"You'll never be good enough to be an Alpha." His father snares at him, the dim lighting casting harsh shadows over the man's face.

A proud Alpha from an ancient bloodline, Jongseok has worked hard to make sure his family continues leading the Crescent Moon pack. Blessed to have two sons, twin wolves with a telepathic connection, Jongseok was determined to make sure both his sons were the future of the pack.

However, the youngest, Jongin, ended up disappointing him again and again.

"You're weak. Nothing like your brother." The crack of the whip sounds and the lean boy kneeling on the ground, tries to shuffle back and away from the knotted tip of the leather bull whip. "You'll ruin the family name because you are far too weak, too soft."

The rain pours down making the ground muddy and slippery as Jongin tries to escape his father's wrath. "I'm sorry..."

After Jongin turned on his 15th birthday, a few years later than his brother, he began training to help him catch up to the level that he was at. This meant training with his father until his knuckles bled, this meant running until his lungs burned and he could barely walk, this meant Jongin pushed himself to the point of exhaustion constantly and yet, it was never good enough.

He was never good enough.

"Get. Up." The crack of the whip is drowned out by a roll of thunder, followed by lightning cutting through the sky, causing Jongin to flinch which only makes Jongseok angrier.

Push. Push. Push. This is all the father did to his son, he pushed him beyond his limits, not because he loved him but because he was ashamed of his son and the damage he'll bring the Alpha's reputation. "You will never be an Alpha. You will never be like your brother but you will be of some use to the pack."

Use, not a part of but use to the pack.

As Jongin got older, the training started getting more and more intense. His father had him fight against the biggest and strongest wolves he could to enhance his endurance and strength, made deals with hunters to use his son as target practice to increase his speed and agility and isolated him so that he'd learn to fend for himself. Jongin's gentle nature, his weakness, started to be hidden behind a steel wall of anger and hate for everything he was and stood for but even though he hated it - he couldn't disobey his Alpha.

Crack!

The boy flinches when the tip of the whip lands near him and he hears a low growl. "You are weak, flinching in the face of danger? Have you learned nothing that I've taught you?" Another crack of the whip lands, closer this time and Jongin backs away. "Get back here, boy!"

The moment the sting hits his back, the way his skin rips open as the sky lights up once more - Jongin blacks out.

Blood.

Piercing screams.

The smell of death causes Jongin to startle awake, mud and blood cakes his hair and skin as the metallic taste lingers in his mouth. His eyes are adjusting to the bright light. The night has given way to day and the rain has been chased away by the sun but the horrors of what happened sit with the boy as he searches for the scene he knows he'll find.

Dead.

His father, the Alpha of the pack, dead. Cold, lifeless eyes staring up at the blue sky could never be considered peaceful with blood splattered over his face.

He never stood a chance.

The boy clenches his chest as panic tries to grip his mind, tries to capture him and suffocate him from the inside out but he manages to push it. Shifting into a wolf is painless, it has been for a while now but it happens as naturally as breathing, and he starts to drag the body deeper into the forest where nobody will find it.

Bury the truth. Hide it away. Nobody can know what he's done, nobody can know otherwise he'll be thrown out - or worse.

Hours pass and the sun begins to disappear behind the trees by the time Jongin had finally covered the grave and collapsed to the ground, crying. Sobbing. Shaking in fear. He doesn't want to remember what happened, he doesn't know what triggered it, but the moment the whip touched his skin - his wolf took over and he was no longer in control.

"What do I do?" He mutters to himself, trying to figure out a story, one that'll be believable even though nobody would believe him.

Tell me darling, what do you desire?

A woman he had met at a bar the other week pops into his mind and Jongin remembers the insane claim she made about being the Devil. He doesn't believe in Heaven or Hell and he certainly doesn't believe the Devil was walking the Earth as a woman but he's desperate, alone, and has nobody else to turn to.

He'll be going to Hell for this anyway, so what would it hurt making a deal with the Devil?
