And my other cosplays from the weekend!! My new and improves johnny (completely made by me sans 1 3D printed horse shoe) and yuri from tiger and bunny (i painted the tie)
Back in March I had a Professional shoot done for my Dr Ferdinand cosplay as it was the first time I debuted him. The description I gave my photographer was “Aristocratic, self-important, whorish, and androgynous.”
I wish at this time I had my thigh highs that I now use for him😭
Yo I cosplayed as Johnny (a physically disabled character) for a con and some other jojo cosplayers saw me and yelled “the cripple!” as a greeting and ran up to me. Hot tip: don’t do that?!?? That is NOT a nice thing to call people.
My physical disability (rheumatoid arthritis) isn’t severe when it’s not a bad flare up and is now being medicated, so it usually doesn’t require me to have any mobility aids or braces. But I wonder if I was having a flare up and needed my knee brace and gloves and was limping, would they still have called me that? Do they think it’s ok because they were referring to Johnny, who’s fictional? Using slurs and negative stereotypes and hate speech on fictional characters is seen and heard by people with similarities. Anyone who heard them yell the cripple probably immediately noted that they are NOT a safe person to ask for help from.
can people stop asking this while people are dressed as Johnny Joestar
This is my second time dressing up as Johnny to a convention but the thing is people kept asking me “why I wasn’t in a wheelchair” or “How are you walking?” Just because Johnny was paralyzed. It’a really uncomfortable for how I have to answer and plus DID YOU READ THE ENDING OF SBR????? Just please stop asking me and other cosplayers that. It was even the case for like people who had wheelchairs who were asked why they were in it like please don’t. Thank you for the Ted talk
