John Stezaker

John Stezaker is a conceptual artist that is best known for his collage work. His collages usually feature found images taken from postcards, film stills, and commercial photographs. His collages are interesting yet simple, “My ideal is to do very little to the images, maybe just one cut: the smallest change or the most minimal mutilation”.  I liked the simplicity of Stezaker’s collages as I am a beginner in digital manipulation and wanted simple yet effective images.

Merhaba 📄✂️ Bugün 1949 Worcester, Birleşik Krallık doğumlu Kavramsal Sanatçı (1) John Grenville Stezaker'den bahsedeceğim. Sanat eğitimine Slade Sanat Okulu'nda başlayan Stezaker, 1973 senesinde buradan mezun olmuş ve  Pop Art akımının baskınlığına tepki gösteren ilk İngiliz kavramsal sanatçıları arasında yer almıştır. 1969 senesinden 2018 senesine kadar hem kişisel hem de grup sergileri açan Stezaker, daha çok Marriage (Evlilik) Serisi gibi kolaj serileri ile tanınmaktadır. Özellikle bu seri ve işlerinin geneli için Stezaker, klasik film yıldızlarının portreleri, yeni biçimlenmiş fakat hâlâ kopuk karakterler yaratarak izleyicisini farklı bir açıdan bakmaya itmiş ve çalışmaları için; “Benim idealim, görüntülerde çok az de��işiklik yapmak, belki sadece bir kesim veya yarattığım küçük sakatlıklar.. Yaptığım şey yıkıcı ama aynı zamanda kasıtlı bir eylem." demiştir. Damien Hirst ve Tracey Emin gibi sanatçılara ilham olduğu bilinen Stezaker'in eserleri; Londra'daki Tate Modern, New York'taki Modern Sanat Müzesi ve Tel Aviv Sanat Müzesi gibi önemli müze ve galerilerde sergilenmiştir. Stezaker, 2006 senesinde kadar Londra'daki Royal College of Art'ta Eleştirel ve Tarihsel Çalışmalar alanında öğretmenlik yapmıştır.
