he’s very clean, his stuff is always very organized, sometimes he organizes your thing for you

he reads in his free time and leaves you manga recommendations

he’s a big foodie, always making food and trying new places

he actually does have games on his phones, he plays clash of clans otw to his missions

he always has very clean nails/hands, very very pretty hands

one night the two of you are lying in bed (with an awkward amount of space between the two of you) when you're overcome with an unusually high amount of guilt. you roll over onto your side to look at him. he's still awake, staring outside at the stars. before you can say anything, he types something out on his phone — really fast — and gives it to you. the bright light hurts your eyes, and you have to squint to read the words.

your eyes trace the stars path as you murmur a wish, propping yourself up on one elbow to get a better look. inumaki looks detached, distant as he — you assume — makes his wish, too.

"what did you wish for," says the monotonous voice of the text to speech app.

"i can't tell you," you reply. "my wish won't come true that way."

he shakes his head obstinately.

"it's just us here, so it's fine," says text to speech.

"i wished for you to get your happily ever after," you confess finally. "i took away any hope you had of a proper relationship, and—"

"shut the fuck up," the monotone voice tells you, and toge is scrambling up to switch the lamp on and scribble something on one of the post-its from the pile that you consistently keep refilling every day. he shoves it unceremoniously into your hands, and it takes all of thirty seconds for the words to register in your brain.

"what the fuck, are you serious right now?"

he grins awkwardly at your reaction, not knowing if it's a positive response or not, but then a moment later, it all becomes clear.

"i'm not really sure about it..." you sighed, standing in front of the mirror for what seemed like an eternity now.

you bought this dress a few days ago, but it's been on your mind for months. however, now that you finally had it, wearing it, you weren't sure. you liked it, yes, but something was telling you that it doesn't look as good on you as you previously imagined it would.

now you were getting ready for a date night with your boyfriend, happy to wear your new dress. it made you feel anything but confident though.

"what do you think?" you turned to look at inumaki, who's been seated on the couch and watching as you observed at your reflection. "does it look good?" you added, doing a little spin so that he can see it well from every angle.

"salmon." he mumbled with a little nod. you sighed, turning back to the mirror with a grimace.

he hated that. he wished he could tell you how beautiful you look, how lucky he is to have someone like you, but he can't. and he hates it. but at the same time, he couldn't just let you believe all those nonsense insecurities. he knew he had to intervene.

focused on the way you look, you didn't even notice inumaki walking out of the living room.

a few minutes later he came back, letting out a small cough to catch your attention. you turned around again, raising an eyebrow as you saw him carrying a stack of papers.

"what's that?" you asked, pointing at his hands.

your boyfriend walked closer, striking a pose, as he raised first sheet above his head. "beautiful" was written on it, a few red hearts drawn all over the page.

your eyes widened slightly, but you couldn't hold back the little smile which appeared on your face. inumaki kept on changing the little signs in his hands, showing you every single one. "so cute", "breathtaking", one word of this kind was written on each paper. you chuckled as he showed you another one, he clearly wasn't sure how to spell "gorgeous".

finally, he ended his little presentation with the last sign - "10/10".

you leaned in to kiss his cheek with a smile, which resulted in a small blush painting his cheeks. "thank you, i needed that." you said gently.

he already knew he will use these signs more often from now on.

Unexpected raindrops chased you and Toge down the school’s entrance, until you made it safely under the roof of the dorm’s hallway. You turned around, panting and watching as the rain poured down, angrier by the second. If you would’ve known the morning sun would disappear like that a fluffy sweater would’ve been your outfit of choice, instead of your current sleeveless shirt. Icy wind provoked shivers down your spine. You turned towards Toge, who had left his bags on the floor, palms against his knees. He yanked down his collar to breathe better.

“That was close! Are you alright? Did the rain soak you?”

“Okaka” he shook his head, standing straight and ruffling his slightly damp hair. The sight warmed your chest, the way his silvery hair strands reflected the light and his lavender irises searched for yours, a smile slowly found a home in your lips. Your childhood friend rose his brows and pointed towards you with his chin “tuna?”

“I’m fine” you tried blinking away the sudden wave of adoration that washed over you, biting your tongue to suppress the way your body had started to shiver.

His eyes noticed though. They always did.

“Takana?” he motioned 'cold' by putting his hands over opposite shoulders, rubbing his arms.

“No, no i’m okay, let’s just go back to your room and leave this bags there.”

Toge eyed you up and down, clearly not convinced, but he picked up his bags and then walked up to you. Your eyes curiously watched him, lips smiling wider, until his hand swiftly stole one of your bags right from your hands.

“Hey!” you clicked your tongue, quickly trying to get it back “Come on, I can carry it, it’s not that heavy.”

Biting his lip to stop a chuckle, he stepped away from you and held all his bags in is right hand, extending his arm and keeping them as far from you as he could.

“Okaka” he stuck his tongue out, left hand finding yours and intertwining fingers, pulling you towards his dorm. The familiarity of his touch always felt like suddenly being complete. Ever since you were kids, his presence was the only thing that would give you that spark of happiness. No one else would make your smile reach your eyes like him. He was the only one. Smiling again, you bumped his shoulder with yours.

“I see, you just wanted and excuse to hold my hand!”

Toge rolled his eyes, tilting his head away from you.

“Blablabla”

You gasped, laughing afterwards and pushing him with your shoulder once again.

“Toge!”

He chuckled, a bright smile decorating his lips and a sigh of content leaving yours. You squeezed his hand, relishing in the warmth that his touch provided. It didn’t take long to finally get to his door at the end of the hallway, and the moment he let go of your hand to open the door it suddenly felt like the rain had found a way to get inside your bones. So you went back to biting your tongue and tensing your body’s muscles to keep down the involuntary trembling. The door opened with a creak, and hoping to take shelter from the threatening wind you hurried inside, heading directly towards the table to place the only bag you had been left with. Toge closed the door and soon placed the remaining bags next to yours. Unlike the wet chilly wind outside, the icy atmosphere of the dorm room felt more like empty dry cold, and it ended up making your body shudder once more. Toge’s eyes stared at you intently, quirking an eyebrow.

“Don’t look at me like that, I’m fine” crossing your arms you cleared your throat.

Chuckling, he extended his arms towards you and motioned for you to come close with his hands. “Come here” you almost heard the well known but rare sound of his voice out loud. You raised your eyebrows, a hearty laugh escaped your chest.

“Can’t you just offer me a sweater or something?”

Toge frowned in annoyance, pulling a face and waving you off. You laughed once again as he walked right past you.

“Wait! No!” chuckling, you hurried to stop him, tugging from his jacket “A warm hug would be nice”

With a knowing smile, Toge turned around and hugged you, sliding his arms right underneath yours and almost picking you up.

“Woah, you were eager for a hug weren’t you?” you giggled as your arms wrapped around his neck, placing a quick kiss in cheek.

Toge snorted and looked away, a soft hint of pink tinting his cheeks.

“Okaka”

“You’re such a bad liar!” you laughed and ran your fingers through his hair, brushing the tip of your nose against his.

Toge sighed, a smile tugging gently from the corners of his lips. He then leaned in an kissed your right cheek, then the left one, then your nose, and quickly started peppering your face with little kisses, making you laugh.

“Toge!” you tried to pull away for a second, but his arms around your waist didn’t let you.

In the middle of laughter, you stopped him by cupping his face in your hands, his soft violet eyes shining with slight mischief when they rested on yours. This time it was your turn to sigh.

“I love you Toge” the words left your lips naturally, just as the feelings had surged in your chest throughout the years.

His smile widened, and then he leaned in the rest of the way to catch your lips with his. The feeling of his lips sliding on top of yours so tenderly and sweetly made sure to warm your face in an instant, that feeling of love blooming in your chest chasing away the coldness that had taken ahold of your muscles before. So did his soft silvery hair strands in between your fingers, the smell of that cologne you had bought for him years ago lingering in his clothes, and the taste of that lip balm you had been sharing for the past few months. The cold had been long forgotten there in the arms of the only true love you had ever known.

nobara and yuji help you pack; to say the least, you're nervous. a whole week with someone you barely know. you stuff your clothes haphazardly into the bag, barely listening to anything they're saying.

"y/n! stop zoning out, did you hear what i said?"

"no, sorry yuji," you reply automatically.

"he said, inumaki may be a bitch and a brat sometimes, but he's a good guy," nobara tells you helpfully.

"that's not what i said!"

you raise an eyebrow. "a good guy, yet you called him a bitch and a brat in the same breath."

"hey, i'm just being honest!" nobara tosses another pair of jeans at you. "this'll do. close it, yuji!"

"yes ma'am!"

you smile at the sight of them — two of your best friends — even as their chatter dissolves into giggling and hitting each other on the shoulders. "i'm really lucky to have you guys," you say aloud.

"what's all this sappy bullshit?" questions megumi from behind you. "since when do you like us?"

"y'know, just saying. in case i get murdered at inumaki's."

megumi groans unamusedly, but hands you a bag anyways. "snacks for later."

saying goodbye to them feels like you're getting married in the 1950s and leaving your parents' home forever, even though you'll be gone for a week at most, and you already know you'll be texting them all day. still, it's extremely nerve-wracking to spend even an hour in the same place as inumaki, alone. megumi drives you there, a surprising gesture considering he's always on your ass for not driving yourself. and then he's leaving again, and you're standing at the doorstep of an enormous penthouse like you're homeless, ringing the doorbell while you pray to be struck down by something else — you're not really sure what.

toge inumaki opens the door, and from the start it's clear that he's not expecting you. his hair — or what can be seen of it, anyways — is messy, and he looks like he's just woken up. (is he even wearing pants?) his eyes widen when he sees you. "shit, this early?"

"i think i'm exactly on time," you reply coldly.

"what?" he fishes his phone out of his pants pocket — to your relief, he is wearing shorts — and checks the time. "oh what the hell, i overslept."

"yeah..." you don't feel quite as enthusiastic.

"um, i'll show you to your room, and then we can draft out the formatting when i have breakfast."

breakfast? it's a little past three in the afternoon, but oh well. he shuts the door, then clears his throat. you turn to look at him, and your heart jumps up to your throat. he's pulled the hood down to reveal his pale, messy hair, and you forget who he is just long enough to register the fact that he's terribly attractive, even with the bedhead and puffy eyes. and then you remember that he's a stuck-up loser prick, and the thought is forced away from your mind. "yeah?"

"it's just comparing our routines, right?" he asks you. "for an entire week."

you nod, still speechless from the momentary revelation from half a minute ago. the heat on your cheeks refuses to dissipate.
