Secret Relationship - SAI!Josh x Fem!Joseph!Reader
Pairing: Josh Dun x Fem!Joseph!Reader - Tyler's younger sister
Warnings: Some swearing, Tyler threatening Josh
Word Count: 1445
Summary: Josh and Y/N have been hiding their relationship from Tyler for a year but when they go on tour everything goes wrong.
PART 2
Tumblr media
The Takeover Tour. My brother Tyler had invited me to go on tour with him and Josh this cycle. It was the final year of my studies and I’d arranged to finish my work online while on tour, lucky me. Scaled and Icy was my favorite of all Twenty One Pilots’ albums to date, the bright colors and propaganda concept had made a nice change in their discography. The boys were soundchecking and I’d decided to sit in on it, listening to their music while working on my laptop. Josh was sitting on his drum throne scrolling on his phone and waiting for Tyler to talk to one of the sound guys. A notification popped up on my computer.
Josh: Hi
I looked up and flashed him a smile.
Y/N: Hi :)
Josh and I had been secretly dating for the last year, and Tyler had no idea, which meant we had to hide it while we were on tour. It was easy for us to sneak around back home because Tyler wasn’t always around but here on tour, it was almost impossible.
Josh: What’cha working on?
Y/N: An essay about the French revolution. What’s up?
Josh: Oui Oui
Josh: Um, I was wondering if you wanted to go hang out in the tour bus after soundcheck. Have some alone time before the show.
Y/N: You know I’d jump at the opportunity for alone time with you J
I smiled up at Josh to see him wink at me.
Y/N: Don’t let Tyler catch you looking at me like that Mr Dun
Josh: Even if he did catch me Miss Joseph, he’d never assume that we’re together.
The boys worked till about 4:30, Tyler went back to his dressing room and Josh ran out to the bus. I made sure to wait a few minutes before running out after him. The bunks Josh and I were staying in were right next to each other, both on the top at the back of the bus, meaning that if we were about to get caught, we’d know. It had been a while since we’d actually touched one another and it had practically been torture. Josh was wearing a black t-shirt that perfectly showed off the beaded necklace I’d gotten him when the album came out, a necklace that Tyler had no idea I’d gifted Josh.
“Come here,” Josh held out his arms and I walked slowly into them. I breathed in his scent, a warm vanilla smell that reminded me of a candle I used to burn in my room. Josh had been growing out his hair for a while, meaning that all the color he’d dyed into it had been cut off and replaced by a curly brown mop I’d loved more than anything else he’d even done with it.
“How much longer do we have to keep this up Josh? I hate lying to people about us, especially to Tyler,” I laid my head against his chest and he wrapped his arms around me.
“Just a few more weeks. I swear, we’ll tell him once tour is over,” he sighed. We walked into the back lounge and closed the doors, cuddling under a blanket. I wanted to tell Tyler more than anything but I knew he’d kill us. Knowing his little sister and best friend had been together behind his back for a year would hurt him more than anything else could. I moved so that I was laying on Josh’s chest, eyes closed from the long day of work.
“I’m so tired,” I yawned.
“Then go to sleep babe, I’ll wake you up when I have to go get ready for the show,” I nodded, finally accepting that I deserved some much needed rest. Josh placed a kiss on my head, his arms cradling me in a perfect position. “I’ve got you.”
An hour later
My eyes were slow to open, but as I heard the sliding door move I sat up faster than Josh could say ‘I love you’.
“Josh! Josh!” I frantically shake him awake.
“What fuck are you two doing?” A voice. Tyler’s voice. Tyler never swore, which meant this was bad, really bad.
“Oh man,” Josh ran a hand through his curls. We were in big trouble. Tyler looked shell shocked, his entire body stiff with anger. “Tyler I swear it isn’t what it looks like.”
“Really? Because what it looks like is my best friend and little sister are–” he paused, an expression of nausea crossed his face “it looks like you’re a lot more comfortable with each other than I thought you were, which means you’ve been hiding something from me.” It was exactly what it looked like. I stood up, feeling tears build up in my eyes. I reached a hand out for Tyler but he jerked back. “Don’t touch me Y/N.”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know what to do Tyler, I didn’t know how to tell you,” I muttered.
“Oh so you thought you’d lie to me. How long has this been going on?” He looked desperate to know everything.
“A year,” Josh sighed.
“A year?! Y/N don’t you see he’s clearly trying to take advantage of you?” Tyler brought his hands up to cover his face. “I can’t believe you’d do this to her man.” He was blaming Josh. I couldn’t let that happen. The two most important people in my life were not going to fight because I decided to date my brother’s best friend. Josh looked destroyed inside. He was speechless.
“He’s not doing anything, okay? I’m happy with him. He’s been the most supportive person I’ve ever been with,” I laid a hand on Tyler’s shoulder, this time he didn’t move away.
“You ever hurt her and I’ll kill you Josh,” Tyler seethed, Josh’s head hung low. “But if you’re happy Y/N then I trust you. You’ve never shown me that I shouldn’t trust you.” He was letting us stay together? Tyler? My brother who never let me date anyone ever was letting me stay with Josh. I pulled him in tightly for a hug.
“I love you Ty.”
“Yeah, yeah, I know. Josh you need to get ready for the set, we’re on in 30,” he looked over me to Josh.
“I’m so sorry man, I should’ve told you sooner,” his voice was breaking.
“Don’t apologize. You care about her, you should’ve told me sooner, but I know now and that’s all that matters. Now, we’ve got a show to put on. I’ll see you out there,” he smiled, before leaving the bus. Finally Josh and I were alone again.
“Are you okay?” I asked, cupping his face.
“Not really. I feel like crap. I royally messed up and now I have to go play a show in front of thousands of fans when all I want to do is crawl up into a ball and cry,” he shook his head in an attempt to wave off the tears. I pressed a kiss to his lips which he lazily returned.
“You still love me right? This hasn’t messed anything up?” I searched his eyes looking for an answer.
“I still love you Y/N, I’m just gonna have to figure out how to protect you from the world now. People are going to know about us now and I don’t want you to get hurt. Not to mention that Tyler and I’s dynamic is probably going to change now”
“You’re forgetting my brother is the frontman of this band Josh. I’ve had to deal with the fame stuff since I was 17. And Tyler doesn’t hate you, he’s just going to have to get used to us,” I smiled, dropping my hands from his face.
“I guess you’re right,” he nodded, leaning forward to kiss me. I gripped the back of his neck and pulled him in closer, deepening the kiss. He was perfect in every way and finally he was able to be mine. “I love you,” he sighed into a soft smile.
“JOSH! I swear, I have no idea what you’re doing in there but if you don’t get out here and on that damn stage I will tell Tyler what you two have been doing for the last year!” A voice that could only be Mark’s shouted from outside the bus. Josh got up quickly and ran in the direction of the stage as I followed slowly behind him.
“I’m not even going to ask how you know we’re together but FYI Mark, Tyler walked in on us half an hour ago, so you’re a little bit behind with the blackmail.”

I hope this is good, I feel kinda iffy about it...
Fixing my hair for the final time, I glanced beside me at Josh looking handsome as ever in his suit. Tyler sat across from us next to Jenna in the limo, all four of us dressed to the nines for the award show. Over the past 2 years, I have been working on my third album. When it was released, all of my fans and Twenty One Pilots fans got it to number one on a bunch of charts. So much so that I was nominated for a Grammy. I of course brought Josh, my boyfriend, as my date, and I had to bring Tyler and Jenna. They'd been my best friends since I met Josh and helped a ton while making the album.
The limo finally stopped at our destination and my hands shook slightly. Noticing this, Josh grabbed my hand and rubbed his thumb over my knuckles, “Hey, they love you, there’s nothing to worry about, okay?” he whispered quietly to me. I nodded and swallowed thickly. He kissed the side of my head and the door to the limo opened. Lights flashing all around us were blinding, fans were standing behind velvet ropes and security guards stood at either side of the door. Josh stepped out first and held his hand to help me get out. I took it and stepped out, Tyler and Jenna following soon after.
“Y/n we love you!” “Oh my gosh Twenty One Pilots?!” “I love you y/n!” “We hope you win y/n!”
Fans were yelling toward us and we just smiled and waved every so often. I was already beginning to get overwhelmed with all of the paparazzi and noise. Josh gently squeezed my hand reassuringly and I squeezed back. We walked through the doors to the venue and were met with even more paparazzi and a photo-op section. We all stood with each other for photos and I was pulled aside by an interviewer. Josh, Tyler and Jenna stayed back for more photos.
“So y/n big day huh? We’ve heard that you’re nominated for 3 Grammy's tonight, how do you feel?” The interviewer, a young woman, asked me.
I smiled and nodded along, “I’m super excited to be here with my team and friends but also nervous. I don’t have a speech prepared.” The woman laughed lightly and continued with another question.
“We see you brought a Grammy winning band with you tonight, maybe they’ll give you some of their good luck?” she motioned toward Josh and Tyler standing with a reporter, Tyler with his arm around Jenna.
“Yes, my boyfriend Josh is with me of course and I couldn’t be here without Tyler and Jenna. All three of them have been absolutely amazing and supportive. It wasn’t easy making an album while on tour with them.” I smiled toward Josh as he made brief eye contact with me and came toward me wrapping an arm around my waist and kissing me on the top of my head.
“Well y/n, we hope to see you go home with an award tonight, good luck!” I smiled at her and shook her hand. After catching back up with Tyler and Jenna, the four of us went inside the theater to find our seats.
“Does it feel weird to be here a second time?” I looked toward the three next to me.
“It feels weird to be here with my pants on.” Tyler smiled and Jenna just laughed and shook her head. I laughed along with her rolled my eyes
“Josh, if I win, can you promise to keep your pants on?” He gave me a small smirk.
“No promises sweetheart.” Rolling my eyes jokingly, I sat down in my seat and we waited patiently for the ceremony to begin.
Soon enough, the lights dimmed and it started. After a ton of applauding and singing along to some performances, it was finally time to announce the main award I was nominated for. My palms grew clammy and I grabbed both Josh and Jenna’s hands. Josh smiled at me and they read of the nominees, we were shown on the big screen as the announcer named us.
“And the winner,” Taking a deep breath, I squeezed Josh’s hand and he put his own over top of mine. “ for best album goes to… y/n with (album name)!” I gasped and looked at Josh with wide eyes.
He smiled back at me and I stood to walk onto the stage for my award, the audience cheering loudly behind me. I shook the announcer's hands and stepped to the microphone, award in hand. “Thank you so much for this. I want to thank my friends who are here with me tonight, you guys kept me sane. And I want to give the biggest thank you to my wonderful boyfriend who’s also with me tonight. I couldn’t have done any of this without you. I love you. Finally, thank you, thank you so much to my amazing fan base. You are the reason I do this.” I smiled and stepped to the side and started toward the stairs back to my seat.
“Y/n everybody!” The announcers spoke and a roar of applause was heard. When I sat back in my seat, Josh kissed my hand lightly. “See, I knew you could do it, and my pants are still on.” I chuckled at him and turned toward Jenna and Tyler.
“We’re so proud of you y/n. I knew you could do it.” Jenna squeezed my other hand and Tyler nodded beside her.
After the show came to a close, we exited the venue with another slew of photos taken and questions answered. One limo ride and a bunch of celebratory car karaoke later, Josh and I had been dropped off at Josh’s house. We said goodbyes to Jenna and Tyler and went inside. My feet were cramping from being squished into heels all night and my dress was becoming itchy.
“Would you please unzip my Josh?” I asked with my back turned toward him.
“It would be my pleasure hun.” He smiled and unzipped my dress, kissing my shoulder as I slid it off of my body, “I’m so proud of you baby. You deserve the world for all of your hard work.” I blushed and went to put on my pajamas.
“Thank you babe. It feels nice to know that people love what I make for them.” He agreed and walked into the bathroom to get ready for bed. I followed and after brushing our teeth, we climbed into bed. Josh’s arm wrapped around me and I was pulled into his chest. I breathed in his scent and a wave of calm washed over me. “Even if I hadn’t won an award tonight, this feels just as rewarding.”
He lifted my chin slightly, “I love you so much,” and with that, he kissed me sweetly, smiling into it. I pulled back for a moment.
“I love you too.” Leaning back into the kiss, his smile widened. We pulled apart and I laid my head on his chest, letting his heartbeat lull me to sleep. A kiss was placed atop my head and a small goodnight was whispered before my heavy eyelids gave way and sleep took over.
I was the luckiest girl in the world.

Tumblr media
You didn’t even know that the competition was going on.
You were never one to pay too much attention to social media, especially when it came to trying to hide spoilers of your favorite band’s upcoming tour. The Clancy Tour was supposed to be an amazing show, from your online friend’s spoiler-free descriptions of events. Pyrotechnics and the boys moving all around the entire arena, making sure that every person in every seat had something fun to look forward to. It was really sweet, you thought, how far they were going for this tour. It was a big one, after all, so why wouldn’t they? Your heartbeat was racing in line as you bounced on your feet, seeing each of the security guards offering out numbered bracelets to each person with smiles.
“Here you go,” One said when she finally reached you, “Looks like you’re 121.”
You were a little disappointed not to get double digits for your first show, but you didn’t look a gift horse in the mouth as you grinned and thanked her. She flashed something of a knowing smile for only a second before moving on to the others behind you. You slipped the band around your wrist and wiggled it into place, looking around curiously to check if anyone else was leaving for food or rest so that you could sneak alongside them. The last thing you wanted was all of these people seeing you scurry away. The thought of all of those eyes sent a shiver down your spine.
“Hey, what’s your number?”
It was a different security guard this time, talking to the small chunk of you that had just received bands. The people around you rattled off their numbers as they gazed at their wrists. The security man's eyes settled on you. Your gaze flashed to your band and you repeated 121 to him. The man nodded and pointed at you, reaching out his hand with a quick, “Come with me, please.”
Your heart dropped to your stomach and you felt your head spin with shock. Did you do something wrong? Had you cut someone by mistake? You looked around at the others in line, all equally as confused as you were. With a shaky nod, you shimmied your way from the line and followed behind the security guard while trying to ignore the wetness of your palms growing ever intense. Panic rattled your head, loud and obtrusive in its indignancy.
You’re going to get kicked out of the show. Someone framed you for a crime. You were complained about and now they had to sort it out and-.
“Here.”
You blinked in surprise, returning to reality as you looked down at the thin, cleanly cut orange wristband with the words ‘VIP WINNER’ across the plastic in white, blocky font. The Clancy logo rested next to it, also in white, a clear indication of its finality alongside it stamped with the Fueled By Ramen trademark at the very edge. It was a legit thing. Your brows furrowed as you took it in your hand, looking back up to the small group of venue organizers and security you had just realized you were brought to.
“O-Oh um. What is this for?” You wondered, holding it up dumbly.
“We decided for a few of these shows to do a little raffle,” One of the venue managers, possibly a Twenty One Pilots crew member, explained, “They’re pretty hush, but we’ve been choosing one or two people at random in the GA line for a small meet and greet with the band. If you aren’t interested in it, we can take it back and redraw a number. Otherwise, if you want to, just talk with venue security at 3:00. Make sure it’s no later than 3:30, though, or we’ll revoke access.”
Meet and Greet. VIP. The words spun in your head as your smile spread on your lips and you nodded. Your legs were shaking and your body was vibrating with excitement. Anticipation. You had won something like that? You must have used up all of your luck for the year, surely, but somehow you were okay with that. Okay because you could come back at three and meet them. You could meet Josh Dun and Tyler Joseph.
And Josh Dun. You had said that already, though.
It wasn’t that you didn’t like Tyler, of course. His lyrics hit you where it hurt and his intensity was something you admired greatly. Josh, though…
You thought of pictures of him. His squinty smile as he stuck his broad tongue out to cameras for photographs. His messy hair, now under-dyed red against his strong jaw. His entire body practically rippled every time he hit his drum set in videos, sending beads of sweat flying off of his forehead as he kept beat. The same sweat that made him shine under stage lights and…
“Any questions?”
“N-No. No, thank you. I’ll just be back at 3 then?”
“Yep, that’s all there is to it.”
You guarded your wristband with a thank you and hurried off, shoving it in your pocket and keeping your hand on it as you weaved around people. You tried to ignore the paranoia that all of their eyes were on you. That they had known what you were receiving.
Luckily you made it home in one piece, with enough time to throw yourself into your bathroom for a half-hour shower. You rubbed your hair and body with your favorite scented shampoo and body wash, lathering yourself up to drown in your signature smell. You brushed your teeth at least three times, flossing and throwing back some mouthwash for an extra kick of minty freshness. You bit your lips and watched your face carefully, brows furrowed as you attempted to decide if makeup was a good idea or not. You decided to just wear Chapstick. You’d sweat off all of the makeup in the pit at the end of the night anyway, you forgot to buy setting spray.
The outfit was what took the longest. You swore you felt like you were spending hours debating between two pairs of pants and a mini-skirt when your phone chimed with a reminder you had set up earlier. 2:00. You had an hour to dress and book it to the venue. With a huff and a quick ‘fuck it’ you decided to go with what you knew would be the most practical in a tightly packed pit. Pants with a couple extra pockets, hanging low on your hips as you threw over a Clancy shirt you had chopped up into something of a cropped tank top for the hot weather of your city.
You made it to the venue a little early after. The ten-minute wait until exactly 3:00 was killing you. When the digits of your phone finally switched, however, you mumbled a polite ‘excuse me’ to those in line before reaching the front. The security guard looked at you, a different one from earlier. You cleared your throat and pulled out your wristband from your pocket, relieved you hadn’t forgotten to trade it from your previous pants.
His eyes lit up in understanding and he opened the door to the venue for you. You heard just a few mumbles behind you but chose to ignore them as you entered the space. Air conditioning hit you immediately, making you sigh in appreciation as your wristband was wrapped around your right hand and your ticket for the actual show was scanned. “The doors open at 6:15 and the band has a final sound check at 5, just for some finishing touches. Just wait here while we get you your escort.”
You nodded, mind buzzing as you stood awkwardly beyond the entryway of the space. Your eyes caught those outside through the glass doors, watching you with frowns of curiosity. Blushing and awkward, you shuffled away from the doorway and down the hall a little further towards the venue’s stage. You bit your lip and bounced on your heels as you watched a familiar-looking man hurry towards you with a grin on his lips and a clipboard between his hands. He looked tired.
“Hi! I’m Mark,” He greeted with a nod at you, “You’re the VIP Winner, right?”
“O-Oh! Yeah, yeah that’s me, I’m Y/N” You laughed nervously, “I’m still in shock from that, honesty. I didn’t think I’d get so lucky.”
“Everyone’s day comes.” Mark laughed with you as he tilted his head, “Well then, Y/N, let's head over. The basic gist of it is that you can come backstage and I’ll introduce you to Tyler and Josh. We have a bit of a little lunch set up in the back, not much just sandwiches, but you can have some if you’d like. Any food allergies?”
“Oh, no, thanks for asking though.”
“All good. I’ll have to have you leave around the final sound check since they’ll need to warm up after.”
“That’s so fine,” You agreed with a nod. You’d still get, what, a couple of hours alone with the both of them? Your mind was on fire and you hoped it wasn’t also on your cheeks as you scurried behind Mark, quickening your legs a bit in order to keep up with him. He must be built for walking fast at this point in his life.
The walk was around the main entrance to the stage and into the backrooms. Security smiled at Mark and greeted him as they let you both through. You tried to stick close, terrified of getting separated, until you came to the open space of a shared break room. Security guards and stage crew were all chatting, munching on sandwiches, and sipping water with grins on their faces. No music played, the room was only filled with talk. You admired the space as Mark pointed it to you, explaining it was where the food was and you were welcome to it. You were shown the bathroom, given a small peak of the stage being used, and then brought all the way backstage until you saw a single piece of printer paper taped to the front of a door.
TWENTY-ONE PILOTS: TALENT
Your heart was a roar in your ears, a crashing wave as you wiped your hands on your pants awkwardly. Mark knocked on the door a few times, calling out after, “Tyler, Josh, you guys decent? I brought the VIP for the Meet and Greet!”
A voice called after a beat of a pause, “Bring ‘em in Markie.”
With a roll of his eyes, Mark opened up the door and gestured for you to go in first. You almost couldn’t move, but you somehow willed your legs into the space regardless.
It was a medium-sized room, with a long countertop that doubled as a sunken vanity in front of a mirror. The other side was decorated with pictures of other performers who had been in the room, their signatures signed on each of them. A couch was tucked under the photographs, and that was where Tyler was sitting with his legs crossed as he peered down at his phone. Josh was standing, however, with a bottle of water in his hand as he pulled at the center of his tank top to allow air to flow between the fabric.
Josh looked up at you first and you swore you were going to melt right there. He smiled as your eyes met, nervous but welcoming as he approached you and Mark with an eager wave of his hand. You swore he’d be wagging his tail if he had one. It made your shoulders relaxed as you smiled back at him, extending your hand as he did his. Your palms touched and you were almost relieved to find that his were literally just as sweaty as yours. You both seemed to tense at it, but your smiles helped you both to come to an understanding that nothing had to be said about it.
Tyler appeared second, his hand in yours for only a moment as he balanced his phone in his other with a polite smile at you as well. “It’s nice to meet you,” Tyler’s voice was kind but shy as he nodded.
“You too,” You laughed in disbelief, “It’s amazing to be able to be here and see you guys. Your music’s done a lot for me, it really has. I’m sure you hear it all the time, but, seriously. I’m excited to see you live tonight.”
“Have you seen any shows before?” Josh questioned. You shook your head ‘no’.
“First time.” You laughed, “It was my Lucky Day to get this too, I suppose.”
“Maybe it was fate.” Josh laughed, and you looked up at him in surprise. His cheeks were rosy as he watched you. His eyes, for a moment, seemed to linger down at the exposed space of your stomach as your crop top rode up before snapping back to your face as you turned to him. The thought made you blush, embarrassed. Did he think your shirt was weird? Was he uncomfortable with your stomach? You tugged at the edges of your shirt slightly, hoping he didn’t notice as you nodded politely.
Mark left the three of you alone, promising to come back when the time was up and for both boys to text him if something came up. Security was right outside the door, giving them time and the boys a safety net in case anything happened. You never would, naturally, but you could imagine how this would have gone if someone with more sinister intentions had gotten in. It seemed to be part of being famous.
Luckily, the three of you grew more comfortable as time went on. Josh led the conversations mostly, asking you about your life and how you found the band. As you talked you relaxed, and that seemed to make Tyler become more open as well. He seemed to be harder to open up than Josh, who was practically holding onto your words and engaging them with questions and small jokes. The jokes bubbled laughter from both of your lips as he did, his phrases sweet but funny as you smiled at him.
It began to grow clear that you and Josh had similar interests. You had expressed your want to learn drums but never had the time with your life. You feared failure and the concept of having to keep so many beats at once with a set overwhelmed you. Josh, eager to prove that it was not hard at all, pulled you to the couch with him so he could teach you basic counting by slapping the coffee table in front of you. You followed his movements and, soon, the both of you were drumming on the wood in sync. The beat wasn’t bad, surely a song you had known from their setlist, as Josh played it with professional ease.
“You’re not bad at all!” Josh complimented as he looked at you from his side, “Maybe you should play a show.”
“Oh god no,” You snorted as you shook your head at him, “In front of that many people? You’re way braver than I am for that, you know?”
“The energy is worth it,” Josh smiled, all teeth, as he looked at you, “But the fire on stage does make it hot.”
‘Yeah you are’ you thought, but bit your lip to prevent the words from falling out on accident.
“Damnit,” Tyler’s voice snapped the both of you out of your conversation. Looking up, you saw the singer running a hand through his hair with a loud groan and a shake of his head. When he looked at you, his face was both anxious and apologetic as he bit his lip.
“The sound mixer is messing up and practically skipping three songs in the setlist,” Tyler complained, frustrated, “I need to go up there and check what they are so I can transfer them from my phone. I’m so sorry, Y/N, it’ll just be a bit. Josh, are you alright here with them?”
“Oh! Yeah, for sure,” Josh nodded, “Go ahead, man, just let me know if you need me out there.”
“I’ll be fine,” Tyler shook his head with a smile, “Just make sure Y/N gets a good lucky day!”
With that he shut the door, leaving you and Josh alone in the green room. Without another to talk with, it felt more…intimate. He felt so close, suddenly, next to you on that couch. Your knees were touching, his skin against yours in his cargo shorts as he kept his hands on the table along with you.
You tried to peek at him from the corner of your eyes. His hair curled around his jawline, fluffy with soft red edges around his neck. Some of his skin was colored too, from where the dye had gotten into his skin and remained there until a few more washes. It must have just been done for the show. You looked down further at his nose, so crooked and long. Lips that bent as he smiled, perfect teeth that you couldn’t help but guess the feeling of on your skin and-.
“Do I have something on my face?”
“No! No no no, sorry!” You flushed red, rubbing the back of your neck, “I didn’t think I was staring for that long is all, my bad.”
“What, at me?” Josh blushed in surprise.
You remained silent, looking away from his gaze by putting your face in your hands and trying not to scream in complete embarrassment. You felt tears reach your eyes, unable to help yourself, as your mind raced through the current situation. You hadn’t hidden your crush well enough. You had looked too long. If you explained yourself he’d call you a creep and call security to escort you out without even being able to say bye to Tyler and to thank Mark. Your words stuck in your throat as you inhaled shakily.
“Woah! Hey, hey, hey.”
Arms were around you, dragging you into a firm side as Josh rubbed his palm along your back. You tensed but allowed his touch to soothe you slightly as he pressed in and out according to your breathing. An effort to not make you hyperventilate. It was welcome as you tried to hold your tears back in and pull your hands from your face, sniffling and coughing as you fought away the attack with his help.
“I’m. Ok. I’m sorry.” You were quiet, afraid of your own voice as you nodded, “I’m really sorry.”
“Don’t be,” Josh smiled as he pulled his arms from around you, “I know that feeling. Pressure usually helps.”
“…Do you feel scared before you go on stage all the time?” You wondered, genuinely curious as you leaned back on the couch with an exhausted sigh.
Josh thought for a moment.
“I used to be, I think,” He leaned back with you too, “But now, with Tyler and how far we’ve come…It’s just easier to realize that, well, we’re kind of good at what we do. We love the feeling of the crowd. When I hear so many people from so many different angles I do feel nervous, yeah, but…also excited?”
You stared at him as he watched you back, and he licked his lips with a nervous laugh, “Sorry, I have a hard time wording things. It’s why I don’t talk in interviews that much. Tyler knows everything.”
“No! No, it was really helpful, honestly.” You reached out to give him a reassuring squeeze on his knee, just like he did to your shoulders when you panicked, “Thank you, really. Even if Tyler is busy, I’m honored.”
“Even if it’s just me?” Josh grinned playfully, but the words kind of hurt your heart. Did he think of himself as ‘just him’ often? You knew people online loved Tyler. They loved his lyrics and his energy. Many people loved Josh, too but somehow he still thought that?
“Because it’s you,” You emphasized with the most serious expression you could manage against your nerves, “Don’t tell Tyler, but I’ve always been in your lane more.”
He looked surprised, “Really?”
“Of course! Seeing you go out there and do your best despite your anxiety is amazing. Even from the bits you’ve been singing this tour, everyone is so proud of you. I am too. You’re just…Just so.”
You couldn’t stop your eyes from moving downwards just a bit. From his eyes to his lips and then to his chest, which was straining against the fabric of his tank top currently. You tried to swiftly pull them away before you could get caught as you swallowed thickly, “So amazing, is all.”
His cheeks glowed a rosy hue after a few moments, brown eyes wide and all but sparkling under the green room light. He looked so beautiful like this. You couldn’t believe you were in the room with him while he gazed at you with such surprise. You stared at his face, determined to remember every line and imperfection you possibly could. Your hand didn’t move from his knee, squeezing appreciatively as you bit your lip. Once you were sure he noticed you staring for too long, though, you moved your hand from him.
You weren’t expecting his hand to jut out and catch your wrist with a soft ‘wait’ leaving his lips. Freezing up, you stared at him in surprise. He seemed to have surprised himself, too, based on his look. The recovery was quick, though, because Josh cleared his throat and murmured something almost anxiously, “I-I-um. Do you…”
“Do I…?” You furrowed your brow.
“Are you single?” He asked, allowing the words to tumble out before he could second guess them. You blinked once. Twice. You weren’t sure you heard him right.
“Huh?”
“I said um. Uh. Single. Are you?” He seemed to have trouble repeating his phrase. This was likely as embarrassing for him as it was for you and your cheeks felt like they were going to burn your face. Flames licked up to your ears and on the back of your neck as you sat up a little straighter and tried to find the words you were looking for. Anything that could help in this situation as you felt his hand tighten around your wrist hopefully. It sent sparks that led straight to your core as you shook your head.
“I’m uh. Single and ready to mingle.” You laughed at your bad joke, but it was okay because so did he.
“Are you asking…me…out?” You worried you’d be too forward with the assumption. Relief overtook you when he nodded his head in confirmation. You laughed in awe, breathy before nodding in agreement.
“To be fair,” Josh swallowed, as if holding something back, “I’d do…a lot more than just ask you out right now.”
“What do you mean?”
“Can I show you?”
“Uh,” You blushed, “Sure.”
Then he was leaning forward. Then his lips pressed to yours, tender and testing. You felt your shoulders tense as he held your hand rather than your wrist now, entwining your fingers hesitantly as he did so. You took a moment to register just what was happening before deciding this was just part of the luck you had stumbled upon. Closing your eyes, you let yourself lean into the kiss in an attempt to return it with just as much care as he was offering you.
He smiled against your mouth, happy to have you interacting with him, and then deepened his kiss. He made soft little noises in the back of his throat as he tongued at your lips, parting them to taste the back of your teeth with one long, broad sweep. God, his tongue was so broad. So much different and so, so much more filling in your smaller mouth than you thought possible. You moaned, unable to hold it back as your head spun around the room. Josh’s shoulders tensed and he inhaled sharply through his nose as he registered the sound.
When the both of you pulled away, Josh shuddered. He cast his eye swiftly to the doorway and bit his lip. You followed his gaze carefully, watching as he stood up and hopped over to the entrance. With careful, very slow movements, he did his best to lock the door without alerting the security guards on the other side. He gave you another look, a final wonder of confirmation. Did you want this? Was this okay?
You steeled your courage. This would be your one chance. Sitting up to face him a little more, you leaned back on the couch to shyly spread your legs while biting at your lip. You tried to invite him in with your body language. With the smile on your lips as you dug your fingers into the couch with a shaky sigh. That seemed to do it, at least, because you watched Josh’s eyes grow darker with hunger as he licked his lips without giving it much thought.
He covered the distance in just a few striders, impressive and eager. His lips were on you again as he grabbed your hips, maneuvering the both of you so that you were lying down on the couch and he was hovering over you. The position was a little awkward, given the size of the couch in comparison to the spread of Josh’s legs, but Josh could still kiss you. He could still reach out with one hand and run it along your skin, feeling up the bare expanse that your crop top showed off to him. He moaned as he gave your softer side a squeeze.
His hand covered so much of your body. His grip was calloused in comparison to your softer skin. His fists held the sides of your fat firmly, running fingers over the edges and admiring the softness of your body as he let them wander further up. His tongue pried your mouth open again, unabashed now in the way he was licking and searching. You were helpless to do anything but arch into his touches and offer little moans of appreciation for the things he did well.
He listened to you as his hand touched your chest, feeling the material of your underwear beneath his fingers and moaning into your mouth. When he pulled away, his mouth was wet with drool and desperation. His eyes searched yours, thrilled and needy, and you whimpered at the sight. You reached out, finally letting yourself touch him.
Your hands cupped his cheeks, feeling along his jawline. It tensed a little, but relaxed as you stroked under his chin, hand going around his neck to feel his Adam’s apple bob eagerly. Your fingers lowered further to the edge of his tank top, tracing his collarbone before feeling at the material of it curiously. Without a second to spare, Josh sat up and pulled the shirt over his head. Your breath hitched as you realized the sight that was offered before you, and you swore you got even more wet.
“Holy shit.” You spoke, unable to control the words as Josh laughed breathily. You sat up, inching your own crop top off of your body and throwing it alongside his shirt on the floor. Josh wasted no time in taking both of your breasts into his hand, giving them a firm squeeze. When he was satisfied, he rolled the flesh in his hands, thumbs rubbing over your nipples through the fabric of your bra. You gasped and whined, arching into the feeling until he got the hint and reached behind you.
There was a moment of Josh fumbling with your bra strap, biting his lips and concentration. You giggled and put a hand on his chest, asking him quietly to sit up a bit more. He complied, releasing you in favor of letting you sit up enough to undo your bra, letting it slide down to the floor with your shirt. You blushed as Josh stared at you, his eyes wide and his mouth parted to reveal the pink tip of his tongue sticking out. His chest rose and fell, and your own greedy hands couldn’t be stopped.
Your palm rested on one of his pecs, inhaling as you felt the firmness of it. Josh shuddered under your touch, his voice a soft moan of appreciation as you massaged the flesh, letting your fingers brush along his nipple. He shivered at that, so you did the same to the other and now he whimpered. You smiled, delighted at your findings, before letting your hand drop further down, reveling in the way his abdomen rippled under you. He was solid, just like you had imagined. All hard edges and muscles in the best of ways. You let your hands stop right at the edge of his cargo shorts and your eyes focused on the growing tent that rested between his legs in awe.
“Um,” Josh whispered, trying to keep his breathing even as you touched him, “How far do you want to go?”
You hadn’t thought about that, really. Briefly, you considered the situation, looking at the door and then at the man over you. You bit your lip, considering the time. Considering that Tyler might come back. It hurt because, well, you wanted all of him inside of you. You wanted every inch of that man right there and then. Still, he was a guy you had just met, regardless of how many times you’ve seen his abs on your phone. This was still a public place, and you didn’t want to ruin the day of a staff member for having to clean things off of a couch that wasn’t really necessary.
“Um. It’s a little public,” You admitted with a flush, “But…I’d like to um. We could use our mouths for now?”
His cheeks pinkened again, and he nodded with another lick of his lips.
“Yeah. Yeah. Plenty of time, right?” He laughed as if trying to convince himself.
You smiled at him reassuringly, reaching out to touch his cheek again with your hand. He leaned into it, you weren’t sure if it was subconscious or not, though.
“Yeah.” You reassured him gently, “Maybe after the first date.”
This seemed to perk him up. At least enough so that he grabbed the hem of your own loose pants and began to slide them down slowly from your hips. You allowed him to remove them until they were down to your ankles, your shoes preventing any further removal. There was plenty of room to spread your legs, though, especially as Josh moved himself just enough to go for his own buckles. He pulled his pants open, lowering them along with his boxers. This was it, you realized as your mouth pooled with drool, this was definitely your lucky day.
His cock was hard, springing free and slapping against his firm stomach. You had always imagined it on the larger side, but holy shit was it different to see it up close. As it throbbed it leaked, precum beading fervently at the tip. A strand of it dripped from the head, leaking down in a long, thin strand onto his pants below. You moaned despite yourself, hungry for the sight before you.
With both of you pantless, it was Josh who made the first move. His hands grabbed your hips and spread you apart, maneuvering your body until you sat normally on the couch with himself on his knees in front of you. The coffee table had been shoved a few inches back to give him room, but his big hands on either side of your thighs made goosebumps erupt on your shoulders.
He pulled you so close to his face that his nose bumped your soft clit, making you whimper. Your core clenched around nothing as his warm breath hit you, ghosting over your folds. He chuckled, amused by your sensitivity as you moved one hand to wrap itself in his curly hair. Giving you one last smile, Josh dove forward without any other warning. His broad tongue licked a solid stripe up the expanse of your lips, dipping down inside just at the top and flicking his clit with his tongue.
You threw your head back into the soft couch, sinking back into it as you whimpered and cried out at his ministrations. He tested things first, giving you long licks and then short thrusts to see which ones pulled the best sounds from you. He focused on the way your hand twisted in his hair or the way your hips tried to buck against his strong grip. Eventually, his tongue found a rhythm of things that made you keen under his touch. He alternated between thrusting his tongue languidly inside of you before licking up to your clit and sucking gently. The pressure applied by his lips was heaven, and you cried out his name in shock as he scraped his pearly teeth against your sensitive bud. Your hips bucked hard, your hand tightening in his hair as you gasped out his name. You slapped your hand over your mouth immediately, gaze shooting towards the door in panic.
Josh grinned, pleased with the reaction, before continuing on. This time, however, he let one of your hips go. You were a mess by the time he pushed his middle finger inside of your dripping entrance, his tongue lavishing your clit with attention as he curled the finger inside of you. Your legs tensed, toes curling in your shoes as you arched yourself up and pulled his head closer to your entrance on instinct.
“J-Josh!” You felt so honored as you moaned his name. You worshiped its syllables on your tongue. You couldn’t believe that you were able to say it. You felt him add a second finger now, pumping them both in an earnest rhythm as he sucked on your clit once more, drool spilling from his mouth and down against his fingers, where he used it as more lube to move faster inside of you. You babbled at him around your hand as you covered your mouth, hips rolling on his face. He took your face-fucking like a champ, allowing you to hump at his lips like an animal. His nose bumped your clit as he shifted his tongue down to join his fingers, closing his eyes and moaning into you as he did so.
It was all it took. You barely warned him as you cried out, your stomach clenching and your release coating his chin as you came. Your legs shook at either side of his head, your hand clenching down hard on his hair before releasing it with a quiet whimper. He ate you out through your orgasm, tongue licking up whatever cum he could reach and swallowing it down. When he pulled his mouth away from you, his lips were red and his mouth dribbled with drool and your juices. He smiled wide at you as you looked up at him, dazed and awed by his ability.
“That was…wow.” You gasped, dazed. Josh nuzzled into your neck in response, kissing it. You felt the wetness of your cum stick to your skin, unpleasant but nothing you cared about as you bumped your nose into the side of his head and sighed with a smile, “Thank you.”
“Anytime,” He murmured back, “You sounded hot.”
You blushed, swallowing as you pulled away from him. The hardness of his own cock was not unknown to you. You looked down between his legs, seeing it even more flushed than it was earlier. He must have been desperate, and you couldn’t help but pity him as you looked up into his eyes. With a reddening face, you leaned forward and wrapped your hand carefully around his cock. Josh gasped at the touch, and it devolved into a moan.
It throbbed the second you put your fingers around it. His cock was so thick you almost couldn’t get your fingertips around the whole thing. The thought of it stretching you out one day made your core throb and your mouth water. You looked up at him through wet lashes, waiting for his permission as you gave it one slow stroke, memorizing the texture of its velvety skin against your palm. Josh threw his head back and sighed, appreciative of the touch, before looking back with concern.
“You don’t have to do this if you’re too tired.” He offered gently.
“Get on the couch, please.” You whispered in reply, eyes pleading and full of lust.
You didn’t have to tell Josh again. Soon you were on your knees in front of him as he spread his legs out, cock hanging between them as he looked down at you from his seat in awe. You bit your lip as you came face to face with his cock. The scent was musky and hot. As you touched the tip of it curiously, the tacky precum followed your finger. It created a single web of wetness that stretched from his dick to your finger, making you inhale sharply. A hand reached into your hair, grabbing at your skull and waiting patiently for you to continue. “We don’t have a lot of time left, I think,” Josh warned with a murmur, “But I’m not sure I’ll last long, either.”
You nodded, willing to say anything as long as it mean you could suck him off. Leaning forward, you wrapped your hand around the base of his dick and squeezed. It earned you a breathy, wonderful groan that tugged you just a little forward, hand tightening. You heard Josh inhale as you parted your lips to take in the head of his cock, tongue laving over the tip and dipping into the slit to taste the precum leaking. The action made him throb under you, his hips canting but still doing their best to be mindful of you. It was sweet, and you couldn’t help but smile as you put the whole tip of his cock inside of your mouth and sucked.
“Fuck, Y/N.” Josh gasped in awe, watching you suckle at his cock through hazy lashes. You moved your hand up and down his shaft for a few seconds, simply getting yourself used to the velvety texture and scent of musk. A tug from his hand reminded you there was little time, however, so you took a breath. You hadn’t done this before, at least not on a real cock, so your nerves practically shook your legs as you lowered your head down just a bit further.
He wasn’t terribly long, an average at best, but god was he thick. His girth stretched your lips wide, making your jaw ache as you sucked around him. You weren’t able to keep the drool hidden between your lips, having no choice but to let it dribble down his cock. You tried to gather what you could, using it as lube to jack off what your mouth couldn’t fit down on.
You were rewarded with another curse. His hips didn’t control themselves now as he pushed them up, shoving his cock into your mouth needily. You choked a bit, surprised by the thrust, and he pulled away with wide eyes. A flush burned his cheeks as he let you cough and gasp, spit dribbling from your mouth as he rubbed at your head with one hand.
“I’m so sorry,” Josh apologized through lusty gasps, “It’s, um, been a bit, and - I just - fuck you feel so good.”
You blushed, “I…kind of liked it?”
Josh grinned at the admittance, “I can do it again.”
He sounded so eager it was almost as if he was thinking about it. So you nodded and took a breath to steady yourself. When you lowered your head back down and took his dick in your lips this time, you dragged yourself down as far as he had when he thrust up, pushing further still and ignoring the painful burn in your throat as your lungs ached. You breathed a few times through your nose as you swallowed around him.
Moans and babbles echoed over you as Josh’s hand grabbed your head and pushed down, his hips rolling up. You let him this time, holding his thighs with a grip so tight you were sure to leave little nail marks in them for the show. The thought excited you, and you moaned around his cock. This spurred him to push your head down further, rolling his hips into your mouth until your nose touched the happy trail of rough hairs at the base of his dick. Your eyes rolled in the back of your head as your mind went fuzzy. Nothing but Josh’s dick mattered anymore, and the moans he made were angelic. Even more than when he sang. You wanted to hear all of them. You wanted to make him feel good, he deserved it.
“Y/N. I-I’m gonna-” Josh tried to breathily warn you, his hand letting up just in case you wanted to pull off of him before he let go. You thought for only a moment, considering what an embarrassment it might be if Tyler saw the dried cum of his bandmate on the couch. Something in you didn’t want a single drop to go to waste. It redoubled your courage as you pulled back a bit to suckle on the tip, letting it slide in and out languidly against your tongue as your hand jacked off the rest of his cock.
It throbbed as he whined. When you licked the underside of his cock head and suckled the tip gently, he lost it. With his head thrown back and his back arched, Josh came with a low grumble. His seed filled your mouth as you drank it from the tip, letting your hand slow down as you milked him of his orgasm. When he slumped back, sweaty and breathy, you pulled off of him with a ‘pop’ and licked your lips, sure to gather any other drool that leaked from you back in. You looked up at Josh, unsure of what to expect.
He smiled down at you, reaching out to stroke your head gently this time with a laugh.
“That was…wow.” He repeated your same words, making you blush as you looked away from him.
The two of you followed up by putting your pants back on and wiping your sweaty foreheads off with nearby towels on the vanity. Josh pulled out two waters from a nearby mini fridge and handed one to you, sitting at your side as the both of you sipped and recovered. You curled yourself into the seat at his side, thinking about the situation. Was he kidding about taking you out? Did he just want to fuck and then leave you like some groupie? You bit your lip to hide your disappointment, but it faltered when you felt a hand wrap around your shoulder and pull. It brought you into a warm side and a nose that nuzzled your head with affection.
“Is this okay?” Josh asked. You nodded gently, unable to speak through your thoughts.
“If you’d like to,” Josh cleared his throat, “We have a day off tomorrow and we plan on spending it in the city before driving up later in the night. We could spend time together then?”
Your eyes lit up in surprise, “You want to?”
“Of course,” Josh smiled, almost embarrassed, “I asked you out, didn’t I?”
So he was serious. The thought made your heart soar. A smile broke on your lips and you were too scared to imagine how red your cheeks must have been as you gave him a nod of confirmation, “There’s a really good southern breakfast place downtown um…Want to have something there first?”
“Sounds great,” Josh rummaged at the coffee table, “Here, put your number in my phone?”
You did, just in time for a loud bang at the door. The both of you were startled, and behind you heard the muffled voice of Tyler, almost amused, call out:
“Can you two get dressed and let me in already? Sound checks in fifteen, Josh!”
You hid your face with a yelp, embarrassed to be caught. Josh laughed, blushing but otherwise didn’t seem too bothered by it. He returned his bandmate's call with a ‘one second’ of his own as he stood up. Looking down at you one more time, he offered you his hand. You took it and stood as well, but not before he asked you:
“Do you want to stay backstage for the show? You can watch from the side, it’ll give you a great view.”
You looked up at the man, so kind and smiling and warm at your face, and your heart fluttered in your chest. You gave a nod of confirmation as you gave up containing the excited smile wanting to spread across your lips.
“I’d love to.”

WHEN YOU WERE younger, you always thought the concept of a mid-life crisis was stupid. you thought you'd have your life under control. but, right now, that clearly wasn't the case.
ever since covid came, things had been harder. that's clearly not a shocker. for starters, there was the obvious flaw of not being able to go out and do things. being cooped up in the house was nice for a day or two, but eventually, being stuck inside made it harder to work on stuff.
before this had even started, you, your fiancée, josh, and your best friend, tyler, had begun work on a new album. but, now that you couldn't meet in your studio, things had been harder. a lot harder.
and finally, to top it all off, your grandma was in the hospital. it wasn't for having the virus, thank god, but rather a hip injury. however, you were scared to death she'd somehow contract it and she'd get worse than she already was.
all of this together, and what do you get? you'd figured a mid-life crisis.
all through this, josh was just trying to help. when this all first started, at the start of the pandemic, he was relatively good at fighting the fire that was you and calming things down. for example, there was a time just when covid started.
you were lying in bed, scrolling through your phone alongside josh. you were resting your head on his shoulder, completely content. his hand was rubbing your back as you sleepily scrolled through your instagram feed. until you got an email.
your eyebrows furrowed as you saw it came from mark. you clicked on it and the words you read stunned you.
"hey,
we can't work in the studio tomorrow or the rest of the week. covid protocols. sorry."
it was so short, yet so concerning. well, what were you gonna do? you turned and looked up at josh. "you get this email?" he shook his head as you showed him. "we can't just not record."
"it'll pass. it's okay," he tried to reassure you. "we'll probably get cleared to work there by the end of the week." you looked up at him meekly.
"you sure?"
"almost certain." he smiled and kissed the top of your head. "you always get so worried."
turns out, you were getting worried for good reason. at the end of the week, you contacted mark, asking if you were able to record in the studio. he said no and to wait another week.
that week turned into two, which turned into three, then finally a month before anything happened. a month of sitting around stressed you out like nothing.
constantly, you were caught bouncing your leg or pacing around the house for no particular reason. but, every time josh caught you doing that, he would calm you down. put a hand over your shaking leg, offer you guys to go on a walk. it was all you could really do with your current situation, but it worked.
but, when you got news of your grandma being admitted to the hospital, all hell broke loose in your mind. you had fond memories of her as a kid: baking pumpkin pie together during thanksgiving, coloring together, swinging in the tire swing in her backyard that was up just for you and your siblings. you refused to believe it might be possible that woman would be gone.
the second your mother told you, you immediately drove out to the hospital. josh was out getting groceries, but your mind was in such a frantic state, you didn't even think to call.
the drive there was a blur for you. eventually, you arrived at the hospital. after a check-in with your parents to confirm nothing bad was happening yet, you calmed down a bit. but, you still worried, as you weren't allowed to be in the room for too long.
you were the for a few hours before you decided to leave. as you checked your phone, there were at least four missed calls from josh. shit.
when you got home, you thought you'd calmed yourself down. but, when josh confronted you asking what happened, it was clear you didn't.
you walked into the door, the sound of your keys jingling as you pulled them out of the lock. you threw your purse onto a table in the mudroom and leaned against the wall for a second. "baby?" you heard a voice call out from further inside the house, followed by the sound of footsteps and paws coming towards you.
you looked up and saw your fiancee and your dog, jim, heading towards you. jim's face was so happy to see you as he ran through the hall that you almost forgot of your burdens for a second.
you crouched down to pet jim. "hi, sweet boy," you cooed as you petted him. he started to jump on you before josh stopped him. "jim, down!" he whined, but followed the order. he was a relatively well-trained dog, but he just was happy to see you.
you sighed as you started to stand back up. "where were you? are you okay?" josh rapid fired as you stood your ground.
and suddenly, the dam broke. “ya, i…i’m fine. it’s just-” you couldn’t bring yourself to say it. the words physically couldn’t escape your throat. tears started to well and your eyes.
“hey, hey, hey, it’s okay, it’s okay.” josh immediately ran to your side, engulfing you in a tight hug. you shakily inhaled and hugged him back. “you don’t gotta tell me if you don’t wanna.” his arms are warm as you stayed in that position for at least a couple minutes.
suddenly, jim started to jump at you both. you laughed as you both pulled away to look at him. “damn dog.”
you thought you’d get over it. in theory, it was easy, as your mom was constantly in the hospital, sending updates. and honestly, your grandma was doing just fine.
still though, there was something eating away at you; the thought she was in a prime spot to contract the virus.
you just didn’t want her gone.
also, deadlines for the band weren’t being met. again, it was reasonable; you guys couldn’t meet up in person, so almost all of this had to be on call. that was a major shift for the three of you, compared to meeting in studios, so it was no wonder not much work was getting done.
but, it was stressing you out like nothing. you had no schedule, no plan, no work, nothing to ground you.
about a month after your grandma was admitted was when it started to get bad.
you started losing yourself in a way. you found yourself checking your phone every few seconds for something to reassure or stimulate you, tugging at your hair, laying on the floor and just staring at the ceiling.
but, most importantly, you were ignoring your fiancée, josh.
he tried to reach out immediately when this started, being the kind person he is. but, you denied him, saying you were fine and it would pass.
clearly, it didn’t. as it got worse, he kept on trying to get you to calm down, but still, you shut him down.
you didn’t accept his help until that day.
you woke up in a bad mood that day. scratch that, horrible. you woke up with a pit in your stomach leading to god knows where and it felt like the size of jupiter.
immediately, when you went to get your morning coffee, you could feel it growing worse. josh was doing laundry in the basement, so he couldn't see how you were doing. jim, however, was upstairs, and when he heard you walk down, he scurried to you. even having his warm fur brush against you, you felt worried. his touch made you feel almost overstimulated.
before josh came up, you decided to go to the store then make breakfast to try and distract yourself.
the drive there and grabbing everything made you even more worn out. the bright lights of the store bugged your eyes, and for whatever reason, your ears couldn't stop ringing.
but, you pushed through until you got home, trying to ignore the feeling in you that you should rest. josh, at this point, was in the living room. when he saw you come home, he almost immediately knew something was wrong. but, you shrugged him off.
as you laid out the ingredients on the counter, josh snaked up behind you. "i can make you breakfast," he insisted.
"it's fine," you replied. sharp. insistent.
"are you sure? you seem...jittery."
"i'm sure." your tone was firm. you pulled out a cutting board to start chopping fruit. as you started to cut, josh couldn't help but notice the slight wobble in your hands.
"darling, seriously, i don't really trust you with a knife right now." you ignored him, continuing to cut. "you need to tell me if something's going on." no response. only the sound of the knife against the cutting board.
"i'll be fine," you snapped, setting the knife down. you stayed looking away from josh.
"i know you. you're not fine. you need to tell me what's happening." you started to walk to the cabinet, grabbing a bowl.
"nothing's happen-" you started to yell, when all of a sudden, you lost grip on the bowl, causing it to fall on the counter. you froze. "shit." you mumbled over and over again. "shit, shit, shit..." without you thinking, you tried to grab a shard when it cut your hand. you winced and pulled your hand away.
"woah, baby, hey, it's okay." josh quickly held you from behind. "let's get you to the bathroom, okay?" he rambled. "come on, let's go, let's go, it's okay, you're fine."
you didn't know why, but suddenly, you felt stiff. like a bomb about to set off. josh set you up on the counter of the sink in the guest bathroom as he grabbed a first aid kit. he was gentle as he cleaned your cut, knowing it would hurt. and it did. the sting honestly brought you back.
as he bandaged your cut, you felt tears coming out. "fuck, i'm so sorry." you wiped your eyes.
"it's okay."
"no, it's not. i acted like a bitch all of today and now i'm here hurt and you're patching me up. that shouldn't be how it is." as he stuck the final bit of the bandage down, he looked up at you.
"hey. look at me." you looked in his eyes. "it's okay. i'm not mad at you. you had a reason for feeling that way. i'm not dismissing that. all i ask is next time, you just tell me, okay? cause i don't want you getting hurt cause you didn't tell me about something."
you sniffled and nodded. "thank you." he smiled and grabbed your chin, pulling your face in to kiss you.
"of course. come on, i'll make you breakfast."

The Basement
Josh Dun x Reader
Summary: your brother lets twenty one pilots sleep in his basement and he didn’t tell you.
This is my first fic! Requests are open :)
Tumblr media
“Before we play this last song can we sleep in somebody’s basement tonight?” Tyler asked the small crowd.
The question that started it all.
At the show of two upcoming musicians in your hometown this particular question inspired your brother to raise his hand high and proud to allow his favorite band sleep in his basement for the night.
“Thanks man. Let’s give it up for the kind gentleman in the crowd” Tyler joked receiving laughs from the crowd.
That night you were asleep while your brother was letting the boys in the house. Your parents were out on vacation and left the two of you alone for the weekend, trusting you wouldn’t trash the house.
While you were deep asleep, your brother was letting the two boys inside. He was excited to have his favorite band so close to him.
They ended up starting a conversation that went on for hours, but the fact that you also lived in the house never came up. Your brother was hypnotized by talking with the boys that got him through so many rough time.
So it was surprising to see the tall curly haired man looking inside your fridge the next morning. You grabbed the frying pan you were going to use to cook your breakfast on and held it with both hands in case you needed to defend yourself. You looked outside, a black van parked in your driveway along with your brothers car.
Did someone break in?
Josh was just thirsty and he took your brothers words to feel at home to heart.
“Uhh should I be worried?” You said in concern after snatching the frying pan resting on your kitchen counter. You were terrified of this stranger in your kitchen, looking into your fridge. “JACK!” You yelled out for your brother.
Josh flinched, he shouldn’t have gotten out of the basement. Instantly, he regretted not waiting for Tyler to wake up. But he needed something to drink, he wasn’t excepting to see you.
You held onto the frying pan handle tighter, getting ready to swing at the stranger, but when he turned around you nearly dropped it.
Josh closed the fridge and turned around to look at you. He was embarrassed, he shouldn’t have opened the fridge without asking to begin with.
“This is a misunderstanding please don’t scream. I’m sorry.” Josh said, trying to calm you down. He walked towards you slowly to not startle you any more. “Hi, I’m Josh. Your brother let my bandmate and I sleep in his basement for the night. I know that sounds terrible. Jack didn’t tell us there was someone else living here I’m sorry it was out of line of me to come upstairs to get water from your fridge. This looks wrong we can leave right now” Josh explained. It sort of made sense, Jack had friends over all the time but he always let you know.
“Bandmate? Who are you?“ You set the frying pan on the stove, understanding the situation. Part of you believed the story from the handsome stranger.
“Josh I’m the drummer of twenty one pilots” Josh said with a friendly smile.
The name of the band sounded familiar. Your brother had been obsessed with the band for years, he always tried to get you into them but it never worked. You only heard a few songs and you didn’t care to see who the band members were.
“That’s the show he went to last night..” you said to yourself and Josh nodded. “Jack needs to stop acting like he owns this house” you said with disappointment of your older brother’s actions. “Hi, I’m y/n I’m jacks sister” You said, extending your hand to shake.
Even though you were wearing your sleeping robe and had mismatch fuzzy socks and you haven’t tamed your bed head yet, Josh saw something cozy in you. At the moment you were shaking hands, he finally took the time to really look at you.
His soft smile and crinkled eyes made you feel like as if you were dreaming at that moment. You weren’t used to seeing attractive strangers at 8 in the morning raiding your fridge. Josh had an angelic presence that was out of place inside your house.
“Those are so sick” Your eyes landed on the colorful tattoos adorning his arm. It wasn’t just ink on his arm, each tattoo had a life of its own. Tattoos have always been interesting to you, even though you had never thought about getting ones. Needles are scary. After shaking hands you dropped his hand and ran your index along one tattoo on his arm. “Oh sorry” you flinched with a nervous smile.
“You’re fine. Thank you” He just smiled and shook his head.
“Are you hungry? I was about to make breakfast” You said turning on the stove, and opening the cabinet to take out the cooking oil.
“I would love that thank you” Josh nodded. “Can I help you?”
“No need. You can sit and tell me more about your band or tattoos either one” You suggested pointing at the chair of your kitchen island. “How do you like your eggs?” You asked taking out the eggs in your fridge with a bottle of water. “Here”
Josh smiled opening the bottle of water. “Scrambled please” He replied.
You made yourself and Josh breakfast that morning, while you listened to him talk about the band and his tattoos. He was very passionate about what he did which made his stories so interesting to listen to. Josh was also a good storyteller and pretty to look at.
You were both sitting on the dining table of your kitchen. Your plate of scrambled eggs with hash browns were untouched because all you could focus on was Josh’s amazing stories. Resting your head on your palm, you were looking at him wide eyed, enjoying every second of it. You were learning so much about him and you just wanted to find out more.
It was going so well until you were interrupted by your brother.
“Gross” Your brother nearly gagged.

college tings
[tyler joseph x reader]
y/n was never the type of girl that would skip class. not saying that she likes school or wants to stay in school, no, she hates school’s stinkin’ guts. its just there’s a consequence, i mean, there’s always consequences. she never ever gets in trouble, and she’s practically an angel at school. no one wants to be noticed by the whole school. that’s pretty embarrassing.
but sometimes y/n needs to get away from this boy..... a boy who has always been in her high school and just happened to be at the same college as her.(like.. just great!) a boy highly annoys her; but does it on purpose. a boy that drives her crazy, but she just can’t get him off her mind. a boy that she thinks she hates, but her stupid hormones won’t let her decide whether she likes him or not.
either way he wouldn’t like her anyways, he’s probably just trying to tease her, or play with her feelings like most boys do. but he really does it just because he knows she likes him secretly.
well, anyways, this day was a great day to just stay out of his presence, or just stay out of having to talk to him. it’s kinda hard to find words to say when those brown eyes are staring into yours, and that angelic voice that comes out of his mouth. it’s just too overwhelming for her!
all this to say, yes she skipped the only class she had with him. she went to the mall with her friend brooke. that’s a great way to escape tyler.
so yeah. they were walking through the mall and found a place to sit. brooke had a hunch that she just needed to ask her.
“hey y/n?” brooke asked. “what?”
she smirked. “do you like tyler?”
y/n’s eyes widened. “what?!” she whisper shouted. “i said, do you like tyler. you know? that cute guy who hangs out with that other hot dude that dyes his hair?” is it that obvious? i hate talking to him. she thought. “uhm n-no... what makes you think that?” “ i had a hunch. and i always see you talking to him.”
her face crinkled up in disgust. “oh god no! he’s the one that talks to me! he always teases me and makes me want to die.” she said, but obviously the last one was a lie. he doesn’t make her want to die, come to think of it, y/n literally craves his voice everyday. she won’t know what to do if he leaves or if he’s not around. she just won’t admit it.
“oh is that so? usually a guy who teases a girl likes her. he just tries to find another way to flatter her...by not flattering her. y’know what i mean?”
“uh...no. i don’t know what you mean.”
brooke stopped. “you seriously don’t know what i’m talking about? a lot of boys do that. i swear there’s got to be some sexual tension between you two.”
she shook her head. “no. i don’t think so. there’s many other women for someone like him to be fond of. and it’s never gonna be me. that’s something obvious to point out.”
“okay... just don’t come screaming to me if y’all end up making out or something...”
“oh god that’s a bad visual, brooke” she said really embarrassed. and yes, that was another lie. “yeah right that’s a bad visual! i bet you’re always imagining that when he’s ‘annoying’ you.” she pointed out.
“pshhh the only thing i want to do is get away from him and have nothing to do with him.”
brooke stopped dead in her tracks as if she were thinking really hard.
“wait... what classes do you have with him?” she asked. “uh this class period. why?”
“OHHH I GET WHY YOU DECIDED TO SKIP CLASS WITH ME!!! YOU WANTED TO GET AWAY FROM HIM AND THIS WAS THE ONLY WAY!! wow i should’ve known. you know you can always tell me if you need help with a guy.”
“no no i don’t need help with guys. i still don’t know how you’re getting these ideas, they’re ridiculous.” she exclaimed.
“hey. y’know what i think is ridiculous? you denying all this. i know you think he’s hot. i see your conversations. the way your face looks. sure you want to get away, and oh! i know why, it’s that you don’t want him to see you blush or whatever. you definitely have feelings for ty-”
“DANG Y/N! are you skipping class too?” they hear someone shout from behind. lo and behold there’s a grinning tyler with his friend josh. and oh Lord he’s coming.
y/n’s heart rate went up like ten times faster. “uh oh. uh.... uh brooke can you.. cAN YOU HIDE ME!?”
brooke smirked at her and started walking backwards slowly towards josh’s direction.
“sorry y/n. you’ll have to figure this one out on your own. i got dibs on someone else.”
y/n scoffed and rolled her eyes. “great.” she muttered.
tyler was still coming. he looked so excited to see her. y/n yelped and headed for the nearest outlet store. it just so happened to be a forever 21. “y/n wait!” tyler’s voice was faint from a distance, but she was too busy to hear him. she rushed to the back of the store where she most likely wouldn’t be found.
there was a gasp heard from probably one of her other friends. “y/n?! what are you doing here?! and why are you in such a big hurry?” y/n turned around to see her friend bailey with her arms full of clothes to try on.
“uhmm.... do you have a minute?” y/n asked. “yeah, yeah sure.”
they went into the dressing room to so she could spill everything. it wasn’t really a big deal, though.
“uh so you know tyler?”
bailey started giggling. “yea.”
“well um— you see- he really annoys me and tries to talk to me a lot just to tease me about things. i wanted to get away from him because this is the only class i have with him. so i’m here and skipping class with brooke. but then he just shows up out of no where with josh! and he’s trying to get to me. and then brooke just runs away with josh, and i had nowhere else to go but here to escape! so i ended up here.”
“oh y/n. it looks like you have a crush on someone. you’re trying to avoid him aren’t you?” she asked.
y/n groaned in frustration “no i don’t have a crush on him. and no i’m not trying to avoid him. and how do you know i like him?”
bailey shook her head. “it’s so obvious that you like him! stop denying your emotions, cause deep down, you know you like him. just cut the bs already!”
“that’s exactly what i was thinking!!” y/n said.
she shrugged “anyways, don’t we need to get you some clothes so you’ll stand out to him more? ‘cause this place has really cute clothes. and i bet if we get something like a crop top, you’ll be irresistible to him.”
“what?! why are so many people trying to set me up with him?” y/n whisper shouted as her face reddened.
“because you said so yourself. you like him.” bailey said, then saw tyler enter the outlet. “i’m gonna go use the restroom.” she pointed to the restroom and walked off.
now y/n was left all alone with no one to talk to. oh wait- never mind. all except one.
she felt a pair of arms snake around her waist. “hey. i didn’t know you like forever 21. anyways, why’d you run away from me?” tyler whispered in her ear, which sent shivers down her spine. y/n turned out of his grip, and pushed him away.
the thing is, he had never touched her before, and he never used his voice like that on her either. so that totally surprised and scared the heck out of her at the same time. so she looked at his eyes. they weren’t full of what they usually were, no, they were filled with confusion and concern. she started to take a few steps back, but he grabbed her hand. “what’s the matter? you can talk to me, you know. i won’t hurt you.”
she glared up at him.
“i know you won’t hurt me. but you will annoy me. in all honesty that’s literally the only thing you do to me. like, seriously! what can you possibly gain when you talk to me?”
she didn’t really mean that. it’s just what she thought she believed. and it’s not true either.
“what will i gain? well obviously to get you to like me! to actually smile when i show up, or something. i didn’t know you hated me, i’m sorry.” he apologized.
then it hit her. tyler may like me back? her attitude softened as she realized he was just trying to.... be nice? all along? it didn’t seem like that, though.
she sighed.
“no need to apologize. i don’t hate you. i actually feel the opposite. i-i just thought it was annoying how you always made me blush and feel really warm and..” you sighed. “and it just made me want to die! because i knew you would never feel the same. but here i am, telling you all this because maybe i think i lik-“ she got cut off by a pair of soft lips being attached to hers.
sadly, the kiss only lasted for a few seconds before he pulled away to see y/n’s face full of shock.
she tried to say something but stuttered “u-uh”
“yeah. i’ll see you later y/n.” tyler said with a wink.
y/n stood there in shock of what just happened.
~the end~
a/n~do y’all want a part two? pls comment if you want one :))

Overreaction (Josh Dun x reader)
Summary: Arguments over the littlest of things happen to everyone. It’s how you handle them that matters. In the early days of twenty one pilots, when their future isn’t guaranteed, Josh finds that he isn’t particularly good at handling stress...
Word count: 1794
Warnings: Josh is kind of an ass here, but definitely more in an ‘I’m stressed and don’t know how to cope’ way than an ‘I’m an actual prick’ way. You get me?
The house was quiet when he woke up. The sort of quiet that sat coldly in his bones and left a weight in his stomach, filling the air in every room and leaving everything feeling grey and still. His heart sank further as he stuck his head into the guest bedroom and saw the bed neatly made, the top of the dresser empty.
They hadn’t come back.
His mind was filled with images of the evening before as guilt washed over him.
“Josh, please, can you just lay off the drumming for half an hour? I just wanna get this last section done.” (y/n) dug their fingers into their temples, frowning over the essay they were trying to finish. When he’d suggested that they spend the afternoon at his flat so they could both finish the work they needed to do and then spend the weekend hanging out, they’d jumped to say yes. But while it had been a good idea at the time, things hadn’t gone quite to plan.
Josh had been working on some ideas for the music video he and Tyler were meant to be shooting in a week’s time while (y/n) was working on finishing an assignment that was due on the Monday. It was frustratingly difficult work, and at first their boyfriend’s presence was a relaxing one.
The two of them were sat on opposite sides of the breakfast bar, laptops and papers spread out in an inelegant tangle as they worked. The kitchen smelled of fresh coffee and a soft instrumental playlist was on in the background. For a couple of hours, the atmosphere was incredibly peaceful. But then, Josh finished his work. And he got bored. He tidied up his laptop and notebooks to kill a little time, but soon found that he needed more to do.
Thinking back to the discussion he’d had with Tyler over some new ideas for songs, he decided to sit down at his practice pad for a little while and get some rhythms out of his head, see if any of them fit the beautiful words that his bandmate had put together. He slipped his headphones on and plugged them in, relaxing as he wrapped his hands around the drum sticks and got ready to play.
Engrossed in reading the resources they’d found, (y/n) jumped as he started tapping away, their concentration shattered. At first they tried to just ignore it and carry on, but the repetitive beats that only got louder and more complex made it impossible to keep their mind on the words they needed to write.
And so, they had politely asked him to stop.
Josh had barely glanced back at them, tapping his feet in time with the thoughts running through his brain. “I’m just tryna get this idea down so it matches the stuff from Tyler.”
“Yeah, but can it wait? Is there some other way you can think about it that isn’t so... loud? I’m still working.”
He sighed. “Babe, this is part of my work. So I’m still working too.”
“I get that, I do. It just doesn’t make it very easy to think about the history of genetics, you know?” They’d laughed slightly, trying to lighten the mood a little. But a dark cloud had descended over the room, and Josh’s continued frown made their smile fade.
“Look, this is important.”
“I never said it wasn’t.” Now they were frowning too. “I just asked-”
“I’m trying to make this whole band thing work, okay? And maybe you don’t think that takes as much effort as a fancy college degree, but it’s damn hard.”
(y/n) felt like a deer in the headlights, taken aback by the sharpness of his response. “Hey, I know how hard you guys are working on this, and I know how much it matters to you. All I’m asking for is half an hour of quiet so I can get this done. And then I’ll sit and listen, okay? Maybe I can try and help you go through some of the ideas you’ve got.”
He sniffed, shaking his head. “Yeah, like you actually care. All you can think about is yourself.”
Their jaw dropped as he turned back to the kit, hitting the pads even harder now that he had some anger to get out of his system. “Josh, I-”
“No, it’s fine! It’s fine that you’re more worried about one stupid essay - one essay that won’t even affect your perfect GPA anyway - than you are about me being happy with my career. Nice to know. Really.”
He’d never snapped at them before. Tears prickled hotly at the corners of their eyes. Silently, they gathered their things and packed them into their bag, dipping into the guest room briefly to get what little else they’d brought. Then two doors slammed, one shortly after another.
It took almost an hour for Josh to notice what had happened in the aftermath of the argument. Finally satisfied, he put his sticks down - and turned to face an empty room. That’s when he realised that (y/n) had grabbed what little they had brought round to his place and left.
Groaning at his own idiocy, Josh found himself getting anxious. Last night he’d assumed they’d just gone home, but what if something had happened to them while they were out? What if they were in a hospital, or being held hostage by someone, or... no, he couldn’t think like that. He sighed, chewed at his lip, and made the decision to phone them. It was obviously better to apologise in person, but somehow he doubted that showing up at their apartment unannounced would be welcomed. Besides, just hearing their voice for the moment would be enough to assuage his growing intrusive thoughts. The phone rang through a couple of times before abruptly cutting off. Nothing. But with the short ring period, he knew it wasn’t because their phone was broken or switched off. They’d declined the call.
Pacing back and forth across his living room, Josh rang Tyler instead. Thankfully, his best friend answered straight away.
“Yeah?”
“Ty, I screwed up.”
“Oh, I know.”
He stopped walking for a moment, frowning. “Wait, what?”
He could hear Tyler close a door before answering. “(y/n) came here last night. And dude I’ve gotta tell you, I haven’t seen them that upset in a long time.”
Josh felt his heart sink. “What did they say?”
“That you made them feel like you didn’t want them there. That you told them they didn’t care about you, which a blind man could see is total rubbish.” His friend sounded angry, and he was definitely starting to feel that it was justified. “They said that it was you who didn’t seem to care about them. That you didn’t think about the fact this essay is due Monday and they’ve got a midterm on Wednesday, even though they’d told you all about how worried they were when they got to yours. Dude. You were a real jerk.”
He let his head drop against the wall with a soft thud, feeling well and truly like an idiot. “I don’t even know why I said all that stuff. I feel terrible.”
“Yeah, you should. I had to come and pick them up because it was getting dark and they were crying too much to keep walking home.”
He felt his heart sink painfully. “I... I made them cry?”
Hearing the crack in Josh’s voice, Tyler sighed. “Look man, just get over here. You’re both a bit calmer now, and you can talk things over. You can apologise.”
“I- Yeah, okay, that’s a good idea. I’ll be there soon. Thanks man.”
Burying their hands in the hoodie’s sleeves, (y/n) chewed at the dry skin on their lips until Tyler nudged them in the side.
“Hey, knock that off. You’ll make them sore.”
“Are you sure he’s not still mad at me?”
Tyler pulled them in for a hug, rubbing their back soothingly. “Hey, I know he isn’t. You know, I don’t think he was ever really mad at you in the first place. Just real stressed. And that’s not me trying to excuse what he said to you, because it was totally out of line. I just don’t think he’s capable of being mad at you.”
A knock on the door interrupted them, and he let them go so he could go and answer it. When Josh set eyes on them, red around the eyes and pale with lack of sleep, he burst towards them and took their hands in his, babbling almost frantically.
“Shit, (y/n) I- I’m so, so sorry. I have no idea why I said the things I did - I shouldn’t have, no way. None of those things were true. I think I - everything lately has been so hard, so uncertain - I just want us to do well, and... your degree is so stable and nothing I do is guaranteed and that... I don’t know, maybe it - I don’t even know!”
He was practically tearing his hair out at this point, and (y/n) stopped him with a hand on his cheek. “Hey, slow down. One thing at a time. Were you really mad at me yesterday?”
“No, of course not. I think I... I was just worried about a lot of things and you happened to say something at the wrong time.”
“So you... you don’t really think that I don’t care about you?”
He could see them welling up again, and opened his arms for a hug the same way he always did - never pulling them in first, always checking that they were okay with the contact before doing so. They leant into him, tucking their chin on his shoulder as he held them as tightly as he dared.
“No. I think that’s the worst thing I said to you, and I don’t even know where it came from. I just - I am so sorry, babe. I hate that I treated you like that.”
“Thank you for apologising. And, I forgive you.” They pressed a soft kiss to his lips, hands resting against his chest as his moved to their waist.
When they pulled back he barely gave them a second to breathe before kissing them again with a little more force, his tongue dancing at the seam of their mouth.
“Oh, gross. I leave you two alone for five minutes and this is what happens.”
They pulled apart, both giggling a little at the look of mock disgust on Tyler’s face. Beneath it, the relief was clearly visible.
“Sorry man.”
“Yeah, whatever, I’m just glad you two are okay now. Next time, get a room that isn’t my kitchen, deal?”
“Deal.”

Josh'll Steal Your Girl
Summary: You go see Josh play for the first time, and bring a date with you. Josh is not impressed.  Pairing: Josh x Reader (Maybe?) Word Count: 755 Warnings: Took some dramatic license with their setlist, for fic purposes. Author's Note: Reposted from my old blog.
Tumblr media
You left your date in the dust as you ran up to Josh, throwing your arms around his neck. You squealed with excitement; it was the first time you got too see him play with the new band he had joined and raved about.
“Y/N! Look who has re-entered the land of the living,” Josh teased, hugging you back tightly, only eyeing your date for a moment before turning his attention back to you. “How’d finals go?”
You shrugged. “I passed. Anyway, that’s not important right now. What’s important is that I finally get to you play with this band you’ve been raving about. Can I meet the other guy?”
“Mmm, don’t think so. Can’t have you falling in love with him.”
You slid a hand to the back of his neck, pulling his forehead against yours. “As if I could love anyone as much as I love you.”
Your date cleared his throat, pulling you and Josh out of the moment. You stumbled over your words, realizing that a second date with someone was not the best opportunity to be playing the secret lovers game with your best friend. Josh came to your rescue, reaching out to shake hands with your date.
“Josh Dun,” he introduced himself. “Sorry about that. We’ve known each other for a long time.”
“So she said,” your date returned, giving his own name. “Guess we should get into the crowd, get a good spot so she can see you play.”
Josh hugged one arm around your shoulders and kissed your temple, his eyes on your date the whole time. You rolled your eyes at his confident show, took your date by the hand, and dragged him into the crowd of people gathering to watch the band play.
The show was amazing. The fact that there was only two of them and the level of energy was still so high was beyond anything you could fathom. Your heart swelled with pride for your best friend, and your poor date was, once again, left in the dust.
When the lead singer, whose name you were pretty sure Josh had said was Tyler, announced they would be doing a cover, you clapped and cheered with the rest of the crowd. When their take on Jet’s Are You Gonna Be My Girl started, you cheered louder and danced to the music.
I could see You home with me But you were with another man, yeah! I know we Ain’t got much to say Before I let you get away, yeah! Uh, be my girl Be my girl Are you gonna be my girl? Yeah
There was no missing that Josh was looking right at you as he mouthed along with the words of the last chorus, and on the last Are you gonna be my girl?, he pointed one drumstick in your direction. Immediately, your date put his arm around your shoulders.
Your jaw was dropping open. Sure, there was the secret lovers game you and Josh played all the time, when it wasn’t weird, but you had never thought of it — yes, you had. Several times, actually, you had thought about that “game” becoming the real thing.
As Twenty One Pilots left the makeshift stage, Josh threw one more glance your way, smirking as if he knew exactly what was about to happen. He knew you so well, it was likely that he saw it written across your face.
Shrugging off your date’s arm, you pushed through the groups of people waiting for them to come out again and meet with people. You turned to walk a few steps backwards, mouthing an apology to your date, then turning back around to find Josh.
He was sweaty and smiling, arms outstretched the moment he saw you coming his way. For the second time that night, you leapt into his arms and hugged him tight — the only difference was, this time, the two of you met at the lips.
When you parted from this kiss, Josh set his forehead against yours. “Been waiting for that for a long time.”
“Me too,” you admitted. “Did you mean it?”
“You mean when I asked if you were gonna be my girl? Yeah, I meant it.”
You nodded. “Yeah. I’m gonna be your girl.”
Josh grinned and kissed you again. “Should I apologize to your date? You know, for stealing his girl?”
Giggling, you shook your head. “I’ve always been your girl, Josh.”
“I know that’s right,” he agreed, leaning down to kiss you again.

A Fresh Start In Zaun - Silco X Reader A03 (You can also sample chapter one, posted on Tumblr yesterday)
You were good at moving on. Constantly adapting and evolving with each new life and new environment, always wondering which one will be your last. The feeling clawed inside you like a trapped bird, ready to spread its wings.
Until you arrived in Zaun, and fell under the gaze of a certain man with mismatched eyes and an intimidating aura. The kingpin, leader of Zaun. All because of your friend's hair brained schemes, you were unwillingly thrown into the deep end.
You were just a baker with, supposedly, no past... But maybe this life could be more.

Note
Hello,
I was wondering if maybe you could write some sort of fluffy story with torchbearer Josh. Maybe something angsty/fluffy, like reader being worried about him before the Banditos go to do the big fight at Dema in Paladin Strait? If not, that’s okay too. No pressure. I’m just happy I found someone writing TØP on this site.
We're Going Back - Torchbearer!Josh Dun x GN!Reader
Pairing: TorchbearerJosh x Gender Neutral Bandito Reader
Warnings: Some swearing, anxiety/panic attacks, fight between Josh and Reader (reader actually is mean guys) There's fluff at the end tho!!
Word Count: 1523 (a nice long one for you anon)
Summary: When Reader finds out that Clancy and Torchbearer are going back into Dema she does everything she can to prevent it.
A/N: I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed writing it anon. Please feel free to request more because I honestly love writing for twenty one pilots. And requests are what help keep me writing I-/
Note - some of this is headcannon for the purposes of making the story work
Tumblr media
The day Clancy and I left Dema, I knew there was no going back. It just wasn’t happening. We’d managed to escape together. He’d been outside the walls alone before but during the annual assemblage he’d convinced me to ‘tag along’ as he’d put it. We’d been close friends growing up in Dema, that was just the way it was. Things changed once we left. I remember the day I met the Torchbearer, Josh. It took a lot longer than I thought it would to learn his name. For reasons unknown; he'd kept it a secret known only by his closest friends (or in my case, girlfriend). Clancy and I had only spent a few weeks at the Bandito camp before he was recaptured. He was gone for years. While I knew Josh was looking out for him, I knew exactly what kind of pain Clancy was going through. It was Dema. Josh hadn’t grown up within the walls like Clancy and I, things were different for him, he didn’t know what he was getting himself into. Which was why when he reunited with Clancy and brought him back to the camp, my panic attacks started.
“Oh god you look so different,” I cried into Clancy’s shoulder, “are you okay? I mean, of course you’re not. You’re back.” He nodded quietly, I could feel the tightness of his body in my arms. “What’s wrong?” I asked.
“We’re going back in,” he voiced bluntly, looking at Josh who nodded knowingly. This wasn’t happening. Clancy wasn’t going back, he’d just gotten out. He’d just been forced against his own will to create propaganda for the very institution that nearly killed us. Not to mention Josh hadn’t been physically in the city for longer than a few hours before. Of course they weren't going in there. Right?
“You should go get some rest before we start preparations,” Josh said, clearly noticing the shocked look on my face. “It’s good to have you back, Clancy.” Clancy’s eyes darted to mine before he walked toward the tent that had been empty for years. Josh and I were left alone, standing in the middle of the camp.
“You said we,” I muttered.
“I did,” he replied, looking at me carefully. He’d grown used to the constant nightmares I’d had about my time in Dema and worries about Clancy. “You know why we're doing this,” He said. His tone made it clear he was  stating the obvious.
“You’re going with him,” I could feel my head throbbing as I grabbed his hand tightly. Josh looked at me, a quiet sigh escaping him while he led me to our private tent.
“Of course I am.” He said matter of factly; like he never would have even considered another option. We sat down, his arms wrapping around my torso, the brightly coloured tattoo sleeve peeking out under his shirt.
“It’s not safe and you goddamn know it Josh,” my voice trembled as I remembered my time in the city. All I could think about was how isolating and cold it was. Josh almost chuckled, despite the fact that the situation really wasn’t funny.
“I’m aware it’s dangerous,” He retorted, his hand resting on his forehead before he looked at me again,“I’m not gonna let him go in there alone.”
“The bishops will kill you the second they see you, and then what? The rebellion is over. Both of our leaders will be dead, the banditos will be killed and everyone will have lost.” Josh was getting frustrated now, his grip on me loosening with every exchange. He didn’t want to be having this conversation, I could tell, but he knew if he tried to walk away I’d just follow him.
“That’s not going to happen. We have a plan, we’ll be fine,” He said, his voice full of empty hope. I knew what I was about to say when I said it, I knew I was firing a shot. One I’d been keeping in till I needed to use it.
“Oh and how did your last ‘plan’ turn out Josh? What with Clancy being recaptured and forced to write SAI?” He dropped his arms from me and moved away so he was sitting directly in front of me.
“Don’t.” He snapped, a hand raising and pointing at me. “Don’t bring that up.” He clenched his teeth, his jaw tightening as anger and frustration was starting to overtake his mind. I had to fight the urge to continue throwing emotional bullets his way. I was going to make it clear to him that it was dangerous in Dema, that he couldn’t go, regardless of whether or not it hurt our relationship. Because I loved him and I couldn’t lose any more than I already had.
“Why not?” I challenged him, “It was your plan.”
“You think I don’t know that?!” he exhaled, his whole body tense now as he yelled. “You don’t think I lay awake at night thinking it’s all my fault Clancy was captured?” His fists were clenched, he was fighting the urge to punch something. Maybe himself, maybe a wall. He closed his eyes and took a couple deep breaths, trying to calm himself like he’d taught me when I’d had nightmares. He looked like he was about to check out for the rest of the day, what I’d said really had an impact on him. “Stop,” He managed to mutter, still fighting to stay in control of his emotions.
“Okay,” I nodded. I knew exactly how he’d felt about Clancy and SAI. I knew he thought it was his fault so he spent every waking hour with Clancy, making sure he could get back safely. I knew he blamed himself, not only for Clancy’s time back in Dema but also for hurting me. He hated himself so much already and hearing me remind him of what he thought about himself all the time was making him feel terrible. He swallowed hard, his eyes darting for a moment before he finally spoke again, his voice shaky. “Just stop… please..”
I reached out to hold him, “I’m sorry, I went too far Josh.” He rested his head into the crook of my neck, quiet sobs filling the air. He melted at my touch, his arms wrapping around me and pulling me closer as he held back sobs.
“Please,” He eventually muttered, “Please don’t hate me.”
“I could never hate you, I’m just scared. I don’t want you or Clancy leaving me again, I can't take any more losses,” I pressed my lips to his temple.
“I know, I know,” He mumbled, his eyes squeezed shut as he was trying to compose himself. I continued to hold him tightly, not wanting to ever let go. “I’m scared too,” he added, his voice quiet. Eventually he pulled back and looked at me, his eyes slightly bloodshot from crying. He took a deep breath, still trying to keep hold of whatever composure he could. “We’ll be fine, I promise,” he mumbled, but even I could tell he had doubts.
“You can’t promise that,” I sighed.
“Watch me,” he replied sternly, though the shakiness in his voice didn’t help. He reached a hand out now, a cold palm cupping my chin as his eyes met mine. “I promise, we’ll come back. You have my word.” He leaned in, resting his forehead against mine for a few moments.
“If I lose you, I need you to know that you're the best thing to ever happen to me, Torchbearer.” I tried desperately to come to terms with the fact that I was going to have to let him go.
“Don’t talk like that,” He whispered, “Not like you’re already saying good-bye to me.” I cupped his face gently, pressing my lips to his in an attempt to wade off tears. He melted into the kiss, gripping his hands at my sides as he held onto me. He deepened the kiss, his head tilting so the angle was better as he pulled me closer. I would’ve been happy to stay here if it meant him not having to leave. We pulled back as the fabric of the tent rustled, Clancy entering. We pulled back as the fabric of the tent rustled, Clancy entering.
“It's time to start packing supplies and getting the others ready if we want to make it on time.” With a slight exhale Josh pulled away, turning to look at Clancy and nodded.
“Yeah, yeah we need to get moving,” he mumbled, his hands letting me go.
“Josh?” I called, catching him just before he followed Clancy outside.
He turned to look at me again, a hint of concerned look plastered onto his face.
“Yeah?” He replied, his voice quiet.
“You better keep that promise.” I desperately attempted to hold back my sobs, knowing full well that as soon as one slipped I was a goner.
“I will,” he whispered, taking a step closer to me again. “I’ll come back.” With careful hands he reached out and wiped away a stray tear that was rolling down my cheek. “I’ll always come back to you.”

Two Years Ago
y/n: josh?
y/n: are you going to tell me why you didn’t show up to lunch yesterday?
y/n: this is the third time you’ve bailed on our plans without telling me
y/n: is something going on that i don’t know about?
y/n: ok

Four Months Ago
The sun was shining on your back as you walked through the park, enjoying your Saturday off and getting some fresh air after spending the week in the office. Music playing through your headphones was also helping to block out the world around you. It was a nice way to unwind after a stressful week at work.
There was an empty bench beneath a tree, so you decided to sit down and rest for a little while before you continued your walk. You grabbed your phone from your pocket, deciding that it was as good a time as any to catch up on any notifications you may have missed. Knowing your boss, there was inevitably some side project that he would want you to take on and finish before work on Monday. Even if you didn’t want to do it, it was better to know now and give yourself plenty of time to complete it.
To your surprise, there was a text from an unknown number on your screen, bearing the simple message of “hey”. You weren’t one to typically answer those types of texts, but there had been an influx of new people at work and your boss had been quick to hand out your personal number in case they “needed anything.”
y/n: who is this?
You set your phone down in your lap while you waited for an answer; you didn’t want to sit around staring at your screen. This was still meant to be a relaxing walk, after all.
unknown: you really don’t know?
A chill ran down your spine, but you decided to push forward in the conversation. An old friend, maybe?
y/n: no, sorry.
unknown: it’s josh. josh dun?
Shit.
You shut your phone off, wishing you could pretend that you hadn’t just seen his message. The last time you had spoken to Josh was nearly two years ago, if you could even call it that. He had essentially ghosted you after he started seeing his girlfriend with zero explanation. You had tried to maintain the friendship for a few months, but after all of your texts and calls went unanswered, you finally gave up. The two of you hadn’t spoken since.
josh: this is y/n, right?
Your hands shook as you typed your response.
y/n: yeah
y/n: why are you contacting me?
josh: it’s a long story. can i call you?
y/n: i’m on a walk right now. i’ll call you when i get home.
You got off the bench and started walking in the direction you had come from.
Tumblr media
You paced the length of the kitchen with your phone clutched in your hand, occasionally stopping to take a drink of water. Even after spending the entire walk home trying to figure out what you felt about hearing from Josh, you were still conflicted. On one hand, you were excited to hear from the guy you had once considered your best friend. On the other, you were furious that he had disappeared without a trace and decided to randomly come back years later. You had gotten so used to life without him that you weren’t sure that you were ready for a life with him again.
If that was even what he wanted.
You decided to put an end to your worrying and call Josh. The phone only rang a few times before he picked up.
“Hello?” Your heart skipped a beat at hearing his voice again.
“What the fuck, Josh?”
“Well that’s not the reaction I was expecting.”
“Oh, I’m sorry, did you expect me to be all happy and relieved that you finally decided to contact me? You dropped me out of nowhere, with no explanation, and then moved halfway across the country. Who the hell does that?”
“Listen, Y/N, I can explain.”
“Then you better start explaining fast because I really don’t have the patience for this.”
“Ok.” Josh took a deep breath. “You remember my girlfriend?”
“The one you started dating before dropping me? Yeah, I remember,” you snapped.
“Yes, ok, listen. That was the problem. Things were ok for the first couple months and then she got really… controlling. One of the first things she said I had to do was stop talking to you, and I went along with it. I know it’s stupid, but it was easier than trying to fight her on it. I thought it would get better with time. I really did. I never meant to stop talking to you for years, Y/N.”
You took a deep breath. Although Josh’s actions had hurt you, you could understand where he was coming from.
“But you did, Josh.”
“I know, and I’m so sorry. I regret it every single day. That’s why I’m reaching out to you now.”
“Thank you for apologizing.”
“You’re welcome.”
“Is… is she still in the picture?” you asked.
“Yeah. I’ve been trying to put an end to things, but it’s not easy, as you can imagine.”
“Right.”
“Can I ask you something?”
You took a deep breath, “Sure.”
“Do you think that there’s a possibility that we can be friends again?”
You paused, listening to the static of the phone call.
“Yes.”
Tumblr media
Two Months Ago
Bad idea.
Bad idea.
Bad idea.
“Hi,” you smiled as you pulled the front door open. “How are you?”
Josh looked almost surprised to see you. He stared at you for a moment before he finally started to smile, holding his arms out.
“I’m ok, how are you?”
You accepted his hug and pressed your face to his chest. He smelled different than you remembered.
“I’m alright. Come in.”
After spending the last couple months catching up via texts and phone calls, you finally told Josh that you felt ready to see him in person again. He had caught a flight back to Ohio the next day and now he was standing in your entryway.
“Do you want anything to drink?” you asked.
“I’m ok, thank you.”
“Alright.”
The two of you sat down on opposite ends of the couch. Despite your easy conversation over the phone, you felt tongue tied now that Josh was actually sitting in front of you. Had it really been two years since you were in the same room?
“Your house is really nice,” Josh said. He was nervously twisting his fingers.
“You don’t have to make small talk with me, Josh. But thank you.”
He turned to you with a partial smile.
“Two years later and you can still read me like a book.”
“Your facial expressions tell me all I need to know.”
“All of it?” he asked, eyebrows raised.
“All of it.”
“Noted.”
You were unable to stop a smile from creeping across your face. Of course you and Josh would act like you hadn’t ever spent any time apart. Isn’t that how you had always been?
“Hey, what did you tell your girlfriend about going to Ohio?”
“She thinks I’m here to work on the album with Tyler. The only reason she didn’t sneak on her own flight here is because her best friend has a bridal shower tomorrow that she refused to miss, although there were a couple times that she almost bailed to come with me.”
“Yikes, I’m sorry.”
Josh shrugged, “It’s ok. Knowing that things will be over soon makes it easier.”
“What are you going to tell her?”
“The truth.”
“Which is?” you asked.
“I shouldn’t share. It’s kind of personal.”
“It doesn’t have anything to do with me, does it?”
“No,” Josh shook his head, “no.”
“Good, because I don’t want to be in the middle of all that. Apparently she already had enough reasons to not like me.”
“I never understood that. How could anybody not like you?”
“No idea,” you laughed, “but they do.”
“I don’t.” You turned towards Josh, expecting him to be laughing, but his face was completely sincere. “Not in the slightest.”
“Thanks, Josh. I appreciate that.”

One Month Ago
Ding.
Ding.
Ding.
Ding.
“What the hell?” you muttered, pulling your attention away from your laptop long enough to check your phone. There were four messages, all from Josh.
josh: i’m sorry
josh: i’m so sorry
josh: i didn’t mean for her to find out
josh: it was an accident
That didn’t sound good.
y/n: slow down, what are you talking about?
josh: [sent a link]
You clicked on the link, which took you to an Instagram post made by Josh’s now-ex girlfriend, as he had informed you last night. The picture was of her, and the caption spanned most of the rest of your screen. Your stomach sunk as you started to read it.
As many of you know, for the last two years, I was dating @joshuadun. I THOUGHT we were meant to be, but apparently he wanted to dump me because he was in love with someone else. Of course, he wouldn’t tell me who that was because he’s a lying, scummy, piece of shit that led me on for absolutely no reason. Since he won’t tell me, I’ll let all of you do my digging for me, starting with @y/n. They were friends before I started dating him and they randomly decided to “reconnect” a few months ago. Suspicious, huh? Anyway, I’m going to be taking a little social media break for my mental health, but feel free to DM me with anything you find. Hugs and kisses xoxo see you soon!
You dialed Josh instantly.
“Hi, Y/N.”
“What is going on?”
“I’m sorry. I was packing up my things this morning and left my phone on the bed while I went into another room to grab something. She snuck in and saw a message from you and started screaming at me, accusing me of cheating on her.”
“Is it true?”
“No, I would never cheat on her,” Josh said, immediately getting defensive.
“Not that part. When you were at my house, you told me that you were going to tell her the truth. She said in her post that you told her you were in love with someone else, and she thinks it’s me. Is that true? Are you in love with me, Josh?”
Your question was met with silence. You had to double check that he hadn’t hung up on you.
“Josh?”
“Yes.”
“Yes?”
“Yes,” he took a deep breath, “I’m in love with you.”
“You’ve got to be kidding me.”
“What?”
“What do you mean what?” you snapped. “You stopped talking to me out of nowhere, randomly came back years later claiming you wanted to be friends again, lied to me when I asked if the truth had anything to do with me, and then publicly dragged me into the middle of your breakup! I asked you for one thing, Josh. One. I didn’t want to be in the middle of it, yet here I am.”
“I’m sorry, it was an accident.”
“I just need to go. I’ll talk to you… I don’t know when, but I need a break from all of this. Bye, Josh.”
You hung up before giving him a chance to say anything else.
Tumblr media
Present Day
Josh was sitting in front of you.
You were nervously picking at your jeans, trying to find the right words to say. The two of you had been having conversations here and there over the last month, but you still felt bad about the way you had reacted when the drama with his ex happened. There had been more going on than you thought under the surface, and as a result Josh had gotten all of your stress dumped on him.
It was long past time you actually explained that to him.
“Are you going to say anything?” he asked.
“Yes, I just need a second,” you said. “I’m sorry.”
“Take your time.”
You nodded. Josh idly tapped his fingers on his legs.
“Ok. I think I’m ready.”
“I’m listening.”
You looked up at Josh, meeting his eyes. His eyebrows raised slightly.
“First, I just want to apologize again for how I reacted when all the drama happened. I had a lot going on and you were an easy target to take my stress out on. I thought it was just frustration at first, but after some thinking I realized it was a lot more than that.”
You waited for Josh to say something, but he stayed quiet.
“I love you too, Josh.”
“You do?”
“I pushed it down for a long time for a lot of reasons, but the fact of the matter is that I love you. I can’t deny it anymore.”
Josh leaned forward and wrapped his arms around you, burying his face in the crook of your neck. You held onto him tightly.
He smelled just like you remembered.
“I love you, Y/N.”
“I love you too,” you smiled.

Stay alive - Josh Dun x Suicidal!reader x Tyler!brother
——————————————————————————
Worthless
Fat.
Ugly.
Nothing.
The poisonous words swim around your already drowning mind.
"Shut up! Please shut up!" You screamed into the mirror hoping that your pleads would result in any sort of calm or relief but to much of your avail the voice ignored your request and continued their haunting.
If you ended it right now no one would care. The slithery voice tormented your mind.
"T-that's not true."
It is (y/n). You can't deny it anymore. No one cares about you.
"Liar!" You squealed moving your hands up to your ears in hopes that it would all stop.
Stop lying to yourself, (y/n). No one loves or cares about you. You're nothing. You're no one.
"P-please stop. Le-eave me a-alone."
The haunting figure appeared in my mirror looking darkly into my teary eyes. His eyes are blurred and red. His neck as black as coal along with his hands and arms. His mouth wore a demonic smile and his face looked familiar - too familiar.
He's the devil.
You know I can't do that love.
"W-why?"
Because I can't leave you alone until you do what needs to be done.
You closed your eyes as tight as possible as the soft yet torturous voice continued to mock tease and manipulate you.
It's quite easy actually love. All you need to do it pick up one of those blades and cut-
"No! I won't!"
You need too!
"Why?! Why can't you just leave me alone?"
Because you deserve this. All you are is a burden. To your parents. To Zack. To Madison. To Jay. To Tyler. To Josh.
"N-no please just leave me alone."
You know I'm right. I'm always right. They want nothing to do with you. They hate you.
"They're my family!"
Yes they are but they didn't have any choice in that did they?
You paused. He's right. They have no choice about being around you. They're forced.
See, sweetie, I'm right I always am.
"N-no wh-what about j-josh?" You sobbed still looking into the mirror - still looking into his blurry eyes.
Josh doesn't love you (y/n). He'll never love you. He just pity's you. He just feels obligated to be with you being Tyler's his best friend and your his sister. You're nothing beyond that.
"F-fuck y-you"
You spat at him but he seemed unaffected by it and just continued to laugh at your pathetic behaviour.
Just do it love. Save yourself and your family the bother. C'mon you know you want to.
You contemplated for a moment. Maybe everyone would be better off without you. No! That's just what he wants. Stop it! You felt the anger rise in your throat as you clenched your first in rage. You held up your clenched fist and smashed it into the silver framed mirror. The pain in your knuckles was souring through your body by you ignored it and looked back to him and he was just laughing. Laughing at you and your pathetic life.
C'mon love just two cuts - only two. One on the right one on the left. That simple (y/n).
You found yourself picking up the pristine blade that was laying idly on the side of the sink. Your shaky and now bleeding hand gently traced over its sharp edge.
That's it (y/n). Just like that. Now press it on your wrist love.
You moved the blade to your wrist and found the perfect spot among the sea of cuts that you had made along the years. You slowly and gently pressed it down right on the vein so that it began to bleed lightly.
Good girl now drag it down. Cut deep remember that (y/n).
You nodded along and did as he told. You winced as you saw the blood gush out of its rightful spot and it trailed down and fell onto the white tile floor. Although the pain was excruciating you felt almost comforted by it. You'd finally get your peace.
Now the other arm.
You repeated the same action on your other arm but the cut became more jagged and shaky as the pain had finally taken over. You felt yourself get dizzy and black spots burned your blurry vision. You looked back into the mirror and saw that he was gone or rather he was never there in the first place. He'd tricked you again. You had tricked yourself again and it might have been the very last time. You fell back rather abruptly and the pain increased as you hit the hard floor. The newfound pain was located in your head as it had banged against the side of the sink.
"I-I'm sorry."
Downstairs the door opened and two boys trailed. "Tyler" Josh whined dragging out the 'r'. "What, Joshua?" "Gimme my taco." Josh demanded childishly. Tyler continued to walk off and plopped onto the burgundy couch. "Yeah yeah here you go asswipe." Tyler mumbled passing the bag of food over. "Hey don't call me that meanie!" Josh sat down next to his best friend and started to scarf down his taco. "Yo man is (y/n) here?" Josh asked wiping his dirty hands on his jeans. "Uhhh yeah I guess she's probably upstairs." Josh nodded jumping up and heading for the stairs. "Hey wait don't you two be doing anything sexual up there!" Tyler bellowed causing Josh to chuckle lightly before bouncing up the hard wood steps. Josh reached (y/n)'s door and knocked on it wearing his wide and cheery smile.
"(Y/n)?" He sang from behind the door. "Lovely?" He knocked again to a funky beat, which just so happened to belong to one of his songs. "You in here?" He said opening the door ajar and popping his head through peering around her empty room. "Where the hell are you gorgeous?" He whispered to himself as he opened the door wider allowing himself to enter completely. He walked to the other side of her room and went towards the door to her bathroom. He knocked gently waiting for a response but nothing came. "Lovely? You in there?" He asked still knocking lightly. His hand went down to the door knob and jiggled it but didn't open. "Lovely? I know your in there please open up." Still silence and it was killing him. He knew something was wrong you wouldn't just ignore him if something wasn't wrong.
"(Y/n)? If you don't open this door now I'm kicking it in." He threatened but still no noise came from the room. "That's it I'm kicking down the door!" He bellowed slamming his shoulder into the door. The door didn't even budge so he tried it again and again until the door exploded open at his strength. He looked around the room searching for his (y/n) and then he found her. Lying on the floor. Blood pouring out of clearly deep cuts embedded in her wrists.
"Oh my god oh my god oh my-" Josh threw himself down to his girlfriend and his hands immediately applied pressure onto her wounds. "Tyler! Tyler get the hell in here!" Josh screamed for his best friend before turning back to his bleeding girl. He took his jacket off and wrapped it around on of her cuts. Josh moved he's scarlet stained hands to her neck to check her pulse. He felt weak and unsteady beats.
She's still alive.
"C'mon lovely stay with me. Tyler!" He cried. "What the actually hell is all this noise about, Joshua?" Tyler joked as he walked up the stairs. "Joshua? (Y/n)? Where are you?" "T-Tyler!" Josh repeated. "Oh c'mon what the hell is wrong with you? Who died?" He laughed coming into (y/n)'s bedroom. "C'mon Joshua spill the beans. Who die- oh my god! (Y/n)!" Tyler ran towards them almost slipping on his own sisters blood. "(Y/n)? Oh lord. What did you do?" Tyler started cry hysterically as he looked down to his bleeding sister.
"I-is she breathing?" Tyler questioned looking straight at Josh's sobbing eyes. "Josh! Is she breathing?!" Josh looked away from (y/n) and to Tyler before letting out an inconsolable cry. "I-I t-think s-so. I-I do-don't k-now. Oh g-god I d-don't know!" He exclaimed whimpering horrifically. "Josh calm down just fucking breath. I-I'll c-call som-someone. I-I'll call 911." Tyler got up and ran towards his phone calling an ambulance immediately. "Lov-lovely? Pl-please stay with me. P-please I-I need y-you. I-I lo-love yo-u." He cried into her chest struggling to breath.
"S-stay alive f-for m-me."

Chapter 2
“You look nice!” Your mom smiled at you as you slowly stumbled down the stairs. “Going somewhere?”
“Just to the bars with some friends,” you mumbled. You’ve been 21 for a while now, but it still was an odd concept that you could go drink and come back home with your parents and they would be alright with it.
“You’re not driving are you?”
“No, Tyler ordered us an uber. I believe it’s picking him up first, then Josh, and then a few others before swinging by here.”
“Be safe!” Your mom shuffled over to you and placed a soft kiss on your temple.
“I will, Mom.” You waved to her as you headed outside to sit on your porch. It was around 8 pm and the sun was starting to set. That was your favorite part about it being May, are the late sunsets. You looked out towards the sky which was painted with deep red and orange strokes.
It was silent outside. Tranquil. Your heart was fluttering as you received a text in the group message.
Josh: almost to your place, Y/N
Tyler: be ready
You smiled to yourself as you quickly typed out a response.
Y/N: waiting outside. The sunset is pretty.
Josh: almost as pretty as Tyler
Tyler: awe, thanks dude
You locked your phone and took a deep breath as you gazed back up at the sky. There were two birds flying through the distance, and you wondered if they were in love. Birds could fall in love, right?
Sometimes you wondered if you would ever have someone to fly around with, metaphorically of course. You’ve tried the dating apps, you’ve tried having your friends act like wingmen, and you have even tried meeting someone at the bars but it wasn’t your thing. You couldn’t find yourself having those feelings, the ones you felt for a certain someone.
A certain someone that you knew did not share those same feelings as you.
A certain someone that you had fallen for about two years ago. A certain someone who has had a girlfriend for the past eight months. A certain someone that you had to act like you were just best friends with.
That certain someone just happened to be Tyler Joseph.
“Y/N!” your name was shouted from a distance. As you turned your head to gaze down the street, you spotted the Uber coming out and could see Josh sticking his head out the window.
“Hey guys,” you hopped into the back seat putting yourself next to Tyler who was sitting in the middle.
“Josh decided to take two shots back at the apartment before heading out, so he has been quite something tonight,” your friend giggled from the front seat.
“Of course he did,” you shook your head and you buckled yourself in. Your hand softly grazed against Tyler’s as you were trying to snap the buckle.
“Sorry,” you both mumbled in unison. Your cheeks felt hot so you decided to open the window.
“The sunset is really something, huh?” the uber driver broke the silence in the car.
“I would call it gorge babyyy,” Josh put an emphasis on the last syllable.
“Where is Jen?” you turned to Tyler who was busy playing a game on his phone.
“She had to study for a test coming up.”
“Ah,” you bit your bottom lip trying to hide the smirk that was making its way to your face. It wasn’t that you disliked Jen, she just wasn’t your favorite person to be around. You weren’t sure if it was because you hated how optimistic she was all the time, or if it was because she was dating Tyler.
Your feelings for Tyler were only known by one other person, Y/F/N, who sat in the front seat and made eye contact with you in the rearview as they eavesdropped on the conversation. They always had pushed you to be honest with Tyler, especially since if you had been honest with him a year ago, then he would have never started dating Jen in the first place.
The issue was that you were certain Tyler did not share those same feelings that you did, despite the fact that Y/F/N and Josh has mentioned once or twice that Tyler did like you.
Josh was busy explaining a story about how he sold three guitars at once during his last shift as the car pulled up to your favorite bar. It was usually filled with younger people, so you didn’t have to worry about older creeps.
“Josh, no one cares about your story!” Tyler teased him as everyone piled out of the car. You quickly stood next to Y/F/N as you grabbed your ID out of your wallet, following the boys into the bar.
“Who wants to start with shots?” the bartender greeted you all with a smile.
“I’m down!” you raised your hand and Tyler nodded, handing the bartender his card.
“Drinks are all on me tonight, so start the tab!” he shouted over the loud music. You looked over at him with wide eyes.
“Tyler! It’s going to be so expensive!”
“Don’t worry,” he flashed a smile your way.
“I love this song!” Josh shouted. Feels Like the First Time by Foreigner came pumping out of the speakers. The bartender handed each of you a shot glass filled with a ruby red liquid.
“On 3!” Y/F/N held up their hands and slowly counted down and in unison, you all tilted your heads back as the liquid burned down your throat.
“Jesus,” you mumbled. Shots were not your forte.
“What are you going to get to drink?” Tyler turned to you and you shrugged.
“Probably a mai tai.”
“Yummy,” Tyler licked his lips and you swear you couldn’t peel your eyes away from them.
“You?”
“Going with a beer.”
“That’s not very original, Joseph,” you teased.
“I don’t plan on getting wasted, especially when I know I will end up having to take care of mister smooth over here.” He pointed his thumb over his shoulder to Josh who was already making small talk with a group of girls.
You chuckled, “He can be a handful.”
“Y/N! Come dance with me!” Y/F/N rushed over and grabbed your hand, pulling you swiftly towards the direction of the dance floor. You looked back at Tyler who seemed to be smirking as you were being dragged away.
Single Ladies by Beyonce boomed over the speakers, and you followed Y/F/N’s footsteps as they flowed with the music. You kept on taking sips of your drink, knowing that only alcohol would be able to make you feel comfortable dancing.
The lights were dim and there was a disco ball overhead that punctuated the dark club with streaks of chaotic light. You were having a good time. The more you moved, the more the shot you had taken earlier mixed with your bloodstream.
The song was finishing up, and you excused yourself to get a refill on your drink. Y/F/N followed.
“Where are the boys?” you asked, scanning the crowded bar.
“Josh is back there on the dance floor so we should go back and join him!”
“I’m not drunk enough to dance with the Josh Dun,” you cackled. You spotted him twerking in the middle of a circle.
“He’s wild,” Y/F/N sipped on their new drink. You grabbed yours from the bartender and took a long gulp, trying to ignore the burn. You never understood how people enjoyed that feeling.
“I still don’t see Tyler.” You frowned.
“Oh, there he is! He’s on his phone!” You finally spotted him, sitting at the end of the bar with a beer in his left hand and the phone in his right.
“Party pooper,” you huffed. You took another gulp of your drink and waltzed over to him.
“I’m going to the dance floor with Josh!” Y/F/N called out and you shot them a thumbs up.
“What do you think you’re doing, Joseph?” you leaned against the bar and he looked up at you.
“Hm?”
“We’re supposed to be having a good time and you look like mister frowny pants over here! Moping over your phone.”
“It’s just Jen is being difficult, I guess apparently when she said it’s fine that I came out tonight she didn’t mean it.”
“That seems toxic,” the words slipped out of your mouth without you realizing what you had said. “Sorry, that was mean.”
Tyler chuckled and took a swig from his beer, “Nah, you have a point. I shouldn’t worry about her and have a good time with my friends who care about me.”
“We do care about you!” you agreed. “Want to go dance? Josh is being a maniac as usual.”
“I need another shot, I think.” He motioned for the bartender.
“I’ll join you.” The last thing you needed right now was another shot, but you thought you would be able to let loose more.
“On 3?” Tyler hands you the glass, this time filled with a clear liquid.
“On 3,” you agreed. You both swished the liquid down, and you couldn’t help but cough.
“I’m ready now,” Tyler spoke, chasing the shot with the rest of his beer. You two squeezed your way through the sweaty crowd until you caught a glimpse of Josh and Y/F/N.
“Tyler! Y/N!” Josh threw his hands up in the air and literally skipped over to you.
“How you feeling?” you asked him.
“Dude, spectacular!” he patted Tyler on the back and went back to the dance floor.
“Yes, this song!” you squealed as Livin’ On A Prayer came on. None of your friends had planned on getting this smashed, but you didn’t seem to care too much. You let yourself go and just flowed with the music. Your hips would sway to the beat and you closed your eyes as everyone sang the chorus together.
When you opened your eyes you were met with Tyler’s staring back at you. He came over to you and grabbed your hands and continued to playfully dance with you as if you were little kids dancing at a wiggles concert.
“We’re halfway there!” you both shouted. “Living on a prayer!” You were laughing more than singing, as Tyler dramatically pretended he had an invisible microphone.
The room was now spinning and it was difficult for you to keep your balance as you kept on stumbling over your two feet.
“Grab my shoulders!” Tyler shouted over the music and you did as he said as the music picked up.
“I love this song!” you slurred. Your hand somehow got intertwined with Tyler’s and he was twirling you in a circle.
“Me too,” he giggled.
“You’re giggly when you’re drunk,” you placed your hands back on Tyler’s shoulders so you wouldn’t fall over.
“You’re silly when you’re drunk,” he teased back. You stuck your tongue out at him and he rolled his eyes.
“I like this shirt,” you mumbled. You didn’t even notice, but Tyler’s hands were now on your waist. Probably just trying to keep you up straight.
“I like your shirt too,” he spoke softly. His vision became just as blurry as yours.
“I like you,” you whispered with a smirk. You looked up at Tyler, expecting him to move away from you, but instead, you watched his brown eyes move from your eyes to gaze down at your lips.
“Is that so?” his head moved closer towards you until your noses were practically touching. The heavy scent of alcohol burned your nostrils. Your heart was racing and felt like it was going to burst out of your chest. The alcohol was making it difficult for you to figure out what was reality.
“Mhm.” You bit your bottom lip innocently. Tyler’s lips were so close to yours that you could feel his hot breath on yours. He smelled like beer.
“Kiss me,” he reached his hand up so it was cupping your cheek and guided your lips to his. They softly collided and you melted away in his arms. You had dreamt of this moment for the past two years.
The background music dissolved in with the sounds of voices singing and the only thing you actually could hear was the sound of your own heart beating uncontrollably as you stood there, kissing your best friend.
Tyler abruptly pulled his face away from his and you met with a look of shock. His eyes were wide and all you could hear was him mumble “shit” before slipping away from you, leaving you standing alone in the middle of the crowd.
What just happened?

Tattoos-Josh Dun x Reader
Tumblr media
"Are you two serious about this?"
Tyler asked for the millionth time now as we enter the tattoo shop and we wait till it's out turn. Josh and I exchange looks and laugh at Tyler who's worried, "Of course we're sure." I reply to my best friend. He sits back and begins to tell us if we are sure once more.
"It's a big deal ya know? What if you two suddenly break up and the matching tattoo will mean nothing later on..I hope you don't break up but what if you two do?"
Josh and I have talked about it and decided that it was the perfect day to get couple tattoos,we looked through some on the internet and saw some Mickey's and Minnie's and other things. I play in a band which are in hiatus for a while and I play guitar, vocals and violins.
Violins play a huge part in my life and Josh and I agreed that he would get a small tattoo of one and I would get one of the drums since he plays them,I met these two guys while on tour with my band and I knew that Josh and I had a connection ever since.Tyler and Jenna have become my family.
"I can assure you Tyler that we won't..i'm actually planning on marrying (Y/N) someday." He says wrapping his arms around me. I push him away slightly blushing but serious, "Seriously Josh!"
He stares at me confused and raises his hands in defeat, "What? I didn't do anything."
"Yes you did!..you aren't suppose to talk about those things with me,it's supposed to be a secret."
Tyler just hid his face behind his hands as he listened to is discuss till the tattoo artists called us saving us from a probable fight. I sat back and they started to ink away. Josh had no problem since he has a few tattoos but this was my second time.
Tyler held onto my hand and began to distract me from talking about the tour and all and before we knew it my tattoo was done. I looked at it and smiled, "It's perfect!" I thank the artist and I see Josh smile at his. I walk over to him and hug him tight.
"We finally got them." I say excitedly and Josh leans down to kiss me and we make our way out of the shop with Tyler next to us, "If you guys ever break up..don't blame me for the tattoo."
