"The Targaryen babes wouldn't sleep without the hatchlings, it was immediately found out. They would cry for each other immediately, and so it was that no one would dare part them. Princess Rhaenyra would always sleep with her hands clasped around the wing thumbs of the hatchlings on either side of her - it would later be said she was impatient to ride a dragon from birth. She was noted to always sleep near the hatchling of brilliant silver with violet crests, wings, and horns that would be come to known as Daenyxes, The Silver Queen - named for her beloved mother, Queen Daenerys I Targaryen. Prince Aemon would always rest with his head upon the indigo and bronze hatchling named Nightweaver - their bond was evident from this alone but they would become the subject of one of the most beloved songs in all of Westeros, originally written and sung by his younger sister, Princess Daenys. The youngest of the triplets was a restless sleeper, often moving and crying in the night. She would seek comfort from the hatchlings around her and easily find it, most diligently by the violet and copper hatchling, Dreamflame - named for the she-dragon Dreamfyre of House Targaryen who had laid the eggs to one day hatch Rhaegal, Viserion, and Drogon. Dreamflame would often wrap herself around the whimpering babe, calming her back into a sound slumber.

Bloodwrath, as the red and gold hatchling would eventually come to be called, would wake at the slightest stir with suspicious hissing and spread his wings in defense if it proved to be a cat or mouse. Joraxes, the deep green and black hatchling named after Ser Jorah the Andal, would often sleep wrapped around the sky blue and pale silver, named Barrax after Ser Barristan Selmy. And the beautiful Soulfyre, with bronze scales that faded into gold wings and crests, and ethereal eyes the color of milk and honey, would often captivate the Targaryen babes with even his most minor movements, shining brilliantly even in the dark of the royal nursery at night. A grand royal painting was commissioned of the sleeping newborn prince and princesses with their hatchlings that would hang in the nursery of Dragonstone."

literally so done with rhaegar antis at this point. we know practically nothing about this character besides all the good things other characters say about him and the fact that robert baratheon hates him and says things about rhaegar that ned disagrees with. and robert baratheon is a pos so being hated by him only does favors for rhaegar’s character imo.

but somehow all these characters who think well of rhaegar are just lying. even though almost all of the characters who have spoken/thought well of rhaegar come from different families and have different allegiances. make it make sense. explain it to me like i’m five. what do jamie and ned have to gain by thinking positively about rhaegar? what about jorah? and barristan?

seriously. stop with the “prophecy obsessed freak” and the “rhaegar was mad” bs. none of this is supported in the books.

for 1) the prophecy is real! this is a fantasy series! and it’s very likely that jon snow (his likely son) is one of the azor ahai/prince that was promised figures! the other completely certain azor ahai figure is his own sister! so yes this prophecy seems to be centered around rhaegar’s family.

2) rhaegar being “mad” is not supported whatsoever. prophecies and magic are very real in asoiaf. so believing/trying to figure out prophecies is not an act of a madman. if anything, we should praise rhaegar for having the foresight to be actively concerned about this world ending threat! he was right. and one mention, if not the first mention, of the song of ice and fire comes from a vision in the house of the undying… from rhaegar. please remember what the title of this series is…

now, it is fair to criticize rhaegar for how he treated elia at the tourney at harrenhall. he was wrong there and that was a terrible thing to do to elia. however, saying that rhaegar was awful to elia throughout their whole marriage is not supported. and saying that rhaegar was awful to his children is not supported at all.

also, getting angry at a fictional character for needing a son to secure the succession to the throne is hilarious, especially since it was necessary for not just rhaegar, but also for elia to secure their own positions at court. they both needed a male heir, but elia needed to have a son more than rhaegar to secure her position. so why are people so mad that rhaegar and elia had aegon? andal tradition says that a son comes before a daughter and a daughter before an uncle… but aerys had viserys to threaten rhaegar with because aerys was king and had the power to change the succession. having aegon was very important for both rhaegar and elias futures and protected rhaenys position as well. just look at what happened to alys karstark when all of her male brothers were gone. she was almost usurped by her uncle. do you really think aerys would let the throne pass to a girl? aerys??

anyways, we don’t know enough about rhaegar and elias relationship to actually make any concrete statements about them, but, from danys house of the undying vision of rhaegar and (likely) elia, their relationship seemed fine and they seemed open with each other. not every marriage of duty ends in nedcat and five kids, but their marriage was clearly far from the robert and cersei nightmare.

another thing rhaegar antis love to harp about is how he is a pedophile. i’m literally so sick of it. rhaegar, someone who seemingly struggled with some form of depression, finally found some joy outside of a marriage of duty. the author himself called rhaegar a love struck prince. ned never thinks ill of rhaegar, even though if the stories robert baratheon would have us believe were true then ned would be the first character who thinks rhaegar is some sort of monster. but ned doesn’t. back to the pedo argument… anyways i have issues with the age gap as well. but i know where to lay my criticism. with george. he’s weird about ages and it pisses me off. however, i won’t let this change the way i see a character, especially since westeros doesn’t have any age of consent laws.

god just criticize george already.

but to be clear, rhaegar, a tragic character who died trying to protect his family, who’s daughter hid underneath his bed for protection, is not some monster. he was born in grief, lived in grief, found some joy, and died whispering the name of the woman he loved. that’s sad. and it’s horrible that he’s blamed for his family’s deaths even though he fought and died trying to protect them. and then robert baratheon sat on his throne and drunk and whored the realm into debt. thank you mr. boar. and good riddance. cersei slayed with this one.

now if you want to blame someone for the war and what came after, then blame aerys for his cruelty. blame brandon for his foolishness. blame robert for his warmongering. blame tywin for his monstrous actions. blame gregor and amory for their terrible violence.

stop blaming the guy who died trying to protect his loved ones.

and tbh, we literally have so little knowledge of what happened before the rebellion and after harrenhall. we just don’t know what happened between rhaegar and lyanna besides what george has told us and whatever small scraps we get in the book. we don’t know if it was a rash decision or if there was some plan in place when rhaegar and lyanna ran off. we just don’t know.

so please stop treating your headcanons like canon facts. especially when your headcanon isn’t supported anywhere in the books! it’s so tiring to see! i get it! you hate this character! whatever! but stop acting like what you’re saying is canon!

rhaegar is simply a ghost haunting the narrative. but his legacy lives on in dany and (likely) jon. and both of them are saviors fighting the good fight. and based on the descriptions we have of rhaegar, i can say that he’s likely very proud of his sister and son.

for a few moments, there is the only the sound of footsteps and sir jorah's breathing lapping against obsidian stone. the girl inclines her head towards the woman to her left dressed in simple but official garments of black and red, who promptly nods, and begins to speak her rehearsed lines: you are standing in the presence of daenerys stormborn of house targaryen, queen of the andals and the rhoynar and the first men, khaleesi of the great grass sea, princess of dragonstone, rightful heir to the iron throne, protector of the realm, breaker of chains, the mother of dragons.

as misanndei voice quiets, as the man stops short of the steps to her throne, daenerys can hear the beating of wings far above dragonstone and smiles. her children, home at last. " which lord or lady has sent you to bend the knee on their behalf? " when she speaks, the room falls silent, the air thick with the weight of her words & for a moment, sir jorah swears the great hall is a cold as the land beyond the wall. " or, are you a lord yourself, come to disavow the usurpers and swear fealty to house targaryen? "

STANDARD BIO:

Ser Jorah Mormont is an exiled knight in the service of Daenerys Targaryen and the son of Jeor Mormont of the Night's Watch. To fund his wife's extravagant lifestyle, he sold poachers on his land to slave traders, which is illegal in the Seven Kingdoms.

DEVELOPMENTAL BIO:

Jorah Mormont is an exiled knight, the former head of the House Mormont seated on Bear Island. He's the son of the Lord Commander of The Night's Watch, Jeor Mormont. He was exiled by Eddard Stark for slaving.

Jorah served honorably during the Greyjoy Rebellion, and he was rewarded with knighthood for his service. Following the victory at Pyke, King Robert Baratheon declared a great tournament was to be held at Lannisport, which Jorah entered. He rode brilliantly during the tournament, unhorsing some of the greatest knights in Westeros; including Lords Whent, Mallister and Royce. On the eve of his final tilt with the other finalist, Ser Jaime Lannister, he asked Lynnese Hightower, by all accounts a beautiful lady from the Reach for her favour, which she granted. In the final tilt, Ser Jorah unhorsed Ser Jaime, and was pronounced tournament champion. Lord Leyton Hightower then agreed to let his daughter marry Ser Jorah.

Following their return to Bear Island it became clear that Lynnese was not comfortable in the rough and cold North, and Jorah had to constantly pay for luxuries he could not afford. He could not afford jewels, entertainers, and constant transportation to Lannisport. Finally bankrupt, he attempted to sell a few poachers he had caught to some slavers, and was sentenced to death for this act. He left Westeros to avoid his fate at the hands of Ned Stark. Lynnese has forsaken him and is now head concubine for a merchant prince.

Jorah originally joins Daenerys Targaryen, Viserys Targaryen and Khal Drogo's khalasar to secretly report everything that happens to them to Westeros. After he notifies Westeros that Daenerys is pregnant, Robert Baratheon offers a prize for her death. Varys sends Jorah a warning that an assasination attempt is imminent. After he stops a wineseller's attempt to murder Daenerys at a market, Jorah continues to protect Daenyerys. He also stops Viserys from stealing her dragon eggs, and kills the bloodrider Qotho in order to save her.

Ser Jorah Mormont, Jorah the Andal, Ser Bezoar. "The common people pray for rain, healthy children and a summer that never ends. It is no matter to them if the high lords play their game of thrones, so long as they are left in peace. They never are." A wise quote for a complicated character. One gets the feeling that the author's opinion on Jorah soured along with that of the audience. He goes through hell in the back half of the series, and we're left to wonder if he deserves it. If anyone does. Whether or not he's learned anything from his tribulations is the real question.

What fandoms do you write for? When I hopped from FF over to A03, my fandoms changed, but far and away for the Jorleesi fandom (Game of Thrones), with HP and Peaky Blinders as one offs

What are your top 5 fics by kudos? Leading by an enormous amount (thank you PB fandom) is 'The Other Shelby Girl', then my Jorleesi royalty AU 'The One Who Loves Her The Most', my Blue Room fever dream 'A Darker shade of Blue', a modern HP love story with an OC 'How To Be A Heartbreaker', and wrapping up with my Jorleesi regency AU 'A Decent Proposal'

Do you respond to comments? Always, to the best of my ability. And I try and leave comments on anything I am reading. I am a firm, staunch believer in that we do fic in community. If we don't know our peers are reading and enjoying, then the community aspect is gone. I try and walk the walk always.

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I don't really do angsty at the end. These are all happy endings at heart. But I do have one WIP that will have an angsty ending.

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Likely a tie between 'From Egypt, With Love' and 'How To Be A Heartbreaker'

Do you get hate on fics? Not so much on A03 as FF, thank goodness. A03 y'all are nicer!

Do you write smut? I attempt. Jury is out on whether any of it is good :)

Do you write crossovers? Nah...but never say never

Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not yet (fingers crossed)

Have you ever had a fic translated? I have! It was the nicest surprise to see. I've also had people make fan art I had no idea about which was cool to stumble across

Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes - Will You Be My Valentine with fanoftheknight on A03. They are amazing and my depression kinda caused me to drop the ball on that one -_-. Totally willing to pick it up again or collab with others!

What's your all-time favorite ship? This is a hard one. Han/Leia originally got me into fic, but my biggest body of work and my favorite fandom has to be the Jorleesi ship

What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I'll finish all of them mark my words! Just will take me some time.

What are your writing strengths? I'm not quite sure! I think I do AU's well, and I bring some witty dialogue into my writing

What are your writing weaknesses? Losing the plot sometimes!

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I'd be open to it, but there hasn't been a case where it would have served a story well

First fandom you wrote for? Star Wars and Harry Potter around the same time
