Inktober Day 16. More knotwork, loosely inspired by a piece done by Jonas Lau Markussen. We honor the Witch-Queen, Falcon-Cloaked Freyja! Relatively happy with this one. I really dig doing this kinda intricate knotwork play, both design and execution.

The thing about Ragnarök in mythology is that it is self fulfilling prophecy. Locking away Loki's children to prevent Ragnarok is what gave them the ability and motives to cause Ragnarok
ALSO
As Jessie mentioned in her video "The decaying monomyth of star wars":
"as the amazing Zoe B pointed out in her video on apocalypses until very recently stories and Myths of older civilizations were not about constant renewal of the same systems but of endings and complete changings apocalypse stories didn't represent the end of time but the end of the way things are now and something new would come along"
And you know what, an order that allows one man to banish and lock up, people that have not done anything (hela, fenris, Jormungandr)
Just becasue of what they MIGHT do potentially.
-> The entire X-men franchise is about why that is a bad idea and how that is a slippery slope ...
That order desreves to burn.
Good riddance
I definitely have problem with writers that keep saying 'he/she is evil from beginning ', emmm did that even know what is evil?
I meant there's wild and cruel since born you know animal like that but they not really evil, and there is some creatire that actually can't change because they CAN'T ,did that make they pure evil? No
The real definition of pure evil (in my way) is that you choose that, when there is other solution but you choose bad way because it was easy and fun.
Ught, I am really annoyed mcu keep saying loki is rot from born and it's inside his blood, really? No, he not evil from beginning if he pure evil since beginning thor already dead when he was child, no seriously they did really thinking when they said loki is evil since born, if loki ia eveil since born all Asgard are already dead before thor 1 exist. You know this is why you don't said evil to everyone because it make clouded your judgment.
The really ironic thing is Marvel still ended up making versions of Loki that show when given the freedom to be himself Loki just indulges in arts and simple pleasures without hurting anyone.
Time and again it shows that while Loki is not a pure innocent but his villainy is created by people basically pushing him to it either through their rejection of him or actively wanting Loki to be the villain so they can have an enemy to blame.
The thing about Ragnarök in mythology is that it is self fulfilling prophecy. Locking away Loki's children to prevent Ragnarok is what gave them the ability and motives to cause Ragnarok

Rune Art:
Markussen Younger Futhark Designs Part 1
The majority of rune art and designs uses twenty-four runes of the Elder Futhark. These delightful designs provide an unusual alternative using the sixteen Younger Futhark runes.
The designs were created by Danish graphic designer and information architecturalist Jonas Lau Markussen and all images are available from his website:

Now that the contest is almost over, I’d like to share my submission to the 2022 DBD Cosmetic contest. A bit more last minute than I would’ve liked, but it’s done! I made a skin for The Plague, inspired by Hel, a goddess of the dead in Scandinavian myth. She is associated with those who die of sickness or old age. She is described as being half alive and half rotting. (The dead half is described as being blue.) There’s a lot going on with her outfit so I’ll break it down beneath the cut.
The symbol on her deer skull mask is the Aegishjalmur, also known as the Helm of Awe or the Helm of Terror. This symbol can be found in the Icelandic Huld Manuscript and is mentioned in the Poetic Edda, the Codex Regius, and the Volsunga Saga. There are several versions of Aegishjalmur in the Huld Manuscript. One of them can be found on the forehead of the wolf skull on The Plague’s belt.
The wolf skull on her belt is representative of one of her siblings - Fenrir. The Plague’s necklaces are: a serpent torc (Jormungandr, her other sibling); two bead necklaces with teeth (representative of the four survivors she goes against); and a pendant of Loki (her father). The Loki necklace is based on a pendant found in Denmark.
You can see why I put this under a cut, right? Anyway, next up, the Younger Futhark runes. They’re from the Norwegian Rune Poem and describe the rune Kaun, which is also inscribed on the skull censer four times, but in Elder Futhark because it just looks better. Kaun translates as “sore” or “ulcer,” a fitting rune for the Plague.
The Norwegian Rune Poem excerpt reads:
Kaun er barna bǫlvan; bǫl gørver nán fǫlvan.
Ulcer [Kaun] is fatal to children; death makes a corpse pale.
Lastly, the Jelling knotwork on the robes. Full credit, although not required, goes to Jonas Lau Markussen. He doesn’t require credit if you purchase his work, which I did, but his stuff is so amazing that I had to give him a shout out anyway. You can buy his lovely pack of historically accurate knotwork styles for a tip of at least $5.

DIE MAENNER VON WEERDINGE by @swanfloatieknight
Summary
Two men were found preserved in an intimate embrace in a peat bog. This is the story of how they got there. Sad! MCD (obviously - spoiler - they die)
Binding
only 1k words. 20 pages including the cover.
Another adventure in “zine” style publishing for extremely short fics.
Title in Norse
Text in Garamond
Decorative elements from Jonas Lau Markussen and a Dover book
Printed on Neenah Astroparche Natural text and cover.
Hand sewn in red thread.
Date completed: August 2020

I have been a fan of Tumblr for a long time and always enjoyed following all the quirky and inspiring people and their content on here.
It always felt to me like this was the platform where everyone was welcome no matter how weird and outside of the norms you were.
This was the place you could freely express yourself without being punished by the platform.
This is not the case anymore.
Due to the many recent changes to the platform (spammy recommended posts, discriminatory censorship and an unwillingness to deal with actual maleficent use of the platform, among others), I don’t feel at home here anymore.
Therefore I am leaving.
This will be the last post of mine here.
Thank you so much for following along as long as it lasted! I really appreciate you! And I hope to see you again somewhere else.
If you still want to get my weekly illustrations and connect with me, head over to my website at jonaslaumarkussen.com, where I’ll be posting the illustrations going forward.
You can even sign up for the newsletter to stay in touch and be sure not to miss a single post.
I’d love to have you!
Cheers,
Jonas Lau Markussen
