"Listen. I understand that the four of us are technically sharing the garage, but can you guys please stop poofing into my shower?" Y/N looks at the three ghost boys in front of him.
"Hold on. I've never poofed in your shower." Alex said.
"Yeah, me either." Luke said.
They all turned to Reggie who tried to look innocent. "Oh, come on. It was one time."
"It was six!" Y/N said.

Where Will We End Up? (Headcanons/Context)
In honor of the resurfacing of JATP S2 rumors, here's some context set in the WWWEU? Universe.
Warnings: mentions of absent fathers, relationships with parents, implied hostile home environment, use of Y/N, Alex is Catholic, implied homophobia, female reader (Let me know if I missed something!)
Luke Patterson
Born November 25, 1977 (13 at the start of the story)
The oldest of the group
Born and raised in Canada
Moved to LA when he was 12 for his 8th-grade year
Only child
Lives with both his parents
Has a good relationship with both but struggles to communicate with his mom more
His dad plays guitar and taught him how to play
Has ADHD
Has a slight accent
And a stutter
Started cutting the sleeves of his shirts because too much fabric bothered him
Was overstimulated on the first day of school
He bumped into Alex in the cafeteria causing both of their trays to fall down
It was his last straw and he exploded
“Hey! Watch where you’re going!”
Y/N put him in his place after he yelled at Alex
He looked for them a few days later to apologize
“I uh, brought cookies?”
He brings cookies every time he messes up
Doesn’t have physical boundaries with his friends
It took getting smacked on the forehead by Bobby many, many times for him to understand not to hug him unprompted
Emily loves hosting
The group used to sleep over at Luke’s a lot
The more serious Luke got about music, the more arguments he had with his mom
It got so bad he eventually ran away from home
He actually wasn’t allowed in Alex’s room alone anymore after they got caught kissing
Every time he went over to Alex's the air was tense
He stopped showing up the way he used to, instead opting to sneak in
He picked up a job as a waiter at a local diner
The group loves to go in just to terrorize him
Firmly believes that you choose your family and he chose his
Isn’t bad at school, he just can’t focus on it for the life of him
Gets detention a lot because he gets caught not paying attention
The reason they have a zero-tolerance after 3 tardies rule
He takes boxing lessons with Jose Camacho to release his pent-up energy
Forgets he knows how to fight
Reggie Peters
Born May 06, 1978 (12 at the start of the story)
Third oldest of the group
Born and raised in LA
Lives by the beach
Likes to sneak out and listen to the waves
Can surf
Lives with both his parents
But he doesn’t have a good relationship with either
He doesn’t hate them nor have they directed anything at him, he just wishes they’d listen and spend more time with him
Only child
But he babysits Diego Miller, the little boy next door who he decided was his little brother
He’s not as dense as he makes himself out to be
He just doesn’t like to think about things too much because it stirs his feelings
Really good at Math and Science
He likes that it's logical thinking, not emotional
Doesn’t like English because it requires him to tap into emotions and he really doesn’t want to
He doesn’t like History either because it leaves him bothered by the shitty and unfair past
Has selective mutism
It kicked in badly during one of his parents' fights
The longest he’s gone mute was 2 months
It kicks in every now and then but not for as long and not around everyone
He learned ASL because of it
Sometimes he uses it outside of an episode just because it’s easier
Everyone else tries to pick it up, levels of proficiency vary
He found “Wright’s Domain” a comic book shop one day after he had walked out of his house
He spends most of his Summers there
He sits in the same bean bag
The more time he spent there, the more he found himself doing random things
He’d reorganize comics, reposition figurines and when someone asked him where they could find a specific section he pointed them to it
The couple that owns the store started to notice him
They left snacks by his bean bag chair with a note thanking him for fixing up
He wrote back a thank you with a doodle of himself holding two thumbs up and an arrow pointing out his name was Reggie
The snacks waited for him every visit
His voice did come back, at the shop
He spoke to the owners, Donna and Michael, quite often, they love hearing about his day
He eventually got a job there
Ended up bringing everyone one day
He was a little nervous because the shop was his safe space but so was the group
The owners loved the group too
Donna and Michael live in THE house
Alex Mercer
Born August 23, 1978 (12 at the start of the story)
Second to last youngest
Lives with both his parents
The eldest
He has a younger sister named Sophia
Had a good relationship with both his parents up until he came out
Always watches out for his sister
He plays tea party and dresses up with her
His dad made a comment about it and Alex stopped doing it so frequently
Grew up Catholic
He never really thought much of it until he noticed he looked at boys a lot for being a boy himself
He’s not the biggest fan of it anymore
Was already an anxious kid but as he got older; his religious background, his dad's expectations, and being more aware of the world's problems made his anxiety skyrocket
He fidgets by tapping his fingers on a surface or hitting his thighs with his hands
His parents got him a drum set to help ease it
He met Y/N when they were 7
He defended her against a bully
He got detention
She walked home with him that day and they realized they lived 3 streets down from each other
Really wants to make his dad proud
His dad has a lot of traditional views of men which contradict with Alex 95% of the time
His first crush was on Ryan, a boy he went to church with, but he didn’t know it yet
His stomach dropped when he saw Ryan and another girl share a quick kiss at the park
Developed a crush on Luke
His first kiss and boyfriend was Luke
His dad opened the door to Alex’s room and caught them kissing
His dad stood there, closed the door and walked away
His dad didn’t speak to him at all through dinner
The next day, his dad told him he’d take him to church to repent
Alex said no and came out when he was 15
They got into an argument
His dad didn’t kick him out (to save his image) but told him that until he repented, he wasn’t his son
He was the first to meet Reggie
They’re in the same Math class and the teacher asked Reggie to tutor him
They met up after school twice a week
Alex wasn’t looking for a friend but Reggie being the social butterfly he is, didn’t care
The more times they saw each other, the more Alex got used to him and his antics
He actually understood Math the way Reggie would teach him
One day Luke didn’t want to go home because he had fought with his mom and Y/N was busy, Alex found Reggie to tell him he had to stick to Luke
Reggie told him Luke was welcome to join their session
Luke sat across from them and wrote in his journal but was still fidgety
Reggie cut the tutoring session short and invited them out for ice cream
Alex questioned his life choices as Luke and Reggie’s loud personalities mixed
He initiated his and Luke’s first kiss
And then immediately panicked before Luke laughed and pulled him back in
He was the one who broke up with Luke
There was an awkward air for like 2 minutes before they talked about everything and went back to being best friends
Bobby Shaw
Born March 16, 1978 (13 at the start of the story)
The second oldest of the group
Never knew his dad
Lives with his mom and grandma
Has a good relationship with both
Only child (not really but we'll get into that later)
Keeps to himself mostly
Skates
He paints, though he doesn’t like people looking at his art
Took an art class during his freshman year
He never did anything in class
He’d do it at home and sneak in the assignment the next day, nameless
His art teacher caught him one time and told him he’d leave the art room open for him to do his assignments so as long as he starts signing his name
He spends a lot of time in the art room
Close to the art teacher, Mr. Cervantez
He was the first positive male influence in his life
Befriends Y/N first, she takes an art class with him
He’s actually not sure how to handle social interactions
He’s pretty awkward
He helped Luke on their first week of high school
Luke was being picked on and they had taken the beanie off his head
He stopped Luke from launching himself at the other guys
“Come on guys, give it back.”
One of the guys looked at him questioningly
Bobby stood his ground
The guys tossed the beanie back at Luke and Bobby walked off as soon as they left
Luke approached him weeks later and he internally panicked the whole time
Has problems with authority
That guy that will touch something after you said not to
His grandma hates that he does that but he can’t help it
He’s respectful to both his mom and grandma, no one else really
Lacks a filter, has accidentally hurt people’s feelings because of it
Not a big physical touch guy
He has to be very comfortable with you to initiate touch
All talk
Like he can’t fight
He’s gotten by on physical appearance alone
The guys hide behind him all the time and when Y/N needs him, his tall looming presence behind her has people running for the hills
He’s punched one person and one person only
It was Alex’s dad
Y/N Y/L/N
Born September 01, 1978
The youngest of the group
Only child
Lives with her mom
Dad walked out when she was 7
Her mom started drinking, causing the mother-daughter bond to break
Spends the night at Alex’s a lot
The first time, her bed was set up in Sophia’s room
After everyone had gone to sleep she snuck into Alex’s room
The next day, his parents found her sleeping at the edge of his bed with his blanket draped over the edge also to cover Alex who slept on the floor
After it happened 3 more times, they stopped trying to separate the two
She has clothes in the bottom drawer of Alex’s dresser
Alex’s number 1 protector
They made friendship bracelets, purple yarn for her and blue for Alex
Luke and her = sibling energy
Likes to wear other people's clothes
Makes her feel like they’re with her and she’s not alone
Literally carrying their love with her
It started with one of the shirts her dad left behind
She likes Alex’s hoodies, Luke’s beanies and in the Summer she’ll snag one of his sleeveless tees, Reggie’s flannels and in the Winter his leather jacket, Bobby’s t-shirts and vests
The guys knock on her door when they can’t find the item they want to wear because they know she has it
She and Alex remade their friendship bracelets to include Luke (Orange)
She made them remake them later once Bobby (Green) and Reggie (Red) became part of their little group
All 5 of them wear it no matter what
She likes to draw
Was the first to befriend Bobby in art class
She admired him from afar (because look at him) and wondered what he did, given that he always slept in the class
One time while waiting for Alex and Luke to get out of detention, she walked around school and caught Bobby in the art room
His back was to her and he wore headphones as he painted
She loved his piece and wondered why he never did anything in class
Wrote him sticky notes encouraging him to show his work
Eventually, he wrote back saying he’d reveal his work if she revealed who she was
It was a deal and they started talking more afterwards
Luke was upset when he learned she was friends with Bobby
Mostly because he thought Bobby was a dick (a dick he tried to be friends with first but failed)

Not sure if I want to let go || JATP Reggie x Reader
Requested by anon
Word count: 6k
A/N I haven’t written in a while but I adore JATP and Reggie. Anyway I hope you enjoy!
Warnings: Character death, vomiting, mention of blood tests and hospital (let me know if I missed any major ones!)
Tumblr media
Finding out you were dying before you could graduate high school sucked, especially when it was a drawn-out and often painful process. But you had been told not to plan for your future when you were in your first month of high school, so you had had a couple of years to come to terms with it, sort of. You hadn’t told your friends though, Julie and Flynn didn’t need to know. It was easier to die quietly and for them to find out after the fact than for you to tell them and have them coddling you and treating you like a different person.
“Hey, Julie,” you called out as you walked towards her mother’s studio so you wouldn’t frighten her, “your dad told me you would be out here?” Opening the door, you realised that you were the one in for a fright. “Uh… who are these guys?” Julie and three guys holding instruments whipped around to face you. You had an appointment the day Julie performed at the spirit assembly, and you weren’t really on social media, so you didn’t know that she had a ‘hologram band’ and that these guys were it.
“You can see us?” The guy behind the drum kit knocked his chair over as he stood in a rush, the other two guys just stared at you, dumbfounded.
“Of course I can?” It was the stupidest question you had ever heard, of course you could see them. You looked at Julie, who also stared at you wide-eyed. “Julie, why are these random guys confused that I can see them?”
“Oh, well um.” She panicked as she looked between you and each of the three guys before realising you weren’t there the day she first performed, and therefore didn’t have to tell you the hologram lie. “They’re my new bandmates.” Obviously having no reason to question this, you turned back around to them.
“Oh! Well then, hi!” You gave them all a quick wave. “I’m Y/N, nice to meet you guys!” The one behind the drums had moved to be beside the bassist, as the other guy, holding a guitar walked over too.
“I’m Alex.” He mirrored your wave with a beaming smile.
“Luke.” The guitarist had pushed his guitar down and to his back, waving slightly, but clearly still very confused. There was a growing pause as the bassist just stared at you, mouth ever so slightly agape. Alex dug his elbow quickly into his side, which caused him to jump. It looked like he went to hold his hand out, but changed his mind, but you didn’t pay any mind to the movement, as he broke into a smile that made you almost forget your name.
“The name’s Reggie, nice to meet you.” He greeted with a quick wink, and you felt your cheeks warm before you broke eye contact and turned to Julie.
“So, bandmates? Wanna play me a song?” They all quickly scattered into place as you moved to sit on the couch. The song they played was more rock than the songs she normally wrote and played, but you were enjoying it all the same. Your eyes moved between them all, but got stuck when you saw Reggie. He winked again, your cheeks warmed up again, and you laughed lightly. But as you watched him bounce his way over to Luke to share the microphone as Julie belted the second chorus, you felt your mind wander. You wanted to see Julie and hopefully Flynn today because you had an appointment with your doctor this morning. The results from your recent blood test had come back and it wasn’t good. You had been told at the original diagnosis that you may not see your high school graduation, but then less than a year later you were given a college graduation. The idea of a college graduation had you naively planning for a future, planning to have a job and maybe even fall in love. You knew it was stupid, but you had been given seven more years, so maybe you could get some more. But that morning, you had been given eight months at most. You had been all cried-out well before you got to Julie’s place, and by the time you had, you convinced yourself you were back in the headspace of living for the present.
With a final strum on the guitar, they all took a bow, and you stood up, climbing onto the couch as you whooped and clapped.
“That was amazing!” Jumping down you continued clapping, and you high-fived Julie. You spun to Reggie, hand still slightly raised, but you quickly lowered it, noticing he hadn’t moved from his bass. “You guys are awesome!” You pointed your finger as you spun again, making sure that each of them was pointed at in turn.
“Thank you, thank you.” Luke bowed with a dramatic flourish. You noticed Julie looking at him, and when you caught her eye you winked. The girl had a crush, and it was very obvious. But she just rolled her eyes, darted them at Reggie behind you, and winked back. Before you could think of a response, the doors swung open.
“I have arrived!” Her arms were above her head with a hand on either door. “Oh hey, Y/N!” With a quick skip she gave you a hug, before giving one to Julie. “How are my girls doing?”
“Oh good!” Spinning on your heel to face her. “Julie and the guys just played me one of their songs and they are so good!” Flynn laughs, remembering that you hadn’t seen them perform yet.
“Aw, thank you.” Reggie himself lets out a laugh behind you and you look over your shoulder at him with a smile.
“You are very welcome.” When you turn back, though, Flynn has the same confused look that everyone else had when you first entered the studio.
“You can see them?” Once again, you were thoroughly confused by the question. Why was everyone confused by the fact that you could see the three very cute guys in Julie’s studio? Flynn waved her arms at Julie almost yelling, “how can she see them?”
“Why does everyone keep asking me that? Of course I can see them.” Your own hands move rapidly in frustration. “I’m not blind!”
“Because they’re ghosts!” The second the words leave her mouth, her hands slapped over it, trying to force them back in. You let out a short breath, shoulders dropping, eyes wide.
“What?” You feel lightheaded, room spinning as you look at each of the guys in turn. They all seemed embarrassed, Luke with his hand on the back of his neck, Alex looking at his feet and Reggie rocking on his feet not looking at you. “What do you mean they’re ghosts? Like, they’re dead? Ghost ghosts?” You almost hyperventilated. “No.”
“Hey, you’re okay.” Julie and Flynn rushed over and helped you sit back on the couch before sitting on either side of you. Despite looking very unsure themselves, the guys moved and sit on the coffee table in front of you. “Just breathe.”
“Do you-” Alex cuts himself off, unsure of whether or not you’d actually want to speak to them. But you look up slowly, hands gripping Julie and Flynn’s. “Do you want to ask us anything?” You nod, before taking a slow breath.
“When?” You didn’t know whether the question was… insensitive, but you had to know.
“‘95.” It was said so off-handedly, like Alex was just telling you what he wanted to eat, not like he had just told you when they died. All you can do is hum in response. Another deep breath.
“Why can’t Flynn see you?” You look over to her as you ask, you knew the real question was why could you, normal people don’t see ghosts.
“No idea.” You scoff out a laugh, looking back at the three guys, the three ghosts sitting on the coffee table in front of you. This wasn’t the worst news you heard that day, weirdest but not the worst.
“Well okay then.” Your voice had lost all its nerves and you seemed to be okay again. “You guys working on any other new music we can hear or..?”
--
Alex was off somewhere with Willy, and Luke and Julie were in her room working on some new lyrics, which left you and Reggie in the studio. He was trying to teach you to play the bass, but it was pretty difficult because every time he reached out to adjust your fingers, his hand went through. At this point, you didn’t remember if you actually wanted to learn the bass, or just wanted to be close to Reggie, but it didn’t really matter. You were having fun and a laugh and stupidly feeding the crush that had formed over the past month you had known him. He made you laugh and feel safe. It was dumb, having a crush on a ghost, but the energy Reggie had - all the guys had, really - made it feel like he was still breathing, and not made of nothing.
“Okay so my fingers go here and here?” You looked at him tentatively, trying to both make eye-contact with him, and avoid it. He gave you a proud smile and nodded, and you tried to make it look like you hadn’t just become a puddle of softness.
“Then strum down.” You did as instructed and looked back at him for approval. He raised his hand for a high five and you did the same, before you both high fived yourselves. It was something you had figured out a week into your friendship as you both were very into high fives, but it’s very difficult to high five when one party is made of air.
“You ready to put it all together?” The song was one of the Sunset Curve’s slower ones, much easier to learn.
“No.” He snorted at you, shaking his head.
“Let’s do this then.” So you did, hoping his confidence would rub off on you.
A couple of missed notes, and a restart or two from some major blunders, but you eventually got it.
“I knew you could do it!” You let out a light shriek in celebration.
“If I could hug you I would. You’re an incredible teacher!” You take the bass off and put it back on the stand. “Thank you.” The sad smile he gave you was very different to the one you gave him. His was a look of ‘I wish I could hug you too’, yours was ‘in a couple of months maybe I’ll be able to’.
When you were with him, it was a constant internal battle of wanting to stay alive so you could have a future and know you could see him and your friends, but also wanting to give up so that maybe you could actually touch him, and because you were just so tired of fighting sometimes. It was a depressing thought, giving up. Not that it wasn’t one you hadn’t had before. A month after your first diagnosis, you had accepted your death, much to your parents’ chagrin. They wanted you, their baby, to stay alive. It broke their hearts to see you giving up.
“You are most very welcome.” His ever-cheerful voice broke you out of what was going to become a downward mental spiral. “Next time I’m teaching you one of our more upbeat songs.” He laughs and you assume it’s at the fear in your eyes at the idea of learning a harder song. “You’ll kill it, trust me.”
--
After days of non-stop begging, the guys had finally agreed to teach Julie some of their old music, and you and Flynn were having a private Sunset Curves concert with hits straight from 1995. And you had to admit, the songs sounded better coming from Sunset Curves than they ever did from Trevor - who you had found out recently was actually their fourth band-mate who stole the songs and credit from Luke.
Whenever a stolen song or one you knew was played, you and Flynn screamed the lyrics back, while for songs you hadn’t heard, you just danced and jumped and had a great time.
“And this, our final song, will slow it down a bit because you three,” Luke waved his finger between you, Flynn, and Julie, “look like you are about to collapse.” At the mention of a slow song, you and Flynn pull out your phones and turn on your flashlights, while Julie rushes over to the light switch and turns them off. Expecting Julie to go back to centre stage, you are slightly surprised when she walks over to Reggie’s usual mic, while he walks to the centre.
As the slow melody started playing, Flynn threw her arm over your shoulder while holding her phone up with her opposite hand and you put your own arm around her waist. The pair of you swayed back and forth to the unfamiliar song. You had borrowed the Sunset Curve demo from Julie shortly after becoming friends with them meaning you knew a fair chunk of their old music, but they only ever got to record one demo so hearing an unrecorded original straight from 1995 was strange but not surprising.
At least, you thought it was one of their old songs until you heard ‘I just want to be able to hold you close’. You probably would have missed the line if you hadn’t been staring at Reggie’s gorgeous eyes, that was what made it click that the line - the whole song really - was being sung to you, for you. Frozen, you slightly swayed back and forth during the song, but it was largely due to Flynn, who was giggling and aw-ing beside you.
You barely noticed the song end, barely noticed Luke and Alex ‘poof’ away, barely noticed Julie grab Flynn’s arm and drag her out of the studio. All you could see was Reggie, who pushed his bass behind his back and moved in front of you.
“Hey.” It was so soft, so quiet, and so unlike the normal loud and energetic Reggie. He held his hands out in front of him, palms up, and you hovered your own above them, palms down.
“Hey.” You didn’t want to look away from him, lost in his features.
“Look, I really like you, and as much as it kills me,” he gives a short laugh at the phrase while you roll your eyes, “to not be able to hold your hands properly, I can live with-” You interrupt him with a scoff and another eye roll.
“You’re doing it on purpose now.”
“Maybe, but the point is that I wanna see if we can make something work.” His eyes go wide. “That is if you like me too! I should have probably led with that.”
“Reg,” you try to hold back a huge smile, “I like you too.”
“Oh good because I was so worried-”
---
Dates were hard when one person was a ghost - much like many many things that came with befriending and dating ghosts - but you made it work. Most of them were in Julie’s studio, or in the park where it looked like you were on the phone having a picnic alone, but even if the rest of the world thought you were a very strange teenager having a romantic picnic alone, you knew you were there with Reggie. Another thing you had to plan around was your doctor’s appointments. Your mild case of dying from a terminal illness was still a secret, though it was getting harder to hide. You felt tired more often, woke up frequently in the middle of the night from pain that felt like it wouldn’t end. You managed to hide the flashes of pain you sometimes got from them all, but it was getting harder.
“... and honestly I’m still not sure why those hotdogs killed us!” Reggie threw his hands up as he finished a more detailed retelling of their final night alive. You had heard briefly that they were set to play the Orpheum before eating shady street ‘dogs which ultimately killed them, but you had asked if he could tell you the story with as much detail as he could remember.
You lighted slightly as you rolled your eyes and leaned back on your hands, eyes briefly pausing on the floating chairs on the ceiling of the studio.
“Maybe,” you dragged out the ‘a’ sound, smiling, “it was because they were stored next to the sauces in the engine of a shitty car. You literally got poisoned, babe.” His eyes widened and his mouth dropped slightly as if you had just told him the secret of the universe.
A sudden sharp pain blooms on your right side and your hand flies to grip it, sucking in a sharp breath. You force yourself to take slow deep breaths through your teeth, trying to diminish the pain, forgetting for a moment that Reggie is there. He stares at you with fear in his eyes, thoroughly concerned for you. Every time you take a breath too quickly or deeply, the needle-like stabbing pain returns back to full strength, and it takes a couple of minutes for the pain to finally go down enough that you can move your hand away. As you do you slowly look up at Reggie.
“Are you okay? What was that?” His hands move clearly showing how he wanted to hold you, comfort you, but can’t. Doing your best to hide that you were lying you smiled softly,
“I had really bad asthma as a kid, and sometimes I get random lung pains as a side-effect. I’m fine though, promise.” It was total bullshit. Asthma doesn’t have side-effects because it doesn’t really go away. But the biggest bullshit was the fact that you never had asthma. Luckily, though, Reggie accepted the lie, leaving a pit of guilt to build. You hated lying to him, but telling the truth would hurt so much more.
--
You had missed another first period history class because of another appointment, but Julie was helping you study to catch up. It was your fourth in as many weeks and there was an exam coming up in the next couple of weeks. Despite the fact that your time was quickly running out with four months left and so passing your classes was pointless, you had to keep up appearances, so you agreed to let Julie help you out.
But while Julie may have been one of the top in the class and an excellent tutor, the three himbos she called bandmates and you called friends were all but useful.
Luke was lying across the foot of the bed on his stomach, legs swinging in the air. Alex was drumming on Julie’s desk with pens he had stolen from you. And Reggie was sitting between you and Julie, occasionally pointing to pictures in the textbook to make a comment.
“Reginald I swear if you point at that picture of Caesar while saying salad ingredients again, I’m kicking you out of the band and replacing you with Y/N.” Julie whipped around, braided pigtails flying as she pointed at him.
“Oooh. She used your full name.” Alex teased, throwing one of the pens at him.
“You can’t replace me!” Reggie feigned insult while rubbing his forehead where the pen hit. “Besides, I was the one who taught her bass!”
“And you are an excellent teacher, and I will happily replace you.” You let out a giggle as you looked over at him.
“She’s prettier than you anyway,” Luke rested his chin on his hand and tilted his head to look up at Reggie, “you really bring down the aesthetics of the band.” Reggie stuck out his tongue before meeting your eyes.
“You are definitely prettier than me, though.” You scrunched up your nose and your cheeks went warm as they usually did when Reggie paid you a compliment. He blew you a kiss before flopping back, the bed shifting slightly.
That night, to give your parents who constantly were transporting you everywhere a break, you had a sleepover with Julie. You weren’t sure if the boys actually needed to sleep, or were just pretending, but they were scattered on the floor of Julie’s room, while you and Julie shared her bed. You had built a wall of pillows in the middle of the bed at your request, you hadn’t told her why but it was just in case you needed to get up in the middle of the night for some pain medication or to throw up, and you didn’t want to wake her if you did need to. You hadn’t told your parents about the throwing up yet, or they wouldn’t have let you stay at Julie’s. You had promised yourself that you would tell them at the next doctor’s appointment in three weeks, but as you hugged the toilet bowl, spitting the last of the foul-tasting saliva from your mouth, you knew that you wouldn’t be able to keep it from them until then.
The doctor had warned you at the beginning that as your illness progressed, you may experience vomiting, whether that be from the ever-changing medications or the progression itself, but it still sucked.
The frequency of the vomiting had increased from once a fortnight, to at least every second day two weeks prior. It sucked, especially when you knew that it meant you didn’t have as long as the doctors said left.
As you turned to move to the basin to brush your teeth, you jumped. Stood in the doorway was Reggie.
“I heard you throwing up. Are you okay?” His voice was soft again, and with your toothbrush in your mouth, you nearly caved then and there. Reggie was not someone to shy away from his feelings, but you had picked up early on that what you couldn’t read in his face, you could hear in his voice. This soft voice was one of the few reserved specifically for you, it was full of love and concern and it made you want to spill your guts every time. But you never did.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” You hated lying to him, and you hated that he couldn’t tell you were lying. “I had something for lunch that smelt funny but I thought nothing of it. Turns out I should have.” Spitting out the last of the toothpaste foam, you shrug then rinse.
“You know you can tell me anything, right?” This was the first time he ever questioned when you said you were fine. A voice in the back of your head was screaming that this was bad, but there was another telling you that maybe if he figured out you were dying, then you wouldn’t actually have to say the words.
“I know.” You wanted to hug him, kiss him, hold his hand, anything. He was incredible and you loved him. You loved him. That was the moment when you realised that you were in too deep, and in love with Reggie.
--
Your time was running out. Higher dosage of medications, more frequent trips to the doctor, vomiting almost every night. You were exhausted and it was almost impossible at this point to hide your pain from your friends and boyfriend. You had visibly paled, bags were a permanent fixture under your eyes, and even though it was the middle of spring, you always had a large jumper on because you just couldn’t get warm anymore. But still, you made an effort to go to Julie’s every Saturday to spend time with Reggie, and to give feedback on songs and performances. But even though you were counting the months, you weren’t paying attention to them anymore, which was how you managed to forget your birthday.
“Surprise!” The second the door to the studio was open, you were jumpscared. Hand to your heart, with the other gripping onto your backpack strap you let out a breathy laugh.
“Shit you guys!” Flynn wraps you in a hug before handing you over to Julie. “You scared the shit out of me.”
“Sorry,” you look over at Reggie who was apologising, but ended up staring at Alex who was pretending he wasn’t pointing at Luke, “didn’t mean to scare you so bad. “‘S all good.” You let out another laugh and blew a kiss at Reggie.
The studio is decorated with balloons and streamers in white, silver, and various shades of your favourite colour. The decoration planning was clearly done by Flynn, but with the way the streamers were twisted and almost falling, either it was executed by the boys, or they tried playing soccer in the studio again. The coffee table had half a dozen bowls of various chips, candies and snacks. In the centre was a store-bought cake with ‘Happy Birthday Y/N’ written in icing on top. A sheet had been hung from the loft with a projector on the shelf behind the couch, which had been folded out to be a bed.
After a heavily practiced and very over the top Julie and the Phantoms version of ‘happy birthday’, you, Flynn and Julie curled up on the sofa-bed, with Luke beside Julie, Reggie beside you, and Alex lying across the bottom, and a marathon of your favourite movies began.
At one point, a movie that the guys apparently knew very well played, and Alex and Luke stood up and started acting out a very dramatic scene between the two leads. The four of you left on the couch were in stitches. You and Julie had tears rolling down her cheeks and Flynn was trying to catch her breath. Reggie nearly rolled off the side of the couch, before jumping up to fill the role of a third character who had walked on screen. It was the best laugh you had had in a long time.
But it wasn’t until you couldn’t breathe in anymore without pains through your chest that you realised that something was wrong. You let out a high squeak of a gasp as you tried to get Julie’s attention.
The light-hearted scene was shattered as everyone realised that you couldn’t breath. Nobody knew what was happening, but you did. You were running out of time far more quickly than you thought.
At some point, your parents and an ambulance had been called, but you weren’t sure how long it had taken. It didn’t seem like a long time realistically, but there was no way of knowing.
The ambulance had arrived and you were given a shot of some form of steroid and the pain eased slightly, and you could breathe again. As you were being wheeled out, you didn’t look away from Reggie, who was walking beside you, wanting nothing more than to hold your hand. The paramedics were clearly not worried about the slight grabbing motion you were making with your left hand, or with the way you were looking off into the middle distance with an intense look of fear.
Just as you were loaded into the ambulance, Reggie leaned over to you.
“I love you.” The doors were shut before you could register what was said, and you were off to the hospital.
--
That night, after dozens of tests, your parents had been told to go home leaving you alone in the hospital. The doctors said you were lucky that your friends acted so quickly, but you couldn’t help but think you weren’t lucky at all. All this meant was that the next one would be worse, and if that didn’t kill you, it would keep getting worse until it did.
It was the middle of the night and you were still awake. The medication you were given to prevent more muscle spasms that caused the sharp pains could not be mixed with any form of anaesthetics or melatonin supplements. So you were told by the nurse to ‘try and get some sleep’ and left alone in a dark room.
2am and you were still lying awake, staring at the ceiling. The hospital wing had gone quiet hours ago with only the occasional night-shift nurse walking past to check on you and patients in adjoining rooms. Your mind had wandered to Reggie, as it had frequently since meeting him. But while it usually went to you daydreaming about being able to hold his hand, hug him, finally kiss him, tonight you were running lines on what you would say to him when you finally told him you were dying.
You couldn’t avoid the topic now, you were sure he knew something was wrong the first night he found you throwing up. After that night, you had nearly fainted on a couple of dates, and had missed two days of school in a row. They all knew something was up. And then there was the matter of being in love with him.
You fell for him quickly, and fell for him hard. Six months was all it took for you to know that you loved Reggie. The idea of falling in love so quickly scared you, but you were also happy that you had fallen in love with someone before dying. When you were first diagnosed, you had spent a lot of time reflecting on those childhood dreams of falling in love and getting married, and how you would never get that. All the huge societal milestones you looked forward to as a child were taken from you, the mental list scribbled out and thrown away.
Then came the matter of what would happen when you died. Would you become a ghost and spend the rest of eternity with the guys? Do you have any unfinished business? Or would you move on to whatever is after death? Would you possibly never see them again? The biggest question though was which option did you want? And if you didn’t have any unfinished business, would you get to choose to stay?
You were trying not to spiral, but in a silent room and your body not going to sleep any time soon, there was nothing to do other than think.
At some point around 3:30am your brain did a quick-change on topics - from your impending death, to the fact that Reggie had said he loved you. A lovestruck smile slowly stretched across your face and you pressed your hands to your cheeks. Reggie loved you. Reggie was in love with you. You let out a quiet giggle, trying not to wake up any of the nearby patients, and just as you did, there was a soft knock on your door. You froze, hoping it wasn’t a nurse coming in to tell you to be quiet, and watched to see if the door handle turned. Instead, Reggie, Alex and Luke walked through the door.
“Sorry!” Even though you were the only person in the hospital who could see and hear them, Alex still whisper-shouted the apology. “We thought you would be asleep, but Julie and Flynn wanted to know if you were okay.” Luke punched him in the arm as you began to sit up in your hospital bed.
“So did we!” They had made it over to your bed, Reggie on your left, taking the seat, with Luke and Alex on your right.
“Yeah but Julie basically demanded us to come and see if you were still alive.” Luke and Alex laugh at the statement, but the best you can muster is a half-hearted exhale.
“I was coming in anyway, they tagged along.” Reggie had placed his hand next to your own and had a soft seriousness to his face. He knew that while you were still alive, there was something very wrong.
“Well thank you for checking in either way.” You look away from Reggie and offer the other two a genuine smile. “Doc says I’ll be in for a couple of days, but should be out before the end of the week.” Satisfied with your answer, they both give sharp nods.
“We’ll be back tomorrow with Julie and Flynn, promise.” And with that, Luke and Alex poof away.
The room goes quiet again aside from your breathing and the high beeps of the machine reassuring you that your heart was still going. There were so many things that you wanted to say to him, so you were glad for the brief silence to try and collect your thoughts. You needed to tell him you loved him too, and you wanted to tell him that you were dying, but you couldn’t figure out which one to say first.
“I meant it, you know.” Your eyes snap from the door you had been staring at, to Reggie. “When I said I love you. Because I do. And I know it’s probably stupid to say so early, we’ve only been together what? Five months? But I really do.”
“Reg-”
“No I know but you scared the hell out of me and when they were loading you into the ambulance I just had to tell you because… I don’t know. My brain just told me that I had to tell you just in case.” He took a deep breath and looked down, his fingers flexing next to yours as they often did when he wanted to hold your hand.
“Reggie-” He cut you off again, still looking at his hands.
“No, you don’t have to say it back. I don’t want you to feel pressured into saying it.”
“Reggie stop.” You laugh lightly and he slowly looks back up to you. “I love you too.” You laugh again as he lets out a heaving sigh.
“You have no idea how badly I want to kiss you right now.” He says it with such intention and your cheeks warm quickly, looking away and pulling your bottom lip slightly between your teeth. The moment is sweet, and you feel so happy.
But like it so often does, your brain breaks the bliss with the reminder that you were dying and this bliss wouldn’t last long. Reggie noticed this change in demeanour and the huge smile he had drops too.
“Hey, are you okay?” And finally, after months of hiding it from him, you start crying and shake your head.
“I’m dying Reggie.” You say it so quietly you hope he didn’t hear, but the sound of a quick breath out is all the indication you need that he did.
“How long?” Tears still rolling down your cheeks, you turn to meet his eyes, and let out a short sarcastic snort.
“Have I got left or have I known?” It breaks your heart when you see his eyes water and a tear roll down his cheek.
“Both.” It’s a whisper and you can hear his own heart break as he says the word.
“I’ve known for two-ish years now. And at my last big bloods appointment with the doctor I was told eight months. Which gives me…” you rocked your head side to side as you quickly did the math in your head, “about two left.” Your own tears hadn’t stopped, and his only increased in frequency.
“Why didn’t you tell us?” His voice cracked on ‘us’ as he tried to keep his composure.
“The only people that knew are my parents and the school. I didn’t want to tell anyone because I guess… saying it out loud made it real.” He looks away, nodding, and his fingers flex in the direction of yours again. “I’ll tell them tomorrow, I promise.” He looked back up and smiled before wiping the tears from his chin and the tear-tracks from his cheeks. You mirrored his action before wiggling back to laying down on the bed. “Stay?” Reggie nods and curls up a bit on the chair. Your hands had returned to their positions beside each other.
“I’ll be here when you wake up.” And he did. Reggie stayed beside your bed until you finally fell asleep, and was there when you woke up.
Only, you woke up to a high tone, and people rushing around your bed. He looked at you, a look of fear and heartbreak across his face, and when you reached out for him in a panic and held his hand, you realised why.

Could I request the prompts B38 + B63 with Reggie Peters, please? Thank you so much!!
Fandom: Julie and the Phantoms
Prompts: B38. “Because I love you, you idiotic mufflehead!” + B63. “Don’t worry, you look beautiful/handsome.”
A/N: This is from the time when I was still trying to gather back my inspiration/motivation with writing so this is cringy and I fought with this for a week even after my motivation was back, but I still hope you like it!
Word count: 795
Tumblr media
It was partly your idea - a competition to gather money for charity and the prize was a dinner with the band. Their screaming fans who were obsessed over the boys were ecstatic in buying tickets, so it was a perfect idea.
It was a good idea, until some of the winning fans requested if they could have dinner with only Reggie. Reggie was flattered as expected, but you had a bad feeling about it. What if those fans would seduce your long-time crush?
“Why it concerns you if I’m going to hang out with some of our fans?” Reggie asked and you fell silent once again. “Guys, why is Y/N like this?”
Alex lifted his hands up when he passed you, Luke in tow. “That’s not our case to say but... I agree, you shouldn’t go out with those fans, but you should talk with Y/N about it...”
“Y/N?” Reggie asked again, trying to hunt for your gaze. You didn’t look at him, you couldn’t. You loved him, always had, but he didn’t love you back. It wasn’t possible. “Y/N, talk to me.”
“Leave me alone,” you muttered, trying to leave the scene but Reggie took a hold of your hand.
“No, tell me what’s wrong, we’ve been best friends since-”
“I don’t want to be friends with you anymore.” you thought, but accidentally said it aloud. That thought had been so intense for months, ever since Reggie started to gather fans who had a crush on him.
Reggie was taken aback of your words. “Wha- what? Why? What did I do wrong?”
You cringed internally by just imagining how bad that must have felt. “Reggie, I didn’t... I didn’t mean it like that.”
“How else can you mean it? Y/N, I’ve been your friend for all these years, and now you’re treating me like this?” his voice was now broken and you tried to keep your tears in, which was a bad decision, since to Reggie that seemed like you don’t care.
“You don’t own me, Y/N, I can do whatever I want, have fun with whoever I wan’t and-”
“It’s not that!” you interrupted him and he swallowed.
“What is it then? Jealousy that I don’t spend all my time with-”
“I don’t want you to go because I love you, you idiotic mufflehead!” you screamed, not believing he wasn’t aware of that by now. You had been flirting with him for months, trying to get his attention and his bandmates sent pitying glances at you and sometimes you saw them muttering something to Reggie, trying to usher him at you, but he was the most clueless person ever when it came to this.
“You- what?” Reggie’s eyes were wide open now, a perfect contrast to the confusion and hurt he had been feeling just moments ago.
You must’ve looked silly and a bit scary, your eyeliner all over your face, and you started wiping your eyes to a tissue, taking some deep sighs in to calm yourself.
“I know what those fans are after. One of them will seduce you and you’ll fall in love with them. I know I’m selfish, but I don’t want to remember you as the guy who unintentionally broke my heart... if you dated someone else than me, I’d leave the band. I’m sorry, I couldn’t bear seeing you cuddling with anyone else.“ you sniffled and wiped away your eyeliner with your hand as it was making its way to your eye, but only smudging it to look more messy and ugly and you groaned. “I look terrible.”
“No, you don’t.” Reggie told you and made you look at him. “You’re beautiful.”
You scoffed. “You’re just saying that to calm me down.”
“I’ve been in love with you ever since we met. I just didn’t know how to approach you. And don't worry, you look beautiful." he smiled, taking a hold of your hand and helped you to clean out your eyeliner, and he muttered, “Actually, you’re the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen.”
You blushed at that, and let out a nervous laugh. Alex looked like he was going to faint from exhaustion as they finally accomplished their mission, the three had tried to get you two together for the longest time. They had tried to get you to confess it straight to Reggie’s face, tried to get Reggie confess it straight to your face, they had tried to set you two up for a date, but both of you were always clueless what they were doing.
But now their work seemed to finally pay out as they watched you two sitting side by side on one of the larger speakers. It was the beginning of a beautiful relationship - and so worth all the effort.

___
You hadn’t meant to fall in love with a hologram boy from Sweden, you really hadn’t. It had just sort of happened.
Who could blame you though? You were pretty sure everyone in the gym fell at least a little bit in love with the band when they appeared as if by magic behind Julie that day. You, however, fell completely for the bassist.
You were first struck by his looks. Sure, the brunet and blond boys were cute but there was something about the bassist. His dark, styled hair and leather jacket over the red flannel. Your first thought was that he was hot, and then he smiled and your heart melted.
You could tell just by the way he performed and interacted with the crowd and his bandmates that he wore his emotions on his face and his heart on his sleeve. Then he sent a wink in your direction as he played.
You were hooked from then on.
You had so many questions for Julie when you got to your shared bio class. You’d somehow managed to be lab partners for two years in a row now and you worked quite well together so you didn’t feel like you were taking advantage of your situation to get information about the boy.
She told you his name was Reggie and that they were actually from Sweden. You’d been disappointed but unfortunately the fact that you’d probably never be able to meet each other let alone communicate didn’t stop your crush from developing.
You continued to inquire about him when you met at her house to study for tests or work on homework. She’d always tell you what you wanted to know but would always remind you, nicely, that you didn’t have a chance.
“I just don’t want you to get hurt, Y/N,” she’d say sincerely but you would wave her off.
“It’s just a harmless celebrity crush.”
“We’re not celebrities!” Julie would protest  and you’d grin.
“Not yet, you aren’t,” you would remind her, confident in the fact that her band was going places. “But when you go big and the whole world falls in love with those cute Swedish boys I’ll be able to say I was the first Reggie girl.”
You’d both laugh at that before returning to whatever school work you were working on.
You went to every performance you could as well, unable to get enough of the cute bassist and loving the band’s sound. You’d made it to their last-minute coffee shop gig and Julie’s garage party. The girl had even managed to score you a ticket to their Orpheum performance, knowing how big of a fan you were.
___
While Luke was going out of his mind trying to navigate his feelings and relationships it Julie, Reggie had an even bigger problem. He hadn’t been able to get you out of his mind since he’d first seen you in Julie’s school’s gymnasium. He asked Julie about you all the time and would often sit next to you on the couch when you came over to study. He knew you couldn’t see or hear him but he liked spending time with you, much like he did with Ray. Sometimes he’d help you when you got stuck on a problem since bio was one of his favorite subjects in school. You couldn’t hear him but Julie could and it always made him feel warm to know he helped you out.
His situation with you was worsened by the fact that he knew you had a crush on him as well. He heard you ask Julie about him (most of the time he would feed her the answers to your questions so you could know more about him) and he also heard you gush about how cute and talented you thought he was and how unfair it was that he lived in Sweden. He knew in the back of his head that telling you they were from Sweden was actually a smart idea, but he resented his friend for the choice as it meant you’d never know that he was there with you and interested in you too.
Luke had it easy, he often thought frustratedly. At least Julie and Luke could see each other and communicate. Reggie had to get by on the eye contact and smiles she gave him during their gigs. The hardest one had been the Orpheum when he had been sure that it was the last time they’d ever see each other again. It broke his heart when he disappeared after their bows, sending you one last smile and a wink like at their first performance.
When Julie saved them in the barn he couldn’t help but feel relieved. Sure things would still be difficult, but the two of you would be able to make eye contact and share smiles again. He just didn’t realize how soon or often.
___
The day after the Orpheum performance you made your way to the Molina’s garage, having arranged to meet up with Julie to study for your upcoming exam. You let yourself in, sending a text to Julie to let her know you were there. You jumped slightly when you looked up from your phone and noticed she wasn’t alone. Standing in the studio fiddling with a bass was Reggie himself.
“Oh my gosh, um, hi,” you said, shocked at the sight of the boy in front of you. “Oh, um, I’m sorry. Do you speak English?”
“Yeah, why wouldn’t I speak English?” He asked, tilting his head slightly in confusion.
“Oh, well, Julie said you guys were from Sweden so....”
“Ohh, right! Yeah, that’s us, the Swedish hologram band,” he chuckled nervously and you narrowed your eyes suspiciously.
“Wow, you don’t have an accent at all,” you scrutinized and he chewed his lip nervously.
“Y/N! You’re here! Ready to work on that lab?” Julie called as she stepped into the studio, heading straight to the couch where they usually worked and setting up her materials.
“Uh, yeah,” you said, puzzled by her actions. She didn’t even stop to look at Reggie. “You didn’t tell me your bandmates were coming in from Sweden.”
“What?” She asked, looking up from her materials. When she locked eyes with Reggie her eyes widened. “You can see him?”
“Yes, I can see your bandmate who speaks perfect English and has no accent whatsoever,” you said, raising your brow to indicate your suspicions. “The jig is up, Molina. Spill.”
“Okay,” Julie sighed, “You’d better sit down though.”
The three of them made their way to the couch, sitting in the same arrangement (unbeknownst to you) that you’d been sitting in for weeks now with you sandwiched between the two musicians. From this close up you could see the freckles that dotted Reggie’s cheeks and nose and the different flecks of colors in his blue eyes. Your breath caught in your throat as he smiled lightly at you, your eyes locking.
“Okay, lovebirds, you’ll have time to stare dreamily into each other’s eyes later,” Julie said, and you felt heat immediately rise to your cheeks as you looked down at your lap. “So, this is gonna sound crazy but you have to go with me on this, okay?”
You nodded, turning to look at your friend curiously.
“They’re ghosts,” she said and your eyes widened at the explanation, looking back and forth between Julie and Reggie. “They died twenty-five years ago and somehow I brought them back.”
“This is insane,” you said, trying to keep an open mind but not believing it.
“It’s true,” Reggie said somewhat solemnly and you turned to stare at him in confusion. “Oh, Julie! Show her the article about our deaths!”
Julie nodded, pulling out her phone and pulling up a webpage before handing it to you. The headline read Sunset Curve: A Hollywood Tragedy. The article detailed the tragic death of three-fourths of the band Sunset Curve right before their performance at the Orpheum in 1995. As you scrolled down you found a picture of three boys who were unmistakably Luke, Reggie, and Alex.
“You’re ghosts.” You said quietly, handing Julie her phone back. “If you’re dead how come I can see you?”
“Well, I don’t really know,” Reggie admitted. “Only Julie was able to see us before but some weird stuff happened last night so maybe it has to do with that?”
“Weird stuff?”
“We were able to touch,” Julie explained. “Before then we just passed through each other.”
“Yeah! Our souls were going to be destroyed but then Julie saved us with a magic hug!” Reggie added and your eyebrows shot up.
“Okay you’re gonna have to back up and explain all that,” you laughed and Reggie grinned, immediately launching into a detailed and dramatic retelling of the events of the last few weeks. How they’d come back as ghosts, found out they could still perform with Julie and that their old bandmate had betrayed them. You gasped at all the right places when he told you about meeting Caleb and the curse he put on them. When he explained the significance of their Orpheum performance and how upset he’d been when he thought you wouldn’t see each other again.
You couldn’t quite believe it but, well, a literal ghost was telling it to you so you supposed it came with the territory. You weren’t sure when, but at some point in your conversation Julie had excused herself, leaving you and Reggie to talk alone.
“So, you were sad you wouldn’t see me again?” You asked curiously, trying to fight the heat rising to your cheeks at the implication.
“Devastated!” Reggie exclaimed, before quieting down as he realized the connotations. His cheeks turned red and he had to fight to look you in the eyes as he continued. “I’ve had a crush on you since we performed Bright at your assembly.”
Your eyes widened at the confession and you beamed.
“Really? I’ve had a crush on you for just as long,” you admitted shyly.
“Oh, I know!” Reggie beamed, and you stared at him. “I, uh, may have heard you talking to Julie about me on multiple occasions.”
“That’s so embarrassing,” you groaned, putting your face in your hands to hide from the boy.
“Hey, I thought it was adorable and really sweet,” Reggie reassured you, reaching out to gently pull your hands away from your face.
“Reg, you’re touching me,” you gasped as you looked down at your hands with were still held in his.
You gasped softly again when you looked back up and found his eyes studying you thoughtfully. There was something in his eyes that you could only describe as intense as you stared at one another, faces subconsciously moving closer together until their noses were nearly touching.
“Does that mean I can kiss you?” Reggie asked softly, squeezing your hands lightly and eyes flicking to your lips before returning to your own.
“I’d like to find out,” you whispered back.
As soon as the words were fully out of your mouth Reggie surged forward, connecting your lips. The kiss was soft and sweet, one of your hands slipping from his to reach up and cup his cheek. It was over all too soon but it was worth it to see the smile that broke out across his face. His hand came up to cover yours that was still resting on his cheek, his thumb softly stroking the back of your hand.
“That was nice,” you breathed and he nodded in agreement.
“Wanna do it again?” He asked brightly and you laughed, reconnecting your lips.
“Woah! Hey!” Julie exclaimed as she walked back into the garage. “I left so you’d have privacy to get to know each other, not get to know each other’s mouths!”
The two of you jumped apart, your face heating up in embarrassment once again. You chanced a glance at Reggie and found his face red with embarrassment but the ghost boy was grinning cheekily at Julie. She rolled her eyes at the boy before shooing him away.
“We have an exam to study for!” She reasoned as she pulled him from the couch, attempting to push him through the garage door.
She’d nearly managed it when Reggie poofed from her grasp and back to his place on the couch, leaning over to give you a quick peck on your cheek. He called out a goodbye as he ran from the garage, not wanting to face the wrath of Julie and you laughed, waving at him until Julie closed the door, blocking him from your view.

Pairing: Reggie x Reader
Requested: Yes
Original Request: “Could I request a Reggie x male reader. Where he’s Julie's brother and after their mom’s death he picked up painting and he can see Reggie and stuff and Reggie just hangs around him and makes him laugh and stuff.”
A/N: Not going to lie, I’m not super happy with this one but it’s been sitting in my drafts for weeks so I decided I just needed to finish it and get it posted. I hope you guys like it anyway!
-----------------------------
The first day you met Reggie was a few days after Julie started singing again. You’d been in your room alone, staring blankly at an empty canvas. You had been meaning to work on your painting for your art class for weeks now, but you hadn’t been able to think of what to paint. Every day, you’d pull out your brushes and lay out your paints, but day after day the canvas remained just as blank as the day before.
Then one day as you were contemplating the way the colors should've been blooming over the canvas by now, a voice sounded from behind you. “Oh, a painter, huh? Man, this whole family is so talented!”
You twisted around to face the voice, eyes widening as you came face to face with a boy you’d never met. He seemed to be about your age, with dark hair that’d been slicked back out of his face and curious dark brown eyes that were fixed on you. “Who- who are you?”
His eyes widened almost comically, “You can see me?”
“Why wouldn’t I be able to?” You replied, glancing around warily, half expecting a camera crew to pop out and tell you that you’d been pranked.
The stranger blinked, clearly having anticipated not getting a response, “I, um, I’m not-” His brows furrowed as he struggled to find the words, “My name is Reggie, and I died in 1995,” he eventually forced out.
“Oh.” It was definitely a little far-fetched for your taste, but it would explain why you hadn’t heard your door open when he entered and why his clothes looked a little outdated. “Right.” Your brows furrowed as you turned your gaze back to your blank canvas, “Should I ask why a ghost is here to haunt me or should I just call Doctor Turner?”
The brunet laughed, flopping onto your bed behind you and propping his head up on his hands as he watched you, “Nah, you don’t need a therapist. We were just waiting on Julie to get home from Flynn’s and I got bored.”
You raised an eyebrow pointedly as you glanced back at him, “We?” You hesitated as the rest of his words caught up to you, “And why do you know my sister?”
Reggie brightened, “Oh! I forgot to tell you; I’m here with my band! Julie freed us from where we’d been trapped in limbo for twenty-five years!” He smirked a little, tugging at the lapels of his leather jacket and grinned up at you, “Now we’re trying to get Julie to join our band so we can still perform. She’s really talented! Your whole family is really great at what they do.” His eyes drifted past you to your empty canvas, “What’re you painting?”
You sighed as you followed his gaze, moving to sit next to him on the edge of your bed. “I don’t know.” Your eyes dropped to the paintbrush clutched in your hands and you started twisting it idly between your fingers just to give yourself something to do, “I haven’t been able to figure out what to paint since my mom-” You were unable to finish, but Reggie seemed to know what you meant.
“Right,” Reggie was quiet for a moment as he stared thoughtfully at your canvas, his brows furrowed. “How about the sky?”
You blinked, confused by the sudden suggestion. “The sky?”
“Yeah,” Reggie cheered, grinning widely, “I always used to go look at the sunset when I was feeling lost. It would remind me that no matter how big my problems seemed, they weren’t going to last forever. Maybe painting it will do the same for you.”
You made a thoughtful sound as you turned back to your canvas, fingers itching toward your palate of paints for the first time in what felt like ages. "Maybe it will…" you murmured, quickly picking up your favorite pencil and starting to sketch out an outline as the big picture started to come together in your mind.
Reggie grinned as he watched you, but eventually got to his feet and started wandering back toward the door. "Julie should be back soon so I’ve got to get to practice, but I look forward to seeing your masterpiece.”
It took you a moment to realize what he’d said and he was nearly out the door when you called after him. “Hey, Reggie?”
He turned back to face you, brows raised inquisitively, “Yeah?”
You struggled to come up with what you could say to express how thankful you really were. “Thank you,” you said eventually.
Reggie smiled brightly, tugging at the collar of his leather jacket, “Absolutely! I’m glad I could help!” He turned away, heading for the door again.
You turned back to your painting as he made to leave, but called after him anyway. “Hey, um-” You bit your lip, wincing at the awkwardness of what you were trying to say, “If you ever want to come back and keep me company while I paint, you’re welcome to.”
It took the ghost a moment to realize what you meant, but his excitement was plain to see. “Yeah!” he cheered, eyes crinkling at the corners from how hard he was smiling at you. “Yeah, I’d love that!” He paused as realization struck him, glancing over at the door forlornly, “I really have to get going or they’re going to go looking for me, but I’ll be back later, okay?”
He waited for you to acknowledge his statement before disappearing with a wave and a flash of light. You were a little disappointed that he’d left, but you were sure that you’d beaten your artist’s block. And hey, even if you hadn’t gotten past it permanently, you knew your new muse would come back for you.

GHOST NEXT DOOR
Tumblr media
PT. 2
SUMMARY - For years, you have been living next to Julie with your sister. Everything changes for you and Luke when you meet each other.
GENRE - fluff
A/N - I hope I didn’t mess up the timeline. If there are any mistakes, message me :) Btw the song the reader is singing is a random poem I wrote while writing this one-shot.
Y/N - your name
Y/L - your last name
E/C - eye color
H/C - hair color
L/C - lip color
Rehearsal had just finished, and the boys were still swimming in the high from playing, which was their favorite thing in the whole world. They truly loved the music they made together, and they loved playing it to make other people happy.
''That was tight. Alex, you were great!'': Luke praised the blushing drummer. ''No, that was just the thing I always do.'': Alex denied the approval he had deserved since he joined the band back in the 1990s. ''Why don't you just own it?'': Questioned Reggie, who was holding a towel in his right hand and a water bottle in the left. ( I don't know if they can drink, so go with it.)
The two boys were so submerged in their conversation that they didn't notice the soft, energetic rock music coming from the light-yellow neighboring house. Luke tuned out the on-going talking and concentrated on the music he was hearing.
His mind was swimming in the music while his feet carried him closer and closer to the cute house. Luke didn't even notice that he had been standing under a small balcony for quite some time. He let the music, coming from the inside of the house, consume him.
''Why not just sit back and enjoy, why not just ditch school today?'': sang a woman from the radio. There was a beautiful voice, who was singing over the record. ''Let's just stay in this state of ecstasy, leave all the worries and thoughts behind.'': continued the girl.
It seemed like the girl with the angelic voice was dancing around the room while singing. ''This must be her favorite song,'': Luke thought to himself, already liking the music she was listening to. While spinning around the room, the H/C-haired girl stumbled out onto the balcony.
They both froze when they noticed each other. Luke took a closer look at the girl - she had H/C hair, which was flowing in the slight wind, sparkling E/C, and bright L/C lips. ''Hi, who are you?'': she questioned, bringing him out of his stare.
''Oh, I'm Luke, uhh, what's your name?'': Luke managed to stutter out, feeling more and more embarrassed by each passing second. The E/C-eyed girl lightly chuckled at his response and replied: "My name's Y/N, Y/N Y/L. Nice to meet you. Do you live somewhere near here? If the music is too loud I can turn it down.'': she rambled, making Luke smile softly at her.
''No, nothing's wrong with the music, I like that song you have on. And yeah, I live next door,'' He said while pointing in the direction of Julie's house,'' Sort of''. Luke had whispered the last part so she couldn't hear it. ''Wait, you can really see me?'': Luke asked, shocked.
''Of course, silly.'': responded Y/N. ''Sweet!'': He yelled cheerfully. Thet seemed to amuse her because she let out a light chuckle. ''SO, want to tell me the reason why I wasn't supposed to see you?'': Asked Y/N, smiling softly.
''Yeah, umm, this might sound a little crazy, but I'm a ghost. Not like the ones that go ''boo''.'': Luke explained, while the girl was listening closely to every word he said. '' That's cool, I have a cute ghost living next door!'': she exclaimed cheerfully, making Luke grin.
''So, why are you here? Standing under my balcony  than doing something with other hosts that don't go ''boo''?'': Y/N confronted the lightly blushing ghost. ''Me and my bandmates just finished rehearsal, and I heard your lovely voice and came to see who was singing, so here we are.'': Luke explained to the H/C-haired girl.
''You play in a band? Mind if I drop by sometime to listen to you and your ghost friends?'': Asked the beautiful, E/C-eyed girl. ''Of course, I'm sure they wouldn't mind if such a pretty girl as yourself graced us with your presence.'': Joked Luke, blushing after he realized what he had said.
Attempting to make him feel better, Y/N stated: '' Well, I wouldn't mind coming by to listen to a handsome ghost and his spirit band play music.'' After those two sentences, the pair were left with flustered red faces.
''Umm, so I have to go, but I'll look forward to seeing you again, Y/N.'': exclaimed Luke while waving goodbye. ''I can't wait to hear you play!'': yelled Y/N after Luke's retreating figure.
''A ghost next door,'': Whispered the H/C-haired girl to herself before heading inside.

Our Stars Collided- Part 1
Tumblr media
THIS IS THE SURPRISE IM WRITING A JATP SERIES AND IM SO EXCITED. This first one kinda sucks at first, but I swear it gets better the more you get into it.
Words: 2.1k
Summary: The reader has been wondering who the phantoms in the band are. But when she comes face to face with a phantom will she get her answers? (This does not follow all the events of the series)
Pairing: Luke x reader
Warnings: none, except bad writing
...........................................
You had lunch this period, you were one track minded in that moment, and b-lining for the cafeteria. But as you passed the lockers your half run nearly turned to a stop.
You had made eye contact with none other than the cute boy from Julie's hologram band. Except every single person in the hallway was acting like they couldn't see him. Which in their defense, they probably couldn't, you were probably going insane.
According to Julie they were holograms. But when everyone else had gasped in shock that they had suddenly disappeared, you continued to watch them. And yet no one else noticed. From that moment on you were convinced yourself that it had been a figment of your imagination. Until now, that was.
You figured it might raise suspicion if you continued staring into what everyone else believed to be nothing. So you hid behind a pole and watched.
Julie seemed to be just talking on the phone to everyone else. But you watched as she continued on her conversation with the supposed hologram. Their conversation wasn't anything interesting, it seemed to just be about what song they were playing in a few weeks; and the boy apologized for being somewhat difficult to work with. As you watched, another sophomore, named Nick approached. You peeked around the pole to see where the boy went and saw that he was staring right at you.
You flew back behind your hiding place. You felt your pulse quickening though you weren't sure if it was because you were afraid he'd seen you or for a different reason entirely.
After you'd calmed yourself down you opened your eyes, you saw the boy standing right in front of you, only a couple feet away. You clapped a hand over your mouth to keep yourself from screaming.
Wait, you can see me?" the boy asked. He sounded just as freaked out as you felt.
You nodded your head, with your hand still on your mouth.
The boy's eyes went wide for a moment. But then he looked like he was deep in thought. "Why can you see me?" he asked curiously.
Your expression went blank for a moment. How could you answer a question you didn't even know? Also did someone give you drugs, or was this actually happening?
"I have no idea, also are you even real?" You asked. You reached out to poke his shoulder, and you felt nothing. "Nope, I'm definitely imagining this," you said aloud to yourself.
You turned and started to walk away. "Wait!" the boy yelled.
"Yes, imaginary person who I have probably made up in my head?" you asked.
He talked as he walked to catch up with you. "I'm real, I'm very, very real. I'm just also dead."
You crossed your arms and faced him. "So you're a ghost?" you asked.
"Yes."
You crossed your arms. "So prove it, how do I know you're not a figment of my imagination?"
The boy paused for a moment to think. "Umm I know there's a student named Julie that goes here and she has fourth period dance class, and you probably don't know that, so how would a figment of your imagination know that?" After finishing his trail of thought the boy looked over at you with a hopeful smile.
You thought over it for a moment which was mildly difficult with that face looking at you. "Yeah, okay, that adds up I suppose." His smile turned into a slight smugness that he had convinced you.
"See, I told you I was real."
You pushed down the heat attempting to rise to your cheeks.
"But how?" you asked.
"Wellllllllll that's a little bit more of a complicated question," Luke explained, as he itched the back of his head.
Somehow, you were still getting more confused. "How is it complicated?"
"That's kinda a long story. But, I can explain some of it," he offered.
You gestured to him that the floor was his.
"Oh, not right now because I'm pretty sure I've made like at least five people think you're crazy already." He gestured around to people at their lockers who were staring at you.
"But I can tell you later, if you meet me at Julie's house, after school," he promised.
"Okay, yeah, I'm not doing anything, and I've been there before so I know where it is," you agreed.
"Cool! I never caught your name by the way," he mentioned.
"Oh it's y/n, and you are?"
"Luke, and I'll see you then!" He waved at you and in a poof he was gone.
It was definitely not a normal way to start your lunch. But you supposed that from the day that they had performed your life hadn't been normal.
Three hours later you found yourself standing in front of Julie Molina's house. You were silently hoping that this was the right house, because that would be a very interesting conversation if it wasn't. Luckily enough, Julie was the one who opened the door.
"Hi, um I'm here to see Luke?" you hesitantly asked.
"Oh yeah, he told me about you, come on I’ll show you where he is.” She closed the door and started leading you through a garden, as you tried not to read too deeply into what she had said. Eventually, you walked down a set of steps to some sort of studio. As she opened the wide white entrance doors you saw all three of the guys you had watched play with Julie a week ago.
You stood in shock for a moment. So you hadn’t been seeing things! You only came back to reality when you heard Julie say your name.
“Meet Reggie, Alex, and you already met Luke. So Reggie and Alex, meet y/n,” she introduced.
“Hello!” Reggie waved.
“Hi,” said Alex.
“Hi,” you responded.
“So now is your time to ask questions without someone thinking you are going insane,” Luke offered, as he sat down on a couch.
“Okay, so you guys are ghosts, right?”
The three all nodded their heads.
“But for some reason Julie and I can see you?” you observed.
“Yes, but we don’t actually know the reason for that. Or to a lot of things for that matter. But we think it might mean that you two are related to our pasts in some sort of way,” the one you remembered to be Alex, suggested.
“Okay, interesting. Do you know why people can see you when you play?” you inquired.
“No, I mean we think it’s because we are connected to Julie and that we are still connected with music, but other than that we have no idea,” Luke said.
You continued asking them questions for quite some time, until you couldn’t think of anything anymore. Granted, there was still a lot you didn’t know, but that was fine with you. Afterall, asking someone how they died felt a little too personal; even if they did make you think you were losing your mind for a week straight.
Eventually your conversation diverged into other matters like school, and music, and of course food.
“You play the guitar?” Luke asked in surprise.
You turned to him from a conversation you were having with Alex. “I mean, I’m not as good as you, but yes,” you admitted.
“Wait, you play guitar TOO?” Reggie asked in awe.
You had to laugh at the sudden fascination with you. “Yes, I do.”
Reggie seemed to be ecstatic. “You have to play something; here, use Luke’s guitar,” he offered.
Alex lightly slapped his arm and you watched the corner of your eye as Luke muttered something along the lines of what the hell Reggie.
“It’s okay, I don’t wanna steal someone else’s equipment, and I usually only play in my room by myself. Besides, you probably don’t wanna hear me anyways,” you pointed out.
“You don’t have to play, but that’s b.s. I’ve heard you’d play and you’re obviously talented,” Julie chimed in. You were slightly embarrassed but you accepted the compliment. Soon enough your conversation died down and it was decided that you should probably head back home as it was getting late. You waved goodbye to the boys and told Julie you would see her tomorrow.
As you ate supper, you realized that even though you had one of the most eventful days in history you could tell no one about it, including your family. Otherwise they would think you were just as insane as you thought you were. But you supposed there were worse problems to have then knowing a band that you couldn’t talk about.
As you got ready for bed you decided to bring out your acoustic guitar.
You started strumming before realizing there was a particular song you hadn’t played in a long while. It took you a couple attempts to remember the fingering for it, but once you did the music started to flow out of you.
“When the rain is blowing in your face, and the whole world is on your case. I could offer you a warm embrace to make you feel my love.”
You then jumped to the melody at a higher octave. You decided to go all out and sing it to your heart's content.
“I know you haven’t made your mind up yet, but I would never do you wrong. I’ve known it from the moment that we met. No doubt in my mind where you belong.”
You strummed a couple more chords before placing your guitar down. You turned around and came inches away from Luke’s face.
“Shit!” you yelled on instinct. You paused for a moment to make sure no one had heard you, but you didn’t hear anything.
“What are you two doing here?” you hissed.
Reggie was the first to open his mouth. “Well uh you see here, we actually have a very good reason for being here. Yep, and Luke’s going to tell you that reason.” He clapped his bandmate on the shoulder, and Luke glared at him.
“Y/n I’m really sorry, but he really wanted to hear you play. And I was super curious too, and we just couldn’t resist,” Luke apologized.
You took a look at them still wanting to be mad, but you couldn’t bring yourself to do it. They looked not unlike sad puppies.
You fake sighed, but you couldn’t fight the smile on your face. “I guess I can let you guys off the hook this time.”
“I swear it won’t happen again,” Reggie promised.
“Next time just knock instead of scaring the shit out of me, okay?” you asked.
“You got it, though I can’t say we won’t scare you. I mean we are ghosts,” Luke teased, with a glint in his eyes that you couldn’t figure out.
You amusedly rolled your eyes at him, “Whatever, Luke.”
The next day you couldn’t really focus on your clases. All you could think about were theories on why you could see Alex, Reggie, and Luke and why everyone else couldn’t. By the time lunch rolled around you were very thankful Julie was in the same lunch period as you.
“Hey!” she greeted you.
“What’s up?” you asked, shutting your locker.
“Just something I want to show you, follow me,” she gestured. You didn’t know where she was taking you but you just shrugged and went with it. She led you over to the next set of lockers and down a set of steps to a pretty much vacant part of the school. And once you turned the corner you heard a very loud ‘surprise!’
“Aeeehp!” you yelled in shock.
“Oh my god, you guys have got to stop doing that,” you said to the three.
“Yeah, they never do,” Julie sighed.
“But anyways, we brought you down here to tell you, drumroll please?” Julie requested.
They all started stomping their feet.
“We want you to join Julie and the Phantoms!” Alex announced.
“Wait, what?” you excitedly asked.
“Well after the little stunt that Luke and Reggie pulled, which I do not approve of by the way,” she sent a glare back at the two of them, “we had a band meeting and decided that we want you in the band, that is of course if you want to be in the band?”
You were positively beaming. “Yes of course I do! But what do you want me to do? You already have two singers and an electric guitarist.”
“Well we always have room for more singing, and I’m just lead guitar. We used to have three guitars in sunset curve, so why not in Julie and the Phantoms?” Luke questioned.
“I’m game if you guys are.”
“So you’re in?” Reggie asked.
You smiled brightly, “I’m so in.”

Vanilla Twilight
Pairing: Reggie Peters X Reader
Fandom: Julie and the Phantoms
T/W: Brief abuse mention, a tiny fight (Reader throws the first and only punch.)
A/N: I’m sorry it’s late! My friends had been gone for the weekend and got back last night, so I decided to spend some time with them, but here’s this! I was listening to Vanilla Twilight by Owl City when the idea hit me.
-----------
Tumblr media
He hadn’t slept in two days. Reggie hated when these days hit. The days where you were all he could think about and he couldn’t sleep because of the thoughts of you keeping him awake. For once it wasn’t the loud voices of his parents ringing in his head, they had fallen silent, only after one of them (his father, Reggie knew) stormed out of the house, peeling out of the driveway, and most likely heading to the bar. No, it was one of the nights that his thoughts were consumed by you.
You had been his best friend for as long as he could remember. You were the one that he would come to when his parents’ fighting became too much. You were the only one, other than his other friends and bandmates, who had seen him when things became too much. Recently, Reggie had realized that his love for you had eventually grown to more of a romantic love, rather than just the familial way he had for a good chunk of his life.
Of course, it was Reggie’s luck that his realization hit him after you had already found someone else who made you happy. You had been dating your boyfriend for three months by the time Reggie realized what the burning feeling he felt in his chest each time he looked at you was.
And because you were his best friend, he would let you go. You seemed happy. Reggie could deal with someone else holding you if it meant that bright smile would forever stay on your face.
It didn’t matter that he spent his time thinking about what things could be if he’d only figured these feelings out sooner. It didn’t matter that he wished that you would notice him looking at you. It didn’t matter that he felt like you were spending less and less time with him. It didn’t matter that he would lie awake at night and miss you. It didn’t matter that watching the sky change from blue to the oranges and reds wasn’t the same, because it took two to whisper quietly.
You were all that mattered to Reggie. More than anything. More than-
He was pulled from his thoughts by a soft knock on his window. He crawled out of the blanket cocoon he had made for himself and padded softly over to the window. He gasped as he pulled the curtains back.
You were there, with tear stained cheeks, a red mark bright on one, and your eyes were puffy and red. Your hair was frazzled, and he didn’t know how you had managed to climb the lattice to get to the roof outside his window with how much your hands were shaking. He unlocked and opened the window, (the screen was long gone from many nights of Reggie sneaking out or you sneaking in through the window) words instantly tumbling from his mouth.
“What are you doing here? Are you okay? What’s happened to your cheek?” you flinched away from him when the boy reached out to touch the red mark, and Reggie felt his heart drop. You never flinched from him. Something happened, and he wasn’t happy with the outcome that had developed from it.
“I’m sorry, Reg. I know we normally plan these things out, but I couldn’t stand to stay with him, and I can’t go home. Not with a mark on my face.” You were one of the few friends he had who had a relatively stable home life. You loved your parents and they loved you, and things  were good. It’s one reason why Reggie enjoyed going over to your house, because your parents would treat him as if he was their child as well, and he felt like he was a part of something good.
“What happened, Y/N?” Reggie asked, keeping his voice low, no matter how much he wanted to scream. He knew at least one of his parents was home, and he didn’t want to draw their attention, not to mention he didn’t want to scare you off, you looked like you would take off at the slightest misstep. Reggie didn’t want that.
“He hit me, Reggie. We were arguing, and he raised his voice and hit me. He’s never done that before.”
Reggie felt anger boiling in his chest, but he kept it at bay, opting instead to focus on you. “Oh honey.” He murmured softly, and held his arms out. You didn’t hesitate before you threw yourself against his chest, your tears coming stronger than they had been. Reggie wrapped you up in his arms, one hand resting on your back and holding you close while the other stroked through your hair.
You were babbling into his chest, quick and muffled enough that Reggie could only make out a few of the words that you were saying.
“If he did it once…..I broke…..going nowhere….can’t believe….seen the signs…. I was so stupid.”  Reggie shook his head, pulling back from you only enough to look down at you.
“Absolutely not, Y/N. You’re not stupid. You didn’t know. Chaz really didn’t seem like the type that would.” he didn’t continue. You didn’t need a lecture right now, you needed your friend. Someone to sit with you and help you feel better. He led you over to the side of his bed, pushing you gently so you were sitting down on the edge of the bed. Luckily, it was Saturday, so neither of you had to worry about getting up early in the morning and try to make it through a school day with this hanging over you. He turned from you.
The two of you had been friends for so long that staying over in each other’s rooms was just a natural thing in your life. That being said, Reggie had a drawer of his dresser that was dedicated to you and the clothes that you would leave there for impromptu sleepover nights. That wasn’t the drawer that he got into. Instead, he pulled out your favorite shirt of his, a goofy rodeo shirt that you had gotten him one year as a present. He knew you liked to be wrapped up in something familiar when you were upset, and he hoped this would be good enough for you. He also grabbed a pair of pajama pants and turned back to you, handing the clothes to you.
Reggie hummed in response to your thanking him, turning around to let you change in peace. When you were done, he took your other clothes from you, dropping them into the hamper that sat in the corner of his room. He untangled the blankets from each other, holding them up for you so you could crawl under the covers.
During this small, familiar ritual, the both of you were quiet. Even in your distressed state, you didn’t miss the irony of the moment. Usually, everything that Reggie was doing for you, you would do for him on the nights he would come over to your home in the dead of night, bleary eyed and vacant, when his parents fighting got to be too much for him. You couldn’t recall the last time that the roles were reversed like this. Or the last time the two of you had done this. While you were with Chaz, Reggie had kept his distance, not once coming over as he did before.
You climbed into the familiar bed, curling on the far side of the bed. You felt the bed shift as Reggie climbed in behind you. He reached out, a hesitant hand resting on your hip. You turned, and rather than facing the open room, you turned to face Reggie. He pulled you closer to him, and you settled against his chest, letting more tears fall. Reggie would let you cry and cling to him for as long as you needed, never once judging you.
Once the tears had subsided enough, and your breathing seemed to even out, Reggie thought you had finally fallen asleep. He shifted the covers, pulling them more securely around the two of you, making sure you were protected from the cold air of the room around you. He pressed a soft kiss to your forehead, before resting his cheek on the top of your head.
In different circumstances, having you wrapped up in his arms like this would make him sleep peacefully through the night, but knowing that you were hurting, that you were upset made everything different. Reggie wanted to protect you. That had always been his goal. And now here you were, and he had failed in that goal. He wanted to wash all of your pain away and make you feel special again.
He fell into an uneasy sleep, waking each time you shifted next to him. He wanted to make sure that you were still there each time, that you were okay, and that he was doing all he could for you at the moment.
------
You were the first to wake up the next morning, the sunlight from the window streaming into your face. You blinked, not fully registering your surroundings at first. Slowly, the events from the night before came flooding back to you, and you felt your heart break all over again. You had truly believed that Chaz was the one. You loved him with the pieces of your heart that weren’t already dedicated to your boys. But clearly he didn’t think the same thing about you. His words came streaming back to you, making you wince and cuddle closer to the warm body next to you.
“Ungrateful little thing. After all the time and effort I put into making this work, and trying to thaw that god-damned frozen heart of yours, you’re gonna run off on me and spend time with those boys?”
“What are you talking about? I’m not running off with anyone.”
“Yeah fucking right. You can’t spend all that time with those posers and then turn around and tell me you aren’t going behind my back and seeing one of them.”
“I’m not! You’re not listening-”
CRACK!
“No! You’re the one not listening to me.”
“You just hit me!”
“I should have done it when I first realized.”
“You know what, we’re done. This is done. I can’t stay here anymore.”
“Good! Get out of my house, you frigid bitch!”
You didn’t realize that Reggie had woken up, or that you were crying, until he pulled back far enough to wipe the fresh tears from your face.
“Hey.” he murmured softly.
“Hi.” you croaked out softly, looking up at him. He looked worried. You nuzzled into his chest again, making him laugh and stroke your hair softly.
“I missed you, Cuddlebug.” you hummed softly, realizing how true those words were when you said them. Something had felt off the past few weeks, and you were only just now realizing that it wasn’t just something shifting in your crappy relationship. It was the loss of your best friend and the little time that the two of you had spent together in recent times due to said crappy relationship. He hummed softly, dropping a usual peck to the top of your head.
“I missed you too, N/N.” The two of you lapsed into a comfortable silence. Daytime in Reggie’s house was usually quiet, with his father away at his job, and his mother either locked in her room drinking, or away at the bar. The two of you laid there for a little longer before Reggie noticed the time.
“I gotta go to practice.” He hummed. On Sundays, the band usually practiced earlier in the day, taking advantage of the fact that they all usually had the time free. You sighed dramatically, detangling yourself from him. He laughed at your antics, sitting up and stretching.
As he climbed out of the warm bed, Reggie asked, “Are you feeling up to coming to practice today? You don’t have to, but I know the others miss you just as much as I did.” He asked you over his shoulder. You grinned.
Reggie and your other friends had a band, called Sunset Curve, that they had started two years ago. They were amazing and you loved to hear them play. In recent months, they had been getting bigger and bigger gigs. You thought they were close to their goal, playing at the Orpheum, and used to go to practices regularly to cheer them on.
“I think that it’ll be good to go.” you hummed. “Give me something else to focus on rather than…” You didn’t want to say his name. Reggie nodded, and supplied a good substitute for you.
“Douchebag.” You laughed.
“Yeah, Douchebag.”
------
An hour later, you and Reggie were sitting side by side on the leather couch in Bobby’s garage, which had quickly become the boy’s studio space. You were talking quietly, catching each other up on the things that you had missed while waiting for the other boys to show up.
Unsurprisingly, considering it was his garage in the first place, Bobby was the first out of the others to arrive. He did a quick double take when he realized that you were sitting on the couch next to Reggie. He smiled at you, though, lifting his arm to bump forearms with you. He wasn’t usually one for much physical affection, a stark contrast to Luke and Reggie who both craved the contact.
“Hey, Y/N, good to see you in here again. It was getting a little too bogged down with idiocy for my taste.” Bobby teased lightly. Reggie flipped him off, a smile sitting on his face despite his action. You grinned.
“Well, I’ll be happy to bring the balance back again, then.” You played along with him. He grinned back at you, dropping down on the side of you that wasn’t already occupied by Reggie.
In hindsight, that probably wasn’t the wisest idea. Luke was the next to show up, nose buried in his songbook. You grinned.
“Hey, Luke.” You called out, gaining his attention for a split second.
“Hey, N/N.” It took him a moment to realize who you were, but when he did, his head popped back up, and a wide smile broke out over his face. “Y/N!” He called out, tossing his songbook onto the coffee table before throwing himself over you, and incidentally also landing half in Bobby’s lap. Bobby complained but didn’t move him off, knowing if he did, it would just make Luke pout, and a pouty Luke wasn’t what he wanted to deal with at the moment. Instead he delt with having the other boy half in his lap. You wrapped your arms around Luke, holding on to him, feeling a lightness in your chest that you hadn’t felt for a long time. You couldn’t believe you let Chaz take you from your boys as long as he had.
Alex was the last to arrive, stammering out an apology about his parents holding him back. The others waved him off.
“It gave us time to reconnect with our little N/N, anyway.” Luke spoke from his place, still in your lap. Alex paused, a happy smile playing at his lips, before it turned to a concerned frown.
“It’s good to see you, Y/N, but what happened to your cheek?” Alex asked. You felt three more pairs of eyes fall to you as they only just registered the light bruise that adorned your cheek.
“Let’s not go into that.” Reggie said softly. You shook your head.
“Please. Can we just leave it alone for now? I can’t guarantee that I’m not going to cry and you guys need to practice, not worry about me.
“We’ll always worry about you. You’re one of us, kid.” Bobby smiled. Luke and Alex nodded their agreement.
“You don’t have to tell us now. But you will have to talk to us eventually.” Alex said softly.
“I promise I will tell you guys what happened eventually. And we have forever, now. I’m not gonna be disappearing for a while.” Luke and Alex smiled, but you didn’t miss the look that crossed Bobby’s face when you said that, and you knew that he picked up on what he thought had happened. You reached for his hand with your free one, and he surprisingly took it. The five of you sat for a little longer before the boys had to get up and start practicing.
You listened and watched them jam out, realizing once again just how much you missed your best friends.
-----
Within the week, Chaz only tried to approach you once. He unfortunately tried when Bobby was with you at your locker. By this point, you had already told the boys what had gone on, and they were all wary of the other boy. So the moment that he tried to approach you, Bobby was immediately on guard when he approached you.
“Y/N?” Chaz sounded hesitant. You barely glanced at him.
“What do you want?” You asked. Bobby stood off to the side, keeping quiet, waiting before stepping in.
“I just wanted to say I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have snapped.” You slammed your locker closed, turning towards him and crossing your arms over your chest.
“You shouldn’t have snapped?” you scoffed. “That’s the only thing you did wrong that night, Chaz.”
“I know.”
“Apologies don’t make up for it.” You huffed and turned away from him. Chaz reached for you, grabbing your arm and turning you back around, ignoring the fact that you stiffened under his touch. He couldn’t ignore Bobby, though, who had stepped forward, placing a hand on his chest.
“Step back and let her go.” He told Chaz. Chaz huffed and did as he was told.
“You’ve got a security detail now?” He huffed again at you. You snapped.
“No. I’ve got friends who actually give a fuck about how I feel.” You were too focused on Chaz to notice Reggie showing up next to Bobby. “We’re done, and I regret ever saying yes to you.” Chaz’s face morphed and he looked angry.
“You were never worth the time anyway.” Before you could think, your fist was colliding with his face. Chaz stumbled back, and you shook the stinging feeling out of your knuckles. You were lucky that it was after school and the only reason you were still around was to wait on Reggie. The group of bystanders that had gathered cheered.
“You weren’t either.” you turned to Bobby and Reggie, smiling. Bobby looked surprised. It was rare that you would even yell or raise your voice in the slightest, so seeing you punch someone else was a break in your character. Reggie on the other hand looked absolutely starstruck, but you didn’t wait around to find out why that was. You headed out of the building, knowing full well they would be following close behind.
You guys sat in Bobby’s old car, waiting on the other two to show up, and once they did, the ride back to the studio was quiet, which you were fine with. Once you were back to the studio, though, Reggie sat you down before disappearing and reappearing with a first aid kit. He held out his hand, and you looked at him, confused.
“Your hand, N/N.” He said softly. You looked down at the knuckles, not even realizing that they had split from the one punch. You handed him your hand and let him set to work, cleaning the cuts and putting bandages over them.
You heard Bobby on the other side of the room, telling Alex and Luke what had happened, and why you seemed to be really tense. You could feel their eyes on you, but you ignored them, opting instead to focus on Reggie’s hands on your own.
In the past week that you had been separated from Chaz you realized just how much the raven haired boy in front of you meant to you, and you felt dumb. You regretted wasting all of that time with the ungrateful man you did, and wish you had instead realized that the best thing was right in front of you all this time. You hoped that it wasn’t too late for something to happen.
It took Reggie calling your name a few times for you to realize that you had zoned out, and had been staring at him while he had tried to talk to you.
“Hm?” you felt your face heating up. Reggie laughed softly.
“I’m proud of you.” He said with a smile. He continued after he saw the confused look on your face. “You stood up to Chaz. That’s not something that you would have normally done, N/N. I’m proud that you finally did.”
You smiled shyly. “I just realized that I had had enough. He had been trying to tear me from my friends. He didn’t support me the way you would.” You froze when the last few words left your mouth, and you wished you could take them back, especially with the way the boy was looking at you.
“What do you mean?” He asked softly.
“I mean the way that all of you guys would support me.” You said softly, looking down. Reggie shook his head, squeezing your hand, which was still settled in his.
“No you didn’t.” You pulled away, sitting back on the couch and pulling your legs up to your chest.
“I’m sorry, Reg. I didn’t mean anything. I just-“ you broke off, but you knew the harm was already done. Reggie stayed where he was for a moment.
“What if I wanted it to mean something?” He asked, voice soft. You looked up at him, cocking your head.
“Why would you want it to mean something?” You asked softly. ”It’s not like we’re anything more than friends.”
Reggie moved to sit on the couch next to you, and he gently loosened one of your hands from where they were tightly wrapped around your legs. “I realized a couple months into your relationship that I had wanted more with you.” Reggie said softly.
“Oh, Reggie.” You sighed softly.
“You seemed so happy with him, so I didn’t say anything. But now I have the chance to, and I don’t want to let that go.” He shot one of his signature soft smirks at you, and you laughed softly.
“I’ve realized in the past week the same thing. Look at us taking forever to figure out that our best friends were our best loves all along.” You teased softly. Applause sounded from the other side of the room, causing you and Reggie to look over at your other friends.
“It’s honestly about time.” Bobby rolled his eyes. “Now get over here so we can practice.” Reggie smiled at you before jumping up and moving to join his friends. He paused and turned back to you, pulling you up from your seat on the couch, making you laugh again.
He pulled you in for a tight hug before pulling away enough to press a kiss to your lips. You might have had some bumps in the road, but here you were now, happy and knowing that you would remain so for the time to come.

My sister’s ghost band and me
In which you sometimes forget that you’re dealing with ghosts and can’t actually touch them.

A/N: It’s finally finished! I worked really hard on this, so I hope you like it. For some reason I can’t tag the person who commented on my post about the concept for this story, but I hope this finds their way to them :)
Ever since the three ghost boys have appeared in your life nothing has been the same. Your sister Julie who had lost such a big part of herself when your mother died finally had that back and you’ve never been prouder of her. The music she was making with the guys was so beautiful and you would never stop being grateful to them for doing what you couldn’t, bringing music back into her life.
So, it was no wonder that the one song of them that was on YouTube was playing on repeat in your household. You were humming along to ‘Edge of Great’ while preparing dinner when the front door opened and your dad walked in.
“Man, I love that song!” He exclaimed when he noticed what you were listening to. He shrugged off his coat moving his head along to the beat.
“No way! Me too!” You laughed turning the volume down a little, so you could talk to your dad without having to scream over the music. He came over to the kitchen, pressing a small kiss to your temple in greeting before glancing into the pot and letting out a cheer.
“Yes! Your pasta! I love you!” He pulled you into a hug eliciting another laugh from you. When you looked over at him, he was still staring into the pot mesmerized. You lifted up your hand to bop his nose taking him out of that trance.
“Love you, too, papi.” The alarm going off then alerted you that the breadsticks were done, so you moved around your dad to take them out of the oven. “I know you need to take Carlos to practice, so I’ll just set some aside for you guys and you can reheat it when you get back.”
“Yes, right. Thank you!” He called for your little brother right after who came running down the stairs immediately. “Let’s go!” You shouted a quick “Bye!” after them which was left unheard with the door falling shut before you finished talking. The only noise in the kitchen now was the muffled music coming from the studio, the video you had been watching having finished long ago. You shut your laptop and put it in the living room to make some room in the kitchen.
You were about to call Julie in for dinner, before you thought better of it. Instead, you filled two plates with pasta and took some breadsticks, before you left the house and walked over to where your sister’s band was rehearsing. The music got louder the closer you got to the big white doors, a song you didn’t recognize playing.
Pushing one of the doors farther open with your foot while balancing the plates you were greeted with the sight of Julie belting out what had to be the last note of their new song before they noticed you. Luke was the first to look over, exclaiming your name with a smile on his face which prompted the rest of the group to turn towards you as well.
“I brought dinner!” You announced, mostly to Julie since the three boys weren’t capable of eating anything. She moved away from the keyboard to take one of the plates from your hands setting it down on the table. You followed right after her after greeting the boys and went to sit down on the floor, your back leaning against the couch. “That sounded great! Is it a new song?” You asked before taking the first bite.
The guys moved to join Julie and you around the table. Even though they couldn’t eat they still provided great company. When Luke sat down right next to Julie you shared a look with Alex. You were always talking about how obvious the chemistry between the two was on stage and wondered if it would ever transition to off-stage as well.
“Yeah, it’s called ‘Stand Tall’ and it’s definitely an anthem!”
“Well, I’d love to hear the whole thing some time.”
Julie nodded excitedly. “Just come to the next band practice! I don’t even know what you’re always doing huddled up in the house.”
“Gee, thanks! I might be focusing on school work or something equally insignificant.”
“You can just do your work here while you’re listening to us play,” Reggie chimed in, earning approving nods from the group.
Alex plopped out of the studio at some point during dinner saying something about meeting Willie. Julie left shortly after as soon as she was done eating. Flynn had texted her and wanted her to come over. But, being the good sister that she was, she took your plate inside with her before she left. Then it was just you, Reggie and Luke left in the studio although the latter didn’t really count since he was so focused on songwriting that he didn’t react at all to anything you said.
You remained sitting on the ground, but turned to face Reggie. He had made himself comfortable on the couch you had been leaning against. Resting your head on your arm you looked up at him, a small smile on your face.
“What’s up with you?” He asked, an uneasy chuckle escaping him as he realized that your undivided attention was on him.
You bit your lip trying to refrain from breaking out into a huge grin. “I heard the cheerleaders talking about you today,” you told him with a wiggle of your eyebrows.
His face went red in an instant, a stark contrast to his pale skin tone. He started stammering before just smiling wildly over at Luke. “You hear that, dude? The cheerleaders talk about me!” But Luke was still so focused on his notebook that he didn’t notice. He did, however, notice it when Reggie threw his flannel at him to get his attention.
“Hey!” he exclaimed, scrunching up the flannel in his hands before throwing it back at his friend, hitting him right in the head. “What did you do that for?”
“You’re not listening! They just told me some great news and you didn’t even listen!”
“Wait! What news?” Luke shut his book focusing his attention on you as he waited for you to repeat yourself, probably expecting something more exciting than what you have told Reggie. You could see it in his face. When your words sunk in, his face fell, his expression somewhere between boredom and annoyance. “And that’s why you stopped me? Dude, I was working on some killer lyrics!” With that he grabbed his notebook again and teleported out of the garage.
Reggie quickly got over his best friend abruptly leaving and turned back to you. “Well, I hope, you told them that you know me. I’m nothing without my greatest fan.”
“So, I’m your greatest fan now?”
“Well, of course, there can’t be another reason you’re always at our gigs,” he replied smugly, leaning forward in his seat. “And always notice when someone’s talking about me.”
You tried to hide behind your hands as you felt heat rising to your head. “I’m just attentive when it comes to my sister’s band. It’s got nothing to do with you personally.” You shrug, peeking a glance at him from behind your hands. The pout on his face made you reconsider though. “But you’re a pretty great guy.”
He moved off the couch to sit on the floor with you. You had already learned that Reggie could be easily excitable. He was like a puppy, so you couldn’t resist when he watched you with a big smile and sparkling eyes to bop his nose like you always did with your siblings and your dad. What you didn’t factor in was that your finger would go right through his face.
You quickly pulled your hand away and jumped up to bring some distance between yourself and the situation. The pacing you started wasn’t really a conscious choice. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t think. It was an impulse and I momentarily forgot. God, that was so awkward. I can’t believe that just happened. I’m so sorry, Reggie.”
When you were met with silence you stopped your pacing to look up at him. He was still on the ground following you with his eyes. But instead of looking horrified or angry he had a smile on his face when he called your name. “It’s fine. I feel honored, really.” The confused look on your face prompted him to explain some more. “I always see how you do that to Julie, Carlos, your dad, even Flynn. You do it to the people you care about and I’m happy I’m one of them, even if it’s not the same and it might be a little weird, ‘cause, like, I can feel something but it’s not quite touch. But I can definitely feel that you have a lot of love in your heart. You mean a lot to me, too. To all of us. I wouldn’t mind if it happened again because I know it means that you love us.”
“That was really sappy.” You tried to play it off but his words meant a lot to you. They were true and having it laid out in front of you like that brought tears to your eyes.
“Oh shit, I didn’t mean to make you cry!” He jumped up and quickly moved over to you. His hands hovered just above your cheeks. He was cursing himself for not being able to wipe your tears now and just wrap you into a hug.
“They’re not sad tears, Reggie. I’m fine. I’m just… grateful to have you guys in my life.” You gave him a small smile before excusing yourself to turn in for the night. The incident replayed in your mind and even though you couldn’t help but feel embarrassed by the fact that you forgot about him being a ghost for a second you appreciated the words he told you.
The incident was soon forgotten. Well, not that soon. You had made the grave mistake of telling Julie about it and she went on to tell it to Flynn. They both kept teasing you because of it. But at some point, even that died down and you didn’t have to constantly think about your slipup. Reggie’s behavior around you didn’t change at all either which calmed you immensely.
When you got home that afternoon the house was unusually quiet and when you shouted out for your family members nobody gave you a reaction.
“Nobody’s home,” sounded from your right, making you jump in surprise. Alex, adorned by his pink sweatshirt, had appeared right next to you. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you. But I heard you come home and thought I’d come over. Julie and Luke are working on some lyrics, so they banned us from the garage.”
You calmed down from the shock fairly quickly. A side effect of having ghost friends was that it didn’t freak you out as much anymore when one just appeared out nowhere, or at least you learned to recover fast. “So, where’s Reggie? I can’t imagine he got to stay when you were thrown out.”
“Oh no, he’s down by the beach, I think. He sometimes still goes to where his house used to be and just sits there for a while.” You hadn’t known that. It always seemed like Reggie was faring well with being a ghost, but appearances can be deceiving. That’s nothing new.
“It must be hard for you guys. Knowing that the people you knew now have a completely different life while for you guys it was just such a short period of time. How long did you say it felt like you were in that dark room? An hour? That must be so surreal.”
“An hour, yeah,” he confirmed. “I mean, it’s not like we had the best relationship with our parents to begin with, but not even knowing if they are still alive or where they are, is pretty weird.”
“I could try to find them for you.” It was more of a question than a statement, but you at least wanted to give him the option. “If that’s what you want.” He said nothing for a while, just stared at the floor, at you, at the pictures hanging at the wall. “You don’t have to decide now. I just wanted to let you know that that may be an option, but I get it if that’s not what you want. Just take your time and think about it.”
You picked up your backpack you had dropped when Alex first appeared and moved towards the stairs. “I need to do my homework. Do you want to join me?”
He nodded excitedly. “I’ll see you in your room!” He announced and popped out of the living room. You could just shake your head at the use of teleportation, but hurried to get up to your room yourself.
Alex was already lying on your bed when you got there and set your backpack down by your desk. “That sure seems convenient.”
“What does? Oh! That! It kinda is. Still freaks me out sometimes, too, though.” He rolled to lie on his stomach and watched you sit down at your desk. “Do you have a lot to do?”
“Not really.” You shook your head, grabbing the stuff you needed. “I should be quick.”
So, you did your homework with Alex watching you. From time to time he asked questions about what you were learning in school and you explained it to him to the best of your knowledge. That was one of the reasons you liked doing homework with Alex. Explaining the material to him helped you understand it better as well. And you just liked being around him.
When you were done you didn’t even bother to put the stuff away before you jumped onto the bed next to Alex. “So, what have you and Willie been up to?” You asked. The boy next to you turned onto his back to look up at the ceiling and you followed suit.
“He took me to an empty museum and then we screamed there.” His voice went up at the end, making it sound like a question. He actually just didn’t know how to say it without it sounding completely bizarre. “It was actually really freeing.” He paused to think about his next words. If he spoke about it, it would become a real thing and he didn’t know if he was ready for that. But eventually, he did speak them. “I don’t know. I really like hanging out with him. It’s fun and he gets me to do things I normally wouldn’t. He teaches me about stuff I’ve missed out on. And I think I’m falling for him. Hard. And I don’t know what to do about it. I mean, a ghost romance? That sounds weird to me. Does a thing like that even work?”
You thought about it for a second. You didn’t even know if that question was just rhetorical or if he actually wanted an answer, but it was an interesting thing to think about.
“I mean, you’re both ghosts. You can see and hear and touch each other. It’s not that different from a relationship between living people, I’d say. You just won’t grow old together. Physically, I mean. But what matters most are your feelings. So, if you like him, go for it. He seems like a great guy.”
“He is,” Alex answered absentmindedly, a dreamy smile on his face as he looked off into the distance.
“You’re so cute!” You squealed and lifted your hand to his nose but stopped yourself before actually reaching his face. The moment with Reggie flashed back into your mind before you dropped your hand. The nose bops you gave your family had become second nature for you, so actively stopping yourself felt wrong. Not doing it to show your affection felt wrong. But you didn’t want a repeat of that embarrassing situation. Instead, you laughed it off when Alex tilted his head questioningly. “Anyways, I’m hungry. Would you give me the honor of joining me in the kitchen?” you asked dramatically after standing up from your bed.
He didn’t even answer, but disappeared with a plop. “You coming?” sounded from downstairs right after. You could just shake your head at him but hurried downstairs nonetheless.
“You have to stop doing that! It’s so unfair!” You complained when you reached the kitchen and opened the fridge. Pulling out some ingredients for a sandwich you looked back at your friend. “And you always complain about them too! But then you use them nonetheless. Sounds to me like you don’t appreciate what you have.”
“What is he not appreciating?” sounded a voice behind you which made you scream in surprise. Not your proudest moment.
“Luke!” You scolded the brunet who had appeared in the kitchen as well. “Don’t do that me! You guys are gonna kill me one day!” He gave you a sweet smile as he apologized. You couldn’t stay mad at him if he looked at you like that.
“So, what is Alex not appreciating?”
“His ghost abilities! You guys can teleport and summon your instruments. That’s so cool! And Alex just keeps complaining about stuff. And I get it. To get those abilities you had to die which is not great at all, but you can’t change it, so I say you should just appreciate what you have,” you ranted while preparing your sandwich. Luke watched on, nodding along to what you were saying. His face fell a little when you mentioned their deaths, but he came back around quickly.
“I totally agree. We can do some really cool stuff now. I always tell Alex the same thing, it-“
“Ok, yeah, I see you two are conspiring against me here, so I’m just gonna go and leave you guys to it.” With that he plopped out of the kitchen, disappearing off to who-knows-where.
“As I was saying, isn’t it amazing how we are connected to our instruments, even in death? And that we can summon them! And the teleporting, of course! It’s so easy to get around!” Luke jumped into a monologue telling you all about the upsides of being a ghost while you just stood there and listened.
You could see it in his eyes before he started speaking about it. The bad parts of it all. The fact that he can go see his parents but that they will never know he was there, that they have to live with the fact that their child died before them. It was like that for all the boys. Thinking about their parents, their families, it was painful. Luke didn’t know if his situation, actually being able to visit his parents, was better than what Reggie and Alex had to live with. Their parents had left. They had nothing to go back to. But their family situations also were not that great. Which was another part. None of them would ever have a chance to make things right with their parents. If that would even have been possible when they were alive. It was a big ‘if’, but one that plagued the boys’ minds often.
Hearing him talk about it, you were reminded of your family. Your dad, tia Victoria, Carlos, Julie. Your mom. Even if she wasn’t with you anymore, you were glad you still had the others. You couldn’t begin to imagine what it was like for them. All you wanted to do right now was to give Luke a hug and to let him know that you were there for him.
“Luke.” You finally spoke up after a minute of silence that had occurred after his story. You weren’t quite sure what to say. No words would be right to express your thoughts and feelings in this moment. “We love you, Luke. Reggie, Alex, Julie and I. We all love you. I know we can never be your mom or your dad, but we’re family. You mean so much to us. I know, we haven’t known each other for a long time, but you guys have become such a huge part of our lives. It’s crazy! I just want you to know that you’re not alone. You have people who love you. And your parents love you, too. Even if they can’t see you, even if they don’t know you’re there. They love you.”
Tears started to cloud your vision, mimicking the ones that were already rolling down Luke’s face. His blurry figure moved to stand close to you. You felt a coldness at your nose. Realizing what he did you let out a small chuckle. It was a ritual shared between you and your loved ones, letting you know that your words had reached him, that he understood and felt the same.
Hearing your name spoken from the direction of the front door you were pulled out of the situation. A quiet plopping sound let you know that Luke had left. “Why are you crying in the kitchen?” Carlos asked. Your little brother cautiously moved towards where you were standing as if he was dealing with a scared animal. “Is it a feelings thing? Should I call Julie?”
“I’m fine, Carlos. Don’t worry. But… would you give me a hug?” You opened your arms to lure him in.
“Eww no. Get away from me!” He started running away when you stepped closer. You followed suit with your arms wide open. And that was how your dad found you when he came home from work that day, you chasing Carlos around the living room. Your tears had dried and were replaced with laughter. Especially when your dad took your side and scooped Carlos up in his arms as he tried to run past him.
“Group hug!” you exclaimed and joined the two in a hug with Carlos still complaining even though he didn’t do anything to get out of the situation.
“Can you tell the boys I won’t make it to practice today? Something came up.” Before you could answer her, Julie had already hung up on you. You were left wondering what was so important that she would miss band practice, but soon gave up on actually finding an answer to that.
You had almost been home when you got the call, so instead of going into the house you went straight for the garage to let the boys know Julie wouldn’t be coming. Faint music was coming from there. It seemed like they already started without her anyway.
“Guys! How many times do we have to tell you not to play when neither Julie or I are here? Our dad could hear you! And Carlos is already on that whole ghost hunting trip, so you shouldn’t feed into it anymore than you already did!” You side-eyed Reggie with that last comment, but he kept his eyes on his bass, plucking on the strings.
“Well, hello to you, too, Molina. We are doing great. Thanks for asking.” Luke had stepped up to you, guitar still hanging around his neck. “Nobody’s home and we were playing on volume 1. No one could have heard us,” he justified their behavior.
“Okay, fine.” You relented. It did make sense that they should be allowed to play under those circumstances. “Anyways, Julie won’t make it to practice today, so if you want to work on some stuff without her, I’ll stay out here with you.”
“Well, it won’t really be band practice, if not even the whole band is present,” Alex noted to which the others agreed.
“But you should still stay out here with us!” Reggie exclaimed and if he could, he would’ve pulled you from your spot by the doors to the couch, so you wouldn’t even have a chance to think about leaving. But he couldn’t, so he tried to will you to move with his thoughts. When you walked over to the couch you noticed the astonished look on Reggie’s face, but decided not to comment on it.
“Why do you barely spend time here with us? It feels like we always have to come into the house to spend time with you,” Alex questioned. His hands were fumbling with the hem of his sweatshirt as he made eye contact with you. He realized in that moment there was much more to that question than he had thought.
You hesitated with your answer, not knowing if you should put your innermost thoughts and feelings out there, but after the talk you had with Luke the other day you knew you could trust them. “I don’t know. I guess, it still feels weird being in mom’s studio. Some moments it doesn’t bother me, but other times it just overwhelms me and it reminds me so much of mom that I can’t stay in here. I’m sorry. I love spending time with you guys, but sometimes it’s just too much.” Your gaze moved around the studio, from the floating chairs over to the grand piano and back to the boys in front of you. “Some days are just harder than others.” You shrugged, hoping that the boys wouldn’t stay on that topic.
“But Ju-“ Luke started but was stopped when Alex elbowed him in the side. “Dude, what? Julie ha- ohh. Sorry!” he mumbled, averting his gaze. Comparing people’s grieving progress was not a thing one should do and he just realized after, what he had been doing and regretted it instantly.
“Anyways, you know what I realized?” Reggie decided to change the topic for which you all were grateful. “You have never heard a live performance of a Sunset Curve song! You’ve just heard us play the new songs with Julie.”
“That’s right!” Luke piped up, back in his element. “We can play you something!” He jumped up and grabbed his guitar without even waiting for your answer. The other boys followed suit. Alex got situated behind his drums while Reggie grabbed his bass. Moving up to the mic in the front Luke pointed a finger at you. “This one’s for you! This is Now or Never.”
You recognized the song as the first track on their demo. The song that got them here. It brought back memories of the night they first showed up in the studio. Your dad had asked Julie to go through the stuff in the studio for the move. She had begged you to come with her since she didn’t want to be alone to do it. When you found the demo, you didn’t think anything about it when you put it into the player, but then the boys appeared and turned your whole life upside down.  And now you were here, with a ghost band playing you a song, for everyone to hear, but only you to see.
You were the only one who got to see Reggie and Luke sharing a mic, Reggie rocking with Alex in the back, them all just feeling the music. It was indeed what they were born to do. It was obvious for anyone who saw them on stage that that was where they belonged.
When the song came to a close you jumped up and applauded them. They bowed to you, big smiles on their faces at your reaction. “You guys sound great! I loved it! Thank you!”
The song still resonated within you when you sat back down with the boys. Their excited chatter filled your ears as you watched them interact with each other. The short amount it had taken you and Julie to get used to the presence of ghosts was crazy, but you couldn’t think them away anymore. They had become such a big part of your life as if they had always been there. You liked to believe in Flynn’s theory that it had been your mom who had brought them into your life, that she looked out for you and your family even from beyond the grave.
You were pulled out of your thoughts when Alex spoke to you. “Sorry, what did you say?”
“I was asking what you’re thinking about.” He repeated himself.
“Oh, um, you guys, my mom, Julie. Everything that’s happened… You guys are really important to me, you know. It’s… I don’t know. We haven’t known each other for that long, but I wouldn’t want to think you guys out of my life even if that might be selfish of me.”
“Well, good thing we’re not planning on leaving,” Luke commented, sending you a wink. You scoffed but let a smile take over your features. They were idiots, but they were your idiots.
“So, what’s been happening at school?”
You looked at Reggie with a raised eyebrow. “You want to know about school? Really?”
“Yeah.” He shrugged. “I actually kinda miss it.” He looked between Luke and Alex to see if they felt similar but got no reaction from them. “Well, guess I’m the only one. But how is it?”
“Same as usual, I guess. Bunch of work to do, some good teachers, some bad, Carrie starting drama as usual. Did Julie tell you Nick broke up with Carrie?” The boys shook their head no, now intrigued. “Well, he told Julie he broke up with her because she’s “not the nicest person” which is true, obviously. We all know that. But I wonder why he just saw it now? Like, why did he get together with her in the first place? I never knew! Someday they were just together and I have zero clue how it happened,” you let them know, “Oh, and Julie and Nick partnered up in dance class!”
“They did?” Alex exclaims, living for the drama. “Isn’t he the guy Julie likes?”
“He is! She’s been crushing on him for, like, forever! And now that he’s not with Carrie anymore and they spend time together at dance practice…” You let the end of the sentence hang in the air. “So, yeah, that’s what’s been happening at school,” you concluded. With the boys showing up at school sometimes, you didn’t know how up-to-date they actually were with Los Feliz High drama. If you could even call it that.
“So, she’s with him now?” Luke huffed. He frowned as he leaned back against the couch. “Instead of practicing with her band.”
“She might be.” You shrugged. “I actually don’t know where she is or what she’s doing. She’s her own person, you know. She might be my sister, but that doesn’t mean I know every single piece of information about her. I can just assume. And I like to assume that she’s with Nick, practicing their dance. Because, one, they get a grade for it and she shouldn’t fail and two, because I am living for the whole Nick drama.”
“Same,” added Alex in a nonchalant voice which had you do a doubletake.
“Wait! Did you learn that from Willie? You didn’t use ‘same’ that way before, right? That’s not a 90s thing.” You stared at him with big eyes. The confirmation came as a small nod as he turned his head to avoid anyone’s gaze. “That’s cute. I like it. Sometimes I feel like you guys don’t understand me right when I say stuff like that, so that’s awesome that he teaches you stuff like that.”
“Hey! I want to learn that stuff, too!”
“Well, Reggie, Alex can just teach you what he learns from Willie.”
“But what if I want you to teach me?” He asked moving over to your seat. He sat down on the arm rest of your chair looking down at you with big puppy eyes.
“I’d be such a bad teacher. Just tell me if you don’t understand something and I’ll try. I can’t promise you I know all of the references or memes though. You do know what a meme is by now, right?” The boys nodded. “Ok, good. That’s a start. Now, Reggie, may I please have the chair back to myself? It’s not that big to begin with.”
The boy stood up quickly with raised hands, before he motioned for you and the chair. “It wouldn’t really make a difference. I’m basically air.” He flailed his arms around. Luke and Alex just made some agreeing noises. Reggie stopped his wild moments as he saw you watching with a smile and a raised eyebrow. “See.” He knelt down in front of you and lifted a finger to your nose. He gently pressed down, the cold feeling of his finger not going through you this time.
As his finger made contact with your nose it became dead silent in the studio. Luke and Alex were staring at the scenario in front of them, while you and Reggie looked at each other with wide eyes, before you jumped up causing Reggie to quickly move back. “You can touch me!” you exclaimed. “How? Why? What? How is this possible?”
Your mind was racing with just one thought being clear in all the chaos. Reggie had just touched you. You were scared, in a way, as you held out your hand towards him again. Would you be able to do it again? Was it just a one-time thing? But when you felt the ghostly touch of his hand as he interlaced his fingers with yours you knew it was real. It felt different than touching a human. There was no warmth, but you could still feel him. You could feel his hand in yours.
Your other hand was shaking as you covered your mouth in shock, tears threatening to spill from your eyes. “Alex?” You beckoned the blond forth who was just waiting for you to signal him that it would be alright to try. Timidly, he tried to touch your shoulder and when his hand didn’t go through either he wasted no time wrapping his arms around you in a bone-crushing hug. Sobs and laughter escaped your mouth. You hugged him back with one arm while Reggie was still staring at your intertwined hands in awe.
Luke didn’t dare move from his spot by the couch. This might all be a dream, even thought ghosts didn’t sleep and didn’t dream. But this felt so much like a dream come true that he didn’t dare disrupt it. Even when you made eye contact with him, silently asking him to join you, he couldn’t move a muscle.
You let go of Alex and Reggie slowly, their hands falling to their sides. Luke watched you walk around Alex until you stood in front of him raising your hand to the space between the two of you. His gaze wandered between you and your hand before he lifted his as well, but, as your hands were inches apart, he stopped, doubt clouding his mind once again. This couldn’t really be happening. So, you took the decision from him, placing your palm against his and as you had suspected, felt the resistance of his hand.
His face lit up instantly. His arms moved around your waist, picking you up and spinning you around as he let out victorious sounds. As soon as you were put back onto the ground, Alex and Reggie joined into the hug, almost crushing you, but you didn’t stop them. This was what they needed. And you did, too.
You didn’t know how it happened, what had changed, for you to be able to touch the three ghosts, but you were grateful for it. From then on, not a day would go by without a hug from a ghost. They liked touching you. An arm around your shoulder, around your waist, a hand reaching for yours, one of them lying with their head in your lap while you carded your fingers through their hair.
If you had before sometimes forgotten that they were ghosts – the realization coming back when you couldn’t touch them – it got even worse now.

"I think we should set some ground rules. First of all: this is my studio. Which means you three will show it and myself some respect. Secondly: no more of this ghosting stuff that you guys do." Y/N said.
"Ghosting stuff?" Reggie raised an eyebrow.
"You guys take my stuff, and pop-up in embarrassing situations."
"Oh, really? Name one time that's happened." Alex said.
"Oh, how bout when you ate all my cereal, Alex? How does that even work? How do ghosts even eat? Then there's Reggie, who steals the plushies from my bedroom, and drools all over them when he sleeps."
"I don't drool." Reggie said.
"You also snore." Luke adds.
"And you, Luke. You pop-up when I'm taking a shower. Or changing. Or masturbating and it's really embarrassing to do those things with a ghostly audience."
"Dude, you watch him jerk off?" Alex asked.
"Not cool, dude." Reggie said.
Luke blushed.

Where will we end up? (TEASER)
Tumblr media
A build-up to Sunset Curve and their honorary member. Pls see the bottom for more info!!
Content warnings: Female reader, mentions of anxiety, Alex’s hinted feelings for Luke, parents fighting, lack of father figure, hinted selective mutism and use of Y/N (could change for actual fic)
----------
July 27, 1990
The air was sticky. The Los Angeles sun beat down on three kids who were on the verge of being teenagers as they rode their bikes down to the pier. School was starting soon and all three had different worries that led to the same conclusion; what’s gonna happen to them?
For Alex Mercer, worrying about everything was his job. If he didn’t worry, how would he be prepared for every possible outcome? He was starting his 8th-grade year. The ‘Kings of Middle School’ as everyone would say, but he felt sick thinking about stepping up to the crown. Of course, he felt like this before every new school year but that wasn’t going to stop him from doing it again. He worried about his classes, and how many he would share with Y/N. He worried about how Y/N was going to handle the classes they didn’t share. He worried about how hot-headed Luke would handle 9th grade. He worried that Luke would make other friends and not want to hang out with 8th graders. He worried that Y/N won’t need him as much this year. And he worried she’d grow tired of him on the days he struggled to leave the house. He worried about the feeling he’d get in his stomach every time Luke smiled at him. Why did his friend make him so anxious? He shook his head and pedaled faster.
For Luke Patterson, worrying about the future wasn’t something he experienced often. Sure he wondered what his life would look like 5 years from now but didn’t everyone? He was starting 9th grade, ‘fresh-meat’ as upper-classmen would call them. He worried it would be too much. Heck, he’d only been living in LA for a year and now he has to leave his only two friends behind. He had tried to flunk 8th grade just so that the three of them could be in the same grade moving forward. Y/N had smacked him upside the head so hard he hissed just remembering it. He worried that if he stayed away too long, Alex and Y/N would realize they didn’t need him. The two were already attached to the hip when he came along and wedged his way in. Maybe they don’t need him as much as he needs them. They have each other and perhaps that’s enough. He worried he’d fall behind without Y/N keeping him in check. He worried about how he won’t be there to help Alex on the days everything was just too much. And he worried about who would be there to calm him down when everything was a little too loud and the clothes he wore were a little too rough that it made him want to peel his skin off. He sighed and pedaled faster.
For Y/N Y/L/N, worrying about the ‘what ifs’ was her favorite pastime. It wasn’t really. But they plagued her mind every free moment she had. What if Alex branched off? What if he didn’t need her anymore? What if Luke made friends? What if he spends more time in high school and won’t hang around them anymore? What if both Luke and Alex split off together? They were both guys and maybe they’ll realize it’s better with just the two of them. She worried they’d become someone she’d walk by and have to pretend the time they spent together didn’t exist. That the secrets they whispered to each other in the night disappeared as the sun came up. That the dreams they shared were snuffed out as time went on. She worried that she’d look into their eyes and instead of being met with the familiar warmth of home, she’d be met the reflection of who they once were and what they once met to each other. She wondered if she’d be able to navigate the 8th grade and life afterward without her two fellow musketeers at her side. She wiped the single tear off her face and pedaled faster.
----------
The comic book shop was cool as the air-conditioner rumbled in the background. Hot gusts of wind accompany the little bell as someone enters the shop. The sign on the door encouraging customers to fully close it so as to keep the cool air from escaping. School was starting soon and as a boy sits on the beanbag that’s become his designated spot, he worries about starting the 8th grade.
For Reggie Peters, worrying about school has never been a big thing unless it involved bringing home classmates for a group project. Which he always managed to avoid. At least, that was his only worry until recently. His parents’ fighting had gotten worse. The words he had heard his parents yell at each other as he sat on the stairs had caused him to gasp. Which happened to be the last sound he made. He wondered how two people who swore to love each other could utter such things. He hadn’t been able to talk in almost two months and now school was right around the corner and he worried about interactions. He worried teachers would get upset with him like his parents had. He worried people would find him rude, thinking he was ignoring them. He wondered how he would make friends in his classes if the mere attempt at speaking caused him physical discomfort. He grabbed the water bottle and granola bar that sat on the napkin with “For Reggie” scribbled on it. He smiled at the gesture. He hoped his voice would come back so he could properly thank the owners of the comic book store that felt more like home than his house ever did.
----------
The sun shone brightly as a boy skated through the park. His eyes squinted as the light hit him directly in the face. Placing a hand over his forehead in an attempt to block the rays, his eyes widened as he realized he was heading straight toward a girl walking her dog. He quickly maneuvered around to avoid hitting her only for his wheel to catch a stone causing him to land on his side. He groaned as he sat up, dusting off his dark jeans and rolling his eyes as he noticed he scraped his elbow yet again. He leaned back on his hands and looked up at the sky peeking through the leaves of the tree he had found himself under.
For Bobby Shaw, worrying about stuff was something he always tried to keep under wraps. His mom worried enough as it was and he didn’t want to add it. As the ‘man of the house’ he had to keep cool under the gaze of both his mom and grandma. He briefly wondered where his dad was. He had recently promoted from the 8th grade without a father in the crowd. The thought immediately went away. Why should he care about the man that walked out on him and his mom? He was starting 9th grade soon and his mom was making a fuss about it. Something about him growing up fast. He was tall for his age and his grandma always nags him about the ridiculous clothes he wears. Asking him how he hoped to make friends if the sight of him was enough to intimidate. He was worried. For what? He wasn’t sure. He didn’t care much for school. He didn’t care much for consistent company. He had skatepark buddies but that was all they were and he didn’t mind. He worried the most about disappointing his grandma. He didn’t hold the same traditional views as she did but he knew that she loved him regardless. And maybe he was lying about how little he actually cared about everything else. But that wasn’t something he was ready to unpack. He stood up, grabbed his board and kicked off.
CONTEXT
----------
A/N: Hi! I finally have motivation AND some free time to actually write something. This story is going to follow the boys and the reader as they navigate through high school, meet each other, start the band, be teenagers, face struggles, and feel feelings. I'm not sure how you all feel about "Y/N" Please let me know, I can totally name her and have it be more of an OC!
The fic will be including my personal headcanons for the boys and there's more backstory to how Y/N, Alex and Luke met if you're interested in like a flashback thing. Or a separate headcanon list/context for each person.
Also, this is probably going to be a Reggie x Reader/Bobby x Reader. I have not decided 100%
Thank you for taking the time to read this little thing, please let me know if you'd like it to be an actual fic!

Chemistry | Alex Mercer
Requested by anonymous:  Can you please make an Alex x platonic!reader fic where reader and alex are both being chaotic duo, like they just have a bunch of inside jokes and crack up when someone says a random word and everyone's like what is wrong with you guys (just them channelling Robert Pattinson in press junkets level of crackhead energy)
Summary: You and Alex are hanging out before band practice to study, but with fun dance parties, come hurried runs to the studio since you lost track of time. The band doesn’t appreciate it too much.
Pairing: Alex x platonic!reader
Warnings: none, just some chaotic good
Words: 1101

Los Feliz, 1995
“We still on for studying together?” Alex, your best friend, asks when he finds you at your locker. It startles you, but once you’ve composed yourself, you offer him a smile. “Of course, Lex.” His lips curl up into a smile as a relieved smile breaks through. He’s always been a little anxious. Mostly about big things happening and things changing, but lately, he’s had this fear of losing his best mates or them pushing him away or getting bored of him. You included. Even though you’ve told him multiple times already that that’s something that could never happen, it’s something that wells up inside every now and again, and there’s nothing you can do about it. So, instead of telling him to stop worrying, you reassure him. No matter how many times you have to.  “Your place or mine?” he then asks, gripping the strap of his backpack a little tighter.  “Mine? It’s closer to the studio for your band rehearsal later,” you suggest. Alex nods his head agreeingly, and then falls into step with you as you make your way out of school.  You and Alex have been friends since forever. Your parents went to the same church and became friends on the first day of meeting, which then meant the two of you had to spend time together. Neither of you had a choice. But it’s not like it mattered. The two of you hit it off right away and have been the best of friends ever since. Then, in middle school came Reggie and Luke, and freshman year of high school, Bobby joined the gang. The boys started a band that year, but since you were musically incompetent, you couldn’t join the band. Which kind of sucked, but you loved sitting in rehearsals and listening to every idea they had for a new song. It was just refreshing to see those boys thriving and having fun and being passionate about the same thing. “Okay, what do you want to start with?” Alex asks when he plops onto your bed the second you walk into your room. You throw your backpack to the floor, grab a cassette from your collection, and put it in the stereo. It’s the mixtape the boys had made for you for Christmas last year with all your favorite songs on. Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance With Somebody is the first song that blares through the speakers.  “A dance party!” you suggest excitedly and pull Alex up from the bed, singing along terribly. For the majority of the mix tape, you and Alex sing along, dancing through the room and giggling at Alex’s hilarious dance moves.  “I really think John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John had the best chemistry of all movie couples,” says Alex when You’re The One That I Want is playing. “Really? I think Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Gray were a better couple,” you argue, “Or Winona Ryder and Christian Slater!” Alex groans, fanning himself when thinking about Jason Dean from Heathers. “I know, Christian Slater will forever be my celebrity crush!” Alex giggles at that.  “Can we share?” he wiggles his eyebrows, to which you just laugh.  “No, bro, Christian Slater is mine. Pick your own hottie!”  “Fine, I’ll claim John Stamos then!” you gasp at this. John Stamos, along with Christian Slater, was the hottest actor alive. You watched Full House with your parents every evening.  Express Yourself by Madonna then starts playing, and the both of you forget about the discussion and start dancing again, singing along with the Queen of Pop.
“OK,” he then coughs when the last song ends, and you go up to rewind it. “I think we ought to start studying now.” You glance at the clock on the wall behind Alex. When you see what time it is, your eyes widen. “What?!” he asks when he notices your shocked face. “We’re so late for band practice!” you shout and jump across your bed to get your backpack off the ground. Muttering some curse words under his breath, Alex gathers his stuff too, and stumbles after you. Giggling and stumbling, the two of you run to Bobby’s garage where the boys already are. All three of them scattered around on furniture, neither of them seems too happy. “Hey, guys!” Alex greets, panting, and then coughs. “’Sup, kiddos,” you throw up a peace sign with a sheepish grin plastered on your face. “You guys going to come up with some sort of lame excuse as to why you’re late?” Luke asks, his arms crossed and a pout on his face that kind of resembles a puppy’s. You and Alex glance at each other to check who’s going to do the talking, but all that comes out is high-pitched mumbling and stuttering. “We were studying…” you finally manage to bring out. “Yeah, studying!” It was your plan after all. “We were studying and lost track of time, so that’s why we’re late.” The three others glare at you with raised eyebrows, not believing once second of it. “What were you studying?” Bobby queries, now crossing his arms too. More panicked glances between you and Alex. “Chemistry!” you reply. It’s the first thing that comes to mind after your conversation about movie couples having chemistry and celebrity couples. “Yep! We were totally studying chemistry.” Alex, obviously knowing where the answer comes from, can’t stifle a giggle which earns him a questioning glare from his band mates. “Okay, then what are the chemical properties of oxygen?” Bobby interrogates, being the best in chemistry out of all of them. You and Alex had kind of forgotten about that… “Uhm…” More panicked glances between the two of you. “O?” “I think you got a bit of studying left to do, Y/L/N,” Bobby chuckles before getting up and grabbing his guitar. Luke and Reggie do the same. Alex gives you one last glance, and you both burst out laughing. “Can we start rehearsing now?” Reggie asks, getting a little annoyed. Alex nods, and walks over to his drumkit, sitting down behind it. Alex lifts his drumsticks to start counting down, but then stops. “What are we doing?” he asks.    “Now or Never,” Luke replies with an eyeroll. The drummer nods and counts the boys in, sending the band off into the song. You sit down on the couch, still giggling at everything that had just happened. This is such an Alex-and-you thing. Days with Alex are never boring. Something always happens when you’re around him, or any of the boys for that matter. It’s something you would never want to change. Ever.

Could I request some headcanons of what dating Reggie (Julie and the Phantoms) would include? Please and thank you!!!
A/N: I hope you like it!!
Note: I think the boys came back to life at the end of S1?? So these headcanons are based on that. I don’t know if it will be canon so don’t sue me if it won’t turn out being like that and only Julie can touch them or something.
Tumblr media
DATING REGGIE PETERS:
- You’re best friends with Julie and Flynn, and you three hang out a lot together.
- So when Julie summoned the boys back as ghosts, you were one of the first people besides Julie they saw.
- Reggie had his eyes on you ever since he first saw you.
- Alex and Luke picked on Reggie’s quickly developing crush immediately.
- Julie rolls her eyes a lot when the guys tease Reggie around you, and sometimes Reggie has a hard time to remember that you can’t see or hear them.
- Julie rolling her eyes might lead to some misunderstandings...
- “I have to say, this assignment is way easier than I thought.”
- “I know, like I thought that Ms. Hopkins would give something way harder. Her assignments are always nightmares!”
- “Well not always...”
- You giggle with Flynn and you happen to see Julie groan and rolling her eyes.
- “What’s up with you?”
- Julie turns to you, and she realizes what it looked like.
- “Oh, nothing. Sorry, wasn’t listening. I just... I just remembered something embarassing from my childhood.”
- And when you and Flynn shrug and turn your gazes back to your homework, Julie gives the boys a deathstare, prompting them to stop.
- “Hey, it’s not our fault that Reggie-boy is all hearts over Y/N...”
- “Hey!”
- “Too bad he’s a ghost, and Y/N is... well, alive.”
- “Hey! That’s just... mean.”
- “Sorry, mate.”
- Julie tries not to sigh.
- After Julie and the boys perform together for the first time, your eyes fall on Reggie and he winks at you.
- You immediately feel like you’re blushing.
- Julie smirks when she realizes what just happened, and she joins the guys into teasing Reggie.
- “Who was the guy playing the bass?”
- You try to be nonchalant about it, but Julie grins at you as she briefly glances Reggie to ensure he’s listening.
- “Oh, that’s Reggie.” she licks her lips. “Why are you asking?”
- You blush and shake your head.
- “He’s really talented, that’s all... does he have any social media? You know... I could check out his other work.”
- “What’s social media?” Reggie mutters and Alex and Luke shrug.
- Julie purses her lips as she thinks how she should answer.
- “He’s not really the type to use any social medias.”
- “Oh. Okay.”
- Julie glances at the boys and grins at Reggie who averts his gaze.
- His crush is getting more fuel into the flames as he sees you’re slightly interested in him too.
- But he’s still a ghost and that’s why he tries to make it go away.
- Flynn is pissed with Julie for lying about the “Swedish band” and complains about it to you.
- You agree that Julie’s explanation was a little shady, but your thoughts are on Reggie.
- It’s probably silly to develop a crush so easily but you couldn’t help it.
- Him winking at you was all it needed.
- Then you hear from Julie how Julie has claimed that the boys are ghosts who died in -95 and she has summoned them back and asks you if you should inform her dad.
- Of course you’re super worried about this since she has been on the edge for a year because of her mom.
- But Julie assures you that it’s true and that she’s going to prove it.
- She starts singing you a song and the boys appear.
- And that’s how you get to talk to Reggie the first time.
- Or rather Alex and Luke say things like “Reginald here likes you”.
- You’re both blushing and looking in different directions.
- “Hey, don’t tease them. We all can see they have chemistry, that goes without saying.” Flynn rolls her eyes at the boys and you offer Reggie a sheepish, tight-lipped smile.
- It’s difficult to advance in your blooming, mutual crush when you can see each other only when Julie is performing with them.
- Luke might write a bit longer instrumental parts to the songs so you and Reggie have more time to spend together.
- Everyone ships you two.
- And the party was just beginning...
- Julie brought the boys back to life.
- You could feel Reggie, and talk to him without him having to play that bass.
- Oooohhh boy he was so flustered when you saw him and just threw yourself in his arms.
- He didn’t expect you to run up to him like that.
- “So... you guys dating now or what?”
- Julie smirks at you when you glance Reggie with a sheepish smile.
- It wasn’t agreed on verbally, but you definitely started getting closer after that day, and acted like teenagers in love.
- Star Wars marathon was the first thing Reggie wanted to do.
- He was scared to check out the new ones, but you made him watch them too.
- He eventually agreed, stating that as a dedicated fan, he had an obligation to see if they were anything like the original trilogy.
- He was pleasantly surprised, actually.
- He didn’t like them nearly as much as the originals, but he didn’t hate them either.
- Reggie had just gotten used to being invisible to everyone else than Julie and being able to teleport to places, so walking, using a bus or bike felt weird at first.
- You hang out at the beach a lot.
- Reggie gets recognized a lot because of the band.
- Sometimes it’s annoying when you’re on a romantic cafe date and some teenagers start to scream and asking for photos...
- But you understand that it’s the life of dating a popular teenage band member.
- Reggie tries to take you to quieter places for dates though so you wouldn’t be bothered.
- You start hanging out at your place.
- Your family is a bit confused that the hologram band member is suddenly there with you, so you make up a story of him and the others moving to Los Angeles so it would be easier to throw gigs and you and Reggie just synced.
- They’re happy to see you being so happy with Reggie.
- It leaves no one doubtful, you’re a perfect match for each other.

Stupid Crushes

Pairing: Reggie x Male!Reader
Requested: Yes
Original Request: “Hi! I saw you were open for requests on JATP, And I was wondering if you could do a Reggie x Male! Reader where he's in the band as well, and he's had a crush on Reggie since forever- but he thinks he's straight. Anyways Alex and Luke get tired of it and trick them both into meeting and confessing? If not thanks okay :) x”
__________________________________________________________
“You’re staring again,” Luke prompted, dropping down to sit on the couch in Julie’s studio next to Reggie.
Reggie jerked in his seat, turning away from where he’d been watching his (h/c) bandmate working away at the piano to look at Luke. “I was not!”
Alex nodded from his place in one of the armchairs nearby, “You totally were. I think you might’ve even been drooling...”
“What!” Reggie wiped furiously at his face, trying to make sure that there really wasn’t anything there. He stopped when he noticed his friends snickering at his reaction, “Guys, that wasn’t funny!” he whined, shooting a quick glance over to make sure (M/N) hadn’t seen.
Luke nodded solemnly, giving Alex a faux dirty look, “He’s right, dude. What would he even see in (M/N) anyway?”
“Not cool, Luke,” Reggie bristled, eyes narrowing as he looked at his friend, “He’s funny and talented and he always knows how to make me feel better and he never looks at me like I’m dumb and have you seen the way his eyes sparkle when the light hits them just right? They’re like-” the brunet cut himself off with a frown when he noticed the look on their faces, “I can’t believe I fell for that.”
Alex looked amused, the corners of his lips twitching up in that way they always did when he was trying to hide a smile. “I can’t believe he still thinks you’re straight.”
Reggie turned to look at him, clearly puzzled, “He thinks I’m what?” He looked appalled, like the very thought of being heteronormative had burned him.
“Yeah,” Luke grinned, “The day you came out to the band, (M/N) didn’t show up for practice. He was sick or something. And you’ve never really talked about any guys you liked, just girls…”
The brunet’s brows furrowed and he turned to look back at the (h/c). “That’s because there’s only ever been one guy for me, but he hardly knows I exist.” He shrugged, looking down at his hands miserably.
Alex and Luke shared a look, coming to the same conclusion; this had been going on for far too long and it needed to end. The blond smirked a little as an idea came to him, gesturing subtly for Luke to follow him as he teleported away, hoping that a trip to Caleb’s club might provide them with what they’d need.
---------------
They enacted their plan a few days later, having Julie place the talisman they’d gotten from Caleb for them so they didn’t have to risk trapping themselves, before tricking Reggie into the storage closet they’d put the curse on.
Convincing you was a little more difficult, but asking you to go find Reggie since it was nearly time to practice and he’d been in the closet for a while did the trick. They had been quick to shove you into the small storage room once you’d opened the door, quickly slamming it behind you and sliding the bolt home to keep it closed.
“You can come out once you’ve dealt with your problems,” Luke grinned, speaking loud enough that the two of you could hear him from the other side of the door.
Alex snickered as you started yelling at them, but the two of them poofed away anyway to give you some privacy.
----------------
You sighed, shoulders slumping as you leaned back against the wall behind you. “Don’t suppose we could just teleport out of here?”
Reggie shook his head from his place sitting against the wall opposite the door. “Not with this thing in here,” he held up a small pendant, which was glowing with a faint violet light. “I’m not sure what it does exactly, but from what I can figure out, we’re pretty much corporeal right now, so no poofing out for us.”
“Damn,” you huffed, your back sliding down the wall until you were seated on the floor. “What did they mean, ‘work through our problems’?” you wondered after a moment, “We don’t have any problems; we’re friends, aren’t we?”
Reggie had a sinking feeling that he knew exactly what problems Luke had been referring to. “Actually…” he started slowly, keeping his eyes on the sliver of light creeping in under the door so he wouldn’t have to meet your gaze. “There’s been something I’ve been meaning to talk to you about…” You bit your lip, heart sinking as your mind started racing. “Oh, you finally found out about it, huh?” You sighed, forcing yourself to press on, “Look, it’s just a stupid crush, we don’t need to lose our friendship over it.”
Reggie swallowed hard, pushing past the sinking feeling in his chest. “Right. Stupid.”
“I mean, it’s been twenty-seven years; I think I hid it pretty well,” you shrugged. “But if me having feelings for you makes you that uncomfortable, then we can just pretend that this never-”
Reggie cut you off, brows furrowed intently over his dark eyes, “Wait. Waitwaitwaitwait, did you just say you had feelings for me?”
You nodded, “Yeah? What else would I have been talking about when I said it was a stupid crush?” you paused as realization dawned on you, “Reggie, do you like me?”
The bassist ducked his head bashfully, “Y-yeah. Since before we d-died.”
You had to bite back a laugh at the situation, “Wish I’d have known; all that time in the void definitely would’ve passed faster if I had a cute boyfriend to spend it with.”
“Well,” Reggie started, knowing that his face would be burning red if he wasn’t dead, “We’ve got forever to make up for that now, right?”
You nodded, leaning forward to press a swift kiss to his cheek, “All of eternity, Reg.” You grinned at him for a minute before moving to knock on the door to be let out, “What do you say we celebrate by getting some revenge?”
Reggie’s smile widened as he looked back at you, “I love you,” he murmured as the door slid open, the light revealing the devilish smirk that’d taken its place across your lips.

Happiest Place on Earth
Modern!Reggie Peters x Gender-Neutral!Reader, Luke Patterson x Alex Mercer
Based off of: #95 from my bucket list, Spend the whole day at Magic Kingdom
A/N: This was requested by @i-should-be-writing-my-own-fic ! This is mostly going to be based off of research and memory. I’ve been to Magic Kingdom before, but only when I was 7 so I barely remember anything. In school a couple years ago I used to plan out which hotel I was going to stay in and which rides I wanted to go on lol. It’s such a shame that the pandemic had to hit. Also I’m basing this off of Disney World in Florida because I’m more familiar with that one. This is super long and not great, but hope you like it!
Summary: Y/n, Alex, Luke, and Reggie spend the day at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. Y/n and Reggie stay together while Luke and Alex pair up. Both groups try to hide their relationships from the other, until everything magically unfolds.
Masterlist
For reference, if you’ve never been to Disney World and have no idea what the rides are, I’m including links to pictures I used to write this.

The warm sun rose on the concrete. Thousands of people lined up outside the gates to purchase their tickets for the giant themepark. Them and the boys waited anxiously. They were just about to get to buy their tickets but there was a giant family of 7 in front of them. It felt like years before they called the next people. It felt like centuries before they were allowed to enter the paradise. The four of them split up into pairs; Alex and Luke, and Y/n and Reggie. They wanted to go their separate ways and go on all the rides possible and occasionally meet up to get food and relax.
The first stop for y/n and Reggie was to Cinderella’s castle for pictures. Reggie dragged them by the hand to get as close to the castle, pushing past a lot of people in the process. In their bag was a polaroid camera. It probably wasn’t the best idea to bring something like that to a theme park where it could easily be misplaced or stolen, but memories, right? Y/n took pictures of Reggie first. He did some poses both facing away from the castle and facing the castle. Next was y/n’s turn. Now, y/n was smart. They bought some Disney related things way before the trip. They bought Mickey Mouse earrings and ears for their outfit. Y/n did the same as Reggie and took pictures facing away and towards the castle.
Next stop was to It’s a Small World in Fantasyland. Y/n and Reggie sat in the boat together and swayed to the music as they started moving in the ride. The animatronics were cool but really creepy at the same time. “What if one of those just exploded like in a sci-fi movie,” y/n laughed. Most times y/n was capable of correctly anticipating what would come next in a ride. They could tell that this was just a chill ride, but it’s always fun to imagine the unlikely.
“If that happens, you should just snatch one of them up, and then we just have to run,” Reggie smiled as they laughed. Y/n and Reggie were always the ones in the group who thought that way. Obviously, they wouldn’t actually do that, but that doesn’t mean that it wouldn’t be cool if they did.
Next they went to Peter Pan’s flight. Peter Pan had always been one of Reggie’s favorite characters because of his youth. Obviously before getting in line y/n had to take a picture of Reggie. God, he was gorgeous.
The wait was longer than what they had expected but it was worth it. The scenery was a beautiful sight. When they finally got to the end of the line, they gingerly entered their cart. The ride was chill like the one they had been on before. Reggie kissed y/n on the cheek before laying his head on y/n’s shoulder as they travelled through Neverland. All the animatronics looked so life-like and accurate to the movie. It would be crazy not to take just a few pictures.
The pair got off the ride and went on to the next one, then the next one, until they got hungry. Reggie texted Luke and Alex to find a place to meet up. They decided on the Be Our Guest restaurant. Once they all arrived, they felt underdressed. The restaurant looked exactly how you’d expect it to if you were living in the castle. The walls and tiles were yellow and blue, and the ceiling was painted with a renaissance-like picture.
“You guys seriously couldn’t have picked a more low-key place to eat?” Luke grumbled. This kind of thing had never been his style. He “hated” talking about the Disney princesses, he said they were too “feminine” for him.
“We came for the vibe, not the reality, loser,” Alex said. Reggie and y/n shook their heads. Sitting down for a little bit was quite refreshing. All 4 of them ate all the food they ordered, and it was a lot. But hey, they need their energy!
They sat in a little silence as they waited for their bill to arrive. They were all ready to go on more rides, but also ready for a nap. It’s too bad they were only spending the day there. A kick to the foot knocked y/n out of their daydream. “Ow,” they shouted.
“Oh sorry,” Alex said. “Me and Luke are going to be right back.” Y/n and Reggie looked at each other and laughed.
“Reggie, get your friends,” y/n laughed. Alex and Luke had been like this for a while now, and it was a little weird.
“I think they just went to take pictures,” Reggie shrugged. Y/n laughed.
“Yeah, of each other’s lips,” y/n said. Alex and Luke being a couple was always a theory that y/n and Reggie would talk about. After all, most times movie nights are with a group of people, not just with one person. Well it’s not like y/n and Reggie could speak on that either. They didn’t want Alex and Reggie to know about their relationship because they just wanted to keep it to themselves.
Then the couple pair came back. Alex looked completely normal while Luke’s shirt was super wrinkled.... like as if someone was grabbing at it.
“So where did you two go,” y/n asked with a smirk. Bothering Alex when he’s flustered was always a funny sight. He would never be able to say a single thing without chuckling or running his fingers through his hair.
“We uh-” Luke had to pause to think. “We went to go find a map.” Then he pulled one out of his back pocket, which he totally had way before. Le-let’s go on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride,” He stuttered.
“Thought you don’t like that stuff,” Reggie smiled.
“Well now I do,” Luke said as he grabbed his stuff.
The walk to Adventureland was long, but funny. Reggie couldn’t stop talking about that one time he dressed up as Jack Sparrow for y/n’s costume party last year. The same costume party where y/n and Reggie expressed their feelings for each other. The same costume party where they purposely hid in the closet so that nobody would know that they were officially together. The same costume party that nobody knew the full story about. “Guys, it literally was like 7 minutes in heaven,” Reggie beamed. “I felt like I could’ve gotten married right there.”
“Hey Reggie, do you remember how we agreed to not talk about that party,” y/n lied. They never had an actual agreement. Y/n just thought that neither of them would get close to exposing the truth.
“No, y/n,” Alex put his hand up. “I want to hear this one.” Y/n gave Reggie the look, hoping he’d understand and stop talking. He didn’t.
“Are you and this person still together,” Luke asked. Stop egging him on!!
“Obviously,” Reggie smirked as he put his arm around them.
“WHAT!” Alex and Luke yelled at the same time.
“I knew it, I knew it!” Alex cheered.
“Can you guys shut up?” Y/n grumbled.
“Yeah, are you guys going to get on the ride,” the operator asked. Woops.
“My bad, y/n,” Reggie whispered.
“It’s fine,” y/n said.
“It’s not fine,” Luke yelled. “This is huge, why didn’t you tell us?”
“You know what, Luke,” y/n turned around to face him. “In this ride there are probably real skeletons being used as props. If you don’t leave me alone I will donate yours to this ride when you die.” Luke sat back in his seat and fell silent. Saying things like that always worked with the guys.
When they got to the battle part, Reggie reached to hold y/n’s hand in his. Y/n squeezed his. They weren’t mad at him, they already knew Reggie was an airhead. This would have happened one way or another.
The four of them decided to go on Splash Mountain next. Y/n did this on purpose. They knew none of the boys knew that they’d get splashed on the ride. Perfect payback.
“Luke and Alex, I think you guys should sit in the front for this one,” y/n smiled.
“Why,” Alex asked.
“What, you don’t want to be the first ones to see everything,” y/n said sarcastically. The two boys shrugged in response.
They got into the raft with Luke and Alex sitting in the front and Reggie and y/n sitting right behind them. “So why are they sitting in the front,” Reggie whispered to them.
“It’s so that they’ll get splashed the most,” y/n laughed. And they did. On the first drop, they were moving their soaking wet hair out of the way of their eyes and screaming profanities. It didn’t help that there were little kids on the raft with parents yelling back at them to stop cursing. Y/n and Reggie sat back and laughed as their friends got soaked.
Luke and Alex were mad when they got off the ride and saw that y/n and Reggie were completely dry. “Y/n you did this on purpose,” Alex shouted.
“Yeah, I did,” y/n laughed. “So when were you guys going to tell us that you were dating?”
Alex and Luke’s jaws looked like they were going to hit the floor. “How did you know?” Alex asked
“You guys literally left us to go make out,” Reggie pointed out.
“Riiiiight,” Luke blushed.
“Yeah, so Reggie and I are going to go do ‘official couple’ things like go find Mickey and Minnie,” y/n smiled. “Let’s go, Reg.”
