New Series - Love Knot: His Excellency’s First Love

Also known as Moonshine and Valentine ( 结爱•千岁大人的初恋), is a Chinese fantasy romance about a young reporter who meets a man from another world. Unknown to her Guan Pi Pi (Victoria Song), has been cursed and just like in her previous lived it brings her misfortune. He Lan Jing Ting (Huang Johnny) is a 900 year old diety of the Fox People, an alien race who came to earth long ago and he has loved and tried to fight Pi Pi’s curse since he was young. 

 He Lan renters life in public to find his first love in her new lifetime, a young reporter names Guan Pi Pi. Stuck in a relationship she has no idea where it is going but still caring deeply for her boyfriend she is a bit off put when she keeps running into He Lan. She learns that he is blind during the daylight but can see by the moonlight. Centuries ago we learn that he was fully blind and his relationship with her was tied to him being able to see. In the modern day he is assisted by two Foxes who in their human life run a plastic surgery practice. With Pi Pi’s job at an entertainment magazine wanting to investigate more into this mysterious rich man, she is thrust even more into his world and slowly more is revealed about their centuries long love and his battle to end her curse. 

Following a popular theme right now in Asian dramas about deity's and destined for centuries romances, this is a cute and entertaining one. Impressed by both the lead actors so far as even though they do not have a lot of work to their names they are selling me on this romance and destined curse more than others. For fans of Asian dramas or even newbies I would add this to a recommendation list.  Airing on Wednesdays and Thursdays, subtitled episodes can be found on Viki or DramaFever services, Viki seems to be more up to date with episodes aired though.

Starring Shen Teng (沈腾), Johnny Huang (黃景瑜), and Yin Zheng (尹正), the 2019 comedy film Pegasus released across China on Lunar New Year to widespread commercial success, making it one of three movies released over the holiday to break 100 million RMB within a week of initial screenings, alongside Crazy Alien (疯狂的外星人) and Wandering Earth (流浪地球). The story follows Zhang Chi, an ex-rally racer, as he takes his last shot at winning the Bayanbulak Rally Championships. Accompanying Zhang on his journey to win back his righteous place at the top are his old co-driver, Sun Yuqiang, as well as his adopted son, Zhang Fei. A fun-filled, high-octane romp through China’s racing scene, the movie intersperses the action with a heartfelt, tear-jerking story about found family and the cost of achieving one’s dreams.

Han Han (韩寒), the movie’s director, based much of the movie’s events on both his own life and the lives of those around him. A best-selling author and popular blogger, Han had previously been involved in numerous controversies with other authors, subsequently taking a break from writing to become a professional rally driver. Zhang Chi’s climb back into the spotlight in Pegasus mirrors Han’s own struggle to regain recognition in Chinese literary circles after his hiatus, before Han turned to directing in 2014 with his debut film, The Continent (后会无期).

時光如梭，一年一度的電影人盛事「第 57 屆金馬獎」又將在 11 月 21 號正式登場，先前我們已經關注過精彩的入圍名單，而不知道今年的金馬影展，各位也欣賞了哪幾部電影呢？在典禮到來之前，POPBEE 又要再一次替你整理 7 部備受關注的電影，包括入圍名單的大贏家《消失的情人節》以及《同學麥娜絲》、《怪胎》與《親愛的房客》等等，這幾部片也同時是討論度極高的得獎熱門人選，你又最希望誰可以拿下獎項呢？

消失的情人節

現職公車司機的男主角阿泰，從小人生就比別人慢半拍，做什麼事都漏一拍，還常被人從後按喇叭，有天卻發現時間竟突然暫停了！另外一邊，身為郵局櫃檯的女主角曉淇，凡事都搶快，生活沒漏掉半拍，但感情卻還是留白狀態，一覺醒來驚覺，最重要的一天竟然被偷走了！兩個時間不同的人卻因緣際會下遇見，在愛情的龜兔賽跑中又會怎麼發展呢？

《同學麥娜絲》是先前以《大佛普拉斯》拿下金馬獎最佳新導演的黃信堯自編自導第二部劇情長片，其特殊的魅力再次受到肯定，本次入圍 9 項大獎，由鄭人碩、劉冠廷、納豆、施名帥詮釋四個好友面對人生的徬徨與無奈，長大後不再像從前自由，但他們仍舊會聚在那間泡沫紅茶店，以幽默化解憂鬱，究竟這些人生關卡是否會考驗他們的友誼呢？

親愛的房客

主角林健一悉心照顧著他的房東，一位患病的阿嬤周秀玉，還收養了她的孫子，九歲的小男孩悠宇，他讓這個殘破的家庭再次運轉起來，卻也是這裡最熟悉的陌生人，隨著阿嬤周秀玉的去世，返國處理後事的叔叔立綱、調查死因的警察，才漸漸揭開這個家庭背後的秘密，而許多不利的證據卻讓林健一的背後動機開始受到質疑，沒想到這些，都只是他思念一個人的方式。

《親愛的房客》在陰暗的故事線下，導演鄭有傑帶著觀影者走入層層堆疊的感情世界，抽絲剝繭的揭開主角心中的思念、愧疚與不安，也挑戰觀眾心中的善惡和是非界線，渾厚的情感張力與引人入勝的故事，搭配著莫子儀、姚淳耀、是元介等主角們豐沛的演技，在今年的金馬強勢入圍 6 項大獎，究竟最盛大的愛是贖罪，還是最終極的贖罪，就是愛？

孤味

原本身為著名餐廳老闆的林秀英，在丈夫離家後，只能靠著小小路邊攤養大三個女兒，在她的努力下，不僅將攤販變成餐廳，經營得有聲有色，女兒也分別有著不錯的成就，大女兒阿青成為國際舞者，二女兒阿瑜到台北做整形醫生，小女兒佳佳則要接手家裡的餐廳事業，沒想到在七十大壽時時卻接到二十年來不曾聯絡的丈夫離世的消息，更意外迎來這些年陪他身邊的另一位女人，複雜的情緒就要隨之宣洩 …

《孤味》由剪接大師廖慶松與演員徐若瑄合力監製，改編自導演許承傑的同名短片，故事來自導演過世阿嬤的親身經歷，找來陳淑芳、謝盈萱、徐若瑄、孫可芳、丁寧強勢���力同台飆戲，在本次金馬中入圍 6 項大獎，緩緩的情感鋪陳著一家三代人的不同心思，格外感動人心。

刻在你心底的名字

故事聚焦在 80 年代末，剛剛解嚴的台灣，天主教學校裡 Birdy 闖入阿漢眼中，當青春正在騷動，男孩與男孩之間的友誼和愛慕也隨之受到牽引，正當彼此還在確認那些未知，女孩班班闖入了他們之間，讓曖昧關係產生了變化，三個人，究竟誰愛誰愛誰？

入圍 5 項金馬的《刻在你心底的名字》改編自導演柳廣輝的高中愛情回憶，導演與監製瞿友寧也剛好都是台中人，也在天主教學校成為同班同學，因此許多場景也取自對於當地的記憶，在解嚴的時代背景下，陳昊森、曾敬驊真摯的情感碰撞，喚起你我心中那些青春的記憶。

無聲

強勢入圍金馬 8 項的《無聲》大膽的將真實事件改編上大銀幕，由《天黑請閉眼》導演柯貞年執導，彷彿台版《熔爐》讓人不安的氛圍與人物之間糾結的情感，就像是無聲的吶喊，蔓延著校園也圍繞在觀影者身邊，詮釋著看似純真的園地，卻暗藏著殘忍真相，讓人在驚悚氛圍中感受心裡的撼動。
