The megapost looks very interesting.
1, 2, 22 and 60 for Schoethe please 👀
Thank you so much for the ask! I knew I could count on you to let me rant about them <3
ALRIGHT. SO:
1: Who would end a heated argument by defending their actions with ‘because I love you!’ ?
Oh DEFINITELY Schiller. He's the one to get way too into an argument, to the point where he will literally confess his love in the heat of the moment and only realise it when the words have already left his mouth.
Goethe, though hot-tempered, seems like he'd be too diplomatic to say something like that in an argument. Goethe is the kind of person who'd justify his actions with some kind of elaborate, logical explanation.
But Schiller - the guy who contemplated going to fucking France to have a word in the fucking revolution! - would totally say something rash and emotional such as "because I love you" to justify some kind of irrational thing that he did.
Of course, it takes more for Schiller to lose his temper in the first place than it takes for Goethe to lose his temper, but still, Schiller is the answer to this one.
2: what would they do if the other woke up in a manic state after a nightmare?
Goethe: He'd be super worried and immediately try to soothe Schiller. He probably knows what it's like :( he'd hug him and rub his back and ask him if he needs anything. He'd try to make Schiller talk about the nightmare, but would also accept it if Schiller didn't want to tell him about it.
Schiller: Worried, but in a different way. Doctor degree goes brrrr! He knows the manic state from when he himself is in a fever, so he's at once worried that Goethe might be sick. He checks his temperature and asks him how he feels. Once he's reassured himself that it was really just a bad dream and not some kind of fever, he'd calm down and hug Goethe and whisper soothing words to him until they both fall back asleep.
22: What reminds each of their partner?
SO MUCH. Ok this one will be lengthy and kinda sad and I'm not entirely sorry about it.
Schiller: Before they knew each other, Schiller was always reminded of Goethe whenever he thought about Weimar or Italy. It disappointed him that they didn't know each other. Reading anything by or about Goethe would leave him with a bitter feeling; jealousy? Longing? Then, once they'd gotten to know each other, he'd of course be reminded of Goethe whenever he looked at his bookshelves or at the stone table in his garden. Also, flowers! Goethe, the little biology nerd, has ranted to him about flowers! And whenever he sees the mangold growing in his garden, he smiles and remembers how Goethe gave him those mangold seeds to sow, and how Goethe would go on and on about his metamorphosis theory. Also for some reason I'm thinking elder bloom. Schiller also thinks of Goethe when he researches mythology. Or when he sees someone in the street wearing mustard yellow and royal blue.
Goethe: Before they meet, Goethe doesn't really waste a lot of thought on Schiller, since he's not really keen on interacting with the guy. Once they know each other though, Goethe is reminded of Schiller all the time! Like when he sees a wiggly line and thinks about how Schiller explained to him that a wiggly line is more beautiful than a zigzag line. (This really happened.) Or when he reads something about some historical event that Schiller likes to talk about. Or when he goes down the street and sees the postman and has to suppress the urge to run up to him and ask the guy whether he's got any new letters from Schiller yet. Or when he's stuck on a line in one of his poems/plays and he can't help but think that Schiller would know what to do with this, what to write next.
And after Schiller's death, it's similar. Too many things remind him of Schiller. He'd walk in his garden past a quince tree and think about how there used to be quince trees in Schiller's garden. The short walk from his house to the theatre takes him past Schiller's house every time; and it hurts every time. Whenever he looks at the pages upon pages of Faust manuscript writings, he can't help but feel guilty and angry and sorry for the fact that Schiller will never get to read the finished play. He'd see a red haired man in the street and freeze for a second.
60: Who pulls the other closer when they’re sleeping?
This one's tricky. I like to think Goethe was more of a cuddly person. Schiller would be the kinda person to be an uneasy sleeper, someone who tosses about a lot and is troubled by his stuffy nose and a fucked up sleep schedule. So, Goethe would be the one to wake up and sleepily put his arms around a restless Schiller, mumble something like "go back to sleep" and pull him closer and nuzzle his face into Schiller's hair. :)

Gerne 1, 6, 7, 12, 22 für das Ask wenn du Lust hast 😄
1 Wer ist dein Lieblings Tatort Team?
Das ist soo schwer oh Gott aber when it comes down to it, die Münchener.
Jede? Einzelne???? Ich könnte den ganzen Tag so weitermachen. Es ist einfach eine krass gute Folge
Mein anderer Favorit ist „Schau mich an“. Weil Kalli da so schön leidet. Just because I want good things for him doesn’t mean I don’t want bad things for him. Es ist eine guilty pleasure 😔
22 Erinnerst du dich an den allerersten Fall den du geguckt hast?
Ich habe Teile von dem Fall wo Boerne unter Mordverdacht steht weil er mit dem Mordopfer geschlafen hat? Die chinesische Prinzessin oder so? bei meinen Eltern gesehen, aber da hat es mich nicht genug interessiert um mehr als zehn Minuten zu gucken. Mein ganzer erster Fall war vermutlich der Münsteraner „Lakritz“
Danke!

21, 34, 57 for the OTP asks (Schoethe, if you'd like)? :)
Of course I'd like, here we go!
21. Who would get into a fight to defend the other's honor? Who tends to the other's wounds?
I'd say they are both absolutely up to defend the other's honor, but in different ways: Goethe would look down his nose on the person infringing on Schiller's honor, and in cold politeness wish them a "good day" - before setting out to absolutely destroy that person socially. He'll make sure they never get a foot down in decent company again, a scathing review on every accomplishment, you better forget about that promising engagement (Goethe knows the family because of course he does); better get out of the country completely and change your name. He'll ruin a life, mercilessly and without a scratch on him - fortunately, because while Schiller would certainly try to take care of any wounds of Goethe's, he's kind of a chaotic mess and not really good at it.
Now, Schiller? Would just physically jump at the offending party and endeavour to rip their throat out with his teeth. He's feral. He would faint like a consumptive Victorian ingenue afterwards and Goethe would have to bring him to bed and tend to him tenderly, but he would do so happily and with heart eyes, because Schiller just beat up a guy for him. Conveniently, Goethe also knows a thing or two more about How To Live Healthily, so he's not a bad caretaker.
34. Who's more likely to tell a dirty joke or story to make the other blush?
Definitely Schiller; he's never been worried about making someone clutch their pearls. And once Goethe is over his initial "nyeh-nyeh-nyeh, your plays are crude and lewd and your Sturm-und-Drang attitude sucks!" fit, flustering him with just the kind of crude and lewd that Goethe complained about would make Fritzen's day.
57. Who's the serious one when grocery shopping and who likes to toss random things in the cart?
Again, Schiller has zero sense for health and/or self preservation; he probably lives off of chips, frozen pizza and dry noodle mixes. And rotting apples. Now, Goethe? The little nerd cooks exclusively with fresh vegetables and is positively a snob about local eggs and dairy products. Grocery shopping is Serious Business(TM) for Goethe. Especially since he tries to keep that idiot of a boyfriend alive.
#thanks!#ask thingie#Schoethe#Friedrich Schiller#Johann Wolfgang von Goethe#I still love ask games like this they give me such fun scenarios

Finally, I have read „Das Erlkönig-Manöver“ too.
You were all right: It was hella well written, it was emotionally consuming and it didn’t let me go in the final quarter. It was full of unexpectedness and sass, and some scenes were cute, some scenes were funny. And the thing with Alex and Kleist, holy moly! It was the craziest Fanfiction I’ve ever read.
But… Schoethe Fandom, please don’t hate me for this:
All in all, I did not enjoy reading it.
The final quarter of the book was it. Yes, it did hold me tight, but it was way too much at once for me. Too much randomness. Too many incompleted plottwists and hostile turns, it was… Exhausting, in the unsatisfactory way.
The cold, one-sided way Goethe was written bothered me too. The sass was superb, absolutely. But I didn‘t like his flat „old-horny-man“ character. Fuck yes, he was an old horny man. But he kinda was the only person in the story who did not receive a deeper character insight (except for the end). I would have expected more behind-the-shell-scenes of him. He kinda was just there. He was too distanced and casual to Schiller, too anti-social, he was written like a least likable character with low development, so it seemed to me. And the thing with him and Bettine was… extremely uncanny and unfitting.
In general, the entire group dynamic felt off to me.
The (ow, ow, ow) ending didn’t make it better, it abandoned me in an unsatisfactory heart-ouch.
The action at the end was exiting. But still, to much hostility between the main characters and in the story itself. Too much of everything dashing in.
I swear, Manöver-Fans, I’m not a Kunstbanause x,D
It just wasn’t my sauce.
I liked „Durch Nacht Und Wind“ better.

For the ship ask: Schoethe
What made you ship it?
Reading "Goethe und Schiller. Geschichte einer Freundschaft" by Rüdiger Safranski. The book is a little dry in parts, but boy does it ever sell their beautiful friendship and how special it was to them and their work. At the very latest after I read about Goethe's reaction to Schiller's death, I was losing it: "I thought myself lost and lose now a friend and with him the half of my existence." I MEAN?!?!
What are your favorite things about the ship?
That it's literally the enemies to friends (to lovers) trope but IRL. And that they brought out the very best in each other. Goethe was having a bit of a writer's block when he met Schiller and Schiller had been a begrudging fanboy for years and they just hit it off right away. THEY WERE WRITING BESTIES and they were inspiring each other and being silly together and starting beef together and their company just meant so much to each other, I'm getting emotional just thinking about it. Also: HEIGHT DIFFERENCE.
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
Idk, the fandom is so small that I have yet to encounter an unpopular opinion?

Schoethe raising a child headcanons
Okay, so @poesia-storica and I came up with this Schoethe concept in which Goethe and Schiller were secretly married and they (again, secretly) adopted Schiller's son Karl.
Goethe and Schiller only adopt Karl because adopting all of the Schiller children would draw too much attention.
They raise Karl very well, sometimes a little too well.
Charlotte, of course, is completely oblivious to the fact that Fritz is secretly raising Karl with Goethe. So when Karl runs up to his mom yelling that he has two daddies, she looks at him in utter confusion.
Cue Schiller saying that Goethe is the godfather, and nothing more.
Everyone else (except Christiane) knows the truth. And they're fine with it.
Karl does tend to run off. A LOT. So his dad and stepdad naturally came up with a solution: a leash child safety tether. Which of course both JoWo and Fritz are adamant about, but it's for the best.
Karl definitely tries to drag whoever is holding the tether along with him. When that thing's on, he pulls. Hard.
Also that kid just straight up runs off if neither of his fathers are keeping an eye on him in a public setting.
Everyone in Weimar thinks that these two men just running around and looking for this small child is completely normal.
Karl is definitely one step ahead of his dads. He is a manipulative little shit yet he is very adorable and sweet.
And by manipulative he will do that thing where small children lie and the parents believe them.
He also swears. @poesia-storica had this thought of Karl hearing Schiller cursing and deciding to use the word. All. The. Time. Poor Goethe has no idea what to do anymore.
So one day...
Karl: Scheiße.
Goethe and Schiller: *gasp*
Goethe: Don't use that word, Karl.
Karl: What word?
Goethe: *gives Schiller a "please help me" look*
Schiller: *whispering* I think he knows which one.
Karl: You mean scheiße?
Goethe: ...
Schiller: *sigh* Yes. That one. But don't ever use it again. We can, because we are responsible adults who can watch our mouths and know when and when not to use it.
Karl: I'm responsible too...
Schiller: You just swore twice.
Karl: SCHEISSE
Goethe: Oh no. Child is broken...guess we messed up.
Schiller: He's grounded.
I can imagine them in some public setting or something and Karl just suddenly runs around swearing his head off and Goethe and Schiller are mentally facepalming.
That doesn't mean that Karl isn't a good kid; of course he is. And Goethe and Schiller love him very much. They're just protective.
Also whenever his dads have a fight, Karl just goes up to Fritz, hugs his leg (refusing to let go) and just says, "I think Daddy likes you as much as I do. Probably as much as I like pudding."
And Schiller just M E L T S
Karl is not only cute and mischievous, he's great emotional support.
Overall, our favorite literary husbands love their son way too much and he loves them back, perhaps even more.
Credit to @poesia-storica for some of these amazing ideas!

hey this might be an insane question but i took a deep dive in the schiller/goethe rabbit hole and found a post of yours from like 2017 and i was wondering if you have any fun facts about them you could share? i dont speak german and i keep coming up empty handed from google searches. all i know is that goethe took schiller's skull which. hmmmm. idk do you know of any romantic letter or anything im. im dying i need to know
lmao not an insane question at all! the schiller/goethe discourse is strong!
a great resource is this blog @schoethe, they post quotes, excerpts from letters and diaries etc.
if you want more info on the skull thing i would recommend the whiplash of a read that is the wiki entry for goethe‘s poem "bei betrachtung von schillers schädel". if it’s not available in english it’s truly worth running it through a translator.
the funniest fact i can share is that i absolutely sent my girlfriend down her own rabbit hole reading your ask to her and she described them as "enemies to lovers?!?" after doing her own google search AGSJAGAJSGS
also please enjoy this meme that we just crafted together:

Using Tumblr to improve on your target language by following a bunch of blogs in that language/from ppl whose native language that language is is a really weird experience cuz you get exposed to the culture but in a really tumblr way.
Like, I know these two men are two of the most important authors in this language's literary history. But all I know about them is that there is a sizeable amount of people that write gay fanfiction about them.
#yes this is about słowacki and mickiewicz#Like I know I know I should involve myself more with Polish literature#but I just really like this current state of 'the only thing I know about these two is that it's a Schoethe type of situation'

Historically speaking, Schiller was both, not a fan of dancing and not a very skilled dancer at that. (He was generally not the most coordinated person apparently; he was also really bad at horseback riding.) His wife really enjoyed dancing, but he never went out with her to the balls etc. because he really hated dancing that much and would rather sit alone in his room and write. Who’d have thought.
HOWEVER, ignoring that fact, I have an idea in response to the “Who is playing the piano?” Question! There are several people in their lives who played the piano (e.g. Schiller’s wife) but the most logical answer to this question in this specific situation would be Andreas Streicher, the guy who ran away from military school alongside Schiller. Streicher played the piano and was a composer. He also knew Schiller very well and probably wouldn’t mind Goethe and Schiller dancing together, if you catch my drift. ;)
Unfortunately, Streicher and Schiller parted ways before Schiller met Goethe and they didn’t see each other again afterwards. But if we’re already ignoring Schiller’s hatred towards dancing, we can let this slide as well and just pretend that Streicher could/would play the piano for them. Have some historical inaccuracy. As a treat.
Schiller and Goethe slow dancing at night in candle light with soft classical piano music playing in the background bye

eyooooo time for sweet sweet reveeeeenge 😎😄 B, M, N aaand Z (maybe how you came up for the idea for Referendare und Liebe? 👀) liebe grüüüüüße
😅😅😅
B - A pairing that you initially didn't consider but someone changed your mind: Honestly, Remus/Sirius (HP). Back in the day I thought James and Sirius had the real chemistry - and I still think they do, I've just expanded my horizons.
M - Name a character you'd like to have as a friend! Clark Kent. Super rad dude, very likable, could single-handedly help me move.
N - Three things I wish I saw more of in my (main) fandoms: Trans characters, poly relationships, and well-written kink.
Z - Just ramble / how R&L came to be: well, it's funny you ask because it's a great story. Buckle in.
It's the spring of 2018, smol Fox is young and stupid and has just gotten really into cosplay. They've convinced their best friend to join them in a quest to cosplay their (shared) latest obsessions. They thought, three days are absolutely enough for two people to sew four full costumes. They were wrong.
It's the night before the convention. The two have been sewing nonstop for three days and slept a combined seven hours the night before. They're listening to some loud emo music while their mutual other friend is peacefully sleeping right next to them. It's 1am, 9 hours until the convention, not a single one of the costumes is done, and the sewing machine just broke. The mood has hit rock bottom, annoyed tension is in the air that not even mcr can dissipate. 2am. 8 hours until the convention. Fox says:
"Hey. I gotta think about something fun or I'm gonna throw this sewing machine. Schoethe high school au, go!"
The rest is history. By the time the sun went up, two of the costumes were at least wearable and the entire fic was plotted. I genuinely don't remember anything that happened at the con that day because I was too sleep deprived but we made it. We also had to re-plot the entire fic later before I could actually write it, because we didn't take any notes and forgot half of what we came up with due to the sleep deprivation. It was fun but I'm never doing that again.
