side a lot more often. Maybe it was because of what Ghostface said, or maybe it was the fact that there was nothing stopping you. You didn’t know. All you knew was that it felt great.
It didn’t take long for you to start having favorites. Kate, Jane, Jeff, Yui, Felix, Jill, Leon, Carlos, Chris, and now, you’ve just added Yun-jin to your list.
You smirked as you gazed up at her hanging form. She was pretty, had a great body, and you loved her style. “I absolutely love your boots. They’re so cute.”
She let out a pained groan in response, and after another moment or two of watching her dangle from the hook, you continued on with the trial.
–
Since you were in a trial, and Ghostface had nothing better to do, he decided to wander over to the campfire. He was curious on what the topic of discussion would be. Would it be about the killers, about themselves, about him…or about you? He listened closely, watching the group closest to the campfire.
“It’s scary how..normal she seemed. If she didn’t chase after me, I wouldn’t have known that she was a killer.” Leon said.
“Yeah, I mean..it’s a shame such a pretty thing like her has to be a killer.” Ace remarked, nudging Bill, who rolled his eyes at him. Danny quietly scoffed to himself in amusement.
“And even the other killers were changed to look more intimidating, and the ones who don’t already look creepy as is. But ______, she’s a complete psychopath, and I guess that’s the scariest thing about her.” Adam stated.
“Not to mention that she acts all nice before she stabs you. It’s weird.” Kate added.
Ghostface was right. You were the survivor’s latest gossip, and you had just scared the shit out of them by being yourself. It was impressive, and he had to admit, he was starting to like you more and more.
–
You giggled as he began to pull down your dress, smiling at him in excitement. Sure, the sex was going to be fun, but you had something much even better planned.
“You promise to take good care of me, Officer?” You asked, now naked on top of him, grinding your soaked slit against his tip. He smirked in response, letting out a small groan. “Trust me babe. You’re in good hands.”
The sex was average, with him trying to thrust into you hard, pushing your hips up and down on his cock. It wasn’t surprising for a misogynistic narcissist like him chasing after his own pleasure. You couldn’t help but wonder how many poor women have had to fake an orgasm for him just to stroke his already massive ego.
You reached down and rubbed at your clit, giving yourself some sort of stimulation, causing you to clench down on him. He was throbbing inside you, and you could tell from the noises and faces he made that he was getting close. You should do it..now.
You reached behind the couch, pulling out your favorite pretty dagger and slitting his throat, just as he climaxed. You moaned as you watched his body writhe, the blood splattering everywhere.
The feeling of him dying underneath you was purely orgasmic, along with seeing him realize that he had no control of the situation at all and realizing what was truly happening. Watching him choke on his blood…it pushed you over the edge.
It’s your favorite thing to think about. One of your favorite memories, and definitely your favorite kill. It was always great masturbation material, the thought of it getting you off easily.
Even now, it helped, as you lied in bed in a completely different dimension of fucked up shit and stress, it helped you a lot. You moaned softly, rubbing faster at your clit, getting closer and closer, while you thought about it. The blood, the power, the feelings…watching that knife slice oh so perfectly through his throat-
Suddenly, the bell at the Bakery door rang, making you freeze. There was only one person who knew where your realm was, and who’d be willing to bother you like this.
“Honey, I’m home!” You couldn’t have one god damn moment of peace, could you? With an irritated huff, you pulled your hand out of your shorts, and shifted the straps of your tank top over your shoulders.
Ghostface went to your bedroom door, and you opened it just as he reached the knob. You frowned at him. “Isn’t there someone else you can bother? Go play with a survivor or something. Go to a trial.”
“Oof, someone’s grumpy.” He teased. “What’s the matter? I thought you liked my little check ins.”
The matter is that I just had to fucking edge myself no thanks to you, asshole. You thought to yourself, but you knew better than to say it. He probably would’ve enjoyed it, that sadistic perverted asshole.
“When have I ever said that?” You remarked with a frown.
Maybe you should just kill him, and get off on that. No..he’d probably see it coming. Not to mention he wouldn’t actually die, since no one ever dies here, and you’d never hear the end of it. And he wasn’t your type.
But it would be satisfying to pull his mask off and see that shit eating grin disappear off of his face, just like you did all those years ago. You squeezed your thighs together at the thought, smirking to yourself.
“What’re you smiling about?” He asked, noticing your change in expression. “Nothing.”
You replied, walking past him and out to the kitchen. “You were thinking about killing someone, weren’t you?”
“What does it matter if I was? I’m sure you’re thinking about killing people all the time.” You replied, grabbing some flour and trying to busy yourself.
“Yeah but I want to see what’s going on in that pretty little head of yours. I want to know what makes those gears turn.” He stood beside you, leaning against the counter.
“Or maybe you could keep your thoughts to yourself and mind your business.” You told him as you grabbed other ingredients. “Have you actually baked anything, or do you just mess around with this stuff to ignore me?”
“Well clearly, it isn’t working and yeah, I have been working on some things, I just haven’t had time to finish them.” You answered.
“Good luck with that. It’s hard to find anything around here, especially not cooking ingredients.” He said. “I can be very persistent. I’ll find ingredients, and I’ll bake whatever I want.”
You leaned over the counter, so your face was close to his mask. You could almost see his eyes through the mesh with how close you were standing.
“We’ll see about that.” He replied, before moving away from the counter. “You lucked out. I have to go to a trial. To be continued.”
“Feel free to not come back!” You called back to him with a grin, shaking your head.

Spent most of my day making a roster for a hypothetical Marvel vs. Capcom game where none of the playable characters from any of the other games in the series are allowed on the roster. So like, no returning characters at ALL. A fun lil exercise.
25 characters from each Marvel and Capcom, and honestly isn't as awful as I would have expected (but would still be the worst MvC roster, lol)
(The cast isn't imbalanced, I just have Reed and Sue as a single character, where Reed does the main attacks, and Sue comes out for Blocks/Grabs and some other animations. I played too much Mortal Kombat as a youth to let an invisible character exist on the roster. PLUS, combining Reed and Sue let's you make a 3v3 team with the whole Fantastic Four, which is cool)
my main takeaways are that:
MvC has already used most of the good villains from both companies. (and the remaining villains are either very passive trickster types, or too massive and cosmic to exist as a fighting game character outside of a boss fight)
It's fucked up trying to make a roster for an MvC game when basically all the Avengers and Street Fighters are off the table. I ALSO did not want LUKE as the main SF protagonist representation, but he's definitely the closest to a "main Street Fighter character" that hasn't already been used in MvC.
A lot of the popular Marvel heroes that are not already a part of MvC are fucking LAMEEEEEEEEE. I don't care how obscure we have to get, I'm not putting fucking Namor and Ant-Man on my fucking fighting game roster.
It was really hard to narrow down the Street Fighter cast, but I feel pretty good with Hugo as our big body grappler and 3rd Strike rep, and then having Juri from 4 and Rashid from 5. I like these Street Fighters a lot.
The fact that MvC hasn't had Punisher, Fury, Luke Cage, Daredevil, the Fantastic Four, Nightcrawler or honestly just a LOT of these characters on their rosters yet is a lil mind blowing. I like these characters, I think they rule. ALSO FUCKING BLADEEEEEE. I think Capcom hates money.
Capcom has a lotta good fighting game rosters that have never popped up in an MvC game as well. The designs for the Red Earth cast, as well as the casts for Rival Schools and Power Stone are fun as hell. Also, Picking Darkstalkers representatives is hard as hell, because despite MvC already using like, half the DS characters in other MvC titles, the remaining half of the DS roster ALSO kicks ass.
It was really hard to find enough Marvel characters I liked to keep up with how many Capcom characters I wanted to add, forcing a few heart breaking cuts on the Capcom side. I would've really wanted another Rival Schools/PJ character, Victor (or honestly any other remaining DS character), Saki (using her TvC moves), as well as one of several SF characters. Ultimately I couldn't really add more to the Capcom side without having to start adding some real duds to the Marvel side (like fucking Namor)
No Dead Rising characters because all their characters outside of Frank suck ASSSSSS. I do not like Chuck. I almost cut Ace Attorney as a series as well because I had a hard time imagining a character who would work as well as Phoenix and Maya. Ultimately I thought having Ryunosuke and Herlock (who would unintentionally attack people while showboating) felt like the best option. (Although Franziska would have been fun too, or an Apollo & friends character)
Mr. X, Birkin, Lady D, Saddler, and Salazar are nowhere as cool as Nemesis and Wesker (I kinda like Berkin mutation #2, but 🤷🤷). Ultimately I could not think of another RE character that fit the roster as well. I thought about having Leon as a gun mcshooty like Chris, and then having Rebecca or Claire with a missiles/zombie summoning moveset like Jill in MvC2, but that felt like a copout to just have MvC2 Jill again. +Although I kinda still like the idea of Rebecca with a healing support assist type thing, since she's a medic.) Ultimately I just went with Leon as the lone rep (with Regina acting as a second survival horror representative character, summoning Dinos the way MvC2 Jill does with Zombies)
Gene Godhand is finally on the roster (as he always should have been) as the sole representative for all the Clover Games, since Amatarasu and Viewtiful Joe were already used. If you haven't played God Hand, please do, it is very good.
I could not imagine good enough movesets for JJ Jameson and Edgeworth to justify adding them, despite thinking they are both very funny. I also cut Moon Girl because I didn't wanna imagine any of these characters beating the shit outta a lil girl, no matter how smart she is or how kick ass her dinosaur is. Also couldn't think of how Xavier would fight, since even whenever he does take a rare combat role, it's all telepathic tricks and such. Same with Mystique.
Also, no Red Skull because his ass is just a nazi, and I didn't want to imagine any of these characters collaborating with his nasty ass. Which is a shame because he would definitely be a much needed additional villain, and I think he could have a funny moveset of constantly summoning goons like his fellow fighting game nazi Parasol who summons her egrets.
Black Cat, JJ, Kingpin, Kraven, Spider Gwen, and honestly every member of the Sinister Six because I did not want the whole Marvel cast to be "Oops, All Spiderman". Spiderman really has a monopoly on all the great marvel villains who aren't either cosmic level deities or X-Men villains.
Some characters just don't feel right without their counterparts. Like, I feel like adding Red Hulk without Hulk would be a bit fucked up. Or Hercules without Thor. JJ without Peter Parker. Killmonger without Black Panther. Franziska or Edgeworth without Phoenix. Ya know?
I thought about adding The Arisen and a Pawn from Dragon's Dogma, but I don't know how interesting the moveset could be. Also, the main feature I always think about from the DD games is climbing like a jackass on all the enemies, and I cannot think of a way to add that to a fighting game that wouldn't be miserable.
lastly, some characters were totally chill to add, but went against the SPIRIT of the exercise. Stuff like Evil Ryu, Violent Ken, Captain Carter, Red Hulk and Carnage (who are both way too close to the secret characters Orange Hulk and Red Venom), Zero (from the Mega Man Zero series, as opposed to Zero from the Mega Man X series, even though I really think Zero from MMZero is very cool in SvC Chaos), the very cool and mysterious Paper Bag Man, and the 10000 cases of "character takes up a mantle that used to belong to a other person". Obviously I ended up making exceptions to this thought process for Miles, Gwenpool, and MegaMan Volnutt, but I honestly think these characters would end up having different enough movesets to differentiate themselves from Spidey, Deadpool, and Rock or X. (and also I just really like them so boo hoo)
Ultimately, I think this would be a pretty terrible roster when compared to the other MvC titles, but it was a fun thing to think about. Thank you for reading all this if ya did read it, lol.
