The NBA Steals Headlines As Playoff’s Approach
The NBA trade deadline ended today at 3 pm and this was one of the busiest days in NBA history. Franchises have their eyes on the playoffs as the halfway point is upon us. Although it is Super Bowl week for the NFL, the NBA is stealing the show. In fact, all week the Association has been making headlines. From Kyrie Irving being traded to the Dallas Mavericks to LeBron James becoming the NBA’s All-Time leading scorer, this week sure has been memorable. No Stars on the Nets Joe Tsai did not wait for the deadline to part ways with Kyrie Irving as the Nets dealt him as well as Markieff Morris in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, and three draft picks. The 2016 NBA Champion made his debut for Dallas on Wednesday night in a 110-104 win over the Los Angeles Clippers. Irving’s now ex-teammate Kevin Durant also found himself in a new city. Just a day after introducing their new majority owner, Mat Ishba, the Phoenix Suns have acquired Durant. Phoenix sends Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and five draft picks to the Brooklyn Nets. TJ Warren is headed to Phoenix as well. Although Crowder just landed in Brooklyn, he is now headed to Milwaukee. The Bucks are giving the Nets five second-round draft picks for the 11-year veteran. Lakers Make a Deal In a three-team deal between the Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Lakers, and Utah Jazz, a handful of players are switching jerseys. The Lakers receive D’Angelo Russell from Minnesota, and Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt from the Jazz. Utah receives Russell Westbrook, Damian Jones, Juan Toscano-Anderson, and a first round draft pick. The Timberwolves receive Mike Conley and Nickeil Alexander-Walker as well as draft picks from the Jazz. In another deal for the Lakers, the Orlando Magic agreed to send Mo Bamba to LA in exchange for Patrick Beverley, a draft pick, and cash. Veteran point guards, Westbrook and Beverley, are expected to be bought out by their new teams and look elsewhere to play. https://twitter.com/yahoosports/status/1623788708271988737?s=46&t=VsRfiWOHWqSbpiH7A9lPfw Clippers Looking to Win The Lakers aren’t the only team in LA making moves. The Clippers have sent John Wall back to the Houston Rockets and Luke Kennard to the Memphis Grizzlies. The Rockets receive three second round picks in exchange for Eric Gordon. Eric Gordon won’t be the only new face in LA with the Clippers trading Reggie Jackson for Mason Plumlee. They also traded two draft picks for Denver Nuggets Guard Bones Hyland. What a busy day for the NBA and these were just a few of the trades today! The second half of the season should be very interesting. Read the full article

First Festival of Live Electronic Music - Freeborn Hall, University of California, Davis, December 5, 1967
Let's dive deep into the origins of electronic music! Hell yes. This UC Davis tape (via the Other Minds Archive.org stash) captures some extremely strange sounds from the dawn of time. Or rather, 1967. Proto-noise, proto-industrial, proto-everything ...
Even though the announcer sounds dry and academic, there must've been a sense of playfulness, of letting the inmates run the asylum. Dig the description of the Stanley Lunetta piece:
"The basic concept was to have David Tudor, the main performer, sitting on a stool holding a bandoneon, with a series of strings attached to his head, hands, arms, legs, and feet, and with contact microphones attached to his stool, throat, and of course the bandoneon. The strings are then manipulated as if Tudor were a marionette, with the associated sounds thus produced being mixed and amplified."
Sounds like we have to track down the video of this one, too.

At the Met Gala (5/2/2022), Sarah Jessica Parker wore a dress designed by Christopher John Rogers in homage to Elizabeth Hobbs Keckley.
Keckley was the first Black female fashion designer to work in the White House. She was First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln's dressmaker.
Keckley was born an enslaved woman in Dinwiddie County, Virginia in February of 1818. As a child, she worked with her mother as a house servant for Colonel Armistead Burwell and took care of his infant child. Burwell was also Keckley's biological father.
Keckley was routinely subject to severe physical punishment under the orders of Burwell's wife. Keckley remembered the first time she was whipped and wrote, "The blows were not administered with a light hand, I assure you, and doubtless the severity ...me remember the incident so well. This was the first time I was punished in this cruel way, but not the last."
She was also separated from her adopted father, an enslaved man named George Hobbs when she was only seven. The family was given only 2 hours to say goodbye.
Keckley wrote about her family separation vividly, stating that, "I can remember the scene as if it were but yesterday; how my father cried out against the cruel separation; his last kiss; his wild straining of my mother to his bosom; the solemn prayer to Heaven; the tears…and sobs--the fearful anguish of broken hearts. The last kiss, the last good-by; and he, my father, was gone, gone forever." They never saw each other again but did write one another.
Keckley was sent back to Virginia and in 1842, traveled with her enslaver's family to St. Louis, in 1847, where she was hired out as a seamstress. She became well known throughout the city for her dressmaking skills.
She married James Keckly in 1850 and her enslaver agreed that she could purchase her and her son George's freedom for $1,200 dollars. Elizabeth and James lived together for eight years, during which time she found out he was not legally free, but a fugitive enslaved person.
Her writings indicate their marriage was an unhappy one. It took Elizabeth Keckley three years to raise the funds to purchase freedom for her and her son. She separated from her husband soon after and began working as a seamstress in St. Louis and made quite the name for herself.
Keckley moved to Washington D.C. in 1860, and started her own fashion business, making dresses for the wives of the political elite. One of her clients was Varina Davis, who later became the First Lady of the Confederacy.
Keckley was recommended by a customer to make dresses for incoming First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln and was chosen for the position as her dressmaker the day after President Lincoln's inauguration. The two women developed a close relationship.
Keckley's son George joined the Union Army and was killed in action at Wilson's Creek, Missouri in 1861. After his death, she became heavily involved in the Contraband Relief Association.
Keckley published a memoir in 1868 titled, "Behind the Scenes or Thirty Years a Slave, and Four Years in the White House." She faced severe backlash because the book contained private correspondence with Mary Lincoln and other elite white women.
She became the head of Wilberforce University's Department of Sewing and Domestic Science Arts in 1892. She eventually moved back to Washington D.C. and passed away in May of 1907.

War November I: The Last of the Mohicans (1992) - Recap: Part One
Ah, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Steel City of Bridges.
Home of the Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates! Historic center of the United States steel and glass industries! Birthplace of Heinz Ketchup and the Clark Bar! The first place where Mister Rogers Neighborhood ever aired, and where the first movie theatre opened! And of course, it’s the starting place of a conflict known as the French and Indian War. Sort of.
To fully understand this war, you gotta go back to the beginning of European settlement in the American colonies. See, once world was out about the New World, everybody looked across the Atlantic and wanted a thick, juicy piece of that sweet, sweet, delicious land. And by the time we reach 1754, tensions are high against the two European countries that tensions were always high between: the English and the French.
See, in 1753, the French decided to perch right on the confluence to two rivers in Pennsylvania, on a site that would later be Pittsburgh. However, there was already a British settlement there in the form of a trading post. In response, the Americans would build Fort Prince George, named after every Hamilton fan’s favorite British king. And since America did belong to him at the time, the American armies were ordered to kick the French the fuck OUT.
Lieutenant Governor of Virginia, Robert Dinwiddie, decided to send a force to finish and occupy the fort, as well as five more spots along the rivers in the territories. To lead this offensive, he sent a 21 year-old major who had recently had success in negotiating with a local Native American tribe. His name was also George.
George Washington is on one of his first big military missions. He’s sent to route the French out of English territory, and ends up going to to Williamsburg, Virginia to do so. The French have already taken off at this point, but the tensions have already risen to the point of escalation. Each side builds new fortifications in the region, with the English fortification erected under future Pittsburgh.
Washington ends up going after some of the French, they retaliate, and before you know it, THERE’S A WAR ON! Is it English or is it French territory? Well, technically, when you think about it...
Yeah, what about the Native Americans?
Even at this early pre-American point in our history, our relationships with native Americans were...not good, to say the least. At the Albany Congress in 1754, the British managed to formally ally with the Catawba, Mohawk, and Cherokee tribes. Which is good for them. Except for the fact that the French allied with the Abenaki, Wabanaki, Mi’kmawm Algonquin, Lenape, Ojibwa, Ottawa, Shawnee, and Wyandot (or Huron) tribes. And yeah...that was BAD for the Brits, because that’s a LOT of enemies to face.
And so, the stage is set. While war wouldn’t be officially declared until TWO YEARS LATER, the British have their 42,000 poised to fight the 10,000 of the French armies. And while you’d THINK the French were at a disadvantage here, it turns out that having people who know the American frontier like the back of their hands is really valuable, and they proceed to just SPANK the British for two years. By 1757, Britain isn’t going great, and while the Native Americans are getting increasingly screwed by both sides.
With that, it’s time to get into the battle with an adaptation of a story written during this historic conflict. I’ll get more into that later, I promise.
SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
Recap: Part One
The year is 1757, and the French and Indians War rages on! A young man with a glorious mullet runs headlong through the woods, brandishing a musket. This is the star of the show, Nathaniel “Hawkeye” Poe (Daniel Day-Lewis), and he’s on the hunt for venison. He’s accompanied by a Mohican man named Chingachgook (Russell Means), and his son Uncas (Eric Schweig).
At the end of a busy day in the Adirondack Mountains, they meet with a family of settlers, the Camerons. These are John (Terry Kinney), Alexandra (Tracey Ellis) and son James Cameron (Justin M. Rice), all of whom somehow have different accents, and one of whom will one day make a mediocre Pocahontas rip-off YEAH I SAID IT.
The Camerons tell the three men about the war between the English colonies and the French, but they don’t seem to care much. The next day, they plan on heading west, hopefully away from any conflict. The next day, a British soldier comes to the village nearby, known as Albany, in an attempt to get soldiers, colonist and Native American alike, to join the fight against the French. And as said, Nathaniel doesn’t really care.
This is probably a good time to mention that our friend Nathaniel is white, and is essentially the adopted son of Chingachgook. As such, he travels and identifies specifically with the Native Americans in the area, specifically of the Mohawk and Mohican variety. Although, of course, there are much fewer of the latter.
On the same day, the representatives of the local city council go to the local British general to negotiate their terms of service in serving for the crown as a militia. This is distasteful to the newly arrived officer, Major Duncan Heyward (Steven Waddington), who seems like, well...kind of a dick. He’s on his way to Fort William Henry, and to pick up the daughters of the general he’s to serve under. He’ll also be accompanied by Mohawk guide, Magua (Wes Studi).
Said daughters include Cora Munro (Madeleine Stowe), whom Heyward wishes to marry. But, immediately, it’s obvious that Cora’s not exactly into the whole proposition. Indeed, during a luncheon on a fancy table in the middle of a field...OK...she shoves him immediately into the friendzone, and he hangs on to the edge kicking and screaming. He eventually gets her to agree to think about it, through good old-fashioned chauvinism.
Cora’s sister Alice (Jodhi May) shows up, excited for their adventure into the wilderness, and to see the...color-based slur for Native Americans that I don’t feel comfortable saying for OBVIOUS REASONS. The next day, the uncertain Cora heads out with Alice, Duncan, and a platoon, led by Magua through the forest.
Magua suddenly and unexpectedly turns on the British army, killing several soldiers as part as an ambush by a group of Native Americans. Can’t be Mohawk, then, since they allied with the British at this point in the war. The troop of soldiers is slaughtered, only saved by the intervention of Chingachcook and his sons.
The Munro sisters and Duncan survive, as do all three of our Mohicans. The guys agree to lead the tourists to Fort William Henry, and reveal that Magua and his compatriots are actually Huron. Makes sense, since they did ally with the French in the war. Speaking of, Duncan’s incensed by the fact that Hawkeye seems to not be a part of the war effort, but Hawkeye genuinely doesn’t give a shit.
The group happens upon the Camerons, and find that they were indeed slaughtered, likely by Magua and his people. They choose not to bury them, despite their connection, in order not to reveal their presence there, and thus aid in tracking the party. Now it’s Cora’s turn to be incensed, until she learns the reason why later that night from Hawkeye, while on a watch. In the process of their conversation, we learn that Hawkeye’s parents died when he was a toddler, and he was raised by Chingachgook as his own son. And as he tells her a Mohican myth about the origins of the night sky, Cora beings her transformation into the inevitable love interest.
Their journey continues through the next day, and they happen upon a battlefield that night. This is Fort William Henry, where Colonel Edmund Munro (Maurice Roeves) is waging a battle against General Louis-Joseph de Montcalm (Patrice Chereau). The date is August 3, 1757, which I know because this actually happened. This siege, as well as its commanding generals, is real. However, it’s not gonna go well for the British.
When the family reunites, Duncan reveals that Magua’s a dick, and didn’t deliver a letter that was meant to prevent the girls from coming, and to get reinforcements from Albany. At this point, Munro has accepted that, well...they’re completely fucked. With more men and a greater artillery, the French are absolutely going to win. However, there’s some hope when it’s revealed that Webb is in a fort only 12 miles way, and might be able to send reinforcements.
But JUST as he gets that information, Magua tells Montcalm that he’s headed to Fort Edwards. He also reveals that he ABSOLUTELY DESPISES Munro for some reason. And when I say he hates him...
When the Grey Hair is dead, Magua will eat his heart. Before he dies, Magua will put his children under the knife, so the Grey Hair will know his seed is wiped out forever.
Yeah, OK, he fucking hates this dude. Can’t wait to find out the probably horrible reason why. In the meantime, Hawkeye and his guys are taking the fuck off, but not before he goes to Cora one last time to make goo-goo eyes with her. She makes them back at him, because Inevitable Love Interest, and they part ways.
Speaking of parting ways, the militia find out about the Camerons, and realize that it’s time to head back home. Based on their deal with Webb, they have the right to leave if their livelihoods and properties are threatened. However, Munro decides to...well, he decides to be a dick, and he refuses to release them for this purpose on only Hawkeye’s word about the Camerons.
When asked to testify to the slaughter, Duncan also goes for the asshole route, and says that he saw nothing of concern. Hawkeye calls him a liar (which he fucking is), he gets all pissy about it, and Cora (who saw the entire thing) officially says “fuck this dude” and storms off. The militia and Hawkeye start to indicate their plans to leave, Duncan shouts that “THAT IS SEDITION”, and Hawkeye straight-up threatens the dude. Good, kick his ASS.
After Munro tells them to fuck off, and the militia suddenly starts feeling the urge to throw all the British tea in a harbor somewhere for some reason, Cora tells Duncan to promptly fuck off. She also goes to make out with Hawkeye, because Inevitable Love Interest. However, that comes back to bite them in the ass when Hawkeye sneaks the militia out that night, and is arrested by Munro for sedition.
Good place to pause, I think! See you in Part Two!

When the NBA made the shocking decision Wednesday to halt the season amid the coronavirus outbreak, it set off a monumental chain reaction in the sports world. As the league as a whole tries to grapple with what will be a 30-day minimum break in the schedule, a lot of concern has been centered around arena staff and workers, who won't receive paychecks with games being postponed.
There isn't a uniform plan in place to compensate arena workers set by the league, but when the postponement was announced Wednesday night, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban made a commitment to pay all arena workers inside American Airlines Center.
While talking to reporters after the Mavericks' win over the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night, Cuban said:
"I reached out to the folks at the arena and our folks at the Mavs to find out what it would cost to support, financially support, people who aren't going to be able to come to work. They get paid by the hour, and this was their source of income. So, we'll do some things there. We may ask them to go do some volunteer work in exchange, but we've already started the process of having a program in place. I don't have any details to give, but it's certainly something that's important to me."
Since Cuban made that decision, other teams and even players from across the sports world have followed suit and have announced plans to help compensate those workers who are typically paid by the hour. Here's a running list of players and teams around the league stepping up to help the arena workers in their cities.
Atlanta Braves: All-Star first baseman Freddie Freeman Freeman has pledged $50,00 to the Atlanta Food Bank and $50,000 to the Giving Kitchen, a program that provides emergency assistance to food service workers. Freeman has also donated $25,000 to the Salvation Army, bringing his total outlay to $125,000.
Atlanta Hawks: Team owner Tony Ressler told Hawks CEO Steve Koonin two weeks before the league decided to go on a hiatus that "if we shut down, we have to take care of our part-time employees," as reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Sarah K. Spencer.
Brooklyn Nets: In response to Nets' guard Spencer Dinwiddie tweeting about taking care of non-salaried arena workers, team owner Joe Tsai responded by saying the franchise is putting a plan in place to help out Barclays Center staff.
Charlotte Hornets: In a press release on Sunday, the Hornets announced that team owners and players were coming together to help pay for the salaries of part-time workers at Spectrum Center who were previously scheduled to work any upcoming Hornets or G League Greensboro Swarm games through April 13.
Chicago Bulls: The Bulls announced Saturday that they would pay game-day employees through all previously scheduled Bulls and Blackhawks games.
Chicago Cubs: Jason Heyward donated $200,000 to coronavirus relief in Chicago, split between two organizations. Heyward is giving $100,000 each to the Greater Chicago Food Depository and MASK, an organization that is collecting supplies and food for families impacted by the virus.
Cleveland Cavaliers: Kevin Love became the first player in the league to donate money to event staff at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse when he announced on social media that he would give $100,000 to those workers. The Cavaliers followed their star forward and announced on Twitter that they would be taking care of all hourly staff.
Dallas Mavericks: When the league announced postponement, team owner Mark Cuban wasted no time in making it clear that he would make sure all the employees who work events and games at the American Airlines Center would be paid during the hiatus. The Mavericks also released a statement Sunday saying that they plan to reimburse employees for breakfast and lunch purchases from Dallas-area restaurants in an effort to not only help those employees but local businesses as well.
Detroit Pistons: Blake Griffin will be donating $100,000 to the workers inside Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, per The Detroit News' Rod Beard.
Golden State Warriors: Warriors ownership, players and coaches will contribute $1 million to a disaster relief fund for Chase Center employees, the team announced. "The men and women who work our games at Chase Center are critical in providing an incredible game-night experience for our fans," Warriors guard Steph Curry said. "As players, we wanted to do something along with our ownership and coaches to help ease the pain during this time."
Houston Astros: Astros star George Springer joined the growing list of stars within the sports world to go into their own pockets to help others impacted by the spread of the coronavirus by pledging to donate $100,000 to Minute Maid Park employees.
Indiana Pacers: Pacers owner Herb Simon has given financial aid to the part-time workers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, per Bob Kravitz of The Athletic.
Houston Rockets: Team CEO Tad Brown said that the franchise is getting a plan together to take care of all hourly workers at Toyota Center, per The Houston Chronicle's Johnathan Feigen.
Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers: The Clippers and Lakers, both tenants of the Staples Center, along with the Kings of the NHL, announced Saturday that they have created a fund to compensate over 2,800 part-time and contract workers that typically staff Staples Center for NBA and NHL games. This includes employees such as team statisticians, announcers and dance teams.
Miami Heat: The Heat will provide funds to their partners in food and beverage services, security and housekeeping in order to help pay their part-time arena staffers, the team announced. Additionally, the Arison family, owners of the Heat, will donate $1 million to a fund dedicated to helping those part-time workers.
Milwaukee Bucks: Reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo took to Twitter to announce that he will be donating $100,000 to workers at Fiserv Forum, saying "it's bigger than basketball."
Memphis Grizzlies: The Grizzlies will be compensating all game night employees for any games missed through the end of the year, according to Geoff Calkins of The Daily Memphian.
Minnesota Timberwolves: Karl-Anthony Towns is donating $100,000 to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota to help aid in providing testing for COVID-19.
New Orleans Pelicans: No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, Zion Williamson, announced on his Instagram that he's pledging to cover the salaries of all workers at Smoothie King Center for the next 30 days. In the post, Williamson said, "this is a small way for me to express my support and appreciation for these wonderful people who have been so great to me and my teammates." In addition to Zion's contribution, Pelicans owner Gayle Benson will be donating $1 million to create the Gayle Benson Community Assistance Fund, which will not only help the workers at Smoothie King Center, but those impacted by the coronavirus in the greater New Orleans area as well.
Philadelphia 76ers: The hourly workers at Wells Fargo Center will be compensated during the NBA's hiatus, per NBC Sports Philadelphia's John Clark.
Utah Jazz: Rudy Gobert, the first NBA player to test positive for the coronavirus, will donate $500,000 to various causes. Of that money, $200,000 will go to game-day employees for the Jazz, $100,000 each will go to families impacted by the virus in Utah and Oklahoma City, and 100,000 euros will go to his native France.
Washington Wizards: Team owner Ted Leonsis reportedly told Capital One Arena workers that they will be paid through March 31 for any Wizards or Capitals games they were scheduled to work, per The Athletic's Tarik El-Bashir.
Former NBA player Jeremy Lin announced that he was donating $150,000 to UNICEF to help fight the coronavirus. Lin also donated the same amount to the China Foundation.
CBS Sports will continue to provide updates to this list when they become available.

Standing in Doorways
Right now it just feels like Supernatural is standing in a doorway, paralyzed to move forward. Dean’s daddy issues, his need to confront and reconcile the father for Dean’s resulting traumatic childhood, is like the last great story Supernatural feels it has. Note my language. Not that this is the truth, but it’s the truth every showrunner has clinged to. What happens between now and three episodes from now? When Dean finally meets his father again after years of reflecting on the trauma he inflicted, the trauma Dean has learned to “thrive” on? What happens then? And what happens in between?
All of Michael’s taunts to his family (Sam, Cas and Jack) in 14x10 were things that had to do with how Dean fears they feel, how he feels he has made them feel. Cas in particular, Dean has come to realize, is driven to bring Dean wins that somehow make up for all his failures. But Dean doesn’t care. Not really. And Dean fears what happens when he finally tells Cas that. Will Cas leave? Like he has so many times before? Dean wouldn’t survive. He’s being made to face his fears right now. He stands inside the doorway and doesn’t move.
Rooms and doors are age old symbolism, the path between one world and the next, the past and the future. This was perhaps best done with the pool room table in Rocky’s Bar.
Dean’s whole bar construct was made of dead or dying things, things of the past, waiting on a future that doesn’t come by Dean’s own volition. Most noteably, this involved quite a few things around the influence of Crowley. It was Crowley who gave Dean the squirrel nickname, Crowley who works in sales deals (as Dean is pressured into selling the bar by someone in a suit), Crowley who watched Dean play pool so notably in 9x17. In fact, I would have to guess Mark Sheppard was maybe asked to come back for just this episode (and was supposed to be physically in this room) and he either refused or couldn’t, so they got Dinwiddie for these scenes instead, exploring negative space symbolism in Sheppard’s place.
There’s a whole room constructed off to the side of the bar and no one ever enters it. This is wasteful in production terms unless the symbolism of the emptiness is deemed worth the extra budget. The cowboy motel statues from 13x06 occupies it tho (oh as bathroom designations!), a time he and Crowley put on Cowboy hats and toasted beers. Crowley is also the one who helped Sam break out of Gadreel, as the episode reminds us. Over this whole set, Crowley’s past influence over Dean hangs. It’s a past Dean has laid to rest, a pool room that goes unoccupied, but even still, it informs the future, helped make Dean into who he is today.
Then there’s Michael, with Dean keeping him locked in a walk-in cooler, an ice closet if you will. Michael is walking talking “kill your brother because your father said so” structural daddy issues, someone who hates cheaters, thieves, and LIARS. And isn’t that just the perfect symbolism for all Dean’s repression and trauma? And Sam and Cas help Dean lock all that behind a door. It’s all very Hill House in its mental health symbolism, the door that stays shut, the house haunted by so many ghosts of trauma’s past. Here, Dean remains. In a house full of the family he loves, he is haunted by the ghost of John Winchester, the absent father still. Long has he festered, the door shut and not dealt with.
So.
What happens between now and when the door finally opens? What happens when Dean can no longer keep this locked away? How does he face his fears of laying his soul bare to his family? Convince Sam, Cas, and Jack that what Michael said is just what he fears they feel? Hoping it’s not the truth of their own fears? What happens when Dean finally opens the door, crosses the threshold, and walks into the future? What does that room look like? When the influence of the past gives way to the choice of the future? I want to know. I hope Supernatural feels it is a story worth telling, a story not controlled by fear, not their characters’ or the writer’s own.
You can open the door. You can step into the future. You’re not alone. You just have to decide to be brave. You just decide TO GO.

FILM VS. HISTORY - Christopher Gist (Timothy Perez-Ross) & Half King (Slim Khezri). @washingtonsarmor Historical trivia; During the winter of 1753, George Washington and his guide, Christopher Gist, were on a mission to French Fort LeBoeuf to deliver a message from Gov. Dinwiddie. Their first French contact was at Venango where Captain Joncaire attempted to stall Washington by giving presents and liquor to the Indians allied to Washington, one of which was the half-king who tried to council with the French, asking them to discharge themselves "off this land." The half-king was also displeased with the native "Custaloga" for not returning the French wampum belt. Much time had been spent and Washington sent Christopher Gist to the Indian camp to solicit the half-king to leave for Fort LeBoeuf "which he did with great persuasion." Both characters appear in the brand new epic film "Washington's Armor", directed by Tammy Cox Lane. Painting by John Buxton. “Washington's Armor” follows a young George Washington in his adventures 20 years prior to the Revolutionary War, based on factual accounts from the book “The Bulletproof George Washington” by David Barton, portrays the true account of Washington’s journey as he encounters danger and develops as a leader and a man of faith. The trilogy depicts especially Washington’s perilous journey and the miraculous life-changing events that shape his character, preparing him for leadership, and solidifying his faith in preparation for his ultimate purpose yet to be fulfilled as the first President of the United States.
