The mpreg definition is pretty simple. It’s a short form that stands for “male pregnancy.” The simple version of that is simply “dudes getting pregnant.” Most often, people refer to (presumably) cisgender men getting pregnant. This isn’t scientifically possible at this point in time. Some people have speculated on whether it would be possible or not. The general conclusion is that a placenta would have to attach to a major organ like the stomach. Subsequent separation would mean that the guy would likely bleed out. And that’s just the start of the problems. So, long story short, “real” mpreg isn’t possible. And there’s a particular question: Why would anyone want it to be? Obviously, there are people who enjoy mpreg stories. So we could speculate that there are maybe some people who might want to test it out. Humanity’s fascination with the idea of a cisgender male human becoming pregnant runs deeper than the surface level, though. There’s something about it that intrigues us. Maybe because it’s weird, or maybe because it seems to “invert” nature. Why do I say that? Well, mpreg actually shows up all over the place. It’s most freely expressed in fandom and the MM romance genre, but it definitely exists out side of those spaces. Examples include the 1994 Arnold Schwazenegger flick Junior (a comedy, in which Arnie plays a scientist who experiments on himself). Another is The Fairly Odd Parents, in which Cosmo is the one to do the childbearing duties. More recently, the Netflix series Big Mouth featured one of the male hormone monsters getting pregnant. The most prominent example is the Norse trickster god Loki. Famously, Loki transforms into a mare and becomes pregnant, giving birth to Odin’s eight-legged horse Sleipnir. That’s not necessarily “mpreg,” since Loki is a female horse at the time. We can argue this tale features mpreg, but in a weird gender-bendy sort of way. A clearer example is the variant of a myth that say Loki himself gave birth to Hel, Fenrir, and Jorgumandr. In this version of the myth, Loki becomes impregnated after eating the giant Angrboda’s heart. In the natural world, true mpreg does actually occur. It’s limited to about two species: Seahorses, sea dragons, and other pipefish. Seahorses are probably the most infamous mpreg critters. The female seahorse uses an ovipositor to deposit eggs in the male seahorse’s pouch. The male seahorse then fertilizes the eggs and carries the young until they hatch. As I noted above, what most people think of as mpreg is a cisgender man becoming pregnant. This is a scientific impossibility, so most mpreg stories deal with sci-fi tech, aliens, or magic to make it possible. There are a couple of “real life” ways mpreg can and does happen. The first, and most common, is trans men. Trans men are XX phenotypical, which often means they have ovaries and uteri. Some trans men choose not to have these organs removed. Testosterone doesn’t always inhibit ovarian function either. The result? Some trans men can get pregnant—and some do indeed get pregnant. Some intersex individuals may also be capable of becoming pregnant, even if they identify as men. In some cases, intersex individuals may appear “as” cisgender men, but they actually have functioning ovaries and uteri. Intersex conditions are relatively common, and there are cases where someone with a “male” phenotype functions as “female.” What all this means is that nature and biological sex categories are a lot more complicated than we like to admit. In that sense, mpreg is actually something that can happen. In fantasy stories, it might be magic or a curse, or it could be a fantastical species. In sci-fi, it could be some super-advanced technology. Omegaverse is often a specialized version of mpreg that explains the possibility through the “secondary sex” of alpha, beta, or omega. People might still be “male” and “female,” but whether they’re alpha, beta, or omega determines if they can bear children. Eggpreg is another specific subset of mpreg, which features a male character being impregnated by having an egg “laid” insid

Actually this is about Jorgumandr as he is a dragon known to put things he likes in his mouth, and he commonly swallows them accidentally.
OH THANK YOU ANON. I went to sleep fully thinking Fafnir confused kissing for cannibalism. Doesn’t help that in the crossover event Fafnir tries eating or siphoning off Hreidmar’s energy so I just fully thought it was a cannibalistic thing.💀

The soft breath out of Loki's long nose could've been a laugh if there was any mirth behind it-- for now it was recognition. He set his drink down to start kicking off his other boot to join the first. "I never thought I'd see you take my side over his. I think that's the only reason I'm hanging on. That and, uh... planning the 'congrats on cheating death again' party." It was brutal honesty, but the vodka would do that.
"You're right. You're extremely right, actually. That's... one of the things I was learning with my doppelgänger. He was everything Odin envisioned him to be. In a way, he was the perfect Loki to the Allfather. And he was powerful-- he kicked our asses across Jotunheim. But... I could become more powerful, if I... let go. Escape that prison. Step off the scale. Six told me... she believed in that. But she didn't want me to be powerful as much as she wanted me to be happy..."
A sniffle. Loki drowned it in his vodka, and then poured some more-- the head rush was enough to knock him over if he was still standing. Instead, he laid down on his back on the floor. "He really did push me into that box, didn't he? A-and I'd... I'd always try and please him, too. Even now. I almost gave him the gem myself. I've been collecting ingredients for him to rebuild mother's garden as a peace offering, and what does he do about it? He kills my wife."
The next wild gesticulation above him tossed some vodka onto his clothes. Loki didn't care. "I gave him my life. My magic, my labor, my children. I gave him Fenris and Jorgumandr and Sleipnir, and he-- he destroys them, because he says they're susceptible to being evil. Just like me. And still I gave them over, because I'm-- I'm a stupid, desperate wretch."
There was no art to the way Loki reached over for the ice bucket to grab a fat cube and stuff it in his mouth to start crunching on it. "Who knows, maybe that was my impetus to start being a villainous little bastard. He wasn't happy with me trying to be good, so maybe-- if I was the villain--" a sigh. "I'm so sorry I bit you. That was stupid... Do you still have Hefti...?"
He certainly did, but that sort of thing was usually negligible. Breaking the rules didn't seem worth it right now, and though that wasn't surprising, it reinforced Thor's worry plenty. A little bit of mischief wouldn't make any of this better, and it certainly wouldn't bring Dot home sooner.
I'll believe you, then. Poor Loki was rather out of sorts. There was a question to be asked there, but Thor was still unsure about touching it.
"No harm done," it would heal with time, just as everything did. Better Thor take a hefty bite than Loki destroy Asgard, after all, "I'm only thankful you listened to me in return. I don't fault you for wanting to destroy Asgard. I know you could have -- I can only imagine how heavy your grief is."
Another swig of his own bottle before speaking again, "He'd wanted me to stay by his side. To prepare for your attack against Asgard. If it would have resulted in death... I would like to say it would have been imprisonment, but he's far more cruel this time around. Dorothy killing his Einherjar bothered him, it seems."
With his mind spinning from the liquor, Thor still didn't fancy himself an intellectual, but at least his tongue was looser, "I dare to say: his order and control keep us... weak. It's like..." Thor clicked his tongue as he thought, formulating the words in his mouth before he spoke them, "He makes us do the same things, over and over, and that way we never grow. We stay the legends that we are, but we are much more than that, aren't we?"
Maybe it didn't make sense, but to the God of Thunder it felt apt; he'd feared becoming more than Thor. To take on the helm of King of Asgard was uncomfortable and ill-fitting. Thankful as he was to be free, they'd gone backwards for it, "I promise you, regardless of what Father wants and despite my drunk ramblings, I won't let him harm you further."

Hello everyone
I am looking for books about the Norse Mythology.
I already have Neil Gaiman’s book.
I am looking for the Prose and Poetic Edda.
Are there any other recommendations for it. I am really interested and curious about these and would love to read a lot more.
So I can educate and inform myself more because one can never stop learning.

Sam Wilson, Thor, Bucky Barnes, Namorita, Gamora. Scarlet Witch. Shuri. Black Panther. Whichever of these you want to talk about, have at it. Good day.
I’ll do three of these characters and if you really want me to talk about the others just ask me again. I do only three because I tend to ramble sometimes (partially because I can’t decide on one thing for certain questions) and I’ll stretch this to infinity if I do all of them.
Sam Wilson
First impression: I think it was when I was reading older Captain America comics and I got to his first appearance and I vaguely knew he was Cap's partner in the comics at that point. I remember thinking that I liked his power since I love birds and Sam talks to birds, I also liked his chemistry with Steve.
Impression now: He is one of my favorite Cap characters, I really love him and I think a Captain America isn't Captain America without him. Like I consider him essential to the Cap mythos. I love the Gruenwald and Roger Stern runs but my major gripe about those runs is that Sam is barely in them.
Favorite moment: Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #8-9 AKA the first time Sam became Captain America. I also liked his Generations story with Steve.
Idea for a story: Something that deals with Sam's telepathy and how powerful it is and maybe the fact that it can also extend to other animals, creatures, and aliens that are related to birds (Since the Shi’ar are part birds would his telepathy work on them?). Other than that I guess I would like more stuff with Sam's family.
Unpopular opinion: I don't know if this is unpopular but I liked the Remender Sam Cap run. Probably waaay more than his run with Steve.
Favorite relationship: Sam and Steve obviously is number one, I'm pretty much convinced they're married. I also like Sam's relationship with Sharon, Bucky, Joaquin, and Misty. I pretty much like Sam with a lot of characters although I guess I didn't really care much for his relationship with Jane since that really came out of nowhere and I don't think they ever broke up or anything.
Favorite headcanon: He's worthy of Mjolnir but he just doesn't care to find out. Sam has anxiety and Redwing helps him deal with it. Geese are some of the bird species he doesn't particularly like to talk to because they're major assholes. Crows are some of his favorite because of their ingenuity and how well informed they are (he will get information from them when he's on a stakeout). He knows Steve will do anything for him and sometimes he'll take advantage of that for the most mundane stuff (like getting a glass of milk from him, getting Steve to cook for him, or if Steve is going to an event where he can only bring a +1 Sam gets to be his plus if he wants too). He doesn't really like to call Bucky James because the name reminds him of his nephew James Wilson. Because Bruce Banner refused to give his blood to James Wilson when he was dying (he didn't want to create another Hulk) Sam doesn't exactly see eye to eye with him. Sam has trouble sleeping because he's a light sleeper (he didn't live in a good area while growing up and had to always be alert) and he likes to wake up early.
Black Panther
First impression: First time I saw him was in the Fantastic Four cartoon when I was a kid and I remember thinking he was like a cat version of Batman. He manages to beat the F4 easily if I recall and I thought that was badass.
Impression now: I like T'Challa, I binge read his comics up until the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda (which I still have to finish).
Favorite moment: When he beats the KKK in McGregor's run that was such a powerful moment. Panther's Quest, his fight with Killmonger in Priest's run.
Idea for a story: I would like Al Ewing to do more stuff with T'Challa, I liked how Ewing handled him in Ultimates. I haven't finished Coates' Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda but what I read I thought was interesting. I guess I want more BP cosmic stuff, the TLA tie-in comic was good too.
Unpopular opinion: I really didn't get that much into Hudlin's Black Panther run.
Favorite relationship: T'Challa and Steve Rogers, T'Challa and his family (Ramonda, Shuri, and yes even Hunter), I enjoyed his big brother type of relationship with Asira AKA Queen Divine Justice. His friendship with Everett Ross in the comics (which I kind of miss). His frenemy relationship with Namor is kind of interesting too.
Favorite headcanon: T'challa exudes confidence and coolness but I imagine he internally freaks out about some things but he's just THAT good at hiding it. He is a bit of a momma's boy. He is angry about Hunter being such a difficult asshole because part of him really wanted to have a normal sibling relationship with him (he might have bonded with Thor over that at some point when Loki was still evil). There are moments he wishes he wasn't King of Wakanda because the responsibility is that great and he wishes to have more freedom. He's very much a tea kind of guy.
Thor
First impression: He popped up in some of the Marvel cartoons that I saw and I just thought he talked funny and like most of the Avengers back then I was vaguely aware of him.
Impression now: I love Thor, I went and did a deep dive of all his comics and he’s a character I really love.
Favorite moment: Various moments from the Walt Simonson run. Like his talk with Jorgumandr before they fought was interesting. How after he literally became a puddle of ashes from how many times the Destroyer kept zapping him trying to kill him(he was unable to die because of a curse from Hela) his spirit jumps into the Destroyer, he goes to Hela's Domain and harasses her until she lifts the curse and returns him to normal. The scene from Thor: Heaven and Earth were he reads a dying Catholic Priest his last rites. Every time he earthbends or shows he's Gaea's son is a pretty cool scene.
Idea for a story: A story were Thor meets his mom's side of the family and acknowledges them as family. Like Gaea is the Earth Goddess in every pantheon and pretty much gave birth to almost every God and Goddess on Earth and is related to them (this would makes Zeus Thor’s nephew and the Hawaiian Goddess Pele his half-sister). I still wonder why no one has made that story (lets face it the whole Phoenix thing? It's going to get retconned).
Unpopular opinion: While Donald Blake isn't necessary for Thor's story now I feel that making him into a different person and not Thor takes a lot of Thor's character and kind takes away an important part of Thor. Mainly the idea that when given a new clean slate in life and being reborn as a mortal, Thor chooses to become a healer. If Blake is a fake person that Odin made (and ugh the whole thing is convoluted now because of it) and Thor never did anything it makes no sense. But the way I see it Odin lied about making Blake out of nothing and he just separated Thor's mortal side from him as a way to take Thor's attachment to Earth. it would explain why Blake is acting the way he is and why Thor has been written as such a jerk lately. I also don’t care for the angry violent Viking portrayal that some writers do with him.
Favorite relationship: Thor and Loki, because the most interesting and complex relationship both of those characters have is with each other (I have a tag for them). I also like Thor's relationship with Steve Rogers who is his favorite mortal alongside Jane. I also like Thor's relationship with Balder (who is also his brother and needs to come back), Sif, and the Warriors Three. I also loooooove Thor and Beta Ray Bill.
Favorite headcanon: I think Thor likes to read books and has some of his own geeky interests that stayed with him from the time he was living as Don.

After learning that Valhalla is kinda just Odins personal war team I don’t wanna go there when I die ngl like I have nothing personal against Odin but it’s kinda signified in the myths that he kidnapped and tortured Loki’s kids and with me while I don’t work with Hel, Sleipnir, Jorgumandr or Fenrir I have a certain amount of love and respect for them and I don’t tolerate ppl talking shit about them so yeah, I’d rather just when I die spend forever with those I love hopefully that includes Loki.

The thought occurred to Loki that the Hunter was telling the truth, that he himself was behind it all, that one of his other selves existing in another timeline was orchestrating something that called for Jack to stay alive and Adam to be present. Even Adam had sussed to that. He looked over at his father in law and felt a shiver of something unpleasant ripple through him.
Revulsion? Pity? An uncertain trust that bordered on that intensely disquieting knowledge that sometimes you just need a certain person's skills to pull your ass out of the fire? He could still smell the singe of ash and molten metal clinging to the ass in question. Adam's didn't smell much more welcoming. Brimstone might have suited his offspring but fortunately for all of them this wasn't a timeline that involved any of his darkside progeny, and wasn't that just a stroke of luck for everyone involved.
Jorgumandr would have enjoyed this. Too much, perhaps. Hela too. Fenrir would have just eaten them all long ago and curled up for a nap in a corner somewhere.
And Eirik...
Well, his mother breathed fire, so there was that.
Chapter 63 is up!
(will add tag list later - please reblog if you can, thanks!)

thor/ loki medieval/fantasy AU!!
Ohh, so many ways to go here! medieval/fantasy offers a wide range of possibilities :-D
Okay, I think I’m gonna go Arthurian-ish with this one, with lots of Fair Folk mythology thrown in. Warnings for dub-con and magicy pseudo incest.
So, we’ve god King Odin and his two sons Thor and Loki, but there’s all sorts of rumors that Loki is a Changeling--his black hair when both parents and his brother are blond (I’m ignoring MCU verse Hela for this) is purty suspicious. And turns out...yeah. He’s totally a Changeling. EXCEPT, Odin actually voluntarily traded his younger son Baldur to the Fairy Queen Laufey (yes, queen, fight me) in exchange for their kingdom’s wealth and prosperity.
But Laufey’s playing a long con here, and starts visiting Loki in his dreams, cultivating his magic and resentment. Now, Loki’s been in love with Thor for a while, and he doesn’t know they’re not actually related, so he’s pretty freaked about it. In actuality, Laufey made certain he’d feel this way, and that Thor would feel similarly, by weaving their fates together when they were infants. He then teaches Loki shape shifting, and subtly manipulates Loki into seducing Thor while disguised as a woman...a woman who tells Thor her name is Agrboda (see where I’m going with this?) Thor and “Agrboda” continue having an affair. Sometimes Agreboda disappears for a while, but Thor never thinks much about it. The truth is, sometimes Loki gets pregnant, and each time, he calls to Laufey who brings him to the fairy world to give birth and keeps the child there. Somehow one day Loki is discovered in Thor’s bed (accidentally shifts back in the night? Some magic catch he forgot about?) Thor is horrified, even tho he’s also had feelings for Loki this whole time, freaks out, tells Odin, and Loki gets banished. Thor feels bad and misses him, but kind of figures it may be for the best, considering.
Anyway, Odin dies and Thor takes the throne, ushering in a golden age just as he was prophesied to (yeah, there’s a prophecy. And probably a bit about him lifting a magic hammer too, y’know the drill), marries Sif. Then one day, Loki shows up...with Thor’s children in tow: Fenrir, Jorgumandr, and Hela. And also a huge ass fairy army led by Laufey. See, Laufey couldn’t cross over into the mortal realm on her own, she needed a gate opened, a gate that could only be opened by creatures of mixed fairy and mortal blood.
Big battle, Asgard gets destroyed. Loki has a change of heart at the last minute but it’s too late, Thor has already been killed. He weeps over the body and lays thor to rest holding his hammer in a tomb somewhere, the location lost to time. (hey, it ain’t based on Arthurian legend if it doesn’t end in tragedy).

Can't really take Jorgumandr on any trips, Fenrir is currently held up due to his want to swallow suns... but Sleipnir is free, just not in December, he is on vacation as 'Santa' and his 'Eight Reindeer' deliver presents.
I wonder if Thor has pulled out a family portrait album with the Avengers yet and has sat there explaining why the fuck he’s got a horse, serpent, and wolf for nephews
Like, there’s pictures of them framed on his mantle and Tony just thinks they’re weird alien pets or something and Thor is like “Nay, those are my nephews. Are they not most intimidating?”
And the Avengers are like

Power Set
((Due to the vague nature of Loki’s powers circa MCU, Mun is detailing HCs of them here.))
SHAPESHIFTING:
Probably one of Loki’s primarily used abilities. Used in stealth and combat. He can’t shift into a shape he hasn’t himself seen and isn’t more or less familiar with.
Common shapes include:
Snake. Most frequent, notably has a silver tongue.
Spider. Green spots on the back. About as large as a Tarantula.
Vulture. Black. Green eyes.
Cat. Black. Green eyes, white patch on the stomach.
Wolf. Very large, black and silver, green eyes, shaggy coat.
Humans. Varied. Can take the shape of anyone he’s met, though doesn’t change abilities proportionately.
The Great Serpent. His strongest shapeshifting ability-- hard to maintain, hard to pull off. A massive serpent nearly the size of a building, something like a Chinese dragon. Reminiscent of Jorgumandr.
ILLUSION vs. CONJURATION:
The schools of magic Loki is most familiar with. His illusions are capable of being more grand-- giant monsters, armies, clones. But these aren’t real, and can be dismissed either by ‘disbelief’ or total loss of concentration.
Conjuration takes a good deal more power: Loki is able to conjure things through transportation; creating a real book by knowing of its location and magically transporting it to where he is, commonly seen as conjuration. He does this most frequently with his weapons.
He is capable of conjuring certain things out of nothing: primarily monsters. Examples include his ‘children’ Jorgumandr, Fenris, Sleipnir, etc. This requires the most of his power, can only be done extremely rarely (every few years), and is generally done as a ritual. Once the beast is conjured, it cannot be dismissed.
MENTAL INVASION:
The ability to delve into another’s memories. Loki cannot control minds on his own, but he is capable of reading them if enough effort is put through. He cannot tell thoughts but can re-live memories. This requires physical contact.
He doesn’t frequently use this power, maybe out of its generally violent outcomes, or because it is actually very cruel.
Seen in Thor: Ragnarok.
STRENGTH AND SPEED:
Greatly increased versus that of an average mortal. Speed is more so. Also heightened is his durability, reflexes, and reaction time. For example: not enough to pick up a truck, but enough to pick up a big motorcycle.
DURABILITY AND REGENERATION:
Like all Asgardians as well as Jotuns, Loki has a much faster healing period to most injuries than any mortal. Most blunt force that would be lethal to mortals is inconvenient to him, while piercing damage is generally shrugged off until a later date. Loki could and has survived with deep injuries for long periods of time before he seeks medical attention.
Wounds also regenerate much faster, some even healing in a matter of days.
