If I’m being honest LALONDIABOUND is one of the best parts in Homestuck for me. It was back when Rose was actually more in character and the story was more aligned.

It’s one of the more simpler parts of Homestuck to enjoy.

LALONDIABOUND (Plus obligatory GrimDorks mention..) is better than Davekat!

You know what I think? I love DaveJade, one of my favorites, love contrasting character traits, green and red as used in color theory, space and time motif, and the cool kid (Jade) x Dork (Dave) archetype.

But that’s one half of the beta kid ship grid, what about John and Rose?

Exactly. They go together. John brings out the silly and mischievous Rose who likes wearing a W as a mustache, wearing a scarf like a badass and starting a convention of mutant cats.

Rose brings out John’s frustrations, feelings of isolation and entrapment, and how he feels he needs to be as mangritty as his dad, how he feels like he’s more a tool of progress for the narrative and Sburb than an autonomous being, his self-loathing hidden right in front of him, and only Rose was caring enough to ask John for this conflict, even his dad seemed to take the Harlequins as some subtle hobby John enjoys.

WHICH MIRRORS HOW ROSE FEELS LIKE HER MOM ONLY LISTENS TO HER TO SPITE HER!

JohnRose works so well because of communication! John’s dad was caring but never felt like he could fully understand or listen to John, so John isolates himself! Mom Lalonde is more neglectful and can’t listen to rose or communicate with her because of alcoholism, so Mom lalonde isolates herself!

John and Rose needed each other to improve their communication skills and as a means to have someone, anyone to listen to! It did not always work, each act has at some point miscommunication between John and Rose (and John with Kanaya in act 5) but they still GET each other, and what they want, and what they need to agree on with their partner! Unlike their parents, John and Rose can try changing and reapproaching how they express their thoughts and what they want the other partner to listen better on! It really is 2 kids but themselves learning to mend the biggest divide between them using just the internet.

TL;DR JohnRose A.K.A Grimdorks is better than Davekat, and a ship that is slept on.

JohnRose aka Grimdorks is better than Davekat. It really seemed like the original plan for them was to set up JohnRose together. The trolls probably should have died, becoming the stepping stones for the Beta Kids to succeed and beat Jack Noir. Fun fact: Unused sprites for [S] Seer: Descend. ===> actually included a Grimdorks moment.
