Any fans of Wardruna, Heilung or Jonna Jinton here? If you're into this kind of music, I'm sure you'd enjoy listening to "Excalibur" by Gealdýr! Original Old English lyrics: Excalibur, in stāne bid Swurd uncuþ, eald gewritu Eald swurd, weardian dagas, Unrīm gewāt Excalibur, in stāne bid Excalibur, in stāne bid Cempas cōmon, Ac ne mæg niman Nān ne mæg, Stān tō clēofan Excalibur, in stāne bid Excalibur, in stāne bid English translation: Excalibur, remains in stone A sword unknown, in ancient writings An ancient sword, to guard Days, countless passed Excalibur, remains in stone Excalibur, remains in stone Warriors came, but could not take No one can, cleave the stone Excalibur, remains in stone Excalibur, remains in stone

It’s Analysis Friday! Here’s some hidden symbolism via music in Frozen!
Tumblr media
Do you remember the majestic voice calling out to Elsa in Frozen II? It is called kulning, a Scandinavian form of singing used as a herding call, or for fun.
Able to bounce off mountains and travel far distances, shepherdesses (and a few shepherds) used this technique to call their livestock home, communicate with other shepherdesses, and locate lost animals.
But the craziest, coolest part? Many kulning songs were passed down by the family, or by previous shepherdesses. These special songs also often contained names of animals under their care.
The song we hear throughout the film is in every way kulning: it summons Elsa, who comes to the call; it carries far distances, of which have even been sealed off to the world; and it is passed down from mother to nature to daughter.

This is my version of the song from "Ronja Rövardotter / Ronia the robbers daugther" written by our most loved Swedish writer, Astrid Lindgren , whose books have been read all over the world. This song from the movie has always been very dear to me. For a long time now I wanted to make my own version of it, and make some small changes in the melody. What do you think? :) THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR WATCHING AND LISTENING! ♥ ~ Singer by Jonna Jinton

THE WOLF SONG - Nordic music - Vargsången
youtube
Lyrics: Translated by @cheltiaz
The wolf is howling in the woods of the night He want’s to, but cannot sleep
Hunger is tearing his wolven belly And in his lair it’s oh so cold
Oh wolf, oh wolf, do not come near You’ll never get hold of my child
Oh wolf, oh wolf, do not come near You’ll never get hold of my child…
The wolf is howling in the night’s woods, is howling, by hunger and sorrow
But I shall give him, the tail of a pig Because such fits, in the belly of wolves
Oh wolf, oh wolf, do not come near You’ll never get hold of my child
Oh wolf, oh wolf, do not come near You’ll never get hold of my child…
※ And this repeats a second time.
