when i was 16 i had an idea for a prank black metal band called Esquilax. My plan was for my real band at the time (Forcebled) to record a hissy BM demo under the name Esquilax, and pass it around at shows and so forth, telling people they were members of the Norwegian Black Circle who had been excommunicated for being too extreme. they were now hiding out somewhere on the east coast, plotting their next move.

I was firmly inspired by the lore behind Brujeria. It was like GWAR, but less Toxic Avenger and more grisly Mexican newspapers. they really just sounded like the hardest, most evil shit i had ever heard up to that point in my life... more than living up to the kayfabe backstory.

It is with deep sadness we have to announce that our leader Juan Brujo has passed away today. Juan suffered a heart attack on early Monday morning, after a day off from the current Mexorcista tour in Saint Clairsville, Ohio. He was rushed to the nearest hospital in Wheeling, West Viriginia by emergency services, but, despite the medical team's greatest efforts, he died this morning. His family, friends and bandmates are devastated and wish to mourn in private, while they appreciate the fans' love and support.

Es con profundo dolor que debemos anunciar la partida de nuestro líder Juan Brujo en el día de hoy. Juan sufrió un ataque al corazón en la madrugada de este lunes, después de un día libre de la actual gira Mexorcista en Saint Clairsville, Ohio. Rápidamente fue llevado al hospital más cercano en Wheeling, West Virginia por los servicios de emergencia, pero, a pesar de los grandes esfuerzos del equipo médico, falleció esta mañana. Su familia, amigos y compañeros de banda están devastados y desean llevar su luto en privado, agradeciendo el cariño y apoyo de los fans.

On the subject of Abuela Dolores being very much single, here are some doodles of her old ex husbands.

That’s right! She didn’t kill her husbands at all (yet.)

Juancho was her first love, but their marriages soured and the divorce was not amicable. Aware of her occult abilities, he blames all of his bad luck on Dolores and holds a hilariously unhealthy amount of resentment towards her.

Rafael (the biological grandfather of the boys) was smitten with Dolores and in a lot of ways continues to be. They divorced because of differences in their life goals and Rafael being too controlling. He regrets his mistakes, but knows reconciliation with his ex-wife is a lost cause.

Dolores realized quick she was happier with no partner. It’s a mystery if she hates either of them or if she has moved on, but she cackles when she thinks about her exes.

There's a couple of bands that mean a lot to me and my relationship with my brother and one of them is Brujeria. It was listening to Brujeria and Los Crudos (and Limp Wrist) that me and me brother became friends rather than just siblings.
