alright y’all, gather round
Jeeves and Wooster Beauty and the Beast AU where Bertie is the Beast and instead of being mean to Jeeves (Belle), he’s just a clumsy dummy who happens to create loud crashing noises that scare people. He didn’t kidnap anyone but instead had them as invited guests but misunderstanding led to them thinking he was terrifying. So when Jeeves comes, Bertie tries to hide himself away thinking that it’ll just be like every other time and (spoilers) it’s not.
Uncle Tom is Cogsworth and Uncle George is Lumière. Aunt Dahlia is Mrs. Potts and they’re scheming to break the curse so they don’t have to be objects anymore and the other objects in the castle are some members of the Drones (like Gussie is Chip). The previous people that Bertie “kidnapped” are the fiancés and Gaston/the rest of the townspeople are members of the Ganymede club, fiancés, and families of the fiancé.
The witch is obviously Aunt Agatha.

I've just had a Jeeves and Wooster fic idea where in one of his many near-brushes with het™ marriage, Bertie consults Jeeves and he says he has given the matter some thought and has a suggestion which will close the lid on any unwanted marriages for the foreseeable future but he isn't sure whether Bertie will like it. Bertie, seeing that Jeeves' brain is so revved up that he's come up with a long-term scheme, naturally says he doesn't care if it involves running for Prime Minister and that he's all for it because it's bound to be a winner.
Jeeves' suggestion? Bertie announces that he has found a life partner and that it's...Jeeves. The idea being that homophobic and/or classist aunts like Aunt Agatha, to avoid scandal might leave him well alone (after a denouncement obviously) but they aren't likely to go traipsing all over the place announcing it. Anyone else will naturally just take it in stride.
Bertie obviously pales at the idea and it takes a lot of convincing and trying to solve it by himself leading to deeper soup etc but eventually sees reason and sort of goes through with it but he knows he doesn't actually feel so keenly for the poor chap...or does he? The most rather annoying thing is that he doesn't know what Jeeves thinks about the whole thing. I mean, he bally well suggested it but how is he taking it, this epitome of the feudal spirit. Sure he reads quite a lot of Mrs. Little née Banks but does he really believe all that stuff? And, for that matter, does Bertie?
And the whole book people are just treating it normal like Catsmeat saying he knew all along and that one rather spots the way he looks at Jeeves sometimes and maybe Tuppy saying Bertie just wants to keep the old size 17 brain within the family or Madeline Basset talking soppily about Bertie finally finding his one true love and how couldn't she have seen it all along and maybe the Drone's Club hosting a bachelor party for him and other such shenanigans.

I am belatedly starting to work on the outline for my planned sequel to Jeeves & the Thorny Hedge, and while I have some pretty clear ideas about where I want to go, I'm also curious to know what y'all are the most interested in. So, tell me:

Get to know your (much beloved) fic writer!
# 4, 11, 16, 55?
(Obligatory your hilson breathes life into me every single day and I have reread them all a million times except for the ones I haven’t read yet bc I’m saving them so I don’t run out! 🥰🥰🥰 thank you for writing!!)
aww thank youuu and thank you extra for the ask!!
4. Where do you find inspiration for new ideas?
Re-watching canon always inspires show-specific stuff! And engaging with different media more broadly cross-pollinates in a cool way, like my yearly watch of Groundhog Day inspired TGIF, and seeing a random wedding-themed romance novel on the library shelves made me think "maybe this wedding planner plot bunny could be a whole story!"
11. Link your three favorite fics right now
(wording is ambiguous so I'm listing three of my own, because I barely read any fic when I'm in writing mode ahhh sorry 🙈)
TGIF - I am still so proud of this world. maybe I'm the one trapped in the time loop...
Adventures in Polyamory - I have 30k of the sequel written god Amber I am thinking about you all the timeeee
A Study in Lavender - I am also trying to finish the sequel to my Jooster fic feat. lesbian OCs before the summer's over wish me luck!!!
16. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Share one of them?
Oh, so many! *Counts documents in House MD folder* oh kay oh jeez there are fully twelve story ideas that are developed enough that I'll probably write them at some point 😵‍💫 Let's see, which one have I maybe not teased before... aha! Femslash Hilson AU. I love this framework so much more than old school "genderswap" which has always, for me, come with icky binary straight transphobic connotations (though of course that is not necessarily the case and people have written cool trans stuff under this label!)
Here's a quick teaser from the sapphic New Orleans opening meet-up:
“As you will soon learn, if you aren’t bright enough to have picked up on it already…” House slung an arm around Wilson’s narrow shoulders, “I’m not like most people. Give me the gruesome deets. But no tears, please, I’m squeamish.”
“You’re a total bitch,” Wilson marveled.
“Now, you’re getting it.”
Wilson put her arm suddenly—bravely—around House’s waist. “Buy me a drink. I’ll tell you the whole tragic story, and only cry if you get on my nerves.”
55. Of the characters you write for, which is your favorite? Has that choice been swayed at all by your followers/readers' reactions to certain ones?
Super basic, but it's House! He wears his weirdness on his sleeve to hide the different, more painful weirdness inside. It's a like a delicious Ferrero Rocher of psychoses <3 The way he processes and interacts with the world continues to fascinate, and on a personal/political level, I just adore getting to write a character with chronic pain like me.
Wilson is also fascinating, but I think I like to write him from an outside perspective/House's perspective best. Seeing juuuust enough through his mask of normalcy to know he's Not Alright, but still maintaining a sense of inner mystery. I've had a lot of very kind feedback on how I write Wilson, which encourages me to keep writing him even weirder and more unwell, which is delightful 💖

Hello! I just wanted to say, I was browsing old Indeedsir posts as is my wont, and I came across your Meet the Family fic, and I really really love it and have read it multiple times. It's still open in a tab on my phone right now. I like Rebecca, she feels like a fleshed out real person and a believable Jeeves relative. I love outsider POV fics where you have to read between the lines, and I think you did that really well in that Rebecca doesn't have the information to understand straight away what she's seeing, but we understand perfectly what's going on between J and B. The contrast between her (understandable) assumptions about how a rich employer would be expected to treat her brother and what becomes clear is the actual reality is so !!!! The way she describes the way Reginald talks about Bertie makes me feral. She thinks Bertie is an idiot but we know he's just babbling because he's nervous about meeting Reg's family!! I adore the way Bertie and Reg are clearly communicating with each other nonverbally from the moment they get there. The moment where Jeeves looks at Bertie chidingly and Rebecca assumes there's no way Bertie could have picked up on it, but then she realizes he looks contrite made me want to scream!!! BEST moment (and there were a LOT of great moments). I love love love your characterization of Bertie, the way he's brilliant in his own way and shows hints of hidden vulnerabilities and is just INCANDESCENTLY in love with Jeeves. The way he tells the swan story oh my god!! (it's funny how we were just talking about that on that tumblr post recently!) Some of the dialogue made me laugh out loud.
There's so much more I want to say but I'm actually not sure how long asks are allowed to be, and I don't know if you even check LJ anymore and I honestly can't figure out how LJ works anyway, but if you ever saw your way to posting it on AO3 I would love to comment on it. I want to write a book report on it. I want to put it in a blender and drink it. I want to boil it down to a tincture and sprinkle drops of it on everything. It's SO GOOD.
Oh, wow. First of all, I am relatively new to tumblr and I don't know how to answer asks other than publicly, so hopefully this is all right! And no, I haven't logged into LJ in over a decade and I have no idea how to do it anymore!
Thank you so much. It's incredible to get any kind of feedback at all on a story I wrote fourteen years ago, but especially getting feedback like this is just incredible. I was (obviously) a much younger and less experienced person when I wrote my little smattering of Jeeves and Wooster fics, and though I have thought of them from time to time I didn't really have the courage to go back and read them again until you wrote to me.
Thank you for reaching out, for opening that door again. I spent last night rereading my Jooster stuff from when I was in my early twenties and it felt like reconnecting with a version of myself I'd almost forgotten. I never really thought about posting my old stuff on AO3, but I'm going to consider it. I will let you know if I do. I remember at the time I intended this particular story to be a part of a series, and I actually have half a chapter each of a story from the perspective of Bertie's sister (that mysterious person!), and Jeeves' uncle Charlie that I was going to add. Maybe I'll dust those off and try to finish them! I also happen to be a huge sucker for outsider POV, so it would be a lot of fun to play around with that series again.
Finally, I am so deeply pleased that you enjoyed it. I know anyone who produces art of any kind hopes that they can make some connection with someone or bring some joy into the world, and it absolutely delights me to know that something I wrote made you happy for a while. I appreciate your generosity in writing to me. Readers like you make writing so much better. People like you make life better.
And yes, it's so funny that we were talking about the swan thing like three days ago. I had forgotten I wrote that same sentiment in a fic a decade and a half ago. I guess none of us change as much as we think we do!
Thank you again. You've made my day, maybe week, maybe month.

hi i just saw your post in the jeeves and wooster tag and was wondering if you were still going to write that fic because i'm super interested in reading it!!!
Tumblr media
Surprisingly, I was visited by a couple of Joosters today! It is very funny that I got two different asks about the same thing lol.
But, to be frank, I don't have any plans for writing it right now, sorry! Most of what I write depends on what I'm currently into at the moment. (Which right now, happens to be OFMD and WWDITS 2014 just as the rest of Tumblr) And also, I happen to be quite busy as well, so I can really work on one thing at a time.
But I do have it in mind for later! (Maybe sometime like later in this year or early next year?) It is an interesting idea and I would definitely like to write it! Thank you for letting me know that all y'all would like to read it - I'll def try to get off my butt and work on it if I feel like it. But no promises!
Do check out some other awesome as heck Jooster writers: @ladykeane (who has written the wonderful Bertie's Blog) and @justusmice (who used to write Jooster) Give them a read if you haven't! They're extremely brilliant and some of my fav.

are there any jooster fake dating fics... I can't stop thinking about them shaking off one of bertie's betrothals by giving them the idea that bertie's gay but obviously it would get very tangled because only some people could be allowed to know about it (unless it's some kind of homophobia free au lol) which would involve a canon-typical level of confusion and idiocy

okay, may be reading jooster fics before going to sleep was not one of my brigtest ideas, because I ended up sketching Bertie in outfits from the tv series (I was not aiming for Laurie’s vibe to him tho) and Bertie Making A Move - and got zero sleep because of it you know, prioritizing

My ships, in chronological order:
Elizabeth Bennet/Fitzwilliam Darcy: my first ship ever, got me into fanfiction and I’m fairly sure it also caused my hormonal awakening. 10/10. problem: the novel and various adaptations pretty much said everything that needs to be said. Nowadays if I read P&P fanfiction is mostly about Mary, because Lizzy and Darcy’s story is already complete.
Jack Harkness/Ianto Jones (Janto): helped me bunches to come to terms with my bisexuality, hot as hell, crazy talented writers, also improved my English a LOT. problem: I’ve read so much fanfiction better than the actual series, which turned me off Torchwood--honestly, great idea, great characters, shitty execution.
Bertie Wooster/Reginald Jeeves (Jooster): TOP NOTCH ship, the cat’s nightswear. Witty, lovingly written, the fandom small but super smart, GREAT fic, so hot, so many angles, the series is fabulous and the writing gives me a readgasm every time. 100/100 would recommend. (I also met my first girlfriend through it). Problem: the fandom is not very active these days, it’s heyday was a couple years before I got into it. But as a plus, NO DISCOURSE WHATSOEVER seriously it’s great. Anyone knows good Jooster blogs to rec me?
Buffy Summers/Spike (Spuffy): oh man, so much My Thing it’s not even funny. I’m really, REALLY into the *I would die for you and my devotion knows no limits and you love me too but your Duty or unique situation is too big for you to love me back unreservedly like I do*, which was also part of my attraction to Janto. So, so hot. Cons: the fandom spends a loot of time shitting on Every Other Character, various fandom drama type things, there’s a big thing about Buffy being a poor hapless thing at the mercy of the Bigoted Scoobies, which... please no. I found great friends through it though, and it’s still a fun and exciting fandom to be in.
Rey/Ben Solo-Kylo Ren (Reylo): Well, their chemistry in The Last Jedi blew me away, but the fandom is one of the worst toxic cesspools I’ve ever been it so... 5/10 I guess? So far I’m really into it, but I predict it won’t last too long, unless I become really really good at policing my dashboard and block with no mercy.
