It's not that you didn't love him. It was that you couldn't. He already had so much work piled on him. Late nights at the studio and being overworked by his company was already taking a toll on not only his physical, but mental health too. Now in these circumstances, he didn't need you to add on to that.

You were diagnosed with a brain tumor last week. The doctors had said that you would slowly lose your memory over time and the operation was risky.

“It’s best to tell your loved ones so they will know when the time comes.”

But how could you do that to Chan. You wouldn’t want him to worry about you and forfeit his career. Yes, he would be an emotional wreck if you left him, but it’d be worse if you left his world completely.

What hurt your heart the most though, was that the universe seemed to be playing tricks on you.

So you packed your bags and waited for him. When he got home, late at night, or you could say an early time in the morning, you sat him down. He was clearly worried. You knew him hearing his government name coming from your mouth would hurt him a little too deep.

The tears were threatening to push all boundaries and just fall. But you had to keep your resolve.

The box broke open revealing photos, a diary, a necklace, a phone, and a couple of CDs.

The items weren’t something you recognized. Probably Yuna’s, you thought. But curiosity got the best of you. Yuna wouldn’t mind… right? So you gathered the items together before actually looking at them. Shocked, was an understatement.

There was photos of you and no other than, Bang Chan, together. Cuddling, kissing, canoodling, everything you could possibly find in the books. There’s no way. The person you’ve been admiring for a couple of weeks was… was… was someone you were infatuated with.

You put the rest of the items back into the box and rushed to living room. Placing the box on the table, you took out a few CDs and placed one in the CD player. It was without a doubt, Chan’s voice coming through the speakers. His soft voice singing a love song. You then took out the diary. It contained little moments that you recorded. You grabbed the phone and opened it. Thank god it was unlocked. Thank the past you who was smart enough not to put a password on it. Opening your camera roll, there was gazillion pictures of you and him. Your phone book had only his number in it. Everything on that phone had to do with him. Even the small little widgets.

Memories flooded your mind. It was all of him. Everything about him. You took a deep and shaky breath. Looking at his contact on this phone, you contemplated on pressing it. You ended up pressing it anyway. Now the problem was, how to call him. It was too nerve-wracking. Though it was only about 10 seconds, it felt like hours until you pressed, call. The other end connected almost immediately.

"Y/n... Hello?"

Your breath hitched. It really was him. The voice, the person, the missing peice. You finally found it.

"Y/n, are you there? P-please let it be you. I ran from practice once I knew it was you. Hello? Please say som-"

And you hung up. Everything was finally clicking. Now you knew why you felt like you've known him since forever. Why you felt you had a missing piece. He was there all along and you were just too stupid to realize it.

You finally let your long held breath out. Your heart beating at a rapid pace. Everything felt so surreal. As much as you wished to deny it, you knew it was all true. ~~~ When the time of the concert came, you were ready. Emotionally, probably not. But physically, definitely. You placed the necklace around your neck. The one you had found in the box. It was a galaxie pendant with your's and Chan's intitials written on the back. You dressed exactly how he liked. Well not exactly, but close. He usually prefered you in what you were most comfortable in. But you knew he absolutely loved when you were fully in black. Preferably, a skin tight dress. So that's what you wore. You did a small touch of makeup with a coral shade of lipstick. It was his favortite shade on you. Even though he really liked your natural beauty.

You mustered up all the courage left in you and you went to the concert. Were you scared? The answer was yes. You weren't sure what to expect but that didn't mean it didn't made you scared.

Yuna managed to get her hands on V.I.P tickets which meant you could even go backstage. Your head was jumbled of all the things you were gonna tell him. It made you feel kind of guilty for leaving him like he was nothing just to run back to him. But you still loved him and you weren't gonna let anything get in the way this time.

Eventually, you made it. But you were now standing in the front, extremely nervous. What would he think when he saw you again? Would he be mad at you?

No one but you two knew of your previous relationship. So not even Yuna would have known that she was taking you to the one person you loved.

As soon as they entered the stage, you froze in place. Your eyes couldn't leave his figure. They followed every single one of his movements. What you didn't expect though, even though you should've, was when his eyes found you.

It was after the first song ended and they just started talking to the fans. As he scanned the gigantic crowd, his eyes softened. But when his eyes moved to the row in front of him, his eyes widened. They widened with shock, surprise, disbelief. There you were, standing in the audience of a concert for him. It has always been a dream of his to see you at his concert.

You took off as soon as you saw his eyes widen. You most definitely were not ready for that. You should’ve mentally prepared yourself better. Your heart wouldn’t stop beating rapidly. ~~~ It wasn’t until after the concert that you finally came back. Yuna had to drag you backstage. She kept teasing you for being so shy. But if only she knew. In the end, you were face to face with each of the members. You didn’t do anything, staying still.

Bang Chan had a whole lot of self control, to not run to you and hug you. But Yuna just had to have such a big mouth and said, “ Y/n’s favorite member is Chan! She had her eyes on you the whole time. Was even too nervous to come back here and meet you.”

You face completely flushed with a deep color of pink, immediately looking at Chan. Nervously chuckling as you inputted, “Y-yeah… haha..” Now you both were clearly uncomfortable. The silence kept between the two of you was insufferable as the others teased you. ~~~ Somehow, you were now trapped in a room with Chan. The others left to give you some “privacy,” or so the called it. It felt like hours before one of you finally spoke.

“Hey, y/n…” He said.

“Hey…”

“How’ve you b—”

“I’m sorry.”

“For what?”

“Everything.”

A few moments of silence fell between you again.

“I’m sorry for leaving you and saying things so horrible.” Now tears started clouding your vision as you talked. “I actually didn’t want that. It was all a mistake a-and I really really miss everything we had. I know I sound stupid. But I lied. I lied about everything and I should’ve told you the truth. I-I-I-I had a brain tumor.” Your tears were a full on waterfall now and they definitely weren’t stopping anytime soon. “And I was scared I would affect your career. I was scared that I would forget you, us and everything we had.”

Without a doubt, Chan was also crying. He quickly came to hug you and comfort you. He hushed you down.

“N-no it’s okay. I know it must’ve been hard. I should’ve kept pursuing you and staying by your side no matter what.”

“Don’t blame yourself. You had no choice but to believe me. I was the one who left.”

He just shook his head and held you as close as possible.

I actually think it's exactly the opposite of what he said. It's not that they didn't try hard enough to appeal to women. It's that they tried too hard.

I'm sure they thought they would have, like, K-pop girlies screaming at cute, cuddly lil Ezra Miller with his gender nonconformity and long gay hair. But they ended up turning their own main character into Jar-Jar Binks. Just a total weird spaz you don't want to spend time with. Peter Lorre looks like a chad next to this guy.

But A. men generally don't want to identify with aged, decrepit has-beens, no matter how many stunt doubles insist he can still kick ass.

3. They couldn't even get the pandering right, because they made the cute feminine Supergirl into an androgynous, monotone Supergirl with anger issues.

Surely, what DC fans really wanted was to take a character who's even more sunny and optimistic than Superman, strip her of all femininity, introduce her as a mass murderer, and then show her being killed repeatedly.

They weren't trying to appeal to men with this, obviously. What they were trying to do was appeal to a vocal minority of women who love taking attractive female characters and turning them into butch lesbians.

Thing is, most women like rom-coms more than war movies. They like it when 'their' characters are cute and relatable and even a little hot. There's a reason Julia Roberts movies are huge hits while Lisbeth Salander movies flop. Lesbians are literally a minority.

They also generally like it when the leading man is hot and noble. Maybe a little dorky, to show he's not some swaggering alpha male, but a guy who is able to handle himself and project authority, maybe even be somewhat cocky.

Which makes it amazing that this two hundred million dollar movie--the kind of money that studios only spend on concepts that are sure things--was instead seemingly designed to miss every possible audience segment except for Tom Cruise and Stephen King. How?

I honestly think that everyone involved was just completely out of touch with basic storytelling. That they thought people go to the movies only wanting to see a lot of special effects and cameos. And they actually accidentally replicated all the MCU's post-Endgame missteps in one toxic package.

Make the whole thing sexless and aromantic to avoid offending the hardcore feminists. But also sexualize the male lead to a weirdly exploitative extent (see point 1).

Overwork the CGI department to the point that the work is clearly not up to snuff.

A message from Julia Quinn regarding Francesca's story.

Dear Readers—

Many Bridgerton fans have expressed their surprise, and for some, disappointment in the twist at the end of Bridgerton Season 3--that Michael Stirling, with whom Francesca eventually falls in love in When He Was Wicked, would instead be Michaela.

Anyone who has seen an interview with me from the past four years knows that I am deeply committed to the Bridgerton world becoming more diverse and inclusive as the stories move from book to screen. But switching the gender of a major character is a huge change, and so when Jess Brownell first approached me with the idea of turning Michael into Michaela for the show, I needed more information before conferring my agreement.

I trust Shondaland's vision for Bridgerton, but I wanted to be sure that we could remain true to the spirit of the book and of the characters. Jess and I talked for a long time about it. More than once. I made it clear that it was extremely important to me that Francesca's abiding love for John be shown on screen. When I wrote When He Was Wicked I actually had to fight to have the first four chapters, which establish that love, included. My publisher was worried that writing about Fran's love for John would take away from Michael's role as the eventual romance novel hero. But I felt that if I didn't show how deeply she loved John, and how deeply Michael, his cousin, also loved him, then their feelings of guilt at falling in love with each other after John’s death made no sense. I didn't want to just tell the reader that they loved him. I wanted the reader to feel it.

I'm confident now that when Francesca has her Bridgerton season, it will be the most emotional and heart-wrenching story of the show, just like When He Was Wicked has always been the true tear-jerker of the Bridgerton book series. Honestly, it may pack even more of a punch, since John is getting a lot more time on the screen than he ever did on the page, and I think it's fair to say we've all fallen a little bit in love with him.

Thank you to readers and fans for your feedback. I am grateful for your understanding and touched by your deep commitment to the characters of the Bridgerton world. I ask that you grant me and the Shondaland team some faith as we move forward. I think we are going to end up with two stories, one on page and one on screen, and they will both be beautiful and moving.

The DAMN Crew has a Spotify playlist that Freelancer (Lev) started during one of their classes and invited the others to add to it.

Lev added “Wasteland” from NEONIE first. They've always liked the music, but after the inversion the line “got my pack, my pride, my brothers” hit a little different. They wanted the guys to know just how much they all meant to them.

When told that this playlist was to unwind and just enjoy each other's vibe, Lasko was, surprisingly, the next to add a song, choosing Girl in Red, loving the carefree summer vibe. He'd listen to ”I wanna be your girlfriend” while grading papers or documenting notes in his guidance counselor cases. He used to picture Lev in place of “Hannah” in the song, especially when they started hanging out one on one. “I don't wanna be your friend, I wanna kiss your lips” when he added that song, a slight flash of those feelings returned, but with his new partner in the kitchen making them coffee, he shrugged it off. He just likes Girl in Red.

Gavin likes jazz. The slow smooth music and round vocals. It's classy. The song "Fly me to the moon” played in a movie he and Lev watched very early on in their relationship. His hand on their hip, their head on his chest, he listened to them hum along, and the moment had been so perfect. He deemed it their song. He'd drown himself in it if he could. The version by The Macarons Project is his favorite.

Lev added Can't fight this feeling anymore to the playlist, dedicating it to Huxley and Damien after they'd all watched Rock Of Ages together. Huxley finds it funny and a bit sweet, listening to it whenever he's at work and missing Damien. Damien is embarrassed, feeling called out, but will listen to it and fantasize being held by Huxley like that. (Happens fairly often in the bedroom)

Heaven by Julia Michaels was put in by Lev in honor of Gavin, and after he actually listened to the words, he rifted right in the middle of a crowded DAMN-owned bus and into the apartment where he saw the walking out of the bathroom and he picked them up off the ground in a hug and kiss.

Pure imagination by Kathleen it's a lullaby for caelum that Lev found sometime after the inversion and before Caelum returned from Aria. They put it on the playlist too listen to when they missed him with the determination to sing it for him if he ever had an emotional attack like that again.

Stressed Out by Twenty One Pilots - The first song that Damien added to the playlist. He'd never say it to them but he loved TØP during adolescence, and only justified it by “well aren't we?” he says it's too relatable.

Centuries by fallout boy - Huxley added this for no other reason than immaculate vibes.

Warriors and bad liar by Imagine Dragons - Huxley added both of these to add some pump to his morning jogs. He loves Imagine Dragons and wants to get his friends into it.

I hear a symphony by Cody Fry - Lev added this song immediately after hearing it as a Spotify suggestion and got really emotional, sending a voice memo to the group chat, telling everyone to listen to the song and that they loved all of them.

Gavin added Immortal by Reinaeiry to the playlist after finding it coincidentally during an internalization of the Damn crew’s - particularly Freelancer’s - mortality. The lyrics made him cry, and he walked around the apartment parking lot around 2am while Lev slept soundly. These nights happened often as the years went on, but especially around each of their birthdays and he always feels guilty for feeling a littlesad while everyone else is having a blast.

Julia gave Michael the cold shoulder to warm up to Scruffy, and Courtney attempted to regain Bonnie’s trust after Caesar’s elimination the week before. Scruffy sits in a sunny patch of flowers somewhere on the furthest point of the island, far enough from the cabins to not have to worry about being disturbed. They leaf through their notepad, where various notes and half-scribbled drawings are put to paper, and then translate those notes to a leatherbound journal in their lap. 

The sound of an explosion, and then of Chris’ booming laughter over the intercom system momentarily causes them to pause their transcription and take some more notes on a fresh page of the pad. 

The journal is carefully handwritten in amazing penmanship, done in a black ink that glistens in the sunlight. Illustrations accompany a few of the sections, mostly of the anomaly Scruffy has been observing on the island- two-headed chipmunks, sentient venus flytraps, seemingly massive squid tentacles off in the distant reaches of the lake in the early hours of the morning. It perplexes them, half because there’s not nearly enough evidence of something serious to talk about it, half because they haven’t seen a single sign of radioactive material or robotic creatures scurrying around. 

Scruffy sighs, closing the notebook and placing it in a small, shallow grave under a large rock.

SCRUFFY: “I feel like I’ve been giving off a kind of secretive vibe lately, and that’s why I have all these other players on my back now. I’m not really hiding anything- I just don’t really need to share.”

Julia waves, sitting on one side of a very tired looking Michael at the end of the Anon’s table. Scruffy walks over, giving Scary a nervous smile as they glide past her, and then sits beside Julia. 

“Where’ve you been, Scruff?”

“Just taking some more notes, putting things on paper,” Scruffy shrugs, emphasizing the word notes so she’s sure they aren’t hiding anything. Julia doesn’t seem to care. 

“Oh, silly me. Have you met Mikey yet?” she says, gesturing to the green-haired girl beside her. Michael frowns at her friend, and then stares with a slight contempt at Scruffy. 

They look away. “Yeah, we’re acquainted,”

“Good, can’t have my two bestest friends in the whole world feeling left out, huh?” Julia beams, pulling them both in for a hug. She smirks at Max a little from across the table. He rolls his eyes.

MAX: “Whatever. I don’t need Julia, I don’t need Scruffy, and I definitely don’t need Michael. There are plenty of good players left! I mean, there’s… there’s… um…”

Austin sits across from the trio, Kelly nowhere in sight.

"Where's your owner at?" Julia teases.

He answers without missing a beat. "Tanning,"

JULIA: "It's not that I see either one of those clowns as a threat, but I'm not letting anyone fly under the radar. Not on my watch. Plus... he just annoys the crap out of me."

The sound of a plane buzzes over the mess hall, causing everyone to duck and cover their ears. 

Austin is the first out the door, followed by Kelly and the rest of the teams, who watch as Chris lands a large mustard-yellow (and barely stable) plane on the grass outside the mess hall. 

He hops out, tossing his helmet away and pulling out a megaphone. “Welcome, campers, to your very own- extreme! Sports! Challenge!”

Courtney gives Bonnie and McLovin an extremely nervous frown. 

“Today, your teams will be competing in a 3-part action-packed death-defying triathlon of lethal awesomeness! Your first challenge is extreme sofa skydiving!” He shouts into the megaphone, despite not being far from the campers. “One player from each team will skydive from this plane and land on a sofa bed waiting below- at least, you’ll hope they do!”

Chef slides the side door of the plane open and tosses two dilapidated parachute packs out, landing at the feet of either team. 

“And our lucky divers will be… Scary and Bonnie!” 

Scary giggles, grabbing the pack and putting it on before running off into the woods. Chris blinks.

“She’ll be back,” Scruffy says plainly. 

Courtney lifts the Fujoshis pack and helps Bonnie put it on. “You can do this! Remember, surviving is our teams only goal right now,”

“R-right,” Bonnie murmurs, shaky hands attempting to buckle the straps of the chute. 

“Before we get started, let’s talk about challenge number two- two victims- I mean, players- will be moose rodeo riding! In our original season, we had the loser launched into a pile of smelly socks, but we ran out. So, instead, we filled a moat around the pen with all the chewed gum Chef’s been collecting from the mess hall!” Chris chuckles, gesturing to a moose in a fenced in area, a large pit full of chewed gum surrounding it. The players wince. “And our competitors will be… Kelly and McLovin!”

Kelly smiles confidently while a look of fear crosses McLovin’s face. 

“And of course, for our final part: X-Treme Seadoo Water Skiing! Contestants will water ski this race course and grab as many flags as they can while an opposing team member drives the seadoo!” 

“Um…” Julia looks around the designated racing area. “Where’s the water?”

Scruffy leans to whisper in her ear. “There is none,”

“Well said, Scruff,” Chris grins. “It’s basically impossible. Austin and Courtney, you’re up for this one. Oh, and Fujoshis- try not to get too hurt. You guys are more of a group project than a team now... And for the winners, you’ll be rewarded with a tricked-out mobile shower!” 

Chris gestures to a small, shiny trailer at the peak of a hill. Just about every contestant oohs and ahs at it, while some jaws drop.

BONNIE: “Okay, even I’ll say it: I would die for that shower. I would kill for that shower. Any bathroom without a million dead flies in the toilet is like a luxury spa to me!”

Austin and Kelly sit in the confessional together. 

AUSTIN: “Right groovy, baby, I haven’t had a proper conditioning since I got here, yeah?”

KELLY: “Oh my gosh, tell me about it! My skin is so dead from all the hard water.”

AUSTIN: “I feel like an ally-gator skin purse, baby,”

Bonnie steps onto the plane as Scary follows, chewing a mouthful of gum they scooped from the moose moat. 

“Um… where’d you get the- actually, don’t answer that,” Bonnie says. 

The plane lifts off, and Bonnie’s knees shake as they see the ground disappearing. Scary chews faster. 

“Here comes the landing!” Chris shouts, opening the sliding door. The air whips around them, and before he can even tell them to go, Scary jumps out, blowing a massive bubble with their gum and floating off into the distance. 

Chris and Bonnie stare. “How is that even possible?” they shout. 

Chris shrugs. “I dunno, but you’re up next!”

He shoves them outside and they scream in pure terror, initially covering their eyes before remembering their pack and pulling the cords. The parachute pops out and Bonnie floats to the ground, landing on their feet right on the pull-out sofa. 

Courtney and McLovin cheer while the nearby Anons look around for where Scary went. 

“One point for the Fujos,” Chef says, half-heartedly waving a pink flag. Bonnie grins, throwing off the parachute. “That wasn’t so bad,”

“Your only goal is to stay on this angry, probably hungry moose for as long as possible,” Chris smiles, setting a ladder by the fence of the pen. “Whoever doesn’t die first wins!”

“Oh, whatever,” Julia says, turning to Kelly. “You better not lose this for us, your highness.”

Kelly shoves her out of the way and climbs up the ladder with ease, straddling the moose and holding on tight. They grin as Chef blares an air horn and the moose begins bucking, throwing them around with ease. 

“If they survive this, someone here owes me money,” Max sighs, hands on his hips. 

Michael rolls her eyes. “Thanks for the team spirit,”

The two glare at each other while Julia leans on Scruffy’s shoulder, watching the rodeo and ignoring her former friend’s plight. 

Kelly’s highly manicured nails have a sharp grip on the antlers of the beast and the entire crowd watches in relative suspense as the time on Chris’ stopwatch slowly runs out. 

Kelly hops off, landing on the ground in a somersault and popping back to their feet flawlessly. "Gymnastics fusion class!"

“A point for the Anons! Can the Fujoshis score on top of that?” Chris grins, looking to McLovin, who seems to shrink 2 feet in height. 

Chef walks over, hoisting up the thin guy and tossing him atop the still-raging beast. He screams in terror as it throws him around, and McLovin manages to hold on for a measly six seconds before it launches him into the gum-pit. Chef fishes him out, sticky and covered in wads of pink and blue. 

He groans in pain. Courtney and Bonnie both slightly wince. Michael rolls her eyes. 

“We have a tie!” Chris grins. “Whoever wins the Water Ski contest wins today’s challenge- and whoever doesn’t gets to send a sore loser home!”

Julia turns to Austin, who’s busy buttoning a Hawaiian shirt over the speedo he apparently owns. “You better not screw this up,”

“Relax, baby, I’ve got this. I’m winning that spa for me and my girl,”

“It’s for the team, doofus,” Julia snaps, then looks down at his shirt. “And why are you wearing that thing anyway?”

“Safety,” 

“Why do I even bother?” She sighs, walking away and dragging Scruffy behind her.

"He was wearing it during the cliff diving challenge, too," they murmur, using their free hand to check the early pages of their notes. "Huh."

“You sure you got this, Courtney?” McLovin asks, picking gum off of his shirt. “I don’t wanna see you get hurt.”

“Someone’s gotta do it,” they sigh, looking at the rest of the team- Bonnie still looks like they went through the spin cycle on a dryer and McLovin can barely stand. They set a hand on his shoulder. “I’ll be fine.”

Michael watches the display from a few feet away with a frown. Max- standing a bit further from her than his other teammates- takes note of her expression. "What's your problem?"

"None of your business," she snaps back, and then walks around the entire team to stand next to Julia and Scruffy on the other side.

Courtney hops onto the driver’s side of the vehicle, Austin flexing and posing until he grabs onto the handles. They rev up the jet and start off at the maximum speed, throwing Austin around like a ragdoll. He somehow manages to stay upright, cruising along on the pair of sandals he’s wearing without a care in the world. 

Courtney looks behind them every few seconds and growls as he picks up yet another flag. 

He laughs. “Yeah, baby, yeah!”

A button pops off his shirt and a flash of fear crosses his face. He looks down nervously. 

Julia crosses her arms with a wide grin.

Julia smiles, holding up a pair of scissors.

A few more buttons pop off. 

“Oh, no, baby… that’s not good,”

Scruffy turns to Julia and sees her smiling. “What did you do?”

 The remaining buttons pop off and his shirt flies open, revealing a shockingly perfectly sculpted hairy chest underneath. Julia’s jaw drops. The rest of the contests stop what they’re doing and stare in absolute awe.

Courtney turns back to see what everyone’s looking at and becomes so distracted the vehicle crashes straight into a rock on the course, sending Austin flying across the entire area, over the cabins, all the way out to the campfire area and directly into the stone wall behind it.

AUSTIN: "I'm aware of the effect I have on birds. and blokes. everyone, really, I'm shagadelic baby yeah!"

The contestants, Chris, and Chef run over to see his crushed, flattened pancake-like body slide down the side of the cliff face and onto the dirt while he groans weakly. 

“Well… um, I guess we have our winners, then,” Chris says. “Fujoshis, you’ve somehow survived another day!”

Bonnie and McLovin cheer, and Courtney (still a bit dazed from the crash) walks over and grins. 

“Anons, I’ll see you tonight,”

Bonnie steps out of the luxury shower, wearing a fuzzy lavender robe and sighing happily. Courtney follows, peeling cucumbers off their eyes and stretching. “Well… that challenge was something,” 

“Something, yeah. Man, Caesar would’ve loved that!” Bonnie smiles. “I hope he’s doing okay.”

“Anyone off this island should be alright. I think we’re doing okay ourselves, though,” they chuckle, walking beside their friend to the cabins in a comfortable silence. 

Courtney sighs for a moment. “But… there’s still something on my mind,”

“Hm?”

“You know when Michael was in the cabin with us, and she warned us about MC? What do you think she meant?”

Bonnie thinks for a moment. “Well, it definitely couldn’t have been anything too serious, right? Look at the guy, he’s like a puppy,”

“I know, it’s just… I keep going over why she would say something like that. Is she trying to throw us off?”

“I don’t know, Courtney. Let’s just try to focus on staying in the game for now,”

“Anons, looks like one of you is finally going home!” Chris chuckles, the marshmallow platter in his hands. “In case you’ve forgotten, these are marshmallows- symbols of hope and safety. If you don’t get one, you have to walk the dock of shame, board the boat of losers, and never return. Ever! Ready?

The respective players catch their treats as Chris tosses them. Austin looks nervous from within the full-body cast he’d been set in. 

“Austin- you crashed hard. And Julia, you accidentally sabotaged your team out of petty spite. And yet…” he throws her a mallow. “You still have working legs, dude. Chef?”

Chef walks over, picking up Austin’s stiff body and carrying him to the docks. Kelly follows. 

“I’ll win for us, no matter what!” Kelly whispers. Austin says something back, but the cast covers his mouth and garbles his words. 

They manage to give him one last kiss over the bandages before the boat speeds off. 

---

Michael looks through the cabin window as Scruffy and Julia walk by, laughing. Both team buildings have been left completely abandoned as everyone flits about with their friends, enjoying the warm night- except for Michael.

Courtney and Bonnie are painting each other’s nails at a picnic table across the grassy knoll, Kelly is making macramé with Staci in the crafts tent, and Scary has been nowhere to be found for hours. 

She sighs, standing away from the window just in time to hear a knock at the door. Michael raises an eyebrow, and then cautiously approaches to open it. McLovin is standing outside on the porch, hands behind his back and a slightly apologetic look on his face. 

“Great. What?” she asks, crossing her arms. 

He points up to his head, where still several wads of gum are stuck. 

“Seriously?”

“Courtney and Bonnie are busy,” he insists. “And I don’t know who else…”

Michael thinks for a moment, sighs, and then holds the door open a little wider for him to come inside. He takes a seat on the floor after she moves the rug, and she pulls a pair of scissors out of one of the nightstand drawers, walking over to kneel above him. 

Michael delicately cuts away the gum, dropping it on the floor behind her until most of it is gone, save for a few sensitive spots she wouldn’t try for. McLovin’s hair is now patchy and choppy, but still there. 

He stands up, mutters a quick thank you, and hurries to the door. 

“Don’t think this changes anything,” Michael says, picking up the gum and dumping it in the room’s garbage bin. “I still hate you.”

McLovin frowns. “Likewise,” and then he leaves, slamming the screen door behind him. 

Max watches as McLovin hurries out of the girl's side of the cabins with a perplexed expression. He'd been sitting on the porch steps by himself for almost an hour now and couldn't remember any of his teammates going inside.

He thinks to himself for a moment before standing and ducking over to the window, peering inside to see a slightly-dejected looking Michael pull the rug back to its place and sit on the bed with a sigh.

Somewhere off in the distance, Julia and Staci scream in argument over the last communal bathroom stall with a working lock. Michael's head turns in that direction and Max ducks away, hoping she hadn't seen him. He dashes off with a confused look on his face.

Many scholars from the Order of Stearne have tried to write and pinpoint exact details on what happens when different species mix. All of them have been unsuccessful. The Johnson brothers are two siblings, from the same parents of different species. An occurrence that has been documented only a few times in history. Hunter’s father was a witch, his mother a werewolf.

Hunter’s brother’s powers emerged early and he excelled in witch craft. His father was always determined to train him into the perfect witch. Hunter was a different story. His teen years passed and he was… human. He’d always expected magic to emerge, but it never did. For one part of him, this was a relief. It meant he was normal. He could have a girlfriend and get married, have kids. Be normal. He didn’t have to worry about hunters. But for the other side of him. It Is Time For An Intermission:

Maren Morris drops an extended play as a layover to her next album. She uses this short record to address things that she felt she needed to get off her chest. She’s had some significant life events take place and she’s been on a journey of figuring life out now that she is single again. So lets take a dive into this release.

The extended play opens with the first release ‘Cut!’ which features Julia Michaels. This pop track makes it clear that Maren has distanced herself from country music, and now is venturing in a new direction. It is a catchy track in which she sings about putting on a front when she is amongst others, however once she is on her own its a different story. This entirety of seeming your okay as you don’t want anyone to know how you really feel, however once in seclusion you let go allowing yourself to feel what you actually feel. The verses feature a prodding beat, however it lifts for the chorus and the outro. Both their voices work great together and the outro finds a way to utilise the title of the extended play.

We move onto ‘I Hope I Never Fall In Love’ which switches up the mood into this more emotive and dreamy moment. Maren doesn’t seem to want to fall in love again, it seems that her previous relationship has put her off. She closes that door with certainty that she’ll not allow herself to fall for someone in that way ever again. There is a throwback vibe to the track due to the production choices. Its percussion led and it would be great choice for a slow dance moment. Her soaring background vocals during the final chorus are beautiful. 

Maren is carefree on ‘Push Me Over’ where she seems to be wanting a situationship, rather than something serious. She wants to live in the moment rather than thinking too much of the situation. Its a playful track that will have you nodding your head to its throwback beat. The production lifts for the bridge and her soaring vocals take over for the final chorus. It is a well crafted song and one that feels infectious in nature. A track that could definitely accompany a workout session. 

‘Because, Of Course’ follows and there is an urgency to the beat here. Here she expresses the extent of her love and she lets it be known that she’ll be there for this person in whatever way they may need. Those one feels grand and powerful, which in turn gives it, its uplifting nature. The chorus immediately draws you in and then the vocals over the final chorus are magnificent, highlighting the power she holds vocally. You as your find yourself fully lost in its vastness. 

Now ‘This Is How A Woman Leaves’ is a perfect note to end the record on. It feels so empowering as she lets it be known that she’s not someone who’s dependent on anyone else. She can do all that she needs herself. This feels vulnerable and powerful at the same time, it has a feeling of intimacy just before it lifts into the grandness of the bridge that fills up the space around you. You feel as though you are being lifted by those soaring vocals and then she brings it back down to end on these lyrics that pack quite the punch. 

Overall this extended play is a great body of work that gets you even more excited for her next full length project. She sings about the demise of her marriage, how its impacted her views in relation to love and how she’s managing on her own. There is vulnerability, power and raw emotions packed into this five track body of work. It is a must listen from amongst this years releases. Maren deserves every ounce of recognition as she is a once in a lifetime talent.
