I finished goblin and immediately started rewatching Touch Your Heart. Two episodes in, and it has been extremely rewarding I can’t stop smiling.

She is so cute my heart BURSTS

He too is cute and SOFT I FORGOT HOW SOFT HE IS. KWON JUNG ROK AND REAPER ARE BASICALLY THE SAME PERSON I-

Wooooow Touch Your Heart did not have to go that hard in the first two eps. Slain. Done. Finished.

I thought their fierce unrepentant emnity would have been dragged out much longer, but I think that’s what’s so beautiful about it: they both innately respond to each other’s sincerity. Oh Yoon Seo wants to be liked and to do well. Kwon Jung Rok can see how hard she’s trying, but not only that, she is willing to take the hard knocks. Seeing the other women in the office being nosy like that was awful, but she put aside her pride and kept the peace. He’s also seen how genuinely sweet she is, in the restaurant, and how scared she was in the car. It’s what I love about her character.

And it goes both ways. Lawyer Kwon isn’t as cold as everyone would make him out to be. He just wasn’t paying attention before. He’s someone who doesn’t consider things like social pressure and what a person ‘should’ do. That’s what makes his actions genuine. He’s taken notice, changed himself rather than being willfully rude or cruel. Hopefully, his kindness penetrates enough before Yoon Seo takes ‘revenge’ on him. Fighting, Jung Rok!

I can’t wait to see how this unfolds when it’s so clear that they complete each other from the start. They’re both people that others would consider confident, when really they’re both protecting a soft underbelly (OYS’s work struggle/KJR’s past entanglement). Oh, my heart.

KISSES LIKE THAT CAN'T BE FAKED

i mean, maybe it's my brain and heart lying to me because lee dong wook and yoo in na have so much chemistry and i've loved since goblin, of course, because of their not-entirely happy ending. BUT DAMN, THOSE KISSES.

i've never seen kisses like that on kdramas and i've seen enough for the past five years. sooooo, yeah, i love them, i want them getting married and maybe babies in their future? no? yes? PLEASE?

A wrap of my initial feelings, re: Touch Your Heart ep. 3 and 4:

*inhuman screeching* You have to understand, I am not someone who enjoys romcoms when they’re saccharinely sweet. Or when they’re upendingly shallow. That’s what I liked about WWWSK. The plot of them falling in love was largely basic, but it was mature, undercut with their shared trauma, and Kim Mi So’s rejection of certain stereotypes (her utter resistance to Yeong Joon, oppa, etc). Was it the best plot that had ever been created? No. It fell in places, ended sort of weird (pacing was off), but what I loved about it was the characters. The cohesive unit that the cast provided and how well Park Min Young and Park Seo Joon worked together.

How does all this relate to Touch Your Heart? It’s that simple plot aspect, although the end of ep. 4 is clearly punting us towards the larger subplot, which is no doubt related to our heroine’s past. Regardless, Yoo In Na and Lee Dong Wook are carrying the basic plot and making it feel so real and genuine. Oh Yoon Seo’s (Oh Jin Shim? IDK which to call her) crush that is steadily building isn’t borne out of his looks, despite the fact he’s handsome. Her feelings have arisen out of his naturally kind heart. Her jealousy wasn’t about another woman. She wanted those soft moments that they had shared together to be just theirs. She wanted to feel/be special to him. She wanted him to feel the same way about her as she does about him. How much she understood that consciously versus subconsciously remains to be seen.

What stuck with me was their conversation at the drive-thru. There are some things the law can’t account for, some things that require common sense etc. Actually, one of my favourite things in law is things known as ‘Acts of God’. Like, say you’re being sued because you didn’t go to work one day, but you couldn’t get there because the bridge you cross was destroyed by a bolt of lightning. That’s known as an act of God. It’s out of human control. Add in that she asks if she could wear colour and he asks when did he say she couldn’t? Lawyer Kwon lives a life very much in the lines of the law, almost black and white, but Yoon Seo brings colour, brings richness, brings depth to his previously lacking life. She’s something completely nonsensical to his sensibilities, which is why she’s necessary. Perfect opposites attract.

I also love how each episode, Oh Yoon Seo learns a bit more about herself, her own capabilities and restores a bit more of her confidence. The plot will never supercede the characters in this drama, and that’s fine because they have the two leads who can carry that burden. That’s why Touch Your Heart works, imo. I’m really honestly surprised at how much I’ve enjoyed these episodes because this sort of thing isn’t normally my cup of tea.

MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!!!!!

The love on this drama has gone too soon but I am totally in for it, because w suffer a lot from Goblin and they never had a relationship, a real one, on Goblin. So I'm not complaining for the fast pace. I'm digging it for sure.

And the story it's not boring at all. This is already my favorite drama of the year and it's barely starting!

you guys. when i said yesterday that the scene when yoon seo is blowing on her hands should end with jung rok putting them on his pockets i… didn’t expect it to really happen because when was i lucky with my otps

BUT. IT DID. AND MY HEART IS NOT HANDLING IT WELL. LIKE I LEGIT WAS YELLING AND HAD TO REWIND THE SCENE TO SEE IF MY EYES WERE PLAYING TRICKS ON ME. BUT THEY WEREN’T???? IS THIS DRAMA MY DREAMS COMING TRUE??? I CAN’T BELIEVE IT. AND HOW HE SAID THAT HE WANTED TO BE THERE FOR HER TOO?? I’M EXPLODING.

and the rest of the episode was so good!! they’re both so in love already and worry about the other so much i’m- and jung rok’s turn to be jealous!! thank god for that too. AND the fact that he was tired and not feeling really good but still wanted to go with her to drink?? my heart DROPPED

i don’t think i’ll be able to survive when they actually start to be on a relationship

The simplest way to tell a person one likes that he is liked is, perhaps, for one to actually tell that person that he is liked.

“Or,” Oh Yoon Seo tells herself, smiling all the while, “I can just let that person see it through my actions.”

Which is why she makes his coffee the way he wants, contacts his clients just as he had instructed her to, and anticipates his needs even when he hasn’t mentioned them yet.

This is also why, when she noticed that he’s too immersed in a case the third time this week to actually order his dinner, she asks her manager to buy her some ramen - intending for him to eat it.

“You need something to warm your tummy,” she says, setting down the ramen in front of him at his table. “That way, you can think and work better.”

He blinks at the meal, then at her. “I didn’t ask for this,” Jung Rok tells her.

“I know. But, you’re going to eat it anyway.” She winks at him.

He sighs. 

Then after a while he says, “Miss Oh Jin Shim.”

“Hmm?”

He then proceeds to give her this look - the one that makes her stomach flutter about, the one that makes her feel as though he’s juuuuust about to confess his undying love for her--

“You can go home now,” Jung Rok says, turning to his computer again. “I can finish up here.”

...oh.

Well.

He can always confess to her another day.
