アメリカの黒人人種差別問題や公民権運動についてもっと知りたいと思い、図書館で本を探していたところ、とても良い物を発見しましたー❗️

これは、1960年代を中心にアメリカで起こった公民権運動で重要な役割を果たしたジョン・ルイス氏（John Robert Louis)の本です。まさに、彼の伝記のような本なのですが、全てコミックになっています。

ルイス氏は今年7月に亡くなりましたが、彼の功績を理解する上でとても役に立つ本です。

物語は、オバマ大統領の就任式典から始まり、ルイス氏の幼少期の重要な出来事から、1960年代に起きた公民権運動への関わりやその運動がどのように始まったのか描かれています。

公民権運動で指導者的立場で特に貢献した人たちを「Big Six」と言いますが、ルイス氏もその一人🌟

「I Have a Dream」というキング牧師の有名な演説が行われたワシントン大行進では、ルイス氏も演説をおこなっています。その後、アラバマ州セルマでデモに参加した際に、武装警官からの暴力行為に対抗し多くの人が襲撃を受け、負傷しています。彼もその一人です。「血の日曜日」と呼ばれる事件です。

（キング牧師だけではなく、マルコムX、ケネディ大統領やジョンソン大統領など、有名な方々が多数出てきます。）

このような数々の努力を経て、黒人が有権者登録をし、政治に参加することが出来るようになったのですね。

アメリカの歴史の中で、最も重要と言っても過言ではないこの時代の流れを知るために、是非手にとって欲しいシリーズです☝🏻

ルイス氏本人が関わっていただけあります！とても中身の濃い、学びのある本です。でも、コミックなので読みやすいと思います。
