In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim,

son of Josiah, king of Judah,

this message came from the LORD:

Thus says the LORD:

Stand in the court of the house of the LORD

and speak to the people of all the cities of Judah

who come to worship in the house of the LORD;

whatever I command you, tell them, and omit nothing.

Perhaps they will listen and turn back,

each from his evil way,

so that I may repent of the evil I have planned to inflict upon them

for their evil deeds.

Say to them: Thus says the LORD:

If you disobey me,

not living according to the law I placed before you

and not listening to the words of my servants the prophets,

whom I send you constantly though you do not obey them,

I will treat this house like Shiloh,

and make this the city to which all the nations of the earth

shall refer when cursing another.

Now the priests, the prophets, and all the people

heard Jeremiah speak these words in the house of the LORD.

When Jeremiah finished speaking

all that the LORD bade him speak to all the people,

the priests and prophets laid hold of him, crying,

"You must be put to death!

Why do you prophesy in the name of the LORD:

'This house shall be like Shiloh,' and

'This city shall be desolate and deserted'?"

And all the people gathered about Jeremiah in the house of the LORD.

and his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas?

Are not his sisters all with us?

Where did this man get all this?”

And they took offense at him.

But Jesus said to them,

“A prophet is not without honor except in his native place

and in his own house.”

And he did not work many mighty deeds there

because of their lack of faith.

FOCUS AND LITURGY OF THE WORD

I have a friend, who in his third year of high school, got caught stealing a package of cigarettes in his neighborhood drugstore. The owner banished him for ever from the store.

Fourteen years later, the week after his ordination as a Jesuit priest, his mother asked him to go to the same drugstore to get her something. He walked in and the older owner shouted, “I told you never again to come in here!” So he left with a big smile and went to a more welcoming place.

In today’s Gospel for this First-Friday Eucharistic liturgy, Jesus is not only returning to His home town, but is teaching to His old neighbors in their Synogogue. These faithful Jews question among themselves about his wisdom and power. They think they know Him, because they knew His parents and extended family. He had been urging the, by His words, to a more faith-based, more personally relationship with the God of their ancient faith. They resisted Him and His words, because they clung. His life-giving Word-Seeds fell on hard soil and so He moved on where there might be a more welcoming growing area.

Jesus did not need popular-acceptance. He was advancing in holy self-acceptance and so came and went. He was growing in the awareness of Who He was. He did not need any validation for His growing into. It would be attractive and easy for me to fill out this Reflection by writing about our need to grow in self-acceptance, so I won’t.

I write just a closing thought about living with memories of what we thought in the past which have frozen into the comfortable concrete. Memories can form images and we grow holding them tightly against the intrusion of the new, different and so uncomfortable.

Now here’s the punchline. What Jesus really came to do was to change the ideas of God! Imagine that! Once a relationship is concretely comfortable, it is dying and probably dead.        So, if we are unmovable and relaxed with our image of Jesus and or the unknowable God, that Jesus and His Father are moving on to more receptive soil.

Saint Eusebius of Vercelli

(c. 300 – August 1, 371)

Saint Eusebius of Vercelli’s Story

Someone has said that if there had been no Arian heresy denying Christ’s divinity, it would be very difficult to write the lives of many early saints. Eusebius is another of the defenders of the Church during one of its most trying periods.

Born on the isle of Sardinia, he became a member of the Roman clergy, and is the first recorded bishop of Vercelli in Piedmont in northwest Italy. Eusebius was also the first to link the monastic life with that of the clergy, establishing a community of his diocesan clergy on the principle that the best way to sanctify his people was to have them see a clergy formed in solid virtue and living in community.

He was sent by Pope Liberius to persuade the emperor to call a council to settle Catholic-Arian troubles. When it was called at Milan, Eusebius went reluctantly, sensing that the Arian block would have its way, although the Catholics were more numerous. He refused to go along with the condemnation of Saint Athanasius; instead, he laid the Nicene Creed on the table and insisted that all sign it before taking up any other matter. The emperor put pressure on him, but Eusebius insisted on Athanasius’ innocence and reminded the emperor that secular force should not be used to influence Church decisions. At first the emperor threatened to kill him, but later sent him into exile in Palestine. There the Arians dragged him through the streets and shut him up in a little room, releasing him only after his four-day hunger strike. They resumed their harassment shortly after.

His exile continued in Asia Minor and Egypt, until the new emperor permitted him to be welcomed back to his see in Vercelli. Eusebius attended the Council of Alexandria with Athanasius and approved the leniency shown to bishops who had wavered. He also worked with Saint Hilary of Poitiers against the Arians.

Eusebius died peacefully in his own diocese at what was then considered an advanced age.

Catholics in the U.S. have sometimes felt penalized by an unwarranted interpretation of the principle of separation of Church and state, especially in the matter of Catholic schools. Be that as it may, the Church is happily free today from the tremendous pressure put on it after it became an “established” Church under Constantine. We are happily rid of such things as a pope asking an emperor to call a Church council, Pope John I being sent by the emperor to negotiate in the East, or the pressure of kings on papal elections. The Church cannot be a prophet if it’s in someone’s pocket.

The Poisonwood Bible: The Poisonwood Bible is a story told by the wife and four daughters of Nathan Price, a fierce, evangelical Baptist who takes his family and mission to the Belgian Congo in 1959. They carry with them everything they believe they will need from home, but soon find that all of it -- from garden seeds to Scripture -- is calamitously transformed on African soil. What follows is a suspenseful epic of one family's tragic undoing and remarkable reconstruction over the course of three decades in postcolonial Africa.

Heart of Darkness: Heart of Darkness, a novel by Joseph Conrad, was originally a three-part series in Blackwood's Magazine in 1899. It is a story within a story, following a character named Charlie Marlow, who recounts his adventure to a group of men onboard an anchored ship. The story told is of his early life as a ferry boat captain. Although his job was to transport ivory downriver, Charlie develops an interest in investing an ivory procurement agent, Kurtz, who is employed by the government. Preceded by his reputation as a brilliant emissary of progress, Kurtz has now established himself as a god among the natives in “one of the darkest places on earth.” Marlow suspects something else of Kurtz: he has gone mad. A reflection on corruptive European colonialism and a journey into the nightmare psyche of one of the corrupted, Heart of Darkness is considered one of the most influential works ever written.

Of whom Jeremiah speaks. Write this man dethroned; for there shall not spring of his seed one sitting on the throne of David. (Jer. 22:30.) How is this said of the Prophet, that none of the seed of Jeconias should reign? For if Christ reigned, and Christ was of the seed of Jeconiah, then has the Prophet spoken falsely. But it is not there declared that there shall be none of the seed of Jeconiah, and so Christ is of his seed; and that Christ did reign, is not in contradiction to the prophecy; for He did not reign with worldly honors, as He said, My kingdom is not of this world. (John 18:36.)

This passage is objected to us by the Emperor Julian in his Discrepancy of the Evangelists. Matthew calls Joseph the son of Jacob, Luke makes him the son of Heli. He did not know the Scripture manner, one was his father by nature, the other by law. For we know that God commanded by Moses, that if a brother or near kinsman died without children, another should take his wife, to raise up seed to his brother or kinsman. (Deut. 25.) But of this matter Africanus the chronologist, and Eusebius of Cæsarca, have disputed more fully. The attentive reader may ask, Seeing Joseph was not the father of the Lord and Saviour, how does his genealogy traced down to him in order pertain to the Lord? We will answer, first, that it is not the practice of Scripture to follow the female line in its genealogies; secondly, that Joseph and Mary were of the same tribe, and that he was thence compelled to take her to wife as a kinsman, and they were enrolled together at Bethlehem, as being come of one stock.

For Matthan and Melchi at different periods had each a son by one and the same wife Jesca. Matthan, who traced through Solomon, first had her, and died leaving one son, Jacob by name. As the Law forbade not a widow, either dismissed from her husband, or after the death of her husband, to be married to another, so Melchi, who traced through Matthan, being of the same tribe but of another race, took this widow to his wife, and begat Heli his son. Thus shall we find Jacob and Heli, though of a different race, yet by the same mother, to have been brethren. One of whom, namely Jacob, after Heli his brother was deceased without issue, married his wife, and begat on her the third, Joseph, by nature indeed and reason his own son; whereupon also it is written, And Jacob begat Joseph. But by the Law, he was the son of Heli; for Jacob, being his brother, raised up seed to him. Thus the genealogy, both as recited by Matthew, and by Luke, stands right and true; Matthew saying, And Jacob begot Joseph; Luke saying, Which was the son, as it was supposed, (for he adds this withal,) of Joseph, which was the son of Heli, which was the son of Melchi. Nor could he have more significantly or properly expressed that way of generation according to the Law, which was made by a certain adoption that had respect to the dead, carefully leaving out the word begetting throughout even to the end.

Eusebius

He is more properly called his son, by whom he was adopted, than had he been said to have been begotten of him of whose flesh he was not born. Wherefore Matthew, in saying Abraham begot Isaac, and continuing the same phrase throughout down to Jacob begot Joseph, sufficiently declares that he gives the father according to the order of nature, so as that we must hold Joseph to have been begotten, not adopted, by Jacob. Though even if Luke had used the word begotten, we need not have thought it any serious objection; for it is not absurd to say of an adopted son that he is begotten, not after the flesh, but by affection. And suitably does Luke, who relates Christ’s ancestry not in the opening of his Gospel, but at his baptism, follow the line of adoption, as thus more clearly pointing Him out as the Priest that should make atonement for sin. For by adoption we are made the sons of God, by believing in the Son of God. But by the descent according to the flesh which Matthew follows, we rather see that the Son of God was for us made man. Luke sufficiently shews that he called Joseph the son of Heli, because he was adopted by Heli, by his calling Adam the son of God, which he was by grace, as he was set in Paradise, though he lost it afterwards by sinning.

Today, the Church remembers the the visit of the Blessed Virgin Mary the mother of Jesus to her cousin Elizabeth the mother of John the Baptist as recorded in the Gospel of Luke 1:39–56.

Traditionallly, Mary, a young Jewish girl who was little more than an adolescent by today's standards, (probably around the age of 13, the traditional age of transition from child to adult and the age for getting married) when she left Nazareth after the Annunciation of the angel Gabriel that she, though a virgin, would bear the Son of God, and her pregnancy had become visible.

Her pregnancy was complicated for many reasons, mostly because she was unmarried, though betrothed, and Luke records that she went "into the hill country...into a city of Judah" to attend to her cousin Elizabeth. Elizabeth was in the sixth month of her pregnancy before Mary came. Mary stayed three months, and most scholars hold she stayed for the birth of John. Given the prevailing cultural traditions and needs for security, etc., it is probable that Joseph accompanied Mary to Judah then returned to Nazareth, and came again after three months to take Mary back to their home. The visitation of the angel Gabriel to Joseph, mentioned in Matthew 1:19–25, may have taken place when she was with Elizabeth to end the tormenting doubts of Joseph regarding Mary's maternity.

It is traditionally held that the purpose of this visit was to bring divine grace to both Elizabeth and her unborn child. Even though he was still in his mother's womb, John became aware of the presence of the Son of God, Jesus, and leapt for joy, being filled with Holy Spirit. In this one line of Scripture, we can see the clear teaching of Scripture that unborn children, no matter the stage of development, are fully human and capable of knowing and responding to the presence of God. The ongoing clinical murder of unborn children is an unspeakable evil, and we must pray for God to have mercy on us and give us his Spirit to transform our minds to recognize this truth, that at conception we are fully human, made in the image of God, and must be protected and nurtured in love.

Elizabeth also responded similarly and recognized the presence of Jesus, at which she [Elizabeth] spoke out with a loud voice, and said, "Hail, Mary, full of grace! Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord."

In response to Elizabeth, Mary proclaims the Magnificat:

"My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior.

For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name. And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.

He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.

He hath helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy; As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever."

Blessed indeed is she who believed the promise of the Lord, and blessed is he, Joseph, who also believed the promise of the Lord.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Bearer of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Father in heaven, by your grace the virgin mother of your incarnate Son was blessed in bearing him, but still more blessed in keeping your word: Grant us who honor the exaltation of her lowliness to follow the example of her devotion to your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Genesis 46-47

Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible Chronological, I'm China. Today is the 28th day of January. Welcome. So great to be here with you today as we come together and finish out the week. This is where I will leave you at the end of at the end of the reading the scripture. We still have the scripture to go through, but I am so thrilled, so stoked to be here today and to come. And we're not finishing this story today, but I'm finishing this part of the story with you today. And so let's jump in. We're in Genesis 46 through 47, finishing off with the Common English Bible for this week.

Commentary:

So today is the second to last day of the book of Genesis. So tomorrow you will finish that off with my mom and then begin the Book of Exodus. And so as we finish out this part of the story, it's really interesting the way that things get set up. So we have Joseph, who is second in command, and he has faithfully maintained this position. And now he is in a place where he is selling the storehouses he gathered up. Not only did he interpret the dream for Pharaoh, but he has been held like he's got the position to be responsible for storing up all of that grain and then to sell it. And so that's what's kind of happening here is the Egyptians are buying up the grain and then they are like, okay, we don't have any more silver. And then they're using their farmland, their cattle, to use that as a monetary source to keep eating, to stay alive. So then Joseph, who's in this position for Pharaoh, is like, okay, great, like, I have enough equity here. I'm going to buy up all the land for Pharaoh except for these specific lands for the priest. Those stay the priests. But here is seed. Use this for yourself and also use this to plant. But then make sure you give this portion for Pharaoh. And so then they become enslaved. Now this is the part that I kind of got almost, like, stumbled up on because I was like, okay, I'm out. Do the Egyptians just then turn into the Israelites here? Then like, this is the slavery part. But no, you'll you'll read that in the next two days. But yes, everything kind of seems like it's working for each other. And then within Joseph's family, where you remember he brought 70 there's 70 of them that he he all brought together into the land of Egypt. And they are I mean, 70 people doesn't seem that intimidating, right? So they they just hunger down, they settle in and they start becoming numerous. And we'll see where this takes off from here. Again, I'm trying to stay present in today's reading and not launch into what's coming, but it definitely is an interesting ending to this story. But I've so enjoyed reading the story of Joseph and just the man of integrity that he was and that he chose to be, even when he had a lot of reasons that he didn't have to. And I'm just so grateful that we have people like this to read in the Bible. I feel like there's a lot of things in the Bible that were like, okay, you see this? Don't do this, or more so of just like, okay, that did not work out for them that way. Okay, let's be mindful of this, let's carry this wisdom, this knowledge with us. And then sometimes we see things that are like and that really encourages my heart to to move in this same direction or to be similar or even just to be aware or to pray similarly. And so I'm thankful for his life that he lived. 

Prayer:

So Father, I thank you for your word. I thank you that it is relatable and that all these thousands of years later, your Holy Spirit is breathing life and that it holds weight and it holds value and we can relate to it. And Lord I just thank you for that. What a gift it is to have your word and I just thank you for it. And it’s in Your name we pray.

Good morning, chronological prayer group. I'm Heather, I'm from Nashville and first time calling in, just listening to China's pouring out of two very difficult passages of understanding why the mandrakes were important, I didn't know and thank you for that. I've been reading the Bible since 2004, straight through every year and so I'm I'm glad for all these different translations and then for Dinah. I'm crushed by that passage every year that I read because of being a survivor of rape. And I took a self defense class this year and it really spurred me on to refer to myself in regards to anything as a survivor. And I don't know that I'm ever going to be an overcomer because that changes you forever. But I do want to be freed. So this is my prayer request for myself and perhaps anyone else that's struggling 40 years later. I do want to have the triggers removed so that I can trust people. I don't want to attract anyone that would hurt me. And I feel like I'm in a loop that's not healthy in regards to my thought life, in regards to trusting men. So please, Lord, I just want to lift up myself and anyone else that's struggling with trauma help these triggers to be removed and help us to live in peace in our minds and our thought lives and our relationships. So I just want to thank you so much all for your prayers. I love them every day and I hope you all have a wonderful year. Happy 2023 to you all. Thank you, Lord.

Last year I started a little business and the inventory that I bought, I probably bought too much, and then that inventory has expiration. And so now I have debt left over from last year and I just need guidance on what inventory to buy for this year. It's a very small business and in a small community, and I am just needing prayer for how to move forward.

Good morning, fam. This is Emma in Indiana. First time DABCer, longtime DABer. I am calling in this morning asking for prayer for both myself and my husband. He is a first time DABer this year, so that's pretty great, but I'm reaching out and asking for prayer. My husband is going through a career change and through this career change, he has a training program that is about 10 hours away from where we currently live and I'm not going to see him for another six weeks. And I just ask that you pray over the situation and over his courses and the things that he needs to do to be successful at the training program he's at for his new job and that you also pray for me to have wisdom and to have grace. As I am at home kind of waiting for him to come home, prayer would be great. Thank you so much and I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day. Have a blessed one.

Hey, DABC, this is Marielle from Massachusetts. First, I want to praise God for calling Jill, China, Brian and everyone else to this mission of the DABC. It has been such a blessing for me over the past few years. So thank you all. I am calling to request prayers for my family. First, asking for prayer for my family to come to know God not just as a concept to believe in or not believe in, but as a personal savior. And Lord, I pray that they open their hearts and surrender to Jesus to find true relationship with Him. Second, I pray for protection for my sister Martha, who is getting baptized January 29. And I pray this baptism helps us break generational curses in my family, like addiction, alcoholism, unhealthy physical, intimate relationships. And third, I pray for healing for my dad Chris, who was just recently diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis from chemo in the early 80s, so his lungs no longer expand or contract enough for him to get enough oxygen. So I'm praying for a miracle that defies medicine so all glory goes to God and he finally believes. And fourth, I humbly pray for or I ask for prayers for a godly husband to help me lead and be an example for my family. Over the past eight or so years, I've been focusing on relationship with Jesus instead of men and letting go of the lives of the enemy about my value and worth. So I'm asking for prayer for continued renewal of hope and faith that God does not intend for me to be alone. I thank all the prayer warriors out there and I lay my petitions down at the foot of the cross. I believe and receive your prayers in the name of Jesus, not just for my family, but for all families in need of healing and protection. Thank you and God bless you.

Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, just as it had been told to them. When eight days were completed for his circumcision, he was named Jesus, the name given him by the angel before he was conceived in the womb. Communion.

We are going to use the Communion now, and here every person can please use their preferred elements for the grape juice and the bread.

Communion Scripture: Matt. 26: 26-28

And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Symbolic:

Bread that is broken - Jesus’ Body on the Cross for our sins.

Grape Juice - Jesus’ Blood that wash us clean from our sins, for us to stand clean before God.

(Parents with little children, explain carefully to the children the seriousness of the Communion, Jesus died on the Cross for our sins, and every time that we use the Communion we remember that there was a Cross and that Jesus died for our sins. We use the Communion to give thanks to Jesus and to always remember that He had died for our sins.

Every parent knows how much their children do understand about the Cross Death, and how to explain it to them. I would however invite everyone to allow their children to make use of the Communion, even if the little child only understand that there must be prayed and that there must be an atmosphere of respect)

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.

But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

I am Joseph, the man of Nazareth, a small town with a very small community. I am of the seed of David and of the tribe of Judah. Our tribe is not spotless and without flaws. We are a tribe rich in a history of scheming, betrayal, and infidelity. We have also taken into our tribe women who are not part of the Israelite people. We've made a lot of mistakes, yet we're still here. We have a history that is very colorful, but we all do our part.

There is a prophecy of a Savior who is going to come to deliver us. We don't know when the Savior will come, nor how the Savior will come. We all secretly hope that it will be soon, and perhaps the Savior will come and change our political circumstances. At this point, it just sounds like a pretty dream.

I'm just an ordinary man. I make wooden furniture, and I work hard. I strictly follow the laws and commandments. I'm also not a rich man and can only take care of myself and my fiancé.

My engagement to Mary has just been announced. We are in the process of arranging our wedding. I can hardly wait to marry Mary. She is the most beautiful girl in Nazareth. Her soft eyes speak of love, and she has capable hands. She is a young girl who will be able to work hard in the household. We have a lot of time to grow old together. The preparations for our wedding are progressing quickly, and we will most likely be able to be married soon.

However, my life has come to a standstill in the last few days, and everything just seems very messed up. Mary came to tell me that she was pregnant, and it was not my child. I could never in my life suspect Mary of infidelity. The woman who stole my heart is not the type of woman who would act unfaithfully. Mary says she has not been unfaithful to me for a moment and that the child she is expecting is the Messiah. That doesn't sound quite right to me. How can a woman get pregnant without a man? This is not at all acceptable behavior from a young girl. When this pregnancy is about to become public, Mary may be stoned, especially when the community hears that I am not the Baby's father. I'm trying to think of a way to break off our engagement in secret. However, I love Mary very much and would not like to humiliate her in front of the community. I'll wait until the right time to break off our engagement.

My head was already spinning to think for a good solution to this problem. I lay down on my bed to clear my head and to find peace for my soul. I must have fallen asleep from fatigue. I had the funniest dream; an angel appeared to me in my dream and told me that the Baby Mary is expecting is from the Holy Spirit. The Baby will be a Son, and His Name will be Jesus. This Baby will redeem the people from their sins. The angel says I should not be afraid.

Now I'm lying here on my bed, contemplating the events of the past few days. Everything sounds so unreal. Mary and I were visited by an angel. We both heard that the prophecies were going to come true and that we were going to play a big part in it. Everything sounds so unreal. It's really going to happen now, and a big part of history is going to play out, and Mary and I are going to have a part of it.

We decided that Mary should go to her cousin, Elizabeth's for a period of time. We received the news that Elizabeth had suddenly become pregnant after years of infertility. Elizabeth is already in her sixth month of pregnancy. The two women will be very happy to chat and socialize with each other. It gives me the opportunity to announce our marriage.

Elizabeth's son was born, and she and Zechariah went completely against the family customs, naming the baby John. Mary returned home, and we began our life together.

Mary's pregnancy is progressing well, and the end is almost in sight. All would have been well and good, but a census has been proclaimed, and everyone must now leave for the village from their tribes. We have a four-day trip that we have to embark on to Bethlehem. I'm worried about Mary and the unborn Baby. Mary will not be able to make the journey by foot, nor is the terrain such that we will be able to tackle it with a wagon. At least I have a donkey on which we can load the luggage, and at least Mary will be able to ride the donkey from time to time.

The journey was tough. Mary was very courageous and embarked on the journey with jerks on foot. She felt so sorry for me and the donkey. We reached Bethlehem in the nightly hours. Mary is bitterly tired, and I see that she has turned very pale in the latter part of the journey. I asked her a few times what was wrong, but she answered me nothing was wrong. I walked from inn to inn looking for a place for us to spend the night. Mary asked that to wait instead, but I feel very worried about Mary. I rush to her, and she tells me the Baby is on its way. There's only one inn left where I haven't been; I'll let Mary go on the donkey with me. The woman at the inn says the inn is also fully booked, and there isn't even a place for a mouse. She does offer that we can make use of the stable.

A stable is not exactly the right place for any pregnant woman, but Mary is already so tired and sore that she doesn't mind just being able to rest. Mary is very brave, and the baby is born right there in the stable. All the animals in the stable fell silent and experienced the birth in silence. There is a manger, and we take the cloths and linen that Mary has brought and wrap the Baby in it. My heart wants to burst; my wife was so brave, and there she is now, tired and lying exhausted. She is the epitome of love. Her finger slides over the Baby's cheek, and then she asks me what we are going to call Him. My quick answer is Jesus, as I look at the Baby in the manger. Uncertainty overtakes me: am I worthy of raising this Child? What will happen if I make a mistake? What will His life look like? How am I going to keep this Baby safe?

There is a knock at the door of the stable, and here in front of me are the shepherds who have been watching their flocks in the open fields. They tell us that the angels have come to tell them the Good News of a Baby born in a stable, who lies wrapped in swaddling cloths in a manger. This night changes my life. I will never be able to look at this Child again and not see God's love. I don't know how I'm going to raise this little Child, but I know that I'm going to do the best of my ability. This Child will be the Salvation for all His family, friends, and humanity. The little Boy who now lies here in my arms will be the King of Kings.

Prayer:

Father, thank you that we have the privilege of celebrating Your Son's birth today. Jesus, thank you for coming into the world as a Baby. Thank You for loving us so much that You entered this world as a human being and came to conquer the world for us. Jesus forgives us when we sometimes doubt Your love for us. Holy Spirit guides us to always be faithful. Father, please let Your Will be done in our lives. In Jesus name, Amen.

The Book of Genesis (i.e., Sefer Bereshit [סֵפֶר בְּרֵאשִׁית]) is concerned with beginnings: the creation of the universe and the origin of humanity. It quickly moves from universal history (Adam, Noah, Babel) to the history of Abraham, the first Hebrew (אַבְרָם הָעִבְרִי). The remainder of the book focuses on the lives of the Jewish patriarchs, and especially the story of Joseph. The book ends with the entire family of Israel migrating to Egypt to escape famine through the auspices of Joseph.

There are fifty chapters in Genesis divided into twelve weekly readings. This week we are reading the very first portion, "Parashat Bereshit" (i.e., Gen. 1:1-6:8). Among other things we will read about the creation of the universe, and particularly about the creation of Adam and Eve and how they forfeited their honor to serve God through their disobedience. We then learn about the first sacrifice for sin and the great prophecy of God's redemption through the Seed of the woman, the promised deliverer.

We further read about the how the first child born to Adam and Eve, Cain, later murdered his brother Abel, and how the subsequent generations from Adam to Noah became more and more corrupt, leading to God's judgment upon the world through the flood...

It is a breathtaking portion of Scripture that is absolutely foundational to all that follows, and indeed without it we would not know how we came into the world, who we are, why we are sick and sinful, and how we are healed by the grace and compassion of the LORD God our Savior...

It is not enough to be amazed at the Quran or believe in Allah, none of that matters if we do not trust the Prophet and undo the damage our complacency with sin and wickedness has caused.

Joseph replied, “You will plant ˹grain˺ for seven consecutive years, leaving in the ear whatever you will harvest, except for the little you will eat.

Then after that will come seven years of great hardship which will consume whatever you have saved, except the little you will store ˹for seed˺.

Then after that will come a year in which people will receive abundant rain and they will press ˹oil and wine˺.”

Commentary:

The Seven Deadly Cows are the Seven Days of Creation undergoing devolution because of the corruption of mankind. Corruption is the dream of an ex-prisoner, one who has spent his time doing time instead of reading the Torah. He did not leave Egypt when he was supposed to, he is illiterate and his ideas about life in Israel are warped.

41 After two whole years, Pharaoh dreamed that he was standing by the Nile,

Two dreams by two of seven by seven. The first two Decrees must be be the two dreams and two years. What happens in these? Seven good days and the seven bad days. What happens if we reverse the seven days?

As prosperity dwindles in a blight of ignorance, men, the animals, the land, the atmosphere, light darkness, civilization and anarchy will begin to trade places.

Why does this happen? the Cupbearer who forgot the dream, realization of One God by all the people when he served his wine to the Pharaoh.

Then he remembered it and the two compared notes...And what does the Torah say about dreams- they can't be forgotten, they must be eschewed into the world.

Thin cows like Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin and Kung Pao Panda who is helping the former invade Ukraine get involved with raping the planet because they think they have nothing better to do and they are wrong. Anyone who helps them is wrong. Nothing these people think or do is right. They are supposed to be our prisoners, not the other way around.

So the Quran says the only way to win our lives back is to put the thin cows in our life either in jail or underground and follow the Course. They have never done right by the human race and have no intentions of doing so. We have no more choices.

Ether 13, Part 2. "The Packer."

Lehi, the Jawbone refers to the Mashiach. Who feeds the jawbone of the donkey, starts the onset of the New Age. We have been feeding out donkey nonsense so and so the world is burning down. If we feed him the kind of fodder he can digest, he will carry us where we need to go.

We have polluted the air, the water, the land, everything, including the human mind with poison beyond capacity. The oceans are rising and filling with garbage and there are floods all over the place. This is a sign we have been too negligent and now must become conscientious. The war in Ukraine needs to stop at once. Those missiles and jets are exhausting too much heat into the atmosphere, which needs to be scrubbed instead of overheated or polluted.

In 1830, the first real American prophet said this place was a choice land upon which the legacy of Joseph and the descendants of Israel should make find their fortunes and make their homes. Except it is a place of corruption and fear. All the world is afraid of what we will do next. This feeding of the fear is a travesty the Book of Mormon says we cannot afford:

The Values in Gematria begin with verse 8.

v. 8: Wherefore, the remnant of the house of Joseph shall be built upon this land. The Value in Gematria is 9436, טדג‎ו‎, tedgo, "fish."

Fish are very low on the food chain. It is not difficult to do as the Christ said and put the lowliest first and use the resources of the government to educate them and help them achieve their life's ambitions. Yes there are issues, we don't want some unwed Mexican mother pumping out babies so the government can give them an all expenses paid life right through graduation from college at Harvard. But we know if we do it once or twice, the birth rate in that community goes down, it's net worth goes up. So this makes sense to start at the bottom of the human food chain and live simple truths, just as we were told to do.

 Living in extreme and persistent poverty has particularly negative effects (18), although the consequences of not being defined below the poverty line but still suffering from material hardship should not be underestimated (20). Furthermore, American studies found strong interaction effects between SES and exposure to risk factors. For instance, parents from disadvantaged backgrounds were not only more likely to have their babies born prematurely, but these prematurely born children were also disproportionately at higher risk for school failure than children with a similar neonatal record from higher income families (18).

It is worth noting that international studies have consistently shown similar associations between socioeconomic measures and academic outcomes. For example, the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) assessed the comprehensive literacy skills of grade 4 students in 35 countries. The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) assessed reading, math and science scores of 15-year-old children in 43 countries (21).

At these two different stages of schooling, there was a significant relationship between SES and educational measure in all countries. This relationship has come to be known as a ‘socioeconomic gradient’; flatter gradients represent greater ‘equity of outcome’, and are generally associated with better average outcomes and a higher quality of life.

Generally, the PISA and the NLSCY data support the conclusion that income or SES has important effects on educational attainment in elementary school through high school."

v. 9: And there shall be a new heaven and a new earth; and they shall be like unto the old save the old have passed away, and all things have become new. The Value in Gematria is 9947, טטדז‎ ‎‎, tatadz, "Get excited."

We have had this discussion many times. The world to come, called Olam Ha Ba in Hebrew. But first, the Rab says must come what is called the Unsundering.

The human race must teach itself how to abandon its urge to sin. It is far more difficult to sin, then repent, sacrifice, and atone that not to sin at all.

"It is not hidden from you nor far off. It is not in the heavens that you should say: Who shall go up for us to the heavens? So before everyone gets a super stiffy about the future first our perception of sin must change.

If there is a more confusing concept than "washing in the blood" in religion I do not know what it is. To be washed in the blood is to be born into a world that has not foresworn violence and savagery and to repent of it oneself. The concept of the Paschal Lamb is "one more time, then no more after that."

To hang the Christ on a Cross and drink His Blood meant "this far, no farther." This was an egregious sin heaven will not forgive unless it is for the last time. God was willing to take a huge risk, it has to pay off or His Fury will not be waylaid.

The Value in Gematria is 10352, יג‎הב‎‎, yaghab, "cloudy, obscure." To live between pleasure and self-induced pain is not rational. God is telling us in the verse to stop this. The Rabbi says in order to observe Kosher one needs two kitchens. All things dual in religion imply the root cause of sin.

One kitchen, the one that serves happiness alone is the one to use to prepare the food for one's ass.

11b: And from the north countries, and are partakers of the fulfilling of the covenant which God made with their father, Abraham.

The Value in Gematria is 5922, ט‎באב, tabb, "the cell with a gangway."

God made a Covenant with Abraham. There is a reason He made it with Abraham, who did not sin and not with any other Jew anywhere else in the Torah. He repeated it with others to reinforce His Promise, but as we know, the wickedness of mankind outlived even Moses.

The Covenant with Abraham connects us all to God since ancient times. The violence on this world, the oppression and the wickedness has to stop. Its cause, corruption within the governments of the world's super powers and third world countries has to be rooted out and educated ethical persons, experienced in the science of government need to root it out.

v. 12:  And when these things come, bringeth to pass the scripture which saith, there are they who were first, who shall be last; and there are they who were last, who shall be first. Christ said "as you do to the lowliest you do to me." Our so called Christian nation treats Jesus like shit. Shame on you.

The verb יפע (yapa') means to shine or radiate (specifically of theophanies). Noun יפעה (yip'a) means brightness or splendor.

The verb יפה (yapa) means to be beautiful. The adjective יפה (yapeh) means beautiful and the diminutive adjective יפה־פיה (yepeh-piya) means pretty. Noun יפי (yepi) means beauty.

The feminine noun עצם ('esem) a very common noun meaning bone (Exodus 12:46, Micah 3:2), or one's whole body (Psalm 6:2, Exodus 24:10). In Jeremiah 50:17 this word is used as a verb, meaning to gnaw on bones.

Now, why is it necessary to uphold positive character? Character guarantees Divine guidance and direction. One essential necessity of life in this New Year is Divine guidance and direction. You need Divine direction to know where your blessing lies; you need Divine guidance to avert the plot of the evil one in this New Year. And one thing that guarantees Divine guidance and direction is positive character. Iniquity on the other hand brings confusion. Proverbs 11:3 says, The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them. Integrity brings guidance. Character supplies direction. Proverbs 21: 29 says, A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way. Uprightness brings direction. Again, Psalm 112:4 says, Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous. So, righteousness brings brightness and unrighteousness invites darkness. A sinner will never find his way in life as long as he remains in sin. Character is key to guidance.
