December Event
Sweet Pea loaded your arms up with plush toys and patted your head. “There you go elf. Off you pop.” He said and grinned when you glared at him for a moment. You’d told him to stop calling you elf but he had smiled to himself and grinned.
Carefully carrying the toys over to Toni’s wrapping station you pulled them up with the help of Fangs. “How’s Sweet Pea treating you?” Fangs asked as he took the last of the toys and you turned to follow Sweet Pea to your new job.
“He keeps making fun of me.” You muttered.
“Does he. What if he just really likes you and gave you a fun nickname.” Fangs said eagerly. You rolled your eyes as you walked away and Toni laughed with Fangs.
“What’s next?” You asked Sweet Pea as you headed over to his table.
“I need more of these tins. We have to make sure there’s two in each of these boxes.” Sweet Pea said as he pointed out the boxes and gave you a list. You took it and headed off to the makeshift storage section. Jughead had mentioned that they were short handed on help for the Serpents christmas run. Betty, Archie and Veronica were all delivering boxes and helping drive donations to the Wyrm. You’d been deemed too small to do the heavy lifting and Sweet Pea had offered to have you help him. As you searched for the items on the list you didn’t notice someone else knocking into the shelf which fell, narrowly missing you.
“Elf!” Sweet Pea said as everyone hurried over to the shelf.
“Weirdly, this is not the first time Sweet Pea has failed to NOT mention elves in a crisis situation.” Fangs said as he grinned upon seeing that you were fine.
“I found them.” You said in surprise.
“Are you ok?” Sweet Pea asked.
“I am but I think they’re stuck.” You said, pointing at the person who had their leg stuck. Everyone hurried to get the shelf up and helped the trapped person to a seat. Sweet Pea led you back to his spot.
“Maybe you should put the things in the box and I'll fetch things.” Sweet Pea said with a grin. You were sitting down in Sweet Pea’s seat, your feet swinging as you looked over the checklist for each box.
“I can do this.” You said. Toni hurried over with snacks and a hot chocolate for you. Sweet Pea sat on a stool and took the boxes you packed, setting them on a trundle so that he could take them out to load them into the truck Archie was driving.

Jughead Jones is the biggest grinch in Riverdale; Betty Cooper was named ‘Betty the Elf’ in second grade.
When the line cook from Pop’s and the second grade teacher are thrown together to save Christmas from Hiram Lodge’s scheming, will they be able to change each other’s minds about the holiday? Or will a little Christmas miracle, helped out by their friends, lead to more than a New Year’s kiss?

“So candy, candy canes, candy corns, and syrup?”
“Yep! All the main elf food groups, but never chocolate chip pancakes. I don’t like chocolate chip pancakes.”
“That’s where you draw the line? Interesting yard stick you’ve got there but not to worry. If anyone offers you chocolate chip pancakes with me around, I’ll be more than happy to take them off your hands.”
Abandoned at the Sister’s of Quiet Mercy at birth, young Betty saw her chance for escape late one Christmas Eve while Santa’s sack lay unattended and climbed on in. Anything had to be better than the Sister’s. Anything.
Though Betty grew up at the North Pole wholeheartedly accepted by the elf community, she knew she didn’t quite fit in despite the elves’ best efforts to pretend otherwise. It was sweet of them to try, but it was a little difficult to believe you were also an elf when your shoe size and height were double that of everyone else. However, her overabundance of Christmas cheer, mechanical aptitude, and enviable organizational skills more than made up for what she lacked in toy making speed, and she quickly rose through the ranks to Head Elf...until one year she looked at the Naughty or Nice list and found her human father’s name on it. The horror!
And so, armed with her indomitable Christmas spirit (and holiday sweater collection), she headed off to New York to get to the bottom of this mystery. After all, Betty had never met a mystery she didn’t like and was well known throughout the Pole for finding all of the cookie thieves with ease. Surely this would be no different. Right?
She’d only planned to go to New York, handle The Issue At Hand, and return home right quick, but Betty soon discovered that things rarely went as intended in the human world. Her dad, as it turned out, kind of sucked, and the North Pole was woefully behind on technological conveniences that she was absolutely taking notes on in her diary for ways to reconfigure the North Pole when she got back home (Yes, that escalator was terrifying at first, but she rather liked not having to climb stairs.), and she met a rather distracting human she needed to spend more time with.
His name was Jughead and despite his rather unorthodox (read: emo) elf costume, he was far and away the best and most interesting person Betty had ever met—human or elf—even if he tried to pretend otherwise. The Nice list didn’t lie though, and Forsythe Pendleton Jones III was definitely on it. (One simply didn’t take on an additional Lacy’s North Pole elf job to make sure their sister could have the Christmas of their dreams and not get on the Nice list.) They had so much in common too and could talk about all manner of things for hours! (She also liked singing with him but did still feel a bit bad about accidentally imposing on his shower time to do it. Whoops.) Betty was not quite ready to let their time together end, a sentiment he seemed to echo.
Unbeknownst to Betty, the North Pole was not doing so well with Christmas Eve prep without her meticulous attention to detail. She’d left a detailed list (complete with step-by-step instructions) behind for everyone to follow, but did they check it twice? No. No, they did not.
Will Betty’s dad see the error of his ways? And will Betty and Jughead save Christmas and have a “happy holiday ever after”?
(Thanks to Betty’s Christmas spirit and mechanical prowess along with Jughead’s rather reluctant singing, how could it not have a happy ending! Honestly, what kind of a heartwarming holiday story would this be if it didn’t?)

🌷 Family game night with Jughead & FP (reader being Jug’s year younger sister)
I’m starting on my sleepover asks now! I’m doing the drabble ones in a random order of when I feel inspired to do them so I promise I’m not ignoring yours if it takes a while!
“No, no no no. What is it?” Jughead prodded the paper in front of him harshly, his finger touching the page just underneath where he had drawn a picture. Of what? That was what happened to still be unknown. The family of three had been sat there for what felt like ten years, trying to decipher whatever Jughead had scribbled onto the paper.
“Wait, what are we looking at here?” FP asked, whilst his daughter - Jughead’s younger sister - was cackling with laughter beside him, tears streaming down her cheeks by how much she had been giggling.
The Jones family hadn’t always been too close at Christmas. This was the first year that FP, Jughead, and Y/N would be having a good Christmas together after FP’s drinking problem throughout their childhood. Whilst their mother and younger sister wouldn’t be with them for the holidays, it was special to have the three of them together again, in a good relationship. FP was sober for months at this point, and the siblings weren’t couch surfing anymore.
Their family was happy. Finally.
Game night on Christmas Eve had been Y/N’s idea initially. It was no hiding that Christmas was her favourite holiday, and she wanted to make it extra special since it was going to be a good Christmas with the family. Though a game of Pictionary clearly had just lead to frustration when Jughead and his horrible drawing skills had their turn at the game.
“Come on! It’s so easy!” Jughead groaned and prodded the paper again, as if that would help him, whilst FP just squinted his eyes and tilted his head a little.
“A tree?”
“No!” Jughead yelled, before the timer that indicated the end of the round had gone off. “Come on, guys, it’s Elf! You know - the Christmas movie?”
“That’s an elf?” Y/N tilted her head a little before she just burst into laughter again and leaned into her father, who had slung an arm around her shoulders as he started chuckling too.
“I’ve told you before, I write. I don’t draw.” Jughead grumbled as he took his seat back on the sofa on the other side of Y/N, lifting up his half-consumed cup of hot-chocolate to have the rest of it. “You two just need your eyes checked.”
“Sorry your drawing sucks.” Y/N giggled and playfully nudged her older brother’s leg as she stood up.
The young girl lifted up the marker that had been previously used and turned the Pictionary board to a new page - where, after uncapping the pen and starting the timer, she started to draw a dog paw.
About five seconds went past before FP clicked his fingers as he sat up a little. “Oh! That’s Santa Paws.” He told his daughter, who nodded as she jumped up and down in success.
Jughead glanced between the two in bewilderment, his mouth hanging open. “Are you kidding me? You don’t get Elf but you get Santa Paws? How- when have you even seen Santa Paws?” He turned to look at his dad as Y/N started giggling, clearly finding entertainment in her older brother’s annoyance as she sat back down in between them again.
“Just accept that you’re a sore loser and move on.” She giggled, playfully winking at Jughead as she got her own mug of hot chocolate to drink some, smiling into her drink when her father had started chuckling beside her as well.

I Hate Christmas, But You Don’t.(Sweet Pea x Reader)
Summary: Nobody can understand why Y/N won’t get into the festive spirit.
Word Count: 3,172
Gif Not Mine. Requests Are Open!
Warnings: Swearing?
December 3rd. No matter where I look I can't escape the festive season. Jovial Christmas songs ring out over the school speakers, tinsel hangs from ceilings and there is a rather large tree decorated with blue and white baubles in the corner of the student lounge. Everybody seems happier, cheerier now that Christmas is near. Students eagerly handing out cards and giving hints as to what their gifts are. I'm surrounded by the Christmas spirit and I hate it. Placing my books in my locker, I try not to watch as everybody shares giddy smiles with one another. Each discussing how excited they are now that December 25th is near. As I close my locker and press my back against it, I spot two of my best friends approaching me from across the hall. Veronica and Betty both look extremely jolly and as much as I am glad that they're happy, I can't help but wish the entire Christmas period could just end. As they stand in front of me with beaming smiles on their faces, I notice that they're both sporting Christmas jumpers. Both of which are hideous and presumably incredibly itchy. Why anybody would embarrass themselves like that is beyond me. "Y/N, we need a favour from you." Raising my eyebrows at the girls in front of me, I watch as Betty holds out a small bag for me to take. Upon opening it, I find myself pulling out a jumper just like theirs. An elf is printed on the front, complimented by a series of bells around the collar. It's potentially worse that Veronica's and Betty's combined. So bad in fact that I actually start to believe this may be a joke. Some sort of prank in which they wanted to capture my reaction on camera. "What the fuck is this?" I ask, shaking it slightly so that the bells ring together in chorus. Several students glance our way as I hold up the monstrosity that is the Christmas jumper. No doubt they're thinking the same thing as me and I genuinely begin to feel embarrassed even holding the thing. "It's a Christmas jumper. We want you to wear it and help out with the Christmas market. All of the River Vixens are doing it so you have to take part." Veronica states, the wide grin never leaving her face. "Even Cheryl is wearing one." Betty comments, pointing down the hallway. Turning my head, I spot Cheryl Blossom wearing a red jumper decorated with a snowman. She's paired it with a black mini skirt and somehow manages to rock the look, despite the complete ugliness of the jumper. "You see. You have to help now." Betty hesitates slightly as she notices the scowl on my face, her eyes pleading with me to say yes. Looking down at the jumper, I scream internally. I hate Christmas. I hate Christmas. I hate Christmas. As much as I want to help Veronica and Betty and the Vixens, I would much rather stay out of their festive antics. It's just not for me. "No." "What? What do you mean no?" Veronica asks, the smile on her face now replaced with a slight frown. "I said no. I'm not wearing this stupid jumper and I'm not helping out with your Christmas market." I tell them, shoving the jumper towards Betty before I stomp down the hallway trying to calm the anger rising within me. December 4th. Flipping through the channels on the tv I find myself groaning after realising there is nothing to watch. That's a lie. The only thing playing on the tv is the same five Christmas movies on every single channel. Throwing the remote at the wall, I lean back into the sofa with an exaggerated huff. "What did the tv do to you?" Sweet Pea asks with a chuckle, placing two steaming mugs of coffee on the table. Shrugging aggressively, I decide not to make eye contact with him as he joins me on the couch. We sit in silence for a few minutes, the only sound being the traffic outside of my house. Sweet Pea's hand cautiously moves over to rest on my thigh, his fingers delicately stroking my jean clad leg. "I saw you get mad at your Northside friends yesterday. Anything you want to talk about?" I roll my eyes as I push his hand away from me. Not wanting this conversation right now, I choose to take a sip of coffee hoping that he will get the hint that I don't want to talk. Alas, this is Sweet Pea I'm talking about and he never knows how to take a hint. Instead he waits patiently with his gaze locked on me, determined that I answer his question. "Why would I want to talk about it? Everything's fine." A soft laugh escapes his lips as I speak. Glaring at him slightly, I cross my arms over my chest and push myself deeper into the couch. The red tint on my face is most likely noticeable as I continue to listen to the sweet sound of Pea's giggles. No matter how discreet he tries to be, I still manage to hear him. "Babe, you threw a jumper at them. That isn't really normal behaviour." His hand moves again, yet this time it rests on my arm. He tries to tug me up ever so slightly. Simply so he can get a better view of my face, though I make this as hard as possible for him as I sink all of my bodyweight into the couch. "I'm not talking about this with you Pea." I admit, finally allowing him to pull me up so that I can face him. His eyes drink in my expression, as though he's making sure that he's reading me correctly. When a small smile appears on his face, I can't help but smile too. Even if I really don't want to. Pea presses a soft kiss to my nose, before taking my hands in his. "Aright. So when are you putting your decorations up?" He asks, trying to change the subject. "I don't want to talk about Christmas." December 11th. Sweet Pea, Toni, Cheryl and Fangs stand at one side of the park. Betty, Veronica, Jughead and Archie stand at the other end. The scene is peaceful, tranquil even. That is until the Great Snowball War of Riverdale commences. You would never guess that the eight of them were teenagers as they ran through the snow, huring it at one another with tremendous force. Wrapped up in my large winter coat, I stay perched on the bench. Fortunately I was able to stay out of the action due to their being an odd number. Hence why I'm sat on the bench with a warm drink in my glove covered hands. As I watch the gang in front of me, I laugh quietly as I see Sweet Pea tackle Fangs to the ground, pushing snow into his face. Even when they're on the same team they can't seem to play nice. I smile as I watch Sweet Pea dance around victoriously, thinking he won simply for his attack on Fangs. Though when Fangs, Jughead and Toni all dive at the taller Serpent it's evident that he is not in fact the winner. "You should join us. It's pretty fun, no matter how stupid we look." Cheryl says, taking a seat next to me on the wooden bench. Her cheeks are tinted red and her normally flawless hair is damp from the snow. Diverting my gaze back to the group I see that they all have Pea pinned to the ground, each of them taking turns to hold him down and shovelling snow on top of him. "I'd rather stay mildly warm, I don't particularly want to end up like my poor boyfriend over there." I admit, clutching the latte in my hands closer to my chest. Cheryl laughs slightly at my words, evidently watching the group in front of us. When I look back at her, I see that she's looking at me. A look of curiosity in her eyes, as though she's trying to figure me out. Figure out why I'm sat on a bench rather than enjoying the winter with my friends. "No. I'm sick of you being miserable. You are going to get in the festive spirit whether you like it or not." She tells me, determination written across her face. "Cheryl, that's not going to happen." Though as soon as the words leave my mouth, I feel her plant a ball of snow on top of my head. Cold drips of water fall down my face and I shake my head in hopes of ridding myself of the snow. Cheryl has a smirk on her face as she stands up, eyebrows raised as though waiting for me. I place my cup on the floor, shaking my head as I begin to follow her. "Cheryl Blossom get back here right now!" I yell, chasing after her as she sprints over to our group of friends. Grabbing a handful of snow I throw it in the general direction of the redhead, praying that I will at least hit her even slightly. When I look however, I see that the snowball landed directly on Sweet Pea's chest. Unlike when Jughead or Fangs threw a snowball at him, he doesn't look angry, rather he looks insanely happy. A huge smile spread across his face as he races towards me. Pea sweeps me off my feet in a bone crushing hug, spinning my round in circles. Ultimately leaving us both dizzy, meaning we have to stand still for several minutes before we regain our composure. Resting his somewhat cold forehead against mine, he hugs me tighter. "You have no idea how happy I am right now." He whispers, making sure that none of the others can hear him. A small giggle leaves my mouth and I lean up slowly, kissing Sweet Pea as delicately as possible. Despite the immense cold around us, the kiss is warm and gentle. It's perfect. Or it is until a snowball hits me on the side of the head, interrupting our moment. "Oh now it's on!" December 17th. "You are going to love your Christmas present!" Sweet Pea tells me, distracting me from my calculus homework. What does he mean Christmas present? I made him promise that we wouldn't get each other Christmas presents. December 25th is just a regular day, there's nothing special about it. At least not to me. Not to sound selfish, but I don't want a gift off Pea. "We said we weren't going to do presents." I say, staring at him from across the table. His eyebrows furrow slightly, confused as to why I'm so against the idea of receiving a present. I guess to him, and every single other person on the planet, people love presents. Just not me. It's not the presents I have a problem with. It's the whole ideology of Christmas. "You weren't serious about that? It's Christmas, I had to get you a present." Although I try my hardest not to, I can't help but scoff. Looking away from the boy at the other side of the table. Why could he not just listen to me when I said no presents? It's a fairly simple request and yet he can't even follow through with that. "I don't like Christmas Pea. I fucking hate it. So no, I don't want a present." I snap, sounding a lot angrier than intended. When I finally look back at my boyfriend, he has a sadness in his eyes. I hurt him. Unintentionally of course. Though I still hurt him. Grabbing my books from the kitchen table, I begin to throw them into my backpack. I'm at the door of his trailer when he speaks again. "Why don't you like it? I mean, even I like it." His voice is quiet, hesitant. Worried I'll snap again. How do I even answer that question? It's a long story and not one I want to relive. Yet I want to be honest with him. Sweet Pea moves to sit on the couch, motioning for me to join him though I stay completely still. Stood in front of the door in case I need to bolt quickly. "My parents used to argue a lot. Like a lot. It always got worse on Christmas. When I was twelve, the argument on Christmas was worse than any before. It ended with my dad throwing a vase against the wall before walking out of the door. He never came back. We haven't celebrated Christmas since, now do you understand why I don't like Christmas?" I ask, looking over to him where he sits with his head in his hands. "I'm sorry." "It's just a lot of shitty memories. Christmas is no big deal to me because I've never really had a proper Christmas." When Sweet Pea stays silent I approach him slowly, taking a seat next to him on the couch. He glances up at me with an expression of guilt on his face causing me to wrap my arms around his torso in an awkward side hug. "You've done nothing wrong Pea, I promise. I'm sorry that I ruined your Christmas." I whisper, nuzzling my face into his neck. Pressing a kiss against his Serpent tattoo, I inhale his scent. Cigarettes and cinnamon. Such a perfect combination. He holds on to my arm as I lean into him further. The tension in his body slowly releasing. December 22nd. Sitting in a booth at Pop's, I slowly take a drink of my strawberry milkshake as I listen to Betty tells us about her romantic Christmas night with Jughead. It's cheesy and slightly gross but I still find myself listening intently. "What about you and Sweet Pea? How are you two spending your Christmas?" Ronnie asks, three pairs of eyes suddenly turning to me in unison. I didn't know me and Pea were supposed to spend the day together. Personally, I was just going to spend the day in bed. Possibly catching up on any coursework. The thought never crossed my mind that perhaps Sweet Pea wanted to spend the day with me. Sure, I may not like Christmas but that doesn't mean he doesn't. "We're not doing anything." I admit, stirring my milkshake with the straw so that I don't have to look at the three girls. "You and Pea aren't doing anything? You know how much that boy loves Christmas? There's no way you guys aren't spending the day together!" Toni chuckles, her words hitting me hard although she doesn't know it. Sweet Pea likes Christmas. A lot by the sounds of it. The award for shittiest girlfriend goes to Y/N Y/L/N. All of this time I've been so focused on myself and how much I hate Christmas that I never even thought to ask about what Sweet Pea wants. "Speaking of you and Sweet Pea, if he loves Christmas that much then maybe now is the perfect time to ya know.." Betty trails off, causing me to look at her, evidently confused. "Have sex Y/N. You and Sweet Pea could finally have sex." Veronica states, a little too loudly in my opinion as the people in the booth next to us look over in our direction. Could Pea and I have sex? The topic has never really been brought up in conversation but thinking about it now would be the perfect time. Not only to make up for being a bad girlfriend but also as a sort of Christmas gift. Maybe this Christmas won't be so bad. December 25th. Knocking on the door of the trailer, I hear Pea shuffling about before eventually opening the door. He's wearing an oversized hoodie with a pair of sweatpants and although the look in only meant for comfort, it makes him look extremely hot. "Merry Christmas!" He's shocked at the sight of me stood on his doorstep at little past eleven in the morning. At first I begin to doubt whether he actually wants me here, but then the biggest smile appears on his face and I know I've made the right choice to come over. "What are you doing? I thought you hated Christmas?" He asks, stepping aside to let me into his heavily decorated trailer. "Yeah, but you don't. So I brought chocolate cake, a bottle of whiskey and also your present." Placing the cake and alcohol on his kitchen table, I hand him the box that I was carrying under my arm. Pea throws himself on the couch placing the box on the coffee table. He looks like a child, eagerly pulling away the tissue paper from the inside. He holds up the leather jacket, mouth open in shock as he sees the newly embroidered serpent patch on the back. "Your old one has seen better days so I spoke to FP." I admit, smiling contently as he pulls the jacket on over the top of his hoodie. Before I can process what is happening, his arms are wrapped around me. Engulfing me in a hug, the fresh smell of leather hitting me the moment he is near. I settle into the embrace, allowing myself to feel relaxed. Happy. "Does this mean you'll accept my present?" He asks hopefully, gazing down at me with nothing but adoration in his eyes. Nodding my head, he kisses my temple before running off into his bedroom. Taking a seat at the kitchen table, I only wait for a minute before he comes bounding back in with a small black box. Handing it to me, he watches me carefully. Making sure he can clearly see my reaction. Inside the box is the most stunning silver snake ring that I have ever seen. I never knew I could smile as much as I am right now and everything suddenly feels perfect. Pea takes the ring out of the box and slips it on to my finger, smiling down at me when it's on. "I love you Sweet Pea." It's the first time those words have left my mouth but it feels like the right time to say them. My heart is swelling with love and I know that I really do mean what I say. Pea looks as though he is about to burst from happiness and hungrily captures my lips in a kiss. "I love you too sweetheart." Wrapping my arms around his neck, I kiss him with more aggression than ever before. Gripping his hair, I pull at it until he groans in my ear. Giggling at the sound, I see his cheeks turning a dark crimson. "Don't start something you can't finish Y/N." He whispers, trailing kisses down my neck. "Who says I can't finish it?" I've always hated Christmas. Yet with you, I don't hate it nearly as much as I thought I did.

Summaries under the cut
christmas (through your eyes) by @bugggghead After being faced with Christmas alone in the city, Betty hastily agrees to join Jughead in Riverdale with the Andrews. To complicate matters, they've met two times - and one of those, she was wearing elf ears.
viva americana by heavyliesthecrown She’d seen him last when they’d still been happy. She’d heard from him last, ten years ago, when they weren’t anymore. She didn’t hold it against him – the break in the chain of first love was inevitable. That’s just how the story goes.So she’d thought.Or, in the dead of night, she gets a call that her best friend is teetering on the edge of death. Maybe she should’ve expected it, maybe she should’ve been prepared for it – but she hadn’t been the only one to get that call.
today's another day (to find you) by Bugggghead Novelist Jughead Jones is struggling with his latest project. What happens when a certain blonde turns up on his doorstep in the middle of nowhere stranded just before an impending storm?Board games, flirting, baking, and power outages all add up to an interesting night that could change their lives.
Wicked by @writeradamanteve
Her name was Betty Cooper and she was Wicked. Not wicked: evil. Or even wicked: cool. When witches called other witches Wicked, it was said in hushed tones and wary glances. It was said with respect and often in fear. Wicked witches were hated and envied, sometimes coveted, sometimes revered. Not all witches were Wicked, but all Wicked were witches, and they were powerful. Covens wanted them, Slayers killed them. His name was Jughead Jones. And he was a Slayer.
Scars by @itsindiansummer13
When rising photographer Jughead Jones scores a photo shoot with model-of-the-moment Betty Cooper, he expects to use it, simply, to help his career take off. What he doesn't expect, is to be so enraptured with her beauty.Or for the single shoot to turn into a series of stunning portraits,Or to witness the marks on her palms grow into burns across her skin..What he doesn’t expect either, is to be her salvation.
modern love by @stillscape
Beneath the headline, beneath the cartoonish illustration of a girl with a ponytail and a boy with a beanie seated across from one another at a desk, he sees the words By Elizabeth Cooper. It is, he tells himself, a very common name. But what if…What if.Or: The one where Jughead finds out the past wasn't exactly what he thought... via the New York Times "Modern Love" column.
If There is Light by @smugheadjonesthethird
on their daughter's 18th birthday, Jughead reflects on his relationship with Betty and their journey of how they got to this day through a series of letters.
These Are the Moments I Remember by @itsmarscosta
At the age of 24, Jughead Jones had everything he ever wanted, his second book, had just reached the New York Times Best-Sellers list... And then, some strong migraines changed everything. Fast forward three years. Jughead is nothing but a shadow of the man he used to be until some flowers and an expired loan date bring the full of life, sunny and clumsy mix that is Betty Cooper into his life. She's everything he needs, and the one thing he doesn't believe he can have. Not when every time he sleeps, he forgets everything that happened during daytime. However, even if his mind doesn't work properly, his heart is set on not giving up on the best thing that has happened to him... since... that morning.(Loosely based on "Remember Sunday")
El Niño by @happilyshanghaied
When Betty's sister Polly runs off to join a cult and leaves her three-year-old son in Betty’s custody, she scrambles to find a nanny to watch him while she's at work. Betty’s best friend assures Betty she'll find her the perfect nanny. She’s not wrong.
try me on by @imreallyloveleee ( i'm just a shot away from you series)
Veronica shakes her head. “You are Betty Cooper and you are my best friend and you’re planning this entire dance practically singlehanded, and you’re going to look like a goddamn princess at it, okay?”“Okay,” Betty says meekly.“And Jughead will help you pick a dress,” Veronica adds decisively. “Okay?”Without really thinking about it, he says, “Okay.”

December Event
Reggie grinned as he saw you marching through the snow. The winter fete had almost been canceled due to the sheer amount of snow. Reggie could see you through the crowd with a hat that had a flashing light in it shaped like a christmas tree.
“It’s so cold and my shoes are already filled with snow.” You said as you reached Reggie.
“Well if it helps I got you a hot chocolate.” Reggie said as he handed you a warm drink. He led you over to some massive heating lamps. You stood under it together as you drank. Reggie stepped away for a moment to talk with Archie.
“Hey! Archie said that the santa they hired is headed home soon because we’re due for another lot of snow. Maybe we should go now. There’s only an hour.” Reggie said as he hurried back. You nodded and set your cup down on a nearby table. The two of you made it through the crowd and into the line. Looking at your phone you saw you’d made it with forty minutes left. A woman dressed as an elf came around and took money to get a gift. There was an argument up at the front of the line and when you looked behind you, you could see a few familiar faces looking curiously for the source of the disturbance.
“Let’s go and see what’s going on.” Reggie said. He hurried out of the line and up to the front. Betty hurried over to see if you were ok and asked what was going on as Archie, Jughead and Fangs or Sweet Pea, you weren't sure which, hurried past. You hurried with Betty to the front and saw a group of people arguing with a santa.
“You said that you would stay for another hour so either give us the gifts we paid for or give us our money back!” Man shouted.
“No! I’m getting out of here before the next snowfall comes.” Santa said.
“Then you’re just robbing the people that payed!” Jughead snapped. Santa started shouting and swearing.
“Reggie. He seems kind of drunk… he’s getting pretty agressive and there are kids right there!” You whispered to Reggie who looked at you and then the scared looking children at the front of the line.
“Listen here, Kringle. I may have gotten naughty this year, but by today's standards, naughty's nothing! I didn't get anybody pregnant, I didn't Facebook a kid to death.” Reggie snapped as he strode forwards and snatched at the sacks of presents. He tossed one to Archie who passed it down to the serpents that had followed Jughead up. Santa started to swear at Reggie and get in his face. He simply dogged him and grabbed the other bags. Soon the Serpents were in a line down the side of the queue apologising, giving out gifts and letting people know that there would be heavy snow soon.
“Thanks.” Archie said as the tension seemed to ease.
“Yeah. I should get back. I told (Y/N)’s parents I’d get them home and if we get stuck out in the snow…” Reggie trailed off.
“We’ve got this covered. See you next week at Pops.” Jughead assured you both. Reggie nodded and the two of you headed off. Toni hurried over to you and handed you your gifts and said that she’d see you at Pop’s too. You followed Reggie to his car. The snow was falling lightly as you got in his truck. Reggie let out a low whistle.
“Maybe they should have just rescheduled the fete.” Reggie muttered. People started hurrying to their cars and Reggie pulled out.
“You know when we get home I’ll ask if you can stay the night at mine. If you help my dad put the snow tires on his car, He’ll be able to get you home and keep your car in the drive until he can get it through the snow.” You offered. Reggie nodded as he slowed right down.
“Yeah I might have to do that.” He said reluctantly as he saw how heavy the snow was getting. The car slowly rolled down your street. The wheels span a few doors up from your house. You squinted and saw your parents hurrying out of the house. Reggie got out and spoke with your father and they both went behind the car.
“Hop out for a second.” Your mom said through the open door. You stepped out into the blistering cold and watched them try to roll the car up onto the drive. Fred Andrews drove past with Archie, Betty, Jughead and FP in the car.
“You guys need a hand?” Fred called.
“The wheels are spinning in the snow. We can’t get the car up into the garage.” You explained as you headed over to Fred’s window.
“We’ll hop out and give you a hand.” FP said from the back. You watched from the curb with Jughead as Betty and Archie helped hook Reggie’s car onto Reggie’s.
“We might scuff up the lawn.” Fred said.
“Well we can’t just leave Reggie’s car out in the road to get totaled in an accident. I can fix the lawn, I can’t fix these two.” Your dad said as he gestured to you and then Reggie. Fred muttered an agreement and with a careful manuvoir your dad’s car was moved out of the garage, Reggie’s car was pulled up into the garage and after a few minutes the snow tires were on. The phone started to ring and you hurried inside, beckoning Betty out of the cold.
“Hello? Oh Mrs Mantle. Reggie’s car got stuck in the snow. We would have called to say he got here… oh uhu. I can get my mom.” You said as you set the phone down and called for your mom who hurried in and tok the phone.
“Who would have thought snow could cause all this trouble.” Betty said to you.
“I know right.” You said with a laugh. The snow was now coming down so heavily that it was hard to see across the front yard to the drive. Everyone hurried inside as your mom finished on the phone.
“The Mantle’s are trapped in their home. The plow hasn’t come yet and it’s only going to get worse. Betty. You better call your mom.” She said as she handed Betty the phone.
“Were my parents ok?” Reggie asked.
“Oh yes dear. Just worried about you. You can stay as long as you need. There’s a weather warning going around so we could get really stuck for a day or two.” She explained quickly.
“Maybe the plow and gritters will be able to get through and it’ll only be until today?” You said hopefully.
“Hopefully. (Y/N) why don’t you take Reggie up to the spare room and… make up a bed for Betty in your room just in case… we should have enough space on the sofa and with the air beds to have everyone for tonight at least.” Your mom said as she hurried off to check what she could make everyone for dinner.
“We couldn’t impose.” Fred started to say.
“Nonsense. You got yourself stuck out here helping us. We can’t send you back out into that.” You heard your dad say as you headed upstairs with Reggie.
“Wow. What a night huh.” Reggie said.
“Yeah. Look how bad it is snowing.” You said. You and Reggie paused at the end of the landing and looked out of the window. Even in the dark you could see the sheer amount of snow coming down. “There’s no way we’ll be stuck for just a day or two.” You muttered. Reggie nodded in agreement and helped you empty the cupboard of spare pillows and blankets.
“I guess at least we get to spend time together. Plus your parents still like me. Your dad thanked me for trying so hard to get you home.” Reggie said with a light tone to his voice.
“Mr charming.” You said with a laugh. You helped Reggie settle in and he laid out some air beds for Archie and Jughead. They came up to help blow them up. You carried pillows and blankets downstairs and found a soggy looking Cheryl with Toni and Veronica. Betty was on the sofa with her mom.
“What happened?” You asked.
“Alice was outside trying to help us. We were on our way home and nearly perished in the weather.” Cheryl said.
“Yeah. She slipped trying to help us and dislocated her arm. We knew we couldn’t get her to the hospital and your mom is a nurse. It was the next best thing.” Toni finished.
“Wow, we have a totally full house. You can stay with me and Betty in my room.” You assured them.
“Thanks. We’re a little worried about Fangs. We haven’t seen him since he said he would meet us.” Toni muttered.
“Is Fangs the big one or the little one?” You asked.
“The short one.” Toni said.
“Oh then I saw Sweet Pea with santa. Neither of them are here, maybe they’re together?” You said hopefully. Everyone slowly settled down and your mom patched Alice up. Toni had packed all the food from the Cooper house and you helped carry it through and unpack.
“Hey FP?” Reggie called as he ran downstairs.
“Yeah, what’s up?” FP asked.
“We got a call from Urm Fangs? He said that someone was looting the stores. They tried to stop them but the store owner was injured and they needed help. They asked for you.”
“We can’t get a signal, I guess they’re down.” Jughead said as he and Archie ran down the stairs.
“If the phones are down, the power is next. I have a small backup generator but it’s in rough shape.” Your dad said.
“Ok. Here’s what we do.” Alice said loudly and sternly enough to stop everyone’s whispering. “We know the Mantle’s are stuck. Betty, (Y/N) start keeping a record of people we come across. This storm is going to be here for a while and the council cancelled any winter preparations. So we’ll have to clear the streets. If you don’t mind, we'll use here as a base of operations until we can expand. If that’s alright?” Alice said.
“That’s not a problem. I’m on hand for medical until we can clear the road to the hospital but I don’t have much in the way of supplies.” Your mom said.
“Ok. Fp, Fred. You go out with Jughead, Archie and Reggie. Get the people and see if you can get supplies. Betty, (Y/N) inventory everything we have. Cheryl and Toni try to set up as many beds as you can.” She turned to your father. “Do you think you can get torches, heating, electric things like that sorted?”
“Absolutely. You know what if I can take Reggie and Archie we could get some moved down from our storage unit. It’s only up the road.” Your father said. The boys agreed and everyone set off with a plan. You hugged your mom as she said she’d go with FP and Fred. You headed off to the dining room to help Betty set up a rescue center since it was clear that Riverdale was yet again in trouble.
“Hey! Before I go… I was going to get you dinner at the fete after we get our gifts and then under the mistletoe we would… you know kiss.`` Reggie said awkwardly. You smiled and leant up to kiss him. He smiled as he pulled away.
“Stay safe and… look after my dad?” You said. He nodded firmly and hurried off.
“Luckily I got Jughead a new radio for Christmas. We can use this to see if anyone else is trying to get help.” Betty said as she hurried into the room.
“I hope everyone's ok. The first snow storm was bad enough.” You muttered. Betty nodded and sighed as she glanced into the other room.
“Nothing like a disaster to make Riverdale come together.” Betty said with a nervous smile.

Ok, here's a prompt: bughead + their friends trying to trap the two of them under the mistletoe
I loved that this entire thing played out in my head in 2.6 seconds after reading this. Send me a prompt!
——–
“And where do you think you’re going?”
Archie was yanked back almost off his feet when Veronica grabbed the back of his shirt.
“The sna-”
She tutted and shook her head. “If you ruin this for me Andrews -”
With a gasp, Veronica pointed towards the archway where she’d hung an obnoxiously large bunch of mistletoe. Archie watched as Jughead walked towards it from the right, nodding at the occasional person while he grazed off the snack table. From the opposite end of the room, Betty and Ethel chatted as they made their way towards the kitchen. Before their paths met, Jughead was pulled into conversation with Dilton while Betty and Ethel continued on towards the kitchen.
Veronica huffed and stomped her foot. Frustration radiated off her and Archie saw yet another long drawn-out strategy session in his future, only this time instead of mistletoe it would involve champagne, countdowns, and midnight kissing.
For close to six months Veronica had been plotting for a relationship to happen between their respective best friends. Archie wanted the best for Betty, he always had. And Veronica wanted the same for her friend nee high school frenemy Jughead. But like two stubborn, obtuse ships in the night, the pair had terrible timing.
“Wouldn’t it just be easier to ask if they wanted to double?”
Veronica rolled her eyes. “This has to happen organically. If Jughead knew I was trying to interfere in his lack of a love-life he’d refuse to speak to me until I swore on my abuelita’s Bible and my first edition of Bradley’s 1896 Harper’s Bazaar.”
“But it would be easier -”
“It’s about the romance, Archibald. The once in a lifetime chance -”
“Of your underpants in France,” Reggie finished as he stopped next to them. He handed Archie a plastic cup overfilled with beer.
“I’m surrounded by infants,” Veronica said with a curled lip. She shot Reggie a withering look and went after Betty.
“What’s her deal?”
“Romance,” Archie said, though the word was a question that lingered in the air long enough to turn stale.
“That’s why she brought in the giant bouquet of hookup material,” Reggie said with a smirk. He tilted his head up at Josie across the room only to receive a peal of laughter in response. “She digs me.”
Archie shrugged and took a careful sip of the drink. Pabst. He fought back a grimace and set the cup down on the table behind him. It was worth getting yelled at for rings on the wood if it meant he didn’t have to drink that.
“So, who’s she trying to set up this time?” Reggie asked none the wiser.
“Bet- some of our mutual friends.” Archie caught himself in time. The last thing he needed was a primer from Betty and Veronica’s mutual ex about how to chase after either one of them.
“Bet you five bucks and a shot of Tabasco she’ll have a toll booth set up around that mistletoe before the end of the night.
Archie shook his head. “No bet. She’s already staking out potential quarantine areas. Twenty and a shot of chocolate syrup and vinegar she’ll come up with an elaborate reason to take a photo under the mistletoe.”
“Nah, too amateur hour,” Reggie scoffed.
“It’s always amateur hour where you two are,” Moose said as he joined them.
He and Reggie fist-bumped a greeting. Sensing a golden opportunity, Archie picked up his abandoned beer and handed it to Moose who gladly downed it in one go.
“What’s going on this time?” Moose asked as he wiped his lip.
“Veronica’s playing matchmaker,” Archie and Reggie said in unison.
Moose turned a shade of green even the Grinch would be jealous of. Archie squeezed his shoulder in sympathy. Veronica’s attempts to set up her friends were practically legendary. The rumors, as yet still unconfirmed, about what happened the last time Veronica subjected Moose to her romantic machinations were enough to make everyone think thrice about accepting any invitation to a Lodge social gathering.
“I think I need something stronger,” Moose muttered. He shoved his plate of half finished food into Reggie’s hand and rushed to find something stronger that might erase that night before last Christmas from his mind.
“Do I want to know why Moose looks like the wrong end of an elf?” Kevin asked as he sidled up to them.
He handed them both a small piece of paper and a golf pencil. In his other hand he held a tin can wrapped in candy cane paper.
“Christmas movie, sex position, and favorite celebrity for dirty mad-libs. Why is Veronica glaring at Midge harder than Margaret Thatcher serving turkey dinner at a homeless shelter?”
“Matchmaking,” Reggie said as he scribbled something down on a piece of paper. “My money’s on her holding us hostage until they kiss. Thirty dollars and…. an egg, cilantro, and maple shot.”
Kevin gagged and shoved the paper into his tin can. “No bet. She’s been blocking out this friend-fiction scene for weeks now. I’m surprised she didn’t lock them in a closet with a neon sign that says ‘Now Kiss’.”
Archie handed over his own paper. “Friend fiction?”
“Dude,” Reggie sighed. “You really need to catch up on Kevin’s blog. Wait, is Midge single again?”
They watched as Reggie waded out into the crowd ever hopeful.
“He really can’t stand being alone for a single night, huh?” Kevin asked as if Reggie’s philandering ways were a blight upon his very soul. “Why can’t Veronica just -”
“Romance,” Archie said in an attempt to mimic Veronica’s dramatics. “Organic, once-in-a-life-time -”
“Bibbity Bobbity Boo, what’s that witch of yours now up to?”
“Cheryl,” Kevin said by way of greeting. The smile on his face was tight enough to stretch tinsel. “Don’t you have presents to steal?”
“Charming.” When he didn’t move Cheryl’s smile dropped into a sneer. “This is a two way conversation, so see your way out of it.”
“That’s not even the right -” Kevin shook his head and muttered, “whatever,” as he turned to a different partygoer with papers in hand.
Archie eyed Cheryl warily; the last time she wanted to have a chat he’d ended up at a charity auction event that required very little clothes and Mantle levels of self-esteem.
“Don’t worry, Archiekins,” Cheryl said with a smile. She pressed a finger into the middle of his forehead. “You’ll get frown lines like that.”
“What do you want Cheryl?”
“Jughead and Toni are friends, right?”
Archie nodded.
“Has he mentioned anything about her?” Cheryl asked, her smile becoming as forced as Santa coming down the chimney. “I mean, about what she might want for Christmas? We haven’t even been dating a year, so diamonds are obviously too much, and probably a trip to the Cacos, that’s more of a year-anniversary trip, but -”
Archie knew from personal experience that it was best to jump in quickly in these types of conversations. He’d had a similar conversation with Veronica last year over a ‘normal’ person’s gift budget. She’d been so stuck on what Betty might want for Christmas Veronica had almost missed that it wasn’t the present that mattered so much as the thought behind it. Still, Betty had been over the moon about the new wrench set even Archie had gotten a thank you note from her.
“She likes photography?” he offered. “Is there a gallery opening you could take her to, then dinner? Sometimes just being together is more important than anything you could buy her.”
Cheryl frowned. “Oh you poor naive thing. What has Veronica been teaching you? But, I will admit, photography is a good idea. Your girlfriend chasing people out of the kitchen, not so much.”
Archie turned and found that Veronica had, indeed, cleared out the kitchen of everyone but Betty and Ethel who watched her with curiosity. Veronica then proceeded to drag Jughead towards the kitchen all the while waving for Betty to join them. In the confusion, Ethel met Jughead under the mistletoe.
Obligingly she pecked him on the check to Veronica’s increasing consternation.
“I’ll be back,” Archie said before rushing over to keep his girlfriend from causing a scene large enough to get her back onto Santa’s naughty list.
Much, much later that night, at a time when all the good little children were dreaming of sugarplums and sending fruitcakes to all their teachers, Jughead and Betty were putting lost solo cups and abandoned utensils in a large trash bag. Veronica insisted they weren’t obligated to help, but Betty had volunteered and Jughead followed suit. Now the living room was almost back to normal, if one ignored the candy canes stuck to the ceiling.
“Did you notice Veronica being weird tonight?” Jughead asked as he up a precarious tower of trash.
“You mean how she was desperately trying to trap you under the mistletoe?” Betty said with a note of amusement in her voice despite the dark stain of cherry syrup that stained the cuff of her sweater.
Jughead looked up at the archway, understanding dawning on his face as if it were the first time he’d seen it that night. “Huh. Guess that’s why the kitchen was on lockdown. I thought it was Archie’s tuna salad.”
“For someone so observant, you can be rather oblivious” Betty laughed and set another stack of cups in the trash.
He grinned, a sly quirk of his mouth that drew her attention. “Too bad she wasted so much time. I am spoken for after all.”
Betty bit her lower lip and met him under the archway, her hips leading the way. She slipped her arms around his neck and pulled him closer. “It would be bad luck to break tradition.”
“Very bad luck.” He slipped his hands around her waist and tucked them into the back pockets of her jeans. “Might carry over into the next year. And I had such high hopes for where this was going.”
Jughead leaned down to press a kiss to Betty’s collarbone. His nose brushed along her neck and she drew in a sharp breath.
“Elizabeth Ann Cooper!” came a scandalized voice. “I hope you have a good explanation for this.”
They broke apart only to find Veronica staring at them, mouth agape. Behind her Archie raised his own trash bag in a congratulatory salute.
“It’s a Christmas miracle?” Betty said with a half smile and a shrug.
“And there’s the bad luck,” Jughead muttered.
Veronica, however, wasn’t having it. She stormed over and dragged Betty along behind her to the kitchen.
“So,” Archie said. “Halloween party?”
“Yeah.”
“Cool.”
Jughead gave him a sidelong glance. “That’s it? No ‘How did it happen’? No ‘Is it serious’? Nothing?”
Archie shrugged. “This is all Veronica’s going to talk about until next Christmas. And she refuses to leave any detail out. Dining room next?”
“Sure.”
Jughead followed him to the dining room. On the way, Veronica yelled out, “You’re next Jones!”
Normally the threat would have sent shivers down his spine, but Betty’s amused glance that held the promise of later made it all worth it.

“When you said, ‘We should decorate for Christmas,’ I didn’t quite equate that with our apartment becoming the physical embodiment of Santa’s Workshop. The North Pole has nothing on us, Betts.”
Jughead wasn’t sure what he was looking at. Well he was, but he wasn’t sure how it had happened. When he’d left for class & his shift at the library six hours ago, their apartment had looked like the standard one of the perpetually busy & stressed college students they were.
What he was currently standing in was a rustic holiday catalog come to life–complete with Christmas lights placed everywhere in sight, including their bedroom & bathroom—with Betty standing in the middle of it all, popcorn strand in hand.
“If I didn’t know any better, this would be the part in the Christmas movie where the main character reveals they’re an elf to the love interest, because it’s the only way to explain how you had time to do all of this.”
“I want us to have our own holiday traditions, Jug. The kind we get to actually enjoy for once. Between my mother having a meticulous blueprint for where every single item in the house has to go & your family-“
“-having a blueprint for disaster.”
“Neither of us have the best track record at this time of year, but now, we can make it our own. Whatever that looks like. Maybe I went a little overboard in my excitement, but turns out being happy does that to a person.”
“No. It’s perfect. For us. Now, put me to work, Cooper. This is an equal opportunity decorating household, & I haven’t done my fair share. Besides, if you think about it, this really is my season. All the flannel, plaid, & treats to eat? Totally my aesthetic.”
