The Outsiders - My Fav December read last year and yes the MOVIE is GOLD. I read it and loved Darry so much and I cried and laughed reading it - A CLASSIC - I feel like it's drawing the DPS boys - there are similarities but so MANY DIFFERENCES -

Angust Tully from The Holdovers - MY FAVORITE GENRE OF DEPRESSING WINTER FILMS - and my favorite film of 2023 without a DOUBT - Angus is such an interesting character and Dominic Sessa stole the show

Ferris Bueller's Day Off - These three have my heart but I am a Cameron Frye stan forever - Ferris is iconic as a leading man and Sloane is QUEEN. They are legends and God I love this movie - COMFORTING but CAMERON's arc is what I love the most

The Breakfast Club - OFC they had to be on this list - I will forever hate Allison's transition and yes not a fan of John Bender either - Brian stan (kinnie) 4life - THE SOUNDTRACK IS GOLD - The ultimate adrenaline boost

Maurice (1987) - GOD I LOVE THIS MOVIE but Hugh Grant is really hard to draw. But Rupert Graves as Alec would be something of a dream to draw (he's a very expressive character) and Maurice (One of my fav characters in all of fiction)

Derry Girls - I suck at drawing women (which is why I am stuck in a loop of drawing the DPS boys except I did draw Allison once and it came out nice) Would love to draw these girls

Gilmore Girls - Guess who sat down to listen to the Gilmore Girls playlist again - FOREVER LUKE STAN

Pride and Prejudice (the movie and the television show) - I think the show is superior but that's a given (It's a show and it has room to tell the story - a movie gives you a limited number of hours and you have to introduce the conflicts but have the audience root for the couples...) little update for you guys:

so i’ve had literally no time for shifting recently 💀 I haven’t even attempted in a month or so.

and i know everyone’s like “make time!” or “shifting is easy just do ___!” girl i’m telling you i’m up at 6 in the morning and my day isn’t over until 11, then i need to go to sleep and do it all again the next day. having responsibilities sucks ass.

BUT- in the meantime, I’ve been exploring potential DRs and making pinterest boards and cute little spotify playlists and basically it’s the main way i’m attached to shifting right now. My living situation has changed (positive) but that’s a whole other mess and basically Ophelia has NO time ❌

So updates might be slow until i move into my dorm in August, but anyway here’s a new list of some of my drs in case anyone is looking for a new place to shift:

So, I have my Hogwarts DR right? But honestly, it’s not really my main focus at the moment. i’m really just trying to get to my waiting room before i decide where the hell i’m going. this dr is cute and adorable and feels very homey to me. i’ve actually considered permashifting there tbh. it’s the world i’ve scripted the most for and what ignited my shifting journey.

Then, I have a Fame dr. kind of obligatory at first but the more i was getting into it, the more shit i’ve added and i actually love it now. it’s a mid-2010s and onward fame dr, so it’s like 2015 where i’m shifting. i’ve scripted to start out on broadway (OBC for katherine pulitzer in newsies), eventually working my way to the acting industry and then the music industry. i’ve got at least three albums planned and I even have an idea for a directorial debut limited series. I’ve also scripted myself into movies and shows that don’t exist in my cr so i’m excited to see how that goes!

I have some ideas for a marvel/Avengers dr. I’m a Greek demi-goddess with questionable parentage, but I insert myself into Tony’s life right around the first Iron Man. With weird time mechanics and whatever I just want to be besties with peter parker and train with strange and bucky tbh. extended found family is what i live for

I’m working on an Avatar: The Last Airbender dr lmao. i wanna be a fire bender so bad it’s unreal. I’m also adding separate countries under the same nation. like yes, there’s the earth kingdom and fire kingdom, but they have separate designations sort of like the southern and northern water tribes.

I’m thinking of a pjo/camp-half-blood dr because that would be cool as hell. going on quests with the gang and having powers?? i’d probably script some stuff in or out but the idea is really cool to me and i was always a percy jackson kid

lost in space dr !!! if you don’t know what i’m talking about there’s an original series from years ago or there’s a netflix reboot but basically this is a found family dr that takes place in space/alien planets and there’s a robot. maureen and john robinson are so mother and father coded it’s unreal.

If you like listening to music or podcasts, what have you been listening to lately? Any recs?

Honestly I haven't been listening to podcasts much lately. I used to listen to MBMBAM with fierce regularity but I got into the habit of letting episodes build up so that when I'm doing a project or go on a long car trip I have plenty of episodes to listen to (also there have been a few show-based podcasts for the terror and chernobyl that I've been meaning to listen to. but I'm reserving those for when I'm out from school) ... however that being said, in a similar vein, I watch a stupid amount of youtube stuff daily. which is kinda similar but different I guess lmao. My favorites right now are Tasting History with Max Miller (which scratches a great historical terror stuff itch because he's done a bunch of videos on stuff like hard tack (aka ships biscuits) and what kinds of stews sailors and overland explorers would make with them seriously his channel is so fantastic. he also ate leather for fun just to see how it'd be like. I really love that man a lot), The Game Grumps (forever a mainstay for me because they genuinely never fail to kill me with laughter all the fucking time no matter what in the hell they're playing or doing. Also they have helped me through my worst insomnia episodes I've ever had and I owe them my life), and Strange Aeons (who is on tumblr!!!) and she does a lot of REALLY COOL internet culture investigative journalism that I think is both really informative and neat but also has inspired me a lot in terms of ideas of what to do with a youtube channel of my own, should that ever come to pass. I also watch stuff like Bernadette Banner and John Oliver (and ofc anything put out by watcher entertainment but that's kindof a given) Also keep up with Julien Solomita sometimes.

AS FOR MUSIC!!! I've actually been on a huge classical music bender lately because someone in my Edgar Allan Poe class did a presentation on his thematic influence on classical music and brought up Saint-Saens (Danse Macabre) as an example. and it actually made me make This Playlist (among several other more lady terror-focused playlists) that are pieces that would have existed around the time period that the terror happened, or songs that reminded me of the terror vibe in some way. It's a good time (my favorite is Chopin's Nocturne in C Sharp Minor no. 20. it gives so much lady terror- especially her backstory, her childhood, the broken family she came from, the hard things she had to overcome to get to where she is, the hope she was given for her life by other people. it's very near and dear to me. but also others like Serenade by Schubert and David Garret's version of paganini's La Campanella? absolute divinity. so many more also in there that I love but those have been the ones I've had on loop a lot lately. Today Rondo Alla Turca has been giving me good vibes for some reason)

TRIGGER WARNING: drinking tw, infidelity tw Bianca grew up to a family of dedicated witches, all her life she was told that her magic should be first and foremost.  So she tried to be a dedicated student and learned from her family and their coven.  She loved her family and siblings and would do anything for them, but she never thought that one species was better than the other and made sure to tell her younger siblings that their parents were wrong in that sense.  So when her younger sister Kara started rebelling more and more against the family, Bianca was always encouraging of her and even showed her that leaving could be done.   Bianca went to college in Boston and didn't realize just how much she would love a new scenery.  The city had everything she never had and it was there that she truly found herself.  And the love of her life. She and Vermillion met in college and Bianca never believed in love at first sight until she saw him and it was like she was hit with a love spell.  The two fell in love fast and hard but Bianca had to admit she missed the small town life.  So when she heard about Raven's Peak she knew immediately she wanted to move there to experience the mix of species and knew she had to tell Vermillion what she was and why she wanted to move there.  To her surprise he didn't bat an eye and even wanted to move with her.  And a year later they were married and life seemed perfect. Though to this day Bianca holds some regret on bringing her family to the town because one day she got a call that her husband was attacked.  It seemed like everything was okay, he was going to recover, but Bianca worried that what attacked him was more than just a dog like everyone originally thought.  Her fears only got worse as he stopped bothering coming home and was out on a bender doing god knows what.  But when he did finally come home and promise to do better did they finally start working together to build a better marriage and help him through the curse that was now a part of their life.  They thought everything was better and fixed until one day a knock on their door brought them a son that Vermillion had from one of his night outs.  Sure the reminder of his infidelity stung but there was no way Bianca wasn't going to accept Banks into her life and she promised from that day on that she was going to be a mother to him as well as their other children.   Once things seemed to be doing better Bianca was back in touch with her younger sister Kara and told her about the town, promising that it was nothing like what their parents taught them and it could be a place for her to settle down as well.  But soon Kara was attacked as well and Bianca felt guilty once more, thinking she should have done a better job protecting her.  Now she promises to protect her family both by blood and anyone she practically adopts by any means necessary.

In the final weeks of the 2020 election, President Donald J. Trump’s campaign surveyed likely voters in swing states about what political messages stuck with them.

Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s message, these voters said, centered on how Mr. Trump mishandled the coronavirus pandemic and was unfit for office. But for Mr. Trump, those surveyed echoed more than a dozen different messages, including his false claims about the virus, his third Supreme Court nomination and complaints that he deserved a Nobel Peace Prize. Just 3 percent of the voters recalled something specific Mr. Trump had said about Mr. Biden.

Now, some Trump advisers and allies say privately they are concerned that the dynamic may be repeating itself four years later. They worry that Mr. Trump’s impetuousness and scattershot style on the campaign trail needlessly risk victory in battleground states where the margin for error is increasingly narrow.

At a time when his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, has stepped up her attacks on him as “unstable,” Mr. Trump has struggled to publicly hone his message by veering off script and ramping up personal attacks on Ms. Harris that allies have urged him to rein in.

“When he’s good, he’s great, and when he’s off message, he’s not so great,” said David Urban, a Trump adviser. “I don’t think anyone is really changing their mind at this point, but when he distracts from his biggest, broadest messaging, it’s counterproductive because the Harris campaign uses it to turn out their voters.”

During a speech on Saturday in California, he described mail-in ballots as “so corrupt,” reviving one of his false attacks on the 2020 election results, and did a play-by-play of his internal thoughts when he watched SpaceX, Elon Musk’s spaceflight company, fly a rocket back onto its launch site.

On Sunday, in response to a question on Fox News about the possibility of foreign adversaries’ meddling in the election, he reverted to autocratic language by saying “the bigger problem is the enemy from within.” On Monday, he halted a town-hall event in suburban Philadelphia after five questions when two people in the crowd needed medical attention. He spent roughly the next half-hour playing D.J., swaying and grooving in front of his crowd to a playlist he curated from the stage. “Let’s just listen to music,” he said.

Last week, he canceled a CBS interview on “60 Minutes,” in which he and Ms. Harris were both scheduled to appear — and has not stopped talking about it. He complained about it during events in Detroit and Reno, Nev., and again on Monday in a social media post at 1:12 a.m.

At the Economic Club of Chicago on Tuesday, he answered a question about whether he would break up Google by complaining about a Justice Department lawsuit against Virginia election officials. When he was reminded the question was about Google, he said he “called the head of Google the other day” to grouse about the difficulty of finding positive news stories about his campaign on the company’s search page.

During the same event, Mr. Trump suggested his digressions were part of a communication strategy when his interviewer tried to focus on a question.

“You’ve got to be able to finish a thought because it’s very important,” Mr. Trump told the interviewer, John Micklethwait, the editor in chief of Bloomberg News. “This is big stuff we’re talking about. You can’t go that quickly.”

Mr. Micklethwait pointed out that Mr. Trump had started talking about reserve currency and then moved to a story about President Emmanuel Macron of France, among other digressions. “It’s called ‘the weave,’” Mr. Trump said, using a phrase he often uses to describe his speaking style, as he waved his hand in front of him to suggest he was connecting various dots.

Ms. Harris and her campaign have gone on the offensive by using Mr. Trump’s rambling against him, attacking him in ads, in speeches on the campaign trail and in interviews.

Internal Harris campaign research showed that one of the most effective ways to persuade voters to support the vice president was by portraying Mr. Trump as unstable and Ms. Harris as a steady leader who would strengthen America’s security, according to two Harris officials who insisted on anonymity to describe private data.

In the past two weeks, the Harris campaign has flooded the airwaves in battleground states with a pair of television ads to underscore these themes. One spot features warnings from Mr. Trump’s former top defense officials to paint him as “too big of a risk.” Another features endorsements for Ms. Harris from a bipartisan group of national security officials.

“Even former Trump administration officials agree there’s only one candidate fit to lead our nation — and that’s Kamala Harris,” the narrator says.

The Harris campaign criticized Mr. Trump’s appearance at the Economic Club of Chicago, saying he displayed “unstable behavior” and was “angry and unfocused as he rambled on and on.”

“No one has ever been more dangerous to this country than Donald Trump,” Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota, the Democratic vice-presidential nominee, said on Monday at a campaign event in Wisconsin.

Ms. Harris said the former president was “quite unstable and unfit” during an interview on Monday with The Shade Room, a digital entertainment publication. In a second interview that day with the independent Black journalist Roland Martin, Ms. Harris pointed to Mr. Trump’s false claims that Haitian migrants were eating their neighbors’ pets.

“This man is dangerous,” she said.

Anna Kelly, a spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee, which is supporting the Trump campaign, said Mr. Trump’s “message is clear and consistent: President Trump’s agenda for America’s working men and women will fix our broken economy to lower costs and secure the border to make our communities safe.” 

In Prescott Valley, Ariz., on Sunday, Mr. Trump’s scripted remarks hewed tightly to the anti-immigration message that has become central to his campaign. He stayed on track for the first half-hour of the event before taking a more scenic route to the finish.

After about 25 minutes, he told the crowd he wanted to tell “one quick story” about a friend with a car plant in Mexico.

But he never finished his tale. Instead, he lost the thread one minute later as he complained that if he mispronounced one word he would be accused of being “cognitively impaired.” Then, he botched the phrase by saying President Biden was the one who was “cognitively repaired” and referred to the election as three and a half months away, not three and a half weeks.

About 20 minutes later, Mr. Trump seemed ready to wrap up his speech. He promised the crowd would see him again soon and said he was thinking about residents on the East Coast suffering after the recent storms.

“So in closing,” Mr. Trump continued, “I just want to say Kamala Harris is a radical left Marxist rated even worse than Bernie Sanders or Pocahontas.”

He proceeded to speak for 17 more minutes.

“But I was just about to make breakfast,” she said, giving him a teasing smile.
