all of the croatian!mello credit goes to mello phd haver @firebuggg who's written some unbelievably good stuff about his childhood experiences in the 90s yugoslav wars that i may one day bully her into posting because it is in my (completely non biased) opinion thee best and most complex, thought-out, realistic & moving & profound mello backstory exploration ever written in the history of the death note fandom (that i have come across in my many archeological explorations)(but i'm still willing to bet i'm right)

i struggled with near's backstory for a bit until i had the eureka moment to johnsilver his ass because it really feels off to pin him down to any kind of group or place or identity. unmoored loser-ass no-community haver messiahchild
