rhaenyra + love and sexuality:

rhaenyra has a very complicated relationship with romantic love and sexuality.  she is demiromantic and greysexual (in between sex neutral and sex positive), and a lot of the reason for that is because of how much it intertwines with her duty as heir, and the lack of agency she faces as a woman even despite her status as heir.  the ideas of love and marriage and sex have been forced upon her from a very young age, and it has led to her becoming rather averse to all of it.  what rhaenyra wants, more than anything, is agency — but she can’t have that, not when she is to be queen one day, not when she is a woman above all.  and not having a choice in matters that so intimately affect her suffocates her, fills her with resentment.  she does still understand it’s her duty and she does fulfill it by marrying and having children, all of whom she loves dearly and tries to be a good mother to, but it’s not something she would have ever chosen for herself.
