Watching Apple’s The Family Plan tonight and Jonny Coyne is in it as a spy-baddie. The man is a phenomenal actor, but especially in movie like this, I’m never going to NOT see Ian Garvey 😭

We all have dreams and passions, those grand gestures that we would give back to the world if we just had a little more in terms of resources, energy, or anything else for that matter. Maybe these great works just need a little time, and maybe the technology just isn’t there yet. When the time does come, will the world be ready? In 2010, famed Russian director Andrei Konchalovsky finally got the…

Jordan Reeder emailed a photo: "Hi Marc! It’s been so great hearing all of the independent artists you feature on the podcast. Thank you for what you all do and maybe one of these days I’ll submit some of my music for your enjoyment as well.
I’m blessed to have a job I love -  as a luthier at a music store in Kenosha WI. While I was working on this auto harp (just a cleaning and restringing as well as putting new support springs under some of the bars) I thought I should take a couple of pictures and send them your way. I thought you might appreciate it."
Donald W White emailed a photo from Oregon: "I'm painting  -  -  as usual.
I've appreciated Celtic music for a long time (loved Fiona Ritchie's former show on NPR  -  "Thistle & Shamrock"), but I just became a fan while sailing from Quebec to Boston. On a cruise ship of "old people," some amazing Canadian musicians (including Nova Scotia vilionist Hayley Ryerson) performed some raucous Celtic tunes from Cape Breton Island. I'm now hooked! Count me in.
Don White, A new fan from Oregon "
Wolbert van Wageningen emailed: "Hi Marc,
My name is Wolbert van Wageningen. I live in the North of the Netherlands. Several years ago I started listening to your Irish and Celtic Music Podcast. I liked it a lot because of all the independent music. But sometimes it was a bit too independent according to my taste. I forgot to listen regularly and it got out of sight and mind.
In the meantime I started working (volunteering) at a small regional broadcasting company in my hometown of Winsum. I got the possibility to make my own programmes and one of them I titled " Highlands and Islands" a reference to Scotland of course, but also a reference to the region where I live (het Hogeland  -  Highland) and the Waddensea with small islands.
Due to illness I was not able to make the show in our radiostudio, but my homestudio was good enough to make broadcastings. I started broadcasting at Mixcloud and posted my recordings there.
Looking for music I discovered your Irish and Celtic Music Podcast at Mixcloud. Nice surprise! Started listening again. Thought it would be nice to reach out to you. Want to make my compliments for your shows and your perseverance in making them. Way back you were in the 100 - 200 range; now almost 700!!
I promoted your show to my small group of listeners (Celtic Folk is not that big in the Netherlands) and will do so in the future.
Keep up the good work! Kind regards,"

Obviously, no matter how many movies I add to the list, I know dozens of more films will be announced and released throughout the year. Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom is one of them. I didn’t know a thing about this flick, but it received the always interesting awards buzz, which turned it into a mandatory viewing before Christmas comes around. I went in knowing only one thing: this is Chadwick Boseman’s (Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War) last appearance after he passed away a few months ago. I really didn’t know what to expect from this Netflix’s Oscar-bait, but I was afraid that Boseman’s nomination chances were high only due to what happened in real-life instead of him truly deserving that recognition… Well, I can safely and confidently write that Boseman delivers his career-best interpretation, and it wouldn’t be unfair for him to get tons of awards posthumously. From an impeccable accent to his mind-blowing emotional range, passing through long monologues and uncut takes effortlessly, Boseman is the strong glue that holds everything in place. What seems, at first, a hangout movie (narrative without a clear central plot) turns into a character-study. Levee wants to follow his dreams, do what he does best in his own conditions and with his personal interpretation of music and soul. Boseman incorporates this character seamlessly, delivering a memorable performance that I hope will be remembered as a worthy Oscar winner if this situation ends up becoming true. Even though Boseman is the actor that shines brighter, every single one is absolutely outstanding. Viola Davis shares the main spotlight with him by representing the (real-life) iconic blues singer, Ma Rainey. To be completely honest, I didn’t know who this singer was nor how she impacted soul music. Ruben Santiago-Hudson first feature-film sc...

Peter Dinklage’s “Toxic Avenger”: Unleashing the Unreleasable
Tumblr media
The buzz around Peter Dinklage Toxic Avenger has been electric ever since the first teaser trailer dropped last October. You could almost smell the anticipation. Yet, like a bad case of toxic waste, the excitement has soured. According to recent reports, filmmaker Macon Blair's movie is currently deemed "unreleasable." What gives? https://youtu.be/1v8-tDbIy-8 Rumor has it that the commercial prospects for this reboot are just too "out there" for traditional theatrical release. Imagine that: a film too wild for the movies. It’s the cinematic equivalent of being too hot for TV. Despite positive reviews from various film festivals (a solid 92% on Rotten Tomatoes from 24 verdicts), the film can't find a distributor. It's like the cool kid at the party who still can't get a date. The Streamer Dump? If you’re hoping to catch Peter Dinklage in all his toxic glory on the big screen, don’t hold your breath. The word is that The Toxic Avenger might be offloaded to a streaming service or head straight to VOD. Filmmaker and producer Adam Masnyk took to Twitter (or is it X now?) to confirm that the film has been deemed "not safe enough to market." Translation: it’s just too darn gnarly. So, what’s all the fuss about? The Toxic Avenger follows Winston Gooze, a regular janitor who transforms into a monstrous hero after a toxic accident. Picture Peter Dinklage wielding a glowing mop with superhuman strength, trying to save his son and stop a corporate tyrant from wreaking havoc. It's got all the makings of a cult classic: gore, humor, and a healthy dose of satire. The ensemble cast includes Elijah Wood, Jacob Tremblay, Taylour Paige, Julia Davis, Jonny Coyne, and Kevin Bacon. If only someone would step up to release it. The Future Looks Murky With no confirmed release date, The Toxic Avenger remake seems to be in cinematic limbo. Could it become lost media, as some have suggested? It’s a sad fate for a film with so much potential and star power. Even an obscure streaming platform might be a stretch, considering the film's gory subject matter. Yet, if movies like In a Violent Nature can make it to theaters, there’s still hope for our toxic hero. A Bit of History For the uninitiated, The Toxic Avenger isn’t a new kid on the block. The original 1984 film, created by Lloyd Kaufman of Troma Entertainment, became a cult classic for its over-the-top violence and campy humor. The story of a bullied janitor who transforms into a radioactive superhero struck a chord with audiences, spawning sequels, a musical, and even a children’s cartoon. The reboot aims to bring this beloved character to a new generation, with Peter Dinklage stepping into the radioactive shoes. In conclusion, the fate of Peter Dinklage’s Toxic Avenger hangs in the balance. Will it find a home on a streaming service, or will it be lost to the annals of "unreleasable" films? Only time will tell. For now, fans can only wait and hope that this toxic tale gets the release it deserves.

Season 5 - ‘The Blacklist’ Star Megan Boone Says the Finale Brings the ‘Biggest Reveal’ Yet
Ileane RudolphMAY 15, 2018
Tumblr media
No one will ever say Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) leads an uneventful life.
In Season 5 of NBC’s The Blacklist, the FBI agent was violently widowed, went off the grid and to the dark side in Alaska, dissolved a bad guy in acid, met her hostile half sister and, finally, put down Ian Garvey (Jonny Coyne), the corrupt marshal who killed her husband, Tom (Ryan Eggold). We asked Boone what on earth is next.
Now that Garvey is dead, what’s driving Liz in the season finale?
Megan Boone: Liz still doesn’t know why Tom died. She’s racing Red [James Spader] to find out what’s in the duffel bag that’s so imperative for him to keep hidden. Tom risked and lost his life so she could know.
Will she hurt Red, even though he’s her father, to uncover his secret?
Their agendas put them at significant odds. She becomes more of a threat to Red as the episode progresses.
Does the FBI step in?
The task force has to make a choice, potentially risking the Blacklist and Red as their informant.
Will we — and Liz — learn whose bones are in the bag?
The audience will. It’s the biggest reveal we’ve ever had. You’ll look back at the entire series with new eyes.
Whoa!
It’s a huge turn in the mythology and at the heart of the biggest questions that have existed since the pilot. Fans will be stunned.
The Blacklist, Season Finale, Wednesday, May 16, 8/7c, NBC
