Toi: Wawawaa! The exterior was lovely, but the interior is also wonderful! It looks like the kind of place where the main character falls in love with the love interests, or have major misunderstandings... It’s so heart pounding!

Ryui: Oi, ‘sit okay to take pictures here? I wanna take pictures of Toi.

Samejima: It should be fine, I think.

Daniel: …The way you say that means this ain’t your house?

Netaro: Sammy lives in much cheaper accommodation than this.

Samejima: Hahaha, but after 30 years, my loan will—... Hey, wait a sec!

Yodaka: Apologies for the sudden question, Samejima-san, but how exactly are you acquainted with Netaro?

Samejima: Well after a certain case, he's started to help me with some of my investigations. Only occasionally, though.

Nagi: …By a certain case, do you mean the one with the missing heart and flowers*?

Yodaka: I see, so it was then… I understand.

Ryui: And? Can we get back on track? Don’ tell me we came in just to have a fuckin’ tea party? If it’s that then I’m headin’ home.

Samejima: Haha, that would put me in a tight spot so let's get started.

Samejima: Uhh, we called everyone here today to this remote location because of a certain request. —Hiramei, the documents.

Hiramei: Sup, I’m Samejima-san’s subordinate, Hiramei, nice to meet you. Here are the holo-documents!

Daniel: …A guard for this manor’s master?

Samejima: Yes. That being said, the original owner of this place passed of senility a few days ago.

Samejima: Her name was “Brunhild Senba.” She was a megastar of the acting world and a German residing in Japan.

Yodaka: In that case, who will we be acting as guards for?

Samejima: That’s the thing. You see, she didn’t have any family members, so through the will, the enormous inheritance she possessed was transferred to a different person…, no, a different child…took it all. That child… is the one you must protect.

Ryui: …This shit seems kinda convoluted.

Samejima: Ahh yeah… I’m not too sure how to explain that part. ...Nevermind that, let’s move on.

Samejima: So, Brunhild-shi was a famous gem collector. She collected many exotic and rare gems.

Samejima: But after her death, rumors that she poured most of her wealth into a custom made “secret treasure” began to circulate about.

Samejima: That’s when we received news that the internationally wanted criminal organization, “Anonymous,” had set their sights on it. Well, they’re called a criminal organization, but they’re honestly just a ragtag bunch of troublemakers… That being said, we can’t let down our guards

Samejima: And amidst that, a world famous phantom thief also got wrapped up in it…

Daniel: Ahh, what the hell, I'm going home.

Toi: Ehhh!? Why!? Danny-san, we’re about to get to the good part!!

Daniel: My dead grandma always told me to never stick my nose into trouble.

Nagi: Trouble……? But it’s like a scene outta a cool drama.

Yodaka: Putting that aside, I think it would be a bit difficult for amateurs like us to go against a criminal organization.

Ryui: I agree with Natsume. Couldn’t give two shits about Hachinoya, but I don’t want Toi to be put in danger.

Daniel: And that’s that. See ya.

Netaro: I won’t let you! You shall not pass, you shall not pass~~~!

Daniel: Woah……. Oi, Netaro, be a good boy and let me go.

Netaro: Nopes, no goesies. If you want to pass, you’ll have to do it over my dead body.

Samejima: Hahaha, sorry, but can you hear me out until the end?

Samejima: And so, well, as you can all guess, we want to use that secret treasure as bait and lure “Anonymous” out in order to round them all up in one go.

Ryui: And like I said, why’s it gotta be us? The police should just do their own thing.

Netaro: Is Ryui a dumb dumb? It’s because they can’t, which is why I was consulted♪

Ryui: You wanna fucking go?

Netaro: And that’s ‘cause, the one we’ll be guarding~, is the “secret treasure” itself~.

Netaro: It’s a very Kawaii and pretty thing after all♪

Ryui: Huh……? The fuck you——

i smell like smoke from electrical fires — a year-end, happy-birthday-to-me mix.

I used to always make a mix tape or mix CD or playlist for the end of the year/my birthday. The mixes were always a combination of songs I listened to a lot that year, songs that summed up my year in some way, and then a few that I just felt like hearing at the time I was making the mix. I started doing it at around age 12, and continued the tradition until I was about 35. But that was the year 8tracks died for a while, and at the time I didn't have a way to make tapes, and also that was the year I started using Spotify, so I kinda just depended on Spotify wrapped to sum up my music-listening habits for the year. Well, since I no longer use Spotify, and since I do have a way to make tapes, I decided to get back into the habit.

As per usual, I made a YouTube version as well, in case anyone else wants to give it a listen. If you listen to we'll burn it & we'll build it again (the mix I made in July) followed by this one, you'll get a pretty clear picture of what I was listening to a lot this year/what my year was like.

So I have actually reblogged two of these games recently and since this feels more summary-ish than title-ish to me, I'm going to use the first game as a kinda baseline (ish) and give you title, tags, and a little snippet :D

I'm getting some coldflash feels for this one

Summary with just a minor change from what's provided: Who would have thought cocoa (of all things in the world) would change his life?

Snippet:

Barry doesn't really take enough time for himself these days and with the specter of the Reverse Flash's real identity looming over him, he knows he's only gotten worse about it. So it is with great determination that Barry grabs a book he's been meaning to read for months now and heads for a little coffee shop down the street from his apartment that he used to frequent until Iris started at Jitters.

The little shop is, thankfully, still there and Barry ordered a chocolate frappe to enjoy while reading in one of the oversized chairs. He actually does manage to loose himself in the narrative for a change and slowly the tension in Barry's back unwound.

Or it did until, right as Barry was realizing his frappe was empty, someone plunked down two cups of hot cocoa on the table between his chair the formerly empty one beside it and a very familiar voice drawled, "looks like you need a refill."

Barry bookmarked his place and looked over to see Leonard Snart smirking at him from the comfort of a biege chair with blue flowers of some kind all over it. Definitely not quite a match for the purple chair with yellow daisies that Barry had claimed, but the mismatched furniture was part of the shop's charm. And, quite frankly, it's hard for Leonard Snart to look like a scary, scary thief who knows Barry's secret identity while sitting surrounded by flowery fabric.

"Not quite my order, but far be it for me to say no to free cocoa," Barry replied mildly, setting the book aside and snatching up the cocoa nearest him. He took a drink while Snart's eyebrow went up.

"That could have been poisoned, you know."

Barry shrugged and gave a little smirk of his own, though he did glance around the room cautiously before replying. "Fun perk of my powers is that poisons, toxins, drugs, whatever... don't really work on me anymore. I burn through them too fast. Sadly this includes caffeine and alcohol and pain medications, but..." he shrugged. "You could have put strychnine in here and I probably wouldn't even notice unless it messed up the taste."

Ahim had just gotten under the covers when her door opened, a windswept Luka coming in, her usual jacket over her pajamas. 

“Saw all your stars, Luka-san?” Ahim asked, scooting over to make room for her fellow pirate. 

“Saw twelve today,” Luka boasted, putting her jacket in a heap on the desk chair and making her way towards Ahim. 

“Luka-san, please either fold your jacket or hang it up,” Ahim said sternly in her best princess voice. 

“Oh come on, Doc’ll iron it tomorrow if it bugs him so much.” 

“Luka-san.” 

Luka sighed dramatically, but hung the jacket up over the back of the chair.

“Thank you, Luka-san,” Ahim said as Luka got into bed with her. 

“Yeah, yeah.” 

Ahim smiled, shaking her head a little. She reached over to turn off the main lights, leaving a night light glowing orange and the glow-in-the-dark stickers Gai had bought as the light sources. 

She was tempted to ask what brought Luka in, but knew that it would just make Luka shut down. After all, if she waited, Luka usually answered anyway. It wasn’t an uncommon thing for Luka to come in, but every so often it meant something was bothering her. And while she had seemed to be in a good mood when she came in, Ahim had gotten very good at discerning Luka’s moods. Something was bothering the thief, and hopefully Ahim would get to know exactly what. 

“Do you ever think we’ll get the greatest treasure?” Luka asked after a few minutes. 

“Marvelous-san won’t let us not get it,” Ahim pointed out, amused. “That’s why we’re here on Earth, after all.” 

“Mmm…” 

Luka was quiet for a while, and while Ahim couldn’t quite see Luka (night vision not being one of the characteristics of the people of her planet), she knew that she was deep in thought, probably frowning a little as she figured out what she wanted to say. 

“...do you ever think about what we’ll do after?” Luka asked finally. 

Ahim considered the question. They had discussed it a bit, as a crew, but the unknown, especially to Luka, still loomed. With the Zangyack trying to commandeer the whole universe, it was a bit daunting sometimes. But it wasn’t like it was going to stop the Gokaigers, either way. 

“I really…just really want to make sure the kids have enough to eat, y’know? But you’re gonna want to go back to Famille, right?” 

“Luka-san, part of being a princess is diplomatic reach, don’t forget.” 

Ahim felt Luka startle, like she hadn’t considered that option. Ahim gave a little sigh, kissing Luka on the forehead. 

“We wouldn’t let you do that all on your own, Luka-san.” 

“No, I know, but…” 

Ahim didn’t say anything, stroking Luka’s hair as Luka settled in. It didn’t take long for Luka’s breaths to even out and deepen. Clearly this had reassured her, although now Ahim was the one who was slightly troubled. Not too troubled, for she knew her place on the crew, but it was daunting, knowing the greatest treasure was out there, out for the taking, if only the Gokaigers would come and grab it.

Still, it wasn’t very long at all for her to slip into sleep, the knowledge and trust she had in the crew comforting her as she snuggled into Luka.

She was at a church, similar to the one she had fake-married Gai in. Her dress was a light pink, in a bridal cut, and there was a flower crown with a veil on her head. Gai and Doc were next to her, in suits of silver and green, while Joe was on the other side, all of them holding bouquets of pink and yellow. They were waiting for someone, Gai whispering it was usually the other way around on Earth while Doc hushed him. 

The church doors opened, revealing Luka, arm in arm with Marvelous, and while everyone else was in suits--including Luka, in a suit of pale yellow--he was in his finest pirate gear. The music started playing, a song she remembered from weddings she had attended on Famille. 

Marvelous dropped Luka off, giving her a squeeze on the shoulder before joining Joe. A priest-type person was saying…something, but Ahim was watching Luka, who looked uncharacteristically nervous. 

There was something about if they agreed to take each other, and something about absolutely and then Luka’s lips were on hers, and Gai was cheering, and Luka was being bridal carried out by her (since she had grown stronger, after all) and…

“Ahim, Luka, you have to wake up, otherwise Marvelous will have eaten all the breakfast,” Doc’s voice warned, cutting through her dream. 

“Mmmph,” mumbled Luka, who had an arm and leg thrown over Ahim. 

“Don’t blame me if you’re not there in time!” Doc said before leaving. 

“Come on, Luka-san,” Ahim said, stretching a bit once Luka got off her. “We need breakfast to chase our dream, after all.” 

“Definitely,” Luka agreed. “But what were you dreaming about? You were humming in your sleep.” 

“Mmm…something that could come true after we make our real life dream come true, perhaps?” 

Luka pouted, clearly unhappy with the vagueness. Ahim smiled, pressing her lips against Luka’s before taking her hand. 

“Is that part of being a princess too? Being vague?” 

“No, I would simply like to tell you after breakfast. But we have to hurry, with Marvelous-san.” 

“Ugh, you’d think he’d learn to leave some food for the rest of us!”

A Bird in the Storm Jack L. Bodden (Texas, USA)

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid . . . for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." - Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV)

"My wife and I sat in our sunroom and watched a storm rage outside. As we watched the rain pour down and heard the thunder rumble, we noticed a purple martin flying through the wind and rain. She flew up to her nest under the eaves at the corner of our house. We could hear the chirping of her babies as she brought them a tiny insect, and then with a chirp of her own, she took off to find more for them to eat. Time after time she returned and then took off again. The heavy rain and strong wind occasionally blew her off course, but she never stopped. Our admiration for her grew with each trip she made, and we both remarked that there was something inspirational about her behavior.

Long after the storm ended, I kept thinking about what we had witnessed. The mother bird’s behavior made me think of the sacrifice that Jesus made for all of us. Like the purple martin, his sacrifice was an act of intense love! The little bird’s determined care for her young reminded us that God really does care about and provide for all of creation. God’s love will endure and will not be turned aside by the storms of adversity. I pray that the devotion of the little bird will stay alive in my memory and inspire me to show love to others and to trust God to provide for God’s children." Amazing the the determination of the purple martin was compared to Jesus' determination to save us with sacrifice. It makes you know that He will never let you down, just like a bird mother.
