Celebrating Josuke Higashikata for ★ JosuMay2019★

For the whole of May we��re celebrating our Part 4 boi Josuke by making Josuke-centric art or fic. If you’d like to join in, just tag your finished piece with #josumay2019 and we’ll share it. (You can ofc use other characters, but we wanna make Josuke the focus)

Day One: My Trip to the Beach

Here’s my first drabble for Josumay over at @pompadorararaa! I’m experimenting with putting drabbles on background images, so we’ll see how that goes, but here’s the plain text as well:

Josuke basks in the warmth of the hairdryer, a reminder of the cosy bed he'd been forced out of by his mother. He's only half awake, but years of practice means that he could do this in his sleep. Bit by bit the pompadour gradually edges further out, and he gets a bit closer to being ready to deal with the day. He smooths down the back of his head and tidies the tails, before washing the leftover pomade off his hands. One last mirror check: he strikes a pose. Yeah, looking good, and ready to rock. Unstoppable and unbreakable.

While Okuyasu is in the bathroom, Josuke hurriedly recounts the morning to Koichi. “... So, Ma invited him in, and then I had to come to school with him.”

Koichi frowns. “I mean, he needs friends, right? We can't just ignore him...” Koichi is clearly uneasy – fair enough, Josuke thinks – but he also has that look in his eye, like when he'd been going to hunt for the bow and arrow all alone. He's determined to 'Do The Right Thing', even if it kills him. It's kinda kewl.

Josuke's willing to back him again. “Yeah, I guess so.

I wanted to do a daily drabble challenge for Josumay, but I couldn’t find a pre-made list that I liked, so slapped this together for myself. I tried to make it compatible with the main prompts, so the two lists have some prompts that are similar, or will fit together well.

Anyway, if anyone else wants to join in with this, please do!

I'm excited that I have completed week one of my Josumay challenge on time! And that's a coincidence, because the theme for day 7 is...

Excited 

Josuke thrusts open the front door with such force that it slams into the wall, and practically dives into the house and upstairs to his room, whooping with unrestrained glee.

“Josuke! Don't slam the damn door!” Tomoko sticks her head out from the lounge room. “Oh, hello Okuyasu!”

Okuyasu pauses as he pads down the hallway after Josuke. “Hi, Ms. Higashikata!”

“What's he worked up about this time?”

Okuyasu opens his mouth to answer, but is beaten to it by the blast of a CD player at full volume from upstairs. He raises his voice a little. “New Prince album.”

Will ships be allowed for josumay? o: (like jo/su/han or jo/su/ya/su or jo/su/ko/i, for example)

As long as it's a very Josuke-focused piece of art/fic I don't see why not. It's entirely up to the inspiration of the content creator, but if work is tagged as josumay2019 we'll be able to see it and share it.
