library pick up fitps verse
Tuesdays are usually the longest day in the shop, the day when Hasan's manager things: fuck it! let’s take all the walk ins! engine problems? no problem!-
so usually, he’s the last person picking a kid up, sneaking in with apologizes and IOUs written on napkins he slides over to you (iou: one (1) donut. iou: one (1) five minute massage or iou: one dinner)
in fact, it’s so common, he has them stashed in glove box and ready to go.
today though, he doesn’t have to reach for one.
he cuts the engine as he pulls up next to the building, surprised at home empty it is this early. he takes a second; pulls down the visor down and tries to fix his hair through the broken mirror
it’s to little effect. clearly, he’s been wearing a cap all day, covered in sweat and grease, and even though he sprayed cologne on his way out and changed into an old shirt, he’s pretty he can still smell grease and stale coffee radiating off of him.
he hits the visor up and gets out of the car, shoves the keys deep in his pocket and makes his way to the door before he can second guess himself.
the bell rings overhead when he enters, and he sheepishly walks towards the desk where you usually sit, only to find a co worker, martha, her glasses on the tip of her nose as she taps on the computer, says Amelie is downstairs.
he tries to swallow any sadness of you not being there, makes a mental note to text you later to make sure you’re okay-
he rounds the corner after taking the steps-
and hears your voice.
“Good, Aimes.” you’re voice is light, “very good! wow.”
he peaks.
she sits in one of those comically large bean bags, you’re pulled up next to her, holding one end of the book as she holds the other, a large smile on her face as she reads to you.
it’s obvious from the loaded cart of books behind you that you were pulled away from reshelving the never ending list of books that get returned-
he thinks of coming in, apologizing, for taking up your time while you work, but you’re smiling so big as Amelie reads gently-
“You’re doing so good,” you say gently, squeezing Amelie’s shoulder, “i’m so proud of you.”
she blushes pink but easier into her side a little more, and he can see the tension leave your shoulders as you ease into her-
“Let’s see,” you say, “where were we-“
Hasan, against his better judgment, clears his throat, and Amelie’s head shoots up, his cover blown.
“Hasan!” she giggles, the book abandoned as she runs to him.
he tries to kneel in time but to no luck, she runs full speed into his legs, setting him back a few steps with a “woah”
he leans down and tickles her side, a messy kiss to the crown of her head as he kneels on the ground and she talks a million miles an hour on her day-
finally, a break, and Hasan gets her to grab her book and thank you, before running upstairs to Martha.
he comes over sheepishly to you, rubbing his arm: “i hope she wasn’t bothering ya-she really loves you. never shuts up about you”
‘she’d say i do the same’ hangs in the air, but he swallows it.
instead, words fail you, and you adjust your glasses, “your early,” revealing you know his schedule, “very early.”
“Yeah uh-“ he shrugs, “Finished early, so figured i’d come get her.”
you nod, “She’s never a bother, she’s come far with her reading already. She loves reading now-“
“thanks to you.” hasan says quietly, quickly, his face pink.
you shake your head, “It’s you, hasan. You have to give yourself some credit.”
he snorts in response, not saying anything, a silence hangs for s second.
“listen uh-“ you step forward, “i’ll be done in about fifteen minutes. if you don’t mind waiting around-“
you pull the iou you keep tucked in your back pocket, always too afraid to redeem it, for a home cooked meal, sounds amazing right now, have been eating out of the microwave the past week-
he snorts as he takes it, rubs his fingers over it before taking it and tucking it into his shirt, “Yeah uh-“ he shakes his head, a smirk on his face, “i owe you.”
“Good,” you smile, “i’ll be up in a second.”
he nods, his face red, “we’ll be waiting.”
and he goes to take the stairs, trying to remain cool, knows your eyes are on him, as he promptly trips going up the stairs, a gentle: “i’m okay.” before you head his feet pick up, walking up the stairs slowly now.
you finish shelving the few books with a smile on your face, looking forward to the date

hi please talk about jaime more i am equal parts afraid and excited for his new show
Jaime stan since 2009 reporting for duty sir.
Jaime is the best Spider-Man story we've had in a very long time. I'm including Spider-Man in this. In 2006 it was pretty abnormal to have such a simple story: about a normal kid, who is a very good kid and just wants to do his best, accidentally getting in way over his head and deciding to make the best of a bad situation by helping people and trying to keep his head above water. Jaime's life dream is to become a dentist. His family is highly engaged in his superhero life. Jaime was wholesome without feeling wholesome, and a really exceptional guy while still feeling like an average teen.
Jaime actually did Into The Spider-Verse before ITSV did ITSV: it told a Spider-Man story about a kid struggling to live up to a legacy. About living up to a dead legend, trying to puzzle out his life and make him proud, and how to engage with his life and message. Except I think it did something even more interesting than what ITSV did with Miles.
Because the legacy was that of a loser.
Ted Kord's a joke. Out of universe, he was placed in joke comic after joke comic (Justice League International was exceptional and prided itself on being 100% loser). In universe, nobody took him seriously. How can you take a member of the JLI seriously? The superhero community knew Ted was competent, but they didn't really admire him and they didn't actually like him. He was another annoying supergenius without any superpowers. He never even got the scarab to work. What was Ted Kord's legacy, what legacy was Jaime trying to live up to?
Well, people loved Ted. That's all.
Ted had somebody who, if JLI had been written in 2023 instead of 1980, would have been his husband. He had his husband's family. He had the Justice League International, a misfit team of losers who were losers together. He was insanely smart and very kind and super weird. He had absolutely zero reason to be a hero whatsoever, but he was a bit of an adrenaline junkie and was too weird to live and too rare to die.
What kind of legacy is that? How do you live up to that? Jaime is the kind of superhero who would rather live up to the legacy of a kind man who is loved than a famous man who is revered. The people who loved Ted feature prominently in Jaime's own comic, and the JLI revival where they met Jaime was super emotional. And the Booster Gold comic where he met Jaime made me cry. Jaime's scarab is built to be an ultra death kill murder machine, and Jaime's job is to make it kind. Jaime wanted to leave a legacy of kindness too, and that was how he discovered what kind of Blue Beetle he wanted to be. He never once gave a shit about the rest of it. His life dream is to be a dentist.
Jaime's story has a lot of lasting appeal, because I think he's the kind of hero who fits in with the sensibilities of people today: just a swell lad. But I'm also a Ted Kord fan, and I always really loved the respect and reverence that Jaime always gave Ted: not as somebody who only knew him theoretically or knew the idea of him, but as somebody who was so loved, that he people who loved him showed up at Jaime's door to help him too.
Anyway Jaime's story is SO BASIC that the movie's good/bad is going to hinge entirely 100% of execution so it's impossible to tell right now, I'm holding out judgment. I'm guessing banal and forgettable. Hopefully charming, like Shazam. I am a massive fucking Shazam stan he is the funniest character on God's green earth.
#blue beetle#jaime reyes#ted kord#ppl dont write a good shazam#they dont understand that shazam is what the average 10 year old thinks#would be the coolest possible situation for a 10yo to be in#that in reality would be weirdly awful#but shazam isn't about reality. shazam is about sunshine sparkle.#my asks#my writing

I’m a newer player and i’ve been looking through Osiris’ lore more. I remember reading something somewhere saying he’s had visions. can Guardians get visions from the Light, or was that tied to when he was “possessed” by Savathûn?
It wasn't tied to Savathun!
Osiris had "visions" way before that. He claimed that he got them in the Infinite Forest, which is a Vex prediction/simulation engine built inside of Mercury. He received many visions which later got classified as prophecies even though Osiris insisted that they were scientific research he constructed by using the Vex prediction engine. Because they got classified as prophecies, he got a whole cult following fixated around them which led to his exile because the prophecies were causing chaos in the City.
The problem with Osiris' claim about the visions being from the Infinite Forest is that Osiris only entered the Infinite Forest after he was exiled. And he was exiled for the prophecies. So he already wrote his prophecies down before ever entering the Forest.
Furthermore, the Infinite Forest is a Vex prediction engine and the Vex cannot simulate paracausality, aka the Light. Which means that Osiris could not have received the the prophecies involving the Light from the Forest either. This is explicitly also mentioned as a problem here:
There's just one thing: if Osiris used the Infinite Forest to develop his prophecies, and the Infinite Forest cannot accurately simulate Light, how did Osiris predict the Traveler would wake? The Forest's very inability to predict this very thing is what prevented Panoptes from breaking ground with its apocalyptic calculations. I must assume: 1) Either verse 5 does not refer to the Traveler's awakening, or 2) Osiris has prophetic resources at his disposal other than the Forest. What they are I have no idea.
We essentially don't know how he got the visions. To make things more complicated, there's the comic of which the third part is in a physical edition only so you'll have to check out these scans. Sagira asks him this very same question: how did he make the first batch of prophecies? Osiris dodges the question like a pro, then appears to fall into a trance and starts reciting yet another prophecy on the spot, seemingly without being aware of what he's doing while Sagira is trying to get his attention. The prophecy he makes here is just a prediction of what will happen in Warmind and Forsaken. For the record, this one does take place while he's in the Forest, but the way it happens is just super bizarre and Sagira is also very confused by it as well.
Osiris is 100% unique in this way. No other Guardian has ever really experienced anything similar. Even when the Young Wolf received visions from the Traveler in the Red War, it wasn't really a prophecy or anything like that, it was just one vision to tell us where to go. Osiris received hundreds of these, from an unknown source. There's a possibility that they might be from the Light or the Traveler as well and that Osiris just isn't fully aware of that.
We have some of the prophecies in the game: Garden Progeny 1 (very peculiar, seems to be referring to what we previously believed was proof of the Unveiling story, now possibly referring to the idea presented by both Ahsa and Chioma Esi in Veil Logs that the Traveler and the Veil used to be one entity), The Conqueror 2 (start of the Red War), Jack King Queen 3 (the Vanguard leaders fight the war, YW standing out), Machina Dei 4 (Light returns), Traveler's Judgment 5 (Traveler awakens and defeats Ghaul), Sol Pariah 6 (unknown), West of Sunfall 7 (unknown), Infinite Paths 8 (unknown, most likely something about the Vex), Null Calamity 9 (unknown), Future Safe 10 (unknown), Perfect Paradox (Saint's return). Trying to interpret these is incredibly tough as we simply don't know if the plot points they're predicting are still envisioned the same as they were when these were written over 5-6 years ago. Only madness lies from here going forward.
But yeah, a lot of text for me to say that we have no clue. We do know that they're not in any way related to what happened with Savathun though, as Osiris' prophecies predate that by decades or even centuries.

Forty-seven years ago today, everything changed. True believers might already know what it was: On May 25, 1977, Star Wars hit movie theaters and irrevocably altered nearly everything pertaining to the act of moviegoing. Lines around the block, overly excited nerds, an appetite for action figures. Star Wars taught Hollywood that certain genres—sci-fi, fantasy, anything that percolated in the offbeat TV shows, books, and comics of the 1950s and ’60s—had fans, and those fandoms would show up. Star Wars made a meager $1.6 million in the US in its opening weekend. But people kept coming back, and by the end of its initial run it had made more than $300 million. Hollywood’s Next Big Thing had arrived.
Common wisdom dictates that Jaws, which came out in 1975 and made some $260 million, was the first summer blockbuster. That’s true, but it was Star Wars that shifted the idea of what kind of film future popcorn flicks tried to be. In the years after its release, a trove of sci-fi and genre films landed in theaters: Blade Runner, Alien, E.T., the Mad Max sequel The Road Warrior. By the ’90s, the summer movie energy had shifted to action fare—Twister, Speed, Jurassic Park, Independence Day—but nerd stuff still ruled. For every Forrest Gump there was a Batman Returns or Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
Then came a little juggernaut called Marvel. By the time Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man movies started clearing nine-figure opening weekends in the aughts, it was obvious that comic book heroes’ true superpowers involved making your money disappear. The Avengers opened in early May 2012 and nearly recouped its $200-million-plus production budget in three days. Suddenly, there were at least two superhero movies every year, if not every summer, and some new Star Wars flicks at the holidays.
The one-two punch of Covid-19 theater closures and streaming pretty much kneecapped this entire process. The summer of 2020 had virtually no blockbusters, and by the time moviegoers returned to multiplexes in 2021 and 2022, there had been a vibe shift. Movies like Black Widow and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness did well, but they weren’t events. Rushing to Fandango for tickets didn’t feel as urgent as it once did. Last summer, Barbenheimer was the buzziest thing in movies. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 made money, but they still got beat by Barbie’s might.
Overall, this year could be a wake-up call for studios that superhero fatigue has fully set in, says Chris Nashawaty, author of The Future Was Now, a new book out in July about how the movies of 1982—Blade Runner, E.T., Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, among others—ushered in the current blockbuster era. That epoch, he says, “was always going to be something that couldn’t last forever; I’m frankly surprised that it lasted as long as it did.”
Nashawaty says the success of Barbenheimer—both movies—indicates that audiences are hungry for smart films, but Hollywood’s risk aversion likely means studios will greenlight more projects based on toys and games like Monopoly rather than movies about physicists. “This is a real existential moment in Hollywood right now,” he adds, and studios need to be bold to stay relevant.
Summer 2024, which unofficially begins this weekend, promises a move away from the formula that has been in play for decades. There are only a handful of big popcorn-ready movies coming, and they’re decidedly less family-friendly than the blockbusters of yore. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, which dropped on Friday, is a teeth-chatteringly gritty prequel about a kidnapped woman (Anya Taylor-Joy playing the younger version of Charlize Theron’s character from Mad Max: Fury Road) who ends up in a war between two overlords and has to fight her way out. Deadpool & Wolverine is a Marvel movie, yes, but it’s apparently a paean to pegging and cocaine so hard-R that Ryan Reynolds won’t shut up about it.
The series of weird indies coming in the next few months—the thriller Cuckoo, Ti West’s latest horror flick MaXXXine, a new collab from Poor Things pals Emma Stone and Yorgos Lanthimos called Kinds of Kindness—finally have some room to get into the summer movie conversation.
Make no mistake: I am typing these things with glee and admiration. Glossy family movies have their place, but they’ve grown awfully predictable. Safe—not necessarily in their plots, but in their substance. No matter how fun last year’s barn-burner The Super Mario Bros. Movie was, you can’t say anything about it was surprising, much less new. No one walked into the theater for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and walked out as gobsmacked as they were when they saw Star Wars, or even Speed.
This is not a “Hollywood is so homogenized” argument. Rather, it’s a reminder that Tinseltown wasn’t always this way. Its influence used to introduce people to the future. What’s happening now has the potential to mark a return to the kind of startlingly original movies that used to be hits. Between the pandemic, streaming, and the Hollywood strikes of last summer, a lot of old habits got broken, and there’s a sense that a renaissance is afoot.
This revitalization won’t come easy, if it comes at all. Summer 2024 still has its share of redos and sequels—a new Inside Out movie, reboots of ’90s summer staples The Crow and Twister. (The latter is the aptly-named Twisters; there are more tornadoes this time, apparently.) But even those movies at least feel like they’re grasping for the prefranchise days, even if they’re birthing franchises in the process.
Furiosa is currently projected to bring in more than $40 million at the US box office this weekend, a figure that would bring it close to Fury Road’s tally but may not convince Hollywood execs that it should bankroll more R-rated, original shockbusters. It would, presumably, best The Garfield Movie, which is also out this weekend and has the makings of a more surefire hit: well-known IP, animated, PG-rated. (For the record, though: Critics seem to think it sucks.) Early ticket sales for Deadpool & Wolverine are already breaking records for an R-rated movie. Should it dominate the conversation for a couple weeks while also raking in money, that embrace of a very not-Disney Disney movie—coupled with Furiosa and Hot Barbenheimer Summer—could signal a tipping point.
Look, nothing will ever completely derail Hollywood’s reliance on sure things. Video game adaptations remain poised to take the crown long held by superhero flicks. (Borderlands, starring Cate Blanchett, is coming to theaters this August.) But if this summer’s ever-sprawling slate turns up just enough weird hits, maybe we’ll once again know the feeling of walking out of Star Wars for the first time.

the remaining members of vi’s group, galxsee, in the grand theft auto 5 verse or whatever idol / popstar verse he has… they might pop up every now and then since they’re reuniting, so a little blurb on them all.
jihoon kim / leader. horribly irresponsible with a bad coke habit. but he’s pretty nice and he tips very well at restaurants. if you want a bestie for life, he’s your guy! but you cannot trust him with your car, he will lose it in a bet. a father of two, much to our dismay. didn’t wife up his baby mamas, either. but he’s there for his kids and tries his best.
namsung yu / look at that smile!!! him and virote are the ‘ our dental work is so beautiful and expensive ’ club. angel. very well meaning, if not naive at times. enjoys reading comic books. :) we love namsung in this house. :) he’s also very good at composing! music theory is his strongest asset. he loves classical music puns… don’t ask him about debussy.
sangjin jung / very rude. very judgmental. he’ll cut you off in traffic without using a blinker. he thinks you’re a dumb fucking idiot, but he sings very well and i can forgive him for being an asshole because he can outsing everyone in the room. vi had to share a room with him and thought he would get stabbed in his sleep—they get along, tho. sangjin would duel with patrick bateman and win.
hansik cha / muscleheaded jock with a lot of tatts but he’s kind of an introvert and spends most of his time being chronically online with social media. streams a lot from his home gym. also play uno online with him plz. he’s from the uk… and no one will let him forget it, either. gets nicknamed ‘ tea bag ’ in a double entendre kind of way and it’s torture. allergic to cheese. gets triple cheese on his subway sandwiches anyway.
yongyi wen / from china. he’s perpetually confused… and kind of tepid in personality. probably because he has so much anxiety that it’s frozen his entire brain. however, this mf can play a guitar and make you cry in the process. he never has much to say… so please don’t talk to him. he’s shy and does not want to talk outside of his professional work. hansik and him communicate by telepathy because they are both shut-ins or something. they stare at each other and blink and they just get it.
junichiro soseki / he’s actually the third oldest of everyone with that baby ass face of his, he’s older than vi by a few years. from japan, but studied in canada for a couple of years or so. hated it, 0 / 10 would never go back. went to college for food science, he be cookin’. he’s as cute as his face displays… a lovely lad. but a little impatient when people aren’t as quick with learning as he is. also impatient with people who are bad at communicating… … so you know what that means for the two above.
#*・༓☾ about! a shimmer in the night.#/ pov. you're sitting between hansik and yongyi.#/ you die from clashing energy.#/ theyre based of exo. when i say 'remaining'... if you know. you know. lol.#/ exodusgate......

sin! what did you think of the new spider-verse movie? :D
I liked it a lot!
So far I'd say I liked the first one better; I thought this one was maybe a little on the long side and could have run a bit shorter, but I also don't think I can make a definitive judgment about which is better because we haven't seen how the cliffhanger is going to resolve yet and it seems unfair to compare them when the second one only has half a plot arc finished.
I am not really a person who likes the Spider-People side of Marvel at all, mostly because I hate spiders and I hate looking at spiders or pictures of spiders and a whole lot of the Spider-People put big ol' spiders on their costumes and also we tend to get a lot of origin-story pictures of spiders so that's kind of a big personal nope for me. I make an exception for Jess Drew -- who is in this Spider-Verse movie, hooray -- because her costume is not very spidery and also even though her origin story does involve genetic material from spiders, Marvel doesn't make me look at pictures of spiders mostly. I would also like to read more Black Widow comics at some point but I am not sure how much spider is in there -- I know she's not actually a Spider-Person -- or if it's more of a metaphor.
I mention this mostly so you will understand the extreme barrier to me liking Spider-Anything, but I think the Spider-Verse films are great and I really like Miles and I think they've captured how cool multiverse comics plots are in a way that the main MCU so far seems unable to do, in my opinion. Like, I have watched a whole lot of superhero movies and I understand that they all have varying goals with respect to what kind of adaptations they want to be and how close they are to canon -- but so far the Spider-Verse movies are the only movies that, for me, have captured the exact feeling of reading one of those massive summer event crossovers with dozens of tie-ins and a giant escalating plot. Not so much in the exact canon faithfulness or anything, but just the way it feels. I walk out of the movie theater thinking that this movie understands why it is fun to read comics and I like that about it.
Also, I really like Spider-Rex. His name is Pter Ptarker. I'm still not over this.

What are rare-pairs that you’re passionate about?
Who was your first OC?
Are you happy with how your favorite canon muse was portrayed in canon?
How do you describe writing / rp to others?
Questions for the mun!
Rare-pairs... oh my god I have so many of those that I'm drawing a blank right now. I think the one that comes to mind is strangely Da.igo Doji.ma and Goro Maji.ma from the Yakuza games lmao, maybe even Ichiban and Zhao from the same games, idk I just vibe with them. But Daiji.ma was my shit for the longest time. And also probably Kuroiwa and Yagami from the Yakuza spin-off, Judgment. OH! And also Soma and the professor dude or like... his subordinate Akutsu (but I guess that last one wasn't a rarepair) from the sequel of the spin-off. Does Maevelight count as rarepair? Cause they'd be my top rarepair as of now (and maybe Zack and Cloud if they count as rarepair) I'm wondering if I'll like Home.lander and Fire.cracker but that probably won't be a rarepair lmao.
My first OC, I am unsure if I can pinpoint... I think it was this servant girl called Lilian I made for a canon character, when I used to try and run from my male/male ships to be "normal" lmfao! My first OC here though was my AI, AIROS. My sweet bean, my lovely android who is trying to learn about the world without knowing he is a spyware watching over the people. I had a lot of verses for him... maybe I could add one for the boys, but he'd be too much of a good boy to be able to survive in that world... Though it'd be a good chance to give him a real-life FC I guess.
I have so many favorite canons that change with what I'm currently obsessed with. Like, before the boys it was Adler and I immediately 'hated' him as a mechanism of defense because I actually loved him a lot lmfao, his characterization was top notch in-game, so much that everyone really wants him to appear in the sequel despite the wrongdoings he did to the protagonist. Anyway, since right now I am obsessed with the boys and clearly But.cher is my favorite – it's safe to say I'm pretty satisfied with most of his portrayal in canon, as of Season 3. There is a leak that has me just a little doubtful about what they're trying to do with him going forward, but I'm hoping it's explained in a way I can get behind, they've done well, so far. Otherwise, I feel like they did a very nice, deeply flawed character that I adore. It hits all the spots I love in a character and, honestly, I feel it was tailor-made for me to love, at least the show rendition of him. I don't like the comics one at all. Aside from that, I think Raiden from Met.al Gear has been practically my sleeping agent all-time favorite or so, and I absolutely love what they did with his character (not me vibing with a "mood swings" type of character trying to do good, but also being unhinged). I miss him and his struggles a whole lot, wish they would've continued his games.
I describe rp as "I portray a character from a series or invent one and make up scenarios with friends on the internet who portray other characters. We keep the scenes going back and forth." Despite this, I don't think my mother gets it at all. My friends didn't get it at the start, until I made them rp with me via notebooks when we were in middle school, it turned into an obsession for all of us... Good times lmao.

wait tony and peter in the mcu or in the comics?
(and I don't mean this in a judgmental way, I mean it in a 'being a comic book fan first way' and someone who hasn't bothered checking up on the mcu in a while way)
I know literally nothing about the Marvel Comics verses, I want to get into them but there's about a million different ones and I never know where to begin.
But in that post I was referring to the main MCU line with Tom Holland's Spiderman. I think I'm possibly right when I say I know Peter is in his twenties or early thirties in quite a few of the comics?

SKILLS & ABILITIES.
TELEPATHY --- (as a Spirit of Compassion, able to read thoughts and emotions of those who need help. Can also make them forget him.)
MISC.
Cole is driven by, and feels, other peoples' Angst and is thus compelled to act to end it. However, he says that feeling it doesn't have a demoralizing effect on him at all; he uses it to help people, and that's it.
His mind-reading ability is specifically tuned to whether someone is suffering emotionally, and/or whether he can do anything to remedy it.
Cole can 'hear' and feel magic in ways that surprise the party mages. He approves if the Inquisitor becomes a Rift Mage, as they and Solas remind him of the Fade. He's less fond of Necromancy, as it involves manipulating wisps that might become spirits. He also describes magical whispers as being so loud he can see them, to the Inquisitor's confusion.
Cole's abilities of telepathy and making people forget him are largely harmless, and he even uses them to help people. However, those same abilities can be used in battle to make him a scarily effective assassin.
PERSONALITY IN DEPTH.
Cole approves of those who go out of their way to help the helpless or the hurt. He approves of killing or punishing those who hurt people. Allow him to help but do not condone his past of killing mages nor asserting to stop him if he kills innocents as that will net disapproval. Be wary of imprisoning people in your judgments as that also nets disapproval.
A few side quests in the Hinterlands and the Exalted Plains where you help people in dire circumstances gains him moderate approval whether he is in the party or not. However, there are several instances that will yield Cole Greatly Approves:
Ally with Mages
Disband Templars
Tell Cole to "give him a chance" when talking about the injured man in agony.
Exile the Grey Wardens
Convince all three leaders to have a public truce and work for the betterment of Orlais or reunite Briala with Celene.
Ally with Abelas and the Sentinels if Cole is in the party during the quest.
Expressing intent to rescue Solas rather than kill him.
BACKSTORY.
Cole is a unique entity, described as being caught somewhere between the realm of the Fade and the real world. He is a spirit, though there are some who believe that he may be some sort of demon pretending to be human. Cole himself is unsure of what exactly he is, and his unique set of abilities are unprecedented. Cole also has the uncanny ability to sense people who are in pain. He uses this ability to find people in the most painful moment of their lives and offers them comfort without hesitation, judgement, or expectation of thanks. He is searching for his place in the world; an ally to those who wish to help others.
Prior to his death, the mage formerly known as Cole was an apostate that befriended a spirit of compassion. When Cole was around twelve years old, his father attempted to kill him, as he had Cole's mother, for having "evil" in him. Cole hid with his younger sister Bunny, and accidentally killed her while trying to keep her quiet. Cole later killed his father by sinking a dagger into his heart. The dagger had originally belonged to his mother, the only piece of the wilder folk she'd kept.
The templars arrested Cole after the deaths of his family, and placed him in the dungeons of the White Spire, as is customary for young mages who have deliberately caused injury or death to others. The spirit would later recall that his human counterpart suffered beatings and "worse than beatings" from templars.
While an inquiry was supposed to follow his arrest, a new templar filled out the paperwork incorrectly, which resulted in Cole being placed in one of the most remote cells and forgotten. He eventually starved to death. As Knight-Commander Laroche deemed Cole "a possessed abomination waiting to happen" and the templar responsible sufficiently racked with guilt, he decided against punishing the templar and instead erased all records of Cole's existence. Unable to help the young man, the spirit instead became him, gaining his personality and memories upon his death and becoming corporeal in the process.
DRAGON AGE: ASUNDER
Cole is first encountered as the Ghost of the Spire. No one can see or remember him—none save Rhys, who goes on to form a friendship with the young man over the course of a year. Cole is also the murderer who has been stalking the corridors of the Spire, granting apprentices and newly-arrived mages a swift end rather than the eventual prospect of Tranquility or execution by the Templars. He does these so-called mercy killings because those who wish for death or are about to die are the only ones who can see and "remember" him.
Before Rhys, Wynne, Evangeline and Adrian leave for Adamant Fortress, Cole overhears Evangeline's conversation with Lord Seeker Lambert, who orders her to kill the mages should they discover that the Rite of Tranquility can be reversed. Worried, Cole follows the group in an attempt to warn Rhys and keep him safe. While in Adamant, the group, including Cole, are drawn into the Fade and face various nightmares—one of which is a memory of Cole's. It reveals that Cole came from a very poor family with a violently abusive father who thought his son cursed for having magic and tried to kill him. It is later revealed that Cole eventually killed his father. Some time after this, the Templars found him and brought him to the Spire.
The group escapes the Fade and manages to free Pharamond from the demonic possession. They leave Adamant with the knowledge that it's possible to reverse the Rite of Tranquility. On the way back to Val Royeaux, Pharamond has to be repeatedly reintroduced to Cole due to the latter's ability to make people forget him. Pharamond takes interest in Cole and speculates that he's a hedge mage, though Cole denies any ability to do magic. Pharamond explains the concept of "arcanist derangement", thinking that it might be applicable to Cole.
After Rhys is imprisoned for the apparent murder of Pharamond, everyone suspects Cole to be the culprit. However, when confronted by Wynne and Evangeline, Cole reveals that although Pharamond begged him for death, he refused. Cole then joins Leliana in storming the Spire's cells and freeing the imprisoned mages. Cole goes to locate Rhys and frees him. They attempt to escape the Spire through the sewers, but are discovered by Lambert. Lambert reveals he used Rhys' phylactery, which he had kept on his person to prevent it from being destroyed. Cole tries to murder Lambert, but the Lord Seeker is able to disrupt Cole's invisibility using the Litany of Adralla, revealing that Cole is in fact a spirit or demon with the ability to keep people from remembering him, or even noticing him at all. The Lord Seeker relentlessly assaults Cole, accusing him of using Rhys to commit murder. Cole slowly realizes that Lambert is correct about what he is, and with that knowledge, fades away.
After Lambert has dictated a letter, declaring the independence of the Templars and Seekers from Chantry oversight, he retires to his quarters for the evening but finds himself confronted by Cole with a dagger to his throat. The Lord Seeker is surprised, but Cole explains that there was in fact a human mage named Cole who had been brought to the dungeons of the Spire and was subsequently forgotten and left to starve by the Templars. His cries had attracted the spirit now posing as Cole, who had stayed with him to console him until the very end. Lambert demands to know what Cole wants, to which Cole replies to Lord Seeker Lambert that he wants him to "look into [his] eyes", the same thing he told all his victims before killing them.
DRAGON AGE: INQUISITION
When you first get to Skyhold he will be down in the bottom courtyard. It is also here where a small cut scene will take place, where Cole is sensing the pain of a dying soldier. The Inquisitor has the option to allow Cole to grant the man peace by death, or to tell Cole to let the man try and recover.
After this Cole moves to the upstairs in the tavern. Cole begins doing odd things around Skyhold, such as burning turnips or hoarding daggers.
After the Inquisition confront the Grey Wardens at the Adament Fortress, Cole begs Solas to bind him in order to prevent him from being controlled like the demons. Solas initially refuses and the Inquisitor can go to retrieve an amulet which can prevent spirits from being controlled, even through blood magic. Once the amulet is retrieved, Solas finds that something is blocking its magic from effecting Cole.
Cole senses the location of the thing preventing amulet from working. The Inquisitor, Cole, Solas, and Varric Tethras go to the location to find the Templar that left the original "Cole" to die in the cell at the White Spire. Cole goes into a rage and attacks the Templar, chasing him away. Solas suggests Cole embrace his essence as a spirit of compassion and forgive the Templar, while Varric suggests Cole to face his offender head on and come to terms with what happened.
If the Inquisitor chooses to have Cole forgive the Templar, Solas and Cole confront the Templar and Solas advises Cole to feel the Templar's regret for his actions. Cole accepts himself as a spirit of compassion and the amulet works so he can never be bond or controlled by others. He feels everyone's pain but he can approach them, unseen and whisper words to them to ease their pain.
If the Inquisitor sides with Varric, Varric and Cole confront the Templar and Varric gives Bianca to Cole to kill the Templar. Cole points the weapon at the Templar but chooses to spare the Templar. Solas says the amulet will never work on Cole and Varric insists it is because Cole is now more human and is no longer vulnerable to being controlled because of it. Cole can still feel people's pain, but he could now be seen and remembered by people and begins to feel things he had never felt prior.
Trespasser
Two years after Corypheus' defeat, the Inquisitor can meet Cole before meeting the Exalted Council after he subtly has an Orlesian noble relinquish his table so that a bird may feast on his left over bread crumbs. He then joins the Inquisitor as a companion as they uncover a Qunari plot in the midst of Exalted Council's negotiations with the Inquisition.
Cole is more human
If Cole was made more Human, it is revealed that he and Maryden Halewell have become a couple, and in the end, the two will travel together across Thedas, where Cole and Maryden work together to ease the pain of many people.
Cole is more of a spirit
If Cole was made more Spirit, he will subtly play matchmaker between Maryden Halewell and Krem (if the Chargers are alive) or Zither (if the Chargers are dead).
In the end, Cole will return to the Fade because he senses that will be where he will be most needed to ease pain as a Spirit of Compassion, but he promises his friends in the Inquisition will not forget him.

my five favourite animated movie villains of the past 15 years ( if you wanna share who yours are down below I'd love to read them)
5. Chef from Trolls 2016.
not exactly a complex character by any means she's selfish sadistic and has no real sympathetic qualities at all.
she made herself Rich and Famous by being the head Chef of Bergen town killing and cooking Trolls literally writing a Book on the subject.
and after the Trolls escape and she's Banished from her home forced to live a life of obsessed solitude in the woods for 20 years searching for the Trolls.
she's established in the film as only caring about using the Trolls to get herself back in a position of power as opposed to her actually caring about her people being happy again.
and she's shown being subtly judgmental of King Gristle Jr clearly resenting the fact that he's technically in charge instead of her ( which tbf he is an idiot but his heart is in the right place )
and its clearly established that she can easily twist him around her finger and she wants to basically rule Bergentown from behind the scenes.
so yeah like I said Chef isn't complex or anything for me I like her just because she's so simple in a way she's just a good old fashioned villain who loves what she does and is easy to hate.
and her implied actions in her backstory are pretty Horrifying to be honest.
4. Spot from Across The Spider Verse 2023.
I mean for starters the guy's just adorable lol he's so clumsy and awkward and talkative and just very bad at being bad. 😂😂😂😂
and the situation of his origin is kinda complex enough that I feel bad for him even tho it isn't as cut and dry as him being an out and out victim.
as he was still a criminal scientist working for the Kingpin but him ending up basically disfigured in a way and lumped with powers that he couldn't control at first.
I mean at the start of the film he had next to no control over where his portals went to or when they opened.
like imagine how Horrible that would actually be its like he had Tourette's only his Tick was portals that could literally jump him to anywhere at any given time.
and it is pretty sad how he said because of his condition he couldn't find a Job and his own family were too ashamed to even be around him.
so yeah while he was never exactly an innocent victim he was someone who was way over punished for his sins and it was kinda understandable why he snapped and became worse in the end.
after no one took his pain seriously let alone actually tried to help him.
3. Kingpin from Into The Spider Verse 2018.
two in a Row lol anyway Spider Verse 2018 back when it came out was one of the most pleasant surprises of my life as I had no expectations for this film and I was only really going to see it out of a sense of obligation given I'm a comic fan.
but yeah I ended up loving it and was super surprised by how good I found it and one thing I did love was its version of Kingpin leaving aside his over the top size which is straight up comedic tbh.
he is an enjoyable intimidating presence he has some big feats for a animated PG film namely murdering one of the most famous superheroes of all time on screen.
and later killing our main characters uncle anyway what I mainly love about this version of Kingpin is how similar to the Spot he Tows the line between being sympathetic and unsympathetic.
he lost his wife and son in a tragic car accident due to them running away in fear After seeing him trying to kill spider man so while his life of crime is to blame for him losing them in the first place.
I still can't help but feel bad for a guy who's so desperate he's willing to do anything to get them back and him lashing out in Rage killing spider man
after he tries to warn him about why his plan to bring alternative versions of his wife and son into their universe to be with him won't work was a great way to set up intrigue for his motives earlier in the film.
plus the scene during the final battle where he sees the alternative version of his wife and son and same as his versions they get horrified by him trying to kill spider man and run away.
and he Desperately pleads with them to stay with him like I'm sorry but that honestly made my eyes begin to water both times I saw the film in Cinemas
that scene got the same emotional reaction out of me honestly its sad af 😢😢😢😢
2. Tighten from Megamind 2010.
from Megamind one of my favourite movies of all time not just animated movies anyway Hal I feel is a good example of a villain not Really being at all sympathetic but still being pretty complex.
he's a socially awkward nerd who has a crush on the women he works with as a news cameraman he's the stereotypical underdog who's normally made to be the hero by the end of these sorta stories.
ya know get himself superpowers learn how to use them become a hero stop the bad guy get the girl and live happily ever after.
which is exactly how Hal himself thinks which means when reality doesn't match what he sees as the natural progression of his story he can't accept it.
aka he can't accept the fact that despite getting powers and becoming a hero the women he loves doesn't want to be with him something which she had already made pretty clear to him earlier in the film but Hal just didn't accept it then either.
yeah the guy's pretty Blatantly Misogynistic with how he views Roxanne if he was a modern day character we'd probably refer to him as an Incel.
as the guy shows an entitlement to her and viewing other men who she actually has Romantic feelings for as being in the wrong and in the way of what's Rightfully his.
even before he turns villainous Hal shows signs of being a selfish person underneath so once he Realises being a hero won't get him the woman he wants he very quickly resorts to using his powers for his own gain.
and eventually causes mass destruction to the city planning to destroy the entire place simply out of spite for Roxanne Rejecting him.
so yeah like I said Hal isn't a sympathetic villain at least not in my opinion but he is a fairly complex character.
1. Killian from Spies In Disguise 2019.
underrated film in my opinion and its sad that Blue sky studios was shut down.
anyway I loved Killian even if you don't like the movie overall you gotta admit he was a badass villain he's a Rare case nowadays of a kids movie villain actually being serous and never once making a Joke.
anyway he was intelligent badass Ruthless Killian was allowed to kill someone on screen with other kills heavily implied making him a very serous threat.
he was a lone wolf carrying out his whole plan himself with only machine Drones to help him and his motives are pretty interesting.
I mean not that a guy wanting revenge for lost loved ones is a unique motive but the fact that he's established as being a criminal who was part of a larger criminal crew who were killed by our main character years prior to the main story.
does go well with the movie's little moral Debate on violence and what should and shouldn't be the military and police force's go to level of violence when approaching these type's of criminals.
its interesting because again he isn't 100 percent sympathetic because he and his friends were bad people before who were apparently planning to do bad things.
but at the same time our main character is established as someone who's go to choice for dealing with criminals is excessive violence and he even makes jokes out of killing criminals and has fun with it.
with him at the start of the film not even being willing to consider that less violent approaches could still work in some situations and that way he could solve some issues without even the bad guys needing to die as at the end of the day they are people as well.
sure some are just set in their ways and they may not be able to be stopped without the more excessive approach.
but that doesn't mean that our main character shouldn't necessarily try I think is the point the movie was making which yeah regardless of your thoughts on the moral point of the movie.
I thought it was an interesting thing for the film to talk about and again despite him obviously being a bad person part of me can't help but feel a bit bad for Killian.
since its made very clear he cared about his old friends to the point that losing them made him say that he'd lost everyone he cared about and he did embark on a years long plan to Avenge them.
so yeah overall just a really solid villain in my opinion.
anyway those are my picks please tell me yours down below if you fancy btw the reason why I chose films of the past 15 years and only 5 picks
is just because I didn't want to make a list that was too long and bloated since I did want to talk a bit about each villain and what I liked about them.
so if I had gone with having a top 10 list or a list that was of all time as opposed to only animated films in the last 15 years then this post would have been way way too long haha 😅😅😅😅

Things were feeling normal again. Loki was acclimating between long bouts of meditation and exploring the galaxy with Six in hand. Things were healing, she almost didn’t think about killing the Liesmith every waking moment, not when her Loki was here and back and happy and safe.
Then this would happen -- a brutal reminder, a memory of his crackling and hateful laugh on the wind, and Six knew she would. She had to. She wanted to. He’d never be full healed until the monster was slain. Her fingertips ghosted across the old injury. She remembered all too well how he’d recoiled in pain in a ruined mining camp on a moon for no place in particular. She felt the need to apologize for barging in the way she had, even after knocking. The apology was for more than simply coming in -- in fact, it wouldn’t have been for that at all.
“Probably as much as it upsets you,” A hopefully gentle way of reminding him his feelings mattered too, “I don’t want you to hide it -- it’s a part of you, Loki. It’s a part of you that you shouldn’t feel like hiding, either. I think that would do more harm than good.”
Loki had always been one to encourage her impulse. The one she had now was to plant a kiss against his back where the muscle and scar met. Pink and raw, and healing so very painfully slowly if at all. Her hands moved to his shoulder so he could turn around to face her, so she could see him from the front. A delicate touch moved down to inspect it there. Another kiss, another soft acceptance of something like the kindness would heal it.
“Does it still hurt?”
